Hau!

The final update for this year as usually includes a lof of useful information for music addicts :)

First, I can't but mention the three new releases! The new album of Cyclotimia "Styx" is definitely the most "non-format" release for our label, and a "backward experiment" for the band who deliberately tried to make it as mainstream as possible. A supplement for this CD is a collection of compositions recorded in various years and combined on a disk called "TimeBank". These two releases are put out together with the labels Shadowplay Records and Monopoly Records. One more release is a double album of the project DMT "Selected Funbient Works 1-4" made in cooperation with the labels kultFRONT, Aquarellist and Monochrome Vision.

Second, our mailorder has been updated with a pile of new music. The list of rare and used vinyls was rearranged, so that all records in mint (unplayed) condition were moved to the main catalogue. Besides, the prices for the most part of these records were reduced.

One more thing: we uploaded a photo gallery with the pictures from the fest "Otgoloski" which took part in Moscow on December 9th. The performers were Akpan, Misery, Vresnit, Lunar Abyss Deus Organum and Neznamo: http://zhb.radionoise.ru/eng/20091209/index.html.

And now I'd like to say goodye to all of you and take a well-deserved rest: drink some sweet vodka, lie in snowbanks, listen to silence and abandon myself to other simple entertainments! All your orders and other enquiries will be proceeded as they are received after January 8th.

I wish all your wishes will come true in the new cycle!

ZHELEZOBETON in cooperation with the Voronezh label Shadowplay and the Moscow label Monopoly Records presents the new 7th full-length album from the masters of "stockmarket industrial". "Styx" is the most mainstream-oriented work in the Cyclotimia discography. The music here is free of experimental and academic explorations traditional for the band; here the emphasis is made on the rhythmical component. Inexorable like an economic recession and steadfast like a financial indicator chart, eleven compositions depict the sickly technogenic reality of the planet wrapped by networks of global capital, media glamour and ideological obsessions.

In the ancient Greek mythology Styx was the embodiment of primeval dread and gloom, from which the first living creatures emerged. This was a personification of the underworld river whose pestilent currents seclude life from death... Similarly to this mythic river, currents of credits, percent, funds, financial quotations, capital issues, barrels of oil and advertising spaces flow on the Cyclotimia album to the accompaniment of hard, sterile and atmospheric electronic music.

Recommended to the fans of Skinny Puppy, Clock DVA, Laibach (of the "Das Kapital" period), Front Line Assembly.

"TimeBank" is a collection of exclusive compositions recorded by Cyclotimia in 2003-2007 and for some reasons left out of the main albums. The material presented here is hard to fit in the Procrustean bed of common musical styles, but we can try to list the ingredients from which this post-industrial "dish" was cooked: both cyber jazz and idm, neoclassics and trademark technological ambient, old-school electronics and atmospheric new age, experimental and many more can be found here...

Despite the seeming stylistic incompatibility the band succeeded in creating a self-sufficient album with a spectacular plot no worse than a good Hollywood thriller. A special jewel of the disk is the track "Nocturne" combining aerial melodies and uneasy sonic "cinematography". Also worth mentioning is the "live" 10-minute prog-industrial suite "Economic Meditation", imbued with psychedelic dramatism.

Words written about the band several years ago remain true even today: "While actively using the possibilities of analogue and vintage equipment Cyclotimia creates unique soundscapes, suspenseful and sublime at the same time. Not so many projects can successfully implement such impressively "cold" atmospheres and, despite being "technological", fill the sound with such a deep humanistic sense." Dmitriy Tolmatskiy (1970-2009) - a journalist and musician from the city of Saratov (south of Russia), one of the first popularizers of the alternative intellectual culture and particularly industrial music in post-Soviet Russia. He was the creator of the RWCDAX website which had certain influence on the mindset of many modern personalities of Russian post-industrial art.

The musical project DMT was established in 1995 and released by the end of the 90s several limited-edition cassette albums, lapsing afterwards into silence for a while. In the mid-00s the project was revived, had some successful live gigs and recorded a lot of new material, part of which is presented on this double-CD "Selected Funbient Works 1-4".

Plans of this release existed for a long time but unfortunately were not implemented while the author was alive. His life cut short in the autumn of 2009. And now by joint efforts of the kultFRONT, ZHELEZOBETON, Aquarellist and Monochrome Vision labels, this release has become available for those interested. The album vividly displays the complex music world of DMT, which like everything innovative exists on the crossing of several musical styles and directions: from dark-ambient and industrial noise sketches to technoid rhythmics and pure sonic experiments.

IV. NEW ITEMS IN MAILORDER CATALOGUE

CD-R/CD

.HROPTR. -- "Off-Key Interlude" -- CD-R -- €10
2005 Slaughter Productions, SPCD54, (ltd. 100)
.HROPTR. is a new talented project from Belgium. The music on this limited edition CDR (100 handnumbered copies) is morbid death-industrial ambient with an avant-garde touch. A very various work featuring 9 tracks, some with great dark atmospheres, pounding monotonuos rythms, treated voice samples... and more... all with a real excellent personal touch. Really tastefull and recommended cdr. Comes in a 15 x 13 cardboard sleeve. [label info]

666 Volt Battery Noise -- "Audio Super-Predator" -- CD -- €10
1997 RRRecords / Pure, PURE 46
Another richly-textured distortion storm from RRR by someone called 666 Volt Battery Noise. I wasn't able to track down any information on this project anywhere, which sucks as I really enjoyed the turbulent brain-flattening this hour long disc laid on me. The four tracks on here are LONG, ranging from 9-23 minutes, and each one is a dense ocean of swarming, squiggling, fried-out distortion and feedback tones in the vein of The Rita, Cherry Point, and Knurl, with what sound to me like vocals run through a mile-long chain of distortion pedals. Now, maybe it's only because I've been listening to so much of this type of stuff lately that it's fucking with my inner ear, but 666 Volt's wash of noise feels a little, uh, softer, more hypnotic than what The Rita and Cherry Point are doing; listening to this disc makes me feel like someone has tossed my head into a concrete mixer filled with steel wool pads and set it to spin, a ""soft"" but abrasive blast of white noise enveloping your senses, the sound of billions of pixelated insects swarming in and around your skull, your third eye opening to reveal an eternity of buried riffs and melodies. Like I said, it's probably just me; this is some heavy duty distortion wipeout aktion. Packaged in a xerox-damaged wallet sleeve in the archetypal PURE/RRR steez. [Crucial Blast]

Airway -- "Live at LACE" -- CD -- €10
1978/2006 Harbinger Sound, HARBINGER 047
This live recording captures a 1978 performance by sonic art behemoths Airway, a troupe of noise musicians led by Joe Potts. This recording was previously made available in 1995 as part of a LAFMS (Los Angeles Free Music Society) 10 CD boxset by RRRecords in collaboration with Cortical Foundation, though the version presented there differs from this new Harbinger Sounds reissue, which draws its master from the original tape recording of the event. The music here is divided into two 'sides', each comprising twenty minutes of the most esoteric and downright harsh din-crafting you could hope to encounter. Taking radically disfigured musical instruments, feedback signals and an array of effects the group launch a sensory onslaught, all captured in the grittiest, seediest fashion for this raw, archaic recording. Potts had referred to the philosophy behind Airway as a kind of "sonic facism", with the group reportedly projecting a kind of hypnotic tyranny over audiences. Legend has it that attendees of Airway performances would often be forced out of the venue by the sheer unbearable volume of sound and any particularly keen audience members would have to listen from outside the performance space. The resultant sounds are very much akin to the kind of uncompromising audio filth you'd hear on a Yellow Swans live document or even a particularly lo-fi Hototogisu outing, albeit with a waft of live drumming buried deep within the sludge. A fascinating period piece for noise fans looking for the movement's early innovators. [press-release]

Allseits -- "Hel" -- CD -- €13
2009 Cyclic Law, 23rd Cycle, (ltd. 1000)
ALLSEITS is the Solo project of the german instrumentalist Nina Kernicke known from her recent collaboration with German Drone pioneers Troum of which Nina has also been a recent live member of and her work under her other alias, ALLSIDES. The Album "Hel“ describes the way into the underworld, the listener is guided through various stages on the journey down to Hel, the Norse mythological term for hell and also for the goddess Hel who is said to keep watch over the underworld. The journey begins at the foot of Yggdrasil, the world tree, under which the entry to Hel is hidden. We then ride the river Gjöll, that flows along the human world before it runs down to Hel. Gjöll is spanned by the bridge Gjallarbrù which is guarded by Modgudr, a female giant, who decides who can pass the bridge. Leaving Gjallarbrù behind, the large dog Garm that sentinels the gate to Hel is waiting and at his side sits Fjalar, a rooster that will crow to signify the beginning of Ragnarok, the end of the world. After passing Fjalar Hel is finally reached. This allegoric tale is expressed diligently by Kernicke with the use of guitar, bass, drums and skillful sampling creating thick drony layers of deep and solemn emotions. Edition of 1000 copies In gatefold cardboard sleeve. [press-release]

As All Die -- "Victory" -- CD -- €10
2006 Flood The Earth Records, FTE 011
Without question the most aggressive martial industrial release from As All Die to date. Mixes elements of heavy percussion, harsh soundscapes, aggressive and spoken vocals, droning synths and WWI samples. Not for the timid! [Red Stream]

Atomine Elektrine -- "The Deep Invisible" -- CD -- €11
2008 Vendlus Records, Vend032
Peter Andersson is a must-know name in the world of dark ambient and industrial music. He’s the man behind Raison d’etre, Stratvm Terror, Bocksholm among many, previously released by Cold Meat Industry, Essence Music and Old Europa Cafe. Atomine Elektrine is described as a truly out-of-body, deeply layered and dynamic cosmic experience in the form of a masterful ambiance, filled with outbursts of energy and synthetic movements. “The Deep Invisible” is his 5th album as Atomine Elektrine, it is a journey of dark matter to outer and inner space, to the empty regions of the universe outside the ambience of celestial bodies and to the inner most subconscious manifestations of the mind. [press-release]

Bardo -- "Chö" -- 3"CD-R -- €5
2009 S und S records, SS-2009-011-02, (ltd. 13)
One of the very first records of long defunct project "BARDO" (Sergey Gabbasov, now project Vazhes), processed by SunrutaS (AKPAN). The album is dedicated to the practice of Chod in Tibetian buddhism. Recorded in spring 2007, mixed and mastered at S und S records in 2009. [label info]

Bardoseneticcube -- "zig-ODA" -- 3"CD-R -- €10
2009 S und S Records, SS-2009-010-03, (ltd. 35)

Beequeen -- "Treatise" -- CD -- €10
2000 Auf Abwegen, AATP08, (ltd. 500)
"Treatise" features 6 long tracks by dutch experimental group Beequeen. Beequeen is the project of Frans de Waard (Kapotte Muziek, Goem, Capt. Black, Staalplaat) and Freek Kinkelaar (Brunnen). The duo has released works on labels such as Staalplaat, Wachsender Prozess, Anomalous, Ant-Zen, etc. The music on this compact disk was partly recorded live and has thus a harsher note adding another facette to the group’s carefully laid out soundscapes. Swirling drones meet concrete sounds and almost poetic arrangements. [press-release]

Birchville Cat Motel -- "Gunpowder Temple of Heaven" -- CD -- €10
2008 Pica Disk, PICA004
Birchville Cat Motel is the project of New Zealander Campbell Kneale, who has from his base in Lower Hutt since the mid 90-ies established himself as the leading voice of this generation of NZ sound artists. Gunpowder Temple of Heaven is a new highlight in his extensive discography. A single 40 minute long-form piece that keeps building and unfolding; heaven for drone-noise enthustiasts. The CD comes with a booklet with a complete Birchville discography as well as liner-notes by Bruce Russell. From the liner notes of Bruce Russell (The Dead C): "I've been listening to the music of Campbell Kneale for more than a decade now. Recently I've been listening with a sense of increasing admiration as he stacks up monumental sound slabs in an architecture of audition - building a lofty tower of sound. Always a dedicated worker at whatever he does, Campbell had mastered the detailed work required to place many sounds accurately across each another. Often this kind of 'more is more' strategy backfires into murky sludge, where the increasing layers merely obscure each other. On the contrary, the more BCM puts into a piece, the more you hear coming out." [press-release]

Black Leather Jesus -- "First You Destroy Their Faith" -- CD -- €10
2004 Spatter, SPCD1
Black Leather Jesus has been something of an umbrella project for collective works of a number of various noise/experimental artists. In its best years, BLJ included as many as 13 members. It was originally formed by Richard Ramirez in 1989 and is still active nowadays, 15 years later. This new release on Spatter is another great chapter in the BLJ saga. Killer harsh noise. [8mm Records]

Black Sand Desert -- "Choking On Grave Soil" -- CD -- €10
2006 PACrec, PACrec119 / Troniks, TRO-224
Cinder block snakes pummeling through intricately woven nests, kneading maliciously at the middle, trying relentlessly & desperately to break through. A silver haired piper tries calling his snakes back home, stretches his vocal chords deep & wide but only whispers trickle out. They move too fast for him to catch. He closes his eyes tightly and follows them out & away, admiring their persistance & brilliant navigation with an envious heart. Their scales push outward and gash the softness open leaving shards and soggy ash in a twisting tail behind them. You can hear meat tearing in waves of coarse & uneven static, swelling & expanding as if they carve a new base, a fresh home. They bury their coiled bodies deep inside, knotting tails & heads into electric branches, you can hear the branches spitting up electricity and the way their fire crackles first and thunders immediately after. He circles the landscape like a madman trying to find the slithering escape artists that have left him behind. Their buzzing rattles growing larger & larger serve as his compass & guide. He picks up and fondles the skin they shed & tease him with. He can hear them digging, getting further & further inside, spilling wildfire in the folds & flesh. The end is here and the sounds they make reflect it, a blister covered whistling tone thins itself into nothing & disappears. They are lost and so is he... Black Sand Desert is the harsh noise sideproject from Greh (Hive Mind / Chondritic Sound). [press-release]
[mp3]

Bladh, Martin -- "Dirge; The Peter Sotos Files" -- CD -- €13
2008 Freak Animal Records, FA-CD-042
Martin Bladh of IRM with samples & spoken word from author Peter Sotos. [label info] "While I was working on the Swedish translation of Peter's excellent book Selfish, Little: the Annotated Lesley Ann Downey, I found that I couldn't get enough of this unsafe, highly personal world, and got the ugly idea to make my own piece based upon it. Since I love the buyer's marked material I asked Peter for the permission to do a recording centered on his private universe. He agreed and sent me a load of sound- and video clips, which he'd collected and put into context. I guess it's fair to call this album a conceptual piece, but I want to point out that it is foremost my own personal take on Peter's work and he should not be held responsible for anything I've done. Big thanks to Peter who made this recording possible. Martin Bladh, Norrköping, June 2008."

Dimuzio, Thomas -- "Sonicism" -- 2 CD -- €12
1997 RRRecords, RRR-CD-22
The name of Thomas Dimuzio may not be unfamiliar to anyone with an eye open for the more serious composing underground artists. I particular liked his LP 'Headlock' which came out years ago. Dimuzio plays around with a wide variety of sound sources, including things we would recognize as instruments, like acoustic guitar and clarinet but also a wide variety of field recordings. It blows me away totally. Great walls of sounds, slowly building to a high point, to be cut off extremely, only to be followed by soft, environmental recordings (like on disc 2, with the fourth track being rain, thunder and bees). If ever 'ambient' was something, this is it. This plays around with droning sounds and ambient alike. [Frans de Waard, Vital Weekly]

Disorder Of Deadeight -- "Voidkollapse / Tunnelvogel" -- CD -- €10
2006 Vaticanian Roadkill Records, VRR 03/04
Spooky rumblings from these Finnish wizards of drone. This two track, hour long excursion sounds as if it has taken the Radiophonic Workshop, Nurse With Wound, Uton, The Boredoms, Sunn, and squeezed them all through the worlds biggest delay pedal. This maybe one of the best things we have heard in a long while, and is definitly not for the faint hearted, but ultimatly is one heck of a gloriously rewarding trip. [Rough Trade]

Dvar -- "Piirrah / Taai Liira" -- CD -- €10
2009 Shadowplay Records, SPR 103
The complete and final reissue of the material from the legendary albums "Piirrah" and "Taai Liira" on one CD with a generous bonus-track section. The occult project DVAR has become known for the "gothic" community after the compilation "Edge Of The Night" released in the year of Millennium. The song "Taai Liira" stood out among the rest of material. Full of inhuman aggression, paranoidal hysteria and infinite pathology this song created at the junction point of darkwave and electronic black metal has opened a window for mass audience. Later followed the release of the first full-length album "Piirrah" in Italy, then powerful stylistical metamorphoses, creation of their own unique style "lightwave", release of 5 albums on Russian label Irond, including "Taai Liira", and many more... This CD presents the complete reissue of "Piirrah" and it's Russian reissue as "Taai Liira" also featuring previously unreleased material. This is a sort of archive mould of surely one of the most dark and sickly chapter in the history both Russian and international "dark scene". [press-release]
[myspace]

E.P.A. -- "Black Ice" -- CD -- €10
2004 Dorobo, 019, (ltd. 500)
First part of "black | mass" trilogy by Darrin Verhagen (Shinjuku Thief, E.P.A.). A 42 minute slab of sonic violence which is as unmerciful as it is exquisitely crafted. Under his new power electronics pseudonym, Shinjuku Thief's mastermind finds a finely balanced tension between visceral chaos and deliberate nastiness. If all the Shinjuku Thief albums which preceded it suggest the ghostly existence of a very dark world, black ice delivers the map, the accelerator and the searing pain upon arrival. [label info]

Ego Death -- "Everyday Life (Normal Noise)" -- CD-R -- €4
Reality Impaired, RIRCD057
I'm not sure if I guessed it right, but it seems that this time Manos Michaelides has connected a broken contact mic to an air hockey table and recorded everything for half an hour. Everything you can hear is various crackles and rattles, sometimes also distant voices appear. Naturally, a die-hard fans only release.

Exterior Mirror -- "Hupp" -- CD -- €10
1996 Katyn Records, KAT-01
Deep ambient electronics from the Chicago artist Claude Willey.

Fanum -- "II" -- CD-R -- €6
2009 Valgriind, VG 33, (ltd. 100)

Freie Hand -- "s/t" -- CD-R -- €7
2003 Reduktive Musiken, redukt004, (ltd. 100)
Side projekt of TBC and No. Thomas Beck and Jan Iwers found the soundproject "Freie Hand" in the spring of 1998. Their nonmusic describe through concret tones and noises, abstract electronic and biological undancable rhythms. Computer are not used. The main intercourse is the spontaneous communication of the tones and the interaction of the two performer. The structed improvisation process are used mainly selfbuilded instruments as the "digitizer". [label info]

1995/2002 Fremdheit, FREMD CD 93

Girnu Giesmes -- "Bevardes Salos" -- CD -- €13

Global Darkness -- "World of Terror" -- CD-R -- €6
2005 Capre Noctem, CN5, (ltd. 150)
Dark ambient one-man project from Belgium. All that disturb and inspire us. Piano sketches, public figures' voices, steps, statics, fly, voices. The new picture of a trip to the world of everyday terror and outside. [Vetvei]

Illusion Of Safety / Life Garden / Voice Of Eye -- "The Nature Of Sand" -- CD -- €12
1995 Manifold Records, MANCD20

Impact Test -- "Gangwar" -- CD -- €10
1995 RRRecords / Pure, PURE 24
Impact Test formed out of the still-smoking ashes of the legendary Milwaukee industrial/noise group Boy Dirt Car in the late 1980's, a product of the bizarre and unique underground music scene happening in Milwaukee at the time along with bands like F/I, Vocokesh, Die Kreuzen, and BDC. The disc features four long tracks of abstract industrial crawl from the long-running Wisconsin noise band, and is one of Impact Test's more atmospheric releases. Once again, the band relies heavily on found sounds, samples and field recordings to construct their ominous soundscapes, and they open the first track with bits of random voices and the whizzz of racecars zooming by, then slam into caustic distorted buzz and hiss that obscures clusters of dissonant piano notes. For the next ten minutes or so, Impact Test ratchet up the tension as the dissonant, low piano continues on underneath the sustained sheets of swarming insectile hiss and streaks of high-end oscillator tones, becoming a threatening piece of ambient noise with mangled guitar sounds appearing at the very end. The rest of the album follows a similiar pattern, epic tracks of fluttering mechanical drones and droning electronic noise stretched over strange sonic terrain filled with recordings of chirping birds, sampled conversations chopped up into unintelligible babble, walls of crashing cymbals, damaged electric guitars bent and assaulted into cacophonous trainwrecks of atonal noise, clanging metal percussion, warped tape loops, and more. Some of this is along the lines of Wolf Eyes and their creepier minimalist recordings. The disc is packaged in a wallet-sleeve with that trademark style of xerox-damaged recycled inserts that most of RRRecords discs come in. [Crucial Blast]

Jazkamer & Smegma -- "Endless Coast" -- CD -- €10
2007 No Fun Productions, NFP16
A collaboration between American underground psychedelic/noise pioneers (and still kicking hard now for over 30 years) Smegma and Norweigan noise/metal masters Jazkamer. From two totally different worlds and approaches to sound a totally original abstract language is born creating an imaginary coast that extends from the brutality of the Scandinavian frozen seas to the dark and mysterious rock filled beaches of the American northwest - a landscape full of strange creatures and beings, an eternal and endless coast. Recorded and mixed at Smegma’s legendary home base Portland studio. [press-release]

Karjalan Sissit -- "Fucking Whore Society" -- CD -- €13
2009 Cyclic Law, 25rd Cycle, (ltd. 2000)
At last, Karjalan Sissit return after 4 years of relative silence with their most obscure and harshest work ever. Fucking whore society is an anger and Vodka fueled bombastic opus inspired by the world's psychopathic state. A revolt against the cruel and sickly ways of today’s society and a visceral and personal statement denouncing betrayal. Karjalan Sissit have masterfully expanded their signature sound with dense ambient passages and unsettling vocals all combined with their intensely unique orchestral passages, presenting us their best and most intense work yet. Produced by Peter Bjärgö (Arcana / Sophia). Edition of 2000 copies In A5 gatefold cardboard sleeve. [press-release]

BloodLust! is happy to announce "Koskemattomuus," the label's second release by the emerging industrial noise group, Kriminaaliset Metsänhaltijat, which follows on the footsteps of the bands recent "Anarkkia, Kaaos, Maailmanloppu!" EP [B!129]. The members of this shadow group of old-school industrial acolytes originally hail from Finland and from Karelia -- a region and an autonomous republic of northwest Russia, between the Gulf of Finland and the White Sea. To paraphrase some of the band's own dogmatic yet oblique statements and manifestos, Kriminaaliset Metsänhaltijat quite accurately claim to have built their sound on the bones of such groups as S.P.K. and Throbbing Gristle, through a prism of Japanese harsh-noise and Finnish hardcore-punk, spewing out a nihilistic nightmare of diffused synth hiss, commanding metal percussion, waves of harsh-noise, anarcho-punk attitude, and dissident power-electronics. This "new" album, which the band actually recorded in 2001, furthers the group's association with the anarcho-punk scene [CRASS, et al] by presenting a fiercely grim anti-war statement. By conjuring the disasters of war, both historic and contemporary, the group lays the blame for the death of so many innocent civilians squarely on the shoulders of greedy politicians and big business. Kriminaaliset Metsänhaltijat weave their aggressive, dark industrial-noise style with segments of traditional, romantic Finnish war songs from World War II, as well of impassioned battlefield vocal segments, creating a complex and compelling tableaux that should appeal to a broad group of listeners, including fans from the martial music, minimal synth, crusty punk, and noise scenes. These are professionally duplicated CDs, with single panel, double-sided inserts, featuring striking color artwork; in jewel boxes with shrinkwrap. [press-release]

2009 kultFRONT, KF-XIV, (ltd. 250)
"Zhatva" (Russian word for "Harvest") is the final part of the trilogy by Majdanek Waltz (after "Pepel" and "Ophelia"). This disk is a sort of retrospective of uncommonality of the group. Aside from the features of their classical style, here you can find the depths of the band's experimental abyss. Composed using lyrics by Georg Heym, skills of flute and cello players, and help of the St. Petersburg project Anthesteria. Limited to 250 numbered copies. [press-release]

Miro -- "s/t" -- CD -- €7
2009 self-released
Miro is a collaboration between Andrey Popovskiy (curator of Experimental Sound Gallery in St. Petersburg) and Mikhail Kuleshin (drummer of the band Rtut' / Hg). Andrey plays electroguitar with lots of effects and objects, Mikhail uses drums and percussion. "Calm sonic landscapes turn into nervous free-jazz fractures, the language of modern academic music is combined with pseudo-impressionistic passages. 'Unusual' ways of producing sound (brushes, bows, feathers, matches, chains, etc.) go with standard plectron. Digital sound-processing devices (reverbs, overdrive, echo, loop station) are applied along with 'clean' sound. This music is improvised, it's not the 'frozen result', but the process of creating the sonic images." [from the authors]

N.A.O.S. -- "The Final Harvest" -- CD -- €10
1995 Itsemuhra Arts, HR 003
NAOS is a one-man-project of Magus Wampyr Daoloth (George Zacharopoulos) of Necromantia. The debut album The Final Harvest was recorded in 1993 and released in 1995 through German label Itsemuhra Arts. The music is not Black Metal or any kind of metal, but Gothic/Darkwave. The vocals are just spoken words and the lyrics are about satanism and individualism. The atmosphere is a very dark one, the beats are mainly slow and there are some haunting keyboard melodies as well. Black as hell, even without a guitar! Some songs are too long in duration, so there is sometimes too much replication in one song. I don't know if this kind of music is something for metalheads, but I am sure, that even Black Metal fans need a silent hour once in a month. Then I would recommend NAOS! [Skariotis, Hellenic Metal]

Nadja -- "Bliss Torn From Emptiness" -- CD -- €10
2005/2008 Profound Lore Records, PFL-031
Originally released as a very limited CDR several years ago as a single 43 minute track, this special re-release has been given the ultimate facelift. Still characteristically (and aesthetically) seen as one long track (this time stretched out to nearly an hour long), this time though broken down into three segments/parts/tracks respectively... Presented in a lavish 8-panel digipack with provoking and entrancing artwork (put together by Aidan Baker), “Bliss Torn From Emptiness” is another exceptional observation that will only strengthen Nadja’s (i.e. the most intriguing act to come out of the Greater Toronto Area in years) reputation as one of the most respectable and best acts within the experimental, ambient, and drone scene(s). [label info]

Njurmannen -- "Terror In The Dollhouse" -- CD -- €13
2008 Old Europa Cafe, OECD110
NJURMANNEN was the VERY first project in which Lina DEUTSCH NEPAL was involved!!! And he was working and recording with the rest of this "CULT" band all the tracks on this album!!! The album features studio recordings arround 1990 by the legendary Swedish electronica pioneers Njurmännen! This CD album contains the most part of their long time out of print LP "Reality Adventures" plus some stray material from compilations and seven inch vinyl and one previously un-released track! Snappy gothic pop tunes meet electronic gamelan meets Russian poetry in outer space... Or something like that... Or much more simply "The real cult release of 2008" !!!?!?!? [press-release]

Ortmann, Andy & John Wiese -- "Recorder Out Of Tune" -- mCD -- €10
2006 Nihilist, NIHIL 39, (ltd. 1000)
A new mini CD by label boss Andy Ortmann who plays four tracks together with John Wiese, who is the man of fame in the world of guitars and noise these days. Ortmann used to call himself Panicsville, but these days wanders around under his own name. One might easily think that this would be the full on noise for some twenty odd minutes, but actually it's not really much of that. Its music that appeals to loud noise music, but it's rather a forcefull twist of electro acoustic music than pure noise. The sampled sound of acoustic sounds is set against some nasty frequencies in 'Last Days For Haas', but in the three other tracks they present a rather playful collage of sounds, that works quite well. Things even drop to a point when it's actually 'quiet', is that something easy to imagine? This is a mighty fine work. Not too long, not too short. Just fine enough. [Vital Weekly]

Pesthauch -- "Erinnerung An Die Zukunft" -- CD-R -- €7

Realgar -- "Auriloquio" -- CD -- €10
Autarkeia, ACD 041
Autarkeia label has been long seeking to release such album. Mainly investigating the world of aggression, fear and nightmares, the label has always been searching for a certain balance to avoid one-sidedness, withdrawal and repetition. And, finally, this is the first album absolutely falling out of the earlier specialisation of Autarkeia, yet equally attractive. Well-known Italian musicians Roberto and Claudia, previously partaking in the activities of Kirlian Kamera, Ataraxia, Lupercalia and Argine, have recorded a number of remarkable tracks, the atmosphere of which is probably best described by words very lucid, yearning and constructed in esp. high quality. In terms of style, this is rhythmic electronics enticing the audience with its variety of ethnic instruments and fabulous voice of Claudia. The album promises very convivial journey to the world of alchemy of the Middle Ages. By celebrating the past, it is also nostalgic for the strange world of the times gone and no longer reachable to us. [press-release]

Reductio Ad Absurdum -- "Sovmehkastratsiya" -- CD -- €9
2009 Provoloka, PRVLK 0002, (ltd. 375)
Reductio Ad Absurdum is one of the most interesting and original noise projects emerged from the post-Soviet Russia. They started their collective experiments in 1994, having recorded and released almost twenty albums, part of them was released by Ultra and Black Dead Rabbit Productions, another part by their own label Plodovitaya Suka. "Sovmehkastratsiya" was released on a cassette in far 1996 by Ultra as a limited edition of 30 copies. After almost 15 years this album is now available on digital media with an additional bonus-track taken from "Zvukoterror" compilation (Ultra 14, 1996). The musical component of this album won't leave untoched the lovers of oldschool analogue noise: noisy trance of Noizeclot, aesthetics of Dog As Master's "Conduit" period, inclination to alogical rhythmics of early Esplendor Geometrico - the music of Reductio Ad Absurdum combines all these approaches making their own, easily recognisable style. Silbernacht -- "Liebe und Verfall" -- CD -- €10
2007 The Ajna Offensive, FLAME33
Imagine a gloomy, old silent film. Imagine the soundtrack for that film. This CD would be the music you would hear. Germany couldn't be a more appropriate home for SILBERNACHT, project of one Frank Esser, for this musical score seems to fit in perfectly with an era of film that is legendary the world over thanks to the genius of many a German filmmaker. The release is on a 4-panel chipboard stock, with hand printed panels, is set up to look like the work received from Herr Esser over the years. "...Sounds like a fractured and off-kilter soundtrack to a German Expressionist flick set in WWII dealing with leather, sodomy and the love of one's country. Who are they? There can't be more stuff like this anywhere else..." [label info]

Sshe Retina Stimulants -- "Colloidal Urban Semantika" -- CD-R -- €9
2006 Old Europa Cafe, OECDR 019, (ltd. 160)
After a long time SSHE RETINA STIMULANTS is back on OLD EUROPA CAFE. For this release SRS deploys a deranged catalogue of samples from forgotten spectres and once wild avenues, looking for the hidden codes of unborn languages across the debris of polluted sideways… Layers after layers of frequency manipulations coexist with millions of tiny acoustic bubbles, drilling even further into the subtle essence of unseen city souls. This turns into a new phase of SRS cultural extremism, where past assaults are refined across the scenery of selected views from alien observation platforms…. “ …once more, this is a concept for research and management of urban wildlife, based on acoustic reference to the analysis of colloidal phases in the marginal segments of social environments…” [label info]

Stratvm Terror -- "Genetic Implosion" -- CD -- €12
2000/2009 Old Europa Cafe, OECD 029
Long time sold out and very requested album, finally here comes the re-print. The powerful side project by Peter Andersson aka "Raison D’Etre". 7 studio tracks & for the first time on digital format 3 live tracks recorded in 1998 during the Nursery Injection Festival in Stockholm. The sound is getting more harsh & powerful than on the two previous cd releases. 56 minutes of great and uncompromising power-electronics. Dark and painful sounds with few filtered voices coming from a cold hell. All implosions treated by Peter Andersson and Tobias Larsson between 1997-1999. [press-release]

Stratvm Terror -- "Pain Implantations" -- CD -- €13
1998/2009 Old Europa Cafe, OECD118
Formed by aggression and pain the aptly titled CD 'Pain Implantation' is probably a good description of the music, given the focus of the approach. Sparse and suffocating atmospheres float forth while distorted sicken tones are injected. The opening track lulls the listener into a false sense of relaxation before the distorted frequencies leap out to reek havoc on the listeners cerebral area. The music throughout the disc pounds on your skull without mercy and then slows down before the next eruption, ripping through your ears jamming them with feedback and beats tearing the mind apart. Every track has a nerve grating, tympanic membrane agitating attraction, sonically careens off of the interior fortress of the body... Stratvm Terror is Peter Andersson of Raison d'etre, Necrophorus, Bocksholm, Atomine Elektrine etc. and Tobias Larsson of Ocean Chief. 'Pain Implantations' were originally released in 1998 on Malignant Records as the second CD album release of the band. This re-release from Old Europa Cafe, totally refurbished from the original master and added with two more songs, is presented with complete new artwork. [press-release]

Verhagen, Darrin -- "Black Frost" -- CD -- €10
2004 Dorobo, 020, (ltd. 500)
A second part of "black | mass" trilogy by Darrin Verhagen (Shinjuku Thief, E.P.A.). If "Black Ice" delivered the 'searing pain upon arrival' to the black|mass trilogy, "Black Frost" serves as something of a gently uncomfortable antidote. Bordered by lowercase, delicate electroacoustic, sinecore and glitch terrain, "Frost" presents material considered, precise yet modest in tone. [label info]

Wiese, John & C. Spencer Yeh -- "Cincinatti" -- CD -- €10
2009 DroneDisco, fig.95, (ltd. 500)
The cooperative of composer/improvisers John Wiese (Sissy Spacek) and C. Spencer Yeh (Burning Star Core) presents new a collection of works titled "Cincinnati." So far Wiese & Yeh's previous full-length documents have been culled from live performance situations and one could site "Cincinnati" as the duo's first studio album... Recorded face-to-face in late 2007 at Ashworth Tap Room in Cincinnati OH, "Cincinnati" reveals further unexpected developments and strategies of this ongoing partnership. Familiar machineries were primed, but an increasingly alien attitude was fed through and processed into churning and bewildering shapes. The results of these sessions were catalogued and surgically isolated into specimens by Yeh; a little editing employed to carve the forms somewhat presentable, but no "studio trickery" to mask the organic nature. Mastered by Saff Mastering to sharpen the bulbs and polish the blades, the whole of the fourteen tracks form a monumentally intimate body touched by indeterminate intuition, instant composition, and interior logic. Zhivu (ex-Voe_Ero) -- "Open Space" -- 2 CD-R -- €9
2009 Zhivu, Zhivu 13-119
This release presents big, almost 2 hours long, concert of the project presented in extended and modified line-up. Along with two guitarists and a drummer, four more people took part in this action: percussion (several darbukas), experiments with voices, mouth harp, flute and a rainstick. They have actively underscored the concept and widely enriched the sound pallete. There were just four concerts in the history of the project, two of them - in park areas of Yaroslavl, Russia, and now this is a small cosy gallery "Open Space" in the city center, it's name was chosed for the release title. Everything is unchanged: walks with Mother through Childhood, Human Memory, irrepressible flow of Life in clear spontaneity in forms of psychedelic folk \ post-rock atmospheres \ states. The project has obviously grown up, the eurhythmy of common Spirit increased, and with this release it shows it's closing and also transit to different stages, returning to the name of Zhivu. A good recording which has become unusual for the project reflecting the priority of quality over quantity. Full-colour A5 sleeve. [press-release]

Atomine Elektrine -- "Nebulous" -- CD -- €14
2007 Essence Music, ESS007, (ltd. 800)
On this second installment for Essence Music, Peter Andersson brings ATOMINE ELEKTRINE to an utterly refined and perfectionist sphere! The trancey beats and sacral atmosphere of Binomial Fusion are past and widely replaced by a truly out-of-body, deeply layered and dynamic cosmic experience in form of a masterful ambience filled with energy outbursts, synthetic movements and algorithmical rhythms. An aural projection for a detailed exploration of nebulas, black holes, exploding stars and unknown deep corners of the cosmos. Very much influenced by the electronic side of the kraut scene and with the ability of imposing his very own classic trademark, Andersson sets a new stone and makes Nebulous one of the greatest albums related to this genre since the early 70’s. Another amazing proof of talent from this Swedish genius! Presented in an snowy white gatefold digisleeve and tracing paper packaging. [label info]

2008 Valgriind, VG 13, (ltd. 50)
The new release of the young Russian label Valgriind is a debut recording of a project with an epic title Bashnya Ledyanyh Voronov ("Icy Ravens Tower" in Russian). Three tracks recorded live apparently on a dictaphone. The 1st track "Gates to the crystal vast" contains slow mouth harp playing accompanied by female voice, singing a wordless song. A feeling of something winter-Slavonic... The 2nd track "Rising up the snow-clad steps towards the non-existence" really contains the recording of steps, wind, something crackles, knocks during almost 6 minutes. The 3rd track "Emptiness of icy silence" - again long monotonous mouth harp piece. Minimalism. Packed in a slim-box with attached foil rune.

Deutsch Nepal -- "Comprendido!... Time Stop!" -- CD -- €11
Cold Meat Industry, CMI.49
For more than six years this project haunted the world with deformed soundscapes and harsh noises. Within the school of industrialism, Deutsch Nepal manage to combine psychedelia with dark atmospheric ambience. The earlier releases has been filled with dark mourning sounds with ritualistic drumming that now burst out into aggression. Gone is the ethnic influence and you will meet a new form of electronic treatment and distorted voices earlier not used in the Deutsch Nepal sound-image. [press-release]

Deutsch Nepal -- "Deflagration Of Hell" -- CD -- €11
1991/2003 Cold Meat Industry, cmi127

Deutsch Nepal -- "Dystopian Partycollection" -- CD -- €11
2008 Cold Meat Industry, cmi180
Deutsch Nepals Dystopian Partycollection contain previously released material from compilations and limited edited vinyls. It is not to be seen as a major release from Deutsch Nepal but a small shop of horrors where everyone could shoplift whenever in the spirit. Quality and atmosphere is different from track to track as there is no theme or secret path to follow on this album - It's plain Deutsch Nepal - Just as we love it! So just C'mon get naked... remember nude improvised dancing is not only for fun it's also for free! This is Deutsch Nepals Dystopian Partycollection to be followed by many more sad experiences in your poor and empty lives... Tracks are taken from the following releases: Heilige Feuer (Der Angriff), 10" vinyl (WKN), Flowers Made of Snow (Cold Meat Industry), A Rainy November Day in Wroclaw (Ars Benevola Mater), Death Odours II (Slaughter Productions), 1-sided LP vinyl (Extremocidente Records), 3A4ИCTКA - Fuck the Modern World (Autarkeia). [label info]

Deutsch Nepal -- "Erosion" -- CD -- €11
1999/2009 Autarkeia, ACD 035
This probably the most depressing Deutsch Nepal album, earlier released as a limited edition by Staalplaat company, now has again become available to a wide audience. Genial project author Der General has made a remark sometime ago that during the recording of Erosion there persisted the feeling that this is the last work of Deutsch Nepal after which nothing will remain... perhaps only death. This almost came true as Deutsch Nepal went silent after the recording for nearly 10 years. Now the masterpiece of melancholy clad in an elegant digipack (the design was made by the author himself) and with an enhanced sound triumphantly opens the golden worlds to the audience again. The worlds where breathing becomes harder each moment and where you feel only a small useless toy. [press-release]

Deutsch Nepal -- "Erotikon" -- CD -- €11
2006 Cold Meat Industry, cmi166
Deutsch Nepal, is Lina B Doll, a well-known cult-phenomenon in the industrial underground scene, with several worldwide tours and collaborations with notorious artists such as Der Blutharsch, Brighter Death Now, Raison d'etre he is just as famous as he is infamous. With several respected releases on various labels such as CMI (of course), Hauruck, Staalplaat and Old Europa Cafe, it is now with great pleasure we are finally able to present a completely new studio album. On Erotikon Deutsch Nepal blooms in full decadence. Dark seductive psychodelic industrial songs - it is retro all the way back to the Nico influences, it's addictive in every sexual way - and it leaves you with a complete new experience and a sensational taste of bodily fluids. Lubrication saves! [label info]

Exit In Grey -- "Audiometry : Domination" -- CD-R -- €8
2009 Daphnia Records, ph11
Reissue of the debut 3"CDR "Audiometry" (2004) with an 18-min bonus track "Domination". Guitar drone ambient varying from almost monotonous raw and deep rumbles to gentle melancholic tunes... sonic waves and streams slowly come and pass away, leaving the listener in spellbound numbness.

Exit In Grey -- "Raktasonic" -- CD-R -- €8
2009 Daphnia Records, ph09
This album contains early recordings from 2004, made only by [S], one half of the duo. Minimal guitar drone ambient with resonating harmonies.

Five Elements Music -- "Herbal Cemetery" -- CD-R -- €8
2009 Still*Sleep, SS19
Two long ambient tracks made of field recordings: rustling leaves, herbs, branches, blowing wind, etc. An immersion into sonic micro world filled with it's unordinary life.

Five Elements Music -- "Pictures from Sand : Boiling Line" -- CD-R -- €8
2008 Still*Sleep, SS18
Two mini-albums on one disk. "Picures from Sand" is based on the sounds of sand: low-frequency gentle drones, layered and rustling, gradually accumulate slowly lingering resonances, then again turning into dry field recordings. The theme of "Boiling Line" is the sound of boiling water, but it's not that obvious at once: the noise of electric kettle transforms into wind moans, hi-pitched signals turn out to be seagull voices, and the sound of gurgling liquid is set off by monotonous low drones.

Five Elements Music -- "Stok (Drainage)" -- CD-R -- €8
2008 Still*Sleep, SS17
The album with Russian title "Stock" ("drainage") contains two tracks with soundscapes, based on the sounds of water. Unhurried laminating clear and processed field recordings create comfortable atmosphere, filled with drawling drones and resonances, and great number of small details (hissing sand, rivulets, stones and other artificially amplified natural sounds) carry away listener's attention, leaving him in a numb contemplation of the tangled sound flow.

Five Elements Music -- "VarunaGhat" -- CD-R -- €14
2007 Mystery Sea, MS40, (ltd. 100)
Russian project Five Elements Music is a shoot coming from Exit In Grey's rich compost of sound experiments, and also Sergey's solo highly organic vehicle... The name comes from a vedic concept of "Five Elements" (ETHER, Air, Fire, Water, Earth) needed to have a global approach of reality, one that goes beyond appearances, words and consciousness for an enhanced experience of Life both on an emotional, physical & spiritual level... ETHER is the central element of this bouquet, holding all forms & colors, and the human body is the perceptual tool... Five Elements Music paints a sound canvas, trying to reach a sort of supra-awareness through the manipulation of chosen sensible sonic fragments coming from some essential elemental sources... Herbst9 vs Z'EV -- "Through Bleak Landscapes" -- CD -- €14
2007 Loki Foundation, Loki 45
With this stunning collaboration the dark cavernous drones and ethnic-ritual instrumentation of Herbst9 melts with the complex and percussive sounds of industrial pionier and master of rhythmajik Z'EV. Ten tracks of deep spheres and blazing ruminant lightnings abducting you into golden constellations and swirling worlds full of aural effects and demonic resonance. Both projects worked with raw material of each other while the final mix was made by Herbst9. The result is a sombre and meditative soundtrack made with gongs, choral textures, deep vibrating strings and scraping effect-sounds reaching it's climax with outbursting tribalistic sequences and drummings. An impressive and gripping journey through bleak landscapes and abandoned places accompanied by a 24-pg booklet. [press-release]

His Divine Grace -- "Reverse Aleph" -- CD -- €14
2001 Hau Ruck!, HR!14
A lot of secrets around this band, no information. Even the labels seems to know nothing about this formation. So is the music, dark & ritual, doomy and gloomy, coming from behind, getting you in your sleep. Haunting you in your deepest nightmares. You may be dead and even then you don't know a thing about this release. Just experience it! [label info]

ICK -- "Les Hemorragies Nihilistes" -- CD -- €10
2001 Hau Ruck!, HR!25
First CD by this Frensh project this time with a more rhytmic & electronic tune! [label info]

In Slaughter Natives -- "Purgate my Stain" -- CD -- €14
1996 Cold Meat Industry, cmi129
Orchestral Industrial. Finally available, this epic milestone, previously released by Staalplaat and longtime out of stock. New artwork and remastered. [label info]

Institut -- "The Struggle Never Ended" -- CD -- €11
2005 Cold Meat Industry, cmi143, (ltd. 1000)
Lirim Cajani's project Institut should be well established now, having played a lot around Europe over the years. This newly recorded effort, the first CD without earlier member Johanna Rosenqvist, is a solid tribute to the struggle of the little man. A strong delivery of faith to the oppressed and a raging ripper for your right to only remain. The sound is more up-front live-centered, almost totally devoid of rhythms throughout and with a lot of anguished and hateful vocals. Full of drenching static and simple but effective walls of noise and reverberating samples which surely works sufficiently incisive. Kill your inconveniences! [press-release]

Ion And Sophus -- "The First Step towards the Abyss..." -- CD-R -- €8
2007 Still*Sleep, cdr1
One more project from the Exit In Grey / Five Elements Music company - created by Sergey [S] and [D]iona. Stylistically it's almost the same: totally calm atmospheric ambient woven from mainly processed field recordings and smooth synth tunes.

Ion And Sophus -- "Mini Mum" -- CD-R -- €8
2007 Still*Sleep, CDR03
Second album, recorded by Sergey [S] (Exit In Grey, Sister Loolomie, Five Elements Music) under the name of Ion And Sophus. Three minimalistic lo-fi compositions created with the use of processed field recordings and calm synthesizer lines. Third track is recorded in collaboration with Russian musician and writer Maxim Tioulenev.

Ion And Sophus -- "Three" -- CD-R -- €8
2008 Still*Sleep, CDR10
Third album of lo-fi ambient project of Sergey [s], just as gentle and fairy as previous two.

Jackdaw With Crowbar -- "Hanging in the Balance" -- LP -- €10
1991 Hax, HAX 04
JACKDAW WITH CROWBAR were an English band playing a good blend of punk, dub, ethno etc. Before the LP on Hax they had had records released on Ron Johnson Records. [label info]

Jarl -- "Breaking Point Syndrome" -- CD -- €13
2007 Autarkeia, acd 021
Breaking Point-Syndrome is the ninth album of Erik Jarl, Swedish industrial genius. Just like his previous albums, this one radiates the remarkably icy, mercilessly depressing and languorous as well as claustrophobic mood. To reach the effect, Erik simply generates unique industrial sound. His each accord smacks of unexplainable anxiety, the feeling of degenerate future, drug-induced reality, poisoning and exceptionally technocratic character. Jarl music can be qualified as psychedelic industrial/drone, while the album Breaking Point Syndrome is an excellent example of the Scandinavian mastership in creating esp. persuasive and visionary sonic landscape. Jarl -- "Wound Profile" -- CD -- €13
2007 Autarkeia, acd 024, (ltd. 500)
The album Wound Profile by Erik Jarl, the genius of Swedish electronics, previously released in a cassette, has now, after some processing of the record, come out as a CD in a very elegant digipack. The album consists of two record sessions: one of them (6 tracks) was recorded by Erik in 1999, while the other (one track) was recorded 18 months later. Those closely following the music of the Scandinavian master may recognise the early sound of Erik’s compositions in Wound Profile album that at certain points even remind the first IRM records. Clear-cut, abnormal, psychedelic rhythmics, its distorted, massive repetitions, analogous loops of synthetic sound generate the emotions of anxiety, morbidity and degeneration. Unlike Erik’s later music marked for its abstract structure and closer to drone style, the album Wound Profile can be characterised by emotional straightforwardness and brutality. [press-release]

Jazzkammer & Howard Stelzer -- "Tomorrow No One Will Be Safe" -- CD -- €10
PACrec 128, (ltd. 1000)
Tommorrow no one will be safe brings a track a piece from Norwegian noise collective Jazzkammer & Usa Electronic artist/ tape manipulator Howard Seltzer & then a one joint track. All of the tracks were recorded on the pairs tour in 2004, and offer up a creative and varied take on improvised music, noise and bizarre soundscapes... A rich and rewarding collection of erratic and often doomy soundworlds, played out with real control and depth of sound. Certainly not for those looking for all out noise attacks, but for those wanting more thought out and detailed noise craft, you can't go wrong. [from Musique Machine review]

The Finnish pioneer is back from the degenerated and alcoholized Swedish ghetto of Eskilstuna. 3rd full lenght from Markus Pesonen who now dove deeper into total Melancholy, Anti socialism, Bitterness, Disintegration and Alcoholism. Filled with what has defined KARJALAN SISSIT's sound thus far: Bombastic outbursts of Neo classical arrangements entwined in traditional Finnish Humppa and deep industrial sonorities. The songs were this time fiercly enhanced with some added vocals giving the whole album a much more aggressive touch. Again produced by Peter Bjärgö at Erebus Odora, this new album definitely stands above it's predecessors. Edition of 1000 copies in A5 book. 2nd edition. [press-release]

Lustmord -- "Juggernaut" -- CD -- €14
2007 Hydra Head, HH666-123
With sound design & production by Lustmord and guitar & vocals by King Buzzo of the Melvins, Juggernaut unleashes four tracks worth of menacing ambient tremors, boomeranged drones and ominous sonic moonscapes in swell after unsettling swell of creeping electronic deviance. Initially recorded for an art opening by hot-rod enthusiast / notorious tit man Chris "Coop" Cooper in August 2004, this version of the Juggernaut collaboration is a limited release and an updated version of the original recording. Lustmord -- "Metavoid" -- CD -- €14
Nextera, ERA 2008-2
Originally released in 2001 and being out of print for some years this is the seventh Lustmord release, and the first since 1994's "The Place Where The Black Stars Hang". "Metavoid" presents the logical development of that unmistakable Lustmord sound, and pushes further into new depths which raised global interest in Lustmord's originality as the musician and sound engineer. "The human mind is, and will forever remain, incapable of comprehending the many depths and layers that encompass the universe within which we live. We construct ever changing theoretical and semiotic perspectives in an attempt to map and decode the unknown, but meaning remains incomprehensible. Through endless corridors of silence and dread, deeper than vacuum, beyond infinity and the realm of measurement, ideographic patterns do not emerge. Our role is insignificant, and is futile at best. The sum of knowledge is nothingness. Outside the narrow confines of our intellect, larger forces are at play, and some things may best remain unknown." [label info]

Megaptera -- "Extended Chaos" -- 2 CD -- €20
2006 Autarkeia, acd 015, (ltd. 500)
MEGAPTERA's back again with yet another release to celebrate the 15 years anniversary. The new release is titled EXTENDED CHAOS and consits of two old releases, Near Death and Beautiful Chaos. Near Death is Megapteras first official release way back in 1991. It was released as a 7-track cassette on the CMI-sidelabel Sound Source. It's the first release with Peter Nystrom as an official member of the band. Near Death is also the ONLY release with all three members! Using drummachine, various synthezisers, movies, TV, radio and microphone they created a totally analog and dirty death theme. On this CD, 3 bonus tracks are added from the same period. Get prepared for old school! The second disc is a re-release of the 1998 4-track MCD Beautiful Chaos, that was released by Fever Pitch Music, USA. This time it's extended to 10 tracks. Extra material is the two classic tracks Shadowland and Sodom from the Death Odors-compilation and the two tracks from the In the Buchers Backyard-compilation. And as the top of the cake, the CD ends with a bombastic remix of the acopolyptic Final Day, signed The Protagonist, and a 9 min extended version of Shadowland, remixed by Peter Nystrom and Magnus Sundstrom. The sound of Beautiful Chaos is structured and heavy "end of the world-theme" using sampled sounds, mixed in a computer program. Both discs are mastered by the genious of Magnus Sundstrom. Necrophorus -- "Elinros" -- CD -- €11
2005 Yantra Atmospheres, YA-2005-07
Classical dark ambient album done by master of this genre. Singing bowls and flutes, synthesized sound layers and field recordings. Profound fabulous poetry of a murky forest.

Necrophorus -- "Imprints" -- CD -- €11
2007 Wrotycz Records, WRT 006
Beautiful, sensitive and electrified. 'Imprints' by Necrophorus goes beyond the previous album 'elinros' (2005) and further investigates the aural landscape of imagination and mysticism. 'Imprints' vibrates a fresh air mixed of three dimensional electrified organic field recordings and minimal immersive sequenced organ sounds thus creating the psychedelic atmosphere of virtually being inside the music, inside the magic circle of the aural landscape. 'Imprints' is the fifth CD album from Necrophorus/Peter Andersson (Sweden) who is most known for the project raison d'etre with several masterpiece releases on the Swedish legendary Cold Meat Industry label. Inspired by the impressions of his visit to the amazing landscapes of Iceland summer 2006, Peter Andersson has created a new astonishing aural output. 'Imprints' consists of three variations of the same impression: two of them are pure studio composisitons while the third variation is improvised as 'live in studio' recording. [press-release]

Nordvargr, Henrik Bjørkk -- "Vitagen" -- CD -- €14
Essence Music, ESS004, (ltd. 800)
Driven by obsessive ideas and an uncontrollable will of producing quality ambience, he's the man of many projects - MZ.412, Folkstorm, Toroidh, not to mention the successful recent collaboration with Masami Akita (aka Merzbow) - but it's under his given name and very own grim fashion that Mr. Bjorkk delivers the most suffocating music around. Pitch black holes of sound meet glitchy, cold elektronika overtones and haunted minimalist atmospheres, building a foundation for rhythmic movements, detailed drones, distant rumbles and disembodied voices. The different shades of black and grey Nordvargr paints with have never been more disturbing and at the same time more beautiful. The definitive masterwork from the Nordic giant of modern dark ambient music! Mastered by Peter Andersson. [label info]

Cyclic Law, 16th Cycle
3rd full lenght album from Norway's most renowned Ambient Atmospheric act. HORIZONS is a collection of 7 long ambient landscapes, lonely sceneries on the verge of night, places we long for, places we have been, sanctuaries from mankind, devoid of human elements. Novy Svet -- "Faccia a Faccia" -- CD -- €14
2006 The Nekofutschata Musick Cabaret, neko 17
Unavailable for some years, "Faccia a Faccia", NOVY SVET's second album, stands out as a classic from the late 90's post-industrial explosion. First issued by the now defunct british WSD label, here's this influential album now in new artwork and with a different ghost track from the same sessions. Foggy music and scratched melodies make up this CD that once was named the best release to commit suicide to. In other words: just beautiful. [label info]

Novy Svet -- "Fin. Finito. Infinito" -- CD -- €14
Nekofutschata, Neko 16
Even within the enigmatic discography of NOVY SVET the album FIN. FINITO. INFINITO takes a special place. The original 12" coming in an edition of 77 copies only offered nothing more than the title in embossed red letters - the rest was all blackness. The group's comments to this major work summed up to complete silence, which opened space for a mass of partly obscure interpretations. For sure this album was conceived as a good-bye, finding a climax in the suicidal title track. Rare example of a cult item coming up to the listener's expectations for the first time on digital format. [label info]

O Paradis -- "Las Nubes Que Mueren" -- 2 CD -- €18
2006 Punch Productions, PP016
This work contains all the tracks from "O Paradis" never used in the past. The Cd one is from the new period of the project, and the second Cd is a re-mastered vision of old demos. It was important for Demian to recuperate this abandoned tracks cause inside them we can find the clouds that in the past were crossing the sky of "O Paradis" and now they dissapear like a presentation for the new show. These clouds die over your head in form of little tears without nostalgia and without happiness. Right now the thunderstorm is growing on the driving mirror and we are running away to find our place on earth. 32 unreleased songs, for a total running time of over 92:00 minutes of pure poetry! Obozdur -- "Proceedings of Court of Enquiry" -- CD-R -- €6
2007 Heart-Shaped Box Prod., HSB-019, (ltd. 26)
This release contains even less sense than deliberately idiotic discs and cassettes of omnious Monopolka. Home dictaphone recording about how two students and one girl try to make the homework on comparison of distinctive features of utopian socialists of XVI-XVII centuries. At the same time they play on all the instruments around (toys, accordion, harmonica, etc.). All this tragically ends by reading phragments of Tommazo Kampanella's works with soundtrack from "Requiem for a Dream" movie.

Orplid -- "Sterbender Satyr" -- CD -- €16
Auerbach Tontrager, AB014
Orplid's "Sterbender Satyr" is as successful a mosaic of language, music, and representing images, as were their earlier releases. Apart from almost purely acoustic, mostly guitar-based songs, however, their new release sees Frank Machau and Uwe Nolte increasingly aiming for more ethereal soundscapes. Aside from Uwe's distinctive lyrics, it has become a cherished stable of Orplid to include settings of classical poetry on their albums. Uwe takes considerable pride in their interpretation of Oda Schaefer's poem 'Die Seherin', a track that ranks with Orplid's most expressive works. On this song the group collaborated with the artist Sandra Fink from Leipzig whose vocal delivery "is a reflection of the poem's archaic depths, rendered with a theatrical sensibility." "Sterbender Satyr" underlines a development that was already apparent in ist predecessor, "Nächtliche Juenger" (2003): Orplid are not a pure (Neo) Folk band, even if their early releases might have made that impression. The two musicians are rather constantly working on their unique settings of Uwe's "New German Poetry": lyrical, fragile, and sensitive, but powerful in expression and interpretation. [label info]

Panzar -- "Pratotypon" -- CD -- €11

Post Scriptvm -- "Marginal Existence" -- CD -- €15
2005 Hermetique, H-CD04, (ltd. 500)
A sound work on its own. An extremely dark one. Some sort of contemplative mirror of a sick society. It is without artifice that this American project hailing from New-York (Brooklyn) unveils us a neat and unhealthy piece of sound work of an incredible intrinsic maturity. A now mad and rabid, now suffocating atmosphere. The thread seems uncertain and lures the listener into a cruel maze with no exit. Here each sound is disembodied, jammed and torn out. Is this reality or is it fiction? On edge. Existence is a painful last resort. A desperate move. In search of one's own body, of one's own destiny. The journey is a dangerous and solitary one. Putrefied flesh, fleshless and revengeful spectres. Clockwork is irremediably running towards its last turn. Paralyzing. Like a trepan, Post-Scriptvm goes deeply into the unutterable side of our mind and of our sensitivity. A journey with no safe return guarantee and a possible dead end as an outlet in a pitiless and disjointed pipe dream like scenery. In the heart of the senses and of the emotion. The search for the past, for history and for existence lies in the fact of digging the earth among rubble and muddy bones in order to rebuild this macabre and moribund puzzle of our human life ad infinitum. A unique masterpiece incarnating an open-heart operative field, a brain surgery of the last chance during which a general anaesthesia is proscribed. Mastered by Jerome Nougaillon (Propergol), it comes in special envelope with inserts and is limited to 500 copies. [label info]

Post Scriptvm -- "Raspad" -- CD -- €14
2007 Tesco Organisation, TESCO 066
Raspad is Russian for disintegration. This is the third full length album by Post Scriptvm. It was mastered by Jerome Nougaillon (Propergol). Dense, thickly-layered industrial ambient music, exploring the abysmal pathology of modernity - illusion of progress, dissolution of memory, abandonment of higher meaning and paralysis of the will. The advanced lethargy of human spirit. Rich structure of music plays subtle tricks on the listener's subconsciousness, and the mood slowly drifts from quiet melancholy to visceral intensity. An example on how to use analog and digital equipment in creating a special way of sound, a brilliant example of innovative music outstanding form the mass of releases. [label info]

PPF / ICK -- "Collectivistes / Individualistes" -- LP -- €13
2006 Steelwork Machine, SMR04, (ltd. 500)
PPF and ICK are true Industrial / Power noise fiends who have some rather tasty releases out there if you can find them. [...] Here PPF have 2 tracks, ICK have 4 tracks and the remaining 4 tracks are collaborations between both. [...] Here are the fundamental principles of Industrial music put to an invigorating and quite quintessential ecstatic set of tracks that uses old analogue equipment and electronic effects to put their music across. Sounding like the bastard offspring of Throbbing Gristle and SPK the simplified beats and distorted vocals over the simplified in the best possible way electronic patterns are a joy to listen to. No histrionics or over abundance of overblown debris, just an unassuming guilty pleasure to immerse oneself in. Fuck originality. Overrated at the best of times. A blast from the past updated for the now. And French to boot. Who would ever have believed it. I've read a fairly negative review of this release elsewhere and cannot believe he listened to the same record that I'm thoroughly besotted with. Another critical cunt who deserves shooting. Fuck his words. Read mine and believe. For I would never lie to any of you. This release is worth buying a record player for alone. [...] [Judass Kiss]

Sangre Cavallum -- "Veleno De Teixo" -- CD -- €14
2007 Ahnstern, Ahnstern28
The northern Portuguese Sangre Cavallum return with a new and outstanding folk album. It is titled “Veleno de Teixo” meaning Yew Poison and it is a collection of tributes to women and to the cult of mother-goddess in pre-Christian era. "Veleno de Teixo" contains a brand-new set of 16 powerful songs between pagan folk and power-psych atmospheres. Inspired by the music and ethnography of their homeland Callaecia/northern Portugal. It is laboriously produced, capturing the revolutionary minds of these musicians. Among many traditional instruments they play the hurdy-gurdy, bagpipes, flutes, folkloric guitars, war-drums and many times these acoustic instruments are transformed with heavy distortions and meet the psychedelic bass and vintage guitars. It also features the new singer Emanuel Melo da Cunha on a fine debut. "Veleno de Teixo" is a step forward in their wonderful path and a pleasing example of how tradition is a living thing when folklore meets folk rock or dark industrial music. Includes great artwork and a 16 page booklet with psych-photo art and beautiful texts. 63 min. / 16 tracks. [press-release]

Sister Loolomie / Polaris -- "Out Of Space" -- 3" CD-R -- €6
2005 Abgurd Subdivision, AB-14, (ltd. 256)
Mini-split of two Russian drone ambient projects. Sister Loolomie presented a beautiful composition "The Colour Out Of Space" painted with the whole palette of emotional colours. Recognizable sound of the project received a new vibe: granulated guitar crackling is amplified with harmonic melodic influxes evolving in noise apotheosis. The track of Polaris - "The Shadow Out Of Space" - is much more introvertive and filled with gloomy interstices and wandering cold winds.

Sonne Hagal -- "Jordansfrost" -- CD -- €15
2008 Luftschutz Entertainment, Luftschutz 011
SONNE HAGAL's second full-time album once more bestows the listener with a journey into the unknown realms of poetry, mysteries and enthralling melodies. Closely connected to Europa's folk-music tradition and the Northern mysteries, the band develops song structures that reach from simple traditional arrangements to complex compositions. The songs, performed in German and English, reveal rediscovered poems as well as self-written lyrics. The atmosphere of the songs varies from intimate, quiet parts to fresher, light-hearted and lively sounds up to heavy distorted parts supported by real or electronic drums. Each song unfolds its own universe, interconnected by the central idea of "Jordansfrost": the constant changing between light and darkness, the seasons or even life and death themselves. A number of well-known international artists supports the band in their intention to create more than just music: a whole philosophy. Amongst others you'll find: Of The Wand And The Moon (DK), In Gowan Ring (US), Waldteufel (US), Ernte (GER), Lux Interna (US), Darkwood (GER) and Black Sun Productions (CH). The cover artwork uses exclusive paintings by Fabrice/Divine Comedy Records (FR) and underlines the depth and beauty of these 45 minutes of German Darkfolk. Special Digipak comes in three different artworks. [label info]

Stratvm Terror -- "Fixation" -- CD -- €12
2005 Old Europa Cafe, OECD 072
New CD of collaboration project of Peter Andersson and Tobias Larsson contains old material from 1998-99, 2 new tracks, one track from "Death Odors II" compilation published by Slaughter Productions in 1997 and one live recorded track. Although the album doesn't sound like a collection of separate pieces and has it's own atmosphere. Sometimes the sound blurres in sombre fog, sometimes condences in brutal harsh tension, in general, great death industrial album.

Survival Unit -- "Fentanyl Martyrs" -- 2 CD -- €22
2007 Autarkeia, acd 020
Survival Unit Fentanyl Martyrs 2-golden-CD box is the latest cultural terror attack coming from cultic non-compromising Swedish postmortem/power electronics project. This time an especially dreadful and relevant theme has been chosen for compromising the declared illusions of human civilisation. Both discs have been dedicated to Chechnya undergoing the total genocide, the total war where neither honour nor rules are acknowledged, except perhaps those of Marquis de Sade, who - bearing in mind the facts of this war - would have never imagined how far the fantasy of brutal people can advance in order to dominate, torture and control those resembling themselves [...] This time the album of the conceptual project Survival Unit - unlike the earlier albums contained in intentionally cheap, anarchistic DIJ aesthetics and packages - will be a posh release. A special 3-part digipack, 20-page booklet, 2 golden CDs and a special manually-made box will spit into the face of those mocking underground and the truth. Total dirt, horror, bloody audiovisual collages, non-compromising mockery of illusions: the TRUTH will be packed in special luxury. On the one hand, it is a real pity because this is the grand pre-funeral wake of the Survival Unit project. Yet, the legendary project leaving to Valhalla must be specially honoured. So, no wonder that the independent AUTARKEIA, which has previously buried Megaptera giant very solemnly, has been chosen for arranging the funeral. [label info]

Svartsinn -- "Traces Of Nothingness" -- CD -- €15
Cyclic Law, 13th Cycle
The 3rd offering from Norway's Svartsinn could be acknowledged as the end of a trilogy, the first opus "Devouring Consciousness" was an album containing stories made during what the artist explains as being some difficult and rough times. The second offering, "Of Darkness And Re-Creation", was the process of trying to deal with these struggles and reflect on them. "Traces Of Nothingness" is simply the reaction, result and the path ahead in this ongoing, seemingly endless darkness. A slightly more melodic, sad and obscure side of Svartsinn that still keeps the cold and dark atmosphere that defines his sound. [press release]

Svasti-ayanam is Peter Andersson's foray into dark, Tibetan-Nepalese ambience. Andersson is well known for his work as Raison D'etre, Atomine Elektrine etc. In this incarnation, his signature Raison D'etre sound has been modified in an incredibly pronounced, and effective way. Sanklesa is marked by strong tribal rhythms that draw the listener into distant, foreign, ritual soundscapes. Andersson has released a prolific catalogue of music, that includes many CD's, limited vinyl and countless compilation appearances. Album incl. 2 exlusive bonus-tracks. [press-release]

Tam Quam Tabula Rasa -- "Fabula Rasa" -- CD -- €10
2001 Old Europa Cafe, OECD 034
Maybe the more obscure ethno-post-industrial Italian project! A real obscure mind is behind this great researcher of abrasive structures & absolute sounds … It’s incredible that their debut cd is coming only now as they are composing this great muzak since the ’80! TQTR has out some tapes on OEC & Misty Circles + a 7" on Drone ... very "sexual" cover art-work for "adults only"! [press-release]

Vromb -- "Locomotive" -- 10" -- €11
2003 .ANGLE.REC., .A.R.10.01., (ltd. 500)
Hot on the heels of his latest 10inch, Le Tourne-Disque, which gained a very strong response from both fans and critics, Vromb strikes again with another 10inch release, this time focussing on the concept of locomotives and railways. Originally commissionned in 1994 for a theater play, called Faire du Train, the sound material on this release was recently re-worked and enhanced by the artist and it definitely pursues on the minimal technoid approach found on many Vromb past and recent releases, with atmospheric-oriented openings, intermezzos and closings, in purest Vromb tradition. Upon hearing the first seconds of the opening track, with the train passing in a desert plain, by night, at an unstoppable pace, the listener will undoubtedly recall some childhood memories, those moments when he heard the locomotive roar from the neighboring railway, seconds before falling asleepЕand was then dragged into organico mechanical dreamsЕ And then comes the sloppy, fat, blueprint Vromb rhythmic section. Wereju -- "When The Heart Shows Trough" -- CD-R -- €8
2008 Still*Sleep, CDR08
Blurry, eerie drones that have a lot in common with Aidan Baker's solo guitarscapes, but this is darker stuff. Heavily processed feedback swells in tide-like form, deep and sonorous, and underneath the warbling ambience is a dark soundworld enveloped in shadow. Muted melancholy melodies appear and disappear, soft whorls of sound carry over vast expanses of blackness, and reverberating strings hum suspended in the air. Wereju inhabits a realm of mysterious, drifting, meditative dark ambience. [Crucial Blast Records]

Yav' -- "Breath of Nav'" -- CD-R -- €6
2009 Valgriind, VG 26
Ambient project from Belgorod, released as DVD-envelope with black & white printing, runic inserts and pine needles from the evergreen spaces of Rus'. Digital material, born from the silence and majesty of forests, from detachment of falling leaves in the coldness of autumn's night. [label info]

V/A -- "3A4ИCTKA (Fuck The Modern World)" -- CD -- €13
2005 Autarkeia, acd 007, (ltd. 900)
The release dedicated to the second festival of industrial music - NORDIC AUDIO MODERN which took place in Vilnius on 7 May 2005. Compilation consists of tracks never published, remixed or performed by the world's famous guests of the festival - CON-DOM, THE GREY WOLVES, DEUTSCH NEPAL, FROZEN FACES, HAZARD, JANITOR, TRAUR ZOT, WEJDAS. In the slang of Russian military task-force, "Zachystka" carries the meaning of purging the certain territory of everything that moves and breathes. Shortly speaking - destruction. Many of industrial-minded people who had been attended the second NORDIC AUDIO MODERN festival stated that it was one of the most tremendous acts of brain defragmentation through their whole life. This CD may be considered the odd memento of that unforgettable night. Zachystka !!! [press-release]

V/A -- "Cold Meat Industry Live In Australia" -- DVD -- €12
2007 Cold Meat Industry, cmi170
February 2006 saw Melbourne, Australia play host to 3 of the longest running and most influential acts from Sweden’s cult ambient industrial record label Cold Meat Industry. To seal the deal, collaborative and side projects and some high calibre Australian supports contributed to Australia’s premier Cold Meat Industry Festival, brought to you by Family Friendly and Heartland Records. Two nights of mayhem, drunkeness and antics. Two evenings of hallucinatory industrial rhythms, beautiful, haunting ambience, monstrous rumbling, clanking steel and dark orchestral scores. Two shows of droning death industrial nightmares, harsh noise and abrasive power electronics topped only by pigtails and balloons. After all; what is a party without balloons? Not only did Family Friendly have the foresight to bring such long overdue acts to the land of sunburn, marsupials and beer, they also had the foresight to record events as they unfolded. For the artists this means posterity. For you it means you get to either re-live it (if you were fortunate enough to be there) or live it through the eyes and ears of others if you weren’t. You could use it as an expensive drink coaster but we’d suggest that would be silly. It’s too good to get wet... Featuring: Manticle, Shinjuku Thief, Brighter Death Now, Bocksholm, raison d'etre, Isomer, Frozen Faces, Atomine Elektrine, Deutsch Nepal. [press-release]
