Hi everyone!

First of all I'd like to tell that while we're unable to accept payments by PayPal, we started using the system called Moneybookers. It's a safe UK-based system working in a similar way as PayPal. Yes, it may seem a bit unconvenient to spemd your time on registering there and waiting for verification procedure, but after you make it once, it starts to work fine. You will be able to easily pay for your order from your bank account / credit card. More information you can find at their website: http://www.moneybookers.com.

Today the mailorder catalogue is updated by mainly Russian and mainly underground releases. In particular, the new releases were presented by the labels Operator Produkzion, Sickcore, Cold Graey, Faria Records (including a reissue of a classical Bad Sector album "Dolmen Factory"), Aquarellist (new album of Hybryds), InterioRepertoR, Observatoire and new trash-noise label HlobKorobRecords releasing their music in CD-RW format (their slogan is "erase after listening!").

Also new stuff came from Finnish Some Place Else, Polish Beast Of Prey and some other labels.

Adriva -- "Lacte Sessia" -- CD-R -- €9

One 30-min. piece made in monotonous drone ambient way typical for Adriva, but at the same time "shifted" towards more fluent mood: the sound became more flowing, loops - more wave-sounding, atmosphere - more abstract.

Baghiri, Amir & Wee Bandits -- "A Brief History of Light" -- CD-R -- €12
2007 Blue Box, BB0706
On "A Brief History Of Light" Amir Baghiri and guests mix mesmerizing floating textural electronica and high tech chill-out/down tempo music. The cd kicks off with the dynamic "Falling Star", which featured quite a heavy dance beat, before we move into the great sequencing and soundscapes of the engaging "Cosmic Axis". More floating textures follow in the very nice tracks "Ghosts of the Dark Wood" and "Between Shadows and Fog", which beautifully realm in sort-of Steve Roach territory. The ten minute "Origins of Light" is another atmospheric outing with mesmerizing, deep sound worlds, fx's, vocal samples and a slow sequence, in which more trance rhythms pop in halfway. "Asphalt Wolf" is next, a four minute trance dance track with lots of fx's, moving into "Princes of Light", which has some vocals. The realm in this and the following tracks is overall chill-out. It's difficult to describe the music on this album, so you best check out the sound clips. [press-release]

2007 Sewer Records, SEWER 009, (ltd. 150)
Biological Terror - "30 minutes of torture and pure insanity in your ears, explosion of your mind" - the style of the Brazilian trio can be described as Punk Ambient Avantgarde, probably... Anyway, insanity is gushing without any limit here. Ego Death - great old school Rough Noise with fat analogue sound and pieces of ethnic tunes sounding as if they were played on squeaking metal gates. [YAOP description]

Cannibe - semi-digital amateur grindcore. Ego Death - old school Industrial Noise based on feedbacks and psychopathic screams, somewhere between Napalmed and Bizarre Uproar. [YAOP description]

Catatonic Factum -- "s/t" -- CD-R -- €7
2008 Operator Produkzion, OPERPRODUKT45, (ltd. 45)
Painted in cold sullen colours of non-agressive Industrial, icy Space Ambient and sometimes even brutal Harsh Noise, this album is a documentary precise portrait of the civilization in the end of Kali-Yuga, the hell on Earth, the most horrible anti-utopia which became the reality. Gloomy reign of machines managing everything, zombie people dully doing their work in hope to damp their fear of themselves for at least an hour, cybersystems without masters, because everyone - from the almighty corporation heads to the last bums - are the slaves of the idiotic solidarity of weakness. Gmashes and rustles of the unknown aggregates, morse peeps, radio intercepts of office talks (which stink of depression and fear much more than any contemporary "suicide rock"). Even the appeal to the glorious pages of the national history is impregnated with pompous hollywood reek of mass-culture. A remarkable audio-film about our common concentration camp. Strongly recommended. 45 copies are packed in the pages and photos from the report of the US Mine Department of the Interior from 1973. Each copy is unique. [press-release]

Coelacanth -- "The Chronograph" -- CD -- €12
2003 Helen Scarsdale Agency, HMS 000, (ltd. 500)
The Chronograph is the debut release from Coelacanth (collaboration project of Loren Chasse and Jim Haynes). The album opens with an lengthy passage of creakingly creepy submariner ambience as if the oxidization process itself had been amplified within the realm of the audible. Spiked electrical surges and controlled feedback oscillations build the intensity of the album, until Coelacanth unleashes their symphony of tiny whirring machines, gritty textual striations, and clattering pulsations. The Chronograph then descends into a blissful tone float of dense bell reverberations and oceanic washes of shortwave. Independent of each other, both Haynes and Chasse have qualified this album as 'phosphorescent'. [label info]

Corder, Jason & Opium -- "Autunno" -- CD-R -- €12
2006 Practising Nature, PN019
Jason Corder's percussive minimalism interwoven with Opium's drones. Jason Corder - The moniker "Off the Sky" was originally birthed as a simple misinterpretation of an obscure line from that famous film Trainspotting. Random as its conception was, Off the Sky is an all too apropos title summating the dub-atmospheric and acoustic solo projects emanating from Jason Corder's studio in Kentucky, USA. It is a humble hand that reflects both his mild mannered nature and his usual "in-the-clouds" mind-set. Jason's musical style is loosely inspired by the likes of Monolake, Gas, and Christian Fennesz. Teo Zini (Opium) was born in Bollate, Milan (Italy) in 1979 and now lives in Varese. His love for electronic music began when he was 15. His first experiments were created with the first home personal computer soundcards. Through software he creates rich drones and complex soundscapes often using etnic/tribal sounds and beats. Opium is also involved in other projects such as Sola Translatio with Alio Die. [label info]

Corder, Jason & Opium -- "Thepresentday" -- CD-R -- €12
2006 Practising Nature, PN019
Opium drones and ethnic elements are interwoven with Jason Corder's percussive minimalism to create a flowing long-form work of seven fascinating movements. [label info]

Cumsock / Ego Death -- "Fight Till You Die" -- CD-R -- €7
2007 Sewer Records, SEWER 006, (ltd. 150)
Cumsock - 30 microsongs of fucked-up grind with noisecore - in vein of the great Finns Nekro-Torso. Ego Death have obviously decided to experiment with all the styles of post-industrial sounds here: radionoise, harsh, something Abruptum-like... what's pleasant, that everything's made in good old school manner. [YAOP description]

Cunnan -- "Foxfire and Aconite" -- CD-R -- €12
Shining Day, cyt 011, (ltd. 30)
This is the handmade limited art edition (30) of the much touted Woven Wheat Whispers download album. Cunnan are Alan Trench, Christopher Patinios and Stephen Robinson of Temple Music with Tracy Jeffery of Orchis on vocals and Julie Brackenbury on violin. "Foxfire and Aconite" is a strange mix of the experimental and the traditional, of the brooding soundscape (complete with Middle English spoken word) of At The Mass Of St Secaire and the dulcimer led folk pop of Lych Owl, of retelling of the Dutch mediaeval beast epic Reynaert The Fox. Full of both chiming guitars and threating synthesisers, djembe, darambuka and string machine and topped with mystical lyrical imagery, "Foxfire And Aconite" is destined to become a classic. Faryus -- "Night Forest Reality" -- CD -- €11
2008 Faria Records, FAR-20, (ltd. 500)
"Night Forest Reality" describes a world which does not exist in daylight, arising when the last dying beam of sunshine fades from dark shaggy branches of old trees, when air becomes damp and hearing sharpens. A constant feeling of someone's presence borders the periphery. From the impenetrable darkness in the heart of the wood, a cool wind forces leaves to tremble, hardly distinguishable in the twilight. It only imparts its vibration and a touch of cold air to the face, a suggestion of swaying branches, sparkling streams and the rustle of revived grass. Dew drops barely sparkle in the gloom, reflecting the stars blinking in bottomless moonless depth. The night wood, frightening and attracting, living an invisible life, populated by unfamiliar ancient beings. Almost nothing visible in the impenetrable darkness, but exposing its mysteries via sounds of the unseen, of that which should not be seen." [D.I. Abigor]

Grassow, Mathias & guests -- "Dronament" -- CD-R -- €12
2006 Practising Nature, PN008
Atmospheres and drones flavoured with tribal rhythms, Indian instruments and ambient guitar. Reminiscent of textbook ethno- or eco-ambient by the likes of Vidna Obmana, Antonio Testa and Alio Die. Unlike their classic works, however, there is the occasional "disturbance" in the ambient atmosphere, when flatulent horns and chaotic percussion clatter and clash for just an instant, like a sudden thunderstorm. [label info] The guests are: Holger Brune, Klaus Wiese, Carsten Agthe, Markus Reuter, SiRenee.

Grassow, Mathias & guests -- "Opus Posthumum" -- CD-R -- €12

Ritual Drone Ambient. [YAOP description]

Haynes, Jim -- "Telegraphy by the Sea" -- CD -- €12
2006 Helen Scarsdale Agency, HMS 009, (ltd. 500)
Mr. Haynes has forged a breathtaking album of mangled field recordings and droning techniques perched at the allegorical intersection of electromagnetic landscapes and meteorological phenomena. Here, it is not uncommon to find exasperated blasts of air bellowing in harmony with a swarm of mechanical locusts and a tumbling landslide of jagged rock. Yet Mr. Haynes grounds the bulk of the album in a dynamic play of sinusoidal drones. At times, these timbral flutterings waver into asymmetrical smears of holy-minimalist splendor; at others, monolithic grey slabs of drone collapse upon themselves into turbulent oceanic currents. If comparisons must be made, perhaps Telegraphy By The Sea parallels William Basinski at his most fortified or The Hafler Trio at his least arcane. [label info]

Hellguard -- "Gramm" -- CD-R -- €7

Quite interesting and qualitative Dark Ambient / Postindustrial in vein of releases of Cold Meat and Fluttering Dragon. [YAOP description]

Hybryds -- "Dreambient" -- CD + DVD -- €17
2008 Aquarellist, aquarel 07-08, (ltd. 1000)
HYBRYDS is a Belgian ritual-esoteric project, which in the early 90-s released it's most significant album "Music for Rituals" on the cult label Artware run by Donna Klemm (R.I.P.). They have reached the peak of creativity in 90-s with their classical discs "The Ritual Should Be Kept Alive" parts 1 & 2, "Soundtrack For The Aquarium", recorded for the Antwerp water park, "Dreamscapes From A Dark Side", "Tectonic Overload". In 2000 the female member of HYBRYDS, Yasnaia, leaves the band, and Magthea is busy with his project NA-DHA for some time. The new album of HYBRYDS, "Dreambient" is based on exploration of the female characters from the Pagan past: archetypes of the seducer, the demon, the girl, the whore, the slave, the mistress, the priest, the mother... The music of the project has become more accessible for uninitiated listeners: traditional ambient-ritual basis is enriched with rhythmic electronics, melodic synthesizer tunes and even guitar parts. Vocals are now done by Madeline Arndt from the German darkwave/gothic band Schattenkinder. Audio-CD is supplemented by a DVD containing a visualization of the subconscious flow of religious and erotic archetypes. The release is packed in a double-digipak with a booklet. [press-release]

Inami, Sunao -- "Delayed" -- CD -- €12
2004 Electr-ohm, TCCD-20041
Sunao Inami's music's main strength lies in repetition, but where the "poison" lies is different every time: electronics, glitch, techno, noise, ambient; the result of recent years of progression, digression and collaboration from which he's gained impetus, irritation and motivation. By soaking up these sensations, he has arrived at his most recent sound. Inami embraces the thrill of improvisation on the Powerbook G4 and the feeling of tension and composition from the newest DSP recording methods and any and every editing process. For "Delayed" he used a Waldorf synth for hardware, and mainly Reaktor 4, Live, Spark, Logic 6 and Protools for software. Otherwise spoons and other kitchen utensils. [label info]

Inami, Sunao -- "How Bow 2" -- CD -- €12
2008 Electr-ohm, TCCD-20081
The concept of HOW-BOW is newer technology experimentation or deep electro-acoustic instrumentation. "HOW-BOW" was released by C.U.E. records on 2003 and it hard to find ltd. CDR release. (but it available on iTunes store now) after 5 years, "HOW-BOW 2" comes. but sound character is totally different. "HOW-BOW" was glitch and click based IDM, "HOW-BOW 2" is drone, dark ambient and early 80s industrial experimentation with current DSP based sound treatments. (for example, GRM tools, Eventide, Sound Toys special complicated effects) almost sounds generated from field recordings, but sound character is cyber industrial tastes with organic dark ambient soundscapes. This CD recommended for dark ambient noise fans and classical industrial music fans. also, it's very good reference for sound design of computer based alchemists. and if you have "HOW-BOW", please play together "HOW-BOW" and "HOW-BOW2". then you will get another electro-acoustic soundscapes. Inami, Sunao -- "An Impulse of Acoustic" -- CD -- €12
2005 Electr-ohm, TCCD-20051

The sounds influence from IDM and glitch or electronica stuff of these days, and also German electronics or experimental of the 70s and the early '80s industrial music. Sunao used NI Reaktor 4, Absynth, Ableton Live 4, Waldorf synthesizers mainly. [label info]

Metaorganism -- "I:Baphomet" -- CD-R -- €7
2008 Some Place Else, SPECDR08048
Metaorganism was conceived — or discovered — in Kuuskulma studio while conducting various experiments with sinewaves, oscillators and feedback. Metaorganism is based on — or communicates through — a network of digital and analog devices transmitting information to each other, back and forth. In the system, a minor change in a supposedly insignificant parameter may unexpectedly change the overall course of the sound. Everything affects everything — as above, so below... At some point of its development, the system will reach a state of balance where it seems to become self-reliant — independent, evolving — and in a sense a communicating entity which becomes conscious of itself. The Manifestation occurs, through sound. A series of recording sessions were held, with the attempt to experiment with the system to serve certain 'hermetic' purposes, to influence the nature of Manifestation, ie. what exactly is invoked in/through the sound. I:Baphomet is the first in what is being planned as a series of Metaorganism audio documents. [press-release]

Murmer -- "We Share a Shadow" -- CD -- €12
2007 Helen Scarsdale Agency, HMS 011, (ltd. 300)
Murmer is the pseudonym for Patrick McGinley, a man with several passports which have taken him to many a foreign land in search of found sounds of the unsettled, the forgotten, the mysterious, and the beautiful. His field recordings of activated environments (e.g. resonant industrial spaces, windswept telephone lines, bowed branches, gasping ventilator systems, etc.) originate from all of the locations where he has traveled; yet, the documentation of these sounds is the not the terminus of McGinley's work. He is far more interested in extracting a particular emotional, transcendent, or metaphysical kernel from those sounds, and then recontextualizing that germinated sound into sympathetic compositions of magnificent dronemusik... We Share A Shadow continues where Murmer left off with the exceptional Husk album (in collaboration with Jonathan Coleclough), in spiraling his manipulated field recordings as a slow revelation of the environmental sonorities that undeservedly go unnoticed each and every day. Singing frequencies of a bowed piece of metal undulate against a grey tapestry of rain and rasping insects. Golden overtones from shimmering drones quell what agitated textures reside in McGinley's active field recordings, rendering the aggregate sound a nocturnal opiate with considerable potency. Myrrman -- "PorNOsmagoria" -- CD-R -- €6
2008 Cold Graey, MF12, (ltd. 57)
This is a solo-project of ArnoldPR of Reutoff. The rhythm is essentially closer to Das Reut, with its apocalyptic harmony and striking-down samples. The music is easy, but you feel its extreme heaviness after digging it. The album goes straight to the deepest sides of consciousness to settle in there and turn everything upside down. The release presented as an oversized handmade digipack. [press-release]

Nedicry -- "Sincere Wounds" -- CD-R -- €6
2008 Cold Graey, MF11, (ltd. 57)
This is a magnificent piece of old-school dark ambient. Melodically consistent sound that is unusual for the modern ear refers to the foundations of independent industrial as well as the grands of neo-classics. The bands as Reguard Extreme, A Challenge of Honour, Der Feuerkreiner may be recalled. Nevertheless, Nedicry emphasizes string section. Nilsen, B.J. & Stilluppsteypa -- "Vikinga Brennivin" -- CD -- €12
2005 Helen Scarsdale Agency, HMS 004, (ltd. 700)
In their poetically abject celebration of brennivin (a special Icelandic liquor), Stilluppsteypa (comprised of Sigtryggur Berg Sigmarsson and Helgi Thorsson) accepted the invitation from Swedish composer BJ Nilsen to collaborate upon an album related to alcohol and its mind-numbing effects. Nilsen has been working in various constellations of experimental music, best known for his recordings as Hazard published through Touch and Ash International. Focusing the perception of natural sounds through a reconstruction of time and space, Nilsen has rendered the commonplace sounds of wind, rain, and snow as stealthfully seductive and quietly menacing drifts of frozen sound. Their resultant collaboration is an existentialist allegory in which the three drunkenly stumble out in a Scandinavian winter night and spiral toward the inevitable point in which they blackout. Lest this be construed as a derelict piece of method acting, the craft that Nilsen, Sigmarsson, and Thorsson brought to Vikinga Brennivin is impeccable, as the extended soundfields breath with the majesty of distant fog horns and sparkle with the delicate light of countless stars cast down from the black heavens onto the frozen tundra below. Frightening and barren, yet hauntingly compelling, Vikinga Brennivin is an isolationist masterpiece. [label info]

Nilsen, B.J. & Stilluppsteypa -- "Drykkjuvisur Ohljodanna" -- CD -- €12
2006 Helen Scarsdale Agency, HMS 008, (ltd. 1000)
In Scandinavia, it's not uncommon to hear of someone's mother, grandfather, uncle, or plumber who drank him-or-herself to death at an early age; and the Swedish drone artist BJ Nilsen has felt the alcoholic pangs which may foreshadow his own demise. In recent years, Nilsen has turned to his Icelandic neighbors Sigtryggur Berg Sigmarsson and Helgi Thorsson (collectively known as Stilluppsteypa) in existential sympathy over the problems of their collective lust for alcohol. Drykkjuvisur Ohljodanna marks the second collaborative document of abject minimalism that these three have composed; and like its predecessor Vikinga Brennivin, this album is spiked with drunken thought. Any alcohol induced euphoria has been tempered by perturbing blackouts, moments of cruelty, and an all-consuming nihilism. Beyond their shared Scandinavian heritage, their expressionist urge for the frigid drone, and their penchant for drink, BJ Nilsen and Stilluppsteypa intend this recording as an open ended experience, wandering through their sound without the burden of any exegetical text that may get in the way... Drykkjuvisur Ohljodanna resolves itself as a grim kaleidoscope, where the bleakness of the wintry Scandinavian landscape and the langour of a drunken escapade constantly mutate through the highly refined sensibility of dronescaping. Sonar pings announce the beginning of this album, with its echoes returning as an amorphous fog and locating little but a gloomy pall upon the event horizon. Clattering electronics scurry across the barren sounds like death-watch beetles upon the tundra; and creaking doors offer something much more foreboding than what Pierre Henry envisioned for musique concrete. Drykkjuvisur Ohljodanna adheres to the psychological dis-quiet through sound design that Alan Splet provided for Eraserhead or that Nurse With Wound achieved on Salt Marie Celeste. Yet for all of their tendencies for brooding and desolation, BJ Nilsen & Stilluppsteypa retain a compulsion for a glacial beauty through their intoxicated visions of the sublime. [label info]

Nilsen, B.J. & Stilluppsteypa -- "Passing Out" -- CD -- €12
2008 Helen Scarsdale Agency, HMS 013, (ltd. 1000)
The Nordic sound artists BJ Nilsen & Stilluppsteypa have authored the last component to a trilogy of isolationist compositions for barren field recordings and lumbering electric drones, thematically linked in the psychotropic effects of alcohol. In doing so, they have issued a brief statement in defense of their research: "It's been four years and three studies, Passing Out being the final. Even in its most general, colloquial usage, Passing Out indicates the occurrence of a state that is incompatible with active behavior. It is possible that the individual could experience both consciousness and unconsciousness at the same time while encountering Passing Out."... Yes, Passing Out is a crepuscular recording, with the flickering of twilight further dimmed by the distant Arctic sun in wintertime and the blackened numbness of too much drink. With one singular track that spans 60 minutes, a nearly constant thrum and rumble of monochromatic low frequencies casts a grim pall upon the precisely dialed-in modulations and vibrations. Spectral guitars, maudlin tunes from haunted radios, angrily growling voices, and field recordings of wind-whipped snow and ice bury themselves deep amidst these subharmonic drones. All of these tease at the edge of perception, sculpting the narrative of the drone into a vehicle for unhinged expressionism of varying degrees of horror, melancholy, beauty, and oblivion. Nostalgia -- "Beyond Horizon" -- CD-R -- €12
2007 Practising Nature, PN07018
A project of Mathias Grassow and Rudigier Gleisberg. Nostalgias 3rd album again shows the band in another light. Omit -- "Tracer" -- 2 CD -- €16
2005 Helen Scarsdale Agency, HMS 005, (ltd. 750)
As with all of his previous work, Tracer is an antiquated behemoth, constructed from analogue synthesizers, primitive drum machines, homespun electronics, and numerous effects pedals. Simple wooden rhythms trot, trudge, and even glide along taut metric grids hotwired with bursts of mechanical splutter and the occasional creak from Pierre Henry's wooden door. An occasionally menacing, but more often melancholic orchestration of synthetic tones ripple, flex, and dissolve across the uniform structuralism, creating an ecstatic paranoia rarely heard with such splendor, rigor, and sublime blackness. If sonic references are required, then the Klaus Schulze masterpiece Cyborg remains the closest analogy to what may be found in Tracer. [label info]

Ovro -- "Revisited" -- CD -- €10
2008 Some Place Else, SPECD08047, (ltd. 1000)
The wondergirl of Finnish dark ambient soundscapes is back with a new album. Revisited is based on field recordings made during Ovro’s tour in Russia in 2006, subsequently processed and treated in the studio. Revisited is a powerful aural travelogue. It will lull the listener to a state of receptive trance, and then starts working on the subconscious mind. Let yourself go, lose yourself in the sound, expect lucid dreams, out-of-body experiences, alien apparitions and a shower of sound massaging your body throughout. CD is packed in beautiful 4-panel digisleeve. Edition of 1000 copies. Revisited is loosely related to Estraier, a 2006 EP of which only a handful of copies were given out. Compared to Estraier, Revisited is extended, mutated and more elaborate throughout. While the beginning is similar, the paths taken turn out somewhat different and thus the outcome is all new. 2008 self-released
Portugese project Sektor 304 consists of Joao Filipe - guitars, pedals, and Andre Coelho - samples, junk, voice, hornet (?). With these instruments they work in the field of ritualistic industrial dark ambient: guitar drones, metallic rhythms, noises... The sound is dense, the atmosphere is intense, the music is captivating, in general, a good disc. Partly resembling the products of Finnish label Aural Hypnox.

Shoemaker, Matt -- "Spots in the Sun" -- CD -- €12
2007 Helen Scarsdale Agency, HMS 010, (ltd. 400)
Spots in the Sun is a grotesque, sonic landscape with details exaggerated out of proportion and narratives folded upon themselves in a magnificent abstraction of electro-acoustics, rarified field recordings, and particulate matter plucked from ether. Shoemaker works in monochrome, shaping his gray tonalities into rhizomes of shadow which occasionally erupt in brilliance of hyper-realized clarity. While the familiar sounds of encircling birds, turbulent weather, and temple bells litter Shoemaker's recordings, the sonic topography describes a vulgar and hostile landscape where fits of delirium and circadian arrhythmia are common human responses. Shoemaker achieves these complex metaphors through labyrinthine drones spiralling through irradiated fog and glassine vibrations, punctured by the scars of a landscape in perpetual revolt. In many ways, Shoemaker's Spots in the Sun could be mistaken for Bernard Parmegiani at his most focused or even John Duncan at his most gracefully brutal... [label info]

Skorpio, Niko -- "Half Born in Half Light" -- CD -- €10
2008 Some Place Else, SPECD08049, (ltd. 1000)
Half Born in Half Light is based on the foundations of psychedelic ambient soundscapes and darkly majestic bass drone, over which tribal rhythms and magickal vocal invocations build grotesque alien monoliths whose angles mock the euclidean mathematics of conventional composition. Niko Skorpio is not restricted to one particular genre, but draws on many sources. This makes the music colourful and diverse, yet it remains coherent and has the artist’s unique fingerprints all over (this time literally in the cover as well). If we are to give it a label, let’s call it HERMETIC FUSION MUSICK. CD comes with gorgeously designed 12-panel leaflet with art, photos, liner notes etc. Edition of 1000 copies. [press-release]

Spoonbender 1.1.1 -- "Stereo Telepathy Academy" -- CD -- €12
2006 Helen Scarsdale Agency, HMS 006, (ltd. 333)
At the beginning of the first 'transmission' of Stereo Telepathy Academy on November 3rd, 2004 - a performance where the group supported Genesis P-Orridge's PTV3 - 1.1.1's Dustin Donaldson announced that "tonight's Spoonbender 1.1.1 show is governed by chance operations and the 'third mind' technique. Spoken text was taken from one film, overlayed onto images from another film, and the score was composed while viewing a third (and secret) film source. The synchronistic results appear to be intentional." Such was the strategy of Duchamp's pieces nearly a century ago; but Spoonbender 1.1.1's collision of artforms also employs the technique found in the William S. Burroughs / Brion Gyson classic The Third Mind. As the images of David Cronenberg's rarely seen film Crimes Of The Future flickered, Spoonbender 1.1.1 radiated an inverted telekinetic minimalism of undulating tones supporting the third piece of the puzzle: spoken text from Cronenberg's Stereo, a faux-documentary detailing a surgical procedure for the advancement of telepathic communication. The result: a sort of 'Wizard Of Oz / Dark Side Of The Moon' for the mimetic engineering mindset... The same principles and elements apply for Stereo Telepathy Academy, the group's long-awaited debut studio recording. [label info]

Mika F. Rintala is a multi-talented musician. He assembles "synthesizers" from vacuum cleaners and electric saws, arranges field recordings which he catches like butterflies, and creates wonderful psychedelic audioscapes. One of the best tracks from this album - "Veron Saa Masaa Ensimmaisena Arkipaivana" - combines field recordings, space keyboards, weird tribal singing and somewhat eccentric sci-fi. Then come the acoustic guitars, fucked-up blues, recitations in Finnish, almost shoegaze... This work is ritual, hypnotic, trip-like... [YAOP description]

Waldron, M.S. / Steven Stapleton / Sigtryggur Berg Sigmarsson / Jim Haynes / R. K. Faulhaber -- "The Sleeping Moustache" -- CD -- €12
2006 Helen Scarsdale Agency, HMS 007, (ltd. 1700)
M.S. Waldron may be best known for his work as irr. app. (ext.), an unwieldy moniker that begets uncanny, hallucinatory sound. Steven Stapleton is the genius behind Nurse With Wound, the consistently unpredictable project that scrambles musical obsessions for krautrock, surrealism, and avant-garde composition into a brash quest for expressionism through experimentation. Sigtryggur Berg Sigmarsson hails from the Icelandic electro-absurdist duo Stilluppsteypa, which continues to investigate the finer points of drunken minimalism. Jim Haynes prefers to merely state that he rusts things. R.K. Faulhaber is something of a mysterious figure, looming around Mr. Waldron's irr. app. (ext.) recordings and performances while keeping his own work a hermetic secret... Each with a peculiar understanding of the audio arts, these five artists came to the proverbial table and thought it a good idea to collaborate. Given the predilection for the surreal and the sidereal that each of these five employ in their many audio and visual projects, those agendas oozed from the recordings that became known as The Sleeping Moustache... An epiphany of controlled disorder, a convulsion of beauty, a cascade of thought from delirious minds, The Sleeping Moustache is an exquisite manifestation of sound poetry scattered into a tortuous collage mired in an oblique melancholy. Magnetic tones extracted from the ether, mechanical sounds smeared into a lugubrious growls, horns trumpeting straight out of John's Book of Revelation, ululations sliced into information overload that Schwitters himself would be proud of. The Sleeping Moustache presents a psychically instable landscape, where dreams and nightmares wreak havoc upon the drudgery of daily life. The closest audible territory for The Sleeping Moustache might be the psychoactive constructions of Nurse With Wound's Homotopy To Marie, although the characters in this drama happened upon an entirely different map of that terrain. Deutsch, Andrew -- "The Sun" -- CD -- €12
2005 and/OAR, and/21
and/OAR is extremely happy to present this powerfully mesmerizing work; carefully remastered and reissued for the first time on CD format. Under the original title of "Der Sonne", this work was originally issued as a limited quantity CDR release on Andrew Deutsch's Magic If label several years ago. "The Sun was constructed by passing ocean waves (recorded at Rye Beach, New Hampshire), through various digital processing devices. The most articulate of these processors was a tone generator able to isolate and respond to specific frequencies present in the ocean waves. The concept behind The Sun was to make a static music or a kind of music that just shimmered in place. This concept can be traced back to the works of Anthony Braxton in his Tri Axiom Writings, and to Stockhausen in his early serial pieces. As Stockhausen says, "there is a difference between starting and stopping and beginning and ending". The pieces presented here do not begin and end but simply start and stop. The Sun is also a work, in a series of works, I have created to aid in the process of drawing. I call these works 'image drones/sounds for drawing'. The sounds were all inspired by the 'power field theories' of Joseph Beuys and are dedicated to him and his family." [label / author's info]

Kirkegaard, Jacob -- "4 Rooms" -- CD -- €12
2006 Touch, Tone 26
In this work Danish sound artist Jacob Kirkegaard explores the sonic legacy of the catastrophe on Chernobyl nuclear plant after 20 years of it's happening. The work is based on exploration of time existing imside of Zone of Alienation, by recording of silence in four radiating spaces. For this purpose Jacob deliberately picked rooms that once were active meeting points for people: a church in village Krasno, an auditorium, a gymnasium and a swimming pool in town Pripyat. The sound of each room was evoked by sonic time layering: in each room, he recorded 10 minutes of it and then played the recording back into the room, while at the same time recording it again. This process was repeated up to ten times. As the layers got denser, each room slowly began to unfold a drone with various overtones.

Koude -- "Towards the False Light" -- CD-R -- €9
2007 Operator Produkzion, OPERPRODUKT19, (ltd. 33)

An immersion into the sonic matter from micro- and macro- environments dominated by wind in Patagonia. A vast barren space shaped and inhabited by the ever-changing forces of unmuted plants, rocks, sand, snow, and ice. An irregular broad-band environment of relentless strength and richness. Moljebka Pvlse -- "Sadalsuud" -- CD -- €10
2007 Some Place Else, SPECD07040
Mathias Josefson is a sound-artist from Stockholm, Sweden, and currently attending the royal university college of fine arts. His main project is Moljebka Pvlse, which is an experimental music group that works with both electronic and acoustic instruments, as well as with field recordings and found sounds. What comes out is hypnotic and meditative soundscapes. Over the years Moljebka Pvlse has performed live in Canada, Finland, France, The Netherlands, Slovenia, Sweden and the U.S. Mathias has, mainly as Moljebka Pvlse, released several albums on many different labels, such as Cold Meat Industry, Eibon Records and his own Isoramara label. Some Place Else is proud to release the new album by Moljebka Pvlse, entitled Sadalsuud. For this album, Mathias collaborated with a number of his colleagues who provided him various source sounds to work with. The name Sadalsuud refers to a star of the same name in the constellation of Aquarius. The name comes from an Arabic phrase meaning "the luckiest of them all". Nevertheless the album is rather earthy-sounding, yet mystical and surreal, almost claustrophobic at times. The sound is vaguely reminiscent of some works by Nurse With Wound, Maeror Tri or The Hafler Trio, but carries the trademark Moljebka Pvlse feel. An unsuspecting pre-listener described Sadalsuud as "a visit to a supposedly haunted house, though only once you've entered the house you begin to grasp the real meaning of haunting." [press-release]

Mushroom's Patience -- "Roma, Wien" -- CD -- €14
Oktagon Records / Misty Circles, OKT-012 / MCR37
Psychedelic post-chanson, a project of Italian artist Raffaelle Cerroni aided by the members of Ain Soph, Spiritual Front, Novy Svet, etc. Amazing mix of abnormalities of all kinds: romantic medolies turn to howls in stomatological chair, serious music steps back under the pressure of atonal crookedness, sensible vocal is replaced with frank mockery, everything is impregnated with the spirit of derangement. Great music.

>o< -- "Abyssal Jar" -- CD-R -- €8
2006 Operator Produkzion, OPERPRODUKT03, (ltd. 90)
Archaic minimalim of sound - accordion and some mouth harp - but at the same time the whole palette of associations and emotions: shamanic rituals, cold drive referring to old school industrial, disturbing atmosphere of the Great Storm premonition, typical for military/martial, dark-ambient contemplation, severity of early Prokofiev and Shostakovitch. This recording seized to bones, to the depths of unconsciousness, to those parts of the archetype which still remained in the last people. Deliberate minimalism of artwork seems to offer the listener to find his own visuals to the album in his subconsciousness, in his genetic memory... Blue cardboard cover. [press-release]

Uranium USSR 1972 -- "Avarie" -- CD -- €12
2006 SmallVoices, SVR06022
Setting a new chapter in the history of ambient-electronic music, Kirlian Camera’s Angelo Bergamini returns with "Avarie" - intellectual and proudly anti-intellectual at once, it evokes strange and sometimes nervous alien urban worlds. Intimately powerful and innovative, this long awaited UU72 'opera prima' is a successful combination of new electronic horizons and retro vintage machines reaching a personal language, not paying any debt to any 'experimentalists' in particular. Once again, Bergamini surprises with a brand new idea, giving life to a restless and rainy scenery made of extreme solitude, alienated rhythms and touching moments, all permeated by an unusual sense of black humour. These are real 'songs-of-the-machines', devoid of any old-school attitude. Further enhanced by beautiful and stylishly sumptuous artwork by Elena Alice Fossi ( co-leader / singer / composer of Kirlian Camera ) mixing Euro-Spanish modern design with hi-class 'industrial glamour' - "Avarie" is an album that modifies old atmospheric music concepts, rich in intuitions and generously free of pc/mac prepacked solutions.
