"Molva" @ bandcamp

Neznamo: website | bandcamp

Six years have passed since the release of the previous full-length work of Neznamo "Aiwyâstô", during which Dmitry Shilov was busy with session studio and concert work with other bands & projects (Majdanek Waltz, Noises Of Russia, etc.) and released only a couple of very limited edition cassettes ("Rite Unknown" and "Aery" – split with Notum). And now we finally have a new album!

The material for it was collected during 2012-2019 from fragments of studio sessions and live recordings, and unlike "Aiwyâstô", which consisted of viscous thick drone music, "Molva" makes one remember the archaic and ritual roots of early Neznamo works. Conceptual like before, the album consists of three sonic canvases, woven from lingering drones, rustles, resonances and cryptic spells, interlaced into a single sonic ritual.

The CD was co-released with Moonsun Productions in an edition of 200 copies in a 6-panel matte cardboard digisleeve, the digital version is available on bandcamp.

ALLEGORY CHAPEL LTD. -- "Modus Operandi" -- CD -- €10
2021 Oxidation, CDROT073, (ltd. 200)
Industrial / Experimental. "Modus Operandi – a particular way or method of doing something, especially one that is characteristic or well-established." What does Modus Operandi mean though when it comes to Elden M. and Allegory Chapel Ltd.? ACL has been so varied over the years and has shown he is a master of all sorts of genres. Modus Operandi the new album by Allegory Chapel Ltd. perfectly encapsulates many of those past genre-defining moments in one CD. Modus Operandi also features the track Distributed Organs, Flesh Feedback [Instrumental] featuring MARFISIA BEL, and the track ICBM which is a collaboration with MONTE CAZAZZA. Oxidation is proud to release this album by one of my all-time favorite artists. [label info]

ANEMONE TUBE, JARL & MONOCUBE -- "The Hunters In The Snow" -- CD -- €12
2019 The Epicurean, cure.21 / Auf Abwegen, AATP65, (ltd. 333)
Dark Ambient / Experimental. Inspired by the Pieter Bruegel’s seasons paintings, the three industrial music projects Anemone Tube, Jarl and Monocube developed a cosmos of sound over the course of more than five years. The result “The Hunters in the Snow – A Contemplation on Pieter Bruegel’s Series of the Seasons” is an all-encompassing work of art from every perspective – exploring the seasons paintings through poetry, literature and sound. Originating from a visual piece of art, the musical interpretations meet every aspect of the sceneries, merging their unique approaches and individual styles into one vivid, ever-changing sonic landscape of the recurring cycle of decay and renewal. Sharply mastered by James Plotkin for eternity... The CD comes in a luxurious 8-panel digifile with embossed cover on high quality natural paper, accompanied by a booklet which includes an essay on Pieter Bruegel’s landscapes by Sven Schlijper-Karssenberg & Kim Dohlich, and a poem by Jean Gebser that corroborates the conceptual framework. Conception, music production and art direction by Anemone Tube. [label info]

ASHLEY C -- "Drift" -- CD -- €10
2012 Freak Animal Records
Experimental. Second CD of Ashley C on Freak Animal takes project to new dimensions of rotten minimalism. Ashley C manages to escape all the easy solutions of noise entertainment and instead offers two painfully challenging pieces of ultimate tape decay. Warm analogue hiss, broken mutated sounds of recycled and re-re-redubbed sounds, swallowed in magnetic abyss. No aggression or loudness, no ambient or industrial. Atmosphere is highly obcure and keep one waiting for climax what will never come. Approach is opposed to academic tape studies. Aesthetics and presentation is very close to all past Ashley C hand made ruggedness and xerox cult. Packaged in 3 fold cardboard sleeve. [label info]

Recorded in Toyko earlier this year, "Far In The Distance" features walls of blistering harsh noise and blissful glitchy electronics, spread across two colossal tracks (21 and 25 mins apiece), with the second track involving heavier, power electronics elements. BEHRENS, MARC -- "Mutt Att Narc Imm" -- CD -- €10
2018 Auf Abwegen, aatp46, (ltd. 300)
Experimental / Musique Concrete. The three pieces on this album are steps in an evolution of live concert pieces. Each of the title abbreviations indicates a specific sound set. The titles (Imm, Att Imm Mut and Mut Att Narc Imm) become genetic sequences forming the possibilities of the sound set combinations. Mut imm att imm narc mut att imm mut narc narc mut att imm narc mut imm att narc att mut imm narc att imm. The concrete sounds featured in the various sets are recordings made with a circular water reservoir (Kleiner Wasserspeicher, Berlin), various electric kettles, a wet towel, metal percussion, and metal jetties at Marseille harbour. Starting with the Imm set in 2006, the evolution halts with the full Mut Att Narc and Imm sets in 2016. Performances of the different evolutionary stages took place in Europe, South America, South Africa, Asia and Australia. With the release of the Mut Att Narc Imm album in 2018, this cycle of work becomes recorded music. [label info]

ENCEPHALOPHONIC -- "Regressed Progress" -- CD -- €10
2013 Audio Dissection, AD09, (ltd. 300)
Noise. Encephalophonic has been lurking in shadows of international noise for some years and now presents its debut CD album. Step by step improving and challenging himself to rise to new heights, album culminates years of work. Taking influence from masters of dynamic Japanese pedal noise and harshest American units, but creating timeless and trend free harsh noise. It's at the same time super distorted and noisy as it is high fidelity and crispy. Echoes of 90's Merzbow, Pain Jerk, Kazumoto Endo, Sickness, Skin Crime, etc. but with additional dark and sinister quality. [Mikko Aspa]

EXPOSE YOUR EYES & HOWARD STELZER -- "One Should Never Cease Considering Human Love, Which Remains as Grisly and Golden as Ever" -- CD -- €10
2021 Oxidation, CDROT071
Experimental / Musique Concrete. Paul Harrison has been on a prolific creation streak recently and has been working under various monikers, the most famous is probably EXPOSE YOUR EYES. Looking through his discography you can see Paul is no stranger to collaborations. For this release a formidable collaborator was chosen, Howard Stelzer, who is also no slouch when it comes to this style of recording. Howard has been absolutely stepping up his game with releases that also feature source material from others. "One Should Never Cease Considering Human Love, Which Remains as Grisly and Golden as Ever" is a powerful tour de force that features iconic recognizable sounds from each artist and melds perfectly into an excellent 30+ minute single piece. JAZKAMER -- "Matthew 28:17" -- CD -- €10
2010 Pica Disk, PICA022
Noise / Experimental. On "Matthew 28:17" Jazkamer for the first time in the 2010 monthly series operates as its core duo of Lasse Marhaug and John Hegre. This reduction does little to lighten the density of their sound, rather the opposite, because "Matthew 28:17" is a thick haze of dopey fuzz-guitars and droning organ. For the longtime Jazkamer fan this album bears similarities to the 2002 mini-album "The Sound of Music" - which often has been thought of as a highlight in the Jazkamer oeuvre. The themes of "Matthew 28:17" are a mix of the subjects astronomi (both Hegre and Marhaug are keen space-enthusiasts) and religion (but neither are particularly avid churchgoers). This duality and conflict of science and spirituality is expressed as dionysian ecstasy through primitive psychedelic noise music. Jazkamer offers no answers on these difficult matters, but hope that their listeners will join them on their dance around the campfire. The cover artwork of "Matthew 28:17" is by Japanese visual artist Yasutoshi Yoshida, also known as recording artist Government Alpha. All profits from the sales of "Matthew 28:17" will be donated to NASA. [label info]

MAUTHAUSEN ORCHESTRA -- "Raising Vapours" -- CD -- €23
1997 Body And Blood Exploration, BBECD02 / BloodLust!, B!033, (ltd. 500)
Industrial / Noise. 1982, Italy. Pierpaolo Zoppo starts releasing his own tapes of his project Mauthausen Orchestra under the label "Aquilifer Sodality". Combing through topics such as sexual violence, perversion, torture and murder and picking them apart with the right maneuver as to not come off as cheap and careless is not an easy task. Where the people of one decade find their horrific scenery another decade finds its jokes. Mauthausen Orchestra's atmosphere, one of true debauchery and calculated sickness, coalescing with the sobering awe of his industrial racket blanketed by the 80's true lo-fidelity, raw recording procedures has yet to truly be matched. His early sound traversed a good deal of ground from the sharp and violent piles of feedback and synth work forcefully fed to you, to long chapters of grinding precision and tape manipulation pulling pieces out of itself and building upon it... The project took a rest in 1986 and besides re-releases of the 1982-1986 collection, M.O. didn't wake back up until 1997 with the creation of "Raising Vapors" co-released by Body and Blood and Bloodlust! records. The sound of "Raising Vapors" took a lot from the old Italian sound they helped create and added variation to it. The violence was not as heavy and brutal as it was before, instead it was more minimalistic, the discipline was more exacting. [Pure Stench]

ORPHX -- "01 / 02" -- 2 CD -- €16
1993/2017 Hospital Productions, HOS-478, (ltd. 300)
Industrial / Noise / Experimental. This is the archival collection from what could be considered the genesis of Orphx's unique sound. Inspired by early industrial music and new waves of noise from Japan and Europe, this compilation gathers together some of the best material from their first two cassette releases along with previously unreleased tracks recovered from the original 4 track tapes. [Mannequin Records] There are less than a handful of bands that can honestly say they were equally involved in the early 90’s noise scene, the mid 2000’s dark ambient scene, and what simultaneously emerged as the power noise movement in Europe. Orphx is one of these pioneers and have gracefully interwoven their tortured electronic architecture among the various subcultures of fringe electronics, while seamlessly continuing on to remain a vital part of the contemporary wave of industrial techno hysteria. PEINEMANN, MARTIN THOMAS / ASMUS TIETCHENS -- "Harvestehude" -- 2 CD -- €10
2015 Auf Abwegen, aatp53, (ltd. 500)
Musique Concrete / Experimental. After more than 10 years of enthusiastic experiences and encounters with so-called „Difficult Music“ throughout the 1980ies Martin Peinemann and Asmus Tietchens deemed their somewhat differing approaches to making music compatible and agreed upon a loose collaboration in the year 1992. For various reasons (organizational and others) the work was not to take place at Audiplex studios but at Peinemann’s home studio. This modest lab featured all the necessary technical equipment needed to realize noise music meeting the standards of the day. This included an analogue 4-track-tape deck (9,5 cm/sec, Dolby noise reduction, integrated 6-channel mixer), soon after a digital 8 channel multitrack, a powerful periphery and sound producing devices of all kinds. For „Hochallee“, their first collaboration, Peinemann and Tietchens set themselves no definite deadline. The working sessions took place in an atmosphere of relaxation, usually on Saturday afternoons. By 1996 Peinemann and Tietchens finally had amassed a series of pieces they considered to be complete. At this time Peinemann began working on computer generated solo works and Tietchens moved on towards a more reductionist sound work... „Klosterallee“, their second collaboration, was realized under completely different circumstances. In the years gone by since their last work Peinemann had deeply immersed himself into the field of extreme digital sound manipulation that he often discussed with Tietchens. From this collection of sound structures Peinemann offered some to Tietchens as sourcings for further treatments. The following expanding of these structures was not done in the form of sessions but executed by Tietchens alone over a period of three months. Peinemann then authorised the final results... Unlike Asmus Tietchens Peinemann never released any music until now. He always valued the working process higher than the working result. The reason for this collaboration to finally come out as a double CD follows a noble motif that can be roughly translated as such: „A warning to the Old, an instruction to the Young.“ (Friedrich Gottlieb Klopstock, „Pädagogische Ergetzungen“, 1802). PERLETTA, FABIO + ASMUS TIETCHENS -- "Deflections" -- CD -- €10
2017 Auf Abwegen, aatp59, (ltd. 500)
Minimal / Drone / Experimental. Fabio Perletta and Asmus Tietchens’ hermetic micro-cosmos of Deflections unfolds by exploring instability and physical decay of sound. Built upon liminal forms and atonal passages, the six near-silent pieces of the work traverse empty space by means of elementary sonic emissions and drifting nano-structures. Among sound collisions and evanescent masses, the almost immaterial yet corporeal nature of Deflections, embodies sound in its most subliminal and contradictory form. [label info]

PHROQ -- "Attempts to Reach USA" -- CD-R -- €15
2006 Harshnoise, HN-027
Noise. Behind the name Phroq is Francisco Meirino from Switzerland / Spain. His first releases, on cassette, date back to 1995, and since then he has created a large list of releases, mainly on cassette, CDR and some on real CDs, such as on Ground Fault... Phroq is also a world traveller, playing concerts everywhere. And just like many he made an attempt to reach the USA, and unlike others, he succeeded to reach the country. On the disc with the same name we find several pieces recorded at his 'west coast collapse tour' of september 2005 in California. Back home he edited the concerts into this release. The cover lists: macintosh, contact mics and beer cans. There are four longer cuts and six shorter interludes, which are all relatively soft. In the longer pieces (two of which are over twenty minutes) the music is hellish noise wise. Here he attempts to reach the Merzbow kind of noise, even when here too he knows how take back control and let things go smooth, if that is a term that might be close to what he does. Its all relative matter I guess. [FdW, Vital Weekly]

THE RITA + WILT -- "Werewolf In The Black Space" -- CD -- €10

SAL SOLARIS -- "Cherez Polus?? (Through the Pole??)" -- CD -- €10
2021 kultFRONT, KF-XXXVIII
Techno / Industrial / Dark Ambient. New disc from the band most important to kultFRONT. The hronicle of a noisedive of the inner thermometer mercury column to the place, where it becomes all the same. Where actually everything gets smoother. Like ice on which you can dance madly, or accelerate and slide your whole body over its rough mirror. Horizontal movement at a constant speed, to look into the depth where white becomes black. To get up and walk stubbornly. To lose and not to find. To give and not receive. To live and freeze. Dancing. The album contains compositions from three digital EPs from Ivan Napreenko and Konstantin Mezer, releases in 2015-2018 on NEN Records bandcamp page. In addition, the disc includes tracks from the cassette split of Sal Solaris and Zero View. Like frost, fixating and killing everything that consists of water, "Through the Pole??" freezes into a crystal something that never appeared as a single piece of matter. A retrospective of several years of living, shown in an order devoid of linear logic. Like a dream, devoid of beginning and end. A dream to wake up from? The edition is released as a CD with timing on the verge of flushing, hidden in a six-panel digipak, decorated with chains of neural connections. [label info]

SCHUTZE, PAUL -- "Without Thought" -- CD -- €10
2020 Auf Abwegen, aatp77, (ltd. 300)
Ambient / Experimental. Without Thought was conceived as an installation work for video projection / stereo sound / stereo fragrance. The first component was the film, shot in Greece in 2016. The vantage point is a clifftop I have visited many times. A strange sense that the water curves up into the hemisphere of the sky here is always startling. The surface of the sea perpetually coruscates with patterns describing wind movement. The entire landscape feels sentient. The sound was constructed in direct response to the image. The stereo image is unusual in that it has no centre. Every element is perpetually moving in the image field. For this reason, it works best heard through speakers. The sound is both harmonically, structurally and texturally unresolving and fluid. My aim was to amplify the emphatic formlessness of the waters. The olfactory elements were created last. They began as a complete fragrance encompassing both the marine and terrestrial aspects of the place. The image you see, while excluding the land necessitates the viewer be land-bound so the two zones are inextricably connected in this film. The complete fragrance was then split into earth and sea elements. The two groupings are diffused from positions in the space mirroring those of the sound diffusion. The two scents blend to varying degrees in the space depending upon the position and movement of the viewer/auditor/olfactory. This work continues a theme of anti-narrative which has been present in my sound-works for nearly four decades. We make stories to emboss meaning onto the surfaces of life. Those surfaces shrug of our scribbling like leviathans in troubled slumber. [from the author]

SONMA -- "Ether" -- CD -- €10
2021 Ksenza Records, KSZ 038, (ltd. 150)
Drone Doom from Velikiy Novgorod, Russia. "Ether" is a bunch of barely related sketches showing unachievable goals that are frozen in a static condition of endless trepidation. The indifference of the cold universe to all living creatures exposes trivial and tragic fates condemned to their own ambitions. The time is filled with paths that lead to no goals. The space is filled with unseen ether of worries and indifference... The band was started back in 2020 by members of CRUST. The main concept is to play slow and heavy music blending together such styles as funeral doom, drone doom, using Sunn amplifiers and ambient. The lyrics are abstract united by the idea of the album. It's a homemade project and everything from recording to mastering we do with our own hands. [from the artists]

SUTCLIFFE JUGEND -- "Blue Rabbit" -- CD -- €10
2012 Crucial Blast, CBR95
Dark Ambient / Experimental / Spoken Word. Appearing in the early 80's as an offshoot of the legendary UK power electronics band Whitehouse, Sutcliffe Jugend soon went to to become an equally confrontational and extreme purveyor of the early PE/industrial sound, producing some of the most abrasive and violent electronics albums ever with their early Come Organisation releases "We Spit On Their Grave" and "Campaign". Since then, Sutcliffe Jugend has continued to pursue a unique sonic vision that combines transgressive subject matter and dark, cerebral musings on violence and sexual perversion with explorations into the use of brutal feedback and synthesizer damage. In the past decade, however, the band has delved into darker, more restrained (at least on a sonic level) sounds alongside their harsher work, and "Blue Rabbit" is the latest such offering, unfolding like a night-terror across the album's eight tracks. You won't find any of SJ's trademark power electronics sound here, nor the dark throbbing industrial of their recent album "With Extreme Prejudice" for Cold Spring Records; this is a darker, more unsettling experience, heavy with an atmosphere of doom and smoldering violence, as if Sutcliffe Jugend sought to channel the creaking dread of Nurse With Wound's "Salt Marie Celeste" through a series if blood-freezing psychosexual nightmares. TIETCHENS, ASMUS -- "Humoresken und Vektoren" -- CD -- €10
2014 Auf Abwegen, aatp45, (ltd. 500)
Experimental / Minimal. "Humoresken und Vektoren" takes up a work that was started upon the invitation of Francisco Lopez for the spanish Störung label. The task was to deliver thirteen 2-minute original compositions for a compilation release. "Humoresken und Vektoren" recycles these miniatures from 2010 and undfolds it into eight new works having no resemblance with the original sourcings whatsoever. These eight tracks are bound together by eight short pieces entitled “Tristia” that function as bridges between the longer pieces. "Humoresken und Vektoren" is a combination of very dynamic and detailed sounds and a range of delicate layers and abstract textures. The CD features very surprising artwork unlike most recent Tietchens releases. [label info]

2019 Auf Abwegen, aatp64, (ltd. 500)

Out of mutual respect and admiration for each other’s work Asmus Tietchens and Frans de Waard decided to work on some music together. The result is “Oordeel“ (dutch for „judgement“) – eleven tracks of diverse character and subtle beauty. From distorted groans and gritty pulses to delicate and abstract sound layers Tietchens and de Waard have created a fascinating sound world of bizarre beauty. [label info]

ULTAR -- "Pantheon MMXIX" -- CD -- €10
2019 Ksenza Records, KSZ 029
Atmospheric Black Metal. Recorded in the heart of Siberia, Krasnoyarsk, amidst the howling woods and red mountains, 'Pantheon MMXIX' features seven sharp cuts that are at once alarming and adventurous, uniting savagery and shoegaze into an immaculately woven web of epically atmospheric post black metal... Two years in the making, 'Pantheon MMXIX' represents a giant leap forward for Ultar. Emotionally powerful, mystical and intense, the album is darker and heavier than its predecessor; the sound of the new LP is described by the band as "a sonic wave disintegrating into dark". Full of otherworldly melodies, Lovecraftian themes and powerful, bone-breaking vocals, the music on 'Pantheon MMXIX' is diverse and embodied with many references and influences... [label info]

VON HAUSSWOLFF, CARL MICHAEL -- "Squared" -- CD -- €10
2015 Auf Abwegen, aatp52, (ltd. 300)
Minimal / Drone / Experimental. Squared consists of two longer pieces. The first is a recording of a live performance executed at ZKM in Karlsruhe. It is an abstract piece of music that has evolved during the time the composer has performed live – since 1980. For the composer, generally, a live performance is always the „same thing“, but listening to the early recordings it occurs that the music has changed drastically – only the format is still there. This is analogue to life in general – Earth looks the same like always, but, of course, it isn’t. This piece won the Karl Sczuka Price Price in 2014. The piece is a co-production with ZKM | Zentrum für Kunst und Medientechnologie Karlsruhe and Südwestrundfunk (SWR)... The second is a piece using the sound generated from the soil in the German cemetery in Montevideo, Uruguay. With a technique called emission spectroscopy the composer has experimented with the frequencies that emits from the actual material in the ground and by pulling out samples from these recordings, organising them and looping some this piece became the soundtrack for the film „North Cemetery, Montevideo, Uruguay“ directed by Jan Håfström, CM von Hausswolff and Juan-Pedro Fabra Guemberena. MS30 -- "T.I.A." -- 2 x 12" -- €10
2012 Silken Tofu, stx.21, (ltd. 300)
Experimental. MS30 is born from the encounter between the Korg MS20 of TZII and the Korg MS10 of Aymeric De Tapol, resulting in massive frequencies, sharp cuts and hypnotizing pulsations. Both artists share a fascination for West-Africa, which brought them to work around on this thematic, with their own vision and cultural codes... AYMERIC DE TAPOL is an experimental and electro-acoustic composer, based in Brussels. He works for contemporary dance pieces, radiophonic creations and as a freelance sound engineer for cinema and documentary films. Since 1998, he focuses his work on climatic sound takes. The final result is a composition where minimalist soundscapes interact with each other and lead to organic maps, close to microsound or noise. His works could be described as 'travelling music': the music score for a non-existing movie... Since 1996 TZII has been spreading his magickal corrosive frequencies all over the world by touring from Europe to Australia, passing by the USA, Canada, Japan and Africa, where he played hundreds of shows, spreading cinematic ambient and raw electronic anger. He's a co-founder and active member of the V-ATAK collective & dvd label, one half of SOLAR SKELETONS and a member of DUFLAN DUFLAN and several other bands. He also works for dance companies, living performances, movie soundtracks and any other mediums with sound inside. [press-release]

R.Y.N. -- "Archaic Techniques Of Ecstacy" -- LP -- €10
2010 Equation Records, E=mc20, (ltd. 233)
Dark Ambient. R.Y.N. are a UK-based duo probably best known for their Astral Death CD (Unrest Productions) and an excellent 7" on Drone Records. On this vinyl-only release R.Y.N. present 44 minutes of completely new recordings: a mix of archaic, unsettling, new and melancholy. This album took many months to record due to the care and attention to detail exacted by the duo. This LP provides both classic R.Y.N. darkness plus even heavier oppressive, dark, soundscapes that can only be fully appreciated on vinyl over the two side-long tracks: Archaic Techniques Of Ecstacy and Provisional Sketch Of The Mind. Pressed on black vinyl in a deluxe spot-varnish silk-screened card sleeve (by Seizure Palace) plus printed inner sleeve and inserts. If you don't know their work then this is definitely worth exploring. If you do know them then this is a must. [label info]

SECRET ABUSE -- "Violent Narcissus" -- LP -- €10
2008 Not Not Fun Records, NNF135, (ltd. 445)
Noise Rock / Drone / Experimental. Secret Abuser Jeff Witscher is an enigma wrapped in a riddle rolled in cassette tape and plugged into a battered pair of towering PA speakers. He’s lived everywhere, met everyone, and inspired legions through his lifestyle, utopian fashions (“refugee chic”), and spellbindingly intense music. Up from Rainbow Blanket, through to Impregnable, and across the arid plains of Roman Torment and Deep Jew, Witscher’s maintained a singularity of vision and total commitment to execution that has wrecked us in the live setting many a time. But, despite his nomad instincts, the past year plus has seen him settling slightly deeper into his Secret Abuse mode, and here’s hoping he lingers a while longer, cause it’s a fucking winner. Brutal, pensive, blown-out tones crossfade into tortured minor key guitar laments before being slowly subsumed in a droning ocean of choked vocals and sulking, selfish electronics. Repressed, burning, and emotional as only a young man pushing away everything can be, Violent Narcissus is as definitive a document as has thus far yet emerged from the SA canon. Look long and hard; the mirror is a bitter mistress. Black LPs, mastered by Bill Hutson, housed in jackets designed by Witscher. [label info]

BLOOD RHYTHMS -- "Gone." -- 2 CS -- €20
2021 Oxidation, CDROT083, (ltd. 31)
Experimental / Noise. BLOOD RHYTHMS is a project headed by Arvo Zylo that was officially inaugurated in December 2010, with a live performance featuring the entire (legendary avant-industrial / gospel) band, ONO. Prior to that, Zylo had been active in some form since 2000, with several precocious live group performances, including a "brass ensemble" meant to sneak drone and noise into otherwise more accessible outlets... As an ensemble, the group gradually grew to incorporate junk metal, synthesizers, guitars, and tape manipulation, and BLOOD RHYTHMS officially branched off as a collaborative moniker for Zylo in 2010 (after starting live group work mainly in 2007), having released a number of full-length tapes and pro-CDRs, as well as two LPs: 2015's "Assembly" was comprised of Zylo's manipulations of wind and horns recorded in a meat locker. 2019's "Civil War" is a studio/group recording of Zylo's live "weirdo power electronics" material from 2010 to 2016... This two-tape set features unreleased or scarce material from the last ten years. There is an edit of BLOOD RHYTHMS' first live recording with ONO. There's also a 24-minute track from an out-of-print split cassette with T.O.M.B. on LOCRIAN's Land Of Decay label, and unreleased / scarce collaborations with Wyatt Howland (SKIN GRAFT), plus a couple of contributions from EVP sound artist MICHAEL ESPOSITO, guitar from MARK SHIPPY, an alternate version of a side-long piece taken from a Banned Productions cassette split with LE SCRAMBLED DEBUTANTE, and more. COMPEST -- "Leitern und Pfade" -- CS BOX -- €10
2020 Oxidation, CDROT066, (ltd. 50)
Ambient / Experimental. Active for more than 25 years, German sound artist Martin Steinebach has used several monikers through the years. First known as CONSCIENTIA PECCATI (orchestral and ritual/tribal synthetic atmospheres), Steinebach later launched two other projects to explore new paths: MONOID for more rhythmic industrial sounds, and STILLSTAND for more ambient abstract soundscapes. Then he melted all his influences in COMPEST that can be seen as a kind of meta-project. COMPEST had nearly a dozen releases since it was launched in 2004, exploring many different styles... For this new cassette on the US label Oxidation, Steinebach does indeed not focus on just one style. Seven tracks are included on "Leitern und Pfade" ("Ladders and paths") and its title couldn't be better chosen. They follow different paths and could nonetheless be connected through ladders. From the opening "Leiter" and its sparse minimal electronic sounds to the more melodic closing "Abseits", we wander in analogic (modular?) synth soundscapes ("Aufstieg"), delicate and epic atmospheres (the wonderful "Sprossen" and "Pfad") and more frightening / menacing tracks ("Oben" for instance), yet there is a strong cohesion between these seven tracks. An excellent work! [Jean-Marc Taâlem] Cassette tied to a wooden tile with two small ladders, covered in dirt.

Viel Lärm Um Nichts is exactly what I needed to hear today. In a world of poo, Signalstoerung reached out to my noggin in the best possible way, causing me to find 20 minutes of beauty and peace in simplicity and drones. Personally, I rarely find minimalist work to be "active listening" material. Like the rest of their work, this defies that stigma and kept me completely engaged for its entirety, a welcome distraction from the madness occurring around me. Fantastic, but I would expect nothing but excellence from Signalstoerung. Highly recommended." [Dan Fox]

BLACK WANDERER -- "Hostile Territory" -- CD -- €10
2017 Ksenza Records, KSZ 018, (ltd. 350)
Dark Ambient / Drone / Isolationism. Black Wanderer (BW) is a new cinematic drone project from Algol. According to the author, BW explores much more inhospitable territories. It focuses on darker minimalistic tunes which suit perfectly sci-fi and horror films. Consider “Hostile Territory” as an alternative soundtrack with more menacing and suspended atmosphere. BW recorded using only bass and electric guitars which deliver more natural ambiance and presence to the sound. [label info]

BLOOD OV THEE CHRIST -- "Master Control" -- CD -- €10
1988/2005 Segerhuva, SEGER 11
Noise. Most people tend to want to forget, we don’t. That is why we have chosen to re-release this killer tape. Master Control was originally released as an ultra-obscure tape back in 1988, and listening to it now, it is clear that it has stood the test of time, and sounds just as raw, visceral and bloodthirsty as it did back then. We are not re-releasing this because someone involved got famous doing folk music years later, no we do it simply because we think it deserves to be more than a rumour at the outer fringes of lunatic Norrland. This is how we remember music from when we were kids – dark, obsessive and frightening as hell. Master Control contains the original c-60 plus a 10 minute bonustrack recorded in 1988. [press-release]

HAARE -- "Regression" -- CD -- €10
2016 Freak Animal Records, Freak Animal CD 084
Freak Animal is proud to present new HAARE CD. On this CD, Haare goes forward to less expected direction. Offering 6 songs, where material may still be loosely connected to "drone", but far more into direction of industrial noise. Grim and distorted soundscapes, piercing feedback, buried distorted vocals and slowly drifting industrial waste manages to provide fresh new angle to extensive Haare discography! Sound is lo-fi, crude and filled with disturbing distortions and crackles and elements one could perhaps label as technical imperfections. From this Regression emerges new type of Haare recording. IRR. APP. (EXT.) -- "Are All Things Equivalent?" -- 10" -- €15
2019 Drone Records / Substantia Innominata, SUB-26, (ltd. 300)
Drone / Experimental. Drone Records is proud to present two new tracks on vinyl by the master of surrealistic, enigmatic sound (and visual) worlds, whose collages and titles often reveal a cryptic and thought-provoking nature. As soon as the music starts you might get the impression that micro- and macroscopic dimensions intermingle and oscillate, these multi-layered drone expansions and deep humming drones evoke a strange organic feeling, ominous half-concrete acoustic shadows seem to live inside this, ghosty saw-blades conquer the sonic space, there are rolling mechanic eruptions, and you could be stuck in huge spinning machines, it's music that consists of complex noises and drones that seem to be in a circling state of an endless metamorphosis... irr.app.(ext.) has been the project of sound, performance and visual artist M. S. Waldron for more than 20 years. He currently resides in Hillsboro, Oregon (USA), just slightly to the left of the picturesque midriff of the Pacific Northwest... Known for recurring collaborations with NURSE WITH WOUND and through a phantastic trilogy of albums with reference to the radical psychoanalytic and founder of body psychotherapy WILHELM REICH, the creations are much grounded in non-orthodox surrealism and collage and fall somewhere between beauty and absurdity, between amorph drone ambience transcensions and bewildering and attacking noises, often with deep philosophical and psychological implications involved... Released in an edition of 300 copies on clear vinyl, with full colour artwork by M.S. Waldron himself. [label info]

LAW -- "Our Life through your Death" -- CD -- €10
2000 Triumvirate
Industrial / Dark Ambient. The gun on the cover of this album, LAW’s Mitchell Altum tells us in the liner notes, “is the pistol my younger brother used to commit suicide.” The music itself is scarcely more cheerful or forgiving, but it’s certainly a compelling expression of Altum’s misanthropy. With occasionally recognizable guitar buzzes and snippets of spoken word, it’s pretty clear that the work of Boyd Rice’s project NON is one of LAW’s big inspirations. Atmospheric and minimal but never quite sedate, tracks like “Scars of Isolation” and “100 Degrees” employ various metallic sounds, ranging from crashing cymbals to percussive springs, and a large dose of studio effects to generate a sort of dull pessimism. Despite the intensely personal event that apparently inspired it, this album is less emotive and cathartic than numb and hopeless. Even the sad moans of “Unseen Existence” are produced electronically. Such a bleak response to personal tragedy, however, makes for a fine approach to industrial ambient, and there are some beautiful tracks here. “Forged Motion” is soft and eerily creaking, full of deep feedback and muffled pulsing rhythms, while “Your Body Is Immobilized” and “It Is Beyond Us Now” have more of a martial feel– again, reminiscent of NON’s early work – with its extended brassy drones. The one soft spot in all this unforgiving industrial ambience is “Betrayal of the Flesh,” which begins with soft, almost folksy psychedelic guitar strums. The song itself is a betrayal, however, and turns unexpectedly into an extended noise composition full of high-pitched squeals and distorted percussion. Pitiless music for a pitiless world, LAW is soul music for the sociopath within. Listen with caution. [Matthew Johnson, Grave Concerns]

LAW -- "Vindication and Contempt" -- CD -- €10
2000 Triumvirate
Dark Ambient / Industrial. LAW is the dark electronics project of Mitchell Altum from the US. It has been around since 1993, but this album from 1997 was released in 2000, as the first album on the Triumvirate label. Vindication and Contempt contains a varied and well-made mixture of dark ambiences and experimentation. The sound ranges from synth-based waves to more abstract sources of melody, spoken word, percussion, samples, and a host of other sounds. "No One Will Find Them", for example, is embellished by faded acoustic guitar. At other times, elements of noise seep through into the mix, creating a more oppressive atmosphere. All of these elements sound excellent, and the tracks all manage to keep my attention. The listener is tossed between soothing parts, dark, noisy bits, and pieces with driving percussion, such as the final track "Titan". I might have liked to hear a bit more emotion in the tracks, which are at times 'clinical', but as it is, Vindication and Contempt is a fine piece of underground dark electronics. [O.S., Evening of Light]

MAUTHAUSEN ORCHESTRA -- "Where Are We Going?" -- CD -- €10
2008 BloodLust!, B!091
Industrial. The first full-length release in over ten years! Pierpaolo Zoppo returns with seven new songs, recorded for BloodLust! in 2006, as a follow-up to his "Smooth Hate" 7-inch (B!065), which immediately sold out of its limited edition of 100 copies --- and the "Forbidden Ground" private series 7-inch (B!056); Perfectly cold, austere, and dark analog synth material --- for fans of Zoppo's outstanding, evolving contemporary work --- yet carrying enough weight behind it to please all but the most close-minded and jaded fans of his early, violent, primitive, and raw Mauthausen Orchestra recordings (recently revisited for the lavish Broken Flag box set released by Vinyl-on-demand in 2007); This CD is packaged in a handsome black and white and color four-panel Digipak, designed by ex-BLOODYMINDED member, Megan Emish. NIMH & MAUTHAUSEN ORCHESTRA -- "From Unhealthy Places" -- CD -- €10
2009 Silentes Minimal Editions, sme 0932
The energy, the genius and the intransigence of the music of the hystoric “cult” power electronics project Mauthausen Orchestra/Pierpaolo Zoppo, united to the originalty, the eclecticism, the rigorous experimental research carried on since fifteen years by Giuseppe Verticchio, mostly with his “Nimh” solo project… Disturbing images of unhealthy places, nocturne landscapes covered with fog, psychotic nightmares, tormenting and delirious, described with sonorities of great impact and incredible dramatic force… A dark and long itinerary, to be covered wrapped in the spirals of a time that progressively seems to slow down and stop, folded on itself, just like suspended in the void, without offering any way out… A sonic adventure for brave souls… Elegantly packaged in a digipack. REUTOFF -- "ReuTRauM IV" -- 7" -- €7
2000/2005 Drone Records, DR-46, (ltd. 300), 2nd edition
The re-release of this classic first REUTOFF 7“ from 2000 ! Comes with nice full-colour cover and on extraordinary brown-black vinyl! “This russian trio comes from a suburb of Moscow (called Reutov), and this, following some cassette-releases, is their vinyl-debut and first release outside of Russia. As one of the pioneers of the Russian industrial-scene REUTOFF create an ultra dark visionary music, using elements of ambient as well as rhythmic industrial. "WAILED", the A-Side, begins with atmospheric, but rather unpleasant samples & sounds, before harsh electronic beats come in; "VEILED" on the B-Side however, is a perfect example for the group's ability to build unsettled, sinister & creepy dark ambient industrial sounds, with an overall atmosphere of despair & deep melancholy, maybe mirroring today's "Russian soul". There is no light in this darkness, maybe only behind it. "The space of Reut as the dream of regret" [original Drone Records press release]

REYNOLS -- "10.000 Chickens Symphony" -- 7" -- €7
2000/2003 Drone Records, DR-42, (ltd. 300), 2nd edition
One of the most famous and immensely requested EPs on Drone ever by this unique group from Argentina, finally re-released!! "First 7" for this obscure group from Buenos Aires that has existed since 1993, as they entered the international cassette scene with a kind of abrasive ambient sound. Since then, they have released several cassettes & CDs on various labels, did concerts in their home country and recently worked with PAULINE OLIVEROS. For their first 7", REYNOLS did field recordings of (at least) 10.000 chickens and effected them to create a deep-frequency drone with bits of chicken sounds in it for side 1. As a contrast, side 2 shows the more original face of the recordings, a storm of unbelievably high & shrieking sounds (similar in a way to FRANCISCO LOPEZ insect recordings), which are at last also being manipulated to increase the astonishing orchestral noise the chickens produce. A very successful field-recording experiment made of pure animal sounds!!!" [press release]

Streicher utilise a mix of total noise / power noise with covert military recordings, military equipment, radar signals, military telecommunication signals. SUDDEN INFANT / GREY WOLVES / MACRONYMPHA -- "Interzone 3" -- CD -- €10
1993/2013 Industrial Recollections
Noise / Experimental. This 1992 collaboration has been issued at least 5 times. Originally by SSS Productions, followed by Open Wound, Industrial Heritage and Mutter Wild. But never before on CD. Not only it's extremely good release what comes to music, but also reminder of somehow more innovative and creative ways of making release. It was possible to combine masterminds of different approaches to create on masterpiece. Versatile Swiss aktionist, brutal American harsh noise unit and bleak lo-fi UK industrial/pe. One track edited by Joke Lanz, 3 others by Rodger Stella, based on the source sounds of eachother. Sound is the absolute best, from master tapes of band, and cover artwork created from original images. It doesn't imitate SSS approach, but the original intention of Macronympha. [press-release]

SUTEKH HEXEN -- "Luciform" -- CD -- €10
2011/2017 Ksenza Records, KSZ 021, (ltd. 500)
Post Black Metal / Noise. Luciform is defined as "of or pertaining to the qualities of light," which is a perfect description of Sutekh Hexen's shining demonstration of their mastery of the "black noise" style, but I can assure you there is no light here. The six disturbed hymns that comprise this twisted, churning, blackened mass lurch forward like a searing wind, slowly wearing away at everything in sight. This blistering album, while boasting some of Sutekh Hexen's "cleanest" and most recognizable guitar work, is still masked by Sutekh Hexen's signature, Xenakis-esque walls of horrific, incomprehensible noise. A maddening struggle through pure inorganic sound and disembodied shrieks, this is the perfect balance between black metal and noise that experimental musicians have been desperately seeking from the days of Exmortes and Abruptum. When this album destroys the walls that surround you, lay back and prepare to be obliterated yourself and become one with the noise... Remastered by James Plotkin. Packed in A5 digipak. [label info]

French CEDRIC PEYRONNET (aka TOY BIZARRE) is currently one of the most impressive composers using / processing pure nature recordings, and shaping them into something beyond the known... his soundscapes are full of details and circling dynamics but keep a floating & atmospheric character... like ARTIFICIAL MEMORY TRACE, ERIC LA CASA or FRANCISCO LOPEZ, this is not just a recording of "what was", but a scheme of what could be!! lim. 300 full colour cover, clear vinyl. TROUM & YEN POX -- "Mnemonic Induction" -- CD -- €10
2002/2015 Transgredient Records, TR-11
Completely re-mastered re-issue of this much requested dark dream-opus from 2002, now bringing out more sound details inside the endless amorphous morass; 4 movements, 63+ min. long. Comes with NEW artwork by GYDJA incl. the 'dream essay' by R.B. HENSLEY that should be read accompanying during this subconscious/subsonic experience... "How could this be anything but perfect? Two of the most capable ambient projects of the current generation doing what they do best: dark ambient. I'm tempted to say nothing except that this is exactly what you hope it will be. Dark, escalating, imperious walls and oceans of titanic sound. Swelling currents of icy miasma swirling endlessly on through a descending subterranean river five miles wide. It rumbles and groans and shudders for ages. How does one get so much depth out of sound? .... The listener can penetrate so far into this landscape. The tones are so elaborately pieced together that the forefront is gauzy, wispy, ghostlike. On the horizon are huge stone structures, mountains, tornados of power but far away and almost invisible to the ear. Affecting you only by subsonic booms that rattle the soles of your feet. You can almost step into this and turn around on your heels, face your room and watch your body recede as you slip slowly away on a living ocean of sound." [Malignant Records]

VARIOUS ARTISTS -- "Drone-Mind // Mind-Drone Vol. 5" -- LP -- €15
2016 Drone Records, MIND-05, (ltd. 400)
Four "Drones" on one record! Volume FIVE (MIND-05) is OUT NOW (Oct. 2016) and features: GYDJA, CLADE, MONOCUBE, YRSEL. GYDJA: (New Zealand) Enchanting female drone esoterica by an artist who is also known through her stunning artworks for COLD SPRING and other labels. Through magnetic winds and metallic clouds the long track "Gjallarbru" creates a wonderful secretful and sensitive atmosphere; very lonely and frosty, like a cold and clear consciousness released on a high mountain, on top of the world... CLADE: (Scotland / USA) Named after a notion taken from biology science (=Monophylum), this duo is based in Scotland and USA, alluring with very focused minimal drones on so far four releases. The two tracks presented here stand out with their use of somehow refractional, fibrous sounds, placed on monotonus drones with a very sedative and insistent effect... MONOCUBE: (Ukraine) This "ethereal drone" discovery from Ukraine moves musically through endless spaces, creating choral-like aural clouds and strange melodies => self-supporting drones with an incredible width, when even the smallest particles of concrete microsound encountering are exciting, entering into a heavenly "song of the sirens" choir... YRSEL: (France) Another bi-national project is this French-Swedish collaboration of JULIEN LOUVET (2:13 PM, etc.) and C-J LARSGЕRDEN (ONDO), who released three albums so far. Their track "Krstnhmnbrtncrt" consists of very heavy, swallowing drones with atonal elements coming to the surface, diffus and poisonous but also lulling you into a deep (dead) sleep., slowly drowning in dense humming waves of cryptic drones... SOLID SILVER COLOURED VINYL, graphic design by ABBY HELASDOTTIR, using two paintings by British painter PETE GREENING; limited ed. of 400 copies. [label info]

VARIOUS ARTISTS -- "Drone-Mind // Mind-Drone Vol. 6" -- LP -- €15
2017 Drone Records, MIND-06, (ltd. 400)
The newest edition in our DRONE EXPLORERS series, for MIND EXPLORERS, with: NAM-KHAR (Germany), FOR KINGS AND QUEENS (Germany), MARKIAN VOLKOV (Italy) and KEVIN DURR (U.S.A.), ranging from nature vocal-drone to electronic ethno rituals to surrealistic soundscapes. Lim. 400 on beautiful blue-violet-transparent vinyl, with amazing cover-art (a true 3D effect with the use of extra golden pantone colour) by TILMANN BENNINGHAUS, using paintings by British painter PETE GREENING... NAM-KHAR: (Germany): A German collective being influenced by Tibetan philosophy, working in the 'old school' way using analogue electronics and original instruments from the Far East, for the first time on vinyl. The two conjoined tracks consist of dense analogue expanses that wave and move minimally, sparse metallic object sounds and wheezing winds, plus delicate percussion. Very best ethno ambient drone!.. MARKIAN VOLKOV (Italy): This completely anonymous project from Italy excites with hypno-percussive, tribalesque and droning ritual industrial, repetitive structures and samples immersing into echoes and electronic noises with great effect. The two tracks presented share a most captivating tension and power... FOR KINGS AND QUEENS (Germany): After some very promising self-released CD-R's the long track 'Grenzland' (borderland) is the first vinyl appearance for this Berlin-based project [a couple with a professional opera singer], - a deeply surrealistic soundscape with layers of high-pitched sinus tone drones and waves, unreal female voices appear and slowly metallic drones burst in and whirring shortwave radio sounds. Welcome to the borderlands of reality... KEVIN DURR: (USA): Field recordings of water (streams, rain and environment) and vocal whispers seem to be the only sound sources for two highly suggestive, almost caressing nature drone pieces, transformed through clever processing. KEVIN DURR hails originally from Alaska and has been active in various musical project and genres before he started the 'water drone' project with a series of tracks using especialy water sounds combined with binaural recordings techniques and ASMR (Autonomous Sensory Meridican Response) = two most subtle and fascinating acoustic landscapes.
