Dear friends,

It's summertime now, heavy heat and unwillingness to do anything, but ZHB distro continues to ride on the rails of musical insanity like an armored train lost in its own world – near two hundred new additions to our mailorder during the last month, a good half of which are tape releases.

This time we got new titles from the Russian labels Paper Moon Republic, Noyade Records / Perspex Icon, Dödens Kultur, COD Noizes, Pearly Snowdrift, Agfa Archive, Luxury Terrace, Sickcore, and Nazlo Records.

The international scene is represented by the selections from such labels as St.An.Da / 13 / Silentes / Oltrelanebbiailmare (Italy), Cold Spring (UK), Absurd Exposition / Scream & Writhe (Canada), Janushoved (Denmark), as well as the huge amount of ambient & noise tapes & records from a wide variety of musicians and publishers from around the world.

Some of this music is featured in our new mix:

Please send your orders by e-mail mm@radionoise.ru or zhelezobeton@inbox.ru. Reservations are possible for a reasonable period.

BALESTRAZZI, SIMON -- "Cautionary Tales" -- CD -- €10
2020 St.An.Da., 2025, (ltd. 200)
Abstract / Experimental. A cautionary tale in folklore warns its listener of a danger. There are three essential parts to a cautionary tale... First, a taboo or prohibition is stated: some act, location, or thing is said to be dangerous. Then, the narrative itself is told: someone disregarded the warning and performed the forbidden act. Finally, the violator comes to an unpleasant fate, which is frequently related in expansive and grisly detail. "Cautionary Tales" is a work that has slowly developed over 15 years, a work which Simon Balestrazzi (T.A.C., CANDOR CHASMA, DAIMON, ex-KIRLIAN CAMERA, etc.) returned to every time there was a new story to tell. The seven stories that compose it were born from hypnagogic-like states, strongly influenced by a surrealist imagery, in particular by Max Ernst's collage-novels. As in a collage, each time - with every new intervention - some new material was juxtaposed and reassembled with recycled materials from the previous session, until a homogeneous texture was obtained. In essence, this is an album which is both new and old, placed out of ordinary time and in search of a narrative and space of its own; a chronicle of events that never happened. Ltd x 200 copies in a gatefold digisleeve. [label info]

BEAUCHAMP, PAUL -- "Needs Must When The Devil Drives" -- CD -- €12
2021 St.An.Da., 2135 / Bare Teeth Records, BTR017, (ltd. 200)
Ambient / Drone. After the critically acclaimed "Pondfire" (Boring Machines, 2015) and "Grey Mornings" (Boring Machines, 2017), Paul Beauchamp has taken a new direction with his third album, "Needs Must When the Devil Drives". With this work, a single track lasting a little over half an hour comprising several movements, Beauchamp has moved away from the use of acoustic instruments as sound sources and has instead followed the mantra of Brian Eno of "the recording studio is an instrument in itself". Included in this new direction of using solely synthesized and sampled sounds sources, Beauchamp has also begun to explore new territory by using elementary beats and percussion while still remaining connected to his minimal roots through his dedication to drones and ambient. "Needs Must When the Devil Drives" marks a turning point in Beauchamp's solo career as a natural evolution in his unique approach to research and sound design as a creative tool. [label info]

BECUZZI, GIANLUCA -- "In Between" -- 2 CD -- €14
2020 St.An.Da., 2028, (ltd. 200)
Ritual Ambient / Drone Doom. A new double album from Italian electronic / electroacoustic composer and sound artist Gianluca Becuzzi (KINETIX, LIMBO, ex-PANKOW, ex-KIRLIAN CAMERA). "The shaman, the witch and the artist are three different figures, united by the desire for transcendence. Overcoming the material contingencies of one's context through the magic-creative gesture, which makes the will real, is their ultimate goal. The shaman, inducing the trance, seeks contact with the higher entities. Through the ritual, the witch intends to bend nature to man. The artist, through his work, creates allusions, images, hints of worlds hidden outside and inside the common perception... in this case the artist uses the voice as a mantra and the guitar drones as an element of alienating vertigo. "In Between", however, is not a spiritualistic work. On the contrary, it is an extremely materialistic work... In a present where the Real has gone beyond the Symbolic, it has become Hyper-real and the dystopias are now among us, for the artist the possibilities of expression have often become narrow. In an ultra-capitalist panorama he is ostracized and his position is marginal, especially if he does not adhere to a utilitarian and speculative perspective. The new witchcraft is the dissident voice, the unaligned gaze, the freedom that the experimenter can regain in another dimension that he creates himself, with his art." [Gianluca Becuzzi] Ltd x 200 copies in a 6-panel digisleeve.

BIANCHI, MAURIZIO -- "Lastfirst" -- CD -- €12
2021 St.An.Da., 2136, (ltd. 200)
Dark Ambient. "Lastfirst" is the brand new project by MB. The work is based on a reworking of his 1999 album entitled "First Day Last Day". The original work has been totally reprocessed and reworked into a darker version that reflects even more the dark times we are living in. A symphony that digs deep into our souls and lays bare all our fears. Together with "Dead Colours" (2003), "Lastfirst" represents one of the most intense and profound moments in MB's discography. Mixed by Pharmakustik. Absolutely unmissable. [label info]

BUNKER -- "II" -- CD-R -- €12
2011 Agfa Archive, AGFA 02, (ltd. 50)
Industrial / Power Electronics. : a return from the secret depths of a document buried in the ground : sound signatures under the camp-ringing echo : an angel of grace settled in a kennel, the prophet has a library - an ideological trap left to descendants : a prize for the invention of new methods of execution, columns of numbers on a transparent film grow before the eyes like a tree-flower of a demon : the skeletonized remains on the appellplatz are carried away by the wind, an endlessly monotonous repetition in the security cinema : the hissing sound of gas and forever remaining shadows, the commandant writes a letter to his wife and draws a guillotine at the end instead of a signature : in the shower room, a file cabinet, a forearm, a newcomer, with help, gas chamber trucks, the sum, poetry in the barrack : an aftertaste of alkali on the tongue, and a resonating concussion from broken tracks, gunpowder and a line of fire : two crossed triangles : a compact disc as gassing from audio systems : stop-play-reverse secret order in a whisper through breakwater of interference : organizing an action, deliberate simplification, counterpoint in agony, numbers, sacrifice... 11 tracks, 60 minutes, pro-CDr, 12-page art-book, postcard, stickers. CHANEY, NEIL -- "Aura (Original Soundtrack)" -- CD -- €10
2021 Cold Spring, CSR296CD
Dark Ambient / Neoclassical. We are very proud to release the original soundtrack by Neil Chaney to the British supernatural horror film "Aura" (aka The Exorcism Of Karen Walker). From the first notes, the incredibly evocative compositions feature huge swathes of cavernous Dark Ambient, with unsettling dark synths in the vein of the legendary '70's Italian Giallo horror. Quieter, and indeed sinister moments, are evoked by emotive strings, synths and piano, adding pathos and a melancholy atmosphere to the disturbing score... Aura: A couple discover Kirlian Photography apparatus in their new house. Intrigued by the concept of photographing peoples' Auras they unwittingly release an ancient evil. Only the local psychic can help and she knows far more than she reveals. Aura stars: Rula Lenska (a darling of British TV), Shane Taylor (Band Of Brothers), Jeanine Nerissa Sothcott (Nemesis)... Composing film soundtracks since 2009, Neil Chaney was also the creative mind behind the cinematic dark ambient / fortean electronics act SATORI (2007-2008 with Justin Mitchell), releasing their acclaimed album 'Kanashibari', and the EP 'Contemptus Mundi' (feat Magus Peter H Gilmore, High Priest of the Church Of Satan). He was also the creator of early 90's Industrial act PESSARY. [label info]

CIULLINI, DANIELE -- "Great Events Are Coming" -- CD -- €10
2020 St.An.Da., 2027, (ltd. 200)
Ambient / Glitch / Experimental. Over time, different sound elements have settled, coming to constitute a heterogeneous but at the same time subtly fascinating whole. The noise was compounded by infanticidely rhythmic timbres of toy instruments, rustling and crackling of old vintage radios have been joined by snippets of miniaturized voices from the web. The final work is a fil rouge that crosses all these elements joining them in an unconventional sound research hypothesis. [label info]

DUNHAM, K. HENRY -- "Sol Evocations (Live From Tio Gordos Cantina Exotica)" -- CD -- €10
2020 13, sps2035, (ltd. 200)
Dark Ambient / Experimental. K. Henry Dunham, of ambient project OUR LADY OF THE FLOWERS, releases "Sol Evocations", a continuation of the quantum mysticism and musical techniques explored in last year's "Holiday In Thule". Where "Holiday In Thule" was a celebration of the solemnity of dark winter days, "Sol Evocations" is a call to the long pulsing light of the sun. This journey through archetypal collective mind spaces was distilled from a 13-hour live improvisational set, with the intent of providing low volume background sounds to accompany an art show and film festival in Port Huron, Michigan. By employing cut up techniques, solar and ionic samples, Schumann Resonance, field recordings of sacred rites and mythic teachings, and lo-fi electronic devices, this movement of music calls the sun to illuminate these troubled times. Additional infrasonics and spectral processing by A601-2 and Toshimitsu Osawa. Artwork by Stefano Gentile. Ltd x 200 copies in a 6-panel digisleeve. [Cold Spring]

FAVARON, GUANLUCA & ANACTELO VITOLO -- "Overgrowth" -- CD -- €10
2020 St.An.Da., 2029, (ltd. 200)
Abstract / Experimental. A critique on technology: its efficiency, its purpose, its future. "Italian musicians working with the grand legacy of musique concrète and everything that followed the '50s tradition; from tape manipulation to laptop processing, from analogue to digital electronics. Objects are manipulated with hands, shakers and movers and then fed into the line of processors... There is a great vibrancy in all of these pieces, reminding me of the best of glitch music from so many years ago, with excellent fragmentation of sounds, freely plundered from various sources or from crushing acoustic objects, organized into new pieces of music; with fierce bass sounds, brittle high-end and everything being on a constant shift and drift. It is both dense layered and yet very open, thanks to the excellent production of the music there is a fine overall clarity in the music... an excellent release" [Vital Weekly]. Gianluca Favaron (LASIK SURGERY, MARIBOR, UNDER THE SNOW, VETROPACO, ZBEEN): Objects, Microphones, Laptop, Tapes with Anacleto Vitolo (AV-K, K.LUST, X(i)NEON): Live Electronics - Laptop, Effects. FM EINHEIT -- "Exhibition Of A Dream" -- 2 CD -- €14
2018/2021 Cold Spring, CSR292CD
Abstract / Experimental / Spoken Word. Twelve dreams of musicians, artists, and filmmakers, interpreted by FM Einheit (ex-EINSTÜRZENDE NEUBAUTEN), with voices by: Lee Ranaldo (SONIC YOUTH), Genesis Breyer P-Orridge (PSYCHIC TV / THROBBING GRISTLE), Susan Stenger (BAND OF SUSANS), Émilie Pitoiset, Erika Stucky, and the Gulbenkian Choir; with guest musicians: Volker Kamp, Saskia von Klitzing, Robert Poss, and Susan Stenger... Exhibition Of A Dream (L'exposition D'un Rêve) is formed of twelve dreams interpreted as songs. Exploded in time, these are played as temporary and evolving patterns of shapes and forms in an otherwise empty gallery following the drawings of mandalas. Exhibition Of A Dream highlights the complex beauty of how to generate a dream in the mind of the spectator. A shared experience to be lived within our own personal inner space, these remastered dreams are an invitation to listen to a sensitive architecture of words and music... Created 2017, recorded both in public and in private in the amphitheatres and the garden of the Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian in Lisbon, and in Einheit's own studio Steinschlag. The dreamers were: Apichatpong Weerasethakul, Lee Ranaldo, Émilie Pitoiset, Susan Stenger, Susie Green, David Link, Pierre Paulin, Alexandre Estrela, Tim Etchells, Gabriel Abrantes, FM Einheit, and Genesis Breyer P-Orridge... Originally released as a 3LP set, and only ever available at the 2018 exhibition at the Foundation. Presented in a 6-panel matt-laminate double digipak. [label info]

HALL, FRANK -- "I Remember You (Original Soundtrack)" -- CD -- €10
2020 Cold Spring, CSR287CD
Dark Ambient / Industrial / Neoclassical. We are extremely proud to release the official soundtrack to the cult Icelandic horror film 'I REMEMBER YOU' (Is: "Ég man þig"). Heavy dark ambient / industrial / orchestral soundscapes composed by Frank Hall, with a beautiful, solemn, folkloristic finale featuring Icelandic choirs. The soundtrack was created at the old industrial area of Grandi in Reykjavík, at a studio due to be 'gentrified' and forcefully emptied of the artists. "I was alone in this large building in this deserted area, working late hours, making music for a horror movie. It was during winter... wind blowing, darkness. There were some tense moments... As soon as I read the script I heard low brass in my head and that kind of stuck. We used a lot of brass instruments, filtered and processed throughout. I also ended up using a lot of bowed guitar, sometimes doubling the brass, sometimes more like a sound effect..." Hall also used analogue synths on the special climactic track "Montage". 'I Remember You' is based on the internationally acclaimed novel by Yrsa Sigurðardóttir, the "Queen of Icelandic Crime". A must for fans of Graeme Revell, Steven Price, Lustmord, MZ.412. Digipak. HIMUKALT -- "Knife Through The Spine" -- CD -- €10
2018/2021 Cold Spring, CSR289CD
Industrial / Power Electronics. Primitive, old school industrial, with an obsessive, post-mortem feel. This is the first CD edition of Himukalt’s cult 2018 LP (originally released on Malignant Records), remastered and including bonus material from the same recording sessions... "There’s something uniquely old school and primitive at work here, capturing the claustrophobic, unsettled and fragmented sound of early Illusion of Safety or mid-late ‘80s industrial on a whole, contemporising it, and filling it in with an obsessive, post-mortem feel. Knife Through the Spine delivers a steady cascade of abstract sounds, festering with grinding pneumatic throb, coarse frequency blasts and sputtering electronic oscillations, with spliced snippets of processed, flanged vocals and a general sense of social anxiety and disaffection. A unique and challenging take on heavy electronics for fans of Puce Mary, She Spread Sorrow, Atrax Morgue"... Himukalt is the Nevada-based project of the enigmatic Ester Kärkkäinen. IEROPHANIA -- "Postbellum. Part I" -- CD -- €12
2007/2020 COD noizes, SHUM305, (ltd. 97)
Industrial / Martial / Power Electronics. The first part of the dilogy "Postbellum", originally recorded in 2007, Ierophania is thundering with the mud of fatal years and echoes of bloody events. Heavy, smelling of smoke and tension of steel material of spiritual warfare was reworked and conceptually supplemented. The version of the album with the new mix has been extended with live tracks and one alternative version. Changed, in comparison with the first edition, the design of the album is graphically intertwined with the marching tension of musical lines and the lyrical tragedy of the narrative... The release comes in two formats: 97 hand-numbered gatefold mini-vinyl CDs with an inner sleeve and an exclusive postcard. [label info]

IEROPHANIA -- "Postbellum. Part II" -- CD -- €12
2007/2020 COD noizes, SHUM306, (ltd. 97)
Industrial / Martial / Power Electronics. The smell of the first post-war spring gives way to the horror of the coming tragedies. With the last breath of the lives of dying soldiers on the ruins of empires, all their virtues leave this world. Hierophany follows Death, inscribing the second part of the "Postbellum" dilogy (originally recorded in 2007) into infinity. Five monumental compositions in a new vision are folded into a ritual obelisk dedicated to the largest massacres in modern history. The design of the work is drowned in pristine blackness, framing the only driving force of a person – War... The release comes in two formats: 97 hand-numbered gatefold mini-vinyl CDs with an inner sleeve and an exclusive postcard. [label info]

LEWIS, RICHARD B. -- "Introspect" -- CD -- €10
2020 St.An.Da., 2032, (ltd. 200)
Dark Ambient / Drone / Experimental. Richard B. Lewis is a guitarist who has been active in the Italian punk/rock scene for several years now. BLACK DOLLS, ANARCOTICI, IN MY JUNE, are just some of the bands he has been part of from the '90s to the present. In 2016 he decided to launch a solo career, in his personal quest for folk and psychedelic rock sounds. He performed his first album, "City of Souls", on several dates in Italy and abroad. In 2018 the album was followed by a new EP, "Lies". Around the same time he met Fabio Zigante and collaborated with him on various new projects: MISS XOX, EL FUNERAL DE KOCIS, XX CENTURY ZORRO. In the meantime he continued to explore new sounds zones and conceived "Introspect", an album completely produced in Home Recording and definitely different from his previous efforts. With this new work he desires to take experimental sounds to the extreme and lead the listeners on an introspective path, in the most hidden places of their minds. [label info]

LISFRANK -- "The Human" -- CD -- €10
2020 St.An.Da., 2020 / FinalMuzik, FMLK102, (ltd. 300)
New Wave / Minimal / Electro. Legendary early 80's Italian synth wave pioneer LISFRANK is back with a new studio album. After his comeback “Elevator”, released by Final Muzik in 2014 on both vinyl LP and CD, Fulvio Guidarelli / LISFRANK started working again. Even though some of the songs on “The Human” were conceived as early as 2011, the album took shape in 2018; all tracks have been produced, remixed and remastered again and again, to guarantee the best recording result. The remastering work has been done by Andrea Bellucci (RED SECTOR A, NERVA, ILUITEQ). Expect that classic, catchy, typical LISFRANK's minimal electronic / 80's new wave trademark, with some interesting news: a few more aggressive songs (“I Hate”, “I Was Looking For Me”) show Fulvio Guidarelli's angrier face, while a darker shadow seems to haunt the whole atmosphere of the album. Such is the case of “Everything Passes”, of the obscure “Death's Dance”, the melancholic “A Dancing Star” or the beautifully estranging “Feel It (Your Body, My Body)” the latter of which was recorded with PANKOW's Maurizio Fasolo. “The Human” introduces a new, darker side of LISFRANK with solid, innovative songs and classic, old school minimal-wave hits (“In My Soul”, “The Cold Night”). Another “must have” from Italian electronic wave at its finest. [label info]

2020 Oltrelanebbiailmare, 202022 / VeniVersus, W06, (ltd. 200)
Acoustic / Ethereal. "Mono / Stereo" is a concept album in which the polar concepts of isolation and sharing constantly follow one another. Featuring a more acoustic focus compared to Lullabier's previous releases, it takes slowcore and ethereal dream-pop, and tunes them to a more intimate kind of songwriting. Folk-infused arrangements and minimalist structures flow throughout the album, guiding the listener across nostalgic, contemplative and even spectral feelings. Featuring Edgardo Moia Cellerino of LE MASQUE, who lends his voice to the track 'Soliloquio', this work represents the 'state of the art' of the LULLABIER project. MARUTTI, ANDREA & CARLO GIORDANI -- "Impressioni Organizzate Di Ansie Liquide" -- CD -- €10
2020 St.An.Da., 2024, (ltd. 200)
Musique Concrete / Experimental / Dark Ambient. In 2011 Andrea Marutti (AMON, MARIBOR, NEVER KNOWN, HALL OF MIRRORS, etc.) and Carlo Giordani were invited by Massimo Indellicati of Ambiente H to provide a soundtrack to accompany a series of experimental movies whose main theme was "water". That led to the creation of a series of long pieces that were collected under the title "Impressioni Organizzate di Ansie Liquide" ("Organized Impressions of Liquid Anxieties"). In 2019 the five parts of this fruitful collaboration were completed. On this release, the vast array of analogue / digital synthesizers and electronic devices handled by Marutti is perfectly matched to Giordani's field recordings and tapes, giving life to a totally immersive environment, handing out moments of considerable tension, but also sudden flashes of light and calm mesmerizing passages. The tracks feature incredible recordings taken by Giordani during a 5-day expedition in the restricted areas of the dams of Venerocolo and Pantano dell'Avio Lakes in the Brescia district of Italy, which are effectively used in combination with sampled and electronic sounds to create an 'augmented Musique Concrète' that touches Dark Ambient territories. MAUTHAUSEN ORCHESTRA -- "Private Thoughts Recordings" -- CD -- €12
2021 St.An.Da., 2133, (ltd. 200)
Ambient / Experimental / Noise. Nine years after the death of Pierpaolo Zoppo, an unforgettable artist and a forerunner of Industrial Music with his Mauthausen Orchestra 'cult' project, this new CD of completely unreleased material - containing tracks he composed between 2009 and 2012 - is finally released by Standa. The album - a release which has been officially authorised by his family - shows us Pierpaolo Zoppo at the peak of his artistic maturity: after investigating the most extreme and intransigent sounds for years with impetus, he finds a moment of reflection and some quietness, without completely abandoning its original instinctive and 'wild' nature, he knocks corners and softens forms, giving us ten tracks of music/non-music as 'strong' as ever, but at the same time touching and 'poetic' as never before... "Private Thoughts Recordings" (the title of the album was taken from notes that Pierpaolo himself had pinned with a felt-tip pen on a few home-burned discs containing his original recordings) is perhaps the best gift that the artist could have left us before departing for his long journey, and the most intense proof of his deep sensitivity and his incredible avant-garde 'sound visions'. A final chapter absolutely not to be missed. [label info]

Guided by the dosed mind of Fumiyuki Nagura starting in the mid-90’s, MO*TE operated in tandem with many other Japanese noise acts such as GOVERNMENT ALPHA, MONDE BRUITS, T.A.D.M., CRACKSTEEL, OUTERMOST, ROBOCHANMAN, etc.; acts that served equally important roles in forming the wide-reaching web of Japanese noise music, despite often remaining in the shadow of gods like MERZBOW, INCAPACITANTS, MASONNA, and HIJOKAIDAN. Like many other scenes of noise scattered throughout the world for the last forty years, Japanese noise has a unique sound and feeling that is ultimately unlike any of its other regional peers, and unsurprisingly, MO*TE is a project that can not be imitated by anyone else. Two words that come to mind when I think of MO*TE are “JUNK” and “DRUGS”, perhaps because looking through release titles and track names from his catalog will show that Nagura certainly has a proclivity for themes of damage, refuse, and a consciousness under the influence of mind-altering substances. Weaving together acid-soaked noise electronics, junk metal, delirious vocals and what sounds like field recordings from a densely-populated industrial megacity not too far into the future, MO*TE takes curious listeners on a trip through dark and caustic alleyways, opening various doors along the way to reveal bizarre scenes of the subconscious; places where thoughts and things tossed away previously come together to create something new, strange, and stimulating. NOISES OF RUSSIA -- "The Sun Of The Dead" -- CD -- €12
2021 COD noizes, SHUM33, (ltd. 97)
Industrial / Experimental / Spoken Word. The album "The Sun of the Dead" is a studio version of the program presented by "Noises of Russia" in the spring of 2014 at the Equinox festival in Toksovo, in the St. Petersburg Museum of Sound and the Moscow club Zavtra. The main material was recorded at “P.S. Studio” (St. Petersburg) on Christmas 2016, then finalized by participants remotely in self-isolation during a pandemic in spring 2020. The album and its central composition are named after the classic text by Ivan Shmelev, quotes from which are carefully compiled into poetic lines... "...In their new full-length album, Noises of Russia perform their program in the genre of the parable about the journey of the Soul in the Afterlife. It begins with Death, when earthly pains leaves the deceased and he dissolves in the world that belongs to him now and forever with complete mutuality – now he also belongs to the world...forever (fragment from Sasha Sokolov's "Your pains will pass away soon...") Next, the deceased traditionally suffers Torments of Hell, here in a Buddhist version (classic description of Naraka, Buddhist hell). Then the "Sun of the Dead" rises over this twilight world. Lyrics for this track compiled from the work of Ivan Shmelev. After that the program reaches its semantic climax – notable track from the golden era of NR, "Child". The connection between three worlds, nether, middle and upper, manifests from the song of a dying child about a heavenly boat. The "Heavenly Seed" by Macarius of Egypt follows, flowing into "Anima Christi", the prayer to the Soul of Christ. The epilogue contains a compilation of the classic text by T.S. Eliot, unambiguously connecting two old friends - the Beginning and the End. It's closes the circle of composition, the album and life in general, when death is in the beginning of each true biography. And then there remains only the ascent to the true Heaven. Which we also wish you." [press-release]

NOZ NAD LESAM -- "Dom (Homeplace)" -- CD -- €12
2020 COD noizes, SHUM32, (ltd. 97)
Cold Wave / Minimal Synth. Album-dedication to all sleeping outskirts of cities and their residents. Synthwave sliding over concrete boxes with a romantic touch of hopelessness. The extraordinary one-woman project Nož Nad Lesam brings post-punk aesthetics and beams of electronic refraction into the unity of noise forms and industrial structures. A hymn to the gray crowns of the city monoliths and the semi-shades of the outskirts is written with a non-trivial presentation at the junction of genres. The cold of beating hearts spreads through the dark entrance halls. The line of skyscrapers covering the light is insatiable devouring lives, spreading further and further along the metro lines, bus routes and gnawed skeletons of forest parks. This is the Homeplace. NYTT LAND -- "Fimbulvinter" -- CD -- €10
2017/2021 Cold Spring, CSR234CD
Ritual / Nordic Folk. Notably outstanding on the Russian scene and largely compared with the legendary Wardruna, NYTT LAND are unique in their devotion to ritual Northern music and tradition. Their approach, using genuine native hand-crafted instruments, and true Old Norse, help them to grasp the true spirit of ancient Northern music like no one in Eastern Europe has done before. Their music is mostly based on the sources from Poetic Edda, performed in original Old Islandic... "Fimbulvinter" is enriched with instruments like bagpipes and trembita (Alpine horn), and throat singing skillfully used to illustrate the occurrence of the forces of chaos; chthonic monsters in the world of men and gods. Fear and powerlessness alongside belief in the coming revival, renewal... All Scandinavian mythology is permeated with fatalism, humbleness to fate. The same mood saturates "Fimbulvinter". The first part is dedicated to the creation of the world and people, embodying the warm seasons. The second half to winter, the death of all living things... 6-panel digipak featuring all lyrics. Second edition. [label info]

PSYCHIC DRONES -- "s/t" -- CD -- €10
2020 St.An.Da., 2026, (ltd. 200)
Experimental / Dark Ambient / Noise. PSYCHIC DRONES is a brand new project by Joel Gilardini and Kazuyuki Kishino (aka KK NULL). Born out of the admiration for each other works, during spring 2020 we decided to join forces together and started working on this new project. The composition process was quite straight forward: Joel would record sound sketches, which then wold be torn apart and decomposed by Kazuyuki. It was a creativity flood, exchanging mails and sound files over the ether, from Switzerland to Japan and viceversa. In less than 2 months we create a huge array of material, which after a sorting process became our first output as PSYCHIC DRONES. PSYCHIC DRONES can be introverted and reflective, or a full-blast explosion. It’s a full dimensional sonic journey inside the human psyche and its deepest shades. [from the artists]

RYR -- "118. The Hidden Sword" -- CD-R -- €12
2007/2021 Agfa Archive, AGFA 03, (ltd. 50)
Martial Industrial / Sound Collage. "...The Gods enter the world, they come to fight with the blind forces of Fate to change them. They fight with the Dragon and the Bull. In reality - with Demiurge, the master of this world. They either win or become expiatory victims. And in the beginning of each new Age, if we are able to see beyond the demiurgic look, in Archetypes and Aeons, the Hero is given the hidden message of Yearning, allowing him to forge the most powerful weapon to open the road of liberation and the way out from the prison of Fate. Archetypes carry the message and unveil the mysteries of science which allow to create the sword..." Even more deep, even more secret. Vagueness. Through the alloy of martial industrial and dark ambient is built the task of comprehending the unexplained. The presence of the mystery of general European myth throught the concrete historical cut. Thundering stretching layers of sound, cuts from the past, overloaded remembrances, dark calling depths, pulsating air of a dream. Wake! Alien-transmission crackle, whispered messages, and snippets of soulful vocals beamed from another dimension. An exotic melange of ambient, garage, pop, and techno. Ghosts of another time and place float in and out. An ocean of emotion to swim in. Sounds that trigger memories of incense and exotic flowers in bloom. Menacing tones tempered with overwhelming beauty and depth provide a mystical listening experience. Introspective headphone music for rainy evenings. [label info]

THURSO og NORMA REAKTSII -- "Garðarshólmi" -- CD -- €8
2021 Garðarsk Uruz, URUZ ᚺ
Dark Ambient / Drone / Harsh Noise Wall. Two Russian noise projects – ThUrSo from the banks of Volkhov and Norma Reaktsii from Tver – give in this joint work a tribute to the magnificent nature and mythology of Iceland, one of the names of which, Garðarshólmi, by the will of chance is consonant with the Old Norse name of the lands along Volkhov – Garðar. However, this is just a coincidence, and there is no more appeals to Volkhov topics on this disk, but there are seven meditative tracks in the styles ranging from hollow Dark Ambient to crushing chtonic Harsh Noise Wall that grows out from the depths of organic power electronics. Ice landslides resonate with tectonic clanging shifts in the depths of the earth's crust, the precipice of the mysterious Noise Ambient / Drone expands with fractal abyss of spirits' voices, the hum of the Vikings' horns of Vikings, accompanying the titanic rhodes of the giant stone horn, awakens the unbearable song of Gyallarhorn, which proclaims the coming of Ragnarök. Jewel case. The album is decorated with vintage photos ofIcelandic nature. [label info]

ZANNI, ADRIANO -- "Songs To The Sirens" -- CD + booklet -- €20
2020 13, sps2039, (ltd. 200)
Dark Ambient / Drone / Experimental. "This work is loosely inspired by the title of a song by Tim Buckley (a cover version by This Mortal Coil was quite formative for me). My passion for the sea, observed, listened and lived mainly - but not only - from the beaches of my land and during winter. A solitary invocation, a project still open, in progress for several years during which the photographs and field recordings used for its composition were collected, and assembled in its musical component during the months of lockdown. The audio part opens with a track centered on the recording made on the morning of 23 February 2020, which then, ironically, would have been the last time I could see, hear and feel the sea before the forced isolation caused by the pandemic. The sensory lack - visual, auditive and olfactory - that I suffered the most during isolation was that of the sea. To overcome this lack - as far as possible - I have composed, produced and mixed the audio tracks which are part of this album. As usual in my work, the photographs and sounds are complementary to each other and make up a single emotional and sensorial body. A single contemporary, visual and auditory landscape" (Adriano Zanni). File under 'Seascapes / Drone'. CD presented in an 8" 36-page art booklet. Ltd x 200 hand-numbered copies with hand-torn vellum covers.

ASTRO -- "Deformation Receiver" -- 7" -- €6
2013 Dead Mind Records, DMR23, (ltd. 200)
Experimental / Noise. Japanese synth-noise from Hiroshi Hasegawa (C.C.C.C., South Saturn Delta), now in his third decade of activity. Massive walls of analogue noise, perfectly structured and performed with a sound so detailed that it can actually be listened to and experienced as an orchestral piece. Hiroshi Hasegawa absolutely kills it on this recording as Astro. [Cold Spring]

ASTRO / HIROSHI HASEGAWA -- "Live At Muryoku Muzen Temple" -- LP -- €12
2008 Important Records, IMPREC198, (ltd. 500)
Experimental / Noise. This is the companion release to the Astro CD titled "The Echo At the Purple Dawn" being released at the same time on Important Records. Astro, of course, is the analog/space project of Hiroshi Hasegawa of the legendary Japanese group C.C.C.C. This limited vinyl only release was created using ring modulator and vocals, which are rare these days in Astro recordings... Born in 1963, Hasegawa began improvising with his voice and drums. In 1990, he made the group C.C.C.C. around the concept of improvised mass-noise with a very loud sound. Members included Mayuko Hino, Ryuichi Nagakubo, Fumio Kosakai. Hasegawa began his solo unit Astro with analog synthesizers in 1993 and continued playing in C.C.C.C. Though C.C.C.C. is no more, Hasegawa has continued with Astro and his numerous collaborations drifting between dreamy spaced out bliss and full on waterfalls of beautiful noise. [label info]

2013 Ultramarine, UM024, (ltd. 100)
Experimental / Improv. “Ins Kahle Zimmer Sinken Blaue Firne” is a fantastic “chamber” recording from Raymond Dijkstra and Matthias Boss, two masters of the screeching acoustic metal-on-metal. The title evokes the image of an exposed room with compact snow flakes falling in. Violin, organ, fork & spoon are the credited instruments here, blowing ice cold gusts into your room, or face hopefully. Imagine some sort of twisted classical music from a distant century, a gift of pure improv given to us by Dijkstra’s inimitable accordion style and Boss’ dramatic violin, this music has no time, only beauty. 33rpm 7″, comes in a silkscreened reverse cardboard cover. HOGRA -- "s/t" -- 7" -- €6
2011 Trust Krusher Recordings, (ltd. 200)
Noise. The heavily delayed vocals buried under the harsh chaotic electronics of the first track, soon gives in to waves of hard panned noise. Both tracks end abruptly with no warning. Side B introduces effected vocals over low end crunch, unexpectedly interrupted by glitchy bleeps before it stops. Finishing off the seven inch is another slow moving, thunderous piece, giving the release a somewhat melancholic edge before its finished. [recordsofthefleshgod]

HOGRA -- "Cannibal Oven / Poisoned Baptism" -- 7" -- €6
2012 Fedora Corpse, FCR703, (ltd. 100)
Noise / Power Electronics. Hogra’s 7-inch slab of death is so pig-fucked it’s absurd, a moveable noise feast of burbling underbelly, buzzing insects, whirling tornadoes, shamanic-trance voices, and sheets of static blown by a vicious wave of hell-wind. It’s like when Frodo puts on the ring and the conscious world disappears and all that is left is a nightmarish dreamscape of sharp colors and shadows. But here I go gettin’ ahead of myself again; that’s just the extremely lovable Side A. Flip-flop this sum’bitch for a different approach to non-metal mayhem: Al Jourgensen man-shouting, more of that ass-flapping wind, and a dangling rhythm that almost distracts, slapping the face every so often when there’s already plenty to mull over. Get OFF, guy! [Grant Purdum, Tiny Mixtapes]

MLEHST -- "Inedible Harvest" -- 8" lathe-cut -- €10
2006 Cipher Productions, (sic 24), (ltd. 50)
Experimental / Noise. A highly limited lathe cut comes from Mlehst. If understood correctly this was already recorded in 1998 and shows Mlehst in his best lo-fi noise form. Mlehst is short and to the point here, with harsh feedback/drone pieces but his recording quality is never so good, but it adds a great charm to this. With a total length of only ten minutes, this is almost like a popsong, except it's not pop and not a really song. But it's quite nice indeed. [Vital Weekly]

REDROT -- "Deviant" -- 7" -- €6
2009 BloodLust!, B!109, (ltd. 200)
Dreath Industrial / Power Electronics. A dark slab of necro-nihilism by cult death-industrial powerhouse Ryan Oppermann (Fabrico Incubo, Klinikal Skum, Narcoleptic Ward, Neuntöter Der Plage, Post-Mortem Junkie, Xombie). "Deviant" straddles an uncomfortable line between death-industrial, power-electronics, crust/sludge and a totally aggressive form of minimal synth; "White Walls" brings to mind Leichenschrei-era S.P.K. with its unwholesome mental ward pathology. [Tedium House]

REGOSPHERE / THE VOMIT ARSONIST -- split -- 7" -- €6
2013 Phage Tapes, PT:203 / Obfuscated Records, OR15 / DumpsterScore, DSC#100, (ltd. 300)
Noise / Power Electronics. Newly relocated back in Oregon, REGOSPHERE brings a heavy dose of his Anxiety-Electronics in a lurching, claustrophobic track that delves further into the off kilter rhythms, oozing synths, bowed metal screech and punishing vocals that have been surfacing on the past few split tapes and recent live shows. Putting aside some of the more psychedelic elements of past works and focusing more on the feeling of pure dread this track is one of his heaviest and most focused to date. Cancer is the new grim reaper... Hailing from Rhode Island and coming hot off the heels of his new full-length on Malignant, THE VOMIT ARSONIST lays down one of the bleakest death-industrial tracks ever committed to vinyl for this split. Andy is well known for his solo work as TVA as well as being a member of the long running power electronics outfit BEREFT and running the Danvers State tape label since 2008. Slow burn bass throbs lay the foundation for somber scorching synths, junk metal abuse and absolutely crushing vocals. Pain is the way... Black vinyl, mastered and plated at Aardvark, pressed at United. Pro-printed glossy b/w covers with black and silver labels. [Phage Tapes]

2019 Cipher Productions, (sic 114), (ltd. 75)
Industrial / Noise. Blackfire is the collaborative project of Wyatt Howland (best known for his work as SKIN GRAFT, but also the black heart of about 30 other Cleveland projects) and Andrew Kirschner (long-time experimental raconteur, and also a tentacled contributor to the Cleveland scene), a blurred vision of urban decay which finds a middle ground between Wyatt’s noise misanthropy and Andrew’s dissociative experimental manipulations. Found sound, filthy noise, late night unease, and backlot malaise all coalesce in the duo’s firs release in four years, ‘Blackfire’... BODY COLLECTOR -- "New Eden" -- C-30 -- €7
2010 Brave Mysteries, CQBL003, (ltd. 100)
Noise / Experimental. From beyond the other side of great lake Michigan transmits Khristopher Reinshagen; aka Scorpio & Glass aka Khurst aka Nurse Etiquette aka Nuhrst. It has been rumored that this may be the final BC release ever, and if so, this project ends with just as much unsettling fury and disgust as when it began. Using bleak themes and imagery to drive the manipulation of industrial elements into the accumulation of brooding noise walls and filthy tape grime, Body Collector has released twenty or more focused and intense installments of sonic nausea over the last three years of his short life. This cassette sets you off into another strange aryan-voodoo nightmare dimension, haunted by an always tense, menacing presence, calling out through the hiss and hum of the threshold between our dimension and the New Eden. Broken tape systems consume every sound, encrusting them with analog waste. Metal vomit gushes between each gasp of sickly feedback. Every motion of sound seems like it is trying to force it's way past the other sounds and flop out of the speakers, onto the floor, to hemorrhage and die right there before you. Despite the generous mutations of all the machinery, you can always hear Khurst himself underneath it all, conducting the steel, slowly churning and mashing his ritual tools of scrap metal and material decay. A formidable requiem to such a morbid project, if ever there was one. [label info]

DADHIKRA -- "The Silver Forest" -- C-28 -- €7
2021 Dödens Kultur, DK№10, (ltd. 20)
Pagan Lo-Fi Noise Ambient / Drone, dedicated to the mysterious forest atmosphere in early summer, in anticipation of the solstice. Bird voices and buzz of insects are gleaming, solar ultraviolet is palpating the copper pine trunks, light wind is permeating everything with its silver rustle – the indistinct gasping mythical organic sound of this album paints the picture of a mystical, living forest of Pan, satyrs and nymphs of Ancient Greece, and spirits from animistic cosmogonies with rough, but small strokes. This is the first part of the dilogy, the continuation is already on the way. Cover and cassette body stickers are made of silver cardboard. [label info]

EBAUCHE -- "Formic Syntax" -- C-45 -- €6
2018 Cosmic Winnetou, CW43, (ltd. 70)
Dark Ambient / Glitch / Experimental. "Formic Syntax" began as an experiment in sound-design which organically grew into a full-length album. Composed primarily in Berlin, with additional work being done in Poland, each piece focuses on the unique capabilities of both FM and granular synthesis methods to create new auditory landscapes. The album embraces opposing spectrums of ambience and chaos - approaches to music which utterly fascinate me - with a focus on densely layered and intricately detailed construction, subtly backed with heavily-effected and distorted field recordings recorded, mostly, in and around Berlin city. [Alex Leonard aka Ebauche] Sometimes heavy, sometimes dense electronic sounds. This tape helps you to navigate through your urban life. [label info]

Although a number of cool self-released discs exist, this is apparently the first label effort for Flatgrey with those who dare being rewarded with "blistering, face-melting, sheets of white-hot noise" contained within silk-screened cases. Think classic US noise with less emphasis on bass meets lofi analog take of recent Government Alpha / K2 Jap style. HOLLOW BUSH -- "Negative Line" -- C-30 -- €7
2006 Hanson Records, HN149
Noise. After some time living on the west coast, Rodger Stella moved down to Birmingham, Alabama and eventually started releasing material again, this time under his own name. Also around this time began an ongoing collaboration with fellow noise artist Bryan Martin called HOLLOW BUSH. Some of the first releases from the project, such as “Negative Line” (Hanson Records) or “Wrong Hole” (Trash Ritual) feature devoted analysis of loud crunching textures delivered brutally, but with the editorial delicacy of a surgeon. Continuing in the monolithic wall of noise vein that OVMN has become known for, HOLLOW BUSH’s releases come together as one solid sound of unrelenting and absolute top-quality sonic walls, crunching textured noise. JANG, HEEJIN -- "#Stigmata" -- CS -- €6
2019 Muzan Editions, MEDS031, (ltd. 60)
Experimental / Noise. Using a Buchla 200 during her residency at EMS Stockholm in 2018, Heejin Jang has created a raw and complex experience of vulnerability and pain. Stuttering noise and machine cries drone and pulse desperately, as if trying to feel, as if trying to embody the flesh that made and manipulated them. One could almost mistake the kinetic energy released by each track as the warmth of a beating heart – and indeed, there is no mistaking the warmth and humanity (mechanized as it is) inherent in this work. Through the noise, roar, and hum of the machines envisioned here, we can hear a voice – or a multitude of voices – speaking out and entreating us to listen, to understand, and to have sympathy. KNIFE CITY -- "Hex Inheritance" -- 2 CS -- €10
2008 Cipher Productions, (sic 43), (ltd. 100)
Noise / Experimental. The final Knife City release is an expansive double cassette collection spanning the project's most productive timespan of 2004-2007. Four sides running the full range of possibilities this project had to offer, from lush textural floats to biting feedback scald and punishing distortion barging. This one-time Warmth cohort delivers a particularly poignant and personal take on noise timbral intricacies, and perhaps this release will give a few more people the opportunity to experience Branden's abilities. Full colour professionally printed artwork, inserts and labels all housed in an oversized white cassette caddy. [label info]

KNUNN -- "Sirena" -- C-30 -- €6
2008 Nil By Mouth Recordings, NBM16TAPE

KSHATRIYAS AGAINST TIME -- "Seelenloch" -- 8" reel -- €28
2021 Paper Moon Republic, PMR_63, (ltd. 50)
Dark Ambient. I decided to release another album from the French project. Minimalist, full of archaic winds soundscape inspired by the works of the Norwegian project Ildjarn. An ode to the souls of the ancients, buried in the old Western European barrows of the Neolithic era. "The soulhole" on the overgrown gravestones, as an invitation to contemplate the great cyclical endless nostalgic journey from one body to another. Recorded at recycled soviet reel tapes and packed in a cardboard box. Side B duplicates side A. [label info]

LIGATURE IMPRESSION -- "Slaves To Our Senses" -- C-20 -- €7
2014 Danvers State Recordings, DSR53, (ltd. 50)
Death Industrial / Power Electronics. Brilliantly Sinister. Death Industrial that sounds like it was created by a night stalker with a long history of sadistic violence. We all think of things that would be highly illegal to act out. Ligature Impression use this to create a pitch black world of shadows while bringing dark fantasies to life in disturbing clarity. [Traumatic Static]

LINGUA FUNGI -- "Azure Beyond" -- C-20 BOX -- €16
2014 Aural Hypnox, [AHMC08], (ltd. 133)
Drone. 'Azure Beyond' offers a glimpse into a more tranquil and minimalistic facet of Lingua Fungi. Performed with zither, harmonium and bells, 'Azure Beyond' is a slowly evolving and organic drone painting of the mind and matter diminishing in to a single point in an azure infinity - a gravitational collapse in an ever-expanding vastness. Cassette packaged in an oversized, silk-screen printed cardboard box including five insert cards and a pack of incense (15g) created especially for this release by Mount Hypnox. [label info]

MACRONYMPHA -- "Purulent Recollections" -- C-60 -- €12
2016 White Centipede Noise
Noise. Two brand new long-form tracks from THE essential American Harsh Noise horde. A continuous blast of industrial filth and rotting flesh that flows forth like pressurized viscous matter being expressed through a small hole. Classic Macro dense mass that keeps coming and coming... All noise by Roemer/LS. [label info]

MASTURBATORY DYSFUNCTION -- "Water Bondage" -- C-30 -- €10
2018 Cipher Productions, (sic 101), (ltd. 75)
Industrial / Noise. Water Bondage treads a fine line between Masturbatory Dysfunction's static constructs and Felicia's darker clouds of smogged finesse, its 30 minutes carefully layering and tightening streams of smothering industrial noise with no permitted alleviation. Its tracks choke with insistence, and seem to be realised from a state of oxygen-less semi-consciousness and inhibition. Edition of 75 copies comes in an A5 ziplock bag with double-sided collage artwork from Luke Holland (Trapdoor Tapes), accompanied by some rope and netting for added inspiration. [label info]

MEYERS, JUSTIN -- "The Sound From The Other Room" -- C-26 -- €6
2005 Tone Filth, TF37, (ltd. 98)
Experimental / Field Recordings. Justin Meyers is an experimental musician and visual artist residing in Minneapolis. His work spans the formats of video, sound, screen, & print, but maintains a strong minimal approach across all mediums while confronting the expectations shared amongst the performer and audience. Instruments and processes used in his sound work include commercial and home-built modular synthesizers, reel-to-reel tape machines, computer algorithms and arrangement, obfuscated natural sound events and field recordings.

MIRROR OF NATURE -- "What The Photograph Reproduces To Infinity Has Only Occured Once." -- C-67 -- €6
2018 Muzan Editions, MEDS020, (ltd. 100)
Ambient / Drone / Experimental. This collab by ambient guitarist Cinchel and percussionist Mike Weis (joined by Neil Jendon, who recorded the album, on synthesizer for a track) feels ancient. Like it’s a prophecy, a scroll set to music. Or, if not a prophecy, then a document of divine wisdom. At least that. There’s something here that defies logic yet feels 100 percent rational. Spirituality meets tactile engagement. The esoteric hits the ground... But then you get lost in the philosophical suggestions of the titular photograph, its infinite representation a false legitimacy disproved by actual events. Cinchel and Weis are your guides across maps and atlases, over windswept mirrors and frozen canvases. Their interplay is the compass and the magnetic fluctuations that throw off your direction. The holy divination becomes an ever-shifting endpoint among a deepening complexity... And it’s incredibly difficult to get back on your original track. Good thing the diversions are equally fascinating. [Ryan, Cassette Gods]

MLEHST -- "The Longest Lie" -- 3 CS -- €20
2007 Black Horizons, BH-09, (ltd. 89)
Experimental / Noise. Now back in full force from an extended hibernation, Mlehst brings you 2 hours of material from prior to said absence. A sort of best of, most tracks previously released, but worked over to varying degrees, as well as some new material. The sounds wander through a desolate and cold world, occupied by snippets of voices and other field recording manipulated via reel to reel tape, sterile sheets of white noise, and silence. Offset printed silver and black on charcoal linen cardstock covers, xeroxed charcoal and black linen cardstock insert, in a black vinyl box. Hi-bias chrome tapes in an edition of 89. [label info]

NAKASAKO, HIDEO -- "Texture Of Days" -- CS -- €6
2019 Muzan Editions, MEDS030, (ltd. 80)
Ambient / Experimental. From deep in the Osaka electronic music scene, Hideo Nakasako brings us Texture of Days. Alive with clandestine rhythms and lush swells of granular ambience, Texture of Days guides us through a city of sound where the automated and organic meet: machine sounds loop and pulse with ceremonial regularity as the warm chaos of human uncertainty encroaches, leaving nothing unchanged. Each track lives and breathes like a body possessed, with rich textures and routines propelling it forward, the dream of intention and consciousness following closely behind. [label info]

OBERLIN -- "Grauer Morgen Ungewisse Bilder" -- C-40 -- €6
2020 Cosmic Winnetou, CW50, (ltd. 50)
Ambient / Drone. Oberlin likes to walk through the woods before his house especially on foggy winter-days. It´s when the outlines of all things dissolve and everything seems to be connected to one another, at the same time things are damped and less obtrusive. Especially on these days he tries to transfer the atmosphere from the outside to the inside as well, to dissolve the outlines of his intruments as well as let them flow one into another. A meeting of guitar, piano and a eurorack modular. Somewhere between the rivers Rhine and Moselle... Beautiful drones to soothe your mind and soul. Buy this tape to warm up your home. [label info]

2019 Detachment Programs, Program 8, (ltd. 69)
Noise / Experimental. Joe Roemer (MACRONYMPHA) solo. Dynamic sound journey from the Monroeville man. What the volume knob was made for. Part 2 of the trilogy. [Analog Worship]

PESTDEMON -- "Esurient And Unwholesome" -- C-40 -- €10
2008 Unrest Productions, Unrest 18, (ltd. 100)
Industrial / Noise. PESTDEMON is a Swedish sound artist, now working under the name ARKHE. "The sound is visceral. There's gristle in the sound. Side one is full of swirling electronics and tinkling Tibetan percussion making a sound of evil amongst the crawling chaos, side two has storm interference on a shortwave radio. The overall sound is of power electronics from the 1990's. Think Cold Meat Industry and Art Konkret. It came across (at the time) as a stunning debut and three years later is still a great listen." [MuhMur]

QUACK QUACK / MILOS OLYMPUS -- split -- C-30 -- €10
2016 White Centipede Noise, (ltd. 50)
Noise. Rough industrial harsh noise from Gothenburg. QQ is Dan Johansson of SEWER ELECTION and Hugo Randulv from ENHET FÖR FRI MUSIK. Nauseating feedback, blurred out speech, and gut scraping physical loops simulate that flip of the switch when the liquor suddenly hits you too hard and you realize life is a miserable chore. MO is new blood, a couple that run the Forever United label together. Raw harsh noise executed with a great sense of timing, and structured in a powerful yet simplistic way. Heavy crunch and crumble tape noise punctuated with synthetic tones that are simultaneously ethereal and raw. [label info]

REGOSPHERE -- "Insomnia" -- C-30 -- €9
2014 Danvers State Recordings, DSR55, (ltd. 50)
Death Industrial / Power Electronics. REGOSPHERE creates "anxiety electronics", and that description could not be more appropriate here. Two side long tracks full of panic and terror, American death industrial/PE at it's finest. Heavy synths, screeching noise, clanging metal and manic vocals. There is no release from insomnia... only recurring nightmares. Limited to 50 copies. Lyrics included. [Freak Animal]

RIVER MAGIC -- "Spring Thaw Brings The Fever" -- CS -- €22
2010 Hospital Productions, HOS-263, (ltd. 100)
Power Electronics / Noise. More cheery niceness from Dominick Fernow (PRURIENT), here for a one-off as RIVER MAGIC. Needy, needling noise claws at your ankles before sputtering diseased electronic phlegm on your crotch with 'Spring Thaw Brings The Fever'; 'Perished In The Jungle' is shock and awe power electronics; 'I Just Couldn't Get Thin' is the most dynamic, lashing the senses with keening distortion and unholy vocals for nine minutes. SPIRITCZUALIC ENHANCEMENT CENTER -- "Transporting Salt" -- CS -- €6
2020 Crash Symbols, PBUH123, (ltd. 250)
Psychedelic Rock / Free Improvisation. Though officially based in Berlin, Spiritczualic Enhancement Center’s home is the globe itself. This transcendental jazz band features members from the U.S., Israel, Iran, Turkey, and Russia, each lending elements of their folk tradition to form a universal sound that defies regional distinction. SEC’s work floats on single-chord drones, weaving spooky threads of melody around syncopated beats. It’s meditative stuff, but more introspective than relaxing. Played in the background of your daily routine, Transporting Salt can make the mundane surreal. [Bandcamp Daily]

SSRI -- "Körperanalysis" -- C-60 -- €9
2011 Untergeschoss, UNTER04
Noise. Red tape with full color fold-out poster in a red painted polycase.

SSRI -- "Rebis" -- C-60 -- €7
2012 Mask Of The Slave, MS-036, (ltd. 88)
Experimental / Noise. Strangely hypnotic "woolly" noise, sounding like the echoes of a primordial beast. At first the entire mix slowly undulates, drawing you in, straining to pick up the details. The tape gives in to pure junk abuse for a few seconds before the crunch returns, sounding like a dying whale. The tape eventually progresses onwards into more familiar harsh noise territory, still keeping it's particular feeling. Original sounding, quality work... Side B entitled "Baphomet" starts off with muffled junk metal and down pitched voices, lurching along as a slithering synthesizer(?) fills in the top frequencies. Feedback emerges slowly from the background, while the down pitched voices fade to give room for rattling scrap metal accompanied by high pitched tones. Misery till the end. [recordsofthefleshgod]

SUGIMOTO, SHINYA & JESSE PERLSTEIN -- "I Confess" -- C-47 -- €6
2019 Muzan Editions, MEDS035, (ltd. 100)
Ambient / Field Recordings. “I Confess”, a collaborative work by Jesse Perlstein (Sontag Shogun; US) & Shinya Sugimoto (JP) sees both artists, after performing live together on many occasions, combining their musical forces for the first time on an official recording. Perlstein, responsible for tape manipulation and field recordings and piano virtuoso Sugimoto, have created a sonic adventure, initially leading us through a wide range of disparate urban environments with their seemingly endless cacophony. Halfway through we escape the concrete jungle, searching for a way to put our mind at ease. While being surrounded by the soothing sound of nature itself that lets us dwell in a well-deserved moment of contemplation, Perlstein’s haunting voice and Sugimoto’s subtle piano play enter the scene, just to make way for the listener to get caught up in a final maelstrom of swirling tapestries of sound. TEMPLUM N.R. -- "T.o.V. Improvisations XCII-XCIII" -- CD -- €16
2015 Aural Hypnox, [AHMC11], (ltd. 75)
Dark Ambient / Drone. The musical improvisations of T.o.V. derive from Umbra-visitation sessions held in the Temple of Mercurial Orgies and Room Luna Lake between 2014 and 2015. The concept of the album has been evolving within the minds of the Templum N.R. members for the past twenty years, so perhaps it is not proper to talk of this as their latest release. Linear time and Templum N.R. do not walk hand in hand and their rituals cannot be measured in hours but in years... Compared to their previous release ‘Spectrum CCCXC: Transitio’, this album is based on a more analog-organic approach than an analog-digital-synthetic. The four echoing Hymns of Otherness are here to awake the ghosts dwelling within; join the Stagnant Dance and meet the Carcass of Formations – the shrieks are heard from beyond... The cassette is packed in an oversized, silk-screen printed & stamped cardboard cover/box. Includes five two-sided insert cards and a canvas patch (18 cm x 30 cm). [label info]

USE YOUR PAIN -- "Satanic Constellation" -- CS -- €10
1996 Dreizehn, 1302, (ltd. 96)
Noise project of Kalojan Witanski aka KADEF. Bassy, rough, primitive, rumbling industrial-noise rituals. Its done without much of effects and none of the typicalities of ritual music. Just raw and dark noisy junk. There's nothing what really makes this qualify wide attention or "reissue", but just like Witanski's stuff in general, there is some totally different aura in them compared to almost any noise done these days. [Freak Animal]

VIPCANCRO / ANDREA BORGHI -- split -- C-46 -- €9
2013 Cipher Productions, (sic74), (ltd. 60)
Industrial / Noise. Split tape of VipCancro's organic ensemble noiseisambient and Andrea Borghi's more harrowing, angular noise constructs. VipCancro have an almost calmative effect, every tone mannered as their tightly-woven layers of sound slowly loosen. Andrea (one quarter of VipCancro) paces more forcefully, but his constructs ultimately prove more brittle, bareing glimpses of well-worn source material between cobbled processing. This is another in my line of specially packaged cassettes, this time the tape is housed in a cut, folded and stickered vinyl records, all held in place with velcro. [label info]

THE VOMIT ARSONIST -- "Reason" -- C-30 -- €7
2010 Nil By Mouth Recordings, NBM27TAPE
Death Industrial / Power Electronics. Inspired heavily by the films of Gaspar Noe and the writings of Michael Nine, "Reason" is 30 minutes of suicidal death industrial and power electronics. Heavy, oppressive synth work and forceful, minimally effected vocals. Desperately trying to find a reason to live through a seemingly meaningless existence. Includes a cover of BLOODYMINDED's "Ten Suicides." Black plastic bag & spraypainted black polycase with 5 heavy paper inserts. [label info]

Auriga is the Latin name for a chariot driver in ancient Roman chariot races. In the 20th century, this ancient sport was revived in a new quality, armed with a motorcycle engine. Motorsport also served as inspiration for new futuristic experience by YAO 91404 D: this is a Industrial Noise / Musique Concrète suite in three parts, imbued with roar of engines, squeal of brakes and noise of grandstands, mechanical aggression and dynamism. The cassette is packed in a handmade cardboard box with a set of 8 postcards. [label info]

Ambient / Vaporwave / New Age / Experimental. "Solarpunk is a dream, is a speculation, a science fiction - yet, it's a possible future. It's not retrofuturism, but instead a vision of how can we get there, to a better world. It is in our power to change the way we live, to think different, to abolish any kind of domination between ourselves and above nature. We have all the means to build a new kind of society: compassionate, ecological, inclusive for all cultures and identities, decentralized and free of political manipulation. ALTIERI, CORRADO / GIANLUCA FAVARON -- "To Found" -- CD -- €10
2020 St.An.Da., 2018, (ltd. 200)
Experimental. To find again sequences, sounds and samples, previously elaborated for other works and live performances, decontextualizing all of them to create new original material. These are the starting points for "To Found", the third release by Corrado Altieri and Gianluca Favaron on a Silentes label, devoted to all-round experimentation and stylistic contamination through the multiple languages of electronic sound. Drone music, post-Techno rhythmic disintegrations, suggestions of the old Industrial school, field recording, abstract echoes and noise pulsations, for eight hypnotic compositions created between Cagliari and Treviso, with the precious collaboration of Anacleto Vitolo. ARROWWOOD -- "Eye Of Ivy, Thorn And Moss" -- CD -- €10
2017 COD noizes, SHUM06
Dark Folk / Psychedelic Folk / Ritual. We are pleased to inform that we have released three records of the amazing American psych / dark-folk project Arrowwood. Two albums, "Hemlock And Spindle Flower" and "Eye Of Ivy, Thorn And Moss", were previously released only as DIY CDr, were instantly sold out and very quickly became "rarities". The third album, "Dark Fairytales", contains ten previously unreleased exclusive tracks, supplemented with material from the split recording with Novemthree, also released in DIY canons. "Hemlock And Spindle Flower" has been remastered for this release... Arrowwood is the "one-girl" project of multi-instrumentalist Chelsea Robb, positioning herself as "forest folk". Her music is addressed to Wiccan rituals, forgotten spells and mysterious forces that inhabit the depths of forest thickets. However, Arrowwood's music has its own unique sound, largely due to the truly unearthly voice of Chelsea, and the atmosphere that plunges the listener into a state of light autumn sadness... Despite the fact that the project is little known on the background of the titans of the dark folk scene, in the circles of connoisseurs it has long earned a cult status, including thanks to the collaborations with Novemthree and Kim Larsen’s Solanaceae. 2011 Sickcore, SC023, (ltd. 300)
New work by restless Polish musician deals with European capitals burning in fires. City anarchy, street wars, violence and terror. The musician most likely stands at the same side of barricade with rebelling society, in front of which like soldiers of the Evil Empire stand up legions of dogs of system. Crushing analogue outrage of sonic violence, raging vocals, cultural and street terrorism. This release can be compared to such sonic hooligans as Grey Wolves, Barrikad, Survival Unit, etc. [UFA Muzak]

DEAD BODY COLLECTION -- "Quite Unreachable Hell" -- 7" -- €6
2015 4iB Records, 4iB 7"/0714/011, (ltd. 200)
Harsh Noise Wall. This 7″ release was recorded during a very emotionally unsettling period of bleakness and hopelessness for prolific Serbian harsh noise wall act Dead Body Collection, otherwise known as Aleksandar Nenad. Just like a stormy vortex, the listener slowly gets sucked into a disturbing emotional experience of an ever ascending wall of dark and uneasy noise abyss. You can almost feel the anguish through the hypnotic and suicidal atmospheres manifested by the relentless wall of amplified grind and sonic vibrations. Once again, Dead Body Collection continues to stand as one of the more serious purveyors of the HNW scene. With the effective manipulation of rumbling static textures and deafening sonic intensities, these multitude layers of distorted monolithic noise frequencies eventually crush the listener into a hellish state of delirium. ENGEL DER VERNICHTUNG -- "s/t" -- 2 CD -- €5
2012 Oltrelanebbiailmare, CD201209
Oltrelanebbiailmare presents a double CD that collects the particular proposal of the never forgotten Engel Der Vernichtung from Rieti, Central Italy. Born in 1985 as a project by Federico Festuccia and Roberto Feliciangeli - soon joined by Daniele Arisi and Paolo Campanelli - the group took its disturbing name of "Angel of Destruction" from an Einstürzende Neubauten song. After several performances in deconsecrated churches and abandoned factories, Engel Der Vernichtung debut in 1986 with the cassette "L'Art de la mort". Their style is characterized by electronic sounds and classical melodies similar to those used by Dead Can Dance, while the lyrics are often taken from the works of famous Italian writers and poets such as Dacia Maraini, Valerio Magrelli, Giovanna Sicari and others. On the first CD of this collection we find all the tracks originally included in the Mini-LP "L'amour fou" released in 1988 and the complete album "Angels in the Dust" published in 1990. The second CD offers an extensive set of unreleased tracks recorded in a subsequent period. A touching journey around and inside feelings, between the sacred and the profane, an exploration of the subconscious where rationality is lost in favor of the most irrepressible and deep instincts. FAVARON, GIANLUCA -- "Equivalent XI" -- CD -- €5
2014 13, sps1405, (ltd. 200)
Following the publication of the extremely limited single-sided 12" record “Surfaces”, which occurred just a few months ago and is now hopelessly sold-out, Gianluca Favaron returns on 13 with a new solo work released in the prestigious "Private Sounds" series. Besides having published a few solo works, Favaron is part of Under The Snow along with Stefano Gentile and collaborates with Ennio Mazzon on the Zbeen project. In the past he has released music as Ab'she and was part of Lasik Surgery along with Pierpaolo Zoppo. Among his most recent releases we remember his collaboration with Corrado Altieri entitled "The System of Objects". "Equivalent XI" continues the path undertaken with "Surfaces", also benefiting from some excerpts that were already included in the aforementioned work, which are proposed again on this new CD. Starting from simple recordings of sounds produced by everyday objects (…such as paper, scissors, kitchen stuff etc.), treated mainly with two delay machines, Favaron has collected eleven compositions. The idea behind this new release is to create some patterns based on the repetition of small sound particles obtained from a single source. In the eleven tracks on the album, mostly of short duration, we witness the proliferation of particular sound events that, sometimes wandering alone or sometimes by congregating into small throbbing and vital lumps, generate a vibrant microcosm characterized by short loops, slowly but constantly evolving. In some cases, as for example in the more long-lasting closing number, the simplicity of the construct and the infinitesimal tonal progressions are appreciated for their intrinsic hypnotic quality. Mastered by Giuseppe Ielasi. [press-release]

GELLERIO -- "Ad Astra" -- CS -- €7
2021 Noyade Records
IDM / Ambient. Let’s be honest, a very few people have a boldness to mix-up almost anything from nowadays both functional and abstract electronic music. Without being a game composer. No doubt, the area of game music is full of masterpieces. But how often do you listen these soundtracks themselves, isolated from the game, in its entirety? Mordovian electronic musician Gellerio doesn't care about all of these conventions. He melts the bass vibe with synthwave effects at ease. Puts a distorted spoken word on the techno-alike rhythm in proportion, within which the first both ignores and complements the second. Swells the trancy percussion into vaporwave field with no sweat. In short, Gellerio behaves as befits an artist who does not see (or even does not know?) any restricting framework. In the hour and half Gellerio is able to lead the listener through those nooks of his experience, that even the hearing one had forgotten to think about. [label info]

LLYN Y CWN -- "Dinorwic" -- CD -- €10
2020 Cold Spring, CSR286CD
Dark Ambient / Field Recordings. Llyn Y Cwn conveys atmosphere and environment through deep ambient sounds. The sound of nature re-establishing itself in the post-industrial wilderness of a former quarry. A phantasm of echoes reflecting the bleak majesty and poetic melancholy of the hinterland of North Wales. A hole within a void, a place defined by absence in a world of negative space... The backdrop for this cavernous soundtrack is Dinorwic slate quarry. The field recordings were taken in this vast subterranean environment where an exposed scar of rock is carved out of the mountainside on the western slope of Elidir Fawr in Snowdonia, North Wales... Standing alone in the quarry, which covers 700 acres up to a height of 600m, it isn’t difficult to imagine work going on around you with the abandoned industrial landscape juxtaposed against the backdrop of the majestic Snowdonia skyline... Each track is named after an area of the quarry, descending ever deeper through each rock gallery, with their acoustically unique echoes and sounds. The landscape is in a state of constant flux with small avalanches of rock and spoil slate tumbling over itself – it was such a landslide that led to the eventual demise of the quarry. The hydroelectric power station, built deep underground inside the mountain, can be heard rumbling away through the various air shafts dotted around the quarry, adding to the overall ominous feel of the pieces... File next to fellow Welshman Lustmord. Presented in a 6-panel digipak with breathtaking photography by the artist. [label info]

LOPEZ, FRANCISCO & VALENTINA LACMANOVIC -- "With/In" -- CD -- €5
2013 Silentes Minimal Editions, sme 1360
Francisco Lopez is internationally recognized as one of the major figures of the sound art and experimental music scene. For more than thirty years he has developed an astonishing sonic universe, absolutely personal and iconoclastic, based on a profound listening of the world. Destroying boundaries between industrial sounds and wilderness sound environments, shifting with passion from the limits of perception to the most dreadful abyss of sonic power, proposing a blind, profound and transcendental listening, freed from the imperatives of knowledge and open to sensory and spiritual expansion. He has realized hundreds of concerts, projects with field recordings, workshops and sound installations in over sixty countries of the five continents. His extensive catalog of sound pieces (with live and studio collaborations with over 150 international artists) has been released by more than 300 record labels worldwide. He has been awarded four times with honorary mentions at the competition of Ars Electronica Festival and is the recipient of the Qwartz Award 2010 for best sound anthology... Since 1999 Valentina Lacmanovic has researched dances from different cultures through their ritual, folk, classic, and contemporary aspects. From 2001 onwards, her work has been focused on the creation of dance-theater and multimedia performances where Eastern and Western worlds meet. She has worked intensively on creating performances inspired by dances of trance and collaborates with artists from various disciplines. Profound research into dances of trance and ritual versus performing spaces since 2003 gave new direction to her work as an art director and performer. Her investigations into whirling dance led to insights into its origins and practice extending beyond Sufi meditation that supply an inexhaustible source of artistic inspiration and contemporary creativity, ultimately resulting in the project Shedervish, which marked an important change in her artistic development... "With/In" features one long track created by Francisco Lopez with original sound matter recorded from body, clothes and immediate surrounding space during ritual whirling by Valentina Lacmanovic. As subtle as the almost invisible image that appears on the back cover, this work translate the dancer's breath and movements into music. One of the most interesting concepts in Lopez later works and surely one of the best entries in his ever-growing discography. [press-release]

MANTRA, MICHAEL -- "F/C" -- LP -- €15
2013 13, issue #2, (ltd. 250)
Ambient. Michael Mantra creates Ambient music. But more than that, he creates audio tools for "brain hemisphere synchronization": going beyond the synchronization of mind and body, Mantra's techniques are a mean to release endorphins, which are part of the human body's natural pharmacy and work at the same level of opiates. Michael creates his soundscapes mixing modulating high and low harmonic synthesizers tones (low deep drones and high resonating harmonics) with didgeridoo, ocean waves, rain, water, birds and other natural sounds and instruments. Mantra attempts to create sound structures that "induce a meditative state that synchronizes brain wave frequencies" or, more simply put by Mantra himself, create "Brain Hemisphere Harmonic Healing". He has been active since the early 90s and released many full-lenght albums on Silent, Hypnos and Silentes. He has also collaborated with Rod Modell on the seminal "Sonic Continuum" and "Radio Fore", and also with Charlz de la Casa. According to Michael's own words, «"F/C" is an almost minimal atmospheric ambient drone core music but not as minimal as the "A/B" album. With stereo headphones this music is a tool for leveraging a change in states of consciousness and states of feeling. You can use this music as isolationist music. You can use this music in a city to filter out the Industrial Death Drone that consumes the souls of humanity. "F/C" evaporates the Veil of Illusion but with layers and layers of soft noise. If you live in the country you can use this music to trigger a journey to another land within. When I listen to this album I feel I am glad to be alive listening to this music. This album is dedicated to world peace for of all sentient beings...» The 13 "issues" series is a 16-page A4 magazine that includes 13 pages dedicated to graphic or photographic works strictly related to an audio counterpart that comes in the form of a 12" record pressed on virgin white vinyl and housed in a transparent PVC sleeve. MINOY -- "In Search Of Tarkovsky" -- CD -- €10
1986/2020 Cold Spring, CSR273CD
Drone / Noise / Experimental. Minóy (1951-2010), a major figure in DIY noise music, produced some of the most remarkably engrossing, beautiful and imaginative work-of-art albums released on cassette in the 1980's... Created in 1986, "In Search Of Tarkovsky" is dedicated to the late Russian Director Andrei Tarkovsky ("Solaris", "Stalker", "Andrei Rublev" etc). A unique world of musical expression, with dense audio abstractions where the origin of any particular sound isn't quite discernible. A form of labyrinthian, droning collage electronics, otherworldly and dreamlike, at times nightmarish, at times sad, but always bold and deeply affecting... Composed after the director's death, it contains many trademarks of Minóy's style: manipulation of shortwave radio, use of spring reverb to get those strangely echoing, claustrophobic environments, and then the howling vocals, piling-up and distorting. Minóy plainly mourns the director's death but in such a unique way there is nothing to compare it to. Two long-form, elaborate pieces (just under 1 hour), essential to Minóy's aesthetic of "cinema of the ear"... This is the first Minóy material ever to be reissued. Unavailable since the original cassette release, these tracks have been remastered from the original archive files and are presented for the first time on CD in a matt-laminate digipak. [label info]

QOD -- "Absequence" -- CD -- €5
2017 ilentes Minimal Editions, sme 1765
"Absequence" is the debut album of a new project called "qod", which showcases the collaboration between Moreno Padoan (MP, Artcore Machine, Otur Boyd) and Andrea Bellucci (Red Sector A, Subterranean Source, Vetropaco, Nerva, Dioide). In "Absequence", Padoan's devastating Rhythmic-Noise meets, merges and blends with Bellucci's polished IDM-Techno Ambient, giving life to nine tracks of pure electronic delirium. The album's target is to explore the possibilities offered by the meeting of two well-defined characters, who search for a communal code of expression, largely represented by intricate rhythmic textures and very refined and elaborate sounds. An extremely dangerous experience! [label info]

RUPPERT, FREDDY -- "Wait" -- C-20 -- €6
2012 NNA Tapes, NNA047
Experimental / Dark Ambient. Deviating stylistically from his previous work with FORMER GHOSTS and THIS SONG IS A MESS AND SO AM I, Los Angeles-based musician Freddy Ruppert has constructed a forboding collage of churning industrial soundscapes. "Wait" is a highly personal collection of deliberately anti-climactic processed acoustics, from glassy piano fragments to deep, rumbling bells. While remaining bestial and dark, the sounds on "Wait" retain an emotionally complex and organic energy; a calculated exercise in tension and restraint, existing intimately in a place of no resolution. 2005/2020 Agfa Archive, AGFA 01, (ltd. 50)
Martial Industrial / Sound Collage. A romantic blend of martial, harsh electronics and right-wing aesthetics, classics, ragged noise, whistles, marches, snatches of speeches. Thunderous stretching layers of sound, fragments of the past, overloaded memories, dark calling depths, pulsating air of a dream. Even deeper, more hidden. Ambiguity. Through the fusion of Martial industrial and Dark ambient, the task is to understand the inexplicable. The presence of the secret of a common European myth through a concrete slice of history... Reissue of the first RYR album, originally released in 2005 by the labels NEUROPA / VERDIKT88. New design and premium presentation for the 15th anniversary of the album: mini-artbook with 6-page booklet, 2 postcards (one artificially aged), sticker. [label info]

SPHERIC -- "Music For Laboratories" -- CD -- €10
2020 St.An.Da., 1914, (ltd. 200)
Ambient / Experimental. Music For Laboratories is a project by Orlando Lostumbo - a Roman double bass player and composer - who, for this work, has chosen the moniker of SPHERIC. For the realization of "Music For Laboratories", the artist has been inspired by his working environment, a research institute - the Istituto Superiore di Sanitá - where, for over thirty years, he has been working as an employee at the internal library, one of the most important in the biomedical field in Italy. The ongoing contact with scientists and researchers has given the artist the idea to create a sort of Ambient music for laboratories, looking for a line of continuity with the concept of "Music for Environments", born from the mind of the great musician Brian Eno, who created the masterpiece "Music For Airports" in 1978... In this work Lostumbo uses electronic sounds, piano and - in some tracks - the double bass, deconstructing, superimposing and displacing the electronic and acoustic sounds, creating effects that lead to continuous processes of sound transformation within a 'circular' and 'mantric' music. His aim, through the use of overlapping loops, is to highlight the repetitiveness and circularity of the mechanisms of life but also, thanks to the manipulation of the original sounds, the destruction and deconstruction of matter that leads to a new birth. Everything in nature and life is formed and transformed, and this concept is expressed musically by the artist in this record that deals with topics such as DNA replication, spiral waves, diffraction, bacterial reproduction, etc. [label info]

SPK -- "Zamia Lehmanni (Songs Of Byzantine Flowers)" -- CD -- €10
1986/2019 Cold Spring Records, CSR274CD
Neoclassical / Industrial. Originally released by Side Effects in 1986, “Zamia Lehmanni” was the third (and final) core SPK album and was Graeme Revell’s first truly solo project. He was in a period of transition, somewhere between the industrial noise of the early years and his later award-winning soundtrack work. On the day before this was first released, this style of music, now ubiquitous (especially in soundtracks), did not exist... After “Information Overload Unit” cleared a space for subsequent explorations, and the environmental percussion and anchored mutilated sound collages of “Leichenschrei”, the “body without organs” was fully eviscerated, Graeme felt ‘industrial music’ was becoming ossified and needed to be taken into radically new territories: ‘post-industrial’... The track “In Flagrante Delicto” (mastered as originally intended here) was later used by Revell for his work on the soundtrack for the 1989 film “Dead Calm”, which won him Best Original Score from the Australian Film Institute... Unavailable in any format since Mute’s 1992 CD edition, we now present this landmark album on newly remastered CD, and on vinyl for the first time since 1986. Approved by Graeme Revell, this release comes with new artwork by Abby Helasdottir and is remastered by Martin Bowes (The Cage). [label info]

TEMPLEBEAT -- "The Grey Space" -- CD -- €5
2010 Silentes Minimal Editions, sme 1035
Electro / Industrial. Templebeat was an Italian electro/industrial group related to Thee Temple ov Psychic Youth and its Italian branch T.O.P.Y.TV. Templebeat released a number of eps and tapes in the early 1990's. This album gathers tracks from their tapes "Interzone", "Treviso Underground" and "V.I.T.R.I.O.L. #3", remastered as usual. Includes a cover of DAF's "Der Mussolini". Musically, this is more in line with say Clock DVA than Psychic TV, also more or less reminiscent of the band's more famous country mates Pankow and Limbo. This is a radical departure from the Silentes label catalogue that mostly focuses on lush ambient soundscapes. Nevertheless a historical release! [Some Place Else]

TREPANERINGSRITUALEN -- "Algir; eller Algir i Merkstave" -- CD -- €10
2019 Cold Spring, CSR275CD
Ritual Ambient / Dark Ambient. Trepaneringsritualen return to Cold Spring with an album-long ritual working entitled "Algir; eller Algir i Merkstave". On this record — constructed from a series of rituals designated to guide the last ceasing of T × R × P's sister, it manifests in its most obscure form. Sonically minimal yet devastating in emotional impact, this working lets the listener grasp the last vestiges of Nifl and Múspell, and with them as weapon and beacon traverse the Night. The album reveals a barren landscape where crooked paths lead onward, through soot black veils to a point of radiant light where all that is is Union & Dissolution. [label info]

TROUM -- "Acouasme" -- CD -- €10
2015 Cold Spring, CSR213CD
After the much praised collaboration with RAISON D’ETRE released summer 2015 (“De Aeris In Sublunaria Influxu”) and the final volume of the ‘Power Romantic’ trilogy with “Mare Morphosis” in late 2013, “Acouasme” is the first full length album from TROUM in over 2 years. With this album, TROUM wanted to go in a completely different direction, creating a ‘harsher’ and more ‘Industrial’ sounding album as a contrast to previous releases. But through the trademark troumatic machining, the final result doesn’t sound at all like standard harsh noise – it’s rather industrial noise as if filtered through a feverish dream, through a deranged perception. The six long tracks of pestering transrational drones on “Acouasme” sound like an aural psychiatric symptom, a humming hallucination leaving the stable reality. [press-release]

A collection of rare / deleted tracks from compilations Vol. II (1999-2002). TWIST OF FATE -- "September Winds" -- CD -- €5
2016 Oltrelanebbiailmare, CD201618
Acoustic / Neofolk. TWIST OF FATE is the side project of Giuseppe Verticchio (aka NIMH) with the collaboration of Daniela Gherardi. If NIMH represents the most adventurous and droning post-industrial facet of his instrumental explorations, TWIST OF FATE follows more melodious and dreamily introspective folk ambient waves. The project was born recently and formalized as a duet with a first album ("Tales From a Parallel Universe") published on GS Productions in 2014. Welcomed by Oltrelanebbiailmare this album is a logical progression from the first release. "September Winds" puts the emphasis on semi-experimental and intimate guitar compositions, with some violin lines and discreet treatments. Those shoegazing bucolic pieces will guide the listener in a land of nostalgic revisitations. [label info]

VETROPACO -- "Subvoid" -- CD -- €5
2017 St.An.Da., 1702, (ltd. 240)
IDM / Experimental. On "Vetropaco"'s second album, we see once again Gianluca Favaron (Zbeen, Ab'SHE, etc.) and Andrea Bellucci (Red Sector A, Nerva, Dioide, etc.) joining their forces. The target of this new work is to further expand the concepts and themes touched upon in the first album, making this collaboration as homogeneous as possible. In "Subvoid", Favaron's sounds act like the main binding force on all the tracks and appear to be more in the foreground compared to the previous album. The project is enriched by new solutions where digital and analogue sounds melt together, searching for a form of expression that is both pleasant and engaging, and never taken for granted. Rhythm tracks take shape from Favaron's palette, whose sounds are bended and elaborated exactly to form a unique blend with Bellucci's textures, where they get lost and come to light again. WE PROMISE TO BETRAY -- "Nothing Is As It Seems" -- CD -- €5
2017 Oltrelanebbiailmare, CD201720
Post Rock / Shoegaze. We Promise To Betray is the collaborative musical project of Giuseppe Verticchio (NIMH, TWIST OF FATE, HALL OF MIRRORS, MARIBOR…) and Davide Del Col (ANTIKATECJON, MOLNIJA AURA, ECHRAN, ORNAMENT…). Quite far from their more usual dark-ambient/industrial perspectives, We Promise To Betray flow through ambient atmospheres, shoegaze echoes, nearly rock progressions, inner and crepuscular suggestions, mixing field recordings, ethereal synthetic textures, acoustic arpeggiated or dilated and reverberated electric guitars, bass and drums hypnotic rhythmic sections and leading distorted electric riffs, redefining the lines between apparently distant music genres, but homogeneous for mood, climate, atmosphere. VARIOUS ARTISTS -- "Ivan The Terrible" -- 2 CD -- €15
2015 Ufa Muzak, UFA 70 / Anenerbe Music Club, (ltd. 300)
Bombastic martial / Strange Neofolk / Weird electronic / Obscure ambient. Ufa Muzak in cooperation with Anenerbe Music Club presents to all fans of epic, conceptual and electronic music this 2-CD album with a collection of tracks from bands from all around the world, dedicated to the film by Sergey Eisenstein "Ivan The Terrible" (1945-1958). Over 100 minutes of the most varied and interesting sonic palette present the contemporary soundtrack to the motion picture which is a milestone in historical cinema. Big and complex work which was never entirely finished (being shot during the World War II, 2nd part released many years after the first one, 3rd part remained only in screenplay, preliminary sketches and notes), containing mystical prophetic motives of the tragic role of the country at the crossroads of world history, offering most violent physical and moral ordeals. The very image of Ivan IV The Terrible, ruling Russia during 50 years in uneasy times, is very ambiguous and open for research, and at the same time it is a historical symbol of those times, inspiring not only science workers, but also artists to create works in honour of his name. Having this monumental picture created by the genious director, now the musicians make no less painstaking work to express the breath of those dark times, soaked in dissension, wars, tyranny, oprichnina and constant civil strifes. If you care about the history of Russia, history of cinema and its masterpieces, actual and thoughtful Industrial / Neo-Folk scene, be sure this album will bring a lot of pleasant surprises. The Word and the Deed. NOISES OF RUSSIA, AIN SOPH, L'EFFET C'EST MOI, TEATRO SATANICO, SCHRK, TSIDMZ, ZLYDOTA, LONSAI MAIKOV, PARZIVAL, DER ARBEITER, VIR', MOON FAR AWAY, NECROPHONIX, REL', BARBAROSSA UMTRUNK, NEVOD, ANENERBE MUSIC CLUB, SPECTRE.
