Guitar Drone. ACCASARI is a musical project from Moscow, Russia performing guitar ambient drone. It has over fifty releases in its arsenal. It was formed in 2007 under the name SYSTEM MORGUE. Since 2018, it began to bear the name ACCASARI which was previously used in the albums of Raya and Mare Fungus. The musician is constantly experimenting, adding more and more details to the palette of signature sound. In his albums, you can hear calm, brooding dark ambient and hard guitar drone. Noise / Black Metal. You can find the darkness of the Middle Ages, vampires and ghouls, cemeteries, demons, inquisition bonfires and all possible and impossible manifestations of evil and obscurantism in the work of COPROHAMMER. The musician at the beginning creates a characteristic catchy melodic line, subsequently processing it with distorting sound effects. Some tracks have vocals. In general, the compositions sound damp, dirty and harsh just what you need for real black metal with a noise element. Ritual / Industrial. Jagath is a ritual/industrial ambient act from Perm, Russia. "We create our music at abandoned industrial locations - the bottom of a moist underground sewer shaft and inside huge hollow oil tanks - without using digital synthesis. We use simple, mostly hand-crafted instruments, found objects and our voices. We do this to share our vision of decaying post-industrial age, to unleash the spirit of deep beyond-world and unveil life in the abyss. It is cold out here, in Russia, everything stays frozen for decades. Life is almost stopped, and this cannot be changed. So we have to do something so as not to freeze to death... Drone / Ambient. Hypnos is pleased to reissue this classic ambient album first released by the Stella Maris label. Nebulæ (previously known as "Nebula") is an European ambient supergroup of sorts, featuring OOPHOI, TAU CETI, MATHIAS GRASSOW, KLAUS WIESE, LORENZO PIEROBON, LUNA, and MAURO MALGRANDE. This is a beautiful, ethereal and abstract ambient recording, which certainly deserved greater attention than it received prior to the demise of Stella Maris, which existed only long enough to release two Nebula albums. That first release was a limited edition CDR but our reissue is a professionally manufactured CD in a beautiful digipak with new graphics... The Path of White Clouds explores a serene and otherworldly soundspace. Meditative and gentle, these six tracks are sure to appeal to listeners who enjoy the more spacious ambient works released by OOPHOI during the height of his Umbra and Penumra sister labels. The sound sources utilized here lean more toward the organic and physical instruments, and electronic processing and synthesizers are used subtly to accentuate the rest... In the years since this album was released, OOPHOI has grown from just another new practitioner of ambient music to a recording artist as respected and well-loved as any other. We at Hypnos have released other OOPHOI works such as Athlit, and his collaboration with Paul Vnuk Jr. (of Ma Ja Le), Distance to Zero. We also have an upcoming release The Martian Chronicles by OOPHOI with Seren Ffordd. Usually we focus on releasing new projects, but sometimes a significant early work becomes completely unavailable. Neoclassical / Dark Ambient / Field Recordings. Belgian composer Marc Neys, also known as No One, collaborated with Janet Lees, English photographer, visual artist and writer, to create soundtracks to some short films based on manipulated pictures. The toolkit used is rather rich – field recordings and instruments, strange sounds and beautiful atmospheres. These soundtracks unite in a beautiful album named “The secret Language of Light” – great Drone Ambient journey through foggy mountains and hazy shores under clear pastel skies, calm and cirrus. NOTCHNOI PROSPEKT -- "Democracy and Discipline" -- CD -- €10

New Wave / Experimental. "Democracy and Discipline" is a reissue of the Notchnoi Prospekt album, originally self-released on cassette in 1987. Notchnoi Prospekt was formed in 1985 by Alexei Borisov and Ivan Sokolovsky, both of whom came from an academic field. The band worked in a wide range of styles - from dance synth-pop to post-punk and industrial, becoming one of the most advanced projects of the Soviet underground. In 1987 the band was joined by drummer Sergei Pavlov and by violinist, keyboardist and vocalist Dmitry Kutergin. From that moment Notchnoi Prospekt completely immersed themselves in industrial electronics combined with psychedelia, noise, free improvisation and absurdism. At first, the audience reacted coldly to such experimental music, preferring earlier material of the mid-80s. However, by the end of the decade the situation changed, which allowed the band to tour and perform at various rock and art festivals throughout the USSR, and even to go abroad. In 1989 Sokolovsky left the band, taking up a solo career. For several years Notchnoi Prospekt performed and recorded with bassist and keyboardist Alexei Soloviev and guitarist Steve Lothian. Later, in the mid-90s, it became a purely laboratory project, in which various musicians experimented with Alexei Borisov. In 2000 Borisov, Sokolovsky and Kutergin renewed the band as a trio, which was periodically joined by Sergei Pavlov, as well as saxophonist Sergei Letov and guitarist Petr Sokolovsky. The band performed concerts and reissued old material, but in May 2005 Ivan Sokolovsky suddenly passed away. Despite the terrible loss the band continued to actively perform and periodically record albums. After a long break, in 2017, the label Frozen Light released the new album "Polyurythane" - the first Notchnoi Prospekt studio album since 1993, the style of which is balanced between new wave, industrial and art-core. In 2019 the Moscow label Gost Zvuk reissued the 1987 instrumental work "Health Resorts Of The Caucasus" as a double vinyl album. And now, in 2020, the time has come for "Democracy and Discipline"... The album "Democracy and Discipline" was recorded and mixed by Alexei Borisov and Ivan Sokolovsky in 1987 in Moscow at the mobile studio of underground producer and sound engineer Igor Vasiliev. The CD reissue is supplemented with two bonus tracks recorded live during the Notchnoi Prospekt anniversary concert at the Rus' club (Secession), 30.01.2004, Vienna, Austria. [label info]

Musique Concrète / Experimental. "Sound is a physical phenomenon representing the propagation of mechanical vibrations in the form of elastic waves in a solid, liquid or gaseous medium. In the narrow sense, sound means these vibrations, considered in connection with how they are perceived by the senses." With the help of a camera, a mobile phone and a small synthesizer the PAAR project from Kiev, Ukraine recorded its debut album of the same name. The album contains four compositions with an average length of 13 minutes. What do the authors themselves say about their work? “We tried to create an atmosphere of artificiality, not naturalness of what was happening. Indeed, in fact, we are playing out a representation from the visual sound series, the cause and effect of which we ourselves are. Sound is us. These are the senses capable of perceiving it. If we consider sound as a physical phenomenon, then it does not exist at rest. Just as we cease to exist at rest. We compare the nature of sound – silence with our nature of emptiness. The second studio album of a cheerful orchestra of intellectually versed insane people from St. Petersburg who are part of the creative association UTROVORTU is an absurd art-rock based on more or less everything in the world. A bizarre, multi-layered action unfolds here (there are as many as thirteen participants in the recording according to the booklet), deliberately covering up tracks; it seems that PIGEONS & THE INSANE PORRIGEMAKERS haven't yet met an idea that they wouldn't like to push into a song. Ethnic motives, throat singing, circus music, bongos with accordion and pipes, forest reggae - it seems easier to imagine what is not in the horribly rich music of the group than vice versa. As a result, I want to talk about them with some impossible thought constructs - "it's like the late Mr. Bungle meets late Auktsyon" or "as if Megapolis recorded the music for a movie about Monty Python on a tropical cruise." However, "Pigeons" are better than such undercooked comparisons, especially when they become a little darker and more frightening, as in sweeping epics like "Sobakevitch" and "Buterbrod". [S. At the last meeting with the bizarre St. Petersburg art-rock team of Pigeons and The Insane Porrigemakers, I had a chance to note that basement gloom suits them especially well, and here you are - the new album "Guide Worms", which sounds entirely like a broadcast from a psychedelic Tim Burton fairytale dungeon where the hell of a thing happens. On "Guide Worms" (in the world of this record, such characters really do not interfere) Pigeons and The Insane Porrigemakers play mainly at a pace of a melancholy swinging funeral orchestra, and thanks to this, you slowly and ticklishly sink into the album (like Robert Smith in a bed in an old The Cure video "Lullaby") to the sounds of aloof singing voices and tragically soloing brass. There is a certain thematic wholeness in "Guide Worms": this is not an album, but such a hefty chunk of damp earth with all the diversity of flora and fauna that lives in it - swarming insects, mouse holes, paths along the roots. A.T.M.O.M. (At The Moment Of Madness) was founded by Taras Voloschuk in 2009, and has released many works on such web labels as GV Sound and DNA Production including a couple of collaborations with Bardoseneticcube. Experts of the Russian experimental scene might also know his other projects Toxi-X (harsh noise), Nano Synthetic (rhythmic noise) and Fractal Flints (noisecore). Taras is also the organiser of a series of festivals called Noise Pollution, featuring many acts of the Russian noise underground. However he is not only into noise music, and the A.T.M.O.M. project shows the more atmospheric side of his versatile talent. "Andromeda" starts with tranquil and quite canonical space ambient. Unobtrusive contemplative melodies and flashes of electronic signals gradually turn into dense layers of synthesizer drones, enwrapping in a dark sonic abyss like the irresistible force of gravitation. And this hypnotic minimalism of airless space outlined by mild noisy spirals finally transforms into rhythmical dashes and sketches bringing us back to the near-Earth orbit. A couple of tracks were recorded together with Glasberg and O.N.E. projects, mastering done by the sonic magician Kshatriy (kshatriy.pro). The physical release is made on quality pro-CDRs in an edition of 77 copies in a sleeve of designer cardboard.

The reissue of a long-forgotten classic MAEROR TRI album with stunning new artwork and newly remastered sound. Back in 1997, it turned out to be the last album by this experimental trio of German droners composed of Stefan 'Baraka[h]' Knappe, Martin 'GLIT[s]CH' Gitschel and Helge Siehl. The former two later formed TROUM (Zoharum releases: "Autopoiesis / Nahtscato" and "Seeing-Ear Gods" (A Continuous Journey in Six Parts) and the latter 1000SCHOEN. During their nine-year existence, they recorded a handful of albums and cassettes with their unique mixture of minimalism, industrial, ambient and drone, exploring the brains of potential listeners. "Emotional Engramm" is MAEROR TRI 's most refined effort to date. After years of experimenting, the group came to a characteristic sound composed of layers of electrically/electronically-treated acoustic instruments. Their organic sound achieved the most accessible form on "Emotional Engramm";. Clocking in at just under 80 minutes, the seven tracks presented here show Maeror Tri at its best. "Stille!" opens the new chapter in the history of Majdank Waltz. The outlines of terra incognita have appeared earlier on the album "Tenebrae" recorded in collaboration with Sal Solaris, where the classical neofolk form was changed to disturbing noisy fusion. "Stille!" moves even further, away from the utilized territories. At first glance everything is deceptively semi-familiar, but nothing is predictable. It's not possible to predict neither the curve of melody, nor the neighbourhood of a violin and a deaf wall of guitar rasp. And also, the most important here are not the sounds, but - as the title says - the gleams of silence between them, which speak much more than music. "Stille!" is a walk in a garden of ruins, where around every bend hides someone's forgotten dream, "a grief at the bottom". Melodie Des Vergessens was formed by Igor 'The Ghost' Tumanni in 2012 in Volgograd, Russia, and the idea of the project was based on the processed sound of a live accordion. With this instrument Igor recorded several experimental dark ambient albums notable for particular surrealistic sound and detached atmosphere of loneliness. The project ceased its existence in January 2017 with the death of the author... The accordion is not the most convenient instrument to carry but Igor recorded the material for this work in summer 2015 alone with nature, in thickets of forests and swamps, while later working on it in his mobile studio. This resulted in six dissociative dark ambient compositions in which abstract textures morph into harmonic consonances, get overgrown by viscous layers of electronic processings and turn into rhythmic patterns created from looped acoustic noises. Often one can hear the characteristic timbre of the instrument, but sometimes it transforms into something chemically otherworldly as if coming from another dimension. Here one can feel the subtle personal moments when one's left alone with himself, surrounded by dark woods and looking in the abysmal mirror of infinity... The recording was originally published in 2016 as a web-release by Eternal Return Records, but for this reissue the author considered making new mastering to fully reveal all the details of sound. Mastering was done by Ralax @ Coiled Ear Studio. This edition is made on quality pro-CDRs, packed in designer cardboard sleeves and limited to 77 numbered copies. The recordings on the CD were edited from the live performance on 'The Night of the Museum' on 28th of November 2013 at the Museum of Fine Arts in Ghent, Belgium. The soundscapes are inspired on the surroundings of a forest and the merging senses due to synesthesia. In the museum was on that moment also an exhibition of the painter Ciurlionis. He was known to have synesthesia. The music was played in the half circled central hall room between beautiful sculptures and columns. The sounds were enhanced by the video work displayed by Niek Cornil, who perfectly translate the music into images... The two form since then a strong duo where Music For Installations performs and where Niek mixes video live next to the artist. In this session, he played also two tracks from the musical project Haukijärvi. Music and soundscapes from this project were created on location in Finland, while residing there during one month at Arteles. Pieter has been active on the electronical front for over ten years now and impressed before with his LOUNASAN project. Vast sonic explorations with synths, flutes, stones and shells, ranging from subtle and mysterious atmospheres to highly dynamic passages, describe this out of reach underworld. The last part of the long suite "The chamber of eternity" features the unique sound of the tibetan singing bowls of Klaus Wiese. Drone / Ambient. Hypnos has been much quieter these past couple of years, but when they do release a CD the quality remains quite high. The signature minimal ambient sound of the label is evident on Distance to Zero. Low drones pulse in and out to begin. Some dissonant elements are laid over the top for an eerie effect. The way the music breathes slowly in and out reminds me of another Hypnos release, Tom Heasley’s Where the Earth Meets the Sky. Ambient in the truest sense, this music floats about restlessly, aimlessly, with no hint of rhythm or melody. Abstract sounds are used to their full potential in the subtlest of ways. The sounds become rough and gritty as it flows from the first to the second movement, which rings out with resonant metallic sounds, seeming to reverberate forever. The sounds become darker and more intense. As the disc makes its way from part two to part four (part three apparently didn’t make the cut), the long slow fade of one moves right into a deep bass tone. At normal volume it isn’t all that extraordinary, but I had turned it up to hear the subtleties in the quieter part, and found my stomach in my throat for just a moment there at the transition point. Easily the brightest of the three sections, gentle bells feature prominently here, along with those aforementioned low muffled booming sounds. It is not uncommon for minimal ambient works to include a long slow fade, and this one is exceptional in its patient denouement. Distance to Zero is first-rate adventurous ambience. Ambient / Berlin School. There are times when just by listening to the first few notes you instantly know that you are in for a treat. I do not know how is does, but it works for me every time. I hope this is also true for you as the opening track entitled Tradition is a magnificent slice of electronic music. Surely there is no way that this standard can be maintained. The following track features gentle ambiences and moody bass notes that are carefully assembled into a haunting main theme composed using lots of differing sounds and sequences that continues to maintain the fascination. I think that Delight certainly lives up to its title and on reflection is even better than the opener. Area starts as being very low-fi with muffled sequences that are almost on the point of annoyance but slowly the quality appears to improve and rich Tangerine Dream style sequences emerge that are bound to please many. Technical quality is restored on the following track that again provides classic melodic electronic ambiences that persuade the mind to relinquish the mental pressure and all anguish is banished. Relaxation is the only thought to be encouraged when listening and thoroughly enjoying Renovation. This excellent release finishes in true ambient style with the appropriately titled Restplace, which describes the evocative piece precisely. Dennis Knopper has a major flair, which thankfully he shares with those who choose to listen to this truly exquisite music. [Modern Dance]
