CDs & CD-Rs

BAJA GUARIENTI, CARLO -- "Argo 1943" -- CD -- €10
2016 Eibon Records, Gua095
Soundtrack composed by Carlo Baja Guarienti (ALBIREON) for a theatrical play of Sartre's "Le mosche" (The flies). Somewhere between ambient, Morricone's most visionary soundscapes and classical music, with some ROSA CRVX-like distorted guitars here and there to unsettle and scramble things up. Does require an open-mided approach and rewards with a very dense hour of meaningful, good music. [label info]

THE BLUE PROJECT -- "Shelter" -- CD -- €12
2018 Eibon Records, TBP103
Ambient / Ethereal. New album from TBP, currently travelling through noisier paths than the ones they used to walk before. Maria Cristina's voice paints gentle melodies upon unsettling decostructed sonic backgrounds that owe something to both the most experimental DEAD CAN DANCE and the most courageous heavenly voices standards. For the brave and open-minded listeners only. [label info]

BOW GAMELAN ENSEMBLE -- "Great Noises That Fill The Air" -- CD -- €10
1988/2018 Cold Spring, CSR264CD
Since 1983, Bow Gamelan Ensemble have inspired generations of artists with their radical practices and explosive performances. Charged with their individual virtuosity in performance art, avant-garde music and kinetic sculpture, their sound installations and performances are immersed in an orchestra of instruments made from scrap metal, electric motors, river barges and domestic objects including glass sheets, light bulbs and fireworks. A dissonance between 'noise' and 'meaningful utterance’ that will astonish the ears and ravish the imagination with unearthly magic... Guests: Z'EV, Nicola Kate Heys, Thames Steam Launch Co., Eel Pie Marine... 30th anniversary reissue of the sought-after LP from 1988, on CD for the first time. Mastered by Denis Blackham (Skye Mastering). Digipak. [label info]

CANAAN -- "Il Giorno Dei Campanelli" -- CD -- €12
2016 Eibon Records, CAN098
Darkwave. The stronger the spiritual pain, the worse the physical damage. Suppurating plagues can be carved and cleansed: spiritual wounds are impossible to sterilize. Mental germs grow, mutate, infect, colonize and suppress the once healthy host. "Il giorno dei campanelli", CANAAN's eight album, is a diary of mental putrefaction. No antibiotic can work here: these 14 songs will leave no soul unharmed. [label info]

CHURCH OF HOWLING DOG -- "Ummu Hubur" -- CD -- €10
2019 Evil Dead Productions, EDP 022
Stoner Rock / Psychedelic Rock. Second full-length album of the Russian project CHURCH OF HOWLING DOG created by Andrey Kein, also known for SOL MORTUUS, CARVED IMAGE OF EMPTINESS, CHAOTIC BOUND SYSTEMS and several other bands. From the musical point of view, "Ummu Hubur" continues to walk along the path started on "Umbra" (2016) – a desert dirt road with sunburnt grass and dusty roots and bones lying around. However here is a significant difference from the previous work: the unhurried contemplative electric guitar chords in several tracks are accompanied by the clear voiсe of Gregory Shobolov who recited his philosophical text in Russian langiage, perfectly complementing the overall sonic picture. Piano, percussion, cello, organ, synthesizer and effects also play their role in creating the arrangements. Beautiful soundtrack for immersion in the freedom of Chaos.

CONTEMPLATRON -- "Ma Mo" -- CD -- €12
2018 Wrotycz Records, WRT 031
Ritual / Dark Ambient. On the fourth album of his indo-tibetan series Contemplatron uncovers from their ashes the world of the charnel grounds, cemeteries and demonic or saint beings who lived there. The Tibetan word 'mamo' is a non-literal translation of the Sanskrit word ‘matri’. In India matris, literally ‘mothers’, are female indigenous spirit-deities of the natural world. They are benevolent or malevolent - thus they can be potentially dangerous to humans and other beings. The matris are intimately associated with fertility and sickness, life and death. The main medium of communication, invocation, appeasement or protection against them is the mantra... Over one hour of tribal dark ambient served in luxurious digipack. Mastered by Peter Andersson. HALL OF MIRRORS -- "When Only Shades Remain" -- CD -- €12
2018 Eibon Records, HOM104
Dark Ambient. Andrea Marutti (Amon / Never known among others....) and Giuseppe Verticchio (Nimh) have teamed up again for this new Hall of Mirrors monumental release. Textural, noisy, profound dark ambient with some pretty "melodic" patterns hidden behind layered noises and evolving drones. Astonishing, to say the least. [label info]

MAATH -- "Darkness, Void and Silence" -- CD -- €12
2017 Eibon Records, MAA099

MELANCHOHOLICS -- "Solar Cafe" -- CD -- €12
2014 Eibon Records, MEL092
Dark Ambient / Post Rock / Drone. By combining found noises and field-recorded nature with minimal/fragile post-rock-guitars, drones and fuzzy low-end bass-lines, Melanchoholics create mad extensive soundscapes and almost cinematic soundtracks to psychotic euphoria and intoxicated wastelands. After releasing on Drone Records, MNDR and Deafborn, Eibon Records proudly presents their final low-end manifesto for low-end connoisseurs. On Solar Café, Melanchoholics once again have set their attention directly to the lurid sides of human personalities: desperate internal fears and simplistic structures and melodies fleshed out well with subtle textures and voices. The feeling is one of lamentation and dreariness as the sounds trudge along. Yet there is a warmth and smokiness to it as well. There is a colourful darkness before that day comes... the moment to celebrate the return of sunlight. Comes in matte-varnished digisleeve. [label info]

MILLIONS OF DEAD TOURISTS -- "s/t" -- CD -- €10
2017 1000+1 TiLt, (ltd. 110)
Experimental / Techno. You may remember P.S. Stamps Back? The project of Iason working the electronics to create a more dance oriented beat, with ‘Half Life’ (reviewed in Vital Weekly 1028) being a highlight so far. Here he teams up with two bass players, Sotiris and Yiannis (all of them come from circles in which last names don’t matter; ‘copies have no rights’ it says on the cover as a tell-all), who are a member of hardcore/grind band Ksera. They formed an alliance under the guise of Millions Of Dead Tourists in April 2016 and apart from two bass guitars, the other equipment is played by Iason, and that includes ‘audiomulch, nanozwerg, erebus synths, pedal effects and sequencer’. The five pieces on this self-titled CDR were recorded from May to September 2016. I had no idea what to expect really, and I was thinking something along the lines of Millions Of Dead Cops. That it is not. To me, but I’m sure this trio will see things entirely differently; Iason is the man who leads the troupe. There is quite a lot of sequencers and synthesizer sound to be noted in this music, and perhaps not a lot of bass guitar. It has not much to do with the world of hardcore or grindcore, and all with the alternative leanings of techno music. The bass guitar might very well be going through a bunch of sound effects, making it all light and thin, but it works well within the music. Should one not know this is a trio of musicians playing together, it could as easily pass as a one-man electronic army with a bunch of lo-fi apparatus, producing a wackier form of techno than one usually hears in a sweaty club. I very much enjoyed this crude take on techno, and towards the end, ‘The Day 1.71 Billion People Died And Went To Facebook” (which says probably they aren’t a laughing bunch) they go for some excellent minimalist guitar sound, acid synth, bass sequencer and a fine slow rhythm. I am not sure about the political side of all of this, but the music sounds quite all right. You should see me leaping up and down in the VW HQ. [FdW, Vital Weekly]

MZ.412 -- "Svartmyrkr" -- CD -- €12
2019 Cold Spring, CSR257CD
Swedish behemoths MZ. 412 return with their first full-length album in 13 years, once again asserting their dominion as the true Kings of Black Industrial. "Svartmyrkr" is a massive tour de force that reinvents the classic sound of MZ. 412 whilst retaining their trademark malevolent harshness... This album is dedicated to the true hell of the north - Helheim - and the giant goddess that rules it, Hel. From blackened ritual incantations, to bleak yet beautiful dark ambient arrangements, to harsh bombastic orchestrations, this album exceeds all expectations... MZ. 412 blur the lines between music, magick and reality. The earth trembles... the mountains quake... all light is vanquished. The Swedish overlords darken the hearts and extinguish the souls of all who bear witness to "Svartmyrkr"... CD in 6-panel digipak. [label info]

THE NEW BLOCKADERS -- "Live At Sonic City" -- CD + DVD -- €15
2019 Cold Spring, CSR261CD
Live At Sonic City includes an audio / visual document of TNB's last ever live performance which took place at the Thurston Moore-curated Sonic City festival in Kortrijk, Belgium in 2017... Fans of Noise music will need no introduction to the work of TNB. Ron Lessard, of legendary US Noise label RRRecords, once stated, "I'd give the nod to TNB as being the first truly devoted Noise artists". TNB served as a major influence on legendary Noise pioneers such as Merzbow and their influence on the current crop of popular crossover Noise artists such as Wolf Eyes is immeasurable... TNB's performance at Sonic City can best be described as a noise symphony: metal-bashing and grinding, hammering, eviscerating microphone feedback, torrents of glorious mangle and harsh electronics all skilfully blended with a collage of manifold sounds and dynamics. Far from being a typical Noise show, TNB's performance (if it can be described as such) contained elements of absurdist theatre and performance art, although I’m sure TNB would be loathe to be described as such. A magnificent display of The Art Of Noise, TNB as defiant as ever in their total rejection of everything... "For optimal enjoyment we recommend that this DVD be viewed with no sound"... CD and DVD in 6-panel digipak. [label info]

NO FESTIVAL OF LIGHT -- "Divide Et Impera" -- 2 CD -- €15
2018 Eibon Records, NOF105 / Old Captain, OCCD38, (ltd. 300)
Dark Ambient / Industrial. No Festival of Light is the best kept secret in the annals of dark industrial Swedish tradition. For decades Fredrik Bergström's guilty pleasure lingered at the backyard of the world to sporadically cast a shadow of minimalist ritualism and evaporate in enchanted air again. An unorthodox approach and such deceptively simple music itself stirs all the senses to trigger morbid addiction, affection and unconscious share in blasphemous conspiracy. The 2CD set manifests rhythmic and ambient mind-numbing versatility of the project ranging from the debut "Divide Et Impera" (1994) mixed by Jouni Havukainen / In Slaughter Natives, to cryptic "Tape 1" (1996) originally released by Slaughter Productions, to various arcane compilation tracks featured on labels like Abyss, Slaughter, Thaglasz, Art Concept, to rare unreleased two live sets in Belgium and the USA in 1998/99. "Within the pleasures of the flesh, rests the Salvation of the human spirit". For the lovers of early Cold Meat Industry and Slaughter Productions era, projects like Morthound, Ordo Equilibrio or Kranivm. A 2CD edition in a 4-panel gloss-laminated Digipak in edition of 300 copies. [label info]

ORGHANON -- "Figures In Slow Motion" -- CD -- €10
2015 Eibon Records, ORG093
Ambient / Glitch / Electronics. Sergio Calzoni's talent in chiselling electronics like a master craftsman has already been made very clear in COLLOQUIO's albums. This time he flies alone, and what a flight this is.... ORGHANON's debut album offers a melancholy-filled trip through a congealed world where figures slowly drift in the thick air. Gentle melodies, superbly constructed electronic patterns, experimental passages create vast sonic scenarios that would perfectly fit in a Jim Jarmusch/Alejandro Inarritu's movie. Not only the sheer, marvellous quality of the songs but also a very strong feeling of walking into a brand new, undiscovered sonic territory will leave you breathless. Only a few times in our entire "career" we've been so completely dragged into a record like into "Figures in slow motion". Miss it at your own risk. [label info]

SLOGUN -- "Nothing. Ever." -- CD -- €12
2019 Eibon Records, SLO107 / Old Captain, OCCD44, (ltd. 300)
Power Electronics. "Nothing you do will ever matter. Nothing. Ever." The first full-length release by American True Crime Electronics project Slogun, aka John Balistreri, since "I Will Bury You" in 2013, features eleven new tracks, the last of which is the 12-minute piece "Just For One Day" from his side-project "Self". Continuing his journey inward, "Nothing. Ever." delves deeper into self-hate, disgust and the absolute exhaustion of escaping the foundation of which his life was built on: failure and all of its expectations and realizations. Tracks 1 through 10 offer up Slogun at its truest, spewing truth about self-actualization, manipulation, denial and justification, while track 11 has "Self" finishing everything off with pure defeat. The end of it all. Featuring Slogun's own art and handwriting, "Nothing. Ever." quite possibly closes out a 23-year journey through the depths of one-man's disgust at himself, at the notion of "civility", at victimization and of the human animal. 1996-2019. A regular CD edition in a 6-panel gloss-laminated Digipak in edition of 300 copies. [label info]

SONOLOGYST -- "Silencers (The Conspiracy Theory Dossiers)" -- CD -- €10
2018 Cold Spring, CSR253CD
Eerie drones, oscillations from the ether, distorted dark matter, signals from other dimensions... The music of Sonologyst fluctuates between scientific sonic documentaries and psychedelic abstraction, illuminated by early experimentation of the 50's and 60's, as well as future possibilities of the electronic and electro-acoustic... "Silencers (The Conspiracy Theory Dossiers)" is inspired by the testimonies of those who have had contact with the so-called "Silencers" or "Men in Black". Federal agents? Aliens? International conspirators?... Sonologyst makes a documentary in music, including spy tech, declassified documents, official recordings, control techs, secreted scientific information, CIA Deep Black Programs, NASA classified tapes, Secret societies and breakaway civilization hypotheses... Recommended for those who follow the nebulous paths of Inade, Schloss Tegal, Bad Sector, Lustmord... Presented in a digipak with booklet. [label info]

VIVIANKRIST -- "Morgenrode" -- CD -- €12
2019 Cold Spring, CSR268CD
Japanese Noise / Power Electronics / Electronica. As Vivian Slaughter morphs into Viviankrist, the music also changes from the intense cold desperation and raw nerve brutality of GALLHAMMER into a kaleidoscope of electronic sounds... still brutal and shattering, and still depicting soundscapes that close in on the darker side of the soul... A way to escape the dull pressure of a reality that sometimes seems to slip away into psych wards and chemicals. A reaction towards indifference. A shard of mentality released in wave after wave of fully analogue sounds, sometimes disturbed by digital intrusions... The twilight and dawn of things to come from a renewed Viviankrist... New Wave / Indie Rock. Picking up the sceptre of the cold, sad wave of the '80s, WANDA WULZ explores the territories of italian-sung nostalgic music. Echoes of TENCO, COLLOQUIO, LE MASQUE on top of a personal, sullen, gloomy, at times "jazzy" approach to songwriting. The result? Interesting, very interesting. Features Gianni Pedretti (Colloquio) on "Non ritorna più". Digisleeve + booklet. [label info]

ZENI GEVA & STEVE ALBINI -- "Maximum Implosion" -- 2 CD -- €14
2018 Cold Spring, CSR260CD
Noise Rock / Industrial. MAXIMUM IMPLOSION collects all collaborative (and most sought after) pieces between Zeni Geva (KK NULL) and Steve Albini (BIG BLACK / SHELLAC): "Nai-Ha" and "All Right, You Little Bastards!". Also included are bonus tracks from the ultra-limited 12"-only "Superunit", presented with meticulous Cedar mastering by legendary mastering engineer Denis Blackham... On the first CD, Zeni Geva present ultra-heavy Japanese noise rock, with sludgy riffs, thundering feedback, lumbering drums, subhuman bass crawl, and complex noise textures, with KK Null's trademark vocals / unique guitar accompanied by Albini's heavy guitar. "Nai-Ha" loosely translates to "broken inside", with the title track relaying the gruesome aftermath of a car accident... The second CD captures Zeni Geva and Steve Albini's live-to-desk tracks from Tokyo & Osaka in 1992. Albini also makes vocal appearances, as well as guitar throughout... All production and mixing by Steve Albini. Final mastering by Martin Bowes at Cage Studios in England, and presented here in its complete form for the first time on Cold Spring... Presented in a 6-panel double digipak with original artwork/photo by Mitsushiro Hiruma and design/layout by Alonso Urbanos. [label info]

BLACK FAUN -- "Live 09022018" -- CS -- €7
2018 E.C.T., #12 / Concrete Noise, C.N.03, (ltd. 50)
Noise. Greek duo Black Faun, with a single-sided cassette, which is recorded live on February 9 last year at Sticky Fingers in Patros. According to their bio on Facebook, they use electric and acoustic instruments, toys, loops, sounds and basically anything else that generates sound and thrown together to play collage-like music, although on this particular occasion it is a rather power electronics inspired piece of brutal tones, distortion pedal abuse and mayhem throw out. File under noise. While not necessarily the loudest noise around, they reach towards the certainly for the outer limits of harsh noise walls, yet cleverly they keep it all very well in hand. At thirty-four minutes I would think this is was just long to be entertaining; more I would think would have been too much. [FdW, Vital Weekly]

GRIM MACHINE / H.C.N. -- "Begotten / Metastases" -- C-22 -- €7
2019 E.C.T., #14, (ltd. 50)
Begotten by Grim Machine is a soundtrack libation to the powers of nature against human arrogance and stupidity. The source material comes from a 30-minutes-long live recording of a noise performance / video work, based on the film Begotten (1990) by E. Elias Mehrige, that took place at the 1st edition of KINO-BRUITISM festival in Athens, Greece in January 2018. Grim Machine is a free impro noise entity using sound as a magnetic stick to unearth relations between universal primitivism, coexistence rituals and outsider art impulse... HCN began as a project of sonic and philosophical exploration in the beginnings of 2017 in Athens. Its first public performance took place in January 2018 at the 1st Kino-Bruitism festival... "Metastases" was presented for the first time in the (Kino-Bruitism) Festival, in a version about 25 minutes long. This “studio” version lasts about 08:40 minutes. This track is the result of sound manipulations, affected by the same-titled short film (1984) of Igor Aleinikov (1962–1994)... Released in 50 numbered copies. Comes with 3 inserts in an A5 black cover. [label info]

INNER PARADISE -- "3 Asexual Non-Ritual Melodies" -- C-20 -- €7
2018 S.E.C.T., SECT001, (ltd. 60)
Experimental / Noise. Going to the Bandcamp website of Inner Paradise, I read that they were "formed in Kaski (Nepal) on 2015. Their electronic sounds and noises are mixed of PPN, Post- Industrial and Dark-Mantras with a new interpretation of the Jain mantras by Rsabhadeva and Mahavira. After a dozen concerts and performances in Nepal and India and some trouble with the religious authorities, they moved to Europe", where they recorded this twenty-minute cassette Italy and Greece. I am a bit too sceptical (or is that skeptikal?) to believe everything I read, but maybe it's true. They call their music, or at least, this release, "100% Jain Post-Noise", whatever that might be. The music on this twenty-minute cassette is quite interesting. A fine mixture of radio waves, drones and what could be an accordion, but also something else. The result is eerie, electronic music, quietly disturbing on 'Kalpa Sutra/Harmony', collage-like in 'Little Bit Inside/Conformity' and a combination of both ends, with a bit more loops of spoken word/radio broadcast in 'Kisses And Stop/Integrity'. Quite a bit of variation here, but it sounds all pretty coherent. [FdW, Vital Weekly]

N. -- "Asphyxiating" -- CS -- €7

VOLOK -- "Horovod" -- C-50 -- €7
2018/2019 E.C.T., #13, (ltd. 50)
Drone / Folk. The music sounds like a bunch of Russian monks in a monastery, slowly chanting, along with a low humming synthesizer. The title translates as 'round dance', but there is nothing much to dance too. The chanting, which stayed the same throughout the seven pieces, reminded me of the scene in 'Eyes Wide Shut', where Tom Cruise enters the quasi-religious sex party, but without the same sort of melodic synthesizers. With Volok the synthesizers are as dark and a minimal as the chanting. Even when some of this sounds very similar throughout, there is surely something quite captivating about these pieces. For the duration is was fine enough, not something to be heard all day; that would probably drive me crazy. [FdW, Vital Weekly]

Using acoustic instruments, with some help of friends from Romowe Rikoito and Eirikura as well as guest musicians, he creates a contemplative ambient atmosphere from the intimate realm of his spirit, ideas and experiences. Austras Laiwan’s debut ‘Birds in Shells’ is dedicated to those people special and dearest to him, three birds who left their shells and made their last flaps toward the light in loneliness… Letters writ in water, memories of a fleeting life remained deep in the hearts of those who follow, of those who wait for their turn to be dissolved in eternity. Feathers and bones are scattered on hollow ground, seashells keep sighs of the ocean evaporated long ago… New rivers flow and fill the shores of new seas. A new dawn is coming... Digipack. BOCKSHOLM -- "Caged Inside The Beast Of The Forge" -- CD -- €10
2013 Wrotycz Records, WRT 017
The two drunken bastards from Bocksholm (Peter Andersson of Raison D'etre and Lina Baby Doll of Deutsch Nepal) are finally back with a new album and this time they have unleashed the Beast. Any mythological idea that Boxholm has become a great peaceful Eden is from now on eternally disproved. No one is safe anymore, not even the horror of Kisa. Birath - the Beast of the forge - is back and we are all captives inside his devilish mind, at least for 60 minutes after pressing play. Enjoy with a bottle of moonshine. Digipak. [label info]

COIL -- "Backwards" -- CD -- €10
2015 Cold Spring, CSR203CD
After the ground-breaking release of 1990's "Love's Secret Domain" album, Coil were not dormant; the main project was "Backwards", which was started in 1992, updated considerably between 1993 and 1995, and transferred in 1996 to New Orleans, where it was finished in the magic of the Nothing studios of Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails). The album saw the fruition of Jhonn Balance's recent vocal coaching, producing haunting, passionate vocals, while reaching new heights. 23 years after its initiation, these tracks have been beautifully preserved by Danny Hyde and are finally available in highest quality audio. Differing substantially from the later, remixed incarnation, "The New Backwards" (2008), "Backwards" contains the original versions of Coil's much-loved tracks; 'A Cold Cell' and 'Fire Of The Mind', which have appeared on various compilations over the years, and are now presented as originally intended. This album is the essential bridge between "LSD" and the later "Musick To Play In The Dark" series. It is an essential conduit, to understand the journey that was taken. It was to be released… it should have been released… but because of issues with grey men it wasn't. It is now, so enjoy. (Danny Hyde).

COIL + ZOS KIA + MARC ALMOND -- "How To Destroy Angels" -- CD -- €10
2018 Cold Spring, CSR263CD
COLD SPRING are proud to announce the complete recording of ‘A SLOW FADE TO TOTAL TRANSPARENCY’. Recorded 24th August 1983, at the AIR GALLERY, London, UK. Personnel for the performance – John Balance (Coil), John Gosling (Zos Kia), Marc Almond (Soft Cell) and live mix by Peter Christopherson (Coil, Throbbing Gristle). All audio has been remastered from the original tapes, is previously unreleased, and is EXCLUSIVE to this release. Liner notes by Michel Faber (‘Under The Skin‘, ‘The Crimson Petal And The White‘). 1. “HOW TO DESTROY ANGELS” – the complete 23 minute piece. 2. “HOW TO DESTROY ANGELS – ZOS KIA REMIX” – a 9 minute unheard remix by John Gosling. 3. “BAPTISM OF FIRE” – Unreleased recording of Zos Kia / Coil at Recession Studios, London, England, October 12, 1983. Michel Faber: “Imagine how out-of-step with the dominant culture Coil were when they unveiled themselves in the Air Gallery to perform A Slow Fade To Total Transparency. Subtitled How To Destroy Angels, the music – a backing track prepared by John Balance, John Gosling and Peter Christopherson – bears only scant resemblance to the How To Destroy Angels 12" that Coil would release as their debut vinyl the following year. Instead of the meditative ritual gongs of the 12", what we hear here is a restless, queasy melange of industrial noise, its eerie whistles the perfect backdrop for Marc Almond as he recites a bitter tirade against an ex-lover”. CD edition is presented in a glossy 6-panel digipak. [label info]

FROZEN FACES -- "Broken Sounds of a Dying Culture" -- CD -- €10
1997/2007 Wrotycz Records, WRT 005
"The year is 1996 I was surfing on cold waves through the very heart of Linkopia, night after night it was all the same. Sleeping in the Karmanik basement seduced by delerium echoing between white concretwalls. I could hear the equiptment slowly disintegrating as I put out the light, broken sounds of a dying culture. This might be the erosion of history eternally scraping on the crown of mankind... or was it just the decline of my personal belongings after years of abuse... and was there any diffrence between the two theories? I streched out my limb and pressed the record-button." - Lina Baby Doll. Originally released by Entartete Musikk in 1996 as a limited edition LP. Now available in CD format with totally remastered sound, new artwork and bonus tracks from the Religion of Hate 7" in original extended versions. A must for all the fans of Lina's works who somehow missed the vinyl version! A5 folding cover. [press-release]

1996/2011 Wrotycz Records, WRT 014
Necrophorus is a project of Peter Andersson (Raison D'Etre). “Underneath the Spirit of Tranquility” is a painted story canvas for the otherwise unreachable astral world. Adorned with esoteric ambience, one feels as though embarking on a path of inner ascension while breathing the immaterial tranquilities. This redux version of 'Underneath the Spirit of Tranquility' (originally released 1996) has been carefully re-mixed for enhanced experience and spiced up with two additional tracks. The artwork consists of drawings by Elinros Henriksdotter. 75 mins of music. Comes in a folding outsize cover with 6 card inserts. [label info]

O PARADIS -- "Eon 1999-2015" -- 2 CD -- €14
2016 Wrotycz Records, WRT 026
Two and a half hours of the best moments of Ô Paradis by Demian’s choice – that’s the shortest way to summarize the latest release by this project from Barcelona. Demian picked up 40 songs from a wide Ô Paradis discography generated since 1999. It takes us on the journey through the world of love and solitude, creation and destruction, birth and death. Everything gathered on 2 discs, black and white. Some songs represent important moments in artist’s life, some show his inspirations and musical friendship like the one shared with J. from Nový Svět. You can find here acoustic guitars and electronic loops, movie samples and classic melodies – everything you have ever experienced with Ô Paradis music. And rough, characteristic Demian’s voice of course. Comes in digipack with booklet. [label info]

OLHON -- "Underwater Passage" -- CD -- €10
2008 Eibon Records, Ohl075
Field-recordings maestros OLHON are back with a new stunning album. "Underwater passage" is based upon underwater recordings taken in 2006 by Zairo (WHERE), then treated by Massimo Magrini (of BAD SECTOR fame). These recordings were taken using special sensing microphones attached to an abandoned telephone cable running on the sea bottom at -40 m.; they were then processed with particular demodulating treatments, resulting in a complex and rich ambiental monument. Strange clicks, impulses, a load of movements. Definitely far from the usual concept of dark ambient = low-rumbling drones only, "Underwater passage" shimmers with cutting mid/high frequencies bursts. A very challenging listening, trust me. Cd comes in white-trayed, UV-varnished digipack. [press-release]

SUNSET WINGS -- "Lifetime As A Child At Play" -- CD -- €10
2014 Wrotycz Records, WRT 020
Neofolk. "This album is a look deep inside through a chink in this magical door. It’s an attempt to pass this distant light through the prism of our present, and with that to see again those blazing shapes and transform them into a spectrum of variegated butterflies – letting them be strewn with neo-classical pieces, gentle songs, echoes of children voices – recollected images are nebulous but the colours stay invariably vivid. By plunging into these ethereal sounds it is hoped that you’ll find your own flitting blue moth emerging from your orchard far away from the present here and now..." [Aleks Aulaukis] The fourth album by Sunset Wings "Lifetime as a Child at Play" comes in a 6 panel digipack with beautiful artwork by Alexandra Shvedova.

SUNSET WINGS -- "Shining Thro’ The Veil Of Night" -- CD -- €10
2013 Wrotycz Records, WRT 019
Neofolk. With their third album Sunset Wings follow the line of making the musical setting for the ravishing poetry pearls of bygone ages. This time Night is the lady that covers the entire work with her starry mantle. Old hymns, lullabies and romantic visions shine through the darkness of her eyes... Sounds of cello and violins, guitars, flutes and bells scatter with bright melodies upon the path of Parent Goddess. Raise your head to see the white mares of the moon rushing along the sky, open your ears to hear the ancient drums waking the spirit of Night! The torches burn and Pan leads a procession! Make a step on a bridge across the dream, let the journey starts. Comes in a 6-panel digipack with enchanting artwork by Alexander Vorodeyev. [label info]

TROUM -- "Acouasme" -- CD -- €10
2015 Cold Spring, CSR213CD
After the much praised collaboration with RAISON D’ETRE released summer 2015 (“De Aeris In Sublunaria Influxu”) and the final volume of the ‘Power Romantic’ trilogy with “Mare Morphosis” in late 2013, “Acouasme” is the first full length album from TROUM in over 2 years. With this album, TROUM wanted to go in a completely different direction, creating a ‘harsher’ and more ‘Industrial’ sounding album as a contrast to previous releases. But through the trademark troumatic machining, the final result doesn’t sound at all like standard harsh noise – it’s rather industrial noise as if filtered through a feverish dream, through a deranged perception. The six long tracks of pestering transrational drones on “Acouasme” sound like an aural psychiatric symptom, a humming hallucination leaving the stable reality. [press-release]
