EMPUSAE is a project created by Sal-Ocin who is also a member of various other projects such as THIS MORN' OMINA, TZOLK'IN, PROJECT ARCTIC and also works as a live member of AH CAMA-SOTZ and IN SLAUGHTER NATIVES. Sal-Ocin is always open-minded about working together with other artists, as can be heard on this album: a liaison with Manabu Hiramoto a.k.a. SHINKIRO from Osaka, Japan who collaborated with artists like CONTAGIOUS ORGASM, HYBRYDS and JACK OR JIVE, and who has also made releases under the name KOTODAMA... Organic.Aural.Ornaments is based mostly on track-sources from Manabu supplemented by Sal-Ocin. Both artists' aural characteristics merge perfectly: SHINKIRO's cinematic dark soundscapes with a meditative touch blend with EMPUSAE's haunting ritualistic ambience and enthralling melodies. Varied rhythmic structures ranging from tribal to minimalistic sequences loom out of the vast, lamenting synth sounds - a kaleidoscope of ethereal atmospheres, both enthralling and enchanting... Homotopy To Marie is the fifth album by Nurse With Wound, released in 1982. Although Nurse With Wound had generated considerable interest across their preceding releases, Steven Stapleton has asserted to author David Keenan that Homotopy To Marie should be considered the first "real" NWW album. In Keenan's book England's Hidden Reverse, Stapleton states that this was the first album he made without intervention, the original trio line-up having dispersed in 1980. Although J. G. Thirlwell participated in some of the sessions and is thanked on the album's sleeve, this is effectively a Steven Stapleton solo album and he would retain sole curatorship of NWW from this point onwards. Organoid "Bitsevsky Maniac" was recorded in 2007-2008 when I was 17-18 years old, and it was my first rather "adult" work. Unlike the first demo records, the material here took the form what was meant to be - atmospheric sinister crime electronics in the spirit of Slogun, Deathpile, Skin Crime, etc. "Bitsevsky Maniac" was lost by me in 2008 and still was never published, but in the summer of 2016 I was lucky enough to find it from my friend from another city! So this material waited for the listener for nearly 10 years. "Bitsevsky Maniac" is a conceptual material about Alexander Pitschuschkin, Russian serial killer, it includes Bloodyminded cover version plus some bonus tracks from first demos and compilations. SENKETSU NO NIGHT CLUB -- "s/t" -- CD -- €12

The project stems from an idea by ADRIANO VINCENTI determined to push his research into a new level. Inspired by extreme Japanese cinema, Adriano aims to bring together Japanese Power-Harsh drifts with jazz doom-noir atmospheres that he masters since a very long time. Next step was to involve in such a project GIOVANNI LEONARDI who was also passionate in such artistic expression. Alchemy was working and turning perfectly into a very intriguing project. The two than decided to ask also the support of English saxophonist IAN FERGUSON, who takes care of all wind instruments. But the initial psychoanalysis of the project is Japanese filmmaker FURACHI LIFE, she delivered one of his poems on band's debut album and took care of all the images and entire inspiration of the project... Everything was condensed in these 10 episodes that end up overcoming the stereotypes and gender boundaries, there is a language where jazz, trip hop, kraut rock, end up merging with industrial debris of uncompromising power-noise, evoking the most disturbing images of the rising Sol cinema. Shinkiro is a dark ambient project from Japan, formed in 2003 by Manabu Hiramoto who dwells in organic isolation full of pulsating drones and elegiac solaris ambiances. Based on the old recording sessions in 2003 - 2007 this release captures the darkest and most beautiful moments of Shinkiro's music: low-key synth textures merged with rhythmic cadences and slight distortions gradually unfolding roaming melodies, magnetic and cold undercurrents, ethereal epiphanies and ever present longing for the unattainable abyss. Three early unreleased albums assembled for the first time together manifest thrilling, oneiric and existentialist nature of Shinkiro's nature exposed in its dark and cinematic mosaic: Japanese voice samples blended with strained piano parts, machinery industrial noises, ominous drones, ritual percussion, hypnotic hardware pads leading to the event horizon. Athanor is proud to present the second album by Japanese artist Manabu Hiramoto as Shinkiro. While the first album was urban and influenced by the deep dark atmospheres of the futuristic city of Osaka, Shinkiro’s new album focuses on a more personal path influenced by Shinto, Buddhism and Manabu’s relocation by the country side. The sound of the new album is made of deep dark soundscapes mixed with percussions, soundsources of rain, winds, sea, trees, waves and birds. Though the album is dark ambiant and ritualistic in essence, it also has a meditative and contemplative touch which may please fans of Steve Roach, Robert Rich or Alio Die... "Etwas" is a new Tanuki Records cassette presenting two tracks (22:13 and 21:35 respectively) by Ilia Belorukov, Miguel A. Garcia and Alfredo Costa Monteiro, appearing for the first time as a trio. The three musicians had previously worked together in pairs: Miguel A. Garcia and Ilia Belorukov are regular collaborators (as Wolkokrots) while Monteiro has released two records with Garcia and one with Belorukov. All three have in common a practice based on physically challenging sounds and textures sourced from minute gestures and fragile materials like paper, strings, small objects or manipulated acoustic instruments like flute and accordeon. Despite their tiny initial volume and modest origins these sounds are treated until they acquire startling dynamic contrasts ranging from quiet and subtle to violently noisy. In these two pieces the trio has built an immersive landscape that eschews conventional drone tactics for slow-motion crashing micro-events. Tidal waves of piercing tones and sheets of sizzling mesh combine to shape unknown open spaces. [label info]

The St. Petersburg formation Cyclofillydea spent more than two decades in the field of post-industrial, and the term “industrial” is more appropriate here, with a decent feeling of “British esoteric underground”. Especially relevant is the second component of the release - Val Denham, the visual artist who worked with Troubling Gristle, Psychic TV and a number of members from the same underground. Lorraine is divided into four departments, plus a fifth which is called the steel-industry. The Fensch valley, in Lorraine, is one of those industrial regions heavily affected and effectlvely rendered powerless by the crisis of the steel-industry of the 1980s and 90s. As sons of metalworkers, and very much at home with the tools of the trade, the members of Muckrackers are natives of this region. They play within the slumbering industrial sites, in the veins of which the molten iron used to flow. With an authentic connection, far beyond the preppy poses of the industrial genre, their music bears the memory of their elders who have given their all: iron, cast iron, steel – and who, in the end, have been deprived of everything... “Kohle + Stahl” (Coal + Steel, an allusion to the late European Coal and Steel Community) is a tribute to Muckrackers and to their compatriots, sacrificed and promptly forgotten for supposedly superior reasons of productivity.

Half an hour long track by Flagellatio Orgasmus, slightly more atmospheric and experimental than early releases, but still keeping the basis of the old school industrial and power electronic energy. Hymenal Opening - a project by Jake DuBois, owner of the Bacteria Field label - pours half an hour of intense harsh noise. The second split from the series of five. Queen of noise from St. Petersburg, Svetlana is a longtime activist of the noise scene, but she never sought to publish her works preferring live performances. We took a recording of one of her gigs and placed on one side of a cassette. Austere analogue synth drone noise - this is the side of Svetlo111. Mykoriza side contains a mixed homemade set of slightly naive amateur noise ambient, made also with the use of mostly analogue setup. Once again PUSTOTA goes deep into the world of tape noises, re-recording and other magnetophone manipulations. Repeatedly re-recorded tape "cavities" are saturated with the imperfection of equipment and the entropy of material media: tapes from 70s-80s and reels. Four pieces are full of non-interference in the technical process and yet they have a special romantic spirit, an unaffected atmosphere. Artwork - paper pouch with inserts. In the wilderness of provincial abandonments secret secrets are secreted. Professor Lyagushinskiy, who fled to Berlin, had buried a golden treasure under an age-old fur tree, trying to save his wealth from the Bolshevists. Radio interceptions and scanning the ether may probably become a better finding, for the aesthetic treasures warm our soul no less then golden bars. RZENG -- "XXXX" -- CS -- €9

When speaking about her album ‘XXXX', Snezhana Reizen, a St.-Petersburg experimental musician, uses the epithet “two-hemispherical” that refers to the functional differentiation of the human brain, where the left hemisphere is responsible for analysis and logic, and the right one for imagination and intuition. Thus, the first - “left” - side of the cassette, where disciplined rhythms and thorny glitch reign, can serve as the acoustic equivalent for rational mental activity. On the second, the “right” side, dark industrial shamanism sets the tone, imposing a conversation about itself in categories of the fantastic. The integrity of the album is ensured not only and not so much by recurrunt and retracing sounds, as by its “trippy” nature. To change the metaphor, you can see that ‘XXXX‘ is arranged as a trip or a journey to the edge of night. On the way, the arrogant rider of consciousness plunges into sleep, drops the reins, and now the horse of the unconscious chooses its own path in a velvet emptiness. Wherever it steps, you always know where it will go. According to Reizen, the final track, which gave the name to the whole album, has an internal kinship to the slow-paced midnight raga Darbari. “Darbar” in Hindi and Urdu means “royal court”. The alchemical audience in the center of dream, who needs more explanation here? [label info]

The new album of Sistema Bezopasnosti, one of the few currently active Russian dark folk bands. Their music is heroical and lyrical militaristic apocalyptic folk recorded by the canons of the genre: marching rhythms, acoustic guitar, bass, piano, trumpet and some amount of electronics. The band's style is easily recognizable by its lyrics and ecstatic vocals of the band's leader VlaD Doronin, and also by lush but thoroughly thoughtful musical arrangements. The songs sang in Russian language are dedicated both to the present-day themes of the dominance of non-spirituality, and to the timeless philosophical questions. Here's also some place for simple human feelings. The album also features a couple of nice instrumental tracks... The second CD contains the album "Cosmogony and Eschatology" (2008) previously not released on physical media. This opus is dedicated to the Scandinavian mythology and shows completely different side of the band, particularly it's skills in working with analogue electronic sound. Rich multilayered instrumental compositions, each of them like a trip with complete plot. This is not purely an ambient work, here is enough space for pompous battle scenes, electro ritual atmospheres and noisy moments... The album is released in a double digisleeve with an 8-page booklet containing lyrics and photos.
