CoH -- "COH DOMA" -- CD -- €14
2018 retortae, elixir 12, (ltd. 200)
New album from Ivan Pavlov aka CоH is a recording session in memory of his old friend Mika Vainio, who sadly passed away last year. The concert based upon this material took place place at Dom cultural centre in Moscow on 18.06.17. Unfortunately, the original live recording was lost due to a hard disk crash. Presented record is a live-in-a-studio version of the show, carefully engineered and mastered for the CD release. Musically it is deep electronic ambient with some throbbing rhythm pulsations and occasional glitches. CoH is active since late-90es, the project has got numerous releases on various labels including such milestones of modern electronic scene as Raster-Noton and Mego. Ivan also was a part of a post-utopian project Soisong made together with Peter Christopherson of Coil. Most of CoH releases had very special packages and our release is not exception – the CD packed in a special octagon-shaped thick black silkscreened carton package with a die-cut window and strictly limited to 200 copies only. Desiderii Marginis -- "Songs Over Ruins" -- CD -- €12
1997/2017 Cyclic Law, 89th Cycle, (ltd. 500)
DESIDERII MARGINIS long out of print debut album from 1997 “Songs Over Ruins” is given a proper re-issue, carefully remastered by Johan Levin himself and with new artworks. A landmark in the genre, with it’s desolate, minimalistic and grief stricken odes to religious and spiritual burdens. A foray through abandoned ruins and a reflection on the passing of time and the impermanence of all things physical. Outstanding in quality and production skills, this mesmerizing and foreboding journey is at times tranquil and melodic and also dives into more martial like percussive elements and industrial atmospheres. Classics like these definitely need to be discovered still and also rediscovered, and it’s with great pleasure that we make it available once again. [label info]

Dvory -- "Crystal Mind" -- CD-R -- €8
2013 self-released
The complete version of "Crystal Mind", part of which was later included on a split-release with Lunar Abyss. Uneasy melancholic drone ambient played by the guitar & trumpet duo from Tver', Russia... going from nowhere into nothingness, just as it should... Incredibly beautiful hand-painted oversized cardboard sleeve.
Dvory -- "Potential" -- CD-R -- €8
2013 self-released
Two long drone tracks from this project coming from Tver', Russia. Raw dense guitar drone, flowery solos and shimmering of higher harmonics... Incredibly beautiful hand-painted oversized cardboard sleeve.
Esseiva, Kiko C. -- "Moteurs - Souffle - Serpent" -- CD -- €10
2017 1000+1 TiLt
Musique Concrète. Esseiva is a composer of musique concrete sound collages. Into the melting pot goes a fine blend of electronics, field recordings, recordings from around the house and a bit of instruments, of which I recognized the piano mostly. These sounds are probably processed in some way or another and layered together in a very fine way. Mostly these sounds are stretched out quite a bit and superimposed on each other; maybe Esseiva uses a bit of time stretching, maybe loops, I am not sure of either (or both) and acoustic elements are looped on top; sometimes they are cut out abruptly and something else happens. In ‘Amplitudes Des Serpents’ this is done with some delicate and excellent quality. It is a very mysterious world that he pictures in this piece of shimmering sustaining sounds versus acoustic loops. That is a great piece, but so are the other two. Here we have mild noise passages, slightly distorted organ sounds and looped field recordings. This is an excellent release, maybe his best yet? Not necessarily a very innovative sound, but very much his own approach to the genre of musique concrete. [FdW, Vital Weekly]

Il Lazzaretto –- "Tavola Anatomica V" -- CD-R -- €20.
2018 Tavole Anatomiche, TAV V, (ltd. 36)
The debut full-length album on an ultra-secret catacomb project. Post-Mortem Electronics in vein of the classics of the old Italian school: Leibstandarte SS MB / Atrax Morgue / Swastika Kommando / Mauthausen Orchestra. Painful howl of primitive electronics, necrotic noises, suffocating sound and tape hiss. Autopsy of an unidentified body in 10 parts, featuring the rapidly gaining popularity "Russian Corbelli" Flagellatio Orgasmus in half of the tracks. The artwork is typical for the label but completely unusual for normal standards: a cardboard folder with oductions of medieval anatomical engravings and a pentagram slit (symbolizing a cut at the time of dissection), a blood-red silk ribbon with a red plastic blade tied to it, a red plastic needle, a piece of cloth containing a badge taken from a corpse's leg, a couple of cards with anatomical reproductions and a card with a copy number. [YAOP]
Jannerwein -- "Eine Hoffnung" -- CD -- €12
2015 Steinklang Industries, SK 93 / Rainberg – RBV 02
German acoustic neofolk at its best since Forseti. Jännerwein's third studio album is their greatest achievement so far. Somwhat conventional in its expression of melancholy, but nonetheless surprisingly well achieved. [Blauer Selbstmord, bandcamp]

Kleistwahr -- "Down But Defiant Yet" -- CD -- €10
2017 Fourth Dimension Records, FDCD100, (ltd. 300)
Guitar Noise / Drone Rock. Collecting two songs from the long o/p ultra-limited lathe-cut released in spring 2017 on New Zealand's Independent Woman imprint, 'Broken and Beaten in 5/8 Time, Part One - Beaten' and 'Broken and Beaten in 5/8 Time, Part Two - Broken', plus two previously unreleased tracks exclusive to this release. Generally more refined than previous Kleistwahr work, the pieces here catch Gary Mundy (also of Ramleh and Broken Flag Records) furrowing his distinct and recognisable take on a kinda contemporary psychedelia with dystopian leanings. Also nodding towards the fug generated by certain ‘krautrock’ groups whilst retaining threads of those uncompromising power-noise surges he built his reputation on, this is music guaranteed to take you to new spaces before forcing you to nervously look over your shoulder. This is the fourth album for Fourth Dimension Records by Kleistwahr and once again arrives in an LP-style gatefold sleeve in keeping with the previous releases and, indeed, Broken Flag’s own design aesthetic. Millions Of Dead Tourists -- "s/t" -- CD-R -- €7
2017 1000+1 TiLt, (ltd. 220)
Experimental / Techno. You may remember P.S. Stamps Back? The project of Iason working the electronics to create a more dance oriented beat, with ‘Half Life’ (reviewed in Vital Weekly 1028) being a highlight so far. Here he teams up with two bass players, Sotiris and Yiannis (all of them come from circles in which last names don’t matter; ‘copies have no rights’ it says on the cover as a tell-all), who are a member of hardcore/grind band Ksera. They formed an alliance under the guise of Millions Of Dead Tourists in April 2016 and apart from two bass guitars, the other equipment is played by Iason, and that includes ‘audiomulch, nanozwerg, erebus synths, pedal effects and sequencer’. The five pieces on this self-titled CDR were recorded from May to September 2016. I had no idea what to expect really, and I was thinking something along the lines of Millions Of Dead Cops. That it is not. To me, but I’m sure this trio will see things entirely differently; Iason is the man who leads the troupe. There is quite a lot of sequencers and synthesizer sound to be noted in this music, and perhaps not a lot of bass guitar. It has not much to do with the world of hardcore or grindcore, and all with the alternative leanings of techno music. The bass guitar might very well be going through a bunch of sound effects, making it all light and thin, but it works well within the music. Should one not know this is a trio of musicians playing together, it could as easily pass as a one-man electronic army with a bunch of lo-fi apparatus, producing a wackier form of techno than one usually hears in a sweaty club. I very much enjoyed this crude take on techno, and towards the end, ‘The Day 1.71 Billion People Died And Went To Facebook” (which says probably they aren’t a laughing bunch) they go for some excellent minimalist guitar sound, acid synth, bass sequencer and a fine slow rhythm. I am not sure about the political side of all of this, but the music sounds quite all right. You should see me leaping up and down in the VW HQ. [FdW, Vital Weekly]

Nihil Verum -- "Hibacu Jimocu" -- CD EP -- €7
2017 1000+1 TiLt
Synthwave / Acid / Techno. I don’t think I heard of Nihil Verum before and the website says: “ps stamps back used dreadbox erebus and mfb doninion to make the Bass; jason bakey, ableton live to make the Rhythms. the noises and samples, they shared”. I vaguely have an idea what that means. Four pieces here, lasting twenty-seven minutes, which seems a bit short to me. Maybe, so I was thinking when I was playing this, PS Stamps Back changed his own music and made it less techno, because he now has Nihil Verum to do work with rhythms. The four pieces are all about a nice kick drum, a crashing of hi-hats and a bouncing bass line, and the outcome is some excellent retro acid techno music. Not super fast, but also not very slick. There is exactly that rough edge around the music that I like. Be it a wacky sound from a synth, a field recording of insects or voice sampled from television. It is not for me to say if this is the kind of music that should do well on the dance floor, but I surely can imagine an alternative scene in which people dance to this roughness. [FdW, Vital Weekly]

Phurpa -- "Gyer Ro" -- 2 CD -- €15
2017 Cyclic Law, 91st Cycle, (ltd. 500)
New offering from Russia’s shamanic ritualists PHURPA. Channeling the void with their eerie and engulfing overtone ritual chants rooted in the BON tradition of Tibet, their mesmerising rituals are used as a tool of transmogrification. The chanting meditations are accentuated by the use nga drums, rolmo cymbals, gyaling oboes, as well as telescopic dunchen horns, dunkar shells and short wandun horns. Their performances are meant as exercises in aural power, channeled primordial sounds aimed to alter ones consciousness, otherworldly prayer mantras pulsating through the chakras. This exhaustive Double album was recorded in Moscow, Russia in March 2016. Let go and touch the emptiness… [label info]

raison d'etre -- "Alchymeia" -- CD -- €13
2018 Cyclic Law, 101st Cycle, (ltd. 500)
It’s with great honour that we present the latest album by Swedish dark ambient stalwart raison d’être. This time Peter Andersson scrutinizes the paths of Carl Gustav Jung's notions of archetypes and the individuation process. Just like Mise en Abyme, the previous raison d'être album from 2014, Alchymeia is diving deep down to the shadows of the unconsciousness, and back to a dawn of the true Self. Confronting the shadow within is the darkest time of despair. There seems no way forward, only down. All is blackening and decomposed. Suddenly, through an enantiodromia, the ever deepening descent into the unconscious transmogrifies and becomes gradually illuminated. The melancholia is being purified. Alchymeia is in a sense the “raison d'être” of raison d'être, a shadowy journey through our unconscious the individuation process and archetypes. [label info]

Sombre Wrath -- "Radioperehväät" -- CD-R -- €5
2018 Operator Produkzion, OPERPRODUKT135, (ltd. 35)
The Russian radionoise scene that was resounding in old times hasn't pleased its fans with interesting works for a long time. And now - a new discovery in this genre, and what a discovery it is! The full-length album of the new project by the legendary Den Noiser (Mare Desiderii, Omutt, Morbid Fetish and many more) is not just a recorded piece of meditative radio ether, but an attempt of collecting a full-fledged interesting album comprised of diverse dynamic tracks with various moods, without using any manipulations with an equalizer or other means of processing. An attempt that is 200% successful! A truly fascinating and enthralling disc proving that radionoise is not only fixations, but also Creativity in the highest sense of this word. Next to the title of each track the author indicated the frequencies of the fixations - as an additional experience you can check out how the things are going there now. Black & white A5 cover. Srub -- "Chton" -- CD -- €10
2015/2017 FireStorm Production, FSP-029-17 / Infinite Fog Productions, IF-82, (ltd. 500)
Folk Rock / Post-Punk. The forest is full of mysteries. There are a lot of black trails and unseen night creatures. If they bring you to a foggy meadow, know that the amulet has saved you. Or you'll be buried in a thicket and never return home. And there, at the end of the path, there is a laughing silence, placing spider webs. Waiting for you. Chthonic... Surprisingly, SRUB mix European post-punk with the spirit of a dark forest, rhythmic shamanism with a meditative occultism, the uncertainty of the future with the sincerity of children's fears. SRUB already irretrievably led secret paths into the wild thickets most fans chthonic and unknown. SRUB is one of the leading groups of modern post-punk, the shadows of long-forgotten beliefs come to life in their songs, melodies burst into the very soul, and the live energy of their concerts makes even Death itself dance, which has already been verified many times. Coming "Sunrise", and let it be revealed to us. [label info]

Srub -- "Pesni Zlyh Tsvetov (Songs of Evil Flowers)" -- CD -- €10
2016/2017 FireStorm Production, FSP-030-17 / Infinite Fog Productions, IF-83, (ltd. 500)
Folk Rock / Post-Punk. Songs of evil flowers is an Ouroboros-album. The eponymous final composition brings us back to the beginning: "We must find the way back." The album is as integral and conceptual, as it is eclectic and dichotomous. Through the whole album several antagonisms are to be found: reality and dream, truth and lies, good and evil. The central key to unraveling this image is faith: "Do you still believe in fairy tales?" Everyone must find the answer to this question himself. Mysterious images are hard to understand: is it reality or is it a dream? And is the fear of thickets made up by ourselves? Or do the goosebumps appear on skin for real, in our reality? Invisible, but noticeable presence. Obviously. A different force awaits our decisions: "And with an invisible hand bears the light over you", "His shadows sang in a fog," "And over a long road He will silently set us the cross". Whose image one can see in these songs? Who is He? Should we go after Him or is He a phenomenon of evil forces. We do not give answers. We do not know the answers. Songs of evil flowers is an album of secrets. The choice of the right path does not exclude the acquisition of sacral knowledge. We are all looking. We are all alike, and we follow exactly in footsteps. We are revealed but we come in dreams. Our log house is abandoned, but full of evil flowers. Singing these songs. [label info]

Anipoforoi -- "Η Ομίχλη / Ξέχασέ Το / 8 Φορές" -- 7" -- €7
2014 Eirkti, eirma 013, (ltd. 500)
New Wave / Post-Punk. Anipoforoi (Ανυπόφοροι) are one of the first punk and post-punk bands active in the Greek underground music scene. Formed in Athens in 1979, they produced a series of powerful original compositions reflecting the youth spirit of those times. They were quite active in the following years, having a systematic stage presence and a positive response. However, it took more than three decades to complete the first official release - "8 Φορές / Λίγο Πριν Το Τέλος" (eirma 04, 2010). The second single (and the second release of the band) contains three songs made in the early 1980s which capture the sound & mood of this particular period. The record was printed in the edition of 500 copies in 5 different colours. We have a copy with a transparent dark green vinyl.

Grim -- "Psycho Sun" -- LP -- €23
2013 Steinklang Industries, SK68, (ltd. 500)
What Steinklang presents You here is the next REVOLUTION after the brilliant revival of Japans Ritual Industrial legend VASILISK. "Psycho Sun" is the first new album of Japans Noise-Pioneers GRIM since 27 years and their sound did not loose a single quantum of power in all those years! This is PURE GRIM, like three decades before!... In the mid 80ies GRIM released three incredible milestones of Industrial Noise music, the LP "Folk Music", as well as the 7" "Amaterasu" and the more folky 12" "Message". These three releases always were and still are the "holy grail" amongst the most wanted collectors-items of this genre... Short history: GRIM as well as VASILISK developed out of the legendary Industrial duo WHITE HOSPITAL (aka Jun Konagaya and Tomo Kuwahara). Both artists were mainly inactive over the last 25 years and now both felt the sparkle to start again doing music, but not like most other "re-starters", who are just a pale shade from their earlier times - GRIM and VASILISK are doing the same fantastic music now, than they did in their early years! Sewer Election -- "Internal" -- LP -- €19
2017 Jartecknet, 30, (ltd. 300)
Noise / Experimental. There is no need to provide any introductory notes for Sewer Election as the project is practically an institution by now, constantly exploring new audio and visual territories - Internal is no exception. Compared to the previous LP released this year by Sewer Election - Malign - the contrasts could not have been sharper. The bleak folkish tunes of Malign are replaced with two longer tracks of decomposed feedback loops and sometimes vociferous, piercing electronics - funneled through amplifiers, adding an airy, yet intense sound. Internal dwells in a musical borderland - hard to fit into any neat musical niche - this of course, should not surprise anyone who is acquainted to the oeuvre of an artist that refuses the road of conformity. V/A -- "Not A Time To Betray" -- CS -- €5
2018 UIS, UIS-10
The Iranian Revolution which overthrew the monarchy in February 1979 and proclaimed the Islamic Republic of Iran sent shockwaves around the world. The choice made by the Iranian people was of crucial historical importance: it shaped the course of the country’s development and also influenced the political climate of the entire region. Countless books and articles have been written on the causes and consequences of the Revolution, alongside no end of documentaries films. The aim of our compilation "Not A Time To Betray" is not to evaluate the events of those days but to try to convey the feel and mood of Iranian society in 1978–1979... The compilation includes the work of nine musical projects from Russia, Germany and the UK. Audio cassettes were randomly circulated in Tehran and Bandar Abbas in January 2018... Participants: Project Transmissions, T-Union, Grёzoblazhenstvie, Presskopf, Qamat is-sa'atu, Blue Dervish, Ajuleg & Irm, Holy Palms, KRRAU & Σολομών. [label info]

Deison + Gianluca Favaron -- "Nearly Invisible" -- CD + booklet -- €5
2015 13, sps1510, (ltd. 230)
Cristiano Deison and Gianluca Favaron met in 2011 when the latter was a guest on Deison's "Night Sessions" album on Silentes. Both involved in many projects and music collaborations - Favaron with Lasik Surgery, Maribor, Zbeen and Under The Snow, and Deison with Mingle, Matteo Uggeri and Maurizio Bianchi - during the summer of 2015, at last free from previous engagements, they finally decide to mix their sound attitudes and give life to "Nearly Invisible", an album where they process concrete sounds, field-recordings, digital impulses and analog tapes. A sort of "rational improvisation" where the two artists have a conversation talking through the sounds of their surrounding realities. A slow overlapping of contaminated drones, embedded with manipulated noises describes "nearly invisible" environments visually captured by the companion pictures taken by Stefano Gentile. Rough images, textured, dirty; details that open windows onto landscapes where you can recognize panoramas, shadows and structures. All of this is presented in a high quality package. [label info]

Dvory -- "Autumnal Ragas" -- CD-R -- €8
2013 self-released
A project from Tver, Russia, which we know for a split cassette with Lunar Abyss and hypnotic live gig at Solar Systo 2013 festival. The duo performs beautiful drone ambient on guitar and trumpet. Coiled loops of guitar harmonies eternally sway just like ocean waves, creating timeless atmosphere, and mild trumpet parts glide through the musical canval like feathery clouds in clear sky. As this is an "autumnal" album, there is a touch of melancholy, but it is just semi-transparent hues, never breaking serene contemplation. Incredibly beautiful hand-painted oversized cardboard sleeve.

Litvin, Arseny -- "Litarsgen-Reverberoidnaya Kislota" -- CD-R -- €7
2017 Paper Moon Republic, PMR_12, (ltd. 18)
Noise / Drone / Experimental. Small portion of audio drugs from the label boss. Sepia schizophrenia inside a boarded up wooden house. Unbearable reverberation of the universe in just one dose. One pill will make you primitive, another one will turn you in an old shabby tile. And from there it's not far to a theoretically infinite zen effect. CD-R with printed surface, packed in a half-DVD-box. [label info]

Majdanek Waltz -- "Die Blinden Schutzen" -- CD -- €10
2016 Sulphur Flowers, SF 7
Catharsis as art - the new full-length work of the leading Russian dark-folk project perfectly transmits the feeling of the devouring purification: death folk still has the right to exist, although most part of the time we are immersed in the deep swamps of dark ambient, embraced by the mysterious neoclassical chimes. 6-panel digipak in slipcase. Due to many requests for a digital version of the first Sturmpercht LP, we decided to rerelease this obscure pearl of Alpine-Folkmusic on CD now... This album is pure weird Alpine-Folk music with martial drinking-songs, alpine battle-hymns and strange fairie-tales out from the deepest Austrian and Bavarian forests, all embedded in a breath of black Monty Python humour.
