Alineko -- "A Guide to Lucid Dreaming" -- CD-R -- €10
2017 Pantheon, PAN080, (ltd. 50)
Drone. Second full-length work by Alineko is an aural excursion to the ancient art of lucid dreaming, personal reflection of the interest in Yoga Nidra and modern dreaming techniques. Being minimalist drone piece only at first glance, «A Guide To Lucid Dreaming» reveals a truly mesmerizing deepness and variety during the listening, unfolding hidden, but always present possibilities of our mind. One may hear choir or orchestra, humming of the wind or murmuring water, distant voices, whale songs, etc. – but nothing of it is present here, only play of perception. This music can be anything: meditation session, simple relaxing background or a truly deep listening experience, depending on the one's mood and surrounding... Comes in handmade four-panel cardboard envelope with two small postcards. [label info]

ASTMA / Meanza -- "Raw Volumes" -- CD -- €9
2017 Aut Records, AUT035, (ltd. 300)
"Raw Volumes" documents the meeting between noise mavericks ASTMA and electronic sound artist Bob Meanza. Behind the name ASTMA lies the duo of Alexei Borisov, legendary multi-instrumentalist from Moscow underground scene since the 80s, and Olga Nosova, emerging drummer and vocalist in Berlin's experimental scene. Known to be unapologetic forces merging free improvisation and noise attitude, ASTMA are touring internationally with a mutable setup, often playing "on the brink of failure", with broken devices, found objects, unpredictable connections... On the other side, there's the nerdy approach of Michele Pedrazzi, working here with the moniker Bob Meanza. His taste for detailed sound design and digital shininess (see "OU", Aut Records 2015) reflects in his rather melodic intentions and gentle technicism (like in his robotic installation "Cicadas"). And that turns to be a perfect complement to ASTMA's sound invasion... A very sharp and spontaneous meeting was recorded in Berlin, and the material was then polished enough to let the inner structures of each piece emerge and take form. Nurturing the sound but leaving it untamed, as it was supposed to be... The quest for the nastiest chaos and the cleanest geometry can lead to unique objects: that's what these "Raw Volumes" are - primitive crystals that come out of the dirt, in their precious and dangerous sharpness. Borbetomagus & Hijokaidan -- "Both Noises End Burning" -- CD -- €10
2007 Les Disques Victo, VICTO CD 106
Two monster proponents of noise esthetics, representing two continents whose cultures have often been described as
incompatible and yet meet in the celebration of noise. Purifying noise annihilating nationalities and differences. Noise inviting us to a fabulous sonic orgy where energy will reign over precision of execution, where violence is sublimated through strings, reeds and skins, where artistic research consists in destroying over and over what one has managed to build, in order to reinvent it. Two sax players, two guitar players, an electronics player, a singer and a drummer, all working hard to convince you that noise can be a lot more than noise, but exists mostly for making some noise! Colossloth -- "Heathen Needles" -- CD -- €10
2017 Cold Spring, CSR235CD
Industrial / Electronics. On his second album, Colossloth continues his esoteric sonic crusade of volatile yet absorbing audio textures. Cold electronica, with swathes of rhythmic power noise and industrial harshness, tempered with penetrating song structures. Eleven tracks of austere, reflective and exploratory electronics for journeys made into the hidden realms underpinning daily life, spanning the bridge between gnosis and praxis. The dissonance of opposites falling into elemental synthesis with a sound and approach influenced from the past, present and future, letting us remain anachronistic yet temporal voyeurs in the abyss evoked forth. Common Eider, King Eider -- "Shrines For The Unwanted, Respite For The Cast Aside" -- CD -- €10
2017 Cold Spring, CSR235CD
Ritual / Dark Ambient. The triumphant reawakening of San Francisco’s masters of behemoth ritualistic darkness… Within “Shrines For The Unwanted, Respite For The Cast Aside”, bone, antler and voice produce connective threads between the worlds, as guitar and percussion punctuate shifts in mood. Voices call to the spirits, and the spirits call back in return. Recorded in 2016 during four private, collective only rituals, the pieces pull the listener through the darkest and most overgrown trails of the blackest forest. Monumental and horizonless ritualistic black ambience. Vocal visitations by A.C. Way of Sutekh Hexen. Common Eider, King Eider is headed by Rob Fisk (ex-Deerhoof) and Andee Connors (A Minor Forest, legendary aQuarius boss). Spot-varnished digipak. [label info]

Ich Wollte, Ich Konnte -- "Iterum - In Memoriam" -- CD -- €12
2006/2017 Ufa Muzak, UFA73, (ltd. 180)
Neoclassic / New Wave / Minimal Electronics. In the gloomy summer of 2017 we're pleased to present you one of our favourite projects we've been fascinated for many years with their unique dazzling coldness. With this reissue we mark the 10 year anniversary of this album originally released on vinyl by the cult label TREUE UM TREUE. It's time to remember AGAIN the mysteriously disappeared Johanna Liebhart, an obscure German minimal-diva. It's from her pieces of sonic detachment (so much reminiscent in sound of the prison-time BURZUM) the large part of the album "In Memoriam" is comprised... We brew wormwood, we burn frankincence, it's time for the ritual of remembrance, this experience won't leave you untouched. This is a release reflecting borderline states. [label info]

Jotunspor -- "Gleipnirs Smeder" -- CD -- €10
2006/2017 Cold Spring, CSR244CD
Black Metal / Black Ambient. King Ov Hell (Gorgoroth, Sahg, God Seed) and Kvitrafn (aka Einar Selvik of Wardruna, Skuggsjá, Gorgoroth) teamed up and formed Jotunspor (“tracks/traces of giants”). Musically, “Gleipnirs Smeder” binds grim and primitive black metal together with elements of noisy dark-ambient, while the concept of Jotunspor is strongly founded in the old Norse cults and beliefs. “Glepnirs Smeder”, or The Forgers of Gleipnir, explores some of the incidents surrounding the creation of the world and Ragnarok – the ultimate doom / transformation. The chain Gleipnir, its forgers from the depths of Svartalvheim and Fenris – the chained jotun-wolf are some of the most important themes on the album, on which the lyrics are sung in Norwegian and Old Norse tongue. Produced and engineered in Norway by Kvitrafn, the album was originally released in 2006 by our sub-division Satanas Rex. Digipak. [label info]

Katapygon -- "Meousa" -- CD-R -- €13
2018 Pantheon, PAN105, (ltd. 50)
Ancient greetings, friends! This time we have something quite different at our label — truly epic, weird and apocalyptic full-length album by the postmodernist choir called KATAPYGON (which can be translated as "middle finger gesture"). Ironic, yet thoroughly conducted deconstruction act made upon Ancient Greek mythos. Ritual euphoric chants of Then processed through Apollonian technology of Now, subtle voices of the past in the decoration of tiny objects made gigantic. Infused by hypnotizing spoken word lines by Denis Rylov (NOISES OF RUSSIA), ΜΗΟΥΣΑ sounds like an bizarre story told by unseen figures standing behind time & space... Made in an edition of 50 copies on high quality CDR's, the album is represented by 12-page booklet with arts, lyrics, texts and translations which makes it look like some scientific brochure more than something music-related. Yet, the music here exists in a strong context of linguistic, cultural and philosophical studies — sometimes being more than serious and sometimes layering sardonic smiles and Dionysian sneers. Definitely not something you can put on background, but we still hope you'll enjoy the experience! [label info]

2016 Trutzburg Thule, TRUTZCD011, (ltd. 500)
Neoclassical / Martial Industrial. It is time again for LEIDUNGR’s new album "Nordiska Hymner" (Swedish for Nordic Hymns). The trinity of H. Möller known from Arditi & Puissance, Belfagor from Ofermod & Nefandus and P. Ståhl created their next opus of ritual martial-industrial till dark ambient following their highly acclaimed debut album. The lyrical concept of "Nordiska Hymner" is a philosophical presentation of ancient myths and spirituality of northern Europe. LEIDUNGR represent the few but strong, those never enslaved by any way of inferior thoughts. Through the music created by LEIDUNGR you will be able to come in contact with your own inner ancient Warrior Spirit, proud and unbreakable, no matter what earthly origin you may have. LEIDUNGR is Spirit, not flesh! Step into the realms of LEIDUNGR once again in a mindset of meditation and embrace the heritage granted to those who possess the necessary traits by ancient forces and currents, made into something sinister through the passage of time. Monti, Alessandro & Unfolk & Kevin Hewick -- "The Venetian Book Of The Dead" -- CD -- €10
2010 Diplodisc, dpl 002 / stella*nera
New Wave / Rock / Experimental. The Venetian Book Of The Dead is a remarkable Anglo-Italian collaboration based on a true story. An unusual 'concept album' about vinyl as musical entertainment, as opposed to vinyl as human tragedy, the music and lyrics are inspired by industrial disasters in the Venice area during the 1970s and 1980s, when many workers and citizens alike died of cancer as a result of corporate decisions. This second Unfolk release is a departure from its more folk-oriented debut, mixing Electronica and lyrical acoustic arrangements with beguiling and unusual song-structures (sometimes based on free improvisation). Featuring 10 modern 'protest songs' and 6 haunting instrumentals, the album has been mastered by Jon Astley (Led Zeppelin, The Who, etc.) and comes in a beautiful limited edition gatefold cover with a 32 page booklet (including lyrics in English and Italian). [Burning Shed] Kevin Hewick is a singer-songwriter based in Leicester, UK. In the early 80's his work was released by Factory Records and he was the first singer to replace Ian Curtis in Joy Division before they became New Order.

Pila -- "Gipnoticheskaya Faza" -- CD -- €10
1991/2018 Provoloka, prvlk 0008-0001 / Leningrad – 0004, (ltd. 500)
One of the early projects by ALEXANDER LEBEDEV-FRONTOV (LINIJA MASS, VEPRISUICIDA, VETROPHONIA, etc.). "Thirty minutes of sound terror and hysteria, various variants of which under various names have been being recorded and stubbornly, obtusely and cheerly distributed by the Leningrad-based activist of the "underground" culture, musical follower of Pol Pot tradition and an aesthet A. LEBEDEV-FRONTS (ex "LINIJA MASS" and "DEAD HIPPIES"). In psychiatry, the "hypnotic phase" is a transitional state from the normal to the absolute total delirium. Initially having the deepest mystical basis, the present work revealed its subconscious & visionary character with the passage of time, for its recording was completed on August 18, 1991; the day before the start of the State Committee on the State of Emergency and the fateful victory of "the forces of progress and reason." It reflects the anticipation of the next stage after the hypnotic phase of the development of the social organism - the stage of complete delirium. Sincerely pleasing is the song "Sebastian Pereira", dedicated to the memoty of People's Artist of the USSR Mikhail Astangov, the performer of the roles of racists, fascists and traders of "black tree" in movies of the 30-40's. Such compositions as "The Wolf's Maw", "Riot of the Subcortex" and "God Save Saddam" (the only thing recorded earlier in 1990) will not leave you indifferent too. There are no coherent poetic texts, melodic lines are simple and unobtrusive (if they exist at all). A therapeutic effect has been observed after listening to the cassette, such as cases of resorption of colloidal sutures, improvement in appetite (in some cases - wolfish appetite), the increase of intracranial pressure stops. It will be appropriate to start listening to this work with full concentration of will and clenched teeth..." ["Smerch" zine, 1995]

Rumore Austero -- "s/t" -- CD -- €10
2016 Diplodisc, special product 1 / Hysm?, 130 / Amirani Records
“Rumore Austero produces unorthodox instrumental snapshots for modular practices, mostly performed in barren unusual environments”, the press text says about this duo of Giordano Giorgi and Marco Carcasi. The cover lists a whole bunch of instruments, such as field recordings, kalimba and Shruti box but all the rest is in Italian, so I am a bit clueless. I would say there is a variety of instruments available for them, both conventional and otherwise and in the eleven pieces they explore via the idiom of improvisation and endless amount of approaches for these objects. One thing seems to be clear to me and that is these improvisations are part of the world of rock music. Guitars seem to be playing an important part here and even played in an odd way, there is still something about this that sounds a bit like a rock guitar. I was thinking at times of The Ex and their guitarists, but then without vocals, drums or exotic saxophone players. Rumore Austero add a fine amount of distortion to garner a bit of extra spice in their music; they use objects to hit their strings and do so in a fine repetitive manner, such as in ‘Coda Mozza Vuole Ali’; some of this then reminded me of a very condensed Glenn Branca. Their rockist agenda works quite well, I think, and they plunder easily over many years of free rock and they do it quite well, bordering on the more abstract sound art and the convenient alternative rock space; perhaps not always innovative but always with the right attitude to make each piece be alive. Sala / John Grzinich / Kromeshna -- split -- CD -- €10
2017 Semperflorens, SF02SP, (ltd. 300)
Ambient / Experimental / Noise / Drone. SALA: "The initial idea of the work - unheard city or city that was heard differently. Sounds, that are rather inaudible, but they affect us as much as everyday sounds. These are vibrations of different urban objects, recorded using contact microphones and converted into the audible range of vibrations. Unexpected excursions into the underwater world that is right next to us, armed with hydrophones. Electric city, submerged in the ocean of electromagnetic radiation, dead and dreaming like a mythical monster Cthulhu. I traveled here while listening to the city - alone and together with all of you that weren’t there. Recorded and mixed during the curated residencies program “Questioning Arts”, Utena, Lithuania, 2015..." --- JOHN GRZINICH: "Recorded in Estonia, Finland and Iceland 2015-2017. Composed at maaheli studio, June 2017 ‘Order Induction’ is a dedication to the noise that pervades our daily lives and the function it serves. By ‘noise’ here I don’t refer to the proliferating array of sounds that distract and disrupt cognitive continuity and hence ‘pollute’ our environment. Noise here specifically refers to the quality of broad band frequency sound that result from rich signal density be it from moving air or large scale mechanical activity. Yes, much of this noise can be evaluated as a form of pollution in its increasing pervasiveness and damaging pressure levels. Yet the noise recordings for ‘Order Induction’ were made in everyday environments from an array of sources as evidence of how broad band noise constitutes a significant amount of the sound that we perceive, including more ‘wild’ natural environments. In the end the distinction of ‘good’ or ‘bad’ noise breaks down and becomes a matter..." --- KROMESHNA: "This composition is a live mix of archival recordings and materials recorded specially for this session. Here are used field recordings, tape experiments, night sessions recordings and other materials. This composition is a kind of reference to the early works of the project. Kromeshna addressed to archaic, animism, subconscious and memory of blood recording. It's damp here and someone is peeking at you from under the old tree roots..." [label info]

Tim Six -- "Infinity Studies" -- CD-R -- €10
2017 Pantheon, PAN085, (ltd. 44)
Drone. The idea for this recording was quite simple – to combine layers of sound obtained from different acoustic instruments (tracks 1 & 3) or field recordings (tracks 2 & 4) for creating aural space which can be perceived at different levels. First, the emotional level of simple background listening (which is becoming more and more common nowadays), which corresponds with idea of Аmbient music in terms of Eric Satie & Brian Eno. Then structural, or "analytic" level, on which our rational mind builds the picture of "what and how", or at least tries to - because it's not always easy with drone music. Third level is "deep listening" (according to Pauline Oliveros ideas) which involves unfocused listening experience, when one allows the sound to be as it is, without building a distance between the it and one's perception.. Reaching this point one may realize that sound contains much more than just sum of used instruments & effects and its impact on perception reminds meditative state - full awareness without involvement to analysis and emotions... Tracks order and composition on this album are meant to create floating effect between all three levels, underlining that none of them is "true" or "better" - the wholeness of experience can be reached by synthesizing all of these levels and even finding more. Nuances, silent echoes, psycho-acoustic effects, ripple of harmonics, tape hiss and forest hums - all elements here meant to represent bigger picture, serving as hyperlinks to the qualia, subjective experience which we all share at some level but are unable to express verbally without losing the experience itself when going deeper into individual aspect of perception. It exists in a moment, and capturing that moment was the intention of this work. [label info] A solo project of the man behind CREATION VI and PANTHEON label.

Zinc Room -- "Grave Abyss" -- CD -- €9
2017 Frozen Light, FZL 063, (ltd. 300)
Industrial / Dark Ambient. The project from the Urals comes back to tell you a horrible night tale. Cemetery wickets are creaking, wind howls in damp crypts and crooked crosses strain after their masters buried down in the ground. Steel slabs and spiral springs, overdriven bass guitar and rattling electronics move along with piercing synth and cello parts. Recommended to the lovers of graveyard aesthetics and dark old school industrial ambient.

V/A -- "Visions Of Darkness (In Iranian Contemporary Music)" -- 2 CD -- €14
2017 Cold Spring, CSR242CD
A gathering of majestic, heavy, dark ambient, ritual, drone and noise music from Iran. Highly original and monolithic, with stunning production, Visions Of Darkness stands shoulder to shoulder with the giants of the Dark Ambient scene. In a country where youth culture has been heavily restricted for so long, it’s significant when a cultural form such as this has an opportunity to reach a wider audience – aided by the abstract nature of dark ambient, drone and noise. In comparison, the dance music scene has a harder time taking root in Iran due to the illegality of men and women dancing in public together. However, the growth of the experimental electronic scene is going to be about more than a mere novelty reaction to a political paradigm shift. The darkness here is a consequence of the mood of the artists – darker after the country was put on a black list and more restrictions were applied to many things, including monetary transactions to and from Iran. As a consequence, Iranian artists have a great difficulty getting the resources to better develop their projects. Despite this, the enthusiasm and will for Iranian musicians to promote their music shines through. [label info] List of artists: Saint Abdullah, Xerxes The Dark, S.S.M.P., ALPHAXONE, Limen, Ali Phi, Reza Solatipour, Nojan, Hossein RangChi, Narcissa Kasraï, Rhonchus, DSM, idft, Nyctalllz, PooYar, Anunnaki Signal, Soheil Soheili, XSIX, Crows In The Rain, Downtown Of HongKong, Mehdi Behbudi & Vahide Sistaani.

Zweizz / RU-486 -- split -- C-30 -- €5
2009 Destructive Industries, DI024, (ltd. 100)
Noise / Power Electronics. A vile and disturbed pairing. The first is Zweizz, better known for his blackened work with Fleurety and Dodheimsgard, now dabbling in avant garde hysteria. The dragging and grunting sounds of moral rape coupled with harsh Norse prose, seething with unapologetic liturgy... The post attack by RU-486 is no less forgiving. Christian zionism held under the blade of flesh skinning contempt. Cascades of deafening bliss. The last bullet of war ripping through dying skin. By devils be driven, they wade through our seed. Chalk, Andrew / Ralf Wehowsky / Eric Lanzillotta -- "Yang-Tul" -- CD -- €10
1998/2016 Cold Spring, CSR220CD
A legendary sound collaboration formed of two lengthy pieces. The first track features Andrew Chalk (Mirror, Ora, Ferial Confine) gently reworking the sound materials of Ralf Wehowsky (P16.D4). A hypnotic, slowly-evolving drone with waves of mysterious sounds, static and glitches. The second piece, on the other hand, finds Ralf Wehowsky composing a frenzied journey into otherworldly realms using sound material from Andrew Chalk and Eric Lanzillotta (Eye Music). These pieces reflect a sound unique from the work of any of the three individual participants, but clearly related. Subtle, but full of detail for the willing listener. Originally issued as limited coloured vinyl only on Lanzillotta’s label Anomalous Records in 1998. Cover painting by Andrew Chalk. Remastered for CD from the original master recordings. Digipak. Kryptogen Rundfunk / Forgttn -- "Verges: Tada Ima / Elaboration" -- C-86 -- €8
2016 NEN Records, NEN08, (ltd. 45)
The eighth NEN Records cassette is an encounter of Russian crypto-techno. It is not just a split - that is, a record shared by two projects. ‘Verges’ looks like a special construction connecting time and space. And this construction is of a double-edged nature, as its name conveys. Side A contains a record made at a dash impromptu on a July 2004 night set by the renown St.Petersburg project Kryptogen Rundfunk. Side B is a debut release from Moscow DJ Paul Begge, who worked, by contrast, slowly and carefully under Forgttn moniker that opens a new era in his career. The difference is obvious from both the side titles and technical setup. ‘Tada Ima’ means in Japanese something fleeing here and now, accidental games of emptiness, self-manifesting through the vintage Soviet synths and radio receivers. ‘Elaboration’ is a well-thought and sophisticated opus, created with the use of digital technologies 11 years later than the Side A record. However, despite all their differences, the projects have one story to tell. Quasi-techno by KR – you can virtually feel an ironic, psychedelic mushroom aroma - steadily flows into mechanical marches by Forgttn Here where you find yourself a hero in a disturbing play with an open end. May we find a better illustration of what has happened to us for the last 15 years? [press-release]

Maeror Tri -- "Ambiguitas" -- CD -- €10
1995/2014 Teta-Morphosis, tm01, (ltd. 500)
Reissue of a cassette originally released in 1995 by Lebensraum label as an edition of 149 copies. Most of the material was recorded in 1991-1992 plus two tracks from 1989. The tape is dedicated to the never understandable ambiguity of life. Raw minimalistic industrial rumble and roar, trademark reversed sounds, melancholic guitar drone and psychedelic wave of spiraling melodies.
Maeror Tri -- "Subliminal Forces" -- CD -- €10
1991/2014 Teta-Morphosis, tm02, (ltd. 500)
Reissue of a cassette originally released in 1991 by Tonspur Tapes label, containing recordings made in 1990-1991. Deep low-end drones and plangent noises, reverbed clanging of metal and other experimental textures, minimum of melodies and guitar-based melancholia, typical rather for later period of the band. Complete and relentless immersion into the subliminal sphere.

Merzbow -- "F.I.D." -- 2 CD -- €14
2006 Fourth Dimension Records, FD2CD70
Three recordings from December 2005 and January 2006 on each disc. "F.I.D.' (Fur Is Dead) follows the lead of the recent 'Minazo Vol. 1', the tracks are coated in defined melodies and ultra noisy denser textured ambience, the use of guitar feedback taken to a new sculptured level. Each track here is very different, not staying in one set of sounds, which makes it a wonderfully balanced double album... In the top two or three Merzbow releases for this year and in the top ten releases of the last few years. Another clear example of an artist, performing at the height of his powers. Troum -- "Acouasme" -- CD -- €10
2015 Cold Spring, CSR213CD
After the much praised collaboration with RAISON D’ETRE released summer 2015 (“De Aeris In Sublunaria Influxu”) and the final volume of the ‘Power Romantic’ trilogy with “Mare Morphosis” in late 2013, “Acouasme” is the first full length album from TROUM in over 2 years. With this album, TROUM wanted to go in a completely different direction, creating a ‘harsher’ and more ‘Industrial’ sounding album as a contrast to previous releases. But through the trademark troumatic machining, the final result doesn’t sound at all like standard harsh noise – it’s rather industrial noise as if filtered through a feverish dream, through a deranged perception. The six long tracks of pestering transrational drones on “Acouasme” sound like an aural psychiatric symptom, a humming hallucination leaving the stable reality. [press-release]

Z'EV -- "Eleven Mirrors To The Light" -- CD -- €10
2015 Cold Spring, CSR196CD
Z'EV completes an alchemical exploration of Concord and Dissonance that began with the cosmological equations of Sum Things and then clasped the elemental quintet of air, water, fire, earth and spirit in A Handful of Elements. Now, with Eleven Mirrors to the Light, Z'EV plays with the intersection of light and dark, catching waves of luminescence between prisms and mirrors that fragments particles into shimmering washes of sound. Z'EV's trademark percussion transforms into glistening soundscapes and drones, one part subterranean and another subatomic. [label info]

Z'EV -- "Sum Things" -- CD -- €10
2009 Cold Spring Records, CSR101CD
Industrial / Ritual / Drone. Through an elemental darkly…In the fall of 2005 Z'EV began dipping deep into his archives and selecting recordings to produce 'sum things / a possible form for cold dark matter', a project reflecting his take on the 'dark ambience' genre. Composed between December 2005 and March 2006, these 6 pieces endeavour to transport the listener deep into their long forgotten memories of the primal forces at the dawn of creation. Each piece is based on a single sound source. Absolutely no effects of any kind, not even equalization, were applied to the source recordings. Hear then, the state of the art in elemental musics.
