Artificial Memory Trace -- "Vol. 9 : Distori (Noah)" -- CD -- €10
1998 Sonoris, SON-07
Artifical Memory Trace sort of is the right person to fit these traditions of electro-acoustic music: intelligentely composed with modern means (read: sampling), into relatively short pieces that hold the attention. Without any limitation he jumps back and forth in his sound material. Sometimes all the events seem to be apparent at the same time, but at other times one long curve is drawn, such as in the beautiful opening piece 'Skeletune(s)'. AMT can be placed among the likes of Illusion Of Safety and Brume... [FdW, Vital Weekly]

Brume & Nomuzic -- "Transports" -- CD -- €10
1997 Cheeses International, CI09
Two masters team up. Transports not of equipment, but the exchange of music by mail. Brume is known for doing anything with sound but not with synthesizers or samplers and Nomuzic on the other does everything with the analog and digital keyboards. The 15 pieces are rather short and most of them swirl around like a thick mass of sound in which one can sometimes recognize drum patterns, metallic percussion sounds etc. This is not an easy CD to digest - I had to play this many times before capturing the beauty. Maybe it's because the sound is so thick and there is much going on a mostly the same dynamic level. But as said: there is a lot going on and there is beauty to be discovered by the careful listener. [FdW, Vital Weekly]

Column One & The Excellent Listener -- "s/t" -- CD -- €10
1995 Cut-Up-Construction Rec., Method 002

Da-Sein -- "Death Is The Most Certain Possibility" -- CD -- €16
2017 Galakthorro, Galakthorro 044
Galakthorrö celebrates the presentation of Da-Sein’s first album. Da-Sein continue on the path they’ve established on their debut EP Tautology: The album is impressive with its musical variety, skilfully arranged without falling to pieces. Minimalistic Angst Pop smashers with driving rhythms alternate with abstract sound sculptures. In certain selected places gloomy melodies drag themselves up from a foundation of organised drones and noises generated by the analogue synth. Deadpan female vocals from the Crypt, embedded in clouds of echo and gigantic reverberations, condense the omnipresent Darkness and Hopelessness. Just as diffuse as the voice, Heidegger’s philosophy (used by the Artists as a stimulant) evaporates into the rather personal sounding lines of text. Only the title of the album, and of course the band’s name, remain as an unambiguous testimonial. It doesn’t matter, because Music opens the soul of both creator, and listener, to an equal extent. That happens here and that’s how it should be. CD in jewel case with 16 page booklet. [label info]

Dadhikra -- "Siberia" -- CD-R -- €7
2017 Valgriind / Glasir CDR Series, 02, (ltd. 28)
Recorded as a continuation of a 7" with the tales of the Yukaghir people, this album is also inspired by the traditional culture of the Siberian folk. Mouth harps, shaman's drums, throat singing, wooden flutes, noise of raindeer herds - all these ingenuous but convincing instruments create a chtonic canvas in the tones of viscous dirty brutal sound. The music is so energetic and emotionless at the same time, that it can fit well for any kind of pastime, mood and way of listening. A step on a firm hillock among the champing swamps - on a steady way to the ideal. Cover handmade of vintage cardboard, every copy looks differently. [YAOP]

Day Before Us -- "Prelude а l'ame d'elegie" -- CD -- €10
2015 OPN Records, OPNCD0031, (ltd. 300)
Day Before Us is a cinematic, neoclassic dark ambient and deep sound art project formed in 2011 by Philippe Blache. Full length releases have been published by Rage in Eden, Twilight Records (…) Slowly moving melancholic piano airs, tonal synth clusters, processed acoustic textures, lyrical themes and discreet experimentations characterize the compositional process and the stylistic inclination. The Gerogerigegege -- "Moenai Hai" -- CD -- €22
2016 Eskimo Records, CD-03, (ltd. 500)
The Gerogerigegege has just come back along with new full-length album! The Gerogerigegege is founded by Juntaro Yamanouchi in 1985 and well known for numerous activities with striking concepts / methods / ideas / practice defying any kind of existing conventions in each release and aktion since a debut tape on ZSF Produkt. "Moenai Hai" is the first ever official album in 17 years and released on Eskimo Records, run by Jun Konagaya (Grim, White Hospital, HovH). This album contains brand new four recordings composed in 2014-2015, except one track 'Gerogerigegege', originally composed in 1985 and exclusively recorded in 2014-2015 for the first ever publication. For The Gerogerigegege, any descriptions of the 'music' nor 'sounds' must be senseless and needless, you ALL know. We just express that The Gerogerigegege is again beyond your expectations and you will encounter thee beast in the labyrinth "Moenai Hai". Just grab actual product and stand face to face with this album. [Lust Vessel]

Harvest Rain -- "Nightwave" -- CD -- €10
2015 OPN Records, OPNCD0029, (ltd. 300)
Brand new album from French Neofolk / Electro act Harvest Rain. "The Path, like untamed fruit, is rotten, withered, decayed and deceased. Like a bloated body left out in the open sun. The fruit ferments... There is nothing in this world more beautiful than the moment when a human soul has been shredded, crucified endlessly, tormented, driven insane, beat and spat upon, torn into a trillion pieces, and all of this alone with no one to share or to know of it and to then be made anew, to receive the Consolamentum and brought back together, whole, complete, absolute, Resurrected. Could there possibly be anything more beautiful? Yes. I am one of the few who survived that Path. By the Absolute Loyalty of Divine Love. "She" in the flesh. "Her" footsteps are real, now and forever. For that is Her breath with mine in the Muse-ic of this album. The Serpent swallowed it's Tail. The Final Test. The Final Turn of the Wheel. There will be no more. For, behold! It is Done!". 6-panel digisleeve. [Cold Spring]

Light Collapse / Konstantin Kozlov -- split -- CD-R -- €6
2013/2017 Paper Moon Republic, PMR_9, (ltd. 20)
Radionoise. Paper Moon Republic dedided to re-release this split-recording published in 2013 by the previous incarnation of the label - Down Elcovka Records - in a limited edition of 10 copies. That time it was an audio-tape packed in a big cardboard foldout fish. Now this material is released in a compact traditional CD-R form. Fish is still there though. CD-R with printed surface, packed in a Half-DVD box. [label info]

Litvin, Arseniy -- "Rhine Without Gold" -- CD-R -- €6
2017 Paper Moon Republic, PMR_7, (ltd. 18)
Noise / Dark Ambient. It happened! The vile nibelung dwarf Alberich has cursed love to gain the force and power and stolen the main treasure of the Rhine river - the Rhine Gold. The once powerful waters became muddy and frozen. The singing of mermaids no longer spreads around from the gray and faded shores. Somewhere at the bottom seething are the cyclic harbingers of death. So Rhine will stay, until the hero comes and returns the gold to the river. CD-R with printed surface, packed in Half-DVD box. [label info]

Lunar Abyss Dormit Odd -- "Quarto" -- CD -- €8
2017 Biosonar^Labyrint 034, (ltd. 24)
Fourth part in the series of oneiris sound design works of the LUNAR ABYSS project. Slow, almost static immersion in the chtonic layers of semisomnolence. Dense monotonous drone covers feeble melodic and impulse currents with its heavy blanket. Ibotenic creatures come out from the holes of subconsciousness and dance smoothly in the dark. Good soundtrack for drowsy self-immersions, but not for the deep sleep. This material is based on the live recording made at "Polu-Dryoma" (semisomnolence) party (04.03.2017 Silent Tea Room, featuring the musicians from Mira Drevo and Snezhana Reizen), restructurized and overlayered. Artwork - cardboard sleeve with an applique made of postcards. [label info]

Manet -- "Devour" -- CD -- €12
2017 Dark Jazz Records, DJR 001
A perfect doom jazz/post rock hybrid. Definitely the best Manet album produced yet. Smooth, flowing textures mixed with haunting saxophone and subtle guitar create vivid imagery that resembles the artwork perfectly. [Robert C. Kozletsky] Digipak.

Microspora -- "NSDAP" -- CD-R -- €5
2017 Operator Produkzion, OPERPRODUKT88, (ltd. 88)
Trance-inducing catacomb Death Industrial Ambient filled with samples from the history of the NSDAP. More meditative and ritualistic version of the music brought to the world by Söldnergeist and Drape Excrement. This is one of those Microspora works most completely reflecting the essence of the "underground culture" of the old school noise scene of St. Petersburg. [label info]

NihilTronix -- "Curiosites" -- CD -- €10
2015 OPN Records, OPNCD0030, (ltd. 300)
After one EP published in 2009, the industrial “synthetic” electronic project NihilTronix formed by Arnaud B (alias I-C-K) is back with a new effort. With a handful of relevant releases published on the renown Hau Ruck! and La Nouvelle Alliance, the classic project I-C-K prefigures the typical noisy-musical infection of NihilTronix. Curiosités encompasses the most brutal-mysteriously hallucinogenic electro facet of the French label OPN Records devoted to a wide range of uncompromising underground musical genres: power electronic, white noise, to dark ambient and industrial minimalism mainly from France and also from various countries... This first full length delivers a visceral and tripped out apocalyptic soundtrack where death industrial patterns meet minimal synth pop and typical schemes of industrial music culture. This work is reminiscence of early SPK or Whitehouse, Throbbing Gristle, Maurizio Bianchi, Missing Foundation’s electronic assaults and fuzzed out vibes with an inclination for trance-infusing machine drums which emphasize the blackened-cerebral of the ensemble. Cinematic touches also come in the mix with the addition of found sounds, voices and samples. Neurotic and frosty minimal electronics give the impression to be used as metaphors to describe the new technological order, its subliminal messages and its repressive imperatives on the existential level and on practical human activities dominated by the mega machine... Definitely the weirdest crushing experimental soundtrack for the post-modern Prometheus. To sum up things this first full length offers an intense noisy-kinetic electronic scenery recommended for fans of early 80s industrial brutalism and chilling minimal synthscapes. [Philippe Blanche, Igloo Magazine]

Nocturnal Emissions -- "Duty Experiment" -- CD -- €10
1995 Soleilmoon Recordings, SOL 5 CD
Demonstration recordings and out-takes from the Emission Control Archive. Recorded between 1980 and 1984... "Nocturnal Emissions remain faithful to an interior clock of their own on Duty Experiment, a compilation of mid-80s glory-days outtakes that features some nostalgically post-punk titles like Tanks in Gdansk and Even The Good Times Are Bad. The music sounds not unlike the live vivisection of old ARP 2600 synthesisers. Takes the paint off walls." [Paul Stump, The Wire]

1998 Soleilmoon Recordings, SOL 59 CD
All titles decomposed and disarranged by Nigel Ayers.

Nocturnal Emissions -- "Songs Of Love And Revolution" -- CD -- €20
1985/2007 Klanggalerie, gg106, (ltd. 400)
This was a "cusp" record for Nocturnal Emissions, marking the end of a period of more "conventional" songwriting and instrument use. Love and Revolution was the most explicitly "message"-oriented and political. This is a tough record to peg, so maybe trying is besides the point. Nigel Ayers is a pretty smart egg -- check out his Network News for some real quasi-Fortean fun -- so what comes off the disc seems at first glance incredibly doctrinaire and stodgy. "Cops, lawyers and journalists [hey...!] are lying dead all around. There's no one left to judge us. Their iron facade has rusted!" he sings on Power of Love (Bring Power to its Knees), and you get the impression that he's pitching the whole thing so that the people who will take it straight will take it straight and the people who will consider it a tongue-in-cheek piss-take will take it as exactly that. Which is either massively clever or an incredibly pathetic dodge -- I'm still not entirely sure about that. But one thing I do know: put aside the politics, however middle- or no-brow they may be, and what you have here is one extremely neat piece of no-budget sonic rabblerousing. The equipment used on the record is incredibly primitive -- the ramshackle sound makes it all the more lovable, actually -- but everything's used with care and intelligence, and each piece is made to matter. Ayers has said something to the effect that a toy instrument shoved through a massive PA can get better results than a $2,000 synth any day. I guess it all depends on who's doing the shoving, right? [Genji Press]

Nocturnal Emissions -- "Sunspot Activity" -- CD -- €10
1997 Soleilmoon Recordings, SOL 52 CD
Ayers makes no attempts to disguise the unashamedly lo-tech conception of the sound sources used: the crackle and distorted drift of a vinyl run-out groove, bursts of reverse loop bells and chimes, fractured electronic layers of the analogue kind and snatches of cosmic radio frequencies all merge seemlessly to create a hypnotic and tangibly coherent night-time soundtrack. [Robert H. King, Variant]

ORD -- "Sacra Mental Hypno Drone: Rituals & Revelations" -- CD -- €10
2017 Status Prod., SP 04CD, (ltd. 200)
When the sun sets over the sacred river, when grasses fade with black soil, when forests freeze in silence - spirits speak through the mouth of a shaman... STATUS Prod. presents the decute album "SACRA MENTAL HYPNO DRONE" by the Russian ritual / dark ambient project ORD coming from the city of Voronezh. The standard version of "Rituals & Revelations" is limited to 200 hand-numbered copies and includes the CD and a card wrapped in stamped sleeves made of craft paper. Shamanic rhythms, ringing and droning of ritual instruments form the sonic mask of a shaman, taking the listener to the Lower worlds, then lifting to the Upper worlds. Only live instruments, samples and field recordings were used during the recording of this album. [label info]

Order Of Victory -- "Calamitas Virtutis Occasio Est" -- 3"CD + DVD -- €12
2014 Casus Belli Musica, CBM 019CD/DVD, (ltd. 445)
Dedicated to the 900-day defence of Leningrad under siege, to the legendary story of courage and heroism which sets wondering and delights even nowadays, and will remain in the future generations memory for ever. Two compositions of the mini-album, one of which is based on the front-line soldier and poet’s, Yuriy P. Voronov (1929 – 1993), verses, freeze the heart over with the ice breath of that blockade winter. The footage presented on DVD includes compositions of the duet’s debut album, and makes clear all hardship and destitution of the war of 1941 - 1945. [label info] The project was closed in 2016 and the stocks of most old releases were deliberately destroyed, this is one of the survivied copies.

Polygon -- "Images" -- CD -- €10
2001 Polymorph Records, POLYMORPH 06, (ltd. 900)
Ingo Lindmeier’s genre-hopping Polygon project spanned ambient, dark ambient, electro, and IDM over its various releases, but Images, released in 2001, is perhaps the most assured. While Refuge (1995) featured an emphasis on vocals and a a clear electro foundation, and Omnon (1999) was assuredly dark ambient, Images is both of these, spliced together, with the vocal element removed. Containing the interstellar themes and ice-clear, meticulously mixed electronics that give the project its identity, Images is a transfixing journey through a realm of outer space atmospheres and programming prowess. [Teutonkhamat]

Poterna -- "Fate" -- CD -- €10
2015 Status Prod., SP 03CD, (ltd. 260)
"The whole history of mankind is a prolonged history of a living matter that, by the Creator’s will, acquired an ability to think, but that did not know what to do with this fatal ability. It could not find any better use for this ability than invention of the most effective ways of global suicide..." The apocalypse created by the mankind’s own hands is the main idea of the debut album "Fate" of a side project POTERNA by Shilov, the leader of martial/neofolk duet ORDER OF VICTORY. Sounds recorded in steel and forge plants of different industrial enterprises, as well as samples from movies, were used for recording of this album. Sound production and mastering by Antuan Graftio (THEORY, SACRIS TANDEM, CONJUNCTURE). Design by The Temple of Theturham (theturham .blogspot.com). The album is released as 6-band card-sleeve CD with a pennant card. Album edition is 260 hand-numbered copies. [label info]

Pustota -- "Tekhnicheskiy Pereryv (Technical Brake)" -- CD-R -- €6
2017 Biosonar^Lo-End, 070/2017 cdr, (ltd. 7)
Another portion of tapes found in our storage - the result of revision of audio cassettes recorded 5 years ago. Playing back and re-recording on various types of devices, various speeds and other manipulations. Extracted from the depths of magnetic spattering, that very noise which was fought against during the whole history of using magnetic tape as data storage media. If you fall in love with crystal-clear sound - this is a perfect tool to fall out of this love! Ultra-limited edition, DIY fetish artwork in cardboard sleeve covered with tape and who knows what else. [label info]

Rapoon -- "Raising Earthly Spirits" -- CD -- €12
1993/1999 Soleilmoon Recordings, SOL 65 CD
Rapoon’s album “Raising Earthly Spirits” was released in 1993 by Staalplaat as a limited edition CD packed inside a nifty silkscreened wooden box. It was later reissued in a die-cut digi-pak. “Raising Earthly Spirits” was Robin Storey’s second outing under the name Rapoon, following the 1992 release of “Dream Circle” by Canadian label Death of Vinyl. It was his first release for Staalplaat, and was evocative of his earlier work in Zoviet France, a group he co-founded but had recently left. The music on “Raising Earthly Spirits” features long minimalist ambient textures combined with simple yet effective rhythmic pulses. As is true of all of his musical projects, all of the artwork used on this CD was created by Robin Storey. [label info]

Sigma Octantis -- "Dissipations" -- CD -- €10
2014 OPN Records, OPNCD0025 / Malignant Antibody, Treatment04, (ltd. 500)
Final release from this enigmatic French act, who over their 10 plus year existence, evolved into something very cerebral and innovative, fusing tribal rhythms and percussion with post-industrial and post-rock soundscapes, where cinematic textures and emotive melodies combine to create an eclectic, yet highly detailed and focused listening experience. Sigma Octantis has never been shy about their admiration of Morthound, and while that rings true with Dissipations, they have undoubtedly forged their own identity, the strength of their sound coming from an ability to take a template established 20 years ago, and expound upon it with a distinctive and broad palette of layers and complexities, where the overall arrangement of the tracks is structured and song oriented, but made surreal, unpredictable, and infinitely engrossing. A unique vision has come to pass, but will continue to live on with a strong end statement. For fans of Morthound, Deutsch Nepal, and the latter works of Caul. An OPN release, co-released with Malignant Records (US), limited edition to 500 copies in eco-wallet. [press-release]

Sol Mortuus -- "Ur-Ala" -- CD -- €9
2017 Evil Dead Productions, EDP 019, (ltd. 300)
New album of the Yekaterinburg-based Ritual / Dark / Folk Ambient project Sol Mortuus, like its predecessor "Extinction", is also based on the tales of the Ural people. Compared to "Extinction" the album has more measured, slow and winter mood. Lots of acoustic instruments were used for this recording. Dense mass of cello drones and viscous groan of throat singing make room to the bright flashes of gusli chords, almost electrical vibrations of mouth harp (vargan) and howls of the overtone flute kaluka. Perfect soundtrack for a severe night in a hut lost somewhere in the woods of the Urals.

Te/DIS -- "Interrogation Gloom" -- CD -- €16
2017 Galakthorro, Galakthorro 043
Following the debut album in 2014, and the first live appearances in 2016, we have now Interrogation Gloom, the second album from Tempted Dissident (Te/DIS). It concerns the clear continuation of the familiar sound, an unmistakeable mixture of highly recogniseable vocals with individually tailored elektroniks. These became more analogue, but remain precise and cold, harking back to early Synth-Pop. A confident feel for songs and refined lyrics, are particular features also on this album. However the tracks are even more varied and cleverly connected, making it easier for the Hits to take centre-stage: On this record are darkling hymns such as Ruin Porn and In The Box, other titles develop an earworm quality. Naturally Te/DIS does not make for easy listening and challenges the listener again and again. Thus certainly keeping faith with the Galakthorrö Heavy Listening-Quality conspiracy. CD in jewel case with 12 page booklet. [label info]

Vidna Obmana & Alio Die -- "Echo Passage" -- CD -- €12
2000 Musica Maxima Magnetica, eee 41
Vidna Obmana and Italian soundsculptor Alio Die unite their vision and realized this introspective work of sixty minutes. At times droning and abstract, sometimes ritualistic and ethnic. “Echo Passage clearly lives up to the reputations of Obmana and Musso while offering both ample opportunity to work outside of their ordinary parameters” [Adam M. Bialek, Outburn]

Zahnrad / Hanka -- "1939-1940" -- CD-R -- €7
2017 Valgriind / Glasir CDR Series, 01
Brilliant Death Industrial / Power Electronics collaboration of the two projects dedicated to the events of the Winter War 1939-1940. Cold and severe deadly sound in best traditions of the German PE school, pierced by the icy detached voice reciting poems of the Soviet poets from the newspapers of those days, the sound buzzes, smokes and explodes. Great work, probably the best reflection of this theme in the experimental music! Much more interesting than "White Death" by Grunt. Sleeve. [YAOP]

Da-Sein -- "Death Is The Most Certain Possibility" -- LP -- €25
2017 Galakthorro, Galakthorro 044, (ltd. 529)
12" LP, black vinyl, sturdy cardboard cover, printed inner sleeve, insert card, hand-numbered. [label info]

Dauby, Yannick & Hitoshi Kojo -- "La Vie Dans Les Airs & Dans Les Eaux" -- 10" -- €15
2017 Drone Records / Substantia Innominata, SUB-24, (ltd. 300)
Drone Records is proud to present the first ever collaboration release of these two cosmopolitan sound artists from France and Japan (residing currently in Taiwan and Belgium), based on a variety of field recordings, 'concrete' material improvisations and personal additions done in different parts of the world. We can hear mysterious (micro)-sounds that could come from minerals, stones, plants, or daily objects and instruments - opening up two soundscaping tracks full of wondrous elements, combining the 'concrete' with the sublime and the atmospheric.... lost in the huge network of organic entities in the 'More-Than-Human World' around us. 10" vinyl on black vinyl and with full colour sleeve, lim. 300 copies. cover artwork: ANDREW CHALK. Kopp, Hermann -- "Cantos Y Llantos" -- 7" -- €12
2017 Galakthorro, Galakthorro 042, (ltd. 550)
Hermann Kopp’s adopted homeland influences his new work. In the space of four tracks he transports chunks of Spanish tradition into another world. His world. The result is completely free from folklore and scene cliches. A nightmare turned into sound, where wonderful melodies resist decomposing forces. Alongside nekrodramatic instrumentals, Kopp intones in Spanish, and, due to the recording technique, in a very personal tone – almost intimate – at any rate commendably miserable. 7" EP, black vinyl, sturdy cardboard cover. Te/DIS -- "Interrogation Gloom" -- LP -- €25
2017 Galakthorro, Galakthorro 043, (ltd. 524)
12" LP, black vinyl, sturdy cardboard cover, printed inner sleeve, insert card, hand-numbered. [label info]

V/A -- "Drone-Mind // Mind-Drone Vol. 5" -- LP -- €15
2016 Drone Records, MIND-05, (ltd. 400)
Four "Drones" on one record! Volume FIVE (MIND-05) is OUT NOW (Oct. 2016) and features: GYDJA, CLADE, MONOCUBE, YRSEL. GYDJA: (New Zealand) Enchanting female drone esoterica by an artist who is also known through her stunning artworks for COLD SPRING and other labels. Through magnetic winds and metallic clouds the long track "Gjallarbru" creates a wonderful secretful and sensitive atmosphere; very lonely and frosty, like a cold and clear consciousness released on a high mountain, on top of the world... CLADE: (Scotland / USA) Named after a notion taken from biology science (=Monophylum), this duo is based in Scotland and USA, alluring with very focused minimal drones on so far four releases. The two tracks presented here stand out with their use of somehow refractional, fibrous sounds, placed on monotonus drones with a very sedative and insistent effect... MONOCUBE: (Ukraine) This "ethereal drone" discovery from Ukraine moves musically through endless spaces, creating choral-like aural clouds and strange melodies => self-supporting drones with an incredible width, when even the smallest particles of concrete microsound encountering are exciting, entering into a heavenly "song of the sirens" choir... YRSEL: (France) Another bi-national project is this French-Swedish collaboration of JULIEN LOUVET (2:13 PM, etc.) and C-J LARSGЕRDEN (ONDO), who released three albums so far. Their track "Krstnhmnbrtncrt" consists of very heavy, swallowing drones with atonal elements coming to the surface, diffus and poisonous but also lulling you into a deep (dead) sleep., slowly drowning in dense humming waves of cryptic drones... SOLID SILVER COLOURED VINYL, graphic design by ABBY HELASDOTTIR, using two paintings by British painter PETE GREENING; limited ed. of 400 copies. [label info]

Phillips, Dave -- "Mutations 4 & 5" -- C-60 -- €8
2017 Nazlo Records, NzR068, (ltd. 40)
Sound sources: field recordings made in nature reserves, national parks, non-human habitat. mostly insects, frogs and avians, some mammals, mostly tropical or desert climates. all but 2 recordings are slowed down/time-stretched 60 - 98 %, some are reversed. no electronic sound sources used... thoughts: slowed down field recordings play with time-space dimensions. related to the size of most of the creatures recorded, this game arises: ‘how would i hear/perceive the world if i were an insect (amphibian, avian etc)?’. time-space plays with relations and perceptions of size, speed, frequency, light, sound etc. imagine being an ant in a forest. or a beetle in a desert. or a fish in the ocean. or you in relation to the universe. and how that sounds. these are starting points. just changing dimensions, suggesting different possible parameters... perception changes through immersion - being part of something... distractions and ruptures are to be expected... composed dec 2016 - jan 2017. Atrium Carceri -- "Kapnobatai" -- CD -- €10
2005 Cold Meat Industry, cmi148
Beyond the malignant jail cells and narrow asylum walls, our hidden tormentors laugh at us from a world of smoke and mirrors. Kapnobatai, the third installment from Atrium Carceri, ventures further still into the wretched world beyond the place we so resignedly inhabit, and into the sublimely unkown. Shattered yet enlightened we are thrust forcefully through the illusion of our making, to the ancient sprawling city that is the one true testament to human achievment. The visions of the Kapnobatai (those who walk in smoke) are seen, heard and felt in this genderbending and exquisitely detailed black ambient album from philosopher/visionaire/composer/artist Simon Heath. This is a place of ancient machines, rusty walls and whispered sighs. With lavish attention to detail this profound composition of the mind wrests the listener away from the mundane, perchance never to return. [press-release]

Mastering by Ruelgo (Le Syndicat). Ltd x 500 copies ina 6-panel digipak. [Cold Spring]

Babylone Chaos -- "Les Machines Ecarlates" -- CD -- €10
2007 OPN Records, OPN CD07, (ltd. 500)
A man with a fish eye stared at me when I satisfied my computer with this CD. The artwork on this release is awesome, something which is thoughtful to do when you release your CD in a DVD case. On the front of “les machines ecarlates” stands a man pierced through his forehead with a huge piece of piping. On the back a man with a fish eye gives me a look, which keeps me away from the track listing underneath it. I must say, it pleases me to receive such artwork, I could write a good review about the artwork alone.(...)Listening to the CD I found that Babylone Chaos can be compared, in a strange way, with Aphex Twin. You can hear beats, but they never last longer than a few measures. That is one of the reasons why this CD sounds so great. Babylone Chaos doesn’t care about being tagged with a genre; the artist just does what he wants. The CD isn’t one you listen to on a regular occasion. Listening to “les machines exerlates” is a trip. A trip to the beautiful, the ugly, the frightening the heaven and the hell. [Heathen Harvest]

Babylone Chaos / Lambwool / Le Diktat -- "Shi" -- CD -- €10
2008 OPN Records, OPN CD08
The object you are holding in your hands is special in many respects. The product of a collaboration between three artists with a divergent, and indeed sometimes opposed, approach of music, this work plainly demonstrates how their musical universes ultimately complement each other along three axes – noise, rhythm and melody... The melodies are provided by Lambwool. A talented musician adept at creating musical landscapes fraught with melancholy, he colours the record with layers of keyboards and acoustic instruments samples that conjure up the crystalline, meditative melodies he has become renowned for... Babylone Chaos has long been an avid proponent of chaotic, oppressing climates and deals in suffocation and saturation. The nefarious vapours of his distorted, out-of-joint universe bring a great measure of entropy to this opus... Le Diktat is the only duo involved in this three party collaboration. Le Diktat brings the rhythm to the table. Break-core loops, drum n’bass rhythm patterns, trip-hop, electro and rock elements coupled with scratches create the most unexpected stylistic fusions, even on the most haunting instrumental tracks of this album. The result is a surprising collision between acoustic purity and punishing industrial beats, but a remarkably daring demonstration... Jembes, flutes, scratches, harp, piano, samples; intense episodes or long, meditative soundscapes; sometimes quiet, sometimes heavy with saturation, this work of contrasts displays a thousand faces, takes a thousand forms which will not fail attract any and all who would take a musical journey in unchartered territories. The soundtrack to the End Times! [press-release]

Bad Sector -- "CMASA" -- CD -- €10
2009 Power & Steel, PAS 23
In 2005 Massimo Magrini was invited to provide a soundtrack for the M3M art exhibition in Pisa/Italy. The exhibition was based around images of the seaside and the rivers estuary of Pisana area with CMASA airplane factory built there in it's centre vis a vis of archaic marine cottages. This marvelous seaside scenery mixed with vintage industrial locations, together with some kind of nostalgia, created an unexpected but amazing mood. To sculpture a soundtrack of this scenery Massimo Magrini was asked to use acoustic and natural sounds too and so he added for this work treated piano and snippets of acoustic guitars together with water sounds and metal samples. This may sound unusual for a BAD SECTOR release but all those new elements are perfectly blent into the massive and ambient soundwaves for what previous releases are known for and making CMASA probably to the most emotional album of Massimo Magrini to date. All initial exhibition sounds where regenerated, remastered and re-assembled during 2007-2009. Digipack. [press-release]

Bad Sector -- "Plasma" -- CD -- €10
1998 Old Europa Cafe, OECD 011, 2nd edition
If "Ampos" is the "plastic" masterpiece by Bad Sector this is the "surgerical" masterpice by the Italian industrial master! great conceptual work! sound sources: Magnetosphere, Vostok + Salyut + Soyuz original recordings, Pulsar, High Voltage, Neon... all this sounds are building a unique powerful & pulsing sound sculpture, a great mind experience! The cover presents a series of interesting "electricity / energy" photos! Second print with a new full color re-worked cover! [press-release]

Bad Sector -- "Unification" -- CD -- €10
2013 Old Europa Cafe, OECD 162
After seven years one of the most experimental Bad Sector release, based on the concept of gravitational waves and the unification of forces of the nature, finally found its final form. The original 20 minutes program has been expanded into a full length CD, containing cold (and sci-fi) atmospheres: an amazing soundtrack for your mindtrip to the deepest places of the universe. A really challenging work, thousands of miles distant from the Ampos’ fuzzy harmonies, but strangely still related to it through invisible connections. [label info] According to physical theories, large cosmic events, such as explosions of supernovae and collapses of binary stars, produce big changes in mass configuration. These changes spread as waves all over the universe. Special devices, called gravitational interferometers, have been built to detect these waves. VIRGO, a gravitational interferometer housed near Pisa, in Italy, is the source of “Unification”. This work contains the real, rough signals that VIRGO sent out when it was first checked, together with the target signals, computed by physicists, that VIRGO is looking for. A CDr released in 2006 contained a first short version of this project. The basic original sounds have now been reviewed and reassembled to provide a different, extended release. While keeping connected to the scientific and technical issues, the idea of this project is to emotionally describe the human struggle for a more complete and unified vision of the basic forces of nature. Bad Sector / Contagious Orgasm -- "Vacuum Pulse" -- CD -- €10
2000 Old Europa Cafe, OECD 032
"...From a mere description, this could end up sounding like every other drone and ambient noise release you own, but the fact is that nothing can account for the sheer depth and richness of the sounds on offer here. Everything has an almost organic quality to it, the drones sounding so liquid and deep that they take on a life of their own, both separate and a part of their generative technology - an otherworldly symbiosis of life and machine that stems directly from science fiction. It is hard to distinguish the two different artists' efforts from one another, as their approaches to sound and composition are so alike, especially when focussed towards this common theme. It is, then, almost the perfect collaboration, each artists' talents serving to enhance the other's and producing a work that is not far removed from their usual output, but that has that elusive X-factor of genius and serendipity that quickly ranks this as a classic of modern music. Nearly indescribable, highly recommended." [Gavin Lees, Immanence Records]

Bad Sector & Tommaso Lisa -- "Reset / Rebis Periferiche" -- CD + 3"CD + book -- €17
2005 Old Europa Cafe, OECD 075
For this release Massimo Magrini was joined by the Italian cyberzone-writer Tommaso Lisa. So the album was recorded as conceptual reference to Tom's "Italian neuro-poems" collection "Rebis". Short spoken fragments of the texts are treated and inserted in a sonic structure built with minimal, strangely sincopated pseudo-rytmhs and sharp pulsing noises. The effect of those spoken texts is really disqieting, a very severe & obscure release different from all previous Bad Sector albums. In the background, Bad Sector's trademark chilling micro-melodies completes an upsetting, allucinated but crude vision of our "Collapsing Civilization". The CD is packed inside a book cover, the book contains Tom's neo-futuristic & cyber-poetry. Special edition including an exclusive 3" mini CD with unrelased material from the same recording sessions. [label info]

Cisfinitum -- "Devotio" -- 10" -- €12
2006 Substantia Innominata, SUB-04, (ltd. 500)
The fourth volume in our new series comes from one of the currently best projects of the russian experimental-atmospheric / drone / post-industrial-scene. Main force behind CISFINITUM we find Evgueny Voronovsky, an educated violinist from Moscow. CISFINITUM is a notion by russian poet & writer DANIIL CHARMS, meaning the „logic of the infinite non-existence“, that „something“ that is beyond all rational things. DEVOTIO uses monumental bell-sounds that build complex overlappings & hypnotic drone-waves in various layers, dissolving into pure vibrations. To us It sounds like a journey into the heart of the sacral, pointing at a sphere of transcendence where all questions end. Or begin again. Comes on white vinyl and with great artwork by Berlin-based artworker TILMANN BENNINGHAUS. [press-release]

Column One -- "AntiphoNA" -- 10" -- €12
2013 Drone Records / Substantia Innominata, SUB-18, (ltd. 500)
'ANTIPHONA AD INTROITUM'! Finally on SUBSTANTIA we can present to you the highly regarded German masters of experimental dadaism & de-construction, whose releases are always a thoughtful play with hidden meanings, conceptions & contradictions: 'Learning to play. Disorder. Destruction of programmed Solutions. Learning to see.' COLUMN ONE is a long existing collective of multimedia artists hailing from the Berlin-area with frequently changing members; their performance & artworks are as important as the music (see also their impressive website: www.column-one.de). On this mysterious 10" you will disocver two pieces that sound completely different: ANTIPHONA is a bewildering work of musique concrete, changing between very fast moving collages and quieter parts, always surprisingly fractured, using an amazing quantity of different sound-sources of all kinds. The second piece INTROITUM is a meditative overtone bowl-drone recorded at the legendary "Sibirische Zelle" in Berlin with three microphones in three different rooms, resulting in strange sound-effects and audio interactions. Both tracks can be regarded as anthiponies forming a single whole. For us these are metaphors for the emergence of the "Irrational" and "Sacred" in the daily profane lives, using notions from religious scopes in a new context. Side A ends in an endless groove, the artwork comes from SEAN HILLEN, pressed on bleak vinyl in an edition of 500 copies. [press-release]

2009 OPN Records, OPNCD0010, (ltd. 500)
"French Experimental artist Gerostenkorp produces a tribalistic stomp that treads similar ground in different areas to Pain Teens and Swans. Gerostenkorp provide a futuristic soundtrack that works on subtle atmospheric ambience throughout. Ghostly ambient qualities dominate this album, yet it also changes its approach frequently. "Terre Brulee" seems industrial only in its electronic futurism, yet seems reach out further in its sound and ambitions. There is a sense of seductive French Neu Wave where the song overtakes the ambient passages" (Judas Kiss). Features guest appearances by Von Magnet and Terroritmo, bringing a theatrical dimension to the addictive tribal-oriented rhythmic Industrial soundscapes. Presented in a sumptuous 6-panel digipak. After Herz Jühning has whetted the appetite of so many listeners with his Faces EP, Galakthorrö now is proud to be able to present Herz Jühning's first Longplayer. On Miasma he combines the kinetic energy of Power-Electronics with favourite ingredients from the witches'cauldron of Angst Pop. You will hear brutal bass-drones, nasty electrified currents, pumping analog rhythms and eerie frequency modulations. The sound elements have been ruthlessly selected to emphasise the reductive characteristics, and brought together around the incisive vocals to form an homogenous and complete work of art. Whether ailing popsongs, aggressive noise-attacks, or ominous sound experiments, all is artfully united in the 13 songs found on Miasma. Once more it is Jühning's no-frills arranging technique, that shows itself to be so highly effective on Miasma, just as it made Faces so successful. There is much to discover and Miasma will take the hearts of its listeners by storm! How could it not? CD in matt finish digipac, 16-page booklet incl. lyrics. [press-release]

Hum -- "The Spectral Ship" -- 10" -- €12
2008 Substantia Innominata, SUB-08, (ltd. 500)
Two great new pieces by this Russian artist from the Moscow-area, most sensible & emotional drone-ambience, a graceful dance of acoustic reflections & resonances. "Spectral Ship" and "Tidal Fire" appear like universal mantras, revealing the basic HUM of the universe. These works seem to represent perfectly the concept of the SUBSTANTIA-series: Sound that exists but which is not originating from the impact of two subjects in contact. Sound that is simply "there", with no beginning or ending. Edition of 500 copies on silver-coloured vinyl, with a full colour sleeve design by DANIEL CROKAERT / MYSTERY SEA. [press-release]

Kopp, Hermann -- "Under a Demon's Mask" -- CD -- €16
2008 Galakthorrö 021
Everybody who has seen the Buttgereit films Nekromantik 1+2 and Todesking, has heard of Hermann Kopp. The music he wrote and performed for them is ever-present, pervading the atmosphere and has contributed considerably to the advancement of these films into classics. He still retains to this day his exceptional musical ability, and proves it yet again. Galakthorrö is proud to be able to present 13 new songs from the nekrodramatist: more than 40 minutes of new material, which today - just as it did then - has as its core his dissonantly tempered and individualistic violin playing. Combined with electronics, a host of weird instruments and metal percussion he creates an unequalled gruesome opus, carried by an effectively conceived minimalism, and the most beautiful and haunting Angst melodies imaginable. So morbid and wonderful in fact, that we have to ask ourselves how we could manage to survive for so long without any new material from Hermann Kopp - and which demons were riding him that he had to keep us waiting so long. CD in matt finish digipac, 20-page booklet incl. all texts and lyrics. [press-release]

Maska Genetik -- "Strada" -- CD -- €16
2011 Galakthorrö, Galakthorrö 027
“I’ve reached the limits of my strength” said Amon Radek, and set off in search of a new life. There was to be no place for Maska Genetik, it was too much of a torture to justify those high standards he insisted on. We were astounded and couldn’t believe it, and so we held his album back for some considerable time. Perhaps he wanted urgently to replace one of the songs? An artist of course, has his sensibilities, and a Russian has an additional inbred melancholy. So let us not be too hasty. Over the years we have certainly fulfilled our role as inheritance trustees, and so now we present his first and probably last album. It is all the more regretful, because Maska Genetik represented a pinnacle in the history of Galakthorrö, for us and for many of our listeners. This is obviously the case with Strada. There are songs to be heard that were created before, and after, the sought-after Quarantine EP. Radek’s inner conflicts and his very real suffering have shaped his Angst Pop into its own unique form. We are not presented with self-pity, but with anger and a deep sorrow, at a world fashioned by mankind, in which a future for humanity is hard to imagine... CD in jewel case with 8 page booklet. 2001 Cold Meat Industry, CMI.94

Darker, improved and additionally urging, Make Love, And War / The Wedlock of Equilibrium presents an additional 40 minutes of immaculate equilibrium on the illusive boundary of conjectural extremes. Accompanied by the sounds of acoustic guitars, cyclic soundscapes and martial percussions, Ordo Rosarius Equilibrio presents another ten songs on the threshold of the sensually seductive and morally reprehensible, gospels on the verge of the conjecturally acclaimed and what's soon to be inflamed. Runau, Karl -- "Beyond Frequencies" -- CD -- €16
1999/2000 Galakthorrö 010
There are only a few traces to be found on this record of the industrial flavor of Karl Runaus' early period. For the most part, instrumentally embellished electronic constructions have been skilfully presented in a minimalistic setting. This sound Universe follows its own unique logic. The listener becomes an adventurer and must conquer strange and challenging concepts of harmony and order, and thus becomes irresistibly drawn in by them. A play of contradictions, which is what makes this album so interesting. On the one hand technical and cool, and on the other hand in an unusual way, imperfect and human. Like Kraftwerk's dejected half brother, the forgotten illegitemate son of Kris Kelvin and MU-TH-R 182, that has been created somewhere beyond the frequencies. "Beyond Frequencies" – a trip through the unending expanse of the Universe of Sound. Timeless and not of this world. CD in jewel case, 4-page booklet. [label info]

Subliminal -- "Coping" -- CD -- €16
2006 Galakthorrö 018
Pure terror! With his new album Albert Fisch has created such an impressive inferno of hate that hearing it warms the cockles of the heart! Violent analog electronic and machine noise is skillfully structured by the use of pulsating bass frequencies and aggressive vocal performances. The combination of all these elements culminate in a mighty shockwave that just surges off straight into the central nervous system. Powerelectronics at its best, uncompromising, dirty and trigger-happy! The theme "coping" forms the theoretic and emotional foundation, inspiring and evoking ideas, both acoustic and visual. Since the debut album Gracebudd, the development has continued. Those who appreciated Subliminals' contribution to the Kosmoloko sampler will find Coping a particularly successful follow-up experience. For anyone who wants to re-adjust his hate-wavelengths one more time, here is the right tool for the job. [press-release]

2000 Galakthorrö 013
The first album from the unique Albert Fisch. Here are the sounds of brutal machine-loops and oppressive walls of noise from the battle-fronts of the Information War. The straight-to-the point application of tape-voices made this Inferno part of a consciousness decodifying reality. This is auto-therapy on the highest level. To dance with Gracebudd is a dance with death in the moment of clarity, a special thrill – and it worked – the limited vinyl version was sold out within a few days. CD in jewel case, 6-page booklet. Telefantastico -- "Death Poems" -- CD -- €10
2014 OPN Records, OPNCD0024, (ltd. 300)
"It's the world of ambient meeting down at the industrial lot and as such it sounds very much like something from 1990 - thereabouts. Lots of reverb here too, to generate that extra added atmospheric feel to the music. A most enjoyable release I thought, mostly because it sounded so retro like." [Vital Weekly] "This is a very interesting dark ambient/industrial ambient-type collection that is quite experimental but works well as a coherent whole. More minimal than a lot of dark stuff, usually one or two sounds are the focus, such as the bass synth and metallic sounds. There is some variety here which crosses over into beatier ambient with some chiming percussive sounds. Each title and piece does accurately reflect the state of mind it’s meant to express quite well, as in “Anger”, with it’s dissonant, angular sounds." [Make you own taste]

Troum & Martyn Bates -- "To a Child Dancing in the Wind" -- CD -- €10
2006 Transgredient Records, TR-03
Profound songs inspired by Yeats-poems: The acoustic transformation of the deepest yearning for this release, the German 'transcendental-drone'-duo Troum teams up with the legendary British singer/songwriter and Eyeless In Gaza-member Martyn Bates. More than 2 years in the making, Martyn Bates has sung & played (mouth organ & melodica) over basic material Troum provided - consisting of harmonic minimal loops & basic song structures derived from accordion, e-bass & guitar, percussion, who were then also responsible for the final subsequent additional mastering (adding more guitar-work, voices & balalaika). Martyn Bates has chosen to sing four poems of the famous Irish poet W.B.Yeats, and he did this with a most impressive sensitivity for Troum's very sublime & rather hidden harmonic structures. There are also two instrumentals in a more experimental style on this disc, one being a dark drone reprise of the main piece 'Mad As the Mist and Snow #2.' Martyn's voice is surely not something for everyone - it's of an extreme emotional & yearnful quality that might be not easy to stand - a yearning which is like a deep 'cry out to the horizon,' to something that is unreachable per se, feeling a passion that tears you apart inside. This is pure emotional poetry transformed into yearnful audible spherics! [label info]

Yen Pox -- "Universal Emptiness" -- 10" -- €12
2011 Drone Records / Substantia Innominata, SUB-14, (ltd. 500)
Finally NEW material (two side-long tracks named ABOVE & BELOW) by this cult project from the US, working with deep e-bass sounds to create a really isolationistic mass of darkest cosmic ambience, a kind of "black hole" ur-drone; when you put this on you are immediately touched by the cold breath of an amorph "otherness" - this sound is so monumental and complex that it seems to suspend not only the mind but also the physis, and you experience intensely that both are the same anyway... there's something in this music that lets you really shiver and feel levitated at the same time.. gloriously, the self is dissolving... filed under: DARK OCEANIC! Artwork by the great artist & photographer EYELYFT (eyelyft.blogspot.com) feat. gloss spot printing parts. Lim. edition 500 copies, comes on BLACK vinyl in order to have the best possible sound quality, over 30 minutes of playtime! [press-release]

Yen Pox & Troum -- "Mnemonic Induction" -- CD -- €12
2002/2015 Transgredient Records, TR-11
Completely re-mastered re-issue of this much requested dark dream-opus from 2002, now bringing out more sound details inside the endless amorphous morass; 4 movements, 63+ min. long. Comes with NEW artwork by GYDJA incl. the 'dream essay' by R.B. HENSLEY that should be read accompanying during this subconscious/subsonic experience... "How could this be anything but perfect? Two of the most capable ambient projects of the current generation doing what they do best: dark ambient. I'm tempted to say nothing except that this is exactly what you hope it will be. Dark, escalating, imperious walls and oceans of titanic sound. Swelling currents of icy miasma swirling endlessly on through a descending subterranean river five miles wide. It rumbles and groans and shudders for ages. How does one get so much depth out of sound? .... The listener can penetrate so far into this landscape. The tones are so elaborately pieced together that the forefront is gauzy, wispy, ghostlike. On the horizon are huge stone structures, mountains, tornados of power but far away and almost invisible to the ear. Affecting you only by subsonic booms that rattle the soles of your feet. You can almost step into this and turn around on your heels, face your room and watch your body recede as you slip slowly away on a living ocean of sound." [Malignant Records]
