CDs & CD-Rs

Andersson, Peter -- "Music For Film And Exhibition 3" -- CD -- €10
2013 Wrotycz Records, WRT 018
'Music for Film and Exhibition 3' is, as the name suggests, the third album with film and exhibition music by Peter Andersson (Raison D'Etre). It contains music for various exhibitions from 2011-2013 and also some recently found early sketches for the 'Tulpa' soundtrack, which was released in their full and final versions on the 'Music for Film and Exhibition I'. Technically 'Music for Film and Exhibition 3' is the first album by Peter Andersson which is mastered according to the so called K-14 standard. The K-14 system will ensure that the highest dynamical range will be preserved in the music. It will benefit the listener because the music will simply sound much greater than a hot or over-compressed album. All one need to do is to give an extra push one the amplifier volume control to match the loudness of a hot mastered album. Comes in a 6-panel digipak. [label info]

Bastard Noise -- "Our Earth's Blood IV" -- 5 CD -- €27
2009 Cathartic Process, CP-08
First conceived in 1999, and intensively honed over the past four years, Our Earth’s Blood, IV is finally realized. This is no collection - OEB IV is a full-length album spanning five discs! Few artists in any genre have delved to these depths to create such an expansive communication, in such a deepened language. Bastard Noise, aided by over two dozen artists from all over the world, have reached a true pinnacle with Our Earth’s Blood IV. The list of collaborators: MERZBOW (JAPAN) * ANDORKAPPEN (U.S.A.) * AZOIKUM (GERMANY) * BIZARRE UPROAR (FINLAND) * CHRISTIAN BASS (GERMANY) * CLEW OF THESEUS (U.S.A.) * CULPIS (JAPAN) * DEFEKTRO (JAPAN) * EMESIS (U.S.A.) * GOLEM GROSS (U.S.A.) * GOVERNMENT ALPHA (JAPAN) * GUILTY CONNECTOR (JAPAN) * JAY RANDALL/AGOROPHOBIC NOSEBLEED (U.S.A.) * KELLY CHURKO (JAPAN) * NYARLATHOTEP (U.S.A.) * OBLONG BOX (U.S.A.) * PEACEMAKER (U.S.A.) * P.W.E. Bianchi, Maurizio -- "Industrial Murder / Menstrual Bleeding" -- CD -- €10

Bleak Existence -- "Distress" -- 3"CD-R -- €7

Blessed Sacrifist -- "Timeless Losers" -- 3"CD-R -- €7
2009 FTAM, FTAM-017, (ltd. 50)
Highly introspective and emotionally raw harsh noise/power electronics from the Milwaukee resident. Low synth tones give way to overpowering walls. Member of straight edge PE group xALLxFORxTHISx and doom/sludge outfit Slob Donovan. [label info]

Boar -- "Family Meeting" -- CD-R -- €7
2011 Zvukovina, 0076cdr, (ltd. 25)
Three tracks (60 minutes) with mixture of crunchy and torn harsh textures. Static elements are basically long and pure-dominant but sometimes rough in changes like collages sealed between warm analog feedbacks and tense variations of main wall theme in each track. [label info]

Bocksholm -- "Caged Inside The Beast Of The Forge" -- CD -- €10
2013 Wrotycz Records, WRT 017
The two drunken bastards from Bocksholm (Peter Andersson of Raison D'etre and Lina Baby Doll of Deutsch Nepal) are finally back with a new album and this time they have unleashed the Beast. Any mythological idea that Boxholm has become a great peaceful Eden is from now on eternally disproved. No one is safe anymore, not even the horror of Kisa. Birath - the Beast of the forge - is back and we are all captives inside his devilish mind, at least for 60 minutes after pressing play. Enjoy with a bottle of moonshine. Digipak. [label info]

Bones Of Seabirds -- "Subterranean Lightsource" -- CD-R -- €7
2008 Small Doses, dosethirtyfour, (ltd. 129)
It seems that Ryan McGill is complete unable to cover the same ground twice. This is the fourth (I believe) Bones of Seabirds release, and it sounds nothing like any of the others. This one foregoes the guitars (for the most part) and relies on Ryan's handmade Voice of Saturn synth. The first nearly 35 minute track is intense and brutal - like being strapped into some sort of machine that's boring deeper and deeper into the Earth only to slowly burn you alive. The second gives a bit of respite, but leaves you lost in a dark cave drone. It's not to be missed. Packaged in a folded artwork by Matt Yacoub, with an obi and an insert. [label info]

Demoulin, Julien & IA -- "The Bay" -- CD -- €10
2012 Basses Frequencies, BF40 / Ronda, RND17
A tribute to both a great friendship and the mist-mantled San Francisco Bay Area, “The Bay” is a sprawling forty-minute drone piece recorded and produced in 2009 and 2010 over the course of several journeys between Oakland, California and Brussels, Belgium. Guitar and vocal drones, environmental recordings and flute merge to form an emotional travelogue at the grey boundaries of the dreaming and waking worlds… in celebration of reminiscence, before a darkling dawn, deep under the skies of water… [label info]

Empusae -- "Sphere From The Woods" -- CD -- €10
2013 Ant-Zen, ACT292
Since the very beginning, the addition of acoustic instruments and tribal, ritualistic influences have been an integral part of the omnipresent electronic soundscapes of Empusae. These significant aspects have also been reflected in many of this project's album titles, like f.e. 'The hatred of trees' and 'Organic.Aural.Ornaments'. For his present work, Nicolas Van Meirhaeghe's influences were mainly centred around nature - woods, forests and trees, as well as paintings by his artist friend Christel Morvan (Nesisart), who created the main theme for the album's artwork. Empusae has the talent and the gift to turn all these disparate artifacts into a mature piece of sound. 'Sphere from the woods' is the perfect fusion of natural, organic elements and advanced electronics. It blends a huge variety of acoustic sources, ranging from synthesizers, processed field recordings, ethnical percussions and guitars to quite unusual acoustic instruments like psaltery, chains, plates and several kinds of wood. Orchestral arrangements combined with touching melody lines and precisely set rhythmic syncopation generate an enthralling amalgam of atmospheric ambiance and cinematic elements with a deep ceremonious flow. If a more focused description of Empusae's musical self-image is needed, then you need nothing more that the word 'organic'. And 'Sphere from the woods' is the release where this concept locks in in the most perfect way. Wood has long been used as an artistic medium - this album develops a very new and exciting aspect for manipulating and moulding this structural tissue. [press-release]

The oroginal label info about "Concerts Mixture 10-11" says: "Side A: Consistent mix of live recordings from 2010-2011 captured with a microphone of Zoom H4 recorder. Fluent waves of chtonic sound and subterraneat industrial dark ambient turn into hypnotic loops and concrete acoustic pieces. Side B: Live mic with the materials provided by the projects Ogni Videniy and ZHA, recorded from a mixer to one track. Multi-dimensional choir of ringing percussion and drones, good for some trips and ritual tea parties."

MOHR / Maeror Tri -- "Hafenstadt" -- CD -- €12
2015 Auf Abwegen, aatp19, (ltd. 500)
This music was originally planned to form a part of the third tape box in the MØHR interpretation series of ZNS TAPES. In this series different artists got an individual 30-minutes-piece of basic material by MØHR to be interpreted it in any way: Using it as a backing tape and adding some more tracks, getting inspired and doing something unique in the spirit of the basic material, deconstruct and arrange it anew. The invited artists had any opportunity to re-work the source material. For the actual release the basic material was placed on side A and the interpretation on side B, enabling the listener to compare the basic and the final sound. Three tapes were compiled as one tape box linked by a loose theme. The first box, Bürokratie, contained works by DAS KONZENTRAT, BESTATTUNGSINSTITUT and SUICIDE COMMANDO (released in 1990), the second, Kulturschock, contained works by ANDREW CHALK/DARREN TATE, ECTOPLASMIC EMBRYO EXPERIENCE and FLAGRANTs D’ELI (released in 1991). The third one, which was to contain Hafenstadt by MAEROR TRI (as well as material of PBK and THE HATERS), has never been released due to the sudden end of ZNS TAPES. We’re convinced that this combination of basic stuff plus musical reworking is still an interesting and exciting experience for the audience, maybe especially after more than 20 years in the archives. Mutant Ape / Vomir -- split -- CD-R -- €7
2006 Turgid Animal, TA187

Nad Spiro -- "Tinta Invisible" -- CD -- €10
2007 Geometrik, GRDIGI03
Nad Spiro (Rosa Arruti), fetish player on the experimental music scene, is back with her third solo offering. In "Tinta Invisible" (Invisible Ink) she goes one step further stretching the sonic reach of her guitar and exploring unfrequented audiozones, using what she calls 'sound camouflage', not shy of employing her voice either. With her we discover new magnetizing horizons of electronica, drawn by deeply narcotic cadences. Possibly the least obscure of her three outings to date, in it Spiro plays further with shadows and identities to create her 'Sound-Fiction'; though her musical riddles lean more toward movies by David Lynch or stories by Philip K. Dick. Perhaps what these seductive, indecipherable messages we hear really are is internal communications. As we have come to expect from Nad Spiro, Invisible Ink beggars label or description. It was co-produced by Victor Sol, and includes a special collaboration from Kim Cascone. [label info]

Necrophorus -- "Underneath The Spirit Of Tranquility (Redux Version)" -- CD -- €10
1996/2011 Wrotycz Records, WRT 014
Necrophorus is a project of Peter Andersson (Raison D'Etre). “Underneath the Spirit of Tranquility” is a painted story canvas for the otherwise unreachable astral world. Adorned with esoteric ambience, one feels as though embarking on a path of inner ascension while breathing the immaterial tranquilities. This redux version of 'Underneath the Spirit of Tranquility' (originally released 1996) has been carefully re-mixed for enhanced experience and spiced up with two additional tracks. The artwork consists of drawings by Elinros Henriksdotter. 75mins of music. Comes in a folding outsize cover with 6 card inserts. [label info]

Fabio Orsi, Gianluca Becuzzi and (etre) a.k.a. Salvatore Borrelli are three young Italian musicians with similar backgrounds in the field of experimental soundscapes. They blend electronics, field recordings and acoustic instruments into a fractured tapestry of drones, folk music and sound collages. Like a day dream, the sounds flutter seamlessly from one idea to the next. [label info]

PAM is released through Czech alternative music label Poli5, together with Saaren Levy (Fin) and Meteorismo records (CZ). Divine decomposed audio tape psychedelia, random rhythm passages, free Howl, tape echo chimes, lunatic squeaks, driving super lo-fi beat, disrupted sound collage, the discovery of a strange harmonic sound patchwork, heartbroken throat singing and space orbital sounds. For the great pleasure and distress of the dear listener. With a careful touch of butcher and Thai masseur Mäkelä cuts familiar yet alienated sound materials together and creates vibrating musical dishes for your ears. [label info]

Theodor Bastard -- "Vetvi" -- CD -- €10
2015 Theo Records, Theo 005
New album by Theodor Bastard, one of the most eclectic and mystical bands from Russia. It’s difficult to define the Theodor Bastard style. Musicians skillfully combine different styles, trip-hop and rock. They give amazingly brilliant shows, using all their numerous exotic instruments, from the tibetian horns to jambeys and gusli. Theodor Bastard release their albums not so often, working for months in various recording studios in several cities and countries, searching for the best sound and arrangements. Work on this album took three years with plenty of musicians taking part in it. Among them are the famous buryat singer Namgar Lhasaranova, multi instrumentalist Phillip Barsky, talented Olga Glazova, who plays the world’s largest gusli. Lead singer Yana Veva has reached new heights with her unique vocal technique. Continuing the theme of wanderings, which was the basic idea of the previous album "Oikoumene", Theodor Bastard take their listeners from hot south to the fairy northern lights. "We travel Russian north every year," - says the band leader Fedor Svolotch. - "Now it's time for us to turn to our culture, our country and our roots. There are our places of power, the places where stones and winds are talking to us. New album is a song of the northern harsh nature". A peculiar combination of the archaic percussions and folk instruments was used during the recording. Playing unusual ethnic instruments is still the important part of Theodor Bastard creative process. Russian horn, traditional Mongol violin morin khuur, tibetian ritual horn dunchen, ancient Russian gusli, cajon, vargan, dulcimer (string instrument like citra) - this is just a short list of musical miracles on the album. Tens of musicians were engaged in creating of sound kaleidoscope. That was a serious and laborious work. String instruments bring deep melodism and dramatism. There are morin khuur by Yana Veva, violin by Gulya Naumova and cello by Natalia Nazarova. They harmoniously strung on ritual rhythms of drums and percussions by Kirill Serov. Choir "Lauda" adds ancient masculinity to the album sound, as well as an outstanding vocalist Alexander Platonov (Ensemble of ancient peasant music). Magic sound of gusli by Olga Glazova, harps and cymbals by multi-instrumentalist Philip Barsky decorate some songs, and great vocals by Buryat singer Namgar give a special atmosphere of northern dawn to one of the songs on the album. Tilmil -- "Cough Syrup" -- CD-R -- €6
2015 Latona, Latona 04
Abstract Hip-Hop. Masterfully, inexorably and passionately, just like W.S. Burroughs, Tilmil takes the listener to the Sleeping Son city with its eternal darkness and purple glow, in its charming ruins, to the twilight bar "Cough Syrup"... Tilmil - a 20 y.o. man from the far north of the Komi Republic - has not only performed at such international festivals as Dark Ecology / Sonic Acts (Norway / Holland) and Electro-Mechanica (Russia), but also got the respect from the Austrian label Laton... The tracks are a mix of beautifully composed ambient soundscapes and blasts of harsh noise in similar style to past recordings. [label info]

Wastelanders -- "Cosmic Despair" -- CD -- €10
2012 Basses Frequences, BF39
Wastelanders second release finds Dean Costello (also of Harpoon and Diatribes) exploring the unfathomable depths of Cosmic Despair. The 53 minute epic expands and contracts, drifting on through a woefully auspicious expanse of ambient, vocal-less guitar and organ suites. Textures condense and grow, gradually coming forth, and as the album unfolds it builds in depth and dimension. Waves of spacious flotation accompanied by trolling, lulling bass frequencies lead us head first into the glorious abyss. [label info]

Mostly songs about Llanfairfechan and wishing I was still there... some songs about how shit the City is... some about not being able to sleep... a couple about my teeth. Lizzy Huthwaite plays violin on a couple of tracks and everything else is by Edwin Stevens. Dedicated to dbh - a total legend. Sorry Mum!" LEVENSHULME BICYCLE ORCHESTRA: "The group operates in an as yet undefined area between intuitive ritualised musical theatrical performance and shared collective improvising around musical and lyrical themes developed by all members of the group. There are various aims and objectives: 1) To function as an accepted method of therapy for members to express and explore ideas and behaviors in forms that would be unacceptable outside the realms of performance. 2) As a theoretical machinery that allows the musicians and audience to interrogate their own ideas of the boundaries and interrelations between sound, music, tone, vibration, movement, theatre, performance, spectacle, art, and catharsis. 3) As an ongoing process of instrument building, adaptation and reclamation from that which is not specifically an instrument but with which sound can be made. This use of scrap, discarded and recycled objects rebuilt as instruments locates a utilitarian power with the players and for anyone who wants to imagine and construct their own instruments." + AMON DÜDE. Ruppert, Freddy -- "Wait" -- C-20 -- €7
2012 NNA Tapes, NNA047
Deviating stylistically from his previous work with Former Ghosts and This Song Is A Mess And So Am I, Los Angeles-based musician Freddy Ruppert has constructed a forboding collage of churning industrial soundscapes. “Wait” is a highly personal collection of deliberately anti-climactic processed acoustics, from glassy piano fragments to deep, rumbling bells. While remaining bestial and dark, the sounds on “Wait” retain an emotionally complex and organic energy; a calculated exercise in tension and restraint, existing intimately in a place of no resolution. Strup -- "s/t" -- MC -- €5
2015 Nazlo Records, NzR021, (ltd. 30)
New cassette release from the cult noise project from Bobruysk, Belarus. This time without hair and teeth, but all covers are unique and hand-crafted by the author personally on the flood plains of Belarus in application-pictural technique in abstractionist psychedelic manner. The cassette features two half-hour tracks, so it's unclear if this is an album or an EP. [label info]

Telooperator -- "Crions" -- MC -- €5
1999/2015 NEN Records, NEN01, (ltd. 33)
Telooperator is a ‘salute’ smelling of low-end port "Agdam" and iron red-hot with the sun from Rostov-on-Don of Russian "dashing nineties". The only record of Telooperator, Crions, is soaked in science fiction. At the same time this is a full-blooded commentary on Russian reality of millennium end, which was fun and scary as the world was bulging at the seams. Still Crions value should not be reduced to an archive value. It is something more than a sample of an early wave of Russian post-industrial, a product of the age of net-zine RWCDAX and SEVER mailing list. This is a demonstration how absence of map or ignorance of genre boundaries promotes discoveries. A minimalistic burst of power electronics slipping into catatonic pseudo-techno sounds fierce, sometimes naive, but always refreshing and well-timed. Recorded by Konstantin Mezer (SAL SOLARIS) in 1997-1998. First version appeared on now defunct Moscow label Grief Recordings in 1999. Remastered in 2015 by Arnold_pR (REUTOFF). Cover photo: Polina Vrublevskaya. [label info]

Adriva -- "Cuore Mini" -- CD-R -- €8
2008 Observatiore 18, (ltd. 18)
Ritual old school industrial from Rostov-on-Don, Russia.

Aeterna Anima -- "Chaos Of Noise And Silence" -- CD-R -- €8
2002 self-released
The project from Tomsk, Russia, consists of only one person Const N.F. Griph who is responsible for programming and lyrics sounding on this album, and this is a great example of how ti create good and diverse material using minimum of equipment. 80 minutes, 19 tracks - a serious volume, especially since it has been composed during 3-4 months in early 2002. But this doesn't mean anything bad - on the contrary, every sound is processed with a responsible attitude, maybe only distortion is used a bit roughly and excessively, but the whole picture stays fine. There is some stylistical range, but it lies between the related genres - coming from the area of Noise through Dark Ambient into Drone Ambient. Some tracks are quite aggressive and tend to Genocide Organ and other pillars of this genre. SOme of the tracks are very mild, with low frequency background, easy ambiental pseudo-melodies, bells, and nice atmospheric lyrics spoken by male and female voices. You can hear the use of different effects - reverb, echo, panning - but at the same time everything's so simple and minimal. The overall feeling of this album is very positive. [Ultima-Ratio]

Passionate folk, rich of eastern and oriental characteristics, skillfully combined with experimental acoustic ambient layers, and a female voice that is haunted by melancholy. Agnivolok is Near Life Experience—traditional music for spiritual travelers. [press-release] Reissue of LP previously published by now defunct German label StateArt with bonus track. Mournful female voice in company with lots of acoustic (guitar, bass, piano, harmonium, etc.) and electronic (samples, effects) instruments. Israeli import.

All Hail The Transcending Ghost -- "s/t" -- CD -- €11
2009 Cold Spring, CSR122CD
Dark Ambient / Guitar Drone. The debut album from All Hail The Transcending Ghost - a joint collaboration between Henrik Nordvargr Björkk (MZ.412, Toroidh, Folkstorm etc) and Tim Bertilsson (Fear Falls Burning, Switchblade). Together the Swedish legends have created arguably one of the most haunting drone-dark-ambient-industrial works in recent years, invoking the spirits of old Nordvargr, meets the sludge-doom vibe of Tim's hellish guitar. This has to be the most unsettling work from Nordvargr, as the man himself states "truly the most scary music I have recorded". An icy chill down your spine... a cold hand on your shoulder... you are never alone in the darkness. [press-release]

Brandkommando –- "Three Strikes And You Are Out" -- CD -- €11
2011 Sickcore, SC23, (ltd. 300)
New work by restless Polish musician deals with European capitals burning in fires. City anarchy, street wars, violence and terror. The musician most likely stands at the same side of barricade with rebelling society, in front of which like soldiers of the Evil Empire stand up legions of dogs of system. Crushing analogue outrage of sonic violence, raging vocals, cultural and street terrorism. This release can be compared to such sonic hooligans as Grey Wolves, Barrikad, Survival Unit, etc. [UFA Muzak]

Brighter Death Now -- "Necrose Evangelicum" -- 2 CD -- €18
2008 Cold Meat Industry, cmi179
Recorded during 1995 – that most creative of years for Brighter Death Now, which also produced the much harsher album Innerwar, as well as the final part of the epic “Great Death” trilogy – Necrose Evangelicum was immediately received as a new milestone in the genre of “sacred-death-industrial.” In fact, the album had the most favorable reception of any BDN record, and has generally been considered the most easily accessible of BDN’s work. In order to once more make this groundbreaking album available, we have gone back and digitally restored, remastered and remixed the tracks to give them the facelift they so richly deserve. This new edition of Necrose Evangelicum is presented in a beautiful foilprinted digipak together with a “live” CD recorded during the same era. Actually the “live” CD is the recording of a rehearsal for a concert in Vaasa, Finland, which ended up never taking place! The permission of the organizers ran out, and the evening came to an end, before BDN had an opportunity to take the stage. [label info]

2005 New Old Sentinel, Sentinel-CD-01, (ltd. 500)
New Old Sentinel is a subdivision of Neuroscan.Org run by Jasse TUUKKI also STROM.ec member. This second album by CLOAMA offers very obscure industrial with ambient and experimental touches dealing with frequences, radiations and waves as well as their possible effects on nature, mind and body… Strange and quite subtile, evocative, deep atmospheres are developing along the five tracks/43 minutes of this CD enhanced by some frightening, hostile and weird elements setting off thebeauty of the the whole and revealing a contrast between peaceful apparences and things behind the mirror… Reminding us of some SCHLOSS TEGAL works. Recommended! Matte printed colour cardboard in A5 plastic sleeve. Edition of 500. [press-release]

Deison -- "Night Sessions" -- CD -- €10
2011 Silentes Minimal Editions, sme 1149
A collection of fascinating and obscure nocturnal sessions alternating "classical" electronic inspiration parts based on sequencers and synthetizers to more abstract and minimal sonic episodes, deep drones, musical mix ups, distorted and extended guitars, deformed human voices, static and moving more typical "ambiental" movements, cold insets of more pulsing and "techno oriented" sounds, suggestive atmospheres build on bizzare loops, more typically "glitch" inserts and hisses... a great collection of collaborations with Teho Teardo, Philippe Petit, Under the Snow, Jim Coleman, Franck Vigroux, Testing Vault, Annen Berg. Dervenn -- "Gwad Roueel" -- CD -- €10
2012 The Eastern Front, Front 031, (ltd. 500)
Dervenn in Breton means «oak», the sacred tree of the ancient Celts. Wood is the matter of our instruments and our breath is the «wind that shakes the Barley»… even if we are living in the era of digital and numeric realities. The soul is still musical and deeply tainted by the landscape of Brittany, by the musicality of it, by the symbolism of it. Arthur, Perceval, Merlin, we still share their quest for truth and beauty when riding our cars… No commercial folklore, no infatuated «world» or «ethnic» music, no archeological mythology nor so-called traditionalism. Just our true modern Breton music. Beauty and breath of the arthurian past speaking a present day, but not vulgar, musical language. «Gwad Roueel» («royal blood») is the first act of the quest, a personal and emotional evocation, using both traditional «celtic» instruments (bag pipe, Breton oboe, transverse flute, Irish whistle and bodhran) and modern ones. Invention and respect of the past are the key words, poetry, melody and strength are the feelings one gets from listening to this musical travel through the lights and darkness of human quest for purity and beauty… [press-release]

Des Esseintes -- "Les Diaboliques" -- CD -- €10
2005 Malignant Records, TUMOR CD23
If Magnus Sundstrom's more well known project The Protagonist is DrJekyll, then his side project, des Esseintes can certainly be seen as a MrHyde... a more sinister alter ego, bent on destructive behavior, representing a liberation of the dark side and a more primitive being, that once freed from the bonds of conscience, becomes harder and harder toc ontrol. And thus, we have des Esseintes. Based on a collection of short stories by Jean-Barbey d'Aurevilly, Les Diaboliques is the first full length album for des Esseintes, and it's truly a masterwork. The result is an existentialistic inferno of various musical trash and harsh rhythms, with clanging, mechanized percussion barely cushioned by a menacing ambience of cinematically styled electronics igniting the background. These are dark regions explored on the six tracks here, populated by stomping behemoths that threaten to crush with every step, and shards of visceral, dynamic textures that slice across the proverbial sonic landscape. And while Magnus' work has certainly garnered recognition, Les Diaboliques may just solidify him in the lexicon of the industrial public, or take him to a whole new level. Greatly appealing to not only fans of old school greats such as SPK and Test Dept, but to thosefans of CMI and even some Hands material. [press-release]

Dronaement -- "Allein... Unter Menschen" -- CD-R -- €8
2004 AFE Records, afe051lcd, (ltd. 150)
Dronaement is active since 1997 and is the main musical project of Marcus Obst who lives in the South area of what once was East Germany. Marcus is also involved in the Das Rhythmische Ornament experimental drone-punk duo and runs a small label called Nauze [Muzick]... After a few amazing tape albums he joined the Drone Records serie with the "Wassermond" 7", which was based on a collaboration with Jim De Jong, followed soon by a split LP with The Infant Cycle (Jim De Jong again....). Since then he released some marvellous solo CD-R albums on Dachstuhl, Nauze [Muzick] and Mistery Sea that everyone with an even small interest in Drone / Experimental music should immediately put their hands on. An "analog drones meet muffled guitars" collaboration with french guitarist Rabbit's Sorrow (Sebastien Roux) was also released on CD by Le Cri De La Harpe. "Allein... Unter Menshen" is the fully remastered re-version of the tape originally released on Nauze [Muzick] back in 1999. The first long track entitled "Allein..." was recorded using an electric organ as the only sound source. It is a beautifully calm drone played on the G tone, which is the tone of the day, and is meant to induce a state of meditation into the listener. "...Unter Menschen" is another very long track, some kind of a floating collage constructed from hours of field recordings taken in a big railstation hall in Leipzig, Germany. The last track, "Abriss" is a short but beautiful exclusive addition to this CD-R re-release... Dronaement is clearly one of the most talented drone-based music project around and "Allein... Unter Menschen" is a nice rediscover of one of his earliest releases. [label info]

Over the banks of melt waters in last whisper of fierce winter comes Wendigo's breath. From beneath the roots bound by blizzard, behind the ancient bark, in the stone heart of the forest comes this music - metaphysical incarnation of the spirit of winter Frost and Hunger. A borderline between autumnal and winter cycles, the only attempt to hide in wolf grass and survive in Snowstorm. A call of blood from the far North. Second full-length of Esche released by common will of the labels Valgriind и Alarmstufe prod. Field recordings, guitar, mouth harp, synthesizers, voice, percussion & various electronics summoned to document this mysterious ritual. This time the artwork is made by Sergey Ilchuk (Vresnit & Vetvei Art). 186 copies, full-colour cardboard sleeve + inserts. [press-release]

Fahl -- "The Paths To Emptiness" -- CD -- €10
2010 The Eastern Front, Front 027, (ltd. 1000)
Fahl is much more complicated and interesting than many many albums in "dark ambient" style (if we keep calling a variety of musical creations this way). It tells a story. Vivid, exciting, emotions driven story about "gateways to the occult and hidden forces of the inner self" - thus musician themeselves described the idea. I would just add that this music is about what rests deep inside of human mind and soul and about what we hardly think and talk in daily fusiness. [label info]

Fire In The Head -- "Carrion Wind" -- CD -- €10
2009 Turgid Animal, TA389
Since resuming recording this past Autumn, F/I/T/H’s work has taken a new direction. "Carrion Wind" is an ambitious work which consolidates the sounds explored with F/I/T/H and Sky Burial into a single project, focusing them into a complex and meticulously composed 63 minute industrial opus, a dark and ominous dirge, both beautiful and brutal, incorporating aspects of metal percussion, dark ambient, drone, doom and industrial electronics. Noticeably absent are Page’s vocals as F/I/T/H takes a more "restrained" approach favoring slow layering of synths, field recordings, guitar loops and electronics to build a tension which occasionally peaks at an explosive level comparable to the shorter tracks of F/I/T/H’s previous releases. Foundation Hope -- "A Call to all Redeemers" -- CD -- €10
2006 Divine Comedy Records, DC 042, (ltd. 500)
The music of Foundation Hope creates pieces of dramatic's film music. The one that just reach you "au plus profond des meandres de l'inconscient". The band is influenced by ambient-acts like Raison D’etre, Lustmord, or Robert Rich, but also post-rock acts such as Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Low and Mogwai. Intense and radical with a very 80's feeling always appreciated here, at the Divine Comedy Record headquarter. This release comes in a limited digipack, presenting landscapes illustrated by choirs, echoing & heavy menacing atmospheres. Sad and bleak soundscapes for a depraved religious institute, pretending to give comfort and light... [press-release]

Funerary Call -- "Dark Waters Stirred" -- CD -- €10
2010 Fall Of Nature Records, FN02
Funerary Call is a project of Canadian musician Harlow MacFarlane also known for his project Sistrenatus. Funerary Call was formed in 1993 and is heralded as one of the progenitors of black ambient music. Now the project returns from dormancy with his darkest release to date. "Dark Waters Stirred" is a ceremonial maelstrom of ominous electronics and dark ambient textures, an audial descent into ritualistic obscurity and misanthropy. Features guest appearances from the likes of Deathlord (Blasphemy, ex-Conqueror), and Troy Southgate (H.E.R.R., Seelenlicht) amongst others. [label info]

H.W.R. / Hatekod -- "Totenmarsch / Anti-NWO" -- CD-R -- €7
2011 Ufa Muzak, UFA 43, (ltd. 131)
Martial industrial ambient / Postmortem power electronics. Conspiratorial underground. Red light illuminates the hands. Faces covered with masks. The noise of heavy leather shoes. Cloths with images of old symbols on the walls. New secret fire is modelling in front of their concentrated eyes. Echo is heard through narrowed consciousness - an old German song. Split of two clandestine projects from France, a pile of black & white photographs scattered on a table: archive and modernity. H.W.R. - wakeful ghosts of the past, in absolute silence, on the places of old battles, they come out and become visible. Old discoloured uniform with hardly seen badges, pale hair and faces, whisper. Hatekod - fragments of modernity where the idea spreads turning into growing red branch on a map. From a screen hissing with snow shows up the footage of streets drenched in blood and houses with forbidden symbols drawn. Dark, malevolent and hoax filled audio document, a deadly strain transmitted in encoded form... 10 tracks, 45 minutes, A5 cardboard cover, insert. [press-release]

Haare -- "Madon Evankeliumi" -- CD -- €10
2010 At War With False Noise, ATWAR091, (ltd. 500)
It's taken long enough but I'm chuffed to finally be doing a release with one of my favourite noise (I sue this in the loosest term) artists going around right now, Finland's Haare. This is total swirling psychedelia, incredibly heavy shifting tides of drone with evil organ lines permeating the noise. I can't better the description Haare himself gave it: "a slow, heavy bell". Based on source sounds provided by Olly Pearson, Chris Chantler and Dom Finbow. You may have heard of them! 500 copies in an A5 pro-printed foldover wallet and PVC sleeve. Amazing art by Andrew Labanaris (Electric Wizard and MOSS). [press-release]

After having delighted in a few excellent tapes and a LP it is time to enjoy this first CD of the duet from Gothenburg, Sweden. Dan Johansson and Matthias Andersson are some of the best at what they do. The noise is solid, dense like lead, free of intricate experiments and gloomy pathos. It is made of simplicity and power. Pure pleasure. [press-release]

The debute recording of a young Danish project clearly shows that everything sooner or later comes in a full circle: powerful analogue old school industrial with elements of power electronics played on simple electronics, stompboxes and live feedbacks, filtered throught the prism of new generation weltanschauung and released on a magnetic tape. The project's music is inspired by industrialization and the relationship between man and machine. Must have for the fans of raw but quality-made old school!

Hypsiphrone -- "And The Void Shall Pierce Their Eyes" -- CD -- €10
2011 Black Plagve, INFECT09, (ltd. 500)
Debut album from this one man project from Greece, and a new entry into the Black Plague roster, fitting right in with label mate’s Sewer Goddess in its ability to create innately evil and impure sounds, integrating elements of doom metal, black metal, and dark experimentalism into the pure industrial horror that constitutes the majority of this release. The result is nothing short of absolute and abject dread; 8 tracks spanning an hour worth of material… an auditory overload that’s completely immersive, and at times overwhelming, where heaving masses of percussive doom collide with shuddering machinery dirge, ghoulish and nightmarish ambience, torturous screams, and cinematic depravity, the sounds layered into a tangled and abstract tapestry of something completely epic and nearly majestic in its scale. Fans of Gnaw Their Tongues, Abruptum, and “Necrose Evangelicum” era BDN will do well to wallow in the oozing blackness and unbridled malevolence Hypsiphrone has created. Lmtd 500 copies, in 6 panel digipak. [press-release]

Jarl -- "Wound Profile" -- CD -- €10
2007 Autarkeia, acd 024, (ltd. 500)
The album Wound Profile by Erik Jarl, the genius of Swedish electronics, previously released in a cassette, has now, after some processing of the record, come out as a CD in a very elegant digipack. The album consists of two record sessions: one of them (6 tracks) was recorded by Erik in 1999, while the other (one track) was recorded 18 months later. Those closely following the music of the Scandinavian master may recognise the early sound of Erik’s compositions in Wound Profile album that at certain points even remind the first IRM records. Clear-cut, abnormal, psychedelic rhythmics, its distorted, massive repetitions, analogous loops of synthetic sound generate the emotions of anxiety, morbidity and degeneration. Unlike Erik’s later music marked for its abstract structure and closer to drone style, the album Wound Profile can be characterised by emotional straightforwardness and brutality. [press-release]

Jazkamer -- "Balls The Size Of Texas, Liver The Size Of Brazil" -- CD -- €10
2007 Purple Soil, pulse zero: four
If "diverse" is the very word for JAZKAMER duet (John Hegre + Lasse Marhaug), it also seems to be the best "Balls the Size of Texas, Liver the Size of Brazil’s" description. None of the band’s previous full-length albums were same or similar to each other, so are(n’t) the "Balls". If "Panic" is band’s ultimate blues record, "Balls" are band’s "London Calling", with each song different not only within the album, ranging from harsh noise outburst to calm to dreamy guitar ambiences. But the blues is still in and on with simple artwork, consisting strictly of landscape pictures to underline the album’s misty, dreamy, nostalgic atmospheres. Full length CD, paper fold-out cover. The Kali Ensemble -- "s/t" -- CD -- €10
2011 Phage Tapes, PT:113 / Turgid Animal, TA578, (ltd. 500)
The Kali Ensemble is a duo of Mike Page (Sky Burial, F/I/T/H, Irukandji) and Pentii Dassum (Umpio). This disc contains 2 33:33 minute tracks of industrial metal clanging, ambient atmospheres and creepy synth work. The style/personality of each member really comes through in each track of this collaboration and provide an interesting combination of their viewpoints. Check out the samples so you can hear what it sounds like and i dont have to sound any more like a dumb ass trying to come up with a crazy description of the compositions. [press-release]

Korperwelten -- "Avatars Of Rape And Rage" -- CD -- €10
2008 Malignant Records, TUMOR CD36
Having started the process way back in 2002, this collaborative project between Swedish powerhouse Nordvargr and US apocalyptic industrialists Navicon Torture Technoloies finally sees the light (so to speak) in 2008, having been re-worked and re-structured as a perilous 40 minute plunge into a black hole of sound. Waves of grim, doom filled atmospheric sludge crossbred with buzzing black drones, grinding distortion, and a seething underbelly of rhythmic pulsations, ultimately delivering everything you might expect from these two giants of the industrial scene. In 6 panel digipak, with extreme and controversial, Jonathan Canady (http://art.malsonus.com/) designed artwork sure to be banned if it falls into the wrong hands. [press-release]

Lethal Dose 50 -- "21st Century Awakening" -- CD -- €18
2006 Nuit Et Brouillard, NB CD 05
LETHAL DOSE 50 is the poison dose injected into the veins of persons sentenced to the death penalty in some states of the United States.… but LD50 is also a Belgian trio which has been existing for years in the fields of electronic musics. After a self-released first tape and a first CD-R, we are proud to offer you the first fullength CD by this talented unit. Using some digital instruments – synths, samplers- as well as some analogue ones –synths, rhythm’n box, effects-… LD50 develops an atmospheric music which is at the same time dark but warm, cosmic and experimental, melodic and deep, meditative but aware, often underlaid by some sampled voices and sound-collages, sometimes intermingled with/ intersected with some hypnotic rhythms. Being fully mastered and definitely original compared to some nowadays releases from the dark-ambient genre, "21st century awakening" will both appeal to the nostalgics of the 70ies and 80ies sonorities -old-school space-electronics from the 70ies and 80ies such as TANGERINE DREAM, NOCTURNAL EMISSIONS-.as well as to the lovers of some nowadays dark ambient acts such as SCHLOSS TEGAL, INADE, HERBST 9 or FIRST LAW… LD 50 is certainly the sole musical project able to set a bridge between these two tendencies, these two sounds, these two periods… Fans of sterilized lap-top generated or of cheap new-age ethno-ambient can go their way. "21st century awakening" will appeal as much to the soul as to the body, to the mind as to the heart. At first listening, this record may seem a little bit strange to you, like being out of phases, but the following listenings will draw you into an endless spiral similar to the one painted on the sleeve. Allow yourself enough of freedom for that... CD re-mastered by Christian RENOU, housed in an original A5 size silk-screened fold-out cover. Paintings by Leyla ERSEN. 64 minutes/10 tracks. [press-release]

Lunde, Eric (aka Trait) -- "Inspirationals" -- CD -- €10
1988/2009 Industrial Recollections
Back in 1988 Arbeit Group label released obscure industrial-noise release by project called TRAIT. A-side of the tape includes several different arrangement for inspiration in battle. B-side included several of those arrangements combined together for temporary unified action. 45 minutes of most primitive analogue destruction, leaving no place for easylistening or relaxing moments. Even with the atmopheric and dark moment, sound is extremely decayed and coarse sound of tape loops, manipulation and electronics which transforms it to difficult industrial-noise. Years after the original release, personnel behind it has been officially declassified. Trait is one of the most vicious works of Eric Lunde, known for 80's masterpieces under his own name and legendary industrial group Boy Dirt Car. Releases on V2 archief, RRR, AWB, Powertech Industries. "Inspirationals" is carefully reflecting the original tape as accurately as possible. Material is transferred from original master tapes to CD by artist himself, leaving everything 100% as is. There is 2 long pieces (A and B side) with no mastering, no cleaning up, no boosting. Artwork is faithful to the original release, replicating the it as accurate as possible. This is the first release by Industrial Recollections label, aimed for re-issuing sold out pe/industrial/noise releases for fanatical audience. [press-release]

Maeror Tri -- "Meditamentum" -- 2 CD -- €14
1994/2013 Zoharum, ZOHAR 046-2 / New Nihilism, NN X, (ltd. 500)
After a successful reissue of a long-lost classic "Emotional Engramm", MAEROR TRI returns to Zoharum and New Nihilism with another album. This time it is a double, deluxe reissue of both volumes of "Meditamentum" (released previously on Holonom and Manifold respectively). Unavailable for many years, "Meditamentum" is a collection of tracks culled from tape releases and rarities hidden on many compilations. It spans the whole existence of Maeror Tri, starting with 2 tracks from 1989 ending with 3 tracks from 1996. It is a sort of "best of" Maeror Tri, as it tells the story of the bands progress. From rough edges of "Peak Experience" to dreamy soundscapes of "The Beauty of Sadness". "Meditamentum" is also a document of the underground tape scene of the 1980s and 1990s, and of a genius of MAEROR TRI as purveyors of mind-altering sonic experience. It's "Music for the Brain" at its best. The release is presented in a lavish gatefold Japanese vinyl replica designed by Marcin Lojek (Ibsendesign, responsible also for the cover for Zoharum's reissue of "Emotional Engramm"). Each volume is extended with a bonus track making the whole collection 155 minutes long and comprising of 23 tracks. The sound is greatly enhanced by our remastering wizard Lukasz Miernik. "Meditamentum" is co-released by Zoharum and New Nihilism to give you the maximum sonic experience. This double CD is strictly limited to 500 copies. [press-release]

Merzbow -- "F.I.D." -- 2 CD -- €10
2006 Fourth Dimension Records, FD2CD70
Three recordings from December 2005 and January 2006 on each disc. "F.I.D.' (Fur Is Dead) follows the lead of the recent 'Minazo Vol. 1', the tracks are coated in defined melodies and ultra noisy denser textured ambience, the use of guitar feedback taken to a new sculptured level. Each track here is very different, not staying in one set of sounds, which makes it a wonderfully balanced double album... In the top two or three Merzbow releases for this year and in the top ten releases of the last few years. Another clear example of an artist, performing at the height of his powers. When the Canadian "avant metal / drone doom"-duo NADJA (who name TROUM as one of their early influences) and the German post-industrial / experimental drone pioneers TROUM (years ago active as MAEROR TRI who are still discovered by many drone-fans these days) combine their exceptional styles, they form something even vaster as usually known from them. These three long collaboration tracks were recorded as a result of a spontaneous improvisation in April 2008 "live in the studio" near the Weser-river in Bremen, Germany, and suck you in with their powerful & emotional drone melancholy that works in many micro-& macrocosmic ways, using electric & acoustic guitars, bass, accordeon, drum-machine & voice. ZONA INCERTA builds a very dimension of its own, totally hazy and foggy sounds ebb and flow in and out...water and metal-sounds are recognizable in the sound-field, high insect-frequencies intertwine with all kinds of strange noises and animal sounds... Pale Roses is a new musical project from France (more precisely - from Bretagne) which plays neo-folk in its classical pure manner. Neo-folk typical sound becomes recognizable from the very first guitar accords and songs through the whole album, all its 10 compositions... The album is inspired, influenced and I would say even derives from Sol Invictus and there is its own specific charm in this thing. It is not about mindless copying Sol Invictus style, it is about Arnaud's view of Sol Invictus music that is converting into his own unique musical world which is called Pale Roses. [label info]

Predominance -- "Dark Stars Unfolding" -- 2 CD -- €26
2005 LOKI Foundation, LOKI40
Arisen from the fields of white ashes and bathed in tears of the world's genocidal slavery Predominance started 1995 to drown in the ruins of an unconcious mind. The evolution of Gerd Zaunig's project was mystified by the leaming beauty of a silver ship and ended illuminated at the threshold to astral gates on nocturnal skies. This "Dark Stars Unfolding" is an essential journey through the mind of the south saturn delta into the polar stargate. The circle of the four symbols is closed and the work of Predominance will remain in the ungained gorge of a swelling universe... After nearly 10 years of activity and with just three regular albums in this decade Gerd Zaunig placed with Predominance one of the main pillars in the wide area of dark ambient music. The unique sound of Predominance combines dense and atmospherical soundscultures with symphonic structures, pulsating rhythms and visionary-majestic vocals. This double album now marks the final release of Predominance as the project already ended in 2003. Devided into 2 parts the Disc One: ARCHIVUM contains selected tracks from the first tape (White Ashes), the first LP (Obliteration), various compilation tracks and unreleased material. Disc Two: LIVE collects high quality live recordings from the whole period of activity and includes all the outstanding vocal tracks for what Predominance was especially known for. [press-release]

raison d'etre -- "Mise En Abyme" -- CD -- €12
2014 Transgredient Records, TR-10
Transgredient Records is very proud to release the newest studio-work by this well known Swedish ambient industrial project, continually re-newing the dark ambient genre since 1992. "Mise en Abyme" is the first raison d'etre studio album in over 4 years, following a very special "initation concept" with an emphasis on the experience of sequential psychological states with cathartic effects - diving into the deepest regions of the subsonscious in order to return with a fresh and 'empty' mind. All the previously beloved elements of raison d'etres music are here: spacious deep drones, touching sacral choirs, ritualistic sounds from gongs and bells and other awesome integrated field / object recordings - all impressively enhanced to reach a new level of masterful atmospheric composition. Moving from dramatic tension and threatening uproar to meditative beauty, this near hour long album reveals various changes and details, while always sounding monolithic (all of one piece), expressing almost unbearable sensations of melancholy, vastness and contemplation. The idea behind this album, in the words of the artist: "'Mise en Abyme' is an inner journey down to the most hidden and dark parts of the Self. 'Mise en Abyme' literally means 'placed into the abyss' and conceptually the album contains ingredients from 'The Divine Comedy' by Dante or any similar stories/myths around the katabasis theme. Instead of being linked to religion, history or morality, it is purely a psychological and therapeutic trip to the underworld, investigating the subconscious. But even in the darkest and chaotic places in the depths, there are small shades of light, hope and understanding; one can be enlightened and purified upon returning to the conscious world." Ryr -- "Until the End of Times" -- CD-R -- €27
2013 Ufa Muzak, UFA62, (ltd. 130)
Apocalyptic military industrial. Black archangels, twisted in the air in the form of a swastika, how much time do they whirl, but - a single moment - and their skeletons like spikes are put over the ruined city. Vision as a kind of hypnotic dream isn't available for anyone, their eyes will see the complex pictures of destruction. Distraction from life, few steps ahead, inaccessible to mortals, dream unfolds like a flower. Cities, woods and rivers, industrial zones, warehouses and stations - they are, and at the same time they are not - the fire wave from space covers everything to turn it into dust. The newest album of the project opens the spiritual ties that hindered unclear presentiments and suspicions. The inner castigator comes with bright light, so that every gap is opened. Alchemical curses in mirrors, micro frequencies emanating from dolmens, inaudible words of exhumated bones of the kings, vellums with secret maps falling to pieces, coldness of the crypts of the noble families, sounds of atonal music in the desert and ancient dreams of cursed monks exiled from the temples. No sentiments, only strict bridges of stone rhythms and hammered towers of noise breakdowns. Fragments of the said gliding in eternity in the total flow, as last documents of the died world. Dark concentrated atmosphere, not calling to any senses, only silence and awe. 10 tracks, 46 minutes, pro-CDr, 6 panel cardboard sleeve with a postcard. [press-release]

2014 Blodrode Floder, 02, (ltd. 100)
Side-project of a member of the Danish duo Hvide Naetter. Unlike the main project where they don't hesitate to use powerful sonorities, here Jens Konrad puts an emphasis on more atmospheric music with field recordings, synthesizer lines and samples from movies. But just like in Hvide Naetter here one can also feel parallels with the classical industrial sound of late 80-s - early 90-s. Must be appreciated by the fans of quality-made old school!

SRMeixner -- "Ten Thousand Ways To Die" -- CD -- €10
2010 Segerhuva, SEGER 29, (ltd. 300)
Stephen Meixner (ex-Contrastate) has deepened his exploration of spaghetti western thematics on this album. The tracks herein take as their inspiration the ideas and themes behind the making of the films and the era in which they were made. While the Italo-western genre is often focused on violent dynamics, Meixner's music focuses on haunting and sparse atmospherics yet keeping with the film genre's tendency to always keep things interesting by throwing in both unexpected and unsettling elements. Field recordings, samples and digital manipulation makes up the core of the album, with a distinct, smoothly composed desert flavour. [press-release]

As long time admirers of this Texas two piece, it seemed only a matter of time before Steel Hook Prostheses would find a home with Malignant. While Atrocitizer will probably not be considered their most aggressive release, it is unquestionably their most unsettling and creepy. 10 tracks in total and close to 50 minutes of death industrial in it's purest form, dripping and oozing with sinister intentions, and full of grim electronics, unnerving pulsations, and cold frequency spasms that swarm from a fetid pit of malevolence. Add in a steady stream of ultra menacing, processed vocals and nightmarish samples, and surely you have one of the more disturbing releases ever to be released on Malignant. Steel Hook Prostheses formed in 1999, and since then have amassed an impressive discography of limited CDR releases. Atrocitizer is just their second full length non CDR release following 2005's Light Reflected From A Cold Cutting Table. In 6 panel digipak. [press-release]

Stratvm Terror -- "Pain Implantations" -- CD -- €14
1998/2009 Old Europa Cafe, OECD118
Formed by aggression and pain the aptly titled CD 'Pain Implantation' is probably a good description of the music, given the focus of the approach. Sparse and suffocating atmospheres float forth while distorted sicken tones are injected. The opening track lulls the listener into a false sense of relaxation before the distorted frequencies leap out to reek havoc on the listeners cerebral area. The music throughout the disc pounds on your skull without mercy and then slows down before the next eruption, ripping through your ears jamming them with feedback and beats tearing the mind apart. Every track has a nerve grating, tympanic membrane agitating attraction, sonically careens off of the interior fortress of the body... Stratvm Terror is Peter Andersson of Raison d'etre, Necrophorus, Bocksholm, Atomine Elektrine etc. and Tobias Larsson of Ocean Chief. 'Pain Implantations' were originally released in 1998 on Malignant Records as the second CD album release of the band. This re-release from Old Europa Cafe, totally refurbished from the original master and added with two more songs, is presented with complete new artwork. [press-release]

Surma -- "Allocutio" -- CD -- €10
2008 The Eastern Front, Front 019, (ltd. 300)
New album of the very young Ukrainian project Surma. Martial ambient sounds mixed with industrial elements and nostalgic old samples. [label info] Walking those desolate battlefields of Les Joyaux de la Princesse and Der Blutharsch Surma is operating in their vein making sober martial ambient. Old shellac and repetitive loops of battle sounds grinding you through this war machine. As the smoke slowly disappears the horror will become visible and the stench of rough blood penetrates your nostrils. Allocutio brings you the oppressive atmospheres from the trenches. Starting with some kind of anthem in the “First Vision” we enter the rotating war samples of bombing with some metal percussion and a distant voice in the “Second Vision”. The martial genre is a genre with not much room for innovation and so this release continues with four more other visions with the same ingredients. Surma makes filmic martial ambient creating pictures of war and desolation. Allocutio is a nice record but the genre itself has nothing new to offer and so does Surma but Surma can compete with the best acts from the genre and is therefore interesting enough for those who like acts such as Combative Alignment or LJDLP. Torturing Nurse -- "Il Comunismo Doveva Morire" -- CD -- €10
2010 Mind Flare Media, MFM003
Mind Flare Media's first official release from Torturing Nurse. This absolutely devastating CD contains one track running almost an hour and fourteen minutes. Power electronic landscapes, screaming, it's the most destructive release these guys have done to date. This one just goes to show why the band is one of the most important underground/experimental acts in China today. This album places them at the top of a heap of chaos, and the artwork throws it all together with revamped, old school propaganda given a modern, cryptic twist. [press-release]

'Mare morphosis' stands out in the history of TROUM studio-albums as their most symphonic, refined and orchestral effort so far. Troum & Martyn Bates -- "To a Child Dancing in the Wind" -- CD -- €10
2006 Transgredient Records, TR-03
Profound songs inspired by Yeats-poems: The acoustic transformation of the deepest yearning for this release, the German 'transcendental-drone'-duo Troum teams up with the legendary British singer/songwriter and Eyeless In Gaza-member Martyn Bates. More than 2 years in the making, Martyn Bates has sung & played (mouth organ & melodica) over basic material Troum provided - consisting of harmonic minimal loops & basic song structures derived from accordion, e-bass & guitar, percussion, who were then also responsible for the final subsequent additional mastering (adding more guitar-work, voices & balalaika). Martyn Bates has chosen to sing four poems of the famous Irish poet W.B.Yeats, and he did this with a most impressive sensitivity for Troum's very sublime & rather hidden harmonic structures. There are also two instrumentals in a more experimental style on this disc, one being a dark drone reprise of the main piece 'Mad As the Mist and Snow #2.' Martyn's voice is surely not something for everyone - it's of an extreme emotional & yearnful quality that might be not easy to stand - a yearning which is like a deep 'cry out to the horizon,' to something that is unreachable per se, feeling a passion that tears you apart inside. This is pure emotional poetry transformed into yearnful audible spherics! [label info]

True Colour Of Blood -- "Awakened To Never Sleep Again" -- CD-R -- €7
2001 Soulworm Editions, Worm XVI
Raw and uneasy guitar drone ambient from States. "Guitar does not seem to be the perfect tool to create ambient sounds. But Eric Kesner proves it can work just perfect. The ominous monotony and minimalistic approach embed in these sounds makes 'Awakened...' an uneasy listening experience for the listener - by it's almost psychosomatic, resonant touch." [press-release]

Uvodna -- "Tainstvo Vril" -- CD -- €8
2012 Urgrund Division
"Uvodna is a lovely forest maiden beckoning traveller with her beauty deep inside forest and leaving him in a world of his dreams, taking him far to the west where sun goes backwards," - say the official page of the project based in Ulan-Ude, Buryatia. However the CD cover presents Uvodna not as a maiden, but as a flying saucer from the mythical project Haunebu, and the whole material was obviously composed under the influence of esotheric occultism of the Third Reich. Musically this is minimalistic synthesizer dark-ambient in vein of many post-black-metal projects, imbued with appropriate energetics.

Xotox -- "Indre Stilhed" -- CD-R -- €8

Xotox is the project of Andreas Davids, who also runs with ‘Neuf Noir Records’ a little but very fine label, worth to check it. "indre stilhed" was composed to show the world of silence, fear, nature and beautiness beyond industrial soundscapes. [press-release]

YAO 91404 D -- "Coal" -- CD -- €11 2011 Valgriind, VG 48
Pure old school industrial with raw tape sound.
