A Challenge Of Honour -- "Taken by the Flames" -- CD -- €10
2014 Steinklang Industries, SK76
This Album is the farewell of A CHALLENGE OF HONOUR, a great music project and a even greater friend, who accompanied Steinklang over many years. We do not want to loose many words, let's tell the bandleader some final words to his audience: "The last 12 years where a great time thinking back. I was able to release my music, work together with some wonderful people and making new friends. But all stops. After 12 years A Challenge Of Honour is no more. One last track is still laying on the shells, one last track which is also the start of something new, a new born. This track is besides the very last A Challenge Of Honour also directly the name of the new Project, a new musical direction. Not a total new direction but different... I like to take this opportunity to thank a great number of people who helped me to bring my message across. Like so often on other records it's the basic "you know who you are" message, but my gratitude is great. This is not the end, well, of A Challenge Of Honour it is, but a beginning...let's remember it as such... I also like to tribute this album to my Son, Tibor Sam Savelkoul, born on the 14th of October 2012... - Peter Savelkoul (12th of October, 2013, Sittard, NL)". This Album consists of very rare vinyl-only and unreleased songs. Comes as 6-side digipack. [press-release]
Argentum -- "Ditirambos al dios de la Guerra" -- CD -- €10
2014 Ufa Muzak, UFA65, (ltd. 400)
Martial Industrial / Neoclassic / Ambient. The album full of colossal admiration for the Greek pantheon presented by the cult band Argentum. Overwhelming hymns with lyrics in Greek language, infused as components in an alchemic retort, only to make an unforgettable impression. Music is a secret way to Homer's "Iliad", Ovid's "Metamorphoses", to Aeschylus and Hesiod, to the mythological Olympus, the sacred mountain, the place of residence of the gods headed by Zeus. During the Great Dionysias in Athens choirs if singers dressed in goat skins were singing hymns - dithyrambs accompanying dances, and so the album if full of wine and hop spirit. Drunken satyrs with tails and goat legs carry old Silenus on a donkey, a wise teacher, to the sounds of flutes, pan-pipes and timpanis. The Agrentinian project's music opens slowly, moving from majestic hymns to resilient electronic rhythm, from conspiracy to Hercules, to the Orphic spells, to Zeus, from life to death, from pain to ecstasy. The Olympians pass in front of us and glorify their power, interwining Futhark and Ancient Greek, symbols of war and improving the magical experience, animal and divine nature... 9 tracks, 40 minutes, 4-panel digipak. Arnica -- "Lecho De Piedra" -- CD -- €10
2014 Percht, Percht24
'Lecho de Piedra' ('Deadbed Stone') is the new long play album by Àrnica. The Iberians are back with a astonishing new Ur-Folk album, presenting a big variety from harsher folk tunes ('Valle de Lobos'), over nature chants ('Monte Nublado-Cima', 'Trazos de Sangre') to warrior poetry ('Monte Nublado-Ladera', 'Las Plumas del Cuervo'), dealing with the concept of death on stones, inside mountains or within forests. In short: death in the outside and in nature. Guitar, flutes, accordion, mouth harp, a lot of diferents drums, gralla, catalonian bagpipe, stones, bones, antlers, ratchets, cowbells, field recordings and a couple of samplers were used for the creation of this new masterpiece of Southern-Alpine Folkmusic. A very special collaboration is in the song 'Una Bestia Astada' with Jay Kokopeli (Traum'er Leben), who joined the band with his wild breath. Comes as 6-side digipack. [press-release]

2014 Old Europa Cafe, OECD 195
Atomtrakt -- "Sperrstelle Nordost" -- CD -- €10
2010 Steinklang Industries, SK052
Martial-industrial-neoclassic music at highest level! ATOMTRAKT could easily be described as a cross between best TRIARII and WAPPENBUND and this new opus will set new standards in the Apocalyptic/Martial Industrial scene: Words like bombastic, martial, heroic or militant definitely need to be re-defined. Cold, heroic and atmospheric synthesizer layers are mixed with bombastic drums and military war-like rhythm patterns. The vocals vary from dark and clean to distorted and threatening. The album features a superb video clip for Trauermarsch and is available in a 6-panel digipak. It was mastered at Luftschutzkerker in Switzerland. [label info]

Bianchi, Maurizio -- "Teknoise" -- CD -- €10
2014 Peripheral Records, PR008, (ltd. 300)
Maurizio Bianchi has been at the forefront of the Industrial 'scene' for four decades and has no inclination to stop producing music of unique experimentation. A prolific artist that has encompassed several genres, namely Industrial, Noise, Dark Ambient and the Avant-Garde. Bianchi was inspired by the music of Tangerine Dream, Conrad Schnitzler and Throbbing Gristle. He originally wrote about music for Italian publications, before beginning to release his own cassettes under the name of Sacher-Pelz in August 1979. He subsequently released four cassettes under the Sacher-Pelz banner (which have now been re-issued by the Italian label 'Urashima') before switching to his own name or simply "MB" in 1980. Maurizio released a further 14 albums on cassette and LP, before leaving music behind in 1983 to follow a more 'refined' existence. Having been persuaded to return to music, Maurizio once again starting recording in 1998. He still contends to pushing the boundaries of 'difficult' music to this day... Originally recorded in August 1980 this album has never been released in any format and is an extremely rare artifact from Maurizio's collection. Two long tracks, 'Tek' and 'Noise', deliver that unique sound that M.B. has made his own. Primitive drum machines pulse over sinister analogue synths, that create an unsettling atmosphere, perhaps only the true Italian master of Industrial and Musique Concrete could ever create. [press-release]
Bisclaveret -- "Theu Anagnosis" -- CD -- €10
2014 Zoharum, ZOHAR 072-2 / Steinklang Industries, SK82, (ltd. 333)
BISCLAVERET returns with a new album entitled "Theu Anagnosis". It is a concept album, similarly to the previous 2 albums. In 8 compositions here the musicians captured a mystical-philosophical treatise of sorts. The first part of it, namely "An Introduction to Reading God", was presented on 7" vinyl split with Feine Trinkers bei Pinkels Daheim. By means of lyrics and music the duo creates apparently surreal own world of sounds devoid of "here and now." They propose their own vision of the Absolute which is seen through the eyes of mystics, madmen and free thinkers. The band invites us on a psychedelic wandering into the depth of ego, on a metaphysical adventure in the world of music painted with various colours, shapes and stories. Dreams of a madman? Calls of a scholar? Experience of a hermit? It all melts in a lava of many cultures. Yet here it creates a crystal, but heterogenic image. What is it like? Check it yourselves. The album is co-released by Steinklang Industries & Zoharum. Edition with white cover (111 copies). [label info]

Burial Hex -- "In Psychic Defense" -- CD -- €10
2014 Cold Spring, CSR197CD
Burial Hex is a composition cycle of Post-Industrial music, dubbed “Horror Electronics”, by Clay Ruby. With a progressive mix of influences as far-reaching as vintage Industrial and Power Electronics, Kosmische Music, Black Metal, Techno and Electro, Early Music and Contemporary Classical, these dynamic compositions are simply unclassifiable. This compilation continues the stunning trajectory of the previous Cold Spring reissue collection, “Book of Delusions”, falling even further into the spiraling abyss of ritual music made in preparation for the Final Mysteries in the twilight of this Kali Yuga. Collecting tracks from various out-of-print vinyl releases, including In Psychic Defense, The Tower, Fantasie und Fuge, Hunger, and the highly sought-after “A Kiss To Birth The Rotted Sun” from the WVNDRKMMER 5xCS compilation, this volume is a welcome addition to every Burial Hex collection, as well as an ideal introduction for the Horror Electronics neophyte. Creation VI -- "Tetragrammaton" -- CD-R -- €7
2014 Pantheon, PAN006
New album by Creation VI - Tetragrammaton is three piece of monumental music for contemplation, meditation and transcendence. Being result of reflection and inner transformation of ideas of Russian philosophers Vladimir Shmakov and Grygory Mebes, this records serves as catalyst for those who are used to comprehend the Universe through sound diapason of vibrations. Echoes of ancient traditions, primal hum, shamanism and direct intrusion into metaphysics of the Sound... «One is dreaming about Many. Remaining nameless, he creates all names. When Nothing turns into Three, the cycle begins. Let the lightning go through your soul, mind and body, seeding the Tree, where is Dream becomes true, where is True becomes fourth element. These three aural meditations are facets of our gnosis, the farthest limit for living creature. Be the fourth, to face yourself. Tat twam asi...» Tim Six: singing bowls, voice and throat singing, guitar, hulusi, water pipes, metallic objects, field recordings. [press-release]

Deadwood -- "Sheolic" -- CD -- €10
2014 Cold Spring, CSR163CD
The desolate new album from Sweden’s Deadwood (aka Daniel Jansson of CULTED). Recorded 2009-2011, “Sheolic” mixes dark ambient with black Industrial and power electronics, making this the bleakest Deadwood album to date. Cold, distorted waves of nefarious electronics, putrescent vocals and dense, heavy rhythms take you to a new sub-level of despair that delivers on many plains of consciousness. Influenced by the downfall of mankind and the men and women that willingly embrace it; from religious cults to those who choose to act on their own. This is the final part of the Deadwood trilogy for Cold Spring – beginning with “8 19? in 2005, continuing with “Ramblack” in 2008, and finishing with “Sheolic” in 2014. Cover art by Laetitia Mantis. Fear Konstruktor / Barrikad -- "The Path To The Black Lodge" -- CD -- €10
2012 Peripheral Records, PR007, (ltd. 150)
Peripheral Records is proud to announce it's seventh release - Fear Konstruktor / Barrikad 'The Path to the Black Lodge', influenced by the Black and White Lodge from Twin Peaks. 'The Black Lodge is a fictional setting featured in the television series Twin Peaks. It is an extradimensional place which seems to include, primarily, the "Red Room" first seen by Agent Cooper in a dream early in the series. As events in the series unfold, it becomes apparent that the characters from the Red Room, the room itself and the Black Lodge, along with the White Lodge, are connected.' Four tracks of dark-ambient drone's and blasts of Soviet era analogue synth experimentations. At once a mysterious journey into the Lodge itself and a hallucinatory auditory trip into the darkside of the psyche! Highly recommended. [press-release]

Kazeria -- "Liber Corvus" -- CD -- €10
2012 Gradual Hate Records, GH 116 CD / Twilight Records, TW 1.99
Dark/Ritual Ambient. Liber Corvus (the Raven Book) is the new and occult edition by KAZERIA after the succesful "Discipline Of The Shadows" (SkullLine, 2008) and "Credo Nostrvm" (Twilight Records, 2010). Exploring a more dark/ritual ambient, contemplative, neoclassical and gothic side than previous works, this album was conceived as a rite of passage from dusk to the deep night in order to reach the Gnosis. The Crow guides the Neophyte through the Four Ways towards transmutation in the Midnight Sun, which is also the Morning Star. The concept was deeply inspired by the thelemic works of Frater Perdurabo (Aleister Crowley) the medieval mysticism, hermetic and alchemic symbolism and the heathen wisdom. The album contains four tracks plus two hidden tracks (the "Corvus Rituali" appendix), and a video-ritual directed by Diego Arandojo, in the Kenneth Anger occult-filmic style. [press-release]

Martial / Industrial / Neoclassical. The second full-length work of Kraschau consists of two parts: the first six tracks follows the monarchist, counter-revolutionary standpoint introduced on the debut album with a blend of christian mysticism and it deals mainly with the history of Central-Europe (eg. the Austro-Hungarian Empire, Prussia). The last four songs are dedicated to the history of the spanish civil war. Musically Kraschau continues the symphonic, neo-classical concept, this time with more tension: sometimes even more harsher industrial elements, sometimes more clear and glorius orchestral anthems. Lustmord -- "Rising" -- CD -- €13
2006/2013 Ant-Zen, act307
Legendary sound artist Lustmord (Brian Williams) creates the sound that gave birth too and epitomizes the genre known as dark ambient. Williams began working under that name in 1980, and since then his dark sound sculptures have been highly influential not only in music genres such as ambient and industrial, but also in film and games. Lustmord's sound investigations are exquisitely crafted manifestations of horror that balance sublime sound references with the body's natural queasiness about ultra-low frequencies. Lustmord has previously extracted the eeriness from field recordings made in crypts, caves, and slaughterhouses, and combined it with sonic incantations and the haunting wail of tibetan horns. His seamless treatments of acoustic phenomena encased in digitally expanded bass rumbles have the darkly ambient quality of nightmares that take you to the blackest of abysses... 'Rising' was captured live at the Center for Inquiry, Los Angeles, June 6, 2006, with no additional overdubs or post-production. The performance drew on material from various Lustmord albums, melded and blended into new combinations, as well as new material and improvisation. The initial release of 'Rising' in 2006 also marked the 25th anniversary of Brian Williams' project. While the compositions are structured around the three "greater magic" elements of a satanic mass, they are not dependent on same for context and meaning, and as such can provide a background for deep contemplation and, in some cases, relaxation. A dark ambient triumph, an evocative and challenging work that will not disappoint those with open minds. [press-release]
Mesektet -- "Towards A Bleak Sun" -- CD -- €10
2014 Cold Spring, CSR191CD
Ancient Egypt inspired, monolithic drone/dark ambient. Mesektet created rumbling earth drones that echo through caverns and temples. Vast swathes of ominous drones, primordial vibrations, and ceremonial ambience take you on an immersive journey to the Netherworld. The name ‘Mesektet’ comes from one of the two boats which the Egyptian solar deity Ra travelled in: Mandjet was his ‘morning boat’, and Mesektet the ‘evening boat’. Ra used Mesektet as a boat to travel back to the Netherworld from a long day of shining. The deity’s travels were an inspiration for the essence and rich sound of “Towards a Bleak Sun”. Six lengthy tracks (46 minutes) composed as a soundtrack for the deep pyramids and long travels to the Netherworld. [press-release]

Miller, Scott / Lee Camfield / Merzbow -- "No Closure" -- CD -- €10
2013 Cold Spring, CSR185CD
“No Closure” is the collaborative output of ex-Sutekh Hexen members Scott Miller and Lee Camfield, with Japanese noise mastermind, Masami Akita, aka Merzbow. Mixing elements of psychedelia, black metal, doom and industrial music, the three musicians created a spellbinding work of experimental art... Conceptually crafted in a dark basement recording studio in the Mission District of San Francisco and later fleshed out in Tokyo, Japan, Miller, Camfield and Akita have completely pushed the boundaries of sound far beyond their individual comfort zones. With the implementation of standard instruments being force fed through loop pedals and precise layering, multi-instrumentalists Miller and Camfield set out to build an album rooted deep in the exploitation of intentional rhythms and deliberate patterning... Through their use of guitar, bass, drums, organs, synths and vocals, purposely devoid of their usual feedback drenched and oscillator projections, they left the inevitable incorporation of varied sound manipulation and textures strictly to Akita, thus giving birth to these two tracks. A 44 minute long masterpiece of epic mind warping experimental composition. [press-release]

Sistema Bezopasnosti -- "Swan Song" -- CD -- €10
2007/2014 Heimdall Records, (ltd. 300)
Russian group Sistema Bezopasnosti (which means "safety system") was formed in the beginning of 90-ies in Tumen', Siberia, and was playing in one line with other Siberian rock-bands like Grazhdanskaya Oborona, Instruktsiya Po Vyzhivaniyu, Kuzya UO, and others. However the band leader's passion for folklore, mysticism and other esoteric thing lead them to leaving their rock'n'roll past and starting making more experimental recordings. The album "Swan Song" was recorded entirely in home studio and represents typical apocalyptic folk music in vein of Current 93 with more "fairytale" touch. Epic compositions with hermetic lyrics in Russian are passionately performed in company with real orchestra of various instruments: guitars, violin, flutes, piano, synths, percussion, etc... Second edition of this album, 300 copies in a 6-panel digipak with extensive liner notes in English.

Peripheral Records and Death Continues Records proudly present: SKULL:AXIS The Transparent Society CD. Bleak, cold and paranoid Industrial from Peripheral Records label boss Jason B Bernard. 13 years have passed since the last release... 'Seen through a lens, observed, captured and processed. Surveillance as contemporary instrument of control or society under vigilance?' Surveillance - is the monitoring of the behaviour, activities, or other changing information, usually of people for the purpose of influencing, managing, directing, or protecting. Surveillance is therefore an ambiguous practice, sometimes creating positive effects, at other times negative. It is sometimes done in a surreptitious manner. It most usually involves observation of individuals or groups by government organizations (though there are some exceptions, such as disease surveillance, which monitors the progress of a disease in a community without for that matter directly observing or monitoring individuals)... Trepaneringsritualen -- "Perfection & Permanence" -- CD -- €10
2014 Cold Spring, CSR198CD
Trepaneringsritualen explores themes of religion, magick and the hidden realms of consciousness, taking its musical cues from the old school of ritual ambient & death industrial. Rhythmic and seething at times, and oozing forward with a creeping sense of desolation at others, Trepaneringsritualen conjures forth bleak but mesmerizing visions of the end-times... “Perfection & Permanence”: a hymn to Isis; a further exploration of the duality of the holy harlot, the black skinned Magdalen, mother and concert of the Christ; Yeshua Ben Yosef, son of MAN; the shameful dead, those who sold their brothers, condemned to forever roam the earth; to transgress the abyss, to mortify flesh, towards cosmic renovation. It is lonely, it is awful; on the verge of physical death, but still unable to understand; absolute perfection may be attained through WILL. A conversation with angels, in archaic tongues; Eirikr inn Sigrsaeli sold his blood and kin to desert rats for corporeal power. Eirikr, we spit on you.; from across the abyss, it rises. Ceaseless, blood-churning, terrible; an incoherent accusation by the mirror image, he who’s blood was shed to atone another man’s sins. Without bloodshed there can be no salvation. [press-release]

Haynes, Jim -- "The Decline Effect" -- 2 LP -- €20
2011 Helen Scarsdale Agency, HMS021, (ltd. 350)
Parapsychology introduced the notion of the decline effect as a statistical phenomenon of diminishing results whilst investigating extra-sensory perception and psychokinesis. Where initial findings might substantiate proof of such abilities, further studies would almost always demonstrate the contrary. As such, this ontological disappearing act stands in allegorical parallel to the entropic art of Jim Haynes and frames his 2011 opus of the corroded drone and a compacted disintegration of sound... This San Francisco Bay Area artist has long defined his work through the pithy phrase: "I rust things." The Decline Effect continues his investigations with electroacoustic decay through four bodies of evidence left behind from ephemeral aktions, shipwrecked electronics, re-engineered field recordings, and transmissions from the ether. Haynes composes through all of these sources through a patient suturing of sympathetic elements, whether they be textural, tonal, visceral, heavenly, sodden, or monolithic. Here, embers foretelling a nuclear winter gently waft upon industrial chorales amassed from an army of fidgeting motors; the sulfur-laden hiss from volcanic vents erupts from an organic thrum into boiling crescendos of environmental noise; geiger counter palpitations stream along a leaden sea of modulated radio noise; a warm explosion of sun-bleached distortion caresses the evanescent halos from an undulating mesmerism inexplicably not sourced from a guitar and / or digital patch authored by Christian Fennesz. On The Decline Effect, Haynes' broken minimalism orbits somewhere near the work Joe Colley, The Hafler Trio, Nurse With Wound, and BJ Nilsen... The 2LP of The Decline Effect is strictly limited to 350 copies, comes in a handsome gatefold sleeve, and sports the necessary download coupon. Zener cards not included. [press-release]

Nadja & Troum -- "Dominium Visurgis" -- LP -- €21<
2010 Denovali Records, DEN59 , (ltd. 300)
This is something you could call a "dreamlike liaison". When the Canadian "avant metal / drone doom"-duo NADJA (who name TROUM as one of their early influences) and the German post-industrial / experimental drone pioneers TROUM (years ago active as MAEROR TRI who are still discovered by many drone-fans these days) combine their exceptional styles, they form something even vaster as usually known from them. These three long collaboration tracks were recorded as a result of a spontaneous improvisation in April 2008 "live in the studio" near the Weser-river in Bremen, Germany, and suck you in with their powerful & emotional drone melancholy that works in many micro-& macrocosmic ways, using electric & acoustic guitars, bass, accordeon, drum-machine & voice. The Slaves -- "Ocean On Ocean" -- 2 x 12" -- €20
2012 Helen Scarsdale Agency, HMS 23, (ltd. 400)
The mystical drone-folklorist Jon Porras introduced us to the luminous sound of The Slaves, so we thought it fitting that he should expound upon their radiant shoegazing heaviness. Here speaks Mr. Porras: "A shadow moves beneath the water. Ocean On Ocean: two abysmal surfaces echoing into one another. Mutually reflecting an endless geologic score to a post-apocalyptic litany. Planes of ambivalence obliterated by light, voices eclipsed by devotional low end, synthesized stereography spiraling from an eternal core. Hovering above the weighted disposition of Doom and below the consolation of Shoegaze, the duo transmit a burdened grace that unfolds like a radiant mammal writhing in black water. We discover an object heavy and obtuse until placed into the sea. Lines of light swell and dissipate behind hushed lyrics. Feedback and whitenoise ebb and flow, the mammal's breath hollowed, tumbling below the surface. The hum offset and displaced by water that surrounds. Holographic accord materialized by invalidated hopefulness. We are unsure and skeptical of what this optimism holds. What lies waiting at the depths carved between these two reflective surfaces? Ocean On Ocean implies a tangible province exists between these mirrored planes. A staircase built from reflective feedback, extending horizontally into bliss. A bliss that is fleeting and simultaneously petrified in the present. A paradox realized by the duo's distillations of urgent ambiance and luminescent melancholy. Conjuring environments that billow out from instrumental restraint, Ocean On Ocean is an exercise in disciplined abstraction.
Initially a cd-r, Ocean On Ocean reaches its supreme possibility today. An acoustic artifact cast into alchemical tangibility, these recordings are finally at peace on vinyl. Now the relics hidden between these Oceans can be crystallized." The Slaves are Barbara Kinzle and Birch Cooper, who hail from Portland, Oregon and who have released other works on Digitalis and Paradigms to considerable acclaim, drawing favorable comparisons to the likes of Grouper, Slowdive, Earth, and Barn Owl. The 2LP of Ocean On Ocean is limited to 400 copies, and the recordings were mastered for vinyl by James Plotkin. [press-release]

Tiese is a duo from Lithuania, consisting of members of Lys and Gana2. Con-Dom -- "We Who Were Living Are Now Dying" -- DVD -- €13
2014 The Epicurean, cure.4 / Peripheral Records, PR020 / Silken Tofu, stx.31, (ltd. 222)
Mike Dando/CON-DOM has operated in the multimedia domains incorporating sound, film and performance since his early years. He confronts the audience in extreme ways, touching on taboo subjects suppressed or reduced to primitive stereotypes by the mass media of today. With a devastating barrage of noise he traces the unconscious religious subtext of modern mass society, crossfades religious and political (border) phenomena and relates them with violent and pathological aspects. In the six super 8 short films, created in the 1980s to early 1990s and finally digitally restored in 2013, daily routine scenes are juxtaposed with grainy photos of criminals, dictators and clerics and book pages bearing crude, racist interpretations of Scripture, filmed line by line. Packaging: DVD digi pack, High quality 400 chromolux paper, includes woven patch with Con-Dom logo. [press-release]

Allerseelen / Sangre Cavallum -- "Barco do Vinho" -- CD -- €10
2006 Ahnstern, Ahnstern 21
Barco do Vinho is the Portuguese word for Wine Boat - the boats that in the past brought the barrels of wine from the vineyards in Callaecia (Northern Portugal) on the river Douro to the town of Porto. The CD features four exclusive songs by the Northern-Portuguese group Sangre Cavallum and four exclusive songs by the Austrian group Allerseelen - ancient and traditional but at the same time brand-new avant-garde music, somewhere between apocalyptic folklore and psychedelic rock. Poetical songs about wine taken down rivers with crews of strong men, floating down throats with crews of sparkling spirits. Inspired by the vineyards that welcome the sun bringing character to grapes. Then a silent darkness, a timeless life inside oak barrels turn wine into flavoured blood for a toast between men and nature. [label info]

Arnica -- "Numancia" -- CD EP -- €7
2010 Ahnstern, Ahnstern 47
Numancia was a small castro (name in Spanish for celtiberian village). The inhabitants from Numancia fought against the Roman Empire for more than twenty years. It was 133 b.C. Roma sent their best military man called Escipion to create a siege and destroy Numancia so they could have controlled the entire peninsula. However, when the Romans entered the village, the survivors decided to kill their own children, set their own belongings on fire to end up with their own lives. If the Empire controled Celtiberia they could not control their people. Musically Numancia is a invigorating trip from the magnificence of the village to the final decision of choose to die instead of being conquered. Solid drums and ritual elements are mixed with Heathen tunes the recognizable Ur-Folk sound. All texts are written and sung in Spanish and in the ancient Celtiberian language. After this release to homage our ancestors, Аrnica will depart back to the vast mountains of the Pyrenees… [press-release]

Bad Sector -- "Unification" -- CD -- €11
2013 Old Europa Cafe, OECD 162
After seven years one of the most experimental Bad Sector release, based on the concept of gravitational waves and the unification of forces of the nature, finally found its final form. The original 20 minutes program has been expanded into a full length CD, containing cold (and sci-fi) atmospheres: an amazing soundtrack for your mindtrip to the deepest places of the universe. A really challenging work, thousands of miles distant from the Ampos’ fuzzy harmonies, but strangely still related to it through invisible connections. [label info] According to physical theories, large cosmic events, such as explosions of supernovae and collapses of binary stars, produce big changes in mass configuration. These changes spread as waves all over the universe. Special devices, called gravitational interferometers, have been built to detect these waves. VIRGO, a gravitational interferometer housed near Pisa, in Italy, is the source of “Unification”. This work contains the real, rough signals that VIRGO sent out when it was first checked, together with the target signals, computed by physicists, that VIRGO is looking for. A CDr released in 2006 contained a first short version of this project. The basic original sounds have now been reviewed and reassembled to provide a different, extended release. While keeping connected to the scientific and technical issues, the idea of this project is to emotionally describe the human struggle for a more complete and unified vision of the basic forces of nature. Cisfinitum & First Human Ferro -- "Alchemicals" -- CD -- €12
2012 Old Captain, OCCD06, (ltd. 300)
A new collaborative work by two modern alchemists, Eugene Voronovsky and Olegh Kolyada, is a transmutation of Saturn into Sol with the goal of attaining immortality. A cross-border of avant-garde jazz (featuring Sergei Letov, saxophone player) and dark ambient (Cisfinitum & First Human Ferro) reveals cryptic alchemical symbols, diagrams, and vocalisms (featuring James Thirlwell (of Foetus fame)) that contain multiple layers of meanings, allegories, and references to be laboriously decoded in order to discover true meaning hidden from its creators. A panacea “Alchemicals” is accompanied by a proto-scientific design of Andrey Bondarenko to enliven the content cornucopia. Edition of 300 copies in 4 panel Digipak. [press-release]
Coil -- "Porto" -- CD -- €27
2006 Extremocidente
Coil / Nine Inch Nails -- "Recoiled" -- CD -- €10
2014 Cold Spring, CSR193CD
“Recoiled” is a rambunctious alchemy, of magikal Coil sensibilities and hi-tech home circa 90’s mixing technique, all fused in the cave-like early studios of Danny Hyde / Peter Christopherson. These were the unrestrained PRE- BIG studio- mix downs, of four songs which long time Coil admirer / collaborator Trent Reznor requested Coil to remix. Reznor sent over the original multi-tracks and DATs to Hyde / Christopherson, who independently mixed versions and then met to synch both creations, molding them into these master versions. ”Recoiled” includes a fuller, more opulent version of the track ‘Closer’, which eventually made it onto the opening credits to the movie “SE7EN“. These 5 lengthy compositions (just under 40 minutes) are pre-Ableton / laptop generation type priest song creations, with the use of baby alarms and numerous wires to create bespoke effects. These legendary tracks were always rumoured to exist and, only the due diligence of a dedicated NIN forum who hunted them down, are released/unleashed for your listening pleasure. 4 of the tracks were released on the download-only “Uncoiled”. A bonus, previously unheard track from the same sessions closes the album. Jhonn Balance is also manifest on this gilded constellation. Beautifully remastered. [press-release]

Dead Man's Hill -- "Spirits" -- CD -- €10
2010 Steinklang Industries, SK 53
Over the last 7 years, DEAD MAN'S HILL became a well known and much appreciated artist in Ritual Ambient, Neoclassic and Bombastic Martial Music and with this new album, the band drags the listener into alternate realities and far away spheres. The lyrics are mainly dealing with travelling in these worlds. Musically the album goes further in the vein of Lakes of Sacrifice (2006) but a lot deeper-going and much more worked out, so you can say that "Spirits" is definitely the band's best album up to date. Dark and deep-dronning Ambient, mixed with strong and powerful Martial songs, varied with hypnotically mesmerizing Tribal parts. All in all the whole Album has a strong Death Industrial touch and even carries some Gregorian elements. Listen to this album, and let yourself take away to a intangible world, to far away shperes where things are just different to all You ever expected. "Spirits" includes a video from the track Road to Sweet Waters, made by Alex Hugin Wieser. 8 songs / 65 min. [press-release]

Dissecting Table -- "Ultra Materials 1986-1991" -- 2 CD -- €10
2007 Steinklang Industries, SK-IN 07, (ltd. 500)
Dissecting Table is one of the most influential Noise artists from the early Japanese Industrial years. The first Dissecting Table recordings are quite unique in the Japanese Industrial scene, as the band was working with very concrete rhythms and screaming voices and they even had dark and slow songs, which was completely untypical for this time and region. The only comparisons to early Dissecting Table recordings might be the legendary albums of GRIM and WHITE HOSPITAL. On this 2CD-set You find the A-side of the first 7" (Ultimate Psychological Description - 1986), the first LP (Ultra point of intersection exist - 1987), the first CD (Between life and death - 1990), all compilation tracks up to 1991 and even a UNRELEASED track from 1986! - this 2 CD-set is a milestone for Noise addicts and it's one of the most essential works in Noise music in general! Dissecting Table / Vasilisk -- "Saddharma / Tibetan Liberation" -- CD -- €10
2011 Steinklang Industries, SK-IN 18, (ltd. 500)
DISSECTING TABLE: Saddharma is a very intense Experimental Industrial-Noise Orgy, lasting over nearly 32 minutes. On this brilliant track, the mastermind of the Japanese Noise-Poineers DISSECTING TABLE, Ichiro Tsuji, combines different rhythmic oldschool-elements, experimental sounds and very dark/aggressive vocals, that remind to the band's early years. VASILISK: after the mysterious Japanese Power-Noise band "WHITE HOSPITAL" split up into "GRIM" and "VASILISK", the newborn band released 3 fantastic LPs in 1987-89, which became some of the most wanted and most expensive records in the collector's scene, already short after their release. In 1990 the 3 LPs were followed by a brilliant "best of" CD (Liaberation & Ecstasy), which was definitely one of the best Ritual albums ever released. After the release of this CD it went quite silent around the band, but now, after more than 20 years, Tomo Kuwahara (Vasilisk) is back with the same amazing Ritual Music than before! [press-release]

Erdlicht -- "Urlicht: Erster Kreis" -- CD-R -- €7
2011 Ufa Muzak, UFA 39, (ltd. 120)
Nordic Ambient. Icy horizon, isolated and empty, no manifestation of life, it stays infinite and reachless, but this is just an illusion, a facet which will fall like morning mist. Like a drawing on glass, it takes a hot palm pulsating with living blood, and spreads with water carrying away the memories, words, never stopping, never ceasing. Spheric sound preserved in a glacier, runic prayer in front of horizon dying in flames, the Sun enlaces still visible silouettes with sine waves. Retreat and inclination of concentrated and peaceful consciousness to the ultimate secret land, radiating light mirages before dusk, even greater mystery behind them. Leviathan continues his way among the dark cold of depth, everything is silent and watching his movements. In this album of the German project ERDLICHT all valuable ingredients of his nordic ambient production are preserved: depth, expanse, colour. From sound devices elemental spirits appear in the air, and the story of their wordless speech will submerge you in bright and lucid dream. Be careful and don't believe them... P.S. This disk includes the original EP "Mitnachttrost", dark ambient with martial elements dedicated to Miguel Serrano, plus two previous albums "Erster Licht / Wilde Jagd" (Licht Und Stahl, 2009) and "Morgenrothe / Abendroth" (Tosom, 2009)... 11 tracks, 78 minutes, cardboard cover + 3 cards. Frakmundt -- "Heiwehland" -- CD -- €10
2011 Percht, Percht 19
After more than one year FRÄKMÜNDT are back with their new masterpiece „Heiwehland“ ( “Land of Nostalgia“). Sixteen unique, expressive and headstrong songs grant the listener a passionate glimpse of the alpine areas of Inner-Switzerland. On “Heiwehland”, accordeon, guitars, hurdy-gurdy, bass, flutes, and the percussion contributed by Merlin (ELUVEITIE) blend together to form the unique and unconventional Swiss Ur-Folk. A primordial male voice and spoken passages contrast with the powerful voice of Anneli. Furthermore Chrigel Glanzmann (ELUVEITIE) and the renowned opera singer Christiane Boesiger contribute their guest vocals on two of the songs. New guitarist Guschti enriches the album with his string virtuosity. The varied songs in Swiss Alemannic dialect take you to a more than one hour long journey into the heart of the alps. They speak of historic events, tragic tales, frightening creatures, strange events, mysterious beings and the melancholic longing for a beautiful homeland that is disappearing in its original form but also about its outlasting beauty. As on the previous album “Urbärglieder”, traditional songs are reinterpreted and of course the comical and humorous elements have their place... This extensive digipak contains a twenty-page booklet full of breathtaking alpine photography and includes all the lyrics in Swiss Alemannic dialect as well as their description in English. Frakmundt -- "Urbarglieder" -- CD -- €10
2010 Percht, Percht15
“Urbärglieder” is the debut CD of the Swiss Ur-Folk project FRÄKMÜNDT which was born out of the idea to revive old sagas and nearly forgotten songs and atmospheres of the alpine regions of Switzerland. Performed in alemannic central-Swiss dialect, the songs on “Urbärglieder” simulate a journey through landscapes and sagas of the quaint regions of Switzerland. They let you chase through stormwinds with the wild hunt at mount Pilatus or stroll under the paintings of the danse macabre over the Spreuerbridge in Lucerne. One can meet the devil in the Schöllenen gorge and follow the alpine herdsmen during their sad walk down to the valleys in autumn. The album is alternated by two sound-accentuated sagas and two atmospheric pieces, letting one share the horrors of the ghost-house in Stans and the mythical ambiance inside the Mondmilchloch cave. On “Urbärglieder”, acoustic guitars, accordion, violin, flutes and various percussion instruments generate melancholic melodies full of nostalgia, but also rousing hymns which invite to dance. The album is very diverse and never gets boring. Something new which was never heard before: Ur-Folk at its best. [press-release]

Frakmundt -- "Uufwarts E D'Fouse... " -- CD EP -- €7
2010 Percht, Percht17, (ltd. 1000)
"Uufwärts e d’Föuse" (Upward to the rocks) is a conceptual album which takes the listener on an imposing musical journey to untouched Alpine areas. As on "Urbärglieder" all tracks are presented in the typical Fräkmündt Central-Swiss alemannic dialect. After an "Alp-Blessing" ("Aupsääge"), the journey upwards is visualised using acoustic guitars, accordion, drums, hurdy-gurdy melodies and flute. The nighttime track “Höttehock” is a swinging and wild traditional dancing track with a catchy accordion melody and nice acoustic guitars. The last track "Stouz ond frey" (proud and free) is a devotional and powerful song with profound hurdy-gurdy, rhythmic guitar melodies and catchy accordion tunes. The MCD ends with a Dark Alpine Ambient track called "Bärgtröim" (Mountain Dreams) which smoothly leads the listener back to the valley. A varied 27-minute piece of extraordinary Ur-Folk music, which perfectly describes the mystic and legendary Alpine areas. Outsize sleeve. [Cold Spring]

Ganzer -- "Omega Point" -- CD-R -- €7
2012 Ufa Muzak, UFA 48, (ltd. 77)
Apocalyptic black harsh shoegaze. Along the metal walls of a small room slide the long shadows like interwined snakes. But there is nothing here and never have been, in this hazardous organic environment existence is impossible. Temperature heats up and steam swirls in white clouds. Gnash comes from the cracks in the floor and ceiling, someone tries to penetrate from the outside and strikes with great force with large-tonnage constructions. Sometimes noise becomes unbearable and the room shakes from waves of sonic pressure. Weightless like vapour this album of Ganzer streams from long huge rusty pipes randomly thrown on the ground. This hot smoke clogs the throat and tears the lungs. There is movement inside the pipes, soon it should come out. Half an hour of heavy waiting, listening deeply the harsh splashes of noise. The device indicator shows the way. There is nothing and has never been, in this metal box, in this prison, only an embossed inscription on the wall: your name and two dates, of your birth and your death. 6 tracks, 33 minutes, 6-panel cardboard sleeve with a rope and sticker. Grim -- "Psycho Sun" -- CD -- €10
2013 Steinklang Industries, SK68, (ltd. 500)
What Steinklang presents You here is the next REVOLUTION after the brilliant revival of Japans Ritual Industrial legend VASILISK. "Psycho Sun" is the first new album of Japans Noise-Pioneers GRIM since 27 years and their sound did not loose a single quantum of power in all those years! This is PURE GRIM, like three decades before!... In the mid 80ies GRIM released three incredible milestones of Industrial Noise music, the LP "Folk Music", as well as the 7" "Amaterasu" and the more folky 12" "Message". These three releases always were and still are the "holy grail" amongst the most wanted collectors-items of this genre... Short history: GRIM as well as VASILISK developed out of the legendary Industrial duo WHITE HOSPITAL (aka Jun Konagaya and Tomo Kuwahara). Both artists were mainly inactive over the last 25 years and now both felt the sparkle to start again doing music, but not like most other "re-starters", who are just a pale shade from their earlier times - GRIM and VASILISK are doing the same fantastic music now, than they did in their early years! Larrnakh -- "Now Will You Believe?" -- CD -- €10
2010 Steinklang Industries, SKD 27
Great NeoFolk album featuring (ex)members of CAWATANA, STURMAST and SCIVIAS! "Now will you believe?" is a brilliant mix of classical guitar-based NeoFolk with electronic elements, varied and assembled with droning Ritual/Dark-Ambient tracks. The mix of two completely different styles in music makes this album to a outstanding new milestone of "crossovers". Dark and sometimes frightening soundscapes with samples, trumpets and haunting drums are compiled with beautiful harps, piano, violin and narrating vocals, rounded by fine NeoClassical elements. 7 songs / 41 min. Lopez, Francisco + Novi_sad -- "Titans" -- CD -- €10
2011 Gradual Hate Records, GH 112CD, (ltd. 500)
Sound artists Francisco Lopez (Spain) and Novi_sad (Greece) have explored together the blurred territory between reality and the creation of self-contained sound environments through a long process of transformation of sonic materials. Working with the same shared field recordings carried out in the region of Ancient Olympia in Greece, they have created two individual pieces with extreme dynamics, at times obscure and dense, but laden with hidden complexity and a few surprises for the most adventurous listeners. Lundvall, Tor -- "Ghost Years" -- CD -- €10
2010 Tursa, TURSA101
"Ghost Years" is my first retrospective CD featuring tracks from various compilations, vinyl-only releases plus some unreleased material. The focus is more on my vocal work, however there are a few instrumental pieces included as well. Although the music spans about a decade, I was surprised at how well the tracks flow together to make a coherent ensemble, evolving from my earlier song-oriented compositions to the more ambient nature of my recent recordings. Lustmord -- "The Word As Power" -- CD -- €17
2013 Blackest Ever Black, BLACKESTCD004
The Word As Power is the new studio album by Lustmord. Half a decade in the making, it’s an exploration of ritual music without dogma. For the first time in his 33-year career Lustmord places vocals at the centre of his abyssal ambient creations, coaxing incantatory performances out of Aina Skinnes Olsen, Jarboe (ex-Swans), Maynard James Keenan (Tool) and Soriah. Those looking to properly decode the subject matter of the album are advised to study Simon Fowler’s fiendishly elaborate, double-spread cover illustration. Suffice it to say here that it concerns "the word" as written - signs, ciphers, symbology, semantics, etymology - and as spoken - myths, mantras, chants, invocation and evocation. Of course it’s also about the unwritten, the unspoken; that which exists beyond the reach of language. Sonically, The Word As Power is even more detailed, expansive and consuming than Lustmord’s followers have come to expect, with voices, electronics, immense sub-bass, field recordings and other acoustic phenomena harnessed and arranged to stimulate feelings of dread and desolation, certainly, but also escape, renewal and rebirth. Novy Svet -- "Fin. Finito. Infinito" -- CD -- €15
2004/2006 The Nekofutschata Musick Cabaret, neko 16
Even within the enigmatic discography of NOVY SVET the album FIN. FINITO. INFINITO takes a special place. The original 12" coming in an edition of 77 copies only offered nothing more than the title in embossed red letters - the rest was all blackness. The group's comments to this major work summed up to complete silence, which opened space for a mass of partly obscure interpretations. For sure this album was conceived as a good-bye, finding a climax in the suicidal title track. Rare example of a cult item coming up to the listener's expectations for the first time on digital format. [label info]
Phd2 -- "Resource" -- CD -- €15
2002 Dark Vinyl, DV #36
New album by PHD2 (the dark ambient project of PHALLUS DEI). PHD2's successor to their critically acclaimed debut album "Universum" from 1996, offers six new dark ambient tracks for your nocturnal listening pleasure. Your personal guide to the darkest innerself. Distant, floating soundcollages weave in and out over a subharmonic, pulsating bassdrum as your vibrating woofer reminds you of LUSTMORD's deepest releases. Technoid, repeating synthpatterns blend in with subtle, minimal melodies, while contemporary beat programming underlined with cinematic soundscapes evoke an atmosphere thats vaguely reminiscent of BIOSPHERE or MOUSE ON MARS. With their combination of adventurous beats and organic soundscapes PHD2 have their hand on the vein of modern dark ambient, and honestly said this could become one of the best dark ambient releases this year as RESOURCE might be what everybody would have expected to be the new album by Lustmord since years... Rasthof Dachau -- "Prison Poems" -- CD -- €10
2006 Steinklang Records, SK36
7 years went by since the last album from this Austrian Cold-Electronic project was released. "Prison Poems" is a conceptual work about the Irish civil-rights movement in the 70ies of the last century. The album deals about the fate of a handful young IRA volunteers, imprisoned for political affairs, but then simply sentenced as criminals. After a long hungerstrike, the young men died, forgotten from the rest of the world. Most songtexts on this album were written by one of these young men who died from hunger. He wrote these poems on toilet- and cigarette-paper with the refill of a biro-pen, hidden inside his body in the years before he died. The sound on this album varies from dark and cold songs a la GalaktHorroe to early SPK-like Heavy-Electronic tracks. All with hard or subliminal rhythms and psychic analogue frequencies. ROME -- "Hell Money" -- CD -- €17
2012 Trisol, TRI 458 CD
„Hell Money“ is different. You’ve probably known ROME as an entity creating an invigorating meta-political, para-religious universe, functioning according to its own code and incorporating all kinds of elements from history to philosophy and musical expressions into one catchy collection of songs within an industrial-ish, brainy collage. „Hell Money“ is different. You’ve most likely heard Jerome’s voice as coming from the depths of pan-European wisdom, toying with poetic elements from expressionism to post-modernism, with each word of poetry sucking you way more into a sweet world of oblivion, a soothing chanson crooner indebted to the traditions American and European folk. „Hell Money“ is different. You’ve come to love ROME’s concept collages, shedding new light on the realities of the world and its history, whilst giving a voice to the downtrodden. „Hell Money“ is –yet again– different. „Hell Money“ is an emotional tour-de-force through the twisted inner workings of a tormented individual. A journey into a heart of sadness, where greed, addiction and self-immolation have taken their toll on sanity. The songs remain fragmentary and crude. The voice on this album is not the voice of reason, it is an individual unashamed, yet deeply tormented by the demons that have come to haunt it. The music is built primarily by an anger-driven acoustic guitar and a voice bereft of poetic hipness. No martial drums, no retro-sampling, but drums and sampling nonetheless. „Hell Money“ is sparse, crude, intimate, sick... and ultimately honest. [press-release]
Sleep Research Facility -- "Stealth" -- 2 CD -- €14
2012 Cold Spring, CSR159CD, (ltd. 1000)
Sublime new album from the drone / dark ambient legend. As a project commissioned for Cold Spring, "Stealth" presents itself as an exploration of sounds neither here nor there, textures camouflaged against their own background noise, and the distant crackling telemetric code-speak of a vague humanity hidden behind a cloak of deadly high-technology. Comprising of five deeply-layered extended tracks, mixed and edited from re-sampled location recordings originally captured inside the hanger environs of a Northrop-Grumman B-2 Stealth Bomber, during a period of downtime maintenance at a U.S. Air Force base in Cambridgeshire, England. Original field recordings and texture preparations by FOURM/Si_Comm. First edition pressing of 1000 copies includes bonus disc comprised of this *pre-mix* material in its original, un-edited form, as a representation of the source audio from which "Stealth" was reconstituted. Deep listening inspired by one of the most mysterious aircraft of the twentieth-century. Headphones recommended. [press-release]

Sol Invictus -- "The Devil's Steed" -- CD -- €15
2005 Dark Vinyl / Tursa, DV 50 / TURSA T2
This new album of Sol Invictus, now on the German Dark Vinyl label after the demise of World Serpent Distribution, again goes back to the early days of the band. The songs resemble that era more than the recent work did, since that was richer in instrumentation and had more experiment in composition. This time the power is in the songs of "the man with the guitar" again and with this the record perfectly resembles classics like."The Killing Tide".or "Trees in Winter". Songs with a strong nostalgic feeling and historical consciousness, embedded in the enchanting effect of the for the fan familiar guitarplay of Sol Invictus. Sometimes inspired on traditional songs, and sometimes not. Sometimes venomous like in "A Steed for the Devil" and sometimes accessible like and easy to sing-a-long to like "There Did Three Knights Come From The West". Tony Wakeford gets musical help from old regulars like Karl Blake, Gary Parsons, Renee Rosen and Eric Roger. Matt Howden and Sally Doherty are not there anymore. The atmosphere of the record is dark, like the album title and the beautiful artwork by Tor Lundvall, already suggest. This is a record that feels like a warm bath when listening to it, so recognisable and yet so good this is... Sol Invictus doesn't let itself loose it's head but with this solid album prove to still remain to the absolute top of modern European darkfolk. [from Gothtronic review]

Stahlwerk 9 -- "Revolution of the Antichrist" -- CD -- €10
2007 Steinklang Industries, SK 43, (ltd. 666)
Stahlwerk 9's new Dark/Death Ambient album R.O.T.A. is more quiet and ritual than his recent works. R.O.T.A. can be compared to his earlier albums "Oradour" and "1905", but a lot more sacral. Deep, sumbliminal drummings, heavy organs and bells and ominously dronning soundscapes guide you to your private Aramgeddon. A blackest soundtrack for the end of the world... The artwork consists of a folder in 7"-size, holding 10 large inlays on heavy cardbord. All paintings on the folder and the inlays were drawn by the Russian painter Alexander Nemkovsky (http://nemkovsky.info), who already worked with Peter Anderson (Raison d'Etre). "With the approach of the Antichrist's authority comes the moment for mankind, of conscious man-godkind and satan-godkind, which have the task to abolish the authority of God and to give the maximum global power to man and devil." (Lev Tikhomirov, "Religious-philosophical Bases of a History"). [press release]

Stormfagel -- "Eldvakt" -- CD -- €10
2010 Steinklang Industries, SK 51
The new album of the swedish Martial cult-band is out on Steinklang now! Stormfågel are well known from their brilliant two albums on Cold Meat Industry, but the third album even tops the first albums. "Eldvakt" is a incredible mix of early Derniere Volonte and Rome with a strong touch of new Blood Axis. Pure Martial PowerPop at it's very best! Just listen to the mp3s below, you will be amazed! Stormfågel spread its wings for the first time in the autumn of 2004. The creator of Stormfågel, Andreas Neidhardt, acted in several Neofolk and Gothic bands since the early 90s. In February of 2005 Stormfågel released a 3-track demo named "Kinder der Vergangenheiten, Helden aus den grauen Zeiten" and was immediately signed by Swedish record label Cold Meat Industry. During the making of their debut album vocalist Éva Mag joined Stormfågel. In the autumn of 2005 "Den nalkande stormen" (cmi 149) saw the light of day. The reception of the album were overall positive and Andreas and Éva started immediately working on some new material. During this time an old friend to both Éva and Andreas joined Stormfågel; Mikael Bergström. In the spring of 2007 Stormfågel released their second album: "Ett berg av fasa" (cmi 171). This followed by two live performances. In Budapest and at that years WGT in Leipzig. At the Cold Meat Industry festival in Augsburg (17/11 2007) Stormfågel released a 4-track record called "Svenska visor" (Kultur & Politik 003). In december 2007 Éva Mag decided to leave Stormfågel. Svarrogh / Defile Des Ames / Arnica -- "South European Folk Compendium" -- CD -- €10
2009 Ahnstern, Ahnstern37
This thriple-split CD is a unique compendium of South European folk music, inspired by Balkan, Catalan and Hellenic traditional culture. The sources and the stylistic devices of the three artists are quite different and descending from three different cultural regions, but there is just one intention and one deep mythological spirit, that unites the musicians to build up an axis through the mediterranean sunlit landscapes. On this album you will drown into the ritual, Alpine-Folk shamanism of Arnica, using a wide range of traditional instruments and the spirit of Catalunya - Svarrogh drags you to the deep and dark forests of Bulgaria by slavic chants, where you will meet the god Veles in his wooden shrine - and you will waft through a droning and apocalyptic haze to the powerful and emotional hellenic spheres of Defile des Ames from Greece. - 10 songs / 60 min. Tarab -- "I'm Lost" -- CD -- €10
2014 23five, 23five 019
A schizoid-concrete opus of environmental sounds heightened, stimulated, decontextualized, and teased into a psychic puzzle of industrialized and post-industrialized detritus, I'm Lost marks another milestone in the ever impressive catalogue from Australian sound-artist Eamon Sprod, who adopts the moniker Tarab for his endeavors. The title is one that explodes with a multitude of meaning. There's the geographical frustration in losing one's way as the surrounding landmarks fail to match with whatever technology may be in use (e.g. a sextant, a compass, an iPhone, a torn map, one's poor memory of a childhood neighborhood, etc.). There's the psychological implications of being lost from the existential narratives that we have scripted for ourselves due to broken relationships, failed jobs, dead relatives, natural disasters, the hand of God, etc. In addition to these possibilities, Sprod proposes that the notion of "lost" could also be an inversion of the idea of the "found object" or the "found sound," instead becoming the "lost object" or the "lost sound." Sprod's semantic wordplay is hardly a conceptual gimmick, as he fully immerses himself in the confusional framework while maintaining a consummate technical prowess over his field recordings. The compositional approach is rhizomatic, with dead-ends, wrong turns, and reprisals of these same dead-ends and wrong turns, offering a blackhumor sneer at the stubbornness of humanity's inability to learn from our mistakes (e.g. pollution, blight, poverty, disease, etc). Within the album's harsh edits and disjointed collages, Sprod renders sound with dysphoric associations through his vacant drift, crumbled gravel, scalding plasma-tube frequencies, and putrid factory noise. I'm Lost achieves the same psychological gravity as heard in the works of Sudden Infant, P16.D4, and John Duncan with an even greater sense of dislocation from those pioneers of radical tape splicing. TETHRIPPON's composing and poetry come to bring warmth to civilized and delicate hearts and a nostalgia for what is really missing from a romantic man's internal seek for an ideal world. Vinterriket -- "Entlegen" -- CD -- €10
2013 Heimatfolk, HF 14, (ltd. 500)
Similar to the last full-length album “Horizontmelancholie” (Steinklang Industries/Heimatfolk, 2008), the new VINTERRIKET album "entlegen" (meaning “remote”, ”far-flung”, “outlying”) features songs full of coldness, melancholy, desolation, emptiness and chilling atmospheres which do perfectly capture the dark side of nature. "Entlegen" is again a Neofolk/Dark Ambient masterpiece and an outstanding tribute to the darkest side of nature. Haunting and cold electronic soundscapes are mixed with atmospheric acoustic guitars and clean vocals. "Entlegen" is an album of haunting and evocative aural tapestries, an emotive display of tension and calm - a darkened imagery of shadowed forests and vast, endless landscapes - a journey into deep woods, misty snow-covered hills, majestic sceneries, into the dark side of the soul. "Entlegen" was mastered at Luftschutzkerker / Switzerland and features 8 tracks with a playing time of 62 minutes. Comes in 6 pannel digipak. [press-release]
