Hau! Extraordinarily hot summer this year in St. Petersburg, and packed with events too. For us the biggest event is making our own stage at the PROPHETIC MOSS festival where about 30 interesting projects will perform during two nights. Great music should also be found at two other stages, so if you somehow happen to be in St. Petersburg area in mid-July, welcome to the forest! Today's mailorder update feature great variety of non-standard music from ambient and industrial to harsh noise and even new wave. Russian musicians / labels are represented by two new releases by small but nice label Pocket Fields, a couple of cassettes from Destroy Sounds Records, new tapes by Pustota project and a selection of new wave / synth-pop releases by Other Voices Records. European stage pleases the ears by new releases of the cult label Galakthorrö, the Austrian conglomerate Steinklang Records and the active Polish label Zoharum (reissues of Maeror Tri, Hybryds, Rapoon and lots of interesting Polish projects). Cheers, M.M. 26.06.2013 |
Aabzu -- "There's No Other God Than Rambo!" -- CD -- €10
2012 Zoharum, ZOHAR IYHHH 007, (ltd. 444)
Maciek Szymczuk and Lukasz Szalankiewicz. Two restless spirits. Working together since 2002. The first result was released on "Nowe:le" (Rec Vivo, 2002) - a song "There's No Way", still credited to Zenial vs. Maciek Szymczuk. In 2005 AABZU's debut album "The Shape of Lost Things" (Simple Logic Rec - split from PHYRL) was released, presenting a world of delicate structures, based on all kinds of glitches and ambient, repetitive backgrounds. Next years the group spent on playing concerts in the country and abroad, participating in many festivals such as UNSOUND, ELECTRO-MECHANICS, WRO and MPM Ambient Gorlice. In the meantime, the duo was preparing the material for their second album. "Rambo" was published in 2010, thanks to AudioTong, picking up rave reviews and is not taking prisoners, just like the title character of this release. Music, richer and more diverse than on its predecessor, sparkles with many colours and remains, despite this heterogeneity, consistent. In one composition, Mian Mian, a Chinese writer (known for "Candies"), recites excerpts from her new book... After the release of "Rambo", the group played many concerts presenting new material. The recording of their 2010 MPM Ambient Gorlice festival gig - one of the best AABZU shows - was released in 2012 on Zoharum entitled "There's No Other God Than Rambo." The band is currently working on their third album, continuing their way to resisting stylistic limitations. [press-release]

Aerial FX -- "Same River Twice" -- CD -- €10
2010 Other Voices Records, VOX3CD, (ltd. 500)
Around 1980/81 Oxford based band Exit 13 changed their sound & changed their name to Aerial FX. They signed a publishing deal with Island Music, released 2 singles ('So Hard' on Square Records & then 'Take It From Here' on Island Records), & then bagged enough studio time to record 'Watching The Dance' LP which was released on Kamera Records along with a single 'Instant Feelings'. They played shows around London & the UK throughout that period. Around 1982/83 the focus changed to studio recording & Melton & Bladon left the band. The other 3 continued writing & recording & EMI Records signed them mid 1983. Unfortunately there were creative disagreements with EMI & they didn't progress out of the studio, finally being dropped at the end of 1984. Their studio experiments continued for another couple of years but nothing was released & they stopped making music as AFX around 1986. Nowadays Chris Hufford is well-known in music industry as the manager of Radiohead, Supergrass and Gamma Hayes, he also produced some of Radiohead's early recordings, a group he would help steer to massive global success. Chris also run his new project Anti Atlas (Downtempo, IDM, ambient). In the year of 2010 a collection of 12 previously unreleased AFX tracks from 1980 and 1984 was released on CD by Other Voices Records. [press-release]

Aghast Manor -- "Gaslights" -- CD -- €10
2012 Infinite Fog Productions, IF-18 / Eternal Pride Productions, EPP-19
Aghast Manor is a creation of Andrea Nebel (Aghast, Hagalaz Runedance, Nebelhexe) who - after working for quite some time on dark movie soundtracks - recently also re-introduced her old Aghast songs to actors and filmdirectors such as Scott Derrickso and David Lynch. As a result, Andrea got received new inspiration and she decided to work again on a full album with dark tracks! Aghast Manor is inviting you to haunting darkness and decadent visions, providing perfect soundtracks for dark disturbing atmospheres. With a blend of sinister ambient and classical tunes the first album 'Gaslights' is giving you images of industrial lunacies, victorian visions of opium smokes and dark poetry, femme fatales, Jack the Ripper and Lovecraftian occult experiences... Travis Ryan from Cattle Decapitation has submitted a song called 'Suck My Drain', vividly describing the atmospheres within slaughterhouses and other death camps. Aghast Manor's 'Gaslights' must be enjoyed at night, either in darkness or with candle light. [press-release]

Allerseelen -- "Rauhe Schale" -- CD -- €10
2010 Aorta, AORCD13
"Rauhe Schale" ('Rough Shell') is the brand new album from Austrian legends Allerseelen, which fascinates musically as well as visually. Everything moves and flows in a field of force between industrial, metal, folklore and pop. Lovers of bands like Nine Inch Nails, Einstürzende Neubauten, Laibach or Underworld could also fall in love with Allerseelen. Gerhard Hallstatt sometimes describes his music as Electronic Folklore or Apocalyptic Rock. But basically there is no real description for Allerseelen - all attempts to find an expression for their music may be valid for some time, yet lose their meaning after a couple of months or years. The songs were inspired by various magical mystery tours in Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Italy and Slovenia. Gerhard is assisted here by Dimo Dimov (Svarrogh, Miel Noir, Sturmpercht), Marcel P. (Sagittarius, Miel Noir, Halgadom), Meri Tadic (Eluveitie) and Annabel Lee (Blood Axis). 70 mins. of music in a digipak with booklet. [Cold Spring]

Arnica -- "Numancia" -- CD EP -- €7
2010 Ahnstern, Ahnstern 47
Numancia was a small castro (name in Spanish for celtiberian village). The inhabitants from Numancia fought against the Roman Empire for more than twenty years. It was 133 b.C. Roma sent their best military man called Escipion to create a siege and destroy Numancia so they could have controlled the entire peninsula. However, when the Romans entered the village, the survivors decided to kill their own children, set their own belongings on fire to end up with their own lives. If the Empire controled Celtiberia they could not control their people. Musically Numancia is a invigorating trip from the magnificence of the village to the final decision of choose to die instead of being conquered. Solid drums and ritual elements are mixed with Heathen tunes the recognizable Ur-Folk sound. All texts are written and sung in Spanish and in the ancient Celtiberian language. After this release to homage our ancestors, Аrnica will depart back to the vast mountains of the Pyrenees… [press-release]

Atomtrakt -- "Sperrstelle Nordost" -- CD -- €10
2010 Steinklang Industries, SK052, ()
Two years after the highly acclaimed "Nuklearchetyp" album the mighty Atomtrakt are finally back with a new release entitled "Sperrstelle Nordost". This new opus sets new standards in the Apocalyptic / Martial Industrial scene: Words like 'bombastic', 'martial', 'heroic' or 'militant' definitely need to be re-defined. The atmosphere of "Sperrstelle Nordost" is threatening and cold. It leads the listener back to times of war and truly hits like an atomic bomb. "Sperrstelle Nordost" deals with the situation of Switzerland in the 2nd world war / cold war - "Sperrstell Nordost" is an area in Switzerland which was of national importance for the entire country during times of war. The lyrics deal with fears, death, decay and ambiguity. The album features a superb video clip for 'Trauermarsch'. 6-panel digipak. File next to Kreuzweg Ost or Triarii. [Cold Spring]

Bernstrup, Tobias -- "Sing My Body Electric" -- CD -- €10
2012 Other Voices Records, VOX11CD, (ltd. 500)
Tobias Bernstrup who works both as a visual artist and musician has been active for more than a decade and positioned him self as one of the leading re-inventors of Italo Disco with his unique mix of Italo, New Wave and Gothic Noir. He has created his own unmistakable stage persona wearing androgynous outfits of shiny latex and heavy make-up. The new album contains 11 smashing tracks, and some exciting guest vocal appearances. Among these Videodrome featuring vocals by Pascal Languirand of the legendary Trans-X. Other guests vocalists are Paola, Saralunden and finally; the Jan Hammer-like ballad 'No Time To Die' where Bernstrup sings a duet with Miss Liz of 'Xeno & Oaklander'. [press-release]

Bruno Swiatlocien -- "Czern I Ciern" -- CD -- €10
2013 Zoharum, ZOHAR 042-2
The debut album by BRUNO SWIATLOCIEN, a project founded by a musician and painter Bronislaw Ehrlich. 9 songs in the vein of postpunk, darkwave with hints of ambient and post-rock. Uncompomising lyrics and atmospheric music is a reflection of neurotic states of the band's leader. Their music is a must-have for fans of Joy Division, early years of The Wolfgang Press, but also fans of Blood Axis, In Gowan Ring or even Mogwai. One of the most promising debuts of the Polish new wave scene. The album was produced by Michal "Goran" Miegon - the musician of Kiev Office and The Shipyard, among the others, and the producer for many interesting bands hailing from 3city, Poland. Cafe De L'Enfer -- "Marchant А Quatre Pattes Au-devant De La Redemption" -- CD -- €10
2011 Steinklang Industries, SK 54
CAFE DE L'ENFER is one of the most promising new projects under the unconquerable sun of pure MARTIAL / NEOCLASSICAL music. Although the band is now located in Austria, their roots are manifested in the early 20th century of French underground society. Their music amazingly reflects the age of pre-Industrialisation and pure decadence. Best to compare with DERNIERE VOLONTE, ORDO ROSARIUS EQUILIBRIO, ELEND and a slight touch of LES JOYAUX DE LA PRINCESSE. [label info]

Caterpillars Dressed In Their Finest -- "Somewhere In Between" -- CD-R -- €12
2012 Pocket Fields, PF031
So..finally and again we glad to present Gimu and Emily and their Caterpillars Dressed In Their Finest. Their second album called “Somewhere In Between”. Emily wrote and record the poetry and Gimu creates the sound around the music. The idea of the album is to place poetry in a wall of sound. Sometimes you can hear the poems, sometimes they are built in as a part of the music. They both wanted to work together as soon as meeting through the internet. In hopes that they could create something different together. Second album is full of details and some inner emotions. The sound became denser and more saturated. Poetic monologue appear from nowhere and are dissolved in the waves of sound as in the sea. Music reflects the mood of the poet as well as personal experiences of a musician. Filing of space, isolation and loneliness impact in the visualization and design the album. Iceland.. Amazing place with stunning scenery, black beaches and hot geysers. Inside you can find grass and mosses collected in different parts of Iceland. [press-release] Complicated handmade package.

Different State -- "The Frigid Condition" -- CD -- €10
2012 Zoharum, ZOHAR 036-2
DIFFERENT STATE returns with their new album. "The Frigid Condition" is composed of 10 new songs uncovering the new, surprising face of the project; yet, it is not deprived of the typical elements that Marek Marchoff has managed to get us accustomed to via Different State's previous works. Their alchemical mixture of illbient, industrial and psychedelia is most visibly experienced on this particular album. Loads of new elements were added to Vera Beren - the new band member. Not surprisingly, John Kilgore, the engineer of the album (known as a Frank Zappa collaborator amongst others), left its significant mark on "The Frigid Condition". If you are ready to plunge into the cold, degenerate and claustrophobic world of Different State - this album will engage you for many hours. [press-release]

Dissecting Table -- "Ultra Materials 1986-1991" -- 2 CD -- €10
2007 Steinklang Industries, SK-IN 07, (ltd. 500)
Dissecting Table is one of the most influential Noise artists from the early Japanese Industrial years. The first Dissecting Table recordings are quite unique in the Japanese Industrial scene, as the band was working with very concrete rhythms and screaming voices and they even had dark and slow songs, which was completely untypical for this time and region. The only comparisons to early Dissecting Table recordings might be the legendary albums of GRIM and WHITE HOSPITAL. On this 2CD-set You find the A-side of the first 7" (Ultimate Psychological Description - 1986), the first LP (Ultra point of intersection exist - 1987), the first CD (Between life and death - 1990), all compilation tracks up to 1991 and even a UNRELEASED track from 1986! - this 2 CD-set is a milestone for Noise addicts and it's one of the most essential works in Noise music in general! Dissecting Table / Vasilisk -- "Saddharma / Tibetan Liberation" -- CD -- €10
2011 Steinklang Industries, SK-IN 18, (ltd. 500)
DISSECTING TABLE: Saddharma is a very intense Experimental Industrial-Noise Orgy, lasting over nearly 32 minutes. On this brilliant track, the mastermind of the Japanese Noise-Poineers DISSECTING TABLE, Ichiro Tsuji, combines different rhythmic oldschool-elements, experimental sounds and very dark/aggressive vocals, that remind to the band's early years. VASILISK: after the mysterious Japanese Power-Noise band "WHITE HOSPITAL" split up into "GRIM" and "VASILISK", the newborn band released 3 fantastic LPs in 1987-89, which became some of the most wanted and most expensive records in the collector's scene, already short after their release. In 1990 the 3 LPs were followed by a brilliant "best of" CD (Liaberation & Ecstasy), which was definitely one of the best Ritual albums ever released. After the release of this CD it went quite silent around the band, but now, after more than 20 years, Tomo Kuwahara (Vasilisk) is back with the same amazing Ritual Music than before! [press-release]

Escuadron de la Muerte with the characteristic apocalyptic sound is back and debut in Steinklang Industries label! “Birds of pain and blood” begins with a irruption opening into a world of modern warfare, lost voices of war in radio, following to obsessions of pain and murder. A atmosphere of forensic reports describes corpses in cold industrial sounds. Vultures are in the artwork, the only bird that is behind the prey, no matter how long can walk, the vulture is just waiting so finally death comes and the dinner of the flesh eaters is done, it is the endless persecution, you see the feathers fall in the air, the smell of blood, and the red iron boiling. Escuadron de la Muerte is here,… the omnious and constant fist of death! [press-release]

2010 Percht, Percht17, (ltd. 1000)
"Uufwärts e d’Föuse" (Upward to the rocks) is a conceptual album which takes the listener on an imposing musical journey to untouched Alpine areas. As on "Urbärglieder" all tracks are presented in the typical Fräkmündt Central-Swiss alemannic dialect. After an "Alp-Blessing" ("Aupsääge"), the journey upwards is visualised using acoustic guitars, accordion, drums, hurdy-gurdy melodies and flute. The nighttime track “Höttehock” is a swinging and wild traditional dancing track with a catchy accordion melody and nice acoustic guitars. The last track "Stouz ond frey" (proud and free) is a devotional and powerful song with profound hurdy-gurdy, rhythmic guitar melodies and catchy accordion tunes. The MCD ends with a Dark Alpine Ambient track called "Bärgtröim" (Mountain Dreams) which smoothly leads the listener back to the valley. A varied 27-minute piece of extraordinary Ur-Folk music, which perfectly describes the mystic and legendary Alpine areas. Outsize sleeve. [Cold Spring]

Hybryds -- "Mythical Music From The 21st Century" -- CD -- €10
1986/2013 Zoharum, ZOHAR 041-2
This is the second volume in the ongoing series of Hybryds reissues on Zoharum and it coincides with the 30th anniversary of artistic work of Sandy Nys and company. "Mythical Music from the 21st Century", the first full Hybryds release, collects tracks recorded between 1983 and 1986 scattered on various compilations. Yet they form the first representation of their venture into the world of sonic rituals and magic. Their perspective on sound still has not been imitated or copied and even after 30 years they still sound fresh. In the words of Sandy Nys: "The first recordings were made in 1983. During the next years more recordings and musical rituals were created with different people in different places. In this first release about 20 people were involved. The recordings were a field trip, a diary of my life. The recordings became a story. The mythical story of NaHeMa. Most of the songs were sent for compilations on independent labels, yet the complete story was released in 1986 for the first time as a cassette on 3RIORECORDINGS (there was also a very limited edition in a box of 30 copies with the Dream Machine building prints.) In 1990 it was re-released by Nuit et Brouillard (France) as a cassette in a small box. In 1998 a limited picture disc in an edition of 666 copies was released by Triton (Germany). This version is shorter than the cassette one. This new CD release contains extras: the unreleased live version of "Sacred Voices," performed live on Radio Centraal and an unreleased mix of "Octahedron" by the Alpha Project." The album has been digitally remastered from the original stereo cassette master by none else but Sandy Nys, who also provided the cover based on the previous editions. This is the ritual music at its best. Now you can enjoy it in the best digital quality. [press-release]

Kopp, Hermann -- "Zyanidanger" -- CD -- €15
2013 Galakthorrö, Galakthorrö 032
On his new album Hermann Kopp devotes himself to the subject of Alchemy, having been triggered by the book “Die Geschichte Der Chemie” (The History of Chemistry) which was published in 1843 in Braunschweig written by an author by the name of Hermann Kopp. One is always astounded by these strange accidents of Fate. Notwithstanding, on the Zyanidanger album, nothing is left to Fate, conceptually or musically. The theme is excitingly put into action, the script is expertly interpreted (“mise-en-Scene”) and every weird note perfectly placed. The recording is full of gruesome melodies and it should be mentioned that Hermann Kopp lays a high value on production technique, bringing back to us, rejuvenated, the raw scent of the 80s. This in combination with his morbid-minimalistic compositions is an unbeatable mixture. The music on Zyanidanger is so utterly poisonous and deathly tragic, that it turns all the right mind-screws, letting us float in a kind of melancholy high. Which goes to prove that as a Sound Wizard and Tonal Alchemist, Hermann Kopp has certainly done his homework! An die Chemie! CD in matt finish digipac, 16-page booklet. [press-release]

Lagowski presents Legion -- "False Dawn" -- 2 CD -- €15
1992/2012 Zoharum, ZOHAR 033-2
LEGION came as a surprising side-project in comparison to the British audio visual technician's regular tracks released up to that date. "False Dawn" was an excellent venture into the world of spacey electronica which might have served as a complement to the dense world of techno on LAGOWSKI's early vinyl releases and to the dark wave of NAGAMATZU. Containing two lengthy tracks ("Colossus" and "The Plasma Pool") supported by a short rhythmic "Accurone", it explored the potential of digital electronics in order to create atmospheric soundscapes, for which it was critically praised. 20 years on, this dusty classic has gained a well deserved reissue. The new mastering was prepared by Lukasz Miernik (responsible for his excellent work on "From Earth to Sirius" compilation containing a track by S.E.T.I. - another Andrew Lagowski side-project) and the cover was redesigned by Maciej Mehring (who has done most of Zoharum's cover designs). It has been expanded to include 7 rare/unreleased bonus tracks and has been adorned with an additional part entitled "False Dawn Revisited". The latter contains remixes of the three original tracks by Geomatic, Zenial and Maciek Szymczuk. These two additional sections give you a different perspective on "False Dawn" and LEGION's ambient stylistics. Here it is... False Dawn... to be discovered... again. The reissue is presented in a 2CD edition in a luxurious 6-panel digipak. [press-release]

Larrnakh -- "Now Will You Believe?" -- CD -- €10

Great NeoFolk album featuring (ex)members of CAWATANA, STURMAST and SCIVIAS! "Now will you believe?" is a brilliant mix of classical guitar-based NeoFolk with electronic elements, varied and assembled with droning Ritual/Dark-Ambient tracks. The mix of two completely different styles in music makes this album to a outstanding new milestone of "crossovers". Dark and sometimes frightening soundscapes with samples, trumpets and haunting drums are compiled with beautiful harps, piano, violin and narrating vocals, rounded by fine NeoClassical elements. 7 songs / 41 min. Maculatum -- "The Nameless City" -- CD -- €10
2012 Malignant Records, TUMORCD59, (ltd. 500)
The Nameless City is the debut of Maculatum, the much anticipated collaborative project of Malignant dark ambient stalwarts Collapsar and Rasalhague. 6 tracks of visionary and cinematic black ambience based on Lovecraftian mythology, populated by unseen cosmic horrors and shapeless forms. The sound here is vast and luminous, and yet simultaneously menacing and oppressive…swirls of sprawling drones infused with ethereal murk and a steady stream of richly textured percussion, cavernous creaks, terrifying rituals, and heavily reverbed, ghostly vocalizations that arise from deep within the jungle and ruins of an ancient civilization. This is exactly what you want in a collaboration such as this…the best aspects of both Collapsar and Rasalhague brought together, without sounding derivative of either project. Limited to just 500 copies, in slim, fold out eco-wallet, this is of course a must for all those that appreciate dark ambience that goes beyond the realms of the ordinary. [press-release]

Maeror Tri -- "Emotional Engramm" -- CD -- €10
1997/2012 Zoharum, ZOHAR 034-2
The reissue of a long-forgotten classic MAEROR TRI album with stunning new artwork and newly remastered sound. Back in 1997, it turned out to be the last album by this experimental trio of German droners composed of Stefan ‘Baraka[h]’ Knappe, Martin ‘GLIT[s]CH’ Gitschel and Helge Siehl. The former two later formed TROUM (Zoharum releases: “Autopoiesis / Nahtscato” and “Seeing-Ear Gods” (A Continuous Journey in Six Parts) and the latter 1000SCHOEN. During their nine-year existence, they recorded a handful of albums and cassettes with their unique mixture of minimalism, industrial, ambient and drone, exploring the brains of potential listeners. „Emotional Engramm” is MAEROR TRI 's most refined effort to date. After years of experimenting, the group came to a characteristic sound composed of layers of electrically/electronically-treated acoustic instruments. Their organic sound achieved the most accessible form on „Emotional Engramm”;. Clocking in at just under 80 minutes, the seven tracks presented here show Maeror Tri at its best. The reissue is presented in a lavish 6-panel digipak designed by Marcin Lojek (Ibsen Design, New Nihilism label, Mantichora and Schmerz bands) with a foreword by Martyn Bates (EYELESS IN GAZA). The album has been faithfully remastered by Lukasz Miernik (Dead Cat Mastering). [press-release]

Marchoff, Marek X. & Droin -- "Source Of Vectors" -- CD -- €10
2013 Zoharum, ZOHAR IYHHH 008, (ltd. 444)
The next eighth instalment in the IYHH series. This time it's the MARCHOFF/DROIN album - a chronicle of their sonic experiments. "Source of Vectors" is the most uncompromising face of these two artists. Sounds in the vein of glitch, power electronics, electroacoustics and noise aesthetics can be found on the album. There is lots of dub/illbient rhythms, so characteristics for DIFFERENT STATE. compositions' comprise this sonic subconscious journey. The influence of it is current flow, extremities of electricity, experiments with electrical power, finding its source, hence the symbols as titles. Quite close located to Coil's "Worship the Glitch" and "Time Machines". Moreover, the album is dedicated to Peter 'Sleazy' Christopherson. A must-have album for fans of DROIN (earlier releases on Beast of Prey) and DIFFERENT STATE. The album is released in an ecopack with a postcard and limited to 444 hand-numbered copies. Monopium -- "The Goat And The Dead Horses' Circus" -- CD -- €10
2012 Zoharum, ZOHAR 037-2
”The Goat & Dead Horses' Circus” is a new child for MONOPIUM. After a great debut album “Mesmerized” MONOPIUM returns with double force. The surrealist titles hint at the fact that the album is filled with abstract music and slightly degenerated, out of this world sounds. Twelve compositions introduce the listener to the world of magical fairytales. Welcoming you to an adventure based on a soundtrack of deranged improvisations; experiments with cut-ups and exotica. All of this has created a specific atmosphere, an aura of secrecy, that binds all the elements into one entity. The tracks have been graced by guest appearances by two extraordinary artists: Euski (ROMA AMOR) and EmmA WyrD (CHRONIQUE NOCTURNE). The cover was designed by Robert Schalinski (of Column One fame). The CD is presented in a 6-panel digipak. [press-release]

Nyodene D -- "Edenfall" -- CD -- €10
2012 Malignant Records, TUMORCD57
Founded in 2008, Nyodene D has quickly risen in the ranks to become one of America’s premier death industrial/power electronics acts. Each release shows Nyodene D becoming stronger and stronger, capturing the essence of the true old school aesthetic, yet taking it to new realms of intensity and physicality. The 6 tracks on Edenfall are rife with the threat of violence… harrowing, yet majestic in its scope, with scraps of heaving scrap metal and searing tones intersecting with walls of thick, corrosive synth noise and defiant vocals. What separates this from the pack though is its sense of composition and structure, even as it ratchets up into near impossible levels of ferocity, the sounds barely contained as they reach a fevered pitch. Tracks like Nihilation and Borne On Vulture’s Beak show the roots of some of Aaron’s influences, moving into a more unsettling, restrained style of European power electronics, channeling Ex.Order and IRM, with a slower, more surreptitious attack. As a whole, this has to be considered one of the more essential heavy electronic releases ever released under the Malignant banner. Features appearances by Shift, Sky Burial, and Rope of American war metal band Prosanctus Inferi and supreme death metal band Father Befouled. Comes in a full color digipak with lyrics and booklet, with photographs from Stephen Petrus and layout and design courtesy of Andre Coelho of Sektor 304. [press-release]

2012 Ahnstern, Ahnstern 49
The Rutted Road is the the third album by French Neofolk band Pale Roses, following Fear Of Dawn (The Eastern Front 2010) and Unveiled (Rage in Eden 2011). Basically, the music remains the same: pastoral guitar arpeggios, melodic bass lines, a bit of piano. However more percussion and sound effects than in the first two albums. Lyrics are a tribute to some historical places (Bedlam and Tyburn), to a few of our favorite authors (The Infidel is inspired by Ambrose Bierce’s Devil’s Dictionary, From The Ancient Woodland by Robert Holdstock and Sea Horses by WH Hodgson; Ancient Mariner, though inspired by ST Coleridge, is not an Iron Maiden cover) and to pagan beliefs and various elements of folklore. Rapoon -- "Seeds In The Tide, Vol. 1" -- 2 CD -- €15
2012 Zoharum, ZOHAR 038-2
2012 sees the 20th anniversary of solo artistic work of an artist extraordinaire Robin Storey under the moniker Rapoon. Since 1992 and the release of his debut album "Dream Circle", Robin has been exploring the potential of post-indutrial ambience enhanced with ethnic sounds of African and Indian origin and using trial-and-error techniques inspired by contemporary experimentalists such as Karlheinz Stockhausen and krautrock giants such as Can and Faust to create elusive soundscapes too enchanting to ignore. With over 50 releases under his belt, he has become one of the most prolific household names in the world of experimental electronics. His works, sometimes harsh in nature, sometimes evocative or even gloomy, gained many devoted followers all over the world. Also in Poland, in Zoharum's headquarters. Together with Robin Storey, we prepared this first volume in the series of archive releases celebrating 20 years of Rapoon's existence. "Seeds in the Tide" will collect all the rare tracks released on compilations, small or limited formats. The first disc entitled "Keepsakes and Oddities" contains tracks recorded between 1993 and 1999. The second one is a reissue of the ultra-limited CDR version of the well-known "Messianicghosts" album which inclides the original version of the four tracks from that album that are significantly different from their later variants. The tracks were faithfully restored by Maciej Bartkowiak. The paintings on the cover is by Mr. Robin Storey himself and the design duties were handled by Zoharum in-house designer Maciej Mehring. This is the 4th Rapoon release on Zoharum. And this one is really a treat. The double album celebrates the 20th anniversary of "Vernal Crossing" release, Robin Storey's third album. But it's not a mere reissue. The artist revisited the original and adapted it for the 21 century, hence the title. "Vernal Crossing Revisited" is two sides of the same coin: the first disc contains the original album (faithfully remastered by our label's favourite Lukasz "Wookie" Miernik) and the other one being the 2013 reinterpretation of the original. This is Rapoon at its most rhythmic stage. Prepare yourself for the journey to the desert. [press-release]

Rauhnacht -- "Waldeinsamkeit" -- CD EP -- €7
2012 Percht, Percht18, (ltd. 300)
"Waldeinsamkeit" is completely based on the lyrics and sounds of STURMPERCHT, the legendary creators of Alpine Folk music. This mini-Album with a playingtime of 28 minutes was in fact recorded BEFORE the debut album "Vorweltschweigen", but due to unknown reasons never finished. In autumn 2012 the band was able to complete the recordings, so that we could finally release this pearl of finest Alpineblackmetal now. RAUHNACHT is a dark journey through deep forests and misty mountains, full of Alpine Battle Hymns and grim Martial Anthems for mountain trolls. "Waldeinsamkeit" (means: forest solitude) is deeply engrained in alpine mysticism, ancient pagan rites and heathen legends around strange fairies and wild folks. This sinister album entrains you to arcane mountains, dark chasms and gloomy underwood and guides you to the most secret places in the very depth of the holy Central European Alps, where wild hunters meet creepy creatures from dusk til dawn. Sensor -- "Naked" -- CD -- €9
2009 Intuition Records, INT29007, (ltd. 500)
Ten musical compositions recorded by Sensor within a year, was the outcome of prolonged studio sessions held through the Internet in distant parts of the globe. After several critically acclaimed digital EPs, in January 2009 Sensor came into the view of indie-label Intuition which made the decision to published debut album entitled 'Naked' on CD. This work can be described as New Wave or Pop-rock. Really, it is literally from the very first chords you can catch the romantic atmosphere of the 80s while masterly bass guitar sets rate of an album, bringing to mind early Frankie Goes to Hollywood and Simple Minds. For achievement of an original sound, musicians used the whole collection of ancient analogue synthesizers, processing them by means of modern devices and computers. As a result mainly guitar sound constantly is in harmony with electronic parts in the spirit of INXS and New Order. Not to miss for every fan of new wave / synth-pop music. [press-release]

The Silicon Scientist -- "Windows On The World" -- CD -- €10
2006/2012 Other Voices Records, VOX9CD / Anna Logue Records, ANNA 005-CD.2012, (ltd. 500)
The Silicon Scientist is Stefan Bornhorst from Northern Germany, and you will hear that he definitely has a deep fascination for analogue synthesizers and multi-layered melancholic and melodic electro-pop. In the early 90's, he started composing and recording many tracks under the name of Dreams Encoded. Also, Stefan was performing in The Convent in which he played synths and occasionally bass and guitar both live and in the studio. In 2003, Stefan founded the well-known German electro-pop-NDW group Sonnenbrandt together with The Convent's guitar player Jojo Brandt and Jojo's wife Frau Sonne. Their debut album 'Gestern' was released in 2008 with great response and praise. His solo efforts as The Silicon Scientist sees Stefan continue on a more melancholic path of electro-pop, recorded solely with analogue synthesizers and drum machines (and occasional sparse real bass and guitars). 'Windows on the World' was originally released as a vinyl LP+7" on Anna Logue Records in 2006, followed by The Silicon Scientist's second album 'Poly' in 2009. 'Windows on the World' now sees its CD re-issue, digitally remastered by Stefan himself in 2011/12 and including an exclusive remix of 'Home' and the ending track 'Good-bye to Frog-eyes' from the 'Bookmarks' CDr that accompanied the first 200 copies of the original vinyl release. Szymczuk, Maciek -- "Clouds" -- CD -- €10
2013 Zoharum, ZOHAR 040-2
The next Maciek Szymczuk album Clouds sees the light of the day on 28th February and it is a logical and perfect continuation of contemplative motives from its predecessor called Ways. Although the cover shows only Maciek's name, the album is filled with guest appearances which add energy and ideas to the 14 compositions gathered here. The music on Clouds is changeable, just like the nature of this weather phenomenon. At one point it is delicate and ethereal, when at the other it is stormy and dark (as signified on the cover.) With all its diversity, all the tracks form one coherent whole which helps to relax and meditate a bit. With more focus on atmosphere than bouncy rhythms, Clouds is more of a soothing experience. Shows massive potential and promise, as realized with Aeon and then Disintegration." [Malignant Records]

"Entlegen" is again a Neofolk/Dark Ambient masterpiece and an outstanding tribute to the darkest side of nature. Haunting and cold electronic soundscapes are mixed with atmospheric acoustic guitars and clean vocals. "Entlegen" is an album of haunting and evocative aural tapestries, an emotive display of tension and calm - a darkened imagery of shadowed forests and vast, endless landscapes - a journey into deep woods, misty snow-covered hills, majestic sceneries, into the dark side of the soul. The recording was funded by the university and provided the performers with some unique on-site instrumentation, including access to a collection of vintage analogue synthesizers, various orchestral instruments, and a bursary to purchase scrap metal to make new instruments. The group recorded over four hours of material in the University of Minnesota's Music Department studios. This release is taken from those recordings, as selected and mixed by band member Anthony Donovan... The collaboration between the musicians came about through a long time friendship between Schuyler Tsuda and Will Connor, who met in 2003 whilst studying music at the University of Hawai`i at Manoa. In the following years, Tsuda went on to work with Vultures Quartet members live in Germany and The Netherlands as well as submitting tracks to Anthony Donovan's periodic release of new music, Classwar Karaoke. This recording marks the first the group played together as a full quartet. The CD was entitled Sui Generis, which is Latin for "of its own kind" to reflect this new group with unique characteristics. Limited edition, packaged in 3panel digipack. [press-release]

Wiese, Klaus -- "Zen Room / Positive Zero" -- CD -- €25
2011 no label, (ltd. 100)
Not usual album for Klaus Wiese. "Positive Zero" is two long tracks aimed to create atmosphere for thinking - very far background drone, sounds of cicades, rhythmic metronome-like sounds which could remind of ball beating. Nothing more happens for a half of an our (Positive Zero 1) and nearly 23 minutes (Positive Zero 2). Soon you would forget that the record is playing and you would start thinking about the things important for you. Short untitled tracks - true KW style of ambient music. The album works as backround ambient music but don't wait for too much. This album is one of the last words of Klaus Wiese and it would be interesting for die hard fans of his music. [discogs.com] Ltd. only 100 copies, digibook.
X-NAVI:ET -- "Brain Overloaded" -- CD -- €10
2013 Zoharum, ZOHAR IYHHH 006, (ltd. 444)
"Brain Overloaded" is the new CD album created by Rafal Iwanski (X-NAVI:ET, Voices of the Cosmos, HATI) which is composed of electroacoustic compositions recorded with analogue tone generators, machine filters, synthesizers, and, to a lesser extent, acoustic objects. Apparently, it's the most electronic face of X-NAVI:ET, and, at the same time, the reckoning of the post-industrial style which was an important stage on Rafal Iwanski's creative path somewhere in the mid-1990s. "Brain Overloaded" is 7 sonic journey recorded between 2008 and 2011 related with the research on human brain. The question raised is if our industrial and digital world we created has started surpassing the capacity of our brains which were evolutionally designed to gather information. In other words, have they started to "overload"? Can the information surplus move us back? "Brain Overloaded" is an impulse for investigating ways of simply not going mad in this world. The album is dedicated to William S. Burroughs - one of the most enlightened minds of the era in which we are to live. The author of the paintings used on the cover is Ewa Binczyk, an artist from Torun. Attention! The symptoms unlikely to occur after listening to the album are the decrease of IQ, withdrawal, stupor and indifference. [press-release]

X-NAVI:ET / Anna Pilewicz -- "Aqualuna - Alchemical Transformation Through Vision And Sound" -- CD + DVD -- €15
2013 Zoharum, ZOHAR 039-2 / Eter, ETER 13
AQUALUNA project refers to primordial, organic pictures and sounds connected with the element of water and the Moon. It integrates dreamlike aquatic and lunar pictures which follow in succession, parallel to music composed for the film. To intensify the reception, the Authors, among other actions, made an efficient use of the synesthesia effect. The film is kept in the poetics of a dream, it constitutes a symbolic story about transformation. From the darkness, from a bright spot of the Moon-the jellyfish, a woman is born, breathing under water. The woman is dreaming and from her dream emerge oceanic spaces full of deep-sea creatures. In the depths of the ocean or human consciousness the alchemical transformations occur, leading in the final stage to the birth of a new transformed self. The video was created with the use of the following items, materials and devices: diascop, camera, computer, colorful liquids, glass, transparent objects and some pictures discovered elsewhere. The soundtrack was composed and recorded with the use of the following instruments and sound sources: analog synthesizer, analog filter machine, digital drummer, spring drums, rattles, cymbals, bells, stones, shells, metal objects, field recordings and electronic effects. Oak Folk is a CD anthology compiled by Gerhard Hallstatt from ALLERSEELEN with exclusive contributions by numerous European and North American groups who have one thing in common: a close connection to nature, to trees and woods. All the groups were invited to write a song about the sacred oaktree. The result is a wonderful compilation with songs with an atmosphere somewhere between Dark Ambient, Folklore and sometimes even a slight Black Metal touch. The CD comes in a 6-page-digipack edition with photographs by Gerhard Hallstatt, designed by Haate Kaate who already did stunning artwork for other Ahnstern groups like Allerseelen and Svarrogh. Bisclaveret / Feine Trinkers Bei Pinkels Daheim -- "Both Sides Of The Looking Glass" -- 7" -- €7
2012 Zoharum, ZOHAR 031-1SP, (ltd. 200)
Zoharum's first release on seven inch vinyl. 'Both Sides of the Looking Glass' is a split between BISCLAVERET & FEINE TRINKERS BEI PINKELS DAHEIM. As the title of publication, each of these projects has created a sound in a slightly different vein, based on the post-industrial stylistics. One medium, two sides, similar areas of music. The release is a collaboration of Bremen's FEINE TRINKERS BEI PINKELS DAHEIM and Gdansk's BISCLAVERET that began after their concert in London. Then the musicians of both groups, each appreciating the other's work, decided to prepare a joint release. On this occassion, they prepared a new piece of work exclusively for this release. 7" vinyl in a gatefold sleeve, strictly limited to 200 hand-numbered copies. [press-release]

Haus Arafna -- "All I Can Give" -- 7" -- €15
2013 Galakthorrö, Galakthorrö 034, (ltd. 903)
Haus Arafna have no problem fitting their full musical spectrum into just four songs. So, as usual, up and down it goes dynamically in search of Truth or Redemption, which probably amount to the same thing at Haus Arafna. To nihilistic vocals they are still playing analogue synthesisers, which they move to pulsing noise as much as driving “Pop”, lightly connected, which was not unusual in the earliest days of Industrial. 7" EP, black vinyl, sturdy cardboard cover. Kopp, Hermann -- "Zyanidanger" -- LP -- €25
2013 Galakthorrö, Galakthorrö 032, (ltd. 343)
12" LP, black vinyl, sturdy cardboard cover, printed inner sleeve, insert card. [press-release]

2013 Galakthorrö, Galakthorrö 033, (ltd. 489)
An extraordinary voice, wafted by a breath of post-Punk flair, carries itself well with technically precise synth arrangements and hard rhythm, Te/DIS proves that impressively to us with his Debut single. Finely tuned emotions stream life into the electroid monster and drive it ambitiously through the Darkness towards the soul, intending to take over control. This is completed with constant assurance, and leaves us overwhelmed by these four songs. 7" EP, black vinyl, sturdy cardboard cover. [press-release]

Booby Mason -- "Loop Waves And Rhythmic Reverberations" -- C-45 -- €5
2013 Destroy Sounds Records, DSR-028, (ltd. 50)
The album title precisely reflects the kind of music recorded here - cyclic waves of calm ambient sound, reverberations and field recordings, sometimes crossing the illusionary border with noise.

First side - one long dirty garage 18-min sludge track from Fantasticheskaja Zhaba ("fantastic toad") with viscous greasy guitar feedbacks, super slow drums, yells and moans. Second side - two tracks from Vir': "Irmos" with background flow of distorted bass guitar and layered slices of political TV samples, and "Spiral Canyon" - desolate industrial ambient landscape with hypnotising rhythm.

Another variant of "FON" ("background") series imprints - potentially endless series of multilayered mixdowns of noise material recorded earlier and based completely on tape noise and equipment artifacts manifested as a result of repeated re-recordings with the use of apparatus of various classes. Tape distortion noise, the very same that was earlier avoided, now it's put on the forefront and plays the leading role in this piece. Ultra-limited edition and DIY fetish-package in a cardboard box. "Komada Trake" means just "pieces of tape" in Serbian, as some of the working cassettes contained Yugoslavian music, erased for noise sake. Solo album of of Noises of Russia frontman Van Gog (1g0g), which he actively performed during his numerous concerts in Russia and Finland in 2006. 50-minute suite forged from heavily distorted orthodox motets, ringing bells, industrial sounds, smooth ambient layers and found samples. 1g0g -- "Cover Me From Any Evil" -- CD-R -- €6
2008 New Orthodox Line, NoL+CD-R01, (ltd. 150)
Apocalyptic breath noise. 1g0g alias Gosha Solnzev – the composer of electronic music. His compositions often created from stylistically disparate musical elements are defined by specific composition of music space and by density of sound stream. The voices of turning machines, church singing or piping, drops of rain knocking against the metal roof, dog's barking, tree's whisper, howl of the wind, organ accords and any other sounds are changing in his hands enormously and serve as real-time source material for creating of giant acoustical constructions of very fanciful forms. Ab Intra -- "Aura Imaginalis" -- CD -- €10
2009 Zoharum, ZOHAR 006-2
Ab Intra is the Latin phrase for "on the inside". The term is quite appropriately connected with the project's music. The man behind it, Radoslaw Kaminski, claims that he seeks connection with his inner side by exploring the musical territories. Ab Intra is an illustration of the pictures that are created in the mind of the author. However, the form used enables the listeners to interpret the sounds in their own way. For fans of Inade, Raison d'Etre / Necrophorus, Herbst9, First Law, Endvra. [press-release]

Ab Intra -- "Supremus" -- CD -- €10
2012 Zoharum, ZOHAR 026-2
After 4 years since the last release, AB INTRA returns with a new album. "Supremus" is almost an hour of music placed in the widely-understood dark ambient genre. The album reflects a much more mature image of the artist who consciously creates a world of his own sound and vision. The idea behind the album is the trial of creating an inner feeling, or impression, which is superior to others (Supremus comes from Latin and it means the highest, definite, dominant) which is in fact the effect of tuning one's mind and stepping outside the conditioned structures. It is a trial of placing consciousness in the sphere of pure sensations where the word becomes dominated by the sound, surrounded by the feeling, and the symbol and vision become the carrier of new meanings. Allerseelen -- "Hallstatt" -- CD -- €10
2007 Aorta, AORCD12
The Allerseelen CD Hallstatt contains thirteen brand-new apocalyptic and passionate songs about love and death. This release - musically situated somewhere in a terra incognita between folklore, krautrock, metal and industrial music - is inspired by the beautiful Upper Austrian village Hallstatt which belongs to the world cultural heritage due to its amazing tomb findings of the Hallstatt culture and the unique ossuary with the painted skulls. The songs have lyrics and vocals by Gerhard Petak and R.N. Taylor from Changes. [label info]
Allerseelen / Sangre Cavallum -- "Barco do Vinho" -- CD -- €10
2006 Ahnstern, Ahnstern 21
Barco do Vinho is the Portuguese word for Wine Boat - the boats that in the past brought the barrels of wine from the vineyards in Callaecia (Northern Portugal) on the river Douro to the town of Porto. The CD features four exclusive songs by the Northern-Portuguese group Sangre Cavallum and four exclusive songs by the Austrian group Allerseelen - ancient and traditional but at the same time brand-new avant-garde music, somewhere between apocalyptic folklore and psychedelic rock. Poetical songs about wine taken down rivers with crews of strong men, floating down throats with crews of sparkling spirits. Inspired by the vineyards that welcome the sun bringing character to grapes. Then a silent darkness, a timeless life inside oak barrels turn wine into flavoured blood for a toast between men and nature. [label info]

Arkona -- "Acid Landscapes" -- CD -- €10
2011 Zoharum, ZOHAR IYHHH 003, (ltd. 444)
'Acid Landscapes' released by Zoharum is the first regular publication of the tracks from the series of the same title. It includes 4 privately released albums with songs recorded between 2002 and 2009. This album collects the most atmospheric pieces from this series. 'Acid Landscapes' is a psychedelic journey through the city at night. The music on this album simply refuses to be pigeonholed. A careful listener will find ambient textures, dub or illbient rhythmic structures, post-industrial atmosphere and even acid twist. Everything bathed in a specific sense of humour. It's more than 70 minutes of music that provokes and teases, yet fascinates... In Karol's own words: ”The idea for Acid Landscapes series came from looking through the old Arkona tracks I had in my archives. There were loads of them, since I have always been recording a lot and most of it was shelved as leftovers of low quality. After a closer look I thought that a significant part of it has artistic merit and coherent feel. That's how the idea for Acid Landscapes was born. Soon I realised that I have enough material for a couple of albums... The process of creation has remained unchanged for years. I use my tiny home studio. I have recently exchanged my archaic PC for a laptop with a 24-bit soundcard. However, only 3 years ago I was using a PC with a 16MB RAM memory. While composing Acid Landscapes I was using the following equipment-samplers: boss sp 202 and sp 303, roland mc 303, roland jupiter 4, farfisa, elektronika em 25, korg m-500, hohner psk 60 + a couple of effects and analogue filters. All external sounds were recorded using a condenser microphone which is built in boss sp 202... Currently I've been working on the next instalment being more of a tekno acid space dub part. Simple and spatial to the max”... This album will be a nice surprise for fans of Scorn, Psychic TV, Coil ('LSD' period), Techno Animal, Material. [press-release]
Asmorod -- "Hysope" -- CD -- €10
2006 Steinklang Industries, SKD 12
A fascinating introspective deep ambient work that distinguished itself from the mass of uniformized dark ambient releases. Niiko (now the only member of Asmorod) used the word Hysope (French word for Hyssop) as a symbolism of spiritual purification. In ancient times, Hyssop was used for the cleansing of lepers (Leprosy may represent sin... but lepers were not necessarily sinful) and used for cleaning sacred places. It is alluded to in the Scriptures: 'Purge me with Hyssop, and I shall be clean' (Purify me from my sins, and i will be clean; wash me, and i will be whiter than snow. Psalms 51:7). Two tracks from that album feature choirs by eLL from Sui Generis Umbra. [press release]

Attrition -- "The Truth In Dark Corners" -- CD -- €10
2011 Other Voices Records, VOX8CD
This is not exactly a new album, but a live recording from 1985 (!) in The Netherlands. This is the kind of ‘dated’ album that will appeal for the biggest fans of the 80s and the collectors of Attrition. We get a spoken introduction (in Dutch) to the concert featuring nine songs (on this album). It seems that Martin Bowes restored some old demo-recording from this gig in The Netherlands. The songs are mainly taken from the “Smiling, At The Hypogonder Club”-album plus some old singles as well (cf. “Shrinkwrap/Pendulum Turns”). The bonus of this album is for sure the previously unreleased songs “In The Attic” and “The Aftermath”. Both songs are rather experimental, totally fitting to the 80s musical style of early Attrition. The opening song from the concert (cf. “The Drop”) is a bit less experimental and revealing a new-wave touch. The quality of the recording (sound) is quite honest while the songs are showing early tracks like “Pendullum Turns” or yet “Hallucinator” in a different (live) version. This album is mainly recommended for the heaviest fans of the band! Notice that the pictures of the concert (on the front- and back cover) were taken by Justin Mitchell from Cold Spring Records. Back in time he was a big fan of Attrition and finally become a friend of Martin Bowes. This album is pure nostalgia. [Side-Line Magazine]
Bastards Of Love -- "Summer Destination" -- CD EP -- €7
2006 Deja Vu Music, Dejavu 001
With the "Summer Destination" EP the electro-wave project Bastards Of Love finally makes their debut on CD. After several vinyl releases to his credit Tobi Margaux arrives with brand new songs in advance of the forthcoming album "Decadance Royale". "Summer Destination" holds 7 tracks of edgy electronic pop that spans a whole spectrum from harsher beats to emotional upbeat dance tracks. As if that wasn't exciting enough, the EP also features guest vocals by the renowned PSYCHE singer Darrin Huss as well as BPITCH CONTROL recording artist Nora Below. Here are some serious artist collaborations to enjoy combining innovative club beats and dramatic vocals that refer to classic synthesizer Pop of the early 80's while remaining current with the vibe of now. The combination of Bastards Of Love and Psyche on the remake of SOFT CELL's dark classic "Martin" is pure maniacal majesty! Finally after the vinyl output on We Rock Like Crazy and Electronic Corporation, Bastards Of Love has begun blasting their analogue masterpieces direct to digital, and with this EP and following album are certain to appeal to new fans around the world. This is REBEL-ELECTROPOP! [press-release]

Defile Des Ames -- "Lust'n'Stone" -- CD -- €10
2008 Ahnstern, Ahnstern32
The swirling sense of lust meets the hardness of stone. The music of Defile Des Ames is a blend of contrary elements: Violence & lyricism, atmosphere & rage, murder, purity, winds & mushrooms… Their traditional and classical instruments are accompanied by powerful percussions and the participation of the great MATT HOWDEN (SIEBEN) gives a uncompareable accent to the album. "Lust 'n' Stone" is a brilliant, dark Avant-Garde Folk album and after many years of live appearances and independent releases, here is finally the debut album of the Mediterranean Folk-gods Defile Des Ames. Different State -- "Through The Falling Eyelid" -- CD -- €10
2010 Zoharum, ZOHAR 009-2
THROUGH THE FALLING EYELID is the newest full length of the Polish combo which now is composed by Marek Xavier Marchoff (tools, alchembient structures), Laura Marchoff (angelic voice), Jarek Szczyglak (guitar) and Keith Rudolf. Just like their tracks on "Spazmatic[k] Spell", the ten you find on this one present a wide array of atmospheres and sounds that span from the industrial ambient electronic atmospheres of the opening "Isolate: stone cold heart", to the retro electro industrial sounds of the closing "Manifest: through the falling eyelid", passing through the cinematic samples orchestration of "Project: verses without words" or the i.d.m./industrial experimentation of "Challenge: formal experimentation", the jazz/industrial improvisations of following "Damage: bleed from their souls" or the slow dub electronic industrial atmospheres of ""Signal: I'm out". Here and there you'll find light guitar solos or vocals that shyly contrast the paranoid atmosphere created. An album that needs time to be fully appreciated because sometimes it sounds fragmented but if you are in the mood for industrial experimental sounds, give it a try. [Chain D.L.K.]
Diona & Shebuzzz -- "Time and Space" -- CD-R -- €8
2010 Still*Sleep, CDR15
A collaboration work between Russian one-girl-project Diona and Moldovian one-man-project Shebuzzz released by Still*Sleep, the label run by Exit In Grey / Five Elements Music / Sister Loolomie mastermind Sergey [S]. Slowly evolving deep spatial ambient with mysterious female voices and unconventional sparse rhythm.
Exit In Grey -- "Raktasonic" -- CD-R -- €8
2009 Daphnia Records, ph09
This album contains early recordings from 2004, made only by [S], one half of the duo. Minimal guitar drone ambient with resonating harmonies.
Fanum & Vazhes -- "IR" -- CD-R -- €8
2010 Still*Sleep, CDR14
Thirty minutes of steady dense and tight (like molten bitumen or solidifying lava) "trademark" drone from Fanum, filled with hardly imperceptible movements of keys, mournful singing of duduk, bird voices and rustle of wind in the leaves, boiling of huge amount of water in which the listeners dives closer to the middle of the track, and voices recorded probably by Sergey Gabbasov (Vazhes) during his ethnographic trips to abandoned villages. I can call for help the words "natural ambient", and it will be quite relevant and characterizing the hidden events happening in the depth of the sonic mass and illustrating such processes as slow growth of grain, deliberate movements of shadows, dissolving items and substances in the water and something like this, invisible from the first glance and subject to the eternal cycles of the outside world. First Human Ferro -- "Homo Shargey" -- CD -- €10
2011 New Nihilism, NN VII / Requiem Records, RP 33/2011 / Triangle, TR 046, (ltd. 500)
Alexander Shargey (also known as Yuriy Kondratyuk) is a representative of passionate enthusiastic inventors who put their lives at stake to accomplish the mission for the future good of the whole mankind. Shargey belongs to a cohort of scientists who were the first to foresee the space conquering. They were great yet mocked-at dreamers and had to fight against all odds twice as hard. Shargey is a "recognized" space theoretic of unique unconventional genius. The name of a self-made engineer since decades has become well up to par with famous scientists like Tsiolkovskiy, Tsander, Korolyov... Ukrainian First Human Ferro project led by Olegh Kolyada pays a long overdue tribute to its compatriot composing a well-crafted vintage dark ambient album with both poignant and mesmerizing layers of sidereal voyage... Homo Shargey was pre-mastered by Italian ambient magician Vestigial. The packaging consists of a luxurious A5-sized digipak with silver finish and gloss varmish, conceptually designed by Marcin Lojek at Ibsen Design. [press-release]

Five Elements Music -- "Sylphstream" -- CD-R -- €8
2008 Still*Sleep, SS16
First half an hour long track sounds a lot like another project of [S] - Ion And Sophus - very quiet atmospheric tunes accompanied by lo-fi field recordings. Second track starts to condense the sound and brings the feeling of being in a primeval night forest not in the best time... the campfire is playing tricks, the swamps are droning, the wood spirits are wandering around... The last third track continues this feeling drawing in the very inside of fire - here dominate the sounds of flames and charcoal crackles, little by little dissolving in their own echoes...
Forthcoming Fire -- "Set The World On Fire" -- CD -- €10
2010 Other Voices Records, VOX5CD, (ltd. 500)
When the Nineties where too fresh to know what would happen to them, Forthcoming Fire made their step on the musical stage to enlighten their scene with some of the finest Gothic Rock and Dark Wave known to this date... This album CD 'Set The World On Fire - Mixes, Hits and Last Temptations' gives the fans of Forthcoming Fire the full spectrum of what the band was known for - with a better sound, new mixes and new versions plus the two new songs 'Set The World On Fire' and 'Sonic Horse Ride' that have been performed and recorded by the band's founding members. Epic songs like 'Der Unbesiegte Sonnengott', 'Feuer' or 'My Way Back Home' have been newly mixed and remastered and the tracks 'Summergold', 'Erde, Feuer, Wind und Wasser' and 'Sun Child' are featured as brand new versions with guest vocalists... Whatever Forthcoming Fire or its members will release in the future, 'Set The World On Fire' is their testament and a love letter to a gone by era, when Gothic Rock was more transparent in sound, focussed on its melodic heritage from the eighties and also closer to the heart. Funerary Call -- "Fragments From The Aethyr" -- CD -- €10
2012 Crucial Blast, CBR100
The grand master of black ambience returns with this new missive from beyond the chthonic depths. Featuring three extended descents into jet-black drift, funereal chamber music, monstrous metallic noise, booming ritualistic percussion, slit-throat recitations of formless horror, and further abyssal abominations... Fragments From The Aethyr presents a triptych of long, sprawling pieces that descend through dark layers of cinematic sonic horror. The music shifts between violin-led passages of pitch-black, dissonant chamber music backed by booming kettledrums and traces of modern music composition and the rotting exhalations of the dead, to blasts of crushing shapeless doom where huge metallic chords thunder in the deep, sending tremors of doom-laden dronemetal rumbling through the strata of Funerary Call's demonic industrial nightmares. The sound of Fragments sometimes resembles a Bela Bartok piece drifting through a fog of black-mass ambience and the murmerings of the long dead, the sound imbued with a deep ominous feel but also glowing with a mysterious dark beauty as it builds to a crescendo of black majestic power, as on the nearly twenty minute centrepiece of the album "Fragments"... There are noisy elements that appear here that threaten to push the music into ear-destroying industrial cacophony at times, but even when the sound is at it's most chaotic, it's held together by the searing melodies of the stringed instruments, tethering the plumes of black industrial noise to the graveyard ambience that soaks deep into the surface of the album... Absolute lightlessness from this seminal artist, highly recommended to fans of Gnaw Their Tongues, Megaptera, Nordvargr, TenHornedBeast, MZ.412 and Aghast. Released in a matte-finish digipack from Crucial Blast. [press-release]

Funerary Call -- "Nightside Emanations" -- CD -- €10
2012 Malignant Records, TUMORCD55
First created in 1994, Funerary Call has established itself as one of the premier purveyors of archaic black atmospheres. With Nightside Emanations, Funerary Call presents his most organic and purely ritual experiences... 8 tracks that spiral into darkness, led by the ceremonial fire rite of the opening track, then descending into even blacker, more ominous realms as the CD progresses. Extended pieces of opaque ambience are augmented by slow, foreboding, tribal percussion and sedated vocal incantations, full of ancient mysticism and creeping miasma. Material used in the recording process ranged from found objects such as rocks, scrap metal, antlers and bones, to an assortment of ritual implements; chimes, bells, gongs, rattles and kangling. The result is unequivocally one of the darkest releases you'll find under the Malignant banner and one of the more focused and complete recordings from Funerary Call. In 4 panel DVD digipak with stunning artwork by renowned Russian artist Denis Forkas. [press-release]

Hall Of Mirrors -- "Altered Nights" -- 2 CD -- €14
2012 Malignant Records, TUMORCD54
3rd CD from the acclaimed dark ambient collaboration between Andrea Marutti (Amon, Never Known, among others) and Giuseppe Verticchio (Nimh). Spread out over two CDs and totaling over 100 minutes, there’s a lot to absorb here; organic, textural ambience that’s murky and abstract, uncurling like tendrils of smoke before coalescing into a simulacrum of shadowy figures, to turbulent, more immersive post industrial sounds that prowl the depths of subterranean caverns and forgotten, still radioactive ruins. At its core, this is dark ambient, but with its roughly edged, mildly corrosive machine edges and cascading factory whir, Hall of Mirrors moves into a much more active and cerebral sonic realm. Features contributions from Vestigial, New Risen Throne, and Pietro Riparbelli/ K11, among others. 2 discs in 6 panel eco-wallet, with 4 tracks on one disc, and one 45 minute track on the second. A must for fans of Troum, Terra Sancta, early Zoviet France, and of course all related Andrea Marutti projects. [press-release]

Haus Arafna -- "New York Rhapsody" -- CD -- €15
2011 Galakthorrö, Galakthorrö 028
This is no typical Haus Arafna album. It has already celebrated its premiere in September 2009 as part of the New York Fashion Week. Haus Arafna had accepted the offer to create the soundtrack for a show featuring the fashion designer Katie Gallagher. Somewhat of an unusual venture into a new environment, and in front of a new audience, this was obviously an exciting challenge for creative artistes, and for “Industrialists”, considering the extreme style of expression, a very pleasurable experience. The emphasis laid on the various elements on this album is different to that of the earlier releases. That is why Haus Arafna has preferred to delay the issue of “New York Rhapsody” until after the release of the “official” album “You”. Angst-Synthesizer, raw electricity, metal percussion, artfully reduced electronic textures and unusual vocal performances combine into a “sound from the Abyss” with deep ritual undertones. No sign of “Screams’n’Shouts” here. Instead Haus Arafna has created Angst-Pop hits and Industrial Monsters with an extra dose of darkness, almost as if the March into Destruction has to be sweetened somewhat. Well-dressed, of course... CD in jewel case with 12 page booklet incl. all lyrics. [press-release]

Horologium -- "A Handful of Dust and Ashes" -- CD -- €10
2010 Zoharum, ZOHAR 013-2
„A Handful of Dust and Ashes” is a collection of tracks recorded during various occasions, but united here by a peculiar sediment of dust and rust; it’s a journey in time to strictly limited “A Handful of Dust”, published by Cynfeirdd, and to “Opium”, amounts of which are long sold out and yearned for by those in search of lost time. The (re)collection is crowned by three tracks performed live in Barcelona and Bologna in 2008 and 2009. The artwork by Fab and Sophie embody fin de siecle that has never been that convincing and tangible. Packaged in 3-panel digipack in new design. [press-release]

2011 Still*Sleep, CDR17
Two mysteries from the Russian musician Vitaly Maklakov (Light Collapse, Obozdur, and lots of other projects) from the Urals. Quite cryptic swamp-cosmic drone framed into industrial field recordings. Despite being minimalistic, this is a dense and saturated work with a strong atmosphere.
L'Effet C'est Moi -- "Tomber En Heros" -- CD -- €14
2007 War Office Propaganda / Rage In Eden, WOP39
Adopting a quote from Friedrich Nietzche as name, this new interesting music entity rises from Recanati, Italy, same hometown of Der Feuerkreiner, with whom it seems to share a passion for epic, neoclassical and martial compositions. L'Effet C'Est Moi ("the result is me") refers, in particular, to a concept with which the famous German philosopher suggested an identification between the ruling class and the results achieved by the community. The idea of power and domination dwells among the two parts in which the CD is subdivided, the first coping with the splendour of the Roman Empire at its zenith, the second with the dark sides of its might, that have survived through the ages and formed the totalitarian regimes of the 20th Century. A magnificent world of conquests, armies, battles, emperors and immortality, through excellent orchestral keyboards, epic piano themes and hammering martial percussions. 12 tracks, approx. 44 minutes running time, CD in digipack. [press-release]
Lingua Fungi -- "Tlapallan Pantonal" -- CD -- €14
2007 War Office Propaganda / Rage In Eden, WOP32
Tlapallan Pantonal is a personal interpretation of Central American mythology. This album is inspired particulary by the myth of Quetzalcoatl - one of the most important and greatest gods of Mesoamerican Indians. More than utilizing the sound of native american music tradition, this record is made entirely around the mood that the Great stories personally evoked. Sounds vary from purely abstract ambient to acoustic folk passages. Yet another very interesting record of Lingua Fungi. [press-release]
Menche, Daniel -- "Wings on Fire" -- CD -- €10
2006 Tantric Harmonies, TANTRA X33, (ltd. 555)

This is Daniel Menche's "Wings on Fire" and this noise inferno soars with volume and intensity that makes it the unheard soundtrack for the flight of Icarus - that is, if his wings did not melt and he did actually fly to the sun. This is Daniel Menche at his most ferocious sonic exploration. Call it extreme ambient or gorgeous noise, Wings on Fire is a must-have release to incinerate the speakers and melt the listener to a beautiful submission of sonic power. [label info]
Moon Far Away -- "Minnesang" -- CD -- €10
2010 Ahnstern, Ahnstern 45
Brand new album from cult Russian Neofolk act Moon Far Away! "Minnesang" is an album of 21st century ritual music encased in a unique fusion of the most diverse and zeitgeist-capturing musical styles, from neofolk, dark folk and post punk to practically future pop. The theme of the album, the deep-rooted feminine archetypes in contemporary art, is embodied in the title, which identifies a genre of medieval knight lyrics. At the same time, most of the original Russian lyrics on the album are drenched with the trademark Pomor flavours, emphasising the pride that the band has always taken in its cultural roots that extend deep into the epic traditions of the Russian North. "Minnesang" is a new milestone achieved by a cult group who already gave contemporary art scene a number of discoveries and revelations. This Ahnstern version has partly different artwork to the Russian edition and the last song is completely different to the Russian version. 61 minutes of music in a digipak. [Cold Spring]

2007 tUMULt, TM373
November Novelet -- "Magic" -- CD -- €15
2007 Galakthorrö 019
This magically-charged jewel of electronic music consists of twelve new songs. The analogue foundation combines with electric vibraphone and 8-bit surrealism transformed into sound. Melancholic synthesiser melodies and the ethereal voice of Mrs. Arafna melt into a fragile beauty with emotional depth. Unpretentious and lost, a gripping experience. In spite of all this exploration of the depths, there is also the opportunity to roll up the carpet. Mr. and Mrs. Arafna have conjured up a few dance hits, which because of their minimalism and cultured morbid charm, should kick off the party mood for the creatures of the night. These contrast well with the slow pieces – tinged with a breath of experimentation, resulting in a many-facetted, and at the same time very balanced, Angst Pop album. The long time in waiting for the release of this new record will soon be forgotten in sheer listening pleasure. CD in de luxe matt finish gatefold digipac plus 16-page booklet incl. all lyrics. Reformed Faction -- "The War Against..." -- CD -- €15
2007 Soleilmoon Recordings, SOL 153 CD, (ltd. 400)
Reformed Faction is a new band featuring Robin Storey and Mark Spybey. “The War Against...” is their second CD, following “Vota” (Klanggalerie, 2006). This new album was cultivated from hours of improvisations made whilst watching Werner Herzog movies and drinking red wine. Spybey would record Storey and then manipulate the sounds, combining rough mixes of the pieces with sounds of his own. Although the most of the music was recorded over the course of a weekend, it took several months to assemble the album. Themes from the recording sessions were played in live concerts and then reworked for the final version of the album. “The War Against” is presented in a lavishly produced cardboard minibox with pictures featuring postcards of artwork by the band. ROME -- "Hell Money" -- CD -- €17
2012 Trisol, TRI 458 CD
„Hell Money“ is different. You’ve probably known ROME as an entity creating an invigorating meta-political, para-religious universe, functioning according to its own code and incorporating all kinds of elements from history to philosophy and musical expressions into one catchy collection of songs within an industrial-ish, brainy collage. „Hell Money“ is different. You’ve most likely heard Jerome’s voice as coming from the depths of pan-European wisdom, toying with poetic elements from expressionism to post-modernism, with each word of poetry sucking you way more into a sweet world of oblivion, a soothing chanson crooner indebted to the traditions American and European folk. „Hell Money“ is different. You’ve come to love ROME’s concept collages, shedding new light on the realities of the world and its history, whilst giving a voice to the downtrodden. „Hell Money“ is –yet again– different. „Hell Money“ is an emotional tour-de-force through the twisted inner workings of a tormented individual. A journey into a heart of sadness, where greed, addiction and self-immolation have taken their toll on sanity. The songs remain fragmentary and crude. The voice on this album is not the voice of reason, it is an individual unashamed, yet deeply tormented by the demons that have come to haunt it. The music is built primarily by an anger-driven acoustic guitar and a voice bereft of poetic hipness. No martial drums, no retro-sampling, but drums and sampling nonetheless. „Hell Money“ is sparse, crude, intimate, sick... and ultimately honest. [press-release]

2007 War Office Propaganda / Rage In Eden, WOP44
Despartica is a collection of impressions, situations and moments in life. The particular parallel between lyrics based on old poetry, and all this what happens nowadays, creates often the atmosphere of bitter reflection and irony. Desires, beliefs, dreams, emotions, experiences, beauty of life and sight of inevitable death in 19th and 20th Century poems "framed" in varied music, from strong industrial rhythms to romantic ballads with melancholic recitations and singing. Yet another different chapter in Rukkanor's musical book. First part of double CDs set - "Despartica - Face One" is now available. 10 songs, 45 minutes, CD in digipack. [press-release]

Sangre Cavallum -- "Veleno De Teixo" -- CD -- €10
2007 Ahnstern, Ahnstern28
The northern Portuguese Sangre Cavallum return with a new and outstanding folk album. It is titled “Veleno de Teixo” meaning Yew Poison and it is a collection of tributes to women and to the cult of mother-goddess in pre-Christian era. "Veleno de Teixo" contains a brand-new set of 16 powerful songs between pagan folk and power-psych atmospheres. Inspired by the music and ethnography of their homeland Callaecia/northern Portugal. It is laboriously produced, capturing the revolutionary minds of these musicians. Among many traditional instruments they play the hurdy-gurdy, bagpipes, flutes, folkloric guitars, war-drums and many times these acoustic instruments are transformed with heavy distortions and meet the psychedelic bass and vintage guitars. It also features the new singer Emanuel Melo da Cunha on a fine debut. Stahlwerk 9 -- "Revolution of the Antichrist" -- CD -- €10
2007 Steinklang Industries, SK 43, (ltd. 666)
Stahlwerk 9's new Dark/Death Ambient album R.O.T.A. is more quiet and ritual than his recent works. R.O.T.A. can be compared to his earlier albums "Oradour" and "1905", but a lot more sacral. Deep, sumbliminal drummings, heavy organs and bells and ominously dronning soundscapes guide you to your private Aramgeddon. A blackest soundtrack for the end of the world... The artwork consists of a folder in 7"-size, holding 10 large inlays on heavy cardbord. All paintings on the folder and the inlays were drawn by the Russian painter Alexander Nemkovsky (http://nemkovsky.info), who already worked with Peter Anderson (Raison d'Etre). "With the approach of the Antichrist's authority comes the moment for mankind, of conscious man-godkind and satan-godkind, which have the task to abolish the authority of God and to give the maximum global power to man and devil." (Lev Tikhomirov, "Religious-philosophical Bases of a History"). [press release]

Stanislavsky, K. -- "End Of All Things" -- CD -- €10
2010 Zoharum, ZOHAR IYHHH 001, (ltd. 444)
Debut material of polish composer Krzysztof Stanislawski - the artist who says that he’s inspired by movie music. There’s no doubt that in his works we can hear the echo of: Clouser, Zimmer or Goldenthal. All orchestral sounds are mixed with industrial bits and grates which gives new quality. „End of All Things” could be it the same line with soundtracks of „Pi”, „Saw” or „Event Horizon” and there’s no exaggeration in it. Imagination of this musician and his own insight in illustrative music leads listener to new, different dimension of thriller. In his works you will find no exaggerated pathos and boredom. This album is full of emotions, passion, action, tempo changes, surprising atmosphere changes. We recommend this material to those who like classical soundtracks but also to everyone who like industrial music. [label info]

Sturmpercht -- "Schattenlieder" -- CD -- €10
2009 Percht, Percht12
Three years have passed since Sturmpercht released their cult-album "Geister im Waldgebirg". Now the masters of ALPINE FOLK are back with their new album "Schattenlieder - eine kleine Nachtmusik fuer Waldteufel und Berggeister". The album features 20 diverse and unique songs full of alpine mystic, heathen legends and tales about strange fairies and pagan rites. "Schattenlieder" entrains you into deep forests, arcane mountains and dark chasms and guides you to hidden places in the depth of the central European forests, where hunters meet strange creatures from dusk til dawn. The atmosphere of the album varies between gnarled songs about creepy fairies, catchy folk hymns and dark songs about the hard life in high alpine regoins. The lyrics deal with alpine myths, forest tales and hunter sagas. "Schattenlieder" is the perfect "soundtrack" for misty autumn evenings as well as for dark winter nights. The album features a large variety of instruments and sounds: obscure, strange, folky, psychedelic, but always original and weird, in Sturmpercht's very unique way. "Schattenlieder" is a completely unpredictable album - each track is a "standalone", but contributes to the overall ambience of this alpine folk masterpiece and in the end the album creates a round, whole atmosphere. With almost 80 minutes of scary/dreamy folk songs, the album definitely sets a new benchmark within the Alpine Folk genre... [press-release]

Svarrogh -- "Balkan Renaissance" -- CD -- €10
2007 Ahnstern, Ahnstern24, (ltd. 500)
The Bulgarian Black Folklore ensemble Svarrogh of Dimo Dimov has recorded another masterpiece of Ritual Folk music. "Balkan Renaissance" is already the 4th Svarrogh album under the banner of the God of the Sun. This mystic sound-journey drags you along to the ancient heart of the Balkan mountains, its caves, rivers, villages and people with their deep mythological roots. Svarrogh's sound is absolutely unique, not only because of the beautiful mandoline-playing and the bagpipes, mixed with droning synths, which envocate the return of the Sun. Svarrogh creates a musical look through a grey window to discover the dark past of Bulgaria's 19th century and its Renaissance, after years of Osman opression. On "Balkan Renaissance" you can listen to original passages of famous Bulgarian poets and artists like Dora Gabe, Elisaveta Bagryan, Elin Pelin, Dimitar Talev or the amazing poems of Ivan Vazov. On this album, Dimo Dimov also pays a tribute to the genious music of Allerseelen with the song "Kamerad". And as a special feature, the CD will also contain a so called Martenitsi. Martenitsa is a Bulgarian heathen/pagan tradition related to March 1, which has its origin in the establishment of the Bulgarian state in 681 AD. Mart is the Bulgarian word for "March". According to Bulgarian folklore, the month March marks the beginning of springtime. Therefore, the first day of March is a traditional holiday associated with sending off the winter and welcoming the spring. Key-figures in these ancient traditional rites are the Kukeri, the demons who banish winter and invite spring and fertility. The Kukeri are the Balkan counterpart to the Austrian and south Bavarian Perchten. This album is full of traditional-, pagan- and ritual Folk music, Neo-Classical songs, Martial drummings and it has even some Industrial moments. [press release]

Tarab -- "Shards Of Splinters - Fragments Of Scratches / Killustiku Killud - Kriimude Killud" -- CD -- €10
2012 Semperflorens, sf09, (ltd. 500)
"The three tracks on this CD have been arranged from sounds collected while on residency at MoKS in the village of Mooste, Southern Estonia in November 2008. This is not so much a documention of Mooste and its surrounds, but more the by-product of my interaction with, and response to, what I found there. I played with and within what I came across and made no attempt at a distanced objectivity. I can lay no claim to any great or unique insight into the life of the village. As an outsider passing through I fear that would be a little hubristic. Instead, I poked around in empty buildings; crawled around in the debris; sat in cold fields and under bridges; listened to frozen leaves fall on the frozen ground and overheard conversations about what I have no idea. Somehow trying to let it all soak in. This part of the world has a past that is still physically visible and present. Like everywhere, if you pay attention and/or search hard enough?? Especially as winter set in it had a definite weightiness, life has been and can still be hard. But it is a special place. There is a darkness, but also a very particular calmness and beauty. I hope both these are evident in this piece. I met people during my stay who all had their various affects on the outcome of this work. Whether through helping me to explore - creating sound together and the many conversations - or by sharing the various domestic necessities. To them I give much thanks." [Eamon Sprod]

Werkraum -- "Early Love Music" -- CD -- €10
2008 Ahnstern, Ahnstern23
14 progressive & traditional, psychedelic & medieval folk songs and chants of Early Love. 14 dreamy memories of the merry blue days from Early Times. Together with friends of the groups CHANGES, LADY MORPHIA and STURMPERCHT. "Early Love Music" is not just a Folk album. "Early Love Music" is a quantum leap for the new Folk generation of the third millennium and an enhanced assortment of early and new Folk-styles. Progressive- and Psychedelic Folksongs mix up and alternate with British and German traditionals in the vein of early Donovan (HMS), Spirogyra, Shirley Collins, Mellow Candle, Ougenweide,... just to name a few. Some songs even have a songwriter-like character, as if they were played somewhen in the mid 60ies in a dark Britanny forest by a suicidal Jackson C.Frank or Shawn Phillips. The complex arrangements and large variety of instruments even remind to The Incredible String Band and some early Acid-Folk bands. As a dot on the i, "Early Love Music" brings 2 coverversions of Donovan's ingenious fairytale "Jabberwocky" and Steeleye Span's traditional-hit "The Blacksmith". With "Song for Erik" Nicholas and Axel have created the sadest song ever sung, filling every father's eyes with a lake of tears. "Early Love Music" comes in a highest-quality 6-side-digipack with 16-page lyric-booklet. [label info]

Zinc Room -- "In Wooden Room" -- CD -- €10
2012 Evil Dead Productions, EDP 009
Fifth album of the Siberian project Zinc Room shows further development from the realm of deadening distorted industrial noise to the depths of dark ambient and death industrial, continuing the line started on its previous work "Shifting Soil". The author utilizes wider pallette of acoustic elements: voice, mouth harp and sounds of soil, branches, stones and glass, which brings more ritual atmosphere to the album, still sometimes he plunges everything into the electrolysis bath with already known trademark dense cocktail of metal percussion and roaring bass guitar. The album features several special guests: Vitaly Maklakov (Kromeshna, Obozdur, Light Collapse, etc.), Kein (Carved Image Of Emptiness, Scratching Soil, Prognostic Zero) and Isawald (Transistorwald, Tmavy Kruh, Esche).
