Barbarossa Umtrunk feat. Escuadron De La Muerte -- "Bautismo De Fuego - Le Dernier Bataillon" -- CD-R -- €9
2013 Ufa Muzak, UFA60, (ltd. 120)
Apocalyptic Heavy electronics / Military ritual. You enter into the territory of thin ice, this is very dangerous, bu there's no other way. Under the fragile surface flow the blood red myths of recent wars. This is the road of memory and oblivion, one wrong move - and everything's covered with crackles, cold cruel abyss breaks its veil and grins in devourment into the worlds of outlived horror. The duo of two musicians scattered in different parts of the world, but united in single unlta-cultural reality - loaded like ammunition with echoes of mysteries of armed conflicts, thus entitled as "Baptism of Fire: The Last Battalion". The repertoire of the dark noise is inspired by the secret concepts from nazi UFOs to mystical texts of Miguel Serrano and Mahabharata to the cult of Aztec idols of Quetzalcoatl and Miktlantekutli. During more than one hour of very disturbing and hateful atmosphere consisting of dark noise, sounds of war and cold drones, you will experience discomfort and fear. It is these feelings, messengers of any struggle, are the doors through which otherworldly forces permeate. Their goal, like of any lower elementals, is to use the situation for their own benefit and direct actions to further collapse. Be careful - the Excalibur, the legendary sword, comes back again from the lake, a mysterious hand of its mistress is cut off, the crystal tomb of its owner is broken. 9 tracks, 70 minutes, pro-CDR, A5 digipak. [press-release]

Bizarre Uproar -- "Mass / FF" -- CD -- €10
2013 Filth And Violence, FILTH&VIOLENCE-85 / Industrial Recollections
Mass CDr from 2001 was such a harsh noise bliss Freak Animal decided to re-issue it as 10" vinyl back in 2005. Now several years later, this material still stands pretty much unique in discography of Bizarre Uproar. All his trademarks elements of early days as well as material after 2005 is absent here. Instead you have highly textured, utterly heavy harsh noise wall! This CD re-issue include full uncut original recording (10" had few minutes missing) and as addition, extremely rare "FF" tape from 1999 what is nearly forgotten. It is hardly ever mentioned in any discograpy listings and artists himself had lost his copies. Luckily one copy remained in Industrial Recollections archives, this tape in blood drenched covers. Possibly made less than 20 copies represents perfect companion to "Mass", offering incredibly textured brutal harsh noise assault. In total over 50 minutes of playingtime stands as essential addition to anyone's Bizarre Uproar collection due it's unique approach. [press-release]

Bizarre Uproar -- "Unsafe and Insane" -- CD -- €10
2007/2013 Filth And Violence, FILTH&VIOLENCE-86 / Industrial Recollections
If one should mark few milestones in Finnish noise, this is one of them. Bizarre Uproars return into activity after few years of small activity resulted flood of releases what could be said culminated in debute full length LP issued by Dogma Chase (Japan). Level of Filth & Violence has been target of vast amout of imitators and admired by loyal followers. Sweat, tears, piss, shit, chains whipping rusty metal objects, strangulation, scat smeared faces and black boots stomping life out of scum. Unsafe And Insane is finally released in CD format by Filth & Violence and Industrial Recollections. [press-release]

BloodSoil -- "Domination" -- CD-R -- €9
2013 Ufa Muzak, UFA59, (ltd. 166)
Martial industrial. Grandiose album of a Spanish project, an official document of political and aesthetic position, musical statement of the eternal principles. Images of the past and the future overtaken by war, by eternal opposition in attempts of consolidation of the new truths. What can be considered as a renewal of tradition? The old and irrelevant, being just a form without content, or a revolutionary view opposite to engrained order? Fire from explosion in an orchestra pit licks wooden partitions separating the pit from the stage, damaged instruments make crooked squeaky sounds, the curtain is slowly caught by fire, the audience tries to get outside, but the doors are barricaded and only fists puching the doors add more chaos to the situation. There are VIP guests in the crowd, surrounded by security, but noone can hope for the happy end. Hands with weapons seen in the mass of people, sounds of shots and the enemy is down, no agitation, payment for the few - hundreds of innocents. These are the sounds of a symphony of a take-over. Sounds of triumph, sounds of history and sounds of mourning. New classical song. 7 tracks, 50 minutes, 6 panel cardboard sleeve. [press-release]

Cisfinitum -- "Landschaft" -- CD -- €12
2000/2012 Old Captain, OCCD05, (ltd. 300)
Cisfinitum is a post-industrial project from Moscow, Russia. It was started in the late 1990s by a composer and musician Eugene Voronovsky and has drawn significant attention as one of the most uncommon and distinctive on the experimental scene. The project’s trademark is an emotional sound that trespasses the boundaries of drone ambient and noise, using classical instruments and unconventional sounds, processed with analog and digital technologies. “Cisfinitum” is the sound of eternity and the music is ‘metaphysical ambient’”. ‘Landschaft’ is an epic work of deeply emotional / dramatic drones, which successfully combines electro-acoustic sources with a wide arsenal of Soviet analog effect processors. Originally released by Insofar Vapour Bulk / Grief Recordings labels, this absolute ambient classic is now available as a CD. Authentic recording of the original demo cd-r of 2000. A true artifact to conserve for the generations to come. Edition of 300 copies in 4 panel Digipak. [press-release]

Cisfinitum & First Human Ferro -- "Alchemicals" -- CD -- €12
2012 Old Captain, OCCD06, (ltd. 300)
A new collaborative work by two modern alchemists, Eugene Voronovsky and Olegh Kolyada, is a transmutation of Saturn into Sol with the goal of attaining immortality. A cross-border of avant-garde jazz (featuring Sergei Letov, saxophone player) and dark ambient (Cisfinitum & First Human Ferro) reveals cryptic alchemical symbols, diagrams, and vocalisms (featuring James Thirlwell (of Foetus fame)) that contain multiple layers of meanings, allegories, and references to be laboriously decoded in order to discover true meaning hidden from its creators. A panacea “Alchemicals” is accompanied by a proto-scientific design of Andrey Bondarenko to enliven the content cornucopia. Edition of 300 copies in 4 panel Digipak. [press-release]

Cyanosis -- "Stave" -- CD-R -- €12
1998 self-released
Experimental Old-School Industrial played on metal objects, guitars, etc. A kind of more ascetic version of early Einsturzende Neubauten. Rare self-release from late 90-ies. Jewel case. [YAOP]

Dead Body Love –- "Candles" -- CD-R -- €7
2009 Impulsy Stetoskopu, 018, (ltd. 120)
One long track, playing for more than half an hour is the whole album and that's no surprise because pieces of Dead Body Love are rarely short ones. Album starts with high pitched feedback, surrounded by episodic noises and squeaks. It goes that way for some five minutes when finally drowns in the flaming sea of Dead Body Love sounds. Low frequencies are almost not audible through the whole album and the sound is concentrated on middle and high ones. You can hear a second or two of low rumble and it is lost in the sound. Such distribution of frequencies is one of the reasons why this record is exhausting after several listening sessions, but I'd say that's one of positive aspects of it. What's most important is that Gabriele Giuliani masterfully controls intensive attack of noise for more than 30 minutes. There's not a second that "Candles" would transform into unjustifiable bleeps, chaos of sounds and noises. The slightest change in this album is well placed, well thought over and of vital importance for further development of the track. It's monolithic, solid piece of noise which I silently liken to HNW because of its intensity. Uncompromising sound in this work melts the details and presents totality as the most important thing. Of course this work is neither innovative, nor somewhat exceptional. It is not so, but when I listen to it, the word "classical" spins in my head. Legendary noises during their best years and so on. Harsh noise in all its beauty and power. All that is found in this album. And of course the impression is strengthened by unique packaging of Impulsy Stetoskopu. [terror.lt]

Death In June -- "Nada Plus!" -- 2 CD + DVD -- €35
2011 New European Recordings, BAD VC PLUSCD13, (ltd. 1500)

Dervenn -- "Gwad Roueel" -- CD -- €10
2012 The Eastern Front, Front 031, (ltd. 500)
Dervenn in Breton means «oak», the sacred tree of the ancient Celts. Wood is the matter of our instruments and our breath is the «wind that shakes the Barley»… even if we are living in the era of digital and numeric realities. The soul is still musical and deeply tainted by the landscape of Brittany, by the musicality of it, by the symbolism of it. Arthur, Perceval, Merlin, we still share their quest for truth and beauty when riding our cars… No commercial folklore, no infatuated «world» or «ethnic» music, no archeological mythology nor so-called traditionalism. Just our true modern Breton music. Beauty and breath of the arthurian past speaking a present day, but not vulgar, musical language. «Gwad Roueel» («royal blood») is the first act of the quest, a personal and emotional evocation, using both traditional «celtic» instruments (bag pipe, Breton oboe, transverse flute, Irish whistle and bodhran) and modern ones. Invention and respect of the past are the key words, poetry, melody and strength are the feelings one gets from listening to this musical travel through the lights and darkness of human quest for purity and beauty… [press-release]

2010 L. White Records, LW-060, (ltd. 100)

Fecalove –- "La Nature Devoilee" -- CD-R -- €7
2008 Impulsy Stetoskopu, 008, (ltd. 100)
Torture of feedback, weird rhythms, appearing from nowhere, pseudomelodies, formed from sounds of feedback or noise generator, finally bricks of low frequencies start to fall and you just enjoy a little when sound evolves further and you reach the next stage of the album. Eternal motion. Truth is, there are places in album where chaos disappears and the album start to sound like perfectly realised gem of harsh noise. [terror.lt]

Lethal Dose 50 -- "21st Century Awakening" -- CD -- €10
2006 Nuit Et Brouillard, NB CD 05
LETHAL DOSE 50 is the poison dose injected into the veins of persons sentenced to the death penalty in some states of the United States.… but LD50 is also a Belgian trio which has been existing for years in the fields of electronic musics. After a self-released first tape and a first CD-R, we are proud to offer you the first fullength CD by this talented unit. Using some digital instruments – synths, samplers- as well as some analogue ones –synths, rhythm’n box, effects-… LD50 develops an atmospheric music which is at the same time dark but warm, cosmic and experimental, melodic and deep, meditative but aware, often underlaid by some sampled voices and sound-collages, sometimes intermingled with/ intersected with some hypnotic rhythms. Being fully mastered and definitely original compared to some nowadays releases from the dark-ambient genre, "21st century awakening" will both appeal to the nostalgics of the 70ies and 80ies sonorities -old-school space-electronics from the 70ies and 80ies such as TANGERINE DREAM, NOCTURNAL EMISSIONS-.as well as to the lovers of some nowadays dark ambient acts such as SCHLOSS TEGAL, INADE, HERBST 9 or FIRST LAW… LD 50 is certainly the sole musical project able to set a bridge between these two tendencies, these two sounds, these two periods… Fans of sterilized lap-top generated or of cheap new-age ethno-ambient can go their way. "21st century awakening" will appeal as much to the soul as to the body, to the mind as to the heart. At first listening, this record may seem a little bit strange to you, like being out of phases, but the following listenings will draw you into an endless spiral similar to the one painted on the sleeve. Allow yourself enough of freedom for that... CD re-mastered by Christian RENOU, housed in an original A5 size silk-screened fold-out cover. Paintings by Leyla ERSEN. 64 minutes/10 tracks. [press-release]

Pure old-school industrial & hardcore electronics with lots of metal sounds & percussions and echoed screamings. This is truely the sound of agony… Housed in nicely designed digipack. [press-release]

Mind & Flesh -- "Martyr Generation" -- CD -- €10
2012 Force Majeure, Force 007, (ltd. 500)
"Martyr Generation" is the first CD by the Oslo / Norway based musician Anders B. under the MIND & FLESH moniker. While initial recordings of his first industrial band, KATABOL PROCESS were done in summer 1996, Anders started up to compose alone under the name BABYFLESH around October 1998. Starting from that point, two full-length releases were recorded and produced: "Curiosity killed the Angel", CD-R on Slaughter Prod. in November 2002 and "New wave of Cynicism", CD on Vendlus Records in February 2005. Sometime in 2010, Anders B. decided to change the name into MIND & FLESH as he lost any connection with what could refer to "BABYFLESH" as a name for a musical project. The nine tracks of "Martyr Generation" were recorded between 2005 and 2008. Among them two feature collaborations with other musicians. The music of MIND & FLESH is a mix of dark & heavy analogue electronics and pounding rhythms with processed vocals. His sound can be filled under the Death Industrial genre, without any doubt. Hypnotic and powerful at the same time... "Martyr Generation" comes in a nicely designed three-panel digipack in a limited edition of 500 copies [press-release]

N.Strahl.N –- "Brot Und Lugen" -- CD-R -- €7
2006 Tosom, TOSOM XX-005, (ltd. 150)
This release is the perfect link between the "normal" TOSOMs and the XX-Serie. On his third release, N.Strahl.N puts the focus on his more noisy edge. Monotonous walls of Machinery-Loops, metallic scraping, manipulated radiowaves and heavily processed fieldrecordings. No message, no deeper meaning, no propaganda. Just some pretty pop-muzak for the age of "bread and lies". Comes in glossy cardboard sleeve with insert. [label info]

N.Strahl.N –- "Eingang" -- CD-R -- €7
2006 Tosom, TOSOM 023, (ltd. 150)
This first record by the german project N.Strahl.N features mostly quiet and meditative soundscapes from organic to mechanical. For the most parts based on field-recordings, sounds from nature turn into post-industrial metallic and sweeping landscapes with spare rhytmic accents, which dominance increases track by track. Comes in A5 cardboard cover. [label info]

N.Strahl.N –- "Wahrnehmungshygiene" -- CD-R -- €7
2007 Tosom, TOSOM 030, (ltd. 150)
After the debut "Eingang" and "Brot und Lugen" (that shows the noisy side),"Wahrnehmungshygiene" is the third Tosom release by N.Strahl.N, a fantastic and very busy project from Germany. In the past N.Strahl.N released also some works on different labels (like Apocalyptic Radio or Krakilsk) and some very limited self-releases. All the stuff by N.Strahl.N is very worth to check."Wahrnehmungshygiene" was recorded between February and May 2006, mostly using field recordings. And this time the project also used, for some compositions, acoustic instruments (like flute and melodica). The music is more than normal and usual soundscapes, this are sounds for a head cinema. Listen to N.Strahl.N.s world and enjoy, enjoy, enjoy... Comes in DVD box with 4 inlays. [label info]

Objekt/Urian -- "Tonfragmente II" -- CD -- €10
2001/2004 Zone De Confusion, Z.D.C.01, (ltd. 1000)
First CD on Zone de Confusion, a subdivision of Nuit et Brouillard aiming at reissuing sold-out tapes, CD-R or vinyls previously released in limited editions. Objekt/Urian is a german duo working with selfmade instruments and old electronic material. Their music is a great mixture of dark atmospheric soundscapes and power-electronics with a strong old-school industrial touch at one and the same time original, melodic and powerful... Highly recommended to those who like bands like HAUS ARAFNA. Tonfragmente II includes the 5 tracks originally released on their debut CD-R plus 6 unreleased ones for a total length of 63 minutes. Their universe is cold, but never a depressing one and handled themes such as control and manipulation, information treatment, or some reflections on history - and even on own country history - have the ability to let feelings and thoughts arouse and to get matters reconsidered... The reputation of their live performances - combining music, theatrical elements and installations - went over the frontiers and the band was programmed at the fifth Deadly Actions festival in november 2002. Totally remastered sound from original recordings by Hermetique. Comes in special nice digipack with new artwork and selected varnished parts. Don’t miss it… [press-release]

PBK / C. Reider –- "Discorporate" -- CD-R -- €7
2009 Impulsy Stetoskopu, 017, (ltd. 120)
Over the last ten years PBK had occasionally sent source material to C. Reider for collaboration, however, the collaboration never came together. Suddenly, earlier this year PBK was surprised to find a parcel in the mail from C. Reider with the finished master inside. He played it and found the mixes to be a new kind of 21st century psychedelic drone space music. [label info]

Peenemunde -- "II" -- CD -- €10
2013 Freak Animal Records
I wasn't personally very excited when Peenemunde approached with their first recordings. I gave harsh critics and eventually project decided to completely re-do the material what eventually became their (improved) debut album. Case was entirely different with this second full length. I saw their great live performance and had opportunity to hear some raw out-takes of upcoming second album. Instantly I offered to publish material as proper CD, if rest of material stands equally strong. And it does. No critics of suggestions was needed. On first album P. Perä-Takala (Sick Seed) and P. Dassum (Umpio) basically combined the known elements of their projects as mere "collaboration", but now Peenemünde stands as project of its own identity! Second assault of Peenemünde abandons smashing junk metals and enters the dark laboratory of poisonous experiments with cold electronics! Duo created material live on tape in sessions what to me sounds unlike anyone else does. It has the cold electric feel, without the elements of "techno". It has the fierce junk metals, without fitting into line with other junk metal noisers out there. It is rotten sound from gutters of laboratory, without being unnecessary "lofi" or poor quality. Thematically Peenemünde is based on inventiveness of mankind in the field of warfare and cruelty, concentrating especially on WWII. Essential! [press-release]

Pustota –- "FON-72" -- CD-R + MC + mp3 -- €8
2013 YAOP, YAOP 061, (ltd. 17)
A project of Evgeny Savenko (Lunar Abyss, Hattifnatter, Sadogipnoz, etc). This recording is one of the imprints in the "FON" ("background") series - series of multilayered mixes of previously obtained noise material based exceptionally on tape noise and physical artifacts, manifesting during multiple re-recordings with the use of apparatus of various classes. In fact, PUSTOTA project calls on the aesthetics of historical usage of ausio cassettes, and everyday music fans aspirations of avoiding noise effects on phonograms which created the whole class of noise-reducing systems. So, this series shows exactly that noise in all its glory, extracted from the depths of magnetic spattering, that noise which was fought against during the whole history of using magnetic tape as data storage media. The release set contains same audio repeated on compact disc, both sides of a 90-min audio-cassette and as an mp3 file. Packed in a 8-page photo-booklet of A5 format. [press-release]

Radiostalking -- "Rudimentalnye 8-ki" -- CD-R -- €7
2013 Down Elcovka Records, CD-R DER 008, (ltd. 9)
One of the side-projects of a well-known St.Petersburg based noise activist E.S. mainly known for his project Lunar Abyss Deus Organum. As the name implies, the concept of this project lies in monitoring and fixating of various radio ether flows. Before the releases of this project were only done on tapes. This is the first CD-R release filled with psychedelic sound of technogenically meditative character. The artwork is based on a conceptual primitivism principle with the use of old, naturally yellowed paper. CD-R with printed surface. Discs packed in sleeves made of torn-out pages of the "Charter of the Communist Party of USSR" from 1953 edition. Aside from disc, package contains two calendars with photos of radio-receivers - each copy contains various calendars. The sleeve is wrapped in Soviet drawing paper from early 80ies and is tied up with a twine. All info is handwritten. [press-release]

Ryr -- "Until the End of Times" -- CD-R -- €9
2013 Ufa Muzak, UFA62, (ltd. 130)
Apocalyptic military industrial. Black archangels, twisted in the air in the form of a swastika, how much time do they whirl, but - a single moment - and their skeletons like spikes are put over the ruined city. Vision as a kind of hypnotic dream isn't available for anyone, their eyes will see the complex pictures of destruction. Distraction from life, few steps ahead, inaccessible to mortals, dream unfolds like a flower. Cities, woods and rivers, industrial zones, warehouses and stations - they are, and at the same time they are not - the fire wave from space covers everything to turn it into dust. The newest album of the project opens the spiritual ties that hindered unclear presentiments and suspicions. The inner castigator comes with bright light, so that every gap is opened. Alchemical curses in mirrors, micro frequencies emanating from dolmens, inaudible words of exhumated bones of the kings, vellums with secret maps falling to pieces, coldness of the crypts of the noble families, sounds of atonal music in the desert and ancient dreams of cursed monks exiled from the temples. No sentiments, only strict bridges of stone rhythms and hammered towers of noise breakdowns. Fragments of the said gliding in eternity in the total flow, as last documents of the died world. Dark concentrated atmosphere, not calling to any senses, only silence and awe. 10 tracks, 46 minutes, pro-CDr, 6 panel cardboard sleeve with a postcard. [press-release]

S.O.F.A. -– "Shitloads Of Fuck All" -- 3"CD-R -- €7
2006 L. White Records, LW-037, (ltd. 200)
"Adopt this theory and things might get better; they may not!" The debut release from S.O.F.A. is really their paradoxical manifesto. This cell of musicians arose from the fallout of a string of British punk bands. Disillusioned with the direction that punk was taking, they decided to strip back music to raw noise and expression of anger. Putting aside conventional instruments, and using vacuum cleaners, shouts, theremin, synths and industrial samples; S.O.F.A. delivers. This release kicks ass, if you like the funny Whitehouse style!" Schloss Tegal -- "Oranur III - The Third And Final Report" -- CD -- €10
1997/2012 Cold Spring, CSR174CD
Based on the work of Wilhelm Reich and his encounters with UFOs, this influential album has been remastered and reworked from the original recordings, with new bonus tracks and new remixed versions. Originally released in 1997 on CD by Tegal Records (Ltd x 1000) and LP by Artware Productions, Germany (Ltd x 1000), all of the original subject matter has been taken to a new level with this digital recording from the analogue sources. This is the third and final warning to the sleeping beings of the earth. This album influenced many other electronic artists and has been hailed as one of the first recordings to be labelled “dark ambient”. [label info]

Soilcult -- "s/t" -- CD-R -- €9
2013 RWCDAX AGAIN, CDR002
Soilcult are shamans enthusiasts from Saratov, Southern Russia, started their activity in 1999 collaborating with Dmitriy Tolmatskiy (DMT). As the bands press-release says, "the music of Soilcult is an attempt to find the door in ancestors world, hidden in grey lanes of urban jungle. Project members use archaic sound of various acoustic instruments and modern sound processing units in their performances, inviting listeners to take a walk on shamanic trails where one can hear the voices of the elements, feel the breath of protector spirit behind the back, meet the totemic animals and even face the true Self hitherto drowsing in subconsciousness." The material for this release was recorded live in 2012 in Saratov Ethnographic Museum during the opening of an art exhibition of neo-totemic painters. Three long tracks performed in vein of ritual ambient, resembling early works of such classics as Hybryds, Alio Die, Rapoon, Militia, etc.

Sudden Infant / Grey Wolves / Macronympha -- "Interzone 3" -- CD -- €10
1993/2013 Industrial Recollections
This 1992 collaboration has been issued at least 5 times. Originally by SSS Productions, followed by Open Wound, Industrial Heritage and Mutter Wild. But never before on CD. Not only it's extremely good release what comes to music, but also reminder of somehow more innovative and creative ways of making release. It was possible to combine masterminds of different approaches to create on masterpiece. Versatile Swiss aktionist, brutal American harsh noise unit and bleak lo-fi UK industrial/pe. One track edited by Joke Lanz, 3 others by Rodger Stella, based on the source sounds of eachother. Sound is the absolute best, from master tapes of band, and cover artwork created from original images. It doesn't imitate SSS approach, but the original intention of Macronympha. [press-release]

Sva Battalion -- "Mein Abgrund" -- CD-R -- €7
2013 Ufa Muzak, UFA61, (ltd. 98)
Dark ambient / Noise. Last album of the project, not big in content, but capacious in meaning, a sad harbinger of dark social events. The "visiting card" album for the visions of the future, clearly shown in a graphic illusion on a cover. The subtitle for this piece in five acts can be the sentence from the booklet: "Recurrence of civil war, that's what awaits us". The agony of the society, right-wing reation, guerilla warfare, traditionalism, a century of terror, the state machine, censorship of knowledge, repression, prisons, explosions - these concepts came to author while composing this album. Musically it's restrained and cold and can create the feeling of detachment, but this is just an appearance and a condition of the avantgarde genre. Rumbling storming squall noising out the background events changes into calmness leading the ship of despair upon the waters of Styx. Timelessness and idleness serve as punishment, the spring is stretched to the limit. History repeats itself! 9 tracks, 35 minutes, 6 panel sleeve + a sticker. [press-release]

Vanhala, Jaakko -- "Here Be Lions" -- CD -- €10
2012/2013 Freak Animal Records, FA-CD-073
Even if it feels somehow arrogant to worship something you just released, I can't take credit for making the material. I simply heard "Here Be Lions" material before it was released as tape and even if this was scheduled for magnificent Sprachlos Verlag label, I immediately told this is simply too good to be 100 copies tape what will disappear in current flood of North European noise. It was agreed there must be CD release and I'm proud to say this represents possibly the best harsh noise CD ever released in North Europe. It goes right up there, next to genre defining milestone. It has all the necessary elements. Fierce and brutal sound full of energy. Hands on approach with strong focus on physical object. Utmost care on textures and subtle details. Individual sounds sources, tape manipulations, mixdown and composition. Even if cd includes some material previously heard on tape, it stand strong as proper album. Essential for fanatics of noise with passion and artistic integrity! [press-release]

Venuspuls -- "Herzschlag Des Endzeit—Architekten" -- CD -- €12
2008 Wroth Emitter, W.E. 020
Since 2004 Martin Lang/TODESSTOSS uses as another, independent artistic platform the expressive electronic art project VENUSPULS, for that he deals with nebulous, occult, apocalyptic, dark erotic, extraterrestrial, eerie and other sensitive and subtle matters, setting them to music finally. The songs are not created with cheap samples but with creativity. A musical mixture of dark ambient sounds, powerful and energetic electronic beats and even some neoclassical and industrial elements - always personal-aesthetic - not noisy. The music surely isn’t made for a superficial public, but for the egosphere of any dark prince or princess dwelling in the sky time and time again. [press-release]

Nadja & Troum -- "Dominium Visurgis" -- LP -- €20
2010 Denovali Records, DEN59
This is something you could call a "dreamlike liaison". When the Canadian "avant metal / drone doom"-duo NADJA (who name TROUM as one of their early influences) and the German post-industrial / experimental drone pioneers TROUM (years ago active as MAEROR TRI who are still discovered by many drone-fans these days) combine their exceptional styles, they form something even vaster as usually known from them. These three long collaboration tracks were recorded as a result of a spontaneous improvisation in April 2008 "live in the studio" near the Weser-river in Bremen, Germany, and suck you in with their powerful & emotional drone melancholy that works in many micro-& macrocosmic ways, using electric & acoustic guitars, bass, accordeon, drum-machine & voice. Israeli neo-folk project Agnivolok presents its album «Cherries». The album was planned to be released on a few years ago under the original title «Cherries for the Golden Skull», was re-worked slightly and out now. An impressive musical meltdown that takes traditional music into a new dimension. Passionate folk, rich of eastern and oriental characteristics, skillfully combined with experimental acoustic ambient layers, and a female voice that is haunted by melancholy. [press-release] Psychedelic folk with female vocals and some unusual instruments (two-handed saw, stone chello, ice flute), and some usual too.

Agnivolok & Chaos As Shelter -- "Henbane" -- CD -- €10
2009 The Eastern Front, Front 024, (ltd. 1000)
Agnivolok is the neo-folk and experimental music project of Vera Agnivolok, Igor Krutogolov and Vadim Gusis. Vadim Gusis stands also behind the project Chaos As Shelter, his solo project. So this album seems a very logical collaboration, but could it not just been an Agnivolok album? Well, not quite. Since Agnivolok is very neofolk oriented and Chaos As Shelter makes mostly instrumental industrial soundscapes. Both projects take turns with each track, so we go from experimental neo-folk into experimental soundscapes. This way the album has a very interesting synergy. I very much like the, somewhat distorted, vocals of Vera Agnivolok, although I can’t hear what she really sings about, it has a very nice ambience to it. Neo-folk for me is often a hit or miss, but here it’s a definite hit. Because the neo-folk of Agnivolok has very industrial elements, it really fits with Chaos As Shelter soundscapes, to create one somewhat unique whole. With this album I really feel like walking in some dark industrial world, or some torn apart cities, and then getting some narrative in-between. It has therefore a somewhat cinematic quality, sometimes even theatrical. A very excellent release, even if you are perhaps not really into neo-folk. Though both projects have a significant sound of their own, together it works very well because they complete each others input. The Eastern Front has already delivered some fine releases, and this one they can put up there with some of their best albums! [Fabian, Gothtronic]

Arditi -- "Marching on to Victory" -- CD -- €15
2007 Equilibrium Music, EQM015
The original release of "Marching on to Victory" dates back to 2003, with a small pressing of 1000 copies on the obscure Swedish label Svartvintras. The legacy that one half of the project brought from his work with Puissance was fairly evident, yet the focus on his work as Arditi was not so much beautifuly orchestrated narrations of the apocalypse, but far grimmer depictions of the past centuries world conflicts. Field recordings and blurry speeches were incorporated into Arditi's compositions, adding a rather disturbing tone to the predominant military snare-drums, obscure symphonic arrangements and hypnotic soundscapes. The suffocating combination between martial classical arrangements and somber atmospheres would set Arditi's debut album as one of the bleakest releases on the Militaristic Neo-Classical movement that was starting to flourish at the time. "Marching on to Victory" is now made available again, in a deluxe Digipak release featuring 2 bonus tracks. [press release]

Arditi -- "Standards of Triumph" -- CD -- €15
2006 Equilibrium Music, EQM014
Boasting the unique personality of this Swedish combo, "Standards of Triumph" taps further into the darker tones of Militaristic Neo-Classical ambiance that has become the band's trademark, resulting in their strongest effort so far - ever effective in their use of crushing orchestrations and evocative speeches, Arditi hereby drags the listener around muddy trenches, leaving aside overly pompous festive marches or alcohol fueled merry bunker songs which seem to have become the norm as of late, and casting an hypnotizing veil over the turmoil of warfare-inspired Industrial soundscapes. Arkhaion -- "When Gods Walked The Earth" -- CD-R -- €9
2012 Ufa Muzak, UFA57, (ltd. 150)
Heroic / Mythical sympho neoclassic ambient. Human history is not what is seems for the majority of modern people today. There's no evolutionary and progressive history of development. The primitive modern science can only suppose that it all started about 8000-6000 years B.C. The raven darkness of this delusion is penetrated by other theories which may seem to be completely fantastic, talking about cyclic models of development. 10.000 years before the Common Era humanity was at the peak of cosmic growth and highest development. All myths and heroic eposes, ciphered and allegorical, tell about that times. In those times there was a different race on Earth, now we call them Gods. The great ancestors built gigantic cities, they were developing and lived according to the highest wisdom. This race was certainly of cosmic origin, and they laid the foundation of the whole history on this planet. There were humans like us too, who lived in the same time with the highest creatures, the Gods, and received knowledge from them. First kings described in ancient myths were the offsprings of the Gods - they belonged to the other level and deserved complete worship. Their power allowed them to reach the highest spiritual state, the biggest progress of science of much more absolute character, to build the cities of unseen constructions. The power of human beings came from the Gods who gave them self-consciousness and combined their fate with their own great fate and goal within the Universe. It started 200.000 years ago. Majestic, triumphant and cryptic album of the conceptual project Arkhaion opens up slowly and calmly like movement of a huge body in cosmic space. Everything is undisturbed and grandiose, white light divides in spectral colours and the micro-symbol starts rotating, a mandala containing the new model of the Universe. Ambient and symphonic structures repeat the process of matter efflux from the stars. Immersion in music is like obtaining wings for a short time enough to see the fabulous picture from the bird view. Genetic memory will allow only a few to dive deeper into the visionary space of the Ancient and live some more time there. 8 tracks, 52 minutes, pro-CDR, 8-page booklet with 8 myths. [press-release]

Bleiburg -- "Indivisibiliter Ac Inseparabiliter" -- CD -- €10
2009 The Eastern Front, Front 026, (ltd. 1000)
Following 2008’s Open Wound live CD and DVD releases, the martial industrial project of German-Croatian musician Stefan Rukavina launches a fresh offensive on The Eastern Front with this nostalgic tribute to the glory and pathos of a vanished empire... «Indivisibiliter ac Inseparabiliter»—Latin for ‘indivisibly and inseparably’—was the motto of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Formed in 1867 under the aegis of the Austrian Habsburg dynasty and constituting the most important power bloc in central Europe, the empire was consigned to oblivion by the First World War, a war precipitated by the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, heir to the Habsburg throne. The empire’s rise and fall is vividly evoked in 15 new tracks by Bleiburg, with styles ranging from orchestral grandeur through stirring folk melodies to sample-laden EBM. The album booklet is copiously illustrated with beautiful period artwork, and contains a detailed German-language history of the Rukavina family, in particular the illustrious Croatian general Baron Georg Freiherr von Rukavina, commander of the fortress of Temesvar (Timisoara). Bleiburg -- "Way Of Crosses" -- CD -- €10
2007 The Eastern Front, Front 009, (ltd. 1000)
Though only people themselves create History, they always prefer to re-write it afterwards, being horrified and embarrassed by what they have committed. But sometimes we must make bold to face the truth and to acknowledge the fact that we are guilty of what we made and that we are guilty towards History. And we must carry our own cross and pass our own way and once reach the Golgotha of our own conscience. 14 outstanding compositions of one of most enigmatic artists of German neo folk/industrial scene. 14 songs presented on this album were recorded in various years, composed in various styles and sung in various languages. Just truth stays invariable. "...The concepts of all the releases have a basic principle: history. It is important to read between the lines of global and personal history and not to believe all we read, hear, feel, see or are taught..." - from Cold Spring interview with Bleiburg. Death In June -- "Peaceful Snow / The Maverick Chamber" -- 7" -- €16
2010 Extremocidente, DEO 07061610, (ltd. 880)
Extremocidente proudly announces the imminent release of Death In June's "Peaceful Snow/The Maverick Chamber" 7". The two songs are the first new material to come to light since The Rule Of Thirds. These new tracks offer not only the same radical departure from more complex song arrangements as in the previous album but this time also a departure from the use of acoustic guitar as the instrument chosen to accompany Douglas Pearce's voice is the piano played by Miro Snejdr. Some might be tempted to say this is a new direction for Death In June yet we have to disagree, as for almost 30 years this has been a ship that has maintained it's course against all odds... This edition is limited to 880 numbered copies pressed in pink vinyl and housed on a cover with embossed lettering and debossed foilblock Whiphand logo. The record comes with a lyric sheet/insert and 3 postcards. The first 188 copies are signed by both artists. The Maverick Chamber' will only be available on vinyl on this 7". It will not be included on the vinyl version of the forthcoming new DEATH IN JUNE album entitled 'Peaceful Snow' but it will be on the CD version. [press-release]

Donzel-Gargand, Bernard -- "Still to be a Storyteller" -- CD -- €10
2009 Monochrome Vision, mv29, (ltd. 500)
The 20 years anthology of creative work from the french composer, consisting of only previously unreleased material. Fantastic soundscapes, drawing images without any visual similarities and presenting the best ever sense of acousmatic music... Bernard Donzel-Gargand is the unique musician and composer. He is a celebrity in Annecy but unfortunately less known abroad, especially because he published just one CD of fabulous works on Plate Lunch in 2001. Before discovering electroacoustic music in 1978, he participated in the free jazz movement and improvised music. Since that time, he is the author of acousmatic music, works for animation, dance and interactive contemporary art. In 1981, he founded the Collectif & Cie studio, together with Philippe Blanchard, Alain Basso, Philippe Moenne-Loccoz, and Peter Ernrooth, amongst others. Later on, with Philippe Blanchard he founded Studio Forum and the yearly festival "Le Bruit de la Neige". Bernard was born in 1955 and composing the music since 70s, he knew personally Pierre Schaeffer and received some prizes at GMEB concours in Bourges. He influenced Blanchard a lot, and his music was perfect example for many other young musicians in Annecy. But his musical career was not so active, because Bernard prefers to work alone in his studio rather than promote his music for publicity. But his works can be compared with the best electroacoustic music coming from France, and his name should be mentioned with celebrities like Michel Chion, Xavier Garcia, Bernard Parmegiani, Luc Ferrari and Francois Bayle. His pieces are breathtaking and transcending the sense of time. [press-release]

DOR -- "From the Personal Fear to the Social Agony" -- 3"CD-R -- €7
2010 R.O.N.F. Records, RNF-051
The project from Yaroslavl, Russia, presents totally analogue old school power electronics played on vintage Soviet synths Ritm-2, Polivoks, Yunost-21 with heavy overload, hysterical rorar instead of vocals and cynical culture terroristic lyrics. The project's ideology is total destruction on all senses of this word, perverted suppression of all living. We should say the release of this mini-album opens a new page in the history of Russian PE. Mini-DVD-box, b/w cover and booklet with English translations of the lyrics and a quote from Alber Camus. Perfect. [YAOP]

Fahl -- "The Paths To Emptiness" -- CD -- €10
2010 The Eastern Front, Front 027, (ltd. 1000)
Fahl is much more complicated and interesting than many many albums in "dark ambient" style (if we keep calling a variety of musical creations this way). It tells a story. Vivid, exciting, emotions driven story about "gateways to the occult and hidden forces of the inner self" - thus musician themeselves described the idea. I would just add that this music is about what rests deep inside of human mind and soul and about what we hardly think and talk in daily fusiness. [label info]

2nd monumental album from Kreuzweg Ost for Cold Spring, headed by Michael Gregor (SUMMONING / AMESTIGON). "We see a light through the dim and cloudy shadows of our existence. In the electric field between total faith and desperation, hope and doubt, eternal bliss and delusion, we walk an unsure path to an unknown end. When the clouds open, the light navigates. The loud music of the sky: pounding drums surrounded by trumpets and swirling voices echoing from a distance unknown". Kreuzweg Ost rises again with God on their side. Merzbow -- "Scene / Early Computer Works" -- 2 CD -- €33
2005 Waystyx, WR12, (ltd. 100)
Another recording made by prolific noise monster Masami Akita, which was released in two editions. The first one is single album "Scene", which is quite mundane and nothing new to someone who isn't into Merzbow work too much. I'd say that the only distinctive feature is the cover with heavily cliched Fujiyama look. This one is limited to 500 copies. The second variant has more goals to mention, it's housed in very impressively designed plastic box together with poster and bonus-CD entitled "Early Computer Works". It's quite controversial and special hearing, in comparison with previous albums, it makes a great difference. At this point, I can remember some "loud" releases by Domizil like RM74 "Instabil" and some recent RLW works. This album sounds not so expressive and chaotic as usually, it makes me think about a huge metallic carcass closed in small space. It crawls and shakes, trying to find the way out, raising the pressure and exertion, but without much success. Well, thank to this bonus-CD the boxset is worth to have, but quite hard to find because the edition size is only 100 copies. [Dmitry Vasilyev, "Independent Electronic Music"]

Pale Roses is a new musical project from France (more precisely - from Bretagne) which plays neo-folk in its classical pure manner. Neo-folk typical sound becomes recognizable from the very first guitar accords and songs through the whole album, all its 10 compositions... The album is inspired, influenced and I would say even derives from Sol Invictus and there is its own specific charm in this thing. It is not about mindless copying Sol Invictus style, it is about Arnaud's view of Sol Invictus music that is converting into his own unique musical world which is called Pale Roses. [label info]

Sublime new album from the drone / dark ambient legend. Comprising of five deeply-layered extended tracks, mixed and edited from re-sampled location recordings originally captured inside the hanger environs of a Northrop-Grumman B-2 Stealth Bomber, during a period of downtime maintenance at a U.S. Air Force base in Cambridgeshire, England. Original field recordings and texture preparations by FOURM/Si_Comm. First edition pressing of 1000 copies includes bonus disc comprised of this *pre-mix* material in its original, un-edited form, as a representation of the source audio from which "Stealth" was reconstituted. Svarrogh / Defile Des Ames / Arnica -- "South European Folk Compendium" -- CD -- €10
2009 Ahnstern, Ahnstern37
This thriple-split CD is a unique compendium of South European folk music, inspired by Balkan, Catalan and Hellenic traditional culture. The sources and the stylistic devices of the three artists are quite different and descending from three different cultural regions, but there is just one intention and one deep mythological spirit, that unites the musicians to build up an axis through the mediterranean sunlit landscapes. On this album you will drown into the ritual, Alpine-Folk shamanism of Arnica, using a wide range of traditional instruments and the spirit of Catalunya - Svarrogh drags you to the deep and dark forests of Bulgaria by slavic chants, where you will meet the god Veles in his wooden shrine - and you will waft through a droning and apocalyptic haze to the powerful and emotional hellenic spheres of Defile des Ames from Greece. - 10 songs / 60 min. Uruk-Hai -- "Northern Lights" -- CD -- €8
2011 Valgriind, VG 47
Among those musicians who have read of tons of heroic fantasy books and spent hours listening to the music of Varg and Summoning and then rushed to torture guitars and synthesizers creating "inspired epic music", Alexander Wieser and his Uruk-Hai are the most pleasant to me, being a usual listener. He manages to create really epic compositions imbued with the spirit of ancient tales, soaked in spirit of bloody battles or beauty of fairy worlds where the dreamy author's nature tries to get with the help of rich fantasy. "Northern Lights" is a reissue of a cassette from 2005, with excluded track "Moria" (caused by of lack of space) and new bonus tracks instead old ones. This album material perfectly shows the essence of Wieser's music. On the one hand, it is black metal rawness and rage of Burzum (although the instrumental cover-version sounds very peaceful), on another - fantasy-like "otherworldness" of Enya (whose track "May It Be" is sung by some Hildr Valkyrie good in everything except for the fact that she is far from being Enya, and it speaks for itself)... When many adherents of "black ambient" play on two-three synth keys, Wieser manages to compose simple but heart-stirring electronic symphonies... A good work of Uruk-Hai waited for more effectrive media and meeting larger audience. [maeror3.livejournal.com]

Wakeford, Tony -- "Not All Of Me Will Die" -- CD -- €10
2009 The Eastern Front, Front 023, (ltd. 1000)
«Non omnis moriar» — «Not all of me will die». Over 2000 years ago, the Roman poet Horace wrote this line. Its poignant defiance of human mortality and faith in the transcending power of art rings out down the ages, finding an echo in this new work from Tony Wakeford, best known as the founder of seminal English dark folk band Sol Invictus. Not All Of Me Will Die is Tony Wakeford’s fourth solo studio album. It commemorates the life and work of the Polish-Ukrainian Jewish poetess Zuzanna Ginczanka, who was executed by the Gestapo in Krakow in 1944. All of the album’s lyrics are based on Ginczanka’s verses. As with his last solo outing, 2007’s Into The Woods, Tony Wakeford is joined here by a range of guest musicians and vocalists, including avant-garde composer Susan Matthews and members of Orchestra Noir, Zunroyz and Sol Invictus. Watermann, John -- "Calcutta Gas Chamber" -- CD -- €11
2006 Cold Spring Records, CSR52CD
The idea for this project came about after a visit to Calcutta in 1990, and through the nightmarish experiences during that short visit. The concept of aurally conveying the horror of a gas chamber was realised through field recordings in an abandoned electrical power station in Brisbane in 1992. The sounds are grating and harsh, a mixture of field recordings and electronic manipulations. One can rarely pinpoint a location or action but the images the sounds conjure up are of all sorts of nefarious activites related to death by machinery. The sleeve notes take you into the horror that is the Calcutta Gas Chamber. John Watermann started the re-design for this re-issue (originally released in 1993 on US label ND), but tragically passed away in 2002 before its realisation. A beautifully composed and produced CD, completely remastered and re-packaged. [label info]
