Dear comrades!

Winter doesn't want to surrender here, we got a snowstorm behind the window, and the best soundtrack for it just released in a series of ZHELEZOBETON Distribution Division - a collaboration album of two Moscow-based projects Otzepenevshiye / Vir'. Detailed info about the disk can be found below, along with the traditional mailorder update which includes latest releases from the labels Aquarellist, Heart & Crossbone, bombastic martial albums from Rage In Eden and melancholic neofolk from Bunkier Productions. The lovers of analogue sound may appreciate the cassettes of the Lithuanian label Terror, new cassette from Pustota project, and a nice 7" record from the Moscow-based band Post-Materialists.

All the best,
M.M.

Otzepenevshiye were formed in 2006 and by now have already recorded a conceptual split-album with Allerseelen and Neutral (2008, Ewers Tonkunst / Indiestate), have taken part in a series of releases of the Heliophagia label and contributed to several compilations. The band consists of members of the well-known Russian post-industrial projects Sal Solaris and Reutoff.

Vir' dates from 1996, having released some self-made demos, split-releases and two full-length albums: "Lower Forest" (2006, Indie-Go!) and "Horna" (2008, Mosquito Records).

The creation of a collaboration album was conceived by the members of both bands during their collective gig in Kazan'. Through the mutual exchange and editing of material they managed to record not just a split but something more that combined the planes of both acts and surpassed their traditional sound, not always resembling the individual works of both projects. The style of the album is really hard to define but to mark the relative field we could use such tags as sludge / drone doom / industrial / dark ambient.

Roaring guitars and the powerful drive of a live drum kit turn into measured industrial drum-machine rhythms, a clatter of iron sheets, synthesizers and field recordings, then again giving room to overdriven strings and profound insane vocals of Sergey Milushkin (Vir').

Metaphysically this album is a kind of optical device, a magic lantern with opaque glass - matching the anguish and desperation of Russian life. However looking more closely one can distinguish amazing patterns on the black soot of this glass behind which shines the everburning living fire.

CDs & CD-Rs

Ad Ombra -- "Almost Eternity" -- CD -- €10
2011 Rage In Eden, RAGE 83
After two years since the last release of ‘Magna Charta Illusorum’, Ad Ombra returns with a new album titled ‘Almost Eternity- Handmade beliefs for the nostalgic lambs’. The album presents 10 orchestral compositions. All the complex tunes, changes in the pace, dramatic phrases and the beautiful opera voice; all of them heard from the previous releases are also presented on ‘Almost Eternity’. The music is perfectly polished, definitely the magic of the third record worked well. The most sophisticated album by Ad Ombra. [press-release]

Aendlex -- "Pre Rup Stairs" -- CD-R -- €7
2012 Bunkier Productions, BXVII
Sometimes simple instruments and a bit of talent is enough to create something very climatic. This is exactly the case when speaking of Italian band called Aendlex. “Pre Rup Stairs” is full of hypnotic guitar sounds and nostalgic vocals of Alex. The material enclosed on the album oscillates somewhere between the acid folk & twisted acoustic achievements of Charles Manson. It is the fourth work of this one man band from Italy, although with a new and alternative approach to composing music: there is not as extensive usage of electronics tracks were almost solely recorded just with a guitar and voice, to make everything more pure. Limited edition. Hand numbered. Released as oversized gatefold. Professional print. [press-release]

Ain Soph -- "Aurora" -- CD -- €12
1992/2012 Old Europa Cafe, OECD 053 II / Misty Circles, MCR79
After his first edition back in 1992 on "Cthulhu Records", and the OEC re-edition in 2003 here comes the 3rd edition of this very seminal album! As for the first re-edition to the album was added one unreleased exclusive track recorded during the same first "Aurora" recording sessions but never used on any album nor compilations. This album is to be considered a pioneers opera of neo-folk cabaret which was influencing many artists. A very controversial and politically incorrect album talking about Italy during & after "WW2". Digipack artwork basically in the same form of the original but for the first time all lyrics on the booklet are in both : original languages (such as Italian, French, Spanish, Latin ..) and English translations. The whole album was completely re-mastered for best and high quality sounds. [press-release]

Antikatechon -- "Chrisma Crucifixorum" -- CD -- €10
2012 Rage In Eden, RAGE 87
There were no classic dark ambient albums in Rage In Eden recently, so it's highest time to change it. This time I offer 57 minutes of music in this genre. Very interested album, not dominated only by dark sounds (of course they are present), but they are some kind of base for beautiful, trance melodies. This alternance of melodies and unspecified sounds makes this album to be listen with huge interest. [press-release]

Art Of Empathy -- "Posthuman Decadence" -- CD -- €10
2012 Bunkier Productions, BXIX
Neofolk. "Posthuman Decadence" tells the story of the struggling man, trying hard to give meaning to his life. Although he tries his best, he slips further and further away from his original nature. His intentions are often good, but in the end, he falls into decay. It’s then he gets confronted with his dependence on nature and his beloved ones. [label info]

Auswalht -- "Paroxysm" -- CD -- €10
2012 Rage In Eden, RAGE 86
France – this country has lately given us a lot of records of military industrial music, e.g. March of Heroes, Liyr, and now a great CD Auswalht. It is not a debut; we have had a chance to hear about Auswalht together with a debut of "History Of Suffering" released by Collapse Of Utopia from China. This time Auswalht has treated us with a great dose of military music. Earlier mentioned projects - March of Heroes and Liyr did not appear there by accident. Auswalht indirectly refers to achievements of two groups while seizing roughness of March of Heroes and Liyr’s atmosphere. What’s worth mentioning is that the music of Auswalht and Liyr was composed by the same person, Sven Mann. Powerful music, strong recommendation! [press-release]

C.C.C.C. -- "Black Light / Black Heat" -- CD -- €10

Members of this legendary Japan noise project were: Mayuko Hino, Hiroshi Hasegawa, Fumio Kosakai and Ryuichi Nagakubo. "Black Light / Black Heat" will be the very last CCCC album! Don't loose this masterpiece of Jap psych-noise. [Old Europa Cafe]

Candor Chasma -- "Rings" -- CD -- €12
2012 Old Europa Cafe, OECD 152, (ltd. 300)
Candor Chasma is the new electronic Italian duo of Corrado Altieri (Monosonik, Uncodified) and Simon Balestrazzi (T.A.C., Dream Weapon Ritual). The band name comes from outer space (Candor Chasma is one of the largest canyons in the Valles Marineris canyon system on Mars) and their debut album is a 5-part hallucinogenic voyage inside analogue whirls, multilayered textures made of tapes and white noise, psychedelic frequencies and cerebral ambient-noise. With the duo rewrites and revises old school industrial, creating contemporary hypnotic atmospheres and up to date power-electronics explosions yet making full reference to the experimental side of the grey area. For sure a project that will appeal to all the fans of good old-school sounds. [press-release]

Reissue of a c30 released by Since 1972 back in 2004. Harsh noise at its finest. If you liked Night of the Bloody Tapes you will love this. Both tracks are full of crunch and thick layered distortion. Stop reading this and listen to the damn sample. Cover/ Art by John Wiese. [label info]

DN23rd -- "Signals From Outside / Unconnect" -- 2 CD-R -- €7
2013 Down Elkovca Records, CD-R DER 007, (ltd. 13)
Unique and cult "project" from Russian underground, all the recordings of which are the fixations of radionoises on various frequencies. No editing. Only selection of an interesting frequency and complete human noninterference in the process of radio-receiver's work. This release is a reissue of two previously released radio fixations. Signals From Outside was released three times (in 2001 - ltd. 4 copies, in 2002 - ltd. 23 copies, and in 2004 - again ltd. 23 copies). Unconnect was released only once in 2004 ltd. 23 copies. Dom Vdovy -- "Morok" -- CD-R -- €7
2012 self-released, (ltd. 50)
Dom Vdovy, coming from Tosno, Leningrad region, describes its own music as dark / horror ambient, dungeon synth. The album "Morok" was released in 2012 as a small CDR edition by its mastermind Konstantin Vdovetskiy. His music is mostly dark indeed, often with medieval gothic feel and quite varied in means of expression: here you'll find atmospheric ambient with processed field recordings, muffled gabbling and synthesizer melodies, vocal parts reciting creepy lyrics and tales, mysterious scrabble of unidentified origin, like a wind twitching old cemetary gate, some real edieval rock / metal, and even dramatic noisescapes. A couple of tracks feature such musicians as A.T.M.O.M. and Avallon, and the last track is a cover version of a composition by Velvet Cacoon. Overall, this album is way more varied in it's musical mood then the previous CD "Wilczyca".

Eldar -- "The Secret Golden Flower" -- CD -- €12
2012 Old Europa Cafe, OECD 163
ELDAR, the Spanish Dark Ambient/Martial project that once started on Cold Meat Industry, return with yet another conceptual album presenting a wide range of beautiful sounds. The concept of this album is inspired by the mystical and psychological archetypes to explain the universal version of a generic soul that rules from the collective unconscious of individuals in all human civilizations since antiquity. These archaic prototypes were copied, emulated and used since the dawn of humanity, and fantastic dream and images have been represented in myths and symbols, trying to explain these exemplary patterns that are still alive and latent until today. They sleep present in popular folklore, in the psyche of every human being, influencing yourself and collectively in the beliefs and ideas that lead them to make beautiful and creative acts or carrying even their own destruction, evolving or backward from that inexorable shape societies through time and history. This album runs in his melodies and lyrics the long road of archetypes that continue to print his psychological injury in each individual and that shape their behavior in society, determining the fate of humanity. Composed by Marc Merinee & Merce Spica and recorded at Oxid Studio Barcelona 2011. Produced & Mastered by Marc Merinee. Art Work by Alonso Urbanos.

End Of Silence -- "Auditorium" -- CD -- €10
2012 Heart & Crossbone, HCB 039 / Ecocentric Records, E.R. #177 CD
Incarnated in 1990 as an offshoot from the grind-noise deformation executed by Seven Minutes of Nausea, it's been ages since End of Silence last released something. "Auditorium" captures their supreme 2012 comeback with a new and impressive full album: A purifying out of body experience for those who opted the subterranean path that leads you from eerie noise temptation to evil pendulum-doom hypnosis and all the way back through the power and the glory of wildernesses' drones: A measured portion of endless, magnetic, drilling and agitated audio-apocalypse. Ex.Order -- "Shuchu Ryoku" -- CD -- €12
2010 Power & Steel, PAS 28
Ex.Order presenting ten new tracks of unrelenting Noise Electronics covering numerous areas of violence, disillusionment and abstraction. Shuchu Ryoku means the focused power and the wall of sound here is underlayed by hypnotical ambient-noise layers which stands for a well known trade mark of Ex.Order. A throbbing audio force built up by massive analogue soundwaves, heavily driven mechanical percussion, sample-collages and vocals. This is another complex and explosive industrial tapestry of sound, performed with control and brutality. [press-release]

Family Underground -- "Un Tratto Di Malinconia" -- CD -- €10
Turgid Animal, (ltd. 500)
"If recent offerings from this long running CPH outfit (this being their ninth studio album) has showed a leaning towards a more industrialized sound. This could be said to be the band's first proper Industrial record. The drone pieces of the past are still present but in a more controlled and subtle way, adding even further to the psychedelic experience, and tying together 5 harsh industrial tracks. At times this will remind you of Whitehouse, Godflesh and more than anything else TG, complete with screamed desperate vocals and harsh oscillating synths. The disc flows extremely well and this together with the unorthodox artwork invokes an almost soundtrack like atmosphere. I urge everybody into oldschool industrial not to let the bands background trick you into not giving this album the attention it deserves". - Klaus Hansen

First Law -- "A Future So Bright" -- CD -- €12
2012 Loki Foundation, LOKI 58
In its 20 years of existence -meanwhile the mastermind Andreas Wahnmann also has been active in several other musical projects- FIR§T LAW released six full length CDs up to now and developed a trademark in sound research that is truly genre defying. The album title and the cover art for this magical 7th album stand in strong contrast to the musical content and the album manifests its ironical and deliberately conflicting nature right from the start. Deep and throbbing rhythmic patterns, endless layers of guitars droning and manipulated vocals are opposed by disturbingly beautiful melodies. The complexity of the recordings just emphasizes its depressing nature and takes the listener on a journey through sound and emotion. A FUTURE SO BRIGHT is nothing less than an outstanding sound-scape that flows like a hallucinatory maelstrom and marks the darkest release of FIR§T LAW so far. [press-release]

Ghazala, Q.R. -- "Threnody To The New Victims Of Hiroshima" -- CD -- €10
1995 Realization Recordings, RZD-022
Threnody was created using Ghazala's invented Vox Insecta instrument, an elaborate insect voice synthesizer housed within a 1940's Stenograph machine. In addition to insect sounds, the instrument here also synthesizes orchestral textures, choirs, and a strange assortment of surreal musical voices. The composition's five movements, considered unlistenable by some, thrive on the familiar discordance of insect fields and the wondrous uncharted harmonies that lie within. Titled after Penderecki's ground-breaking work, Threnody to the Victims of Hiroshima, and exploring similar tonalities, extended instrumentation recalls the tragedy of Hiroshima's destruction through broad curtains of impressionistic sound. Beautiful program booklet and full-color artwork throughout. [press-release]

Holism Gaea -- "Blakesian Williamness" -- CD-R -- €7
2012 Heart & Crossbone, HCB 042 / Topheth Prophet, TP-026
Offering a firm interpretation to William Blake's thorough stance of duality in mankind existence, and the significance of good and evil (as primarily featured on his book, "The Marriage of Heaven and Hell"), Holism Gaea is a new duo that valiantly leaps into this torrid maze of a multi disciplinary work of art - and transferring it to a new domain - by translating it to sound through space and time. Charged with a portion of noise and post industrial alienation, 'Blakesian Williamness' erupts with "Antares Fall": a hypnotic monotonous beat leading a bleak and astral space-noise journey into hell, followed by a psychedelic twang and some static noises that leak into "But in the Wine Presses..." who recalls Coil and the finest indifferent moments on Spectrum's "Forever Alien" album, before landing in cosmos heaven with the surprisingly gentle and quasi-melodic "Ah! Sunflower", a beautiful poem by Blake which at this point makes every word, coming out of Holism Gaea's vocalist, shiver: "...Where the Youth pined away with desire/ And the pale virgin shrouded in snow / Rise from their graves and aspire / Where my Sunflower wishes to go". More elevating cosmic noise tracks to follow, such as the epic and dark "The Argument", yet once "Blakesian Williamness" ends, peaceful silence will never seem so out of reach and will never be taken for granted again. Jazkamer -- "Musica Non Grata" -- CD -- €10
2010 Pica Disk, PICA015
The February edition of Jazkamer's 2010 monthly CD-series. "Musica Non Grata" is a feedback-fest. Armed with guitars and analogue synths and an arsenal of amps, Hegre, Gross and Marhaug locked themselves into Duper Studios in Bergen, exploring how feedback-timbre sounds like when recorded on an analogue 24 track 2" tape-machine. The three long tracks that makes "Musica Non Grata" are slow-moving long-form meditations on feedback that will be bliss for a select few and hell for most listeners. February is not an easy month. Marchetti, Lionel -- "Knud Un Nom De Serpent" -- CD -- €10
1999/2009 Intransitive Recordings, INT014
Lionel Marchetti’s classic album of harrowing tape music from 1999, Knud un Nom de Serpent (Le Cercle des Entrailles), was published by Intransitive in 1999, quickly sold out, and remains the most requested title to be resurrected from our back catalog. We’re thrilled to make Knud available again, now with a striking new cover design and an appreciative essay by Bhob Rainey (nmperign, The BSC). The gripping drama of Knud un Nom de Serpent illustrates Marchetti’s idea of popular music as Shamanic ritual, a gateway to ecstatic altered states. Armed with fierce wit and a razor blade, he smashes together sounds from all over the world into a hallucinatory cyclone of Jamaican reggae, French chanson, American avant-garde vocalists, Thai pop songs, nature recordings, spoken text, and more. The result is a chilling work of furious, obliquely narrative tape-collage and tense, frightening scenes. As Marchetti explained to The Wire magazine, “I’ve always been interested in the idea of the medicine man. Someone who by sheer force of imagination transports you into another world, part artist, part healer. Maybe that’s what a composer is.” [press-release]

Mauthausen Orchestra -- "Where Are We Going?" -- CD -- €10
2008 BloodLust!, B!091
The first full-length release in over ten years! Pierpaolo Zoppo returns with seven new songs, recorded for BloodLust! in 2006, as a follow-up to his "Smooth Hate" 7-inch (B!065), which immediately sold out of its limited edition of 100 copies --- and the "Forbidden Ground" private series 7-inch (B!056); Perfectly cold, austere, and dark analog synth material --- for fans of Zoppo's outstanding, evolving contemporary work --- yet carrying enough weight behind it to please all but the most close-minded and jaded fans of his early, violent, primitive, and raw Mauthausen Orchestra recordings (recently revisited for the lavish Broken Flag box set released by Vinyl-on-demand in 2007); This CD is packaged in a handsome black and white and color four-panel Digipak, designed by ex-BLOODYMINDED member, Megan Emish. MFH -- "1979-85" -- CD -- €10
2012 Forced Nostalgia, FN014CD
MFH were formed by Andrew Cox (Maths) and David Elliott (Geography) at Sussex University in November 1979. The former had a home-made synthesizer, the latter a large record collection, and between them a guitar, some circuit boards and a few effects units. Neither could really play, but in the just-do-it spirit of punk they pooled their influences and made some noise-bordering-on-music like countless other ‘bedroom bands’. This was the ‘era’ of new wave experimentalism, Cabaret Voltaire, TG & Industrial, guitars & drums giving way to synths & drum-machines, abrasive short instrumentals, 4-track portastudios, and the advent of cassette labels. It was a great time to be in music when the term ‘music’ was up for grabs. [label info]

The New Blockaders / Thurston Moore / Jim O'rourke -- "The Voloptulist" -- CD -- €10
2006 Hospital Productions, HOS-144
An unbelievable line-up on this one, UK noise icons The New Blockaders team up with erstwhile Sonic Youth bandmates, Thurston Moore and Jim O'Rourke with more than a little help from the reliably jaw-dropping Chris Corsano. The disc is divided into two pieces, the first being the collaboration with Thurston, which turns out to be a particularly obscure drone piece, constituted from hissing feedback tones, tape crackle and some sort of chaotic, mechanical sound sources. The piece evolves infinitesimally over the course of its fourteen minutes, rendering an uncompromising, though highly textured vision of analogue sound sculpting. The other, shorter piece '840 Seconds Over' continues in its predecessor's campaign of high frequency feedback manipulations this time with the addition of some caterwhauling noise oscillator free jazz and typically virtuosic improv drumming from Corsano. It's a real force to be reckoned with, and the crispness of Corsano's kit works perfectly against the hiss and fizz from the tape-heavy, droning elements. It's all over rather too soon (the whole thing clocks in at just over twenty-one minutes), but you can hardly expect anyone to keep up these levels of intensity for prolonged periods, can you? Superb, top-flight noise. [press-release]

The Ritual Inclusion Of Code -- "Beta Wave Nemisis" -- CD -- €10
2011 Small Doses, DOSE80
The Ritual Inclusion of Code is a monumental collaboration between Daniel Jansson (Deadwood) and Osman Arabi (20.sv, Seeker). Beta Wave Nemisis is their premiere recording. Both men's influences and efforts are immediately apparent and blend effortlessly to create this thirty-one minute document of a long journey. Dark ambient textures blend with industrial soundscapes. Harsh noise floats with minimal drone and power electronics vocalizations. One movement flows well into the next, making for an intense and epic debut recording. The art and design was handled by Seldon Hunt. [press-release]

Roma Amor -- "Occi Neri" -- CD -- €12
2012 Old Europa Cafe, OECD 146
Somewhere between the melodic folk-inflected charm of Italian 60’s songwriters and the cabaret swoon of French chansonniers, Roma Amor’s new album is instinctively romantic and sophisticated. This album will seduce you with its summer-evening mellowness before breaking your heart with its beautifully sensual croon. Wonderful ballads and torch songs about love inspired by the epic, fatalistic rugged grandeur of Aznavour, Brel, Piaf, and 60’s Italian songwriters, though in a much quieter and more delicate setting. The album is sung in Italian with some French touches and the songs are from Roma Amor’s own harvest. The result isn't experimental or innovative, but an acoustic and intimate album for fans of well-crafted singer-songwriting. Retro chic pale-blue digipak packaging with all lyrics included. Sabled Sun -- "2145" -- CD -- €12

Simon Heath returns from the void with another detailed and complex dark ambient album. This time under his alias SABLED SUN, a project close to ATRIUM CARCERI but with a more prominent story woven element of the post apocalyptic. The album 2145 will take you to the desolate landscapes of a fallen future, where a mans voyage after being released from deep freeze hibernation turns into a realization of his own shattered mentality. Schloss Tegal -- "Black Static Transmission" -- CD -- €10
1999 Cold Spring, CSR25CD
On this, their fifth album, SCHLOSS TEGAL explore the realms of the dead, within the phenomena known as evp (electronic voice phenomena). Though hailed as one of the greatest dark ambient acts around today, this is considered to be their finest outing to date. Extreme dark ambient mixes effortlessly with ‘dead voices on air’ – voices that have been recorded by the band themselves, and with help from electronic voice phenomena specialist and mortician, EN LLEWELLYN. These voices claim to be the spirits of people who once lived on this planet. The concept of this album focuses totally on the world beyond our reality – a peek into areas of darkness populated by the dead. An enthralling and genuinely unique album. [press-release]

Smegma -- "Nattering Naybobs Of Negativity" -- CD -- €10
1987/2007 Harbinger Sound, HARBINGER 051, (ltd. 1000)
It's another Smegma re-issue and yet again I am dumbfounded by the sheer creative force on offer here. I'm not sure whether this is free-jazz, improv, noise-core, tape music or all of the above, what I am sure of is that it's absolutely bonkers and recorded evidence of one of the most singular and important acts in experimental music history. Okay so they might not be as universally acclaimed as say, Captain Beefheart and the Magic Band (possibly one of the closest comparisons...) but that's just because hardly anyone has actually heard them, it's just that everyone who has heard them ended up making records. That's the power this kind of music has on people, that's the sheer force of Smegma - this particular album for instance bears a striking resemblance to No Neck Blues Band, Sunburned Hand of the Man, Vibracathedral Orchestra and all of those weird, wonderful bands. Of course, Smegma were bashing out preternatural weirdness way before these kiddles were even apples in their parents' eyes, and the fact that this record (originally issued in 1987) still sounds fresh, still sounds totally contemporary is a testament to the band's shocking skill. WYRM (2000-2011). The project is now defunct and all activities have ceased. 11 years the archetype had been explored and exploited - new territories will be mapped out with Solumenata… Solumenata, WYRM co-founders Liz Lang (aka Auracene) and Allan Zane with the addition of PBK, have embarked on a new musical journey - taking them out of the “darkness” and into a “light” that is almost bone-bleaching. Six months even before the release of the farewell WYRM CD, Solumenata debuted with their first LP ‘Aeriform’ on the Russian SEALT label in the Summer of 2011. In less than three months, the LP sold out. 2013 sees the reissue of the first Solumenata LP on Aquarellist - now as a CD with many bonus tracks as ’Aeriform Redux’. [press-release]

Superbugger -- "AKU" -- CD -- €10
2012 Heart & Crossbone, HCB 039
New Zealanders Antony Milton (Mrtyu/Glory Fckn Sun) and James Kirk (Black Boned Angel/Sandoz Lab Technicians) are back with a mighty newborn NOISY rumble - A renewed gospel debauchery of massive psychedelic chunk! And a savage chunk it is! "AKU" is a sordid and relentless swirl of blunted in-the-red lo-fi noise, subhuman rock 'n roll structured decomposition and marbled psychedelia splendor solipsism, reminiscent of the seminal recordings made by Les Rallizes Denudes, Mainliner and Skullflower blended with the New Zealand natural and almighty trademark of savant-guitar-noise, from The Skeptics to The Dead C to Wolfskull that result in a splendid colossal noise coming down from the sky while shouting at the ground. and it is purely, astonishing. Teatro Satanico -- "Fatwa" -- CD -- €12
2012 Old Europa Cafe, OECD 154, (ltd. 300)
UNCOMPROMISING SATANICKA ELECTRONICKA! This album is without a doubt the band’s most Satanick work to date. It starts with a bunch of anti-religion synth-punk songs. Then it moves deeply farther into esoterick electronick left-hand paths, where post-industrial noises copulate with minimal-electro sounds. And then it puts a malediction (or a prayer?) on the real enemy of humanity. And ends summoning the Proud Adversary of the true evil, a ritual invocation to the only and true Light-bringer! And then again more hell to tell... 10 songs with Italian, English and Latin lyrics. Post-industrial laptop-punk & Satanicka esotericka electronicka at his very very beAst! Well hidden inside the digipack folder come 4 full-colour pictures of astonishing oil-paintings by SATURNO BUTTO' (www.saturnobutto.com), the Italian maestro internationally known for his exceptional and superior fine-art. Finnish harsh noise at finest! Umpio has slowly but steadily reached the top level of harsh noise. Scrap metal, self build metal junk instruments, feedback, intense cut-ups. Uvodna -- "Tainstvo Vril" -- CD -- €9
2012 Urgrund Division
"Uvodna is a lovely forest maiden beckoning traveller with her beauty deep inside forest and leaving him in a world of his dreams, taking him far to the west where sun goes backwards," - say the official page of the project based in Ulan-Ude, Buryatia. However the CD cover presents Uvodna not as a maiden, but as a flying saucer from the mythical project Haunebu, and the whole material was obviously composed under the influence of esotheric occultism of the Third Reich. Musically this is minimalistic synthesizer dark-ambient in vein of many post-black-metal projects, imbued with appropriate energetics.

Vinyl

Post-Materialists -- "Moist Rita & Glyptique" -- 7" s/s -- €12
2012 Post-Materialization Music, PMM101, (ltd. 300)
A single-sided 7" from the young Moscow-based band with two short tracks - something like deranged acid-jazz with twisted vocals, inhibited percussion, atonal keyboards, saxophone, small organ and detuned piano. Nice music for short-time brain melting. Outer sleeve and insert with deliberately rough silk-screen printing, 8-page booklet + solk-screened B-side.

Woundead -- "s/t" -- 7" -- €9
self-released, (ltd. 100)
Woundead is an old Finnish noise project. Side A contains a collage of relatively calm abstract noise pieces of acoustic and electronic origin with small inclusions of odd vocal samples. Side B shows coming and fading waves of same kind of textured noise layers. Self-released 7" in paper sleeve.

Lys -- "Klaida Ir Uzuojauta" -- MC -- €5
2012 Terror, TR-11, (ltd. 100)
First release of Lithuanian drone/ambient/noise maestro that has been not self-released. Watching his constantly improving live performances, it would be simply a mistake without compassion not to ask him to make an album for the label. And for me it truly seems the creation of a master. Precisely composed drone passages, merging with walls of noise. 40 minutes. The album title translates as Mistake and Compassion. [label info]

Oorchach -- "Vigilia" -- MC -- €5
2012 Terror, TR-10, (ltd. 100)
Oorchach, at least in Lithuania, has become a synonim for ritualistic tape loops and giddy journeys to the depth. Dry lips, constructing verses. Birds, screaming behind the window. Your wish to fly away is strong, but you remain here, holding the moment of vigilance. This tape must be listened to and to written about. 30 minutes. [label info]

Pustota -- "FON-44" -- C-60 -- €5
2013 Biosonar^Lo-End, 027, (ltd. 7)
This recording in the first imprint in the "FON" ("background") series - series of multilayered mixes of previously obtained noise material based exceptionally on tape noise and physical artifacts, manifesting during multiple re-recordings with the use of apparatus of various classes. In fact, PUSTOTA project calls on the aesthetics of historical usage of ausio cassettes, and everyday music fans aspirations of avoiding noise effects on phonograms which created the whole class of noise-reducing systems. So, this series shows exactly that noise in all its glory, extracted from the depths of magnetic spattering, that noise which was fought against during the whole history of using magnetic tape as data storage media. [press-release]

Svaixt -- "LO" -- MC -- €7
2012 Terror, TR-07, (ltd. 100)
A tape with little music, but lots of experiences. It is a document of the trip by Laurynas and Audrius to Mustang kingdom in Nepal. Early morning rites in the majestic 400 years old monastery of Tsarang. Rituals to expand the cavities in the sun that slowly lighten the mountains. Escape from the noise of the noon of Kathmandu to the stupa of Boudhanath. 5 o'clock morning rites in Tsarang monastery. The room of the Oracle and the hands of the architect - chopped off and hung on the wall so that he nevermore dares to create such grandeur. Sounds from this journey. Orange tape, comes with 12 page booklet with desription of a journey, packed in a nice orange bag. 40 minutes. [label info]

Atomtrakt -- "Artefakte Des Verderbens" -- CD -- €10
2012 Steinklang Industries, SK56, (ltd. 400)
Two years after the highly acclaimed „Sperrstelle Nordost“ album the mighty ATOMTRAKT are back with a new bombastic, martial, heroic and apocalyptic Industrial release which is entitled „Artefakte des Verderbens“. The album spreads a superior and cold atmosphere and deals with the Battle of Stalingrad (2nd World War). As on “Sperrstelle Nordost”, cold, heroic and atmospheric synthesizer layers are mixed with bombastic drums and military war-like rhythm patterns. The vocals on the new record vary from dark and clean to distorted and threatening. The overall sound of the album is powerful and bombastic – it spreads a superior and mighty atmosphere rarely heard before. The lyrics deal with fears, death, decay and ambiguity. When listening to this sophisticated album, you can find yourself on the battlefield in Stalingrad. The album itself never gets boring - This is due to the variety of songs and themes. The album is available in a 6-panel DIGIPAK and it was recorded and mastered at Luftschutzkerker Studio in Switzerland. [press-release]

Bad Sector -- "Transponder" -- CD -- €12
1999/2011 Infinite Fog Productions, IF-12
Science experiment as pagan ritual... Who needs representation for Bad Sector? Certainly almost no one. Since 95 year, each new album of this project it's event which is awaited by every second listener of industrial music. And now - long-awaited, CD the version, one of the most interesting albums of Italian master Massimo Magrini! First time Transponder was released as CD-r on Blade Records in 99, now the album is again accessible, in a new format and with additional, exclusive compositions of that period - "Yst" and "Waal"! More than 60 minutes dark, deep, meditative, structured noise-ambient, in the best traditions of Dolmen Factory and Ampos... [press-release]

Bad Sector / Contagious Orgasm -- "Vacuum Pulse" -- CD -- €12
1996/2000 Old Europa Cafe, OECD 032
"...From a mere description, this could end up sounding like every other drone and ambient noise release you own, but the fact is that nothing can account for the sheer depth and richness of the sounds on offer here. Everything has an almost organic quality to it, the drones sounding so liquid and deep that they take on a life of their own, both separate and a part of their generative technology - an otherworldly symbiosis of life and machine that stems directly from science fiction. It is hard to distinguish the two different artists' efforts from one another, as their approaches to sound and composition are so alike, especially when focussed towards this common theme. It is, then, almost the perfect collaboration, each artists' talents serving to enhance the other's and producing a work that is not far removed from their usual output, but that has that elusive X-factor of genius and serendipity that quickly ranks this as a classic of modern music. Nearly indescribable, highly recommended." [Gavin Lees, Immanence Records]

Bianchi, Maurizio / Peter Andersson - Henrik Nordvargr Björkk - Jarl -- "S.F.A.G. / S.F.A.G. De-Composed" -- 2 CD -- €14
1983/2010 Old Europa Cafe, OECD 134
ANTE-FACTS: After the disintegrative period of my production (from “Symphony for a Genocide” to “Das Testament”), the purchase of a misanthropic echo-machine and the consequent decay of the electric-analogue machinery, my efforts was redirected to a pre-recording sound sublimation, so I started to re-compose the electronic metastasis of early times, filtering through dehumanizing effects of the echo-machine, keeping attention particularly to the explanatory process of my ancestral subjectivism. FACTS: The modulatory shaking of S.F.A.G is the oxygenating prelude to the irradiating bionic music later developed through levigating works such as “Endometrio” and “Carcinosi” and represents a milestone in my pre-apocalyptic production which later will culminate into the horrid of “Armaghedon”. The exegesis of this work reflects a strong attachment to smooth and round effects of the roughness of the frantic early days, but with a constant preference for the symbiosis between well preordered sound masses and not well defined radio broadcasts, like nebulae drifting in a space in trembling condensation. POST-FACTS: The interest of Gary Mundy of the British “Broken Flag” label (who later would have released the esoteric "The Plain Truth") gave me the incentive to make him listen to the demo tape which was of his liking so that in January 1983 he decided to publish the album as a tape with the title "SFAG 1981" (the year relates to the link with the date of the beginning of my vinyl production). In the early 90's Tegal Records was releasing a non-authorised "truncated" version on CD, but this new version of OEC maintains the integrity of the entire work and was completely digitally remastered by Peter Andersson (Raison D’etre). [Maurizio Bianchi] The original album is accompanied by a second CD with 3 de-compositions using extracts of the original S.F.A.G. recordings done by 3 well known Nordic industrial artists: Peter Andersson (Raison D'Etre), Henrik Nordvargr Björkk (MZ.412), Erik Jarl (IRM). The whole is coming in a nice vintage packaging reminding to the first Industrial/Vinyl era: Gatefold cover as the old vinyl covers but CD sized and vinyl-look CD's. [label info]

Bianchi, Maurizio & Jan-M. Iversen -- "Rekviem MB-JMI" -- CD -- €10
2011 Silentes Minimal Editions, sme 1144
A "classic" minimal ambient album; just one long track, a bit obscure, of a static nature but unarrestable as a matter of fact and slowly developing, built with layers of soft and 'round' sounds, heavily processed and effected, whose origin seems to be an organ... "Atypical" for sure, if confrontated with the huge and widely diversified productions of Maurizio Bianchi, this new album is probably one of the last and not to be missed releases signed by 'M.B.', since he has already announced his definitive departure from the musical scene. Another extraordinary collaborative CD, involving this time Jan-M. Iversen, an artist of international fame who managed to enrich and elaborate with great effect the "sound materials" provided by Maurizio Bianchi. [press-release]

Bionulor -- "Sacred Mushroom Chant" -- CD -- €10
2011 Wrotycz Records, WRT011
Inspired by the work of such artists as Aube and William Basinski, Bionulor again rakes the past, looking like an alchemist for the most appropriate material for their work. "Sacred Mushroom Chant" is a record created solely on the basis of treatment of the human voice without additional sounds or instruments... Each of the five tracks is based on a separate part of the sound source. Then the base is: an archival record of shamanic chant associated with the ceremony of taking hallucinogenic mushrooms, a Japanese traditional song extracted from a collection of old vinyl records, Neil Armstrong's walking on the lunar surface famous phrase, a fragment of an interview with Marcel Duchamp telling about his first ready-made, and finally the voice of the artist himself denouncing the sentence attributed to Hassan ibn Sabbah (“Nothing is true”)... Over 50 minutes of pure experimental music (mix of minimal, ambient and even noisy sounds) created on the basis of author's creative method called the "100% sound recycling". Cover art by Monika Machnik, mastered by Peter Andersson. Comes in 4-panel digipack. You will be really impressed when you realize that those tracks were crafted only with scraps of samples. DDV -- "A Sound Atlas Of Venereology" -- CD -- €10
1982/2011 Trash Ritual, trash054
Another re-issue on Trash Ritual by Danny DeVos, also known as DDV and one half of Club Moral. His 'Sound Atlas Of Venereology' dates from 1982. This is very much an underground product of its time: a booklet with pictures of veneric diseases, and its not always to relate them to the music (not the titles of the pieces: they speak volumes!), which is the sort of noise that was popular in the days: a simple synthesizer sound, piercing vocals (which are unmistakably DDV sneering vocal charm), cut-ups and manipulations of vinyl records. A great document of its time. [from FdW review, Vital Weekly]

Year 1994 in Norway. Lasse Marhaug has yet to start working under his own name. Obscure short lived project just before that, titled Egoproblem releases one 20 minute tape and performs one live gigs. This CD collects those materials, presenting the most straight forward industrial/power electronics works of Lasse Marhaug. In total c. 40 minutes of simple but effective works full of hard tones and metal banging. Tape/Exit/Kill from original DAT tape, live recording with decayed and crude industrial-noise attack! While the last releases were focussed on archive and live recordings this is finally the all new album, following the INFERNAL AGE from 1999. Ten tracks of an immensely raw sonic and violent aesthetic constructed through dark throbbing machine noises, crushing rhythmic layers and vocals. Highly explosive heavy electronics, uncompromising and provocative both sonically and visually. An unforgiving tour de force capturing the perfection of disorder. The absolute response to the nightmare that is the world we live in. [press release]

Gelsomina -- "Nostalghia" -- CD -- €10
2004/2006 Cipher Productions, (sic 28) / Musically Incorrect Records, MIRCD2, (ltd. 500)
The name Gelsomina was encountered before, on a bunch of CDR compilations from Finnish Musically Incorrect Records, who also released 'Rautavaara'. The first ten tracks on 'Nostalgia' were originally released by Smell The Stench in 2004 as a cassette. Gelsomina is the nom de plume for Pekka PT, who is credited for 'noise' and noise is what we get. Loud obnoxious feedback and distortion, the full works are here. Unlike others in this field, Gelsomina has 'depth', has 'variation' and has 'skil' - three factors not always present in the work of the lesser imaginative noise makers. Even when Gelsomina walks the paths of noise that is now paved like a highway and no longer a 'find your way in the bush', he still does a pretty fine job, pretty much along the lines of a good Merzbow. One of the better noise makers I encountered recently. [Vital Weekly]

H.E.R.R. -- "XII Caesars" -- CD -- €10
2009 Cold Spring, CSR117CD
Neoclassical. H.E.R.R.'s 4th album was originally inspired by the book "De Vita Caesarum" by Gaius Suetonius Tranquillus from 121 AD, during the reign of the emperor Hadrian. It is one of the greatest sources of much of what we know about the first twelve Caesars after the fall of the Republic. The first tragi-comic Neoclassical operetta about The Twelve Caesars. Let the light of heart rule in this more "song-based" album. Comes with an elegant 16-page booklet. [label info]

Incapacitants -- "Burning Orange" -- CD -- €10
2008 Pica Disk, PICA006
Incapacitants needs no introduction; the duo of Fumio Kosakai and T.Mikawa; veterans and originators of Japanese noise music; cult band number one for noise fanatics worldwide; a band whose infamous status as the best live noise act ever has continued to grow over the years because the duo almost never plays outside of Japan. In January 2007 Incapacitants performed live, for the second time in Europe in 25 years, at the All Ears festival in Oslo Norway for an overly enthusiastic audience (people from all around Europe had travelled to see their heroes). The band later described the two shows as highlights of their career. Burning Orange documents these concerts. The CD consists of two complete sets; one Incapacitants as a duo and on the second joined by finnish noise-connoisseur Tommi Keränen (Testicle Hazard) as a trio under the name of Fumio Tommiakawa (a take on Gomikawa Fumio; the trio of Pain Jerk and Incapacitants). The sound of Incapacitants is described in the liner notes of Burning Orange by Tommi Keränen as "an inspiring, pure, all-encompassing, ecstatic storm of sound that has a power of near-religious proportions – and that alone, without any unnecessary gimmicks". That celebratory ecstasy certainly comes across on Burning Orange, of which Kerдänen also handled the post-production under the supervision of Mikawa. [press-release]

Incapacitants -- "Mon, Ma? Mon!!!" -- CD -- €10
2012 Triangle, TR-50 / Cerosene / Outcry Records, (ltd. 500)
Continuing celebration of their recent 30-year anniversary iconic Japanese band INCAPACITANTS presents a new gift for their devotees. The newest CD contains 60 minutes of exhausting psychedelic kind of noise. Inedible mush made of whistling feedback and drilling high frequencies. Cumbersome, nasty debris of harsh noise. Digisleeve CD. [label info]

Incinerator International -- "Head On" -- CD -- €10
2004 Old Europa Cafe, OECD 067
Incinerator International is a collaborative project between: US noisemaster John Balistreri (Slogun) and Swedish multi-musician Henrik Nordvargr Bjorkk (MZ. 412, Folkstorm, HH9, etc). Highly distorted, disturbed and menacing, this soundtrack for every girls nightmare is finally unleashed to rip your speakers apart! Soundwise you will recognize the frantic vocals that Slogun is known for, but this time the musical backdrop is more of a dirty Folkstorm-ish nature. This is the future of power electronics! Kneel before your masters! YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHAT TO ASPECT! [press-release]

Institut -- "Live Like Traitors, Die Like Traitors" -- CD -- €12
2003 Cold Meat Industry, cmi106
Allow yourself to remember the sixties for a moment, a world full of ideals, protesters and national secrecy. Steaming masses, no repents, frightful threats. Influenced by political regulation, dramatic borderlines and acute strife, Institut claim their view of disorder with nine throbbing new radical outbursts. The sound presented here has a narrower approach than before, tending to even more monotony, though no compromises has been made in intensity levels. Full of splendid hate for one and all. Feel the presence and keep your head held high. So, no more dancing folks, this is serious business. Chew stone, fuel for fistfights, instead of your daily falafel. Explore new ground. There's a lot to change. [press-release]

Institut -- "The Struggle Never Ended" -- CD -- €12
2005 Cold Meat Industry, cmi143, (ltd. 1000)
Lirim Cajani's project Institut should be well established now, having played a lot around Europe over the years. This newly recorded effort, the first CD without earlier member Johanna Rosenqvist, is a solid tribute to the struggle of the little man. A strong delivery of faith to the oppressed and a raging ripper for your right to only remain. The sound is more up-front live-centered, almost totally devoid of rhythms throughout and with a lot of anguished and hateful vocals. Full of drenching static and simple but effective walls of noise and reverberating samples which surely works sufficiently incisive. Kill your inconveniences! [press-release]

Real powerfull music! [label info]

K11 -- "The Sacred Wood" -- CD -- €12
2010 Old Europa Cafe, OECD 141
K11 (aka Pietro Riparbelli) is a very good sound-sculptor continuing the long tradition of Italian Ambient Industrial artists... This special album was recorded at the enchanting park of Monsters of Bomarzo. The park of Monsters of Bomarzo was devised by the architect Pirro Ligorio (he completed the Cathedral of Saint Peter in Rome after the death of Michelangelo and built Villa d'Este in Tivoli) on commission of Prince Pier Francesco Orsini, called Vicino, only to vent the heart broken at the death of is wife Giulia Farnese. The park was born in 1552 as "Villa of Wonders" to be the only one of it's kind in the world. Incredible but true, the Park of Monsters remained in complete oblivion till 1954 and only few people was aware about all the fantastic treasures contained within the park for over 400 years! K11 was recording the soul of this park of Monsters and Wonders and after re-working the sounds he delivers us a trip between reality and dream. Psychadelic, ritual ambient music from an other space, from an other era, from an other land... [press-release]

Liyr -- "Fragments of Dust" -- CD -- €10
2010 Rage In Eden, RAGE 72
LIYR is a French martial act born in 2008. Heavily inspired by neoclassical, bombastic percussions and industrial martial sounds Liyr creates his own characteristic atmosphere. Behind the harshness of the percussions, there is an esoteric thought about Celtic tradition and legends - LIYR is the God of Sea in Celtic myths. But the main idea is that we all live in a changing world dominated by sort of feelings like hate and love, fear and pleasure - in his music and lyrics LIYR talks about all these feelings. 10 tracks, 42 minutes, CD in digipack. Lunde, Eric -- "Mimefistofele" -- CD -- €10
2011 TraitMediaWorks, tmw030
Are you familiar with opera? Then Boito's Mefistofele ought rank right up there, despite the sickening stench of an omnipresent g*d, but the devil has the game in this one and its worth listening to "son lo spirito che nega sempre tutto". Anyway. Eric Lunde has taken the first act of this beloved opera and given it the reduplication treatment. Layered and processed, it barely sounds like the original, which was the intent. Harsh, nearly criminal assault on this beloved masterpiece of evil, sin and redemption, except that now the devil comes out on top... [label info]

Lunde, Eric -- "A World Of Hurt In The Kingdom Of God" -- CD -- €10
2011 Heart & Crossbone, HCB 035
Clock says done. Time has come for the new admonishment from Eric Lunde: An inductive sound revolutionist, a founding member of the Milwaukee avant-industrial noise squad Boy Dirt Car, and an acrimonious underground writer & musician with over 40 solo releases dating back to the mid 80's. "A World Of Hurt In The Kingdom Of God" derives its name from a series of 2-ply plastic engravings Lunde did in 2004, The original title being "A World of Hurt in the Kingdom of Gosh". It is primarily a product of the concerns Lunde still have (and expressed in his book "Prison Sex", from which the majority of the text on this album is taken from) with the latent cruelty of humans in regards to their alleged relationship with a fabricated supernatural being and how is it that religious people have to prove nothing, but the atheist ones have to prove everything. So what's there to be found in Lundes' dragnet this time regarding these issues? A dish of sober mischief noise served cold, bubonic industrial and irate sound poetry created in the detrimental corners of the mind where the proof reproduces the intimate bonds of brutality that men create between themselves. Clock says done. [press-release]

Containing a re-mastered version of the debut cassette "You Will Recover" originally released in 1991 on Nuxdorf Recordings, as well as the three track cassette "Nightmares" and three unreleased bonus tracks. Necromondo -- "s/t" -- CD -- €10
2007 Mechanoise Labs, [mn030], ltd. 525
Have you ever watched horror movies in childhood? What can be more frightening than a rotten mug of a deadman, slowly but steady striving after main hero's throat? Or stained porridge, dripping out from a broken skull... or malicious indigenes, dismembering stupid white men... or a warlock, raising up hordes from the ground to lead them on a decisive fight between good and evil? All these dreadful fantasies, realized in trash cinematograph of 70-80-ies, especially Italian (City of the Living Dead, Zombi 2, Burial Ground, Cannibal Holocaust, Inferno Dei Morti-viventi, etc.), start to leak through the acoustic system via itching sinewaves, omnious ambience and of course proper samples. The release has wonderful thematic artwork by studio STPo. Absolute must-have in a B-side horror fan's collection!

I have a pleasure to support with the name of Rage in Eden a publication that discusses Polish province and a bit decadence. It is a short essay about the past and declining relationships between what is now and what has gone in the past. It is about broken relationships between friends who unexpectedly appear in our lives once more. We are connected by one thing – where we come from. You are more than welcome to listen to the album. The album cover was designed by Lukasz Pawlak. [Requiemstudio.pl]

Phillips, Dave -- "?" -- CD -- €10
2010 Heart & Crossbone, HCB 026
Assembled between April and June 2009 as part of a therapeutic process during a period dominated by severe disturbances of loss, mental abysses and despair, "?" is the new gospel from Swiss experimentalist Dave Phillips, co-founder of grindcore legend Fear of God, a member of the sense perplexing Schimpfluch-Gruppe and the pulverizing force behind the Rudimentary Peni one-man-doom-drone worship act Dead Peni, among numerous other projects... "?" offers a 79 minutes album of field recordings oriented compositions that feature murky cello, piano and accordion parts, nocturnal voices, a vast array of concrete snippets and more resonances of existences that give Albert Aylers' "Music is the healing force of the universe" new depths and meanings. "?" sees Phillips observing and carefully dissecting his human psyche into ten intimate and innovative music pieces, confronting them with the bile and degradation of the omnipresent while deconstructing his own ravage with a binding urge to cleanse. And it's a fascinating insight to listen to... Brilliantly mastered by Rashad Becker. [press-release]

On this album, Phragments and Korinth have united into one monolithic entity, to produce a common opus. All songs are the result of collaboration of the two projects, resulting in a unique narrative experience. After three years of work, Phragments and Korinth deliver a ripe album – a great journey for the listener. ‘Imagine a hidden side of the world, a landscape of archetypes and symbols. A place where reality becomes myth and myth becomes reality. Where repressed longings lurk, waiting to be awakened. Enter the Greylands.’ [press-release]

Post Scriptvm -- "Grey Eminence" -- CD -- €12
2010 Tesco Organisation, TESCO 079
A 4th full-length offering from these masters of existential necroindustrial. Grey Eminence is a meditation on the clandestine forces laboring tirelessly to prevent humanity from achieving its ultimate spiritual goals. Eight completely focused and meticulously executed compositions akin to an emotionally stirring haunted carousel ride through the vibrant, surreal and grotesque mental imagery, netherworld of paranoid illusions, mystic transmissions, secret rituals, somber and horrific visions of a civilization in decline. The lethargic torpors of ebbing and flowing analog pulsations and textures, augmented with obscure samples, acoustic string and percussion instruments alternate with violent hailstorms of rusted scrap metal, moans of apocalyptic machinery and serpentine invocations. Mastered by Andreas Wanhmann of Fir§t Law... Founded in New York City in 1999 Post Scriptvm creates bleak electronic music spanning a variety of post-industrial genres and described by the reviewers as concertedly dreamlike, mesmerizing, claustrophobic, and disturbing. Post Scriptvm's releases possess the emotional dynamics of a manic-depressive disorder. The compositions flow from eerie, hypnotizing death ambient structures to the visceral intensity of industrial noise, invoking surreal, Kafkaesque mental imagery as well as an overwhelming anguish of metaphysical horror. Post Scriptvm released material via various labels in the USA, Italy, France and Germany. The project is best known for their releases on Jerome Nougaillons (Propergol) label Hermetique and the most recent, critically acclaimed album "Raspad", out on Tesco Organization, as well as their well-received live performances at several industrial music festivals in USA and in Europe. Predominance -- "Dark Stars Unfolding" -- 2 CD -- €14
LOKI Foundation, LOKI40
Arisen from the fields of white ashes and bathed in tears of the world's genocidal slavery Predominance started 1995 to drown in the ruins of an unconcious mind. The evolution of Gerd Zaunig's project was mystified by the leaming beauty of a silver ship and ended illuminated at the threshold to astral gates on nocturnal skies. This "Dark Stars Unfolding" is an essential journey through the mind of the south saturn delta into the polar stargate. The circle of the four symbols is closed and the work of Predominance will remain in the ungained gorge of a swelling universe... After nearly 10 years of activity and with just three regular albums in this decade Gerd Zaunig placed with Predominance one of the main pillars in the wide area of dark ambient music. The unique sound of Predominance combines dense and atmospherical soundscultures with symphonic structures, pulsating rhythms and visionary-majestic vocals. This double album now marks the final release of Predominance as the project already ended in 2003. Devided into 2 parts the Disc One: ARCHIVUM contains selected tracks from the first tape (White Ashes), the first LP (Obliteration), various compilation tracks and unreleased material. Disc Two: LIVE collects high quality live recordings from the whole period of activity and includes all the outstanding vocal tracks for what Predominance was especially known for. [press-release]

Prisoner Of Flesh -- "I" -- CD-R -- €8
1999 Soulworm Editions, Worm I
Being a debut release of Prisoner of Flesh, this album proudly opened our catalog. Other than numerous death-industrial acts emerging those days, Prisoner of Flesh stood fresh and innovative - every composition is well arranged, detailed and in a way rather unique. Very atmospheric, industrial constructions drowning in spooking ambience and overwhelming noise - without mercy or compromise. Despite the years passed it is still one of our strongest releases. Ritual Front -- "The Sun of the Dead" -- CD-R -- €7
2007 Bunkier Productions, BXIV, (ltd. 214)
New mini album of Russian combat-folk project on Polish label! Aside from four cool songs of their own (one of which is sang in Polish language), the disk contains a cover-version of a song by cult Russian cold wave band Chimera plus an instrumental track recorded by Belarussian musician Voist Angiras (M.O.B.A.S. / Pragnavit). In comparison with their debut album one will surely feel the professional growth: rich arrangements (aside from traditional guitars, keys and percussion you'll hear violin and flute parts) and doubtless improvement in sound quality.

RLW -- "Tonlose Lieder" -- CD -- €10
2004 PARA disc, PACD-013
After the recent re-issues of the old PD work, it's now time to fast forward in music history and take a closer look at the missing link of disbanding P16.D4 and the first solo works of RLW. Fast forward to 1990. This is the time when the old techniques of tape-splicing, cheap four track records and such like was replaced by cheap samplers and computer interfaces (midi to control sequences), being an option for everyone. Before this all settled down into RLW's first CD 'Acht' (1992), he experimented with a lot of ideas, using the newly acquired techniques. The abrassive side of P16.D4 became more subtle, more dynamic and at the same time it was also reduced in sound and approach. No less than twenty-two pieces from the sketchbook are to be found on this CD, and each of them is described in the booklet. Scratching records is for instance a main feature, like was done on the SLP project, but it involves also organ like sounds, sterile factory settings found inside the sampler and much more. In some cases we get the raw version of a piece that ended up on 'Acht', but the majority is unheard. Whereas on the later solo records by RLW it's hard to recognize the original input, we can hear on this CD him freely improvising around with instruments, sampling them etc. Of course not every fragment is great, but it would not be right to say that this album is only for those with a keen ear on history. It bears the collage-like style of P16.D4 with the latter RLW style, but in all its fragmented style it sounds, still after all these years, like a fresh album. Only to be compared, I think, with P16.D4's 'Tionchor' album. A collection of nice short pieces, that make more sense when heard they are grouped together. [FdW, Vital Weekly]

Stratvm Terror -- "Pain Implantations" -- CD -- €12
1998/2009 Old Europa Cafe, OECD118
Formed by aggression and pain the aptly titled CD 'Pain Implantation' is probably a good description of the music, given the focus of the approach. Sparse and suffocating atmospheres float forth while distorted sicken tones are injected. The opening track lulls the listener into a false sense of relaxation before the distorted frequencies leap out to reek havoc on the listeners cerebral area. The music throughout the disc pounds on your skull without mercy and then slows down before the next eruption, ripping through your ears jamming them with feedback and beats tearing the mind apart. Every track has a nerve grating, tympanic membrane agitating attraction, sonically careens off of the interior fortress of the body... Stratvm Terror is Peter Andersson of Raison d'etre, Necrophorus, Bocksholm, Atomine Elektrine etc. and Tobias Larsson of Ocean Chief. 'Pain Implantations' were originally released in 1998 on Malignant Records as the second CD album release of the band. This re-release from Old Europa Cafe, totally refurbished from the original master and added with two more songs, is presented with complete new artwork. [press-release]

Industrial / Ritual / Drone. Through an elemental darkly…In the fall of 2005 Z’EV began dipping deep into his archives and selecting recordings to produce ‘sum things / a possible form for cold dark matter’, a project reflecting his take on the ‘dark ambience’ genre. Composed between December 2005 and March 2006, these 6 pieces endeavour to transport the listener deep into their long forgotten memories of the primal forces at the dawn of creation. Each piece is based on a single sound source. Absolutely no effects of any kind, not even equalization, were applied to the source recordings. Hear then, the state of the art in elemental musics.
