CONDANNA is an original experiment through alchemical audio activities characterized by an obsessive and introspective research of sound. 50 minutes to discover the circular subconscious, the dark soul, there finding a deep penetration in the wound of silence: this is “….e i vermi ameranno la mia carne”, the CONDANNA debut cd. Everything has been programmed with an old “Roland” sequencer and all sounds come from synths and samplers, without additional pc editing or mastering. This first work is an attempt to create a personal manifesto able to transmit a complete lack of expression. A coma of the soul, a coma of the soul born from a hidden anger in the flesh, existential bruising eternally present. In 2005 the live performance began, outlined by a sound complex and eclectic; at the heart of the live performance is a component of improvisation with the use of instruments that allow CONDANNA to interact with his state of mind and his instinct at the same time, creating a greater sense of truth to the sounds played live. The grand master of black ambience returns with this new missive from beyond the chthonic depths. Featuring three extended descents into jet-black drift, funereal chamber music, monstrous metallic noise, booming ritualistic percussion, slit-throat recitations of formless horror, and further abyssal abominations... Fragments From The Aethyr presents a triptych of long, sprawling pieces that descend through dark layers of cinematic sonic horror. The music shifts between violin-led passages of pitch-black, dissonant chamber music backed by booming kettledrums and traces of modern music composition and the rotting exhalations of the dead, to blasts of crushing shapeless doom where huge metallic chords thunder in the deep, sending tremors of doom-laden dronemetal rumbling through the strata of Funerary Call's demonic industrial nightmares. The sound of Fragments sometimes resembles a Bela Bartok piece drifting through a fog of black-mass ambience and the murmerings of the long dead, the sound imbued with a deep ominous feel but also glowing with a mysterious dark beauty as it builds to a crescendo of black majestic power, as on the nearly twenty minute centrepiece of the album "Fragments"... There are noisy elements that appear here that threaten to push the music into ear-destroying industrial cacophony at times, but even when the sound is at it's most chaotic, it's held together by the searing melodies of the stringed instruments, tethering the plumes of black industrial noise to the graveyard ambience that soaks deep into the surface of the album... First created in 1994, Funerary Call has established itself as one of the premier purveyors of archaic black atmospheres. With Nightside Emanations, Funerary Call presents his most organic and purely ritual experiences... 8 tracks that spiral into darkness, led by the ceremonial fire rite of the opening track, then descending into even blacker, more ominous realms as the CD progresses. Extended pieces of opaque ambience are augmented by slow, foreboding, tribal percussion and sedated vocal incantations, full of ancient mysticism and creeping miasma. Material used in the recording process ranged from found objects such as rocks, scrap metal, antlers and bones, to an assortment of ritual implements; chimes, bells, gongs, rattles and kangling. Per Flagellum Sanguemque, Tenebras Veneramus. Roughly translated, with blood and whip, we worship the dark. This is the latest collection of atrocities from Gnaw Their Tongues, an eight song investigation into the rites and rituals that emerge from the copper-scented frenzy of the serial killer, the obsessive acts of death worship enacted by those that live on the edge of abyss, the limits of experience sought by black cults. The sound is, as always, immensely heavy, with fractured drums and tunderous tympani skins reverberating within a maelstrom of seething black doom, screeching classical strings, horns, piano, and some of the most vomitous vocals imagineable. However, Per Flagellum Sanguemque is marked by the most frenetic percussive attack that we have heard from Gnaw Their Tongues, with volleys of chaotic drumming, fractured blasts, and maniacally complex patterns that sometimes seem to border on free-jazz drumming... Grunt -- "Long Lasting Happiness" -- CD -- €10
2012 Industrial Recollections
This CD is not an album, although it could have been. Lets look back to mid 2000's before "Seer Of Decay" album and many of these recordings are showing the direction taken on that album. Long Lasting Happeness session originally published as split tape with Prurient (Freak Animal) that has been out of stock for years. Two tracks "Never Wake Up" and "Streets of Decadence" recorded around same time basically belonging to same session of sounds have remained unreleased for all these years waiting for one compilation to be out which probably never will. Further 4 tracks are alternative version of "Street of Decadence" which made it to Nihilistic Paraphilia 1. and thematically those releases belong to the same re-issue. "Caught (original version)" from same disc shows early version of raw PE style later adjusted further on split with Taint. "Paid Victims Of Modern World Fetishes" and "MaleClit" are songs only released in ltd to 50 copies Nihilistic Paraphialia vol. 2! "Nihilistic Paraphilia" compilations were Japanese tour releases made in tiny CDR editions sold in Grunt tours 2005 and 2008. This CD compiles some of the best materials of this era of Grunt, filled with piercing feedback, sharp and crispy ear-slashing metal scrap noises, abundance of vocals and very song oriented approach as opposed to "plain noise" pieces. 3rd CD from the acclaimed dark ambient collaboration between Andrea Marutti (Amon, Never Known, among others) and Giuseppe Verticchio (Nimh). Spread out over two CDs and totaling over 100 minutes, there’s a lot to absorb here; organic, textural ambience that’s murky and abstract, uncurling like tendrils of smoke before coalescing into a simulacrum of shadowy figures, to turbulent, more immersive post industrial sounds that prowl the depths of subterranean caverns and forgotten, still radioactive ruins. At its core, this is dark ambient, but with its roughly edged, mildly corrosive machine edges and cascading factory whir, Hall of Mirrors moves into a much more active and cerebral sonic realm. Features contributions from Vestigial, New Risen Throne, and Pietro Riparbelli/ K11, among others. 2 discs in 6 panel eco-wallet, with 4 tracks on one disc, and one 45 minute track on the second. Illusion of Safety intrepidly charts the terra incognita where sound, silence, noise and music intersect. Using conventional instruments, sound generating devices and random objects, IOS hews sound sculptures that deliberately provoke, mesmerize and even affront listeners. 'In Opposition to our Acceleration' the latest offering from this project is a provocative 74 minute blend of ambient & improv. Using electronic synthesis, computer manipulation, musical references, manipulated instruments, amplified objects and subtle use of location recordings these primarily live pieces provide ambience as the term is truly defined - 'the distinctive atmosphere surrounding or suffusing person, place or thing'. This is the 14th full length IOS CD release beginning with 'Historical' (Staalplaat, 1991). Their work is hard to classify, often being called schizophrenic, due to the shifting nature of each composition, release & performance. This CD however contains no unwelcome surprise attacks, no abrupt shifts in character, and no abrasive passages. Gentle textures, subtle ambience & found sounds that may be described as uneasy beauty permeate these 8 unreleased live tracks (from 1996, 1997, 2001), and single studio composition 'Stillpoint' (2001), as featured on the Wiretapper 7 CD... Kassel Jaeger lives and works in Paris. He’s a member of the GRM (Groupe de Recherches Musicales). ‘algae’ is the follow-up of ‘aerae’ (senufo edition # five) and continues the author’s research on possible intersections of instrumental improvisations and field recordings. Focused at the same time on microphone placement and elaboration of metastable sound states, ‘algae’ develops series of interlacing soundwaves which evolve like tidal movements and leave, here and there, inanimate organisms that sediment and dry. 3rd full length release from this acclaimed Martin Bladh (IRM) project (in conjunction with Magnus Lindh), following 2002's New Skin CD and 2006's double CD Journal Noir/Lithium Path, both on Cold Meat Industry. Like previous works, Rothko Field is a highly charged and visceral auditory experience... mind bending and turbulent sonic explorations that are grainy and tense, where uneasy frequencies intersect with caustic drones, infected, insectile buzz, swelling drifts, and intense, slow motion percussion driven sludgery. Further comparison reveals Rothko Field to be less schizophrenic, less challenging, and more structured than in the past, coming off as both spacious and yet suffocatingly claustrophobic (and ultimately closer in style to IRM), suggestive of a spiral downwards into mental decay and degradation, and further enhanced by Martin's uniquely distressed and provocative vocalizations. 9 tracks total, broken into two "mirrored parts", with track 5, "Void" acting as the actual mirror itself. In digipak, with full color 24page booklet. Not to detract from previous releases, but this is easily the best Skin Area work to date, and a must for all things Martin Bladh! [press-release]

SVALBARD was started as an ambient one-man project in 2006. It’s music was based on the mixture of Dark Ambient and Neoclassic. During the winter of 2007 the first demo titled ‘Stille’ was recorded and soon SVALBARD received the invitation to take part in the international fest „Crivia Aeterna“. After the band’s first performance it’s conception was reworked and the following year SVALBARD performed their new program together with the new member [K.S.] who since then has become responsible for the lyrics of the project. After this performance the band received their first contract with „Der Angriff“ (subdivision of Russian label „Indiestate“) and released their first EP ‘Treue Vaterland Jugend’. During spring and the summer of 2009 SVALBARD was working on their first LP ‘Heimkunft’ that was released on the German „Lichterklang“ label in 2010 and gained a lot of respect from fans and media worldwide. 2012 now sees the release of the second fulltime album entitled „Der letzte Blick zuruck“ again on Lichterklang, strengthening their songwriting skills and sharpening SVALBARD’s individual character as that, being the perfect blend of pathetic dance hymns and military pop appeal combined with the depth of russian melancholy and new gained folkloristic influences. Continuation of the series of highly conceptual recordings. The high concept of this recording is: variety melting to the state of sameness, first step. These are low quality field (mostly city) recordings made on a cassette recorder using tapes of the lowest possible quality. Afterwards, the recordings from several cassettes were mixed through re-recording using "twisting" commutation (that's when instead of using mixing desk one uses direct twisting pairs of cabels with sound sources). This novel brought fame to Goethe, none of the books of that time were read that much by the contemporaries as this novel. The circulation of the novel cased an epidemy of following suicides in Europe, which was later called the Werther effect. ‘My Long Accumulating Discontent’ is the fourth and certainly the strangest recording from Andrew Liles. This CD is in places more ‘melodic’ than Liles’ previous output and its 17 tracks cover a wide musical territory. Some songs are short and harmonious, other pieces are longer, subtle and contemplative with drifting delicate drones. In places the CD is truly bizarre and defies all conventions. The album doesn’t fit easily into any definable bracket and we feel this oddity belongs in a class all of its own. Mathias Josefson is a sound-artist from Stockholm, Sweden, and currently attending the royal university college of fine arts. His main project is Moljebka Pvlse, which is an experimental music group that works with both electronic and acoustic instruments, as well as with field recordings and found sounds. What comes out is hypnotic and meditative soundscapes. Over the years Moljebka Pvlse has performed live in Canada, Finland, France, The Netherlands, Slovenia, Sweden and the U.S. Mathias has, mainly as Moljebka Pvlse, released several albums on many different labels, such as Cold Meat Industry, Eibon Records and his own Isoramara label. Some Place Else is proud to release the new album by Moljebka Pvlse, entitled Sadalsuud. For this album, Mathias collaborated with a number of his colleagues who provided him various source sounds to work with. The name Sadalsuud refers to a star of the same name in the constellation of Aquarius. The name comes from an Arabic phrase meaning "the luckiest of them all". Nevertheless the album is rather earthy-sounding, yet mystical and surreal, almost claustrophobic at times. The sound is vaguely reminiscent of some works by Nurse With Wound, Maeror Tri or The Hafler Trio, but carries the trademark Moljebka Pvlse feel. An unsuspecting pre-listener described Sadalsuud as "a visit to a supposedly haunted house, though only once you've entered the house you begin to grasp the real meaning of haunting." [press-release]
