CD-R/CD

21 Gramms -- "Water – Membrane" -- CD -- €10
2012 Greytone, Grey009
With many qualitative independent CDr, Tape, eps productions, 21 GRAMMS garnered so much praise from so many quarters in the past years. “Water – Membrane” is the second Poland’s 21 GRAMMS pro-CD album. Seven extended pieces of sublime orchestral dark natural ambient, generated a truly wonderful album. “Water – membrane” sounds like a ”last hope” inner movement into the most unknown decadences of the soul. Discouraging, shining, naturally isolationist. [label info]

Ab Intra -- "Supremus" -- CD -- €10
2012 Zoharum, ZOHAR 026-2
After 4 years since the last release, AB INTRA returns with a new album. "Supremus" is almost an hour of music placed in the widely-understood dark ambient genre. The album reflects a much more mature image of the artist who consciously creates a world of his own sound and vision. The idea behind the album is the trial of creating an inner feeling, or impression, which is superior to others (Supremus comes from Latin and it means the highest, definite, dominant) which is in fact the effect of tuning one's mind and stepping outside the conditioned structures. It is a trial of placing consciousness in the sphere of pure sensations where the word becomes dominated by the sound, surrounded by the feeling, and the symbol and vision become the carrier of new meanings. Astrowind -- "Kaidanovsky" -- CD -- €10
2012 Greytone, Grey010
Astrowind’ Sound designer from Latvia Kriipis Tulo creates an amazing, deeply emotional and romantic music with help of vintage analog synthesizers and open-reel tape recorder. There is a feel of acroamatic escapism, there are these huge chords of hissing analogue synthesizers and you can even find this special kind of Slavonian melancholia (or Baltic, respectively) people use to rave about. Astrowind bring up a lot of references in their beautiful and, well, obsolete music. Astrowind Project got the harmonies and the sound to become one of the most interesting Baltic acts to emerge from a scene rich of innovative musicians (Muschraum, Joel Tammik, Selffish, to name just the most obvious)... This first Astrowind pro-CD album is a tribute to Aleksander Kaidanovsky, worldwide well known and seminal russian actor and film director. The album consists is eight tracks filled with mind-floating contructions and de-contructions that will bring the listener to a wider dimension. ”Kaidanovsky” sounds like an oppressive, yet captivating, music experience surfing from a lysergic and mutant electronic textures to a degraded samples and hypnotic voices of the universe. A really amazing and impressive album for one of the most talented artist coming from baltic area. [press-release]

Atrium Carceri -- "Reliquiae" -- CD -- €13
2012 Cold Meat Industry, cmi212
Atrium Carceri - Reliquiae sends the listener careening through the dim mists of time immemorial. There are asylums, prison halls and dark corridors in the twisted nether where our current illusion was created by our former slaves - now transformed to cruel masters by the Council of Twelve. Through the citadels of the Lost God, Where the rejuvenation of the collective soul has become brainwashing of the endless hordes that await his return with bubbling glee. This journey is one not soon forgotten, as the churning cogs of the old city dig ever deeper into humanity's clandestine past. A sickly dull thud of stone on flesh is all that interrupts the ceaseless moanings and burrowings of the old city of our past glories. That and the incessant clamour of machines beyond count. The yearning for a way out of the illusion leads us to the top of the thousand steps of obsidian, where the processing plants never stop the injection of false hope to the masses of divided consciousness. A memory springs unbidden to my wandering mind: A black worm eats at the heart of the sun... Reliquiae is a syringe filled with the deepest of sounds, with details so carefully perfected and indeed profound that it will make you listen to the album again and again, falling deeper and deeper into the void of the awakened. Spanning 19 tracks this is one epic release that tells a tale revolving around the relics that are the basis of our enslavement. It truly must be heard to be fathomed. [press-release]

Brown, Hannis -- "Severe Insomnia" -- CD -- €10
2011 Lumberton Trading Company, LUMB015, (ltd. 500)
The second album by this NYC-based composer/songwriter/improviser/electro-acoustic artist, whose eleven pieces here not only absorb the free jazz of his beloved Charles Mingus but also the micro-tonal orchestral work of Ligeti and Penderecki, and Edgar Varese's forays into spatial electro-acoustic soundworlds of a highly personal and some might argue traumatic disposition. As with the debut, Oh Ee Ah, Hannis Brown's music winds itself around those contours impossible to pin down to any one thing beyond that line between insanity and genius. [press-release]

Bymel, Ofer & Büttner, Gregory -- "Ripsnorter" -- CD-R -- €8
2012 Observatoire, obs * э | instrument 031, (ltd. 250)
Collaboration of Israel drummer and experimentalist Ofer Bymel with German sound artist Gregory Büttner. The album contains two long improvisations, the first recorded in Gastatelier Fleetinsel (where Ofer got an artist residency for one month) and the second recorded live at "Blurred Edges" Festival in 2010 in Hamburg. There with Ofer breathes through his instrument and handles it with a lot of extended techniques; Gregory plays his sounds using a laptop through small loudspeakers which he prepares or plays with resonating objects. As a result the record gives an impression of a perfect melting of acoustic and electronic sounds. [label info]

Cyclotimia -- "E$chaton" -- CD -- €10
2004/2005 Stateart, AVANT009
2nd full-length Cyclotimia album after "Wasteland" originally released in Russia by Irond label and then reissued in Germany by Stateart. "'Eschaton' is that electronic music which is impossible to label so easy. This is obviously nor industrial, nor EBM, nor darkwave, nor dark ambient, although some elements of the above mentioned styles are present here. It's clear only that this is very original and ultra-modern! A fusion of Skinny Puppy and Recoil, early Download, late Coil, instrumental works of Haujobb or Frontline Assembly... You can also hear the Pope himself speaking on this record!..." [Irond]

Dahlia's Tear -- "Dreamsphere" -- CD -- €13
2012 Cold Meat Industry, cmi207
Have you ever repeated the same nightmare time after time after time? Three years after the critically acclaimed release of, "Under Seven Skies", Dahlia's Tear delivers a new album. "Dreamsphere" conjures visions from the depths of elusive, eerie dreams. It enables your mind to step out of reality, into haunted spheres. This introspective work, is an enigmatic dark ambient-industrial recording with compositions; reflecting a light starved-timeless journey. The listener will experience bleak emptiness of depression. The dark corridors of your mind will release your fears and anxiety as it enters the hypnagogic phase. The subconscious will unfold into the obscure unknown, experiencing ominous desolation and whispering echoes of distant nocturnal voices. The droning sound of ancient machines and ghostly clicks of clock gears provide a prophetic lullaby to your personal dream sphere. "Dreamsphere" provides dark soundscapes, manipulated field recordings and narrative speeches combined with cold lush strings and raw pad layers. A world detached from reality... Inviting the listener to their personal nightmare with Dahlia's Tear! [press-release]

Das Ruckgrat Der Nacht –- "Synthetische Dunkelheit" -- CD-R -- €7
2005 Tosom, TOSOM 013, (ltd. 150)
First release by this german project. The album is full of fantastic soundscapes and drones, some are mysterious and deep, but also with beautiful moments. A great trip through synthetic darkness. [label info] DVD-box with an insert.

Ekca Liena -- "Light Procession" -- CD-R -- €9
2012 Pocket Fields, PF025, (ltd. 100)
Daniel W J Mackenzie is perhaps best known for his work as Ekca Liena, a droning guitar and electronic mesh of ambience, electronica and hints of doom. This alias has carved it’s place in the UK ambient underground. In addition, Daniel also records and performs with psychedelic drone outfit Plurals and even have collaboration with Nadja’s Aidan Baker due. Ekca Liena`s music contains a variable configuration of ambient, drone, post-rock, doom, noise and electronica. There is also a psychedelic and ritual element at times. Daniel Mackenzie is making music since his mid-teens and when Daniel hit seventeen he think it got a bit more serious. This combined with a continuing desire to transpose emotions and experiences (usually of the negative, melancholic kind) and things far more abstract into art are the roots of it... “Light Procession” is new album recorded last winter and now released in a limited edition of 100 copies in special hand-made packaging with foto inserts inside. Here we have excellent mash-up of ambient, post rock, drone, drum tribal and eletronica. [press-release]

Filivs Macrocosmi & Charadriiform -- "Ex Vivo" -- CD -- €9
2012 A5 Production, AP-08 / OMS Records, OMSCD04, (ltd. 500)
One long collaborative ambient/drone track of two Ukrainian projects. "Since the beginning of time mankind has been fascinated by Space. Few has not dreamed of going to the Moon, or to become an astronaut and leave his mark on Mars, while being a child. In 1961, the technical genius of Soviet scientists proved that man can master the cosmos. But how many people think about the fact that in addition to the celebrations, glory and indescribable feelings, a flight beyond Earth may bring pain, suffering, madness? In our work Ex Vivo (Lat. "from life"), we would like to reveal all the faces of flights, which are not talked about - loneliness, isolation from the usual things, the incredible closeness of death and an endless cold abyss of the universe, which stares at astronaut. We have tried to convey and express the feelings that a person experiences at start of the machine and to the point where he can no longer distinguish the picture generated by his imagination from reality. The tranquility that ends the album in any case should not be understood as an obituary. It is rather a hymn of praise to the birth of a man who understood and took for himself a place that was defined for him by the universe." [press-release]

Garet, Richard -- "Silver" -- CD -- €10
2012 Observatoire, obs * 033, (ltd. 300)
Richard Garet's new work ‘Silver’ unfolds throughout four tracks over the hour period with an intriguing ripple of textures and electronic sounds carefully crafted, weighed, and measured. The explicit essence of Richard's records is confirmed by a skillfully interwoven palette of sounds such as field recordings, and material that emerges from studio processes, as well as, Garet's affinity for timber, pitch, and consequential tones. The foundation remains within the investigation of brittle material, malleability, and in drawing attention to focused listening, fluctuating connections, and sonic relationships. One may say that 'Silver' finds balance between spontaneous bursts from coil signals and accurate processing, between materiality and phenomena, arriving to a carefully composed and harmonious state... Hoarfrost -- "Puppets of the Divine Coroner" -- CD -- €10
2011 Zoharum, ZOHAR 025-2
Who is the man nowadays? A cogwheel in a machine, which he built by himself? A prisoner of a corporation – a modern labor camp? A hostage of a development, which has to proceed faster, faster and faster? A slave of money? A victim of his own ambitions? A castaway in a city of human zombies? A resident of a big cemetery, where he entombed his free will? A puppet? But in whose hands? „Puppets of the divine coroner” is a reverie about the man, who wanted to control the world but he fell into the trap and became a prisoner of the reality, created by himself. Is there a chance for an escape from the point he reach? [press-release]

Hoshino, Takanobu -- "A Sampling + 5" -- CD-R -- €7
2012 Observatoire, obs * (л65) 034, (ltd. 65)
Three similar ways to the one minimalistic entire. This solo work of Takanobu Hoshino lasts about 50 minutes. Three tracks draw attention to transient configurations without special focus to field recordings details, sampling or distant background. And behind all this is the constant landscape or idyll harmony of author’s composition. Mastering by D Shapovalov. [label info]

Hybryds -- "Soundtrack For The Antwerp Zoo Aquarium" -- CD -- €10
1995/2011 Zoharum, ZOHAR 022-2
The reissue of a long-deleted classic album by this legendary Belgian project. 'Soundtrack for the Antwerp Zoo Aquarium' is an unusual album, even in comparison with other Hybryds works. It was created especially for the 150th anniversary of the Antwerp Zoo. Music composed by Sandy and Hermann (of Ah-Cama Sotz) was woven in between the sounds of dolphins, killer whales and the noise of the underwater world. The Zoo director wrote the following in the preface: "Soundtrack for the Antwerp Zoo Aquarium" is a musical journey of the similar stature as "20 000 Leagues Under the Sea" by Julius Verne. Let it be the best recommendation for those who haven't had a chance to get to know to one of the best and most interesting albums in the Hybryds discography. [press-release]

Inner Vision Laboratory -- "Perpetua" -- CD -- €10
2012 Zoharum, ZOHAR 028-2
The focal point of the album is the condition of mankind entangled in the cycle of creation, stagnation and destruction. Creation is an idealistic picture, it dwells in an idea of fiat lux et facta est lux. It is a blueprint for the musical narrative that is comprised of unrestricted admiration of life, of order that is mankind’s objective, and ultimately of conflict which is the most inherent human condition. In the war of mankind against itself the ideals permeating creation become obscure and only annihilation brings forth a new illusion – a promise of another beginning. The ubiquitous illusion is an all-encompassing device that folds these non-recordable events into a cycle. It is channeled in the unifying wave of music of Karol Skrzypiec – an artist more complete, yet still debating the finality of his form of communication. Syntactically, the latest release of INNER VISION LABORATORY is an effect of thoughtful construction. Perpetua is an unconventional harmonious image which draws also from beyond of the repertoire typically associated with the instrumentarium characteristic of its genre, the accord of the album’s narration, however, is not lost. Jerman, Jeph -- "For Henry F. Farny 1904" -- CD -- €10
2011 TraitMediaWorks, tmw031
From one of the world's finest practitioners of field recording, audio damage, and improvised sound, Jeph Jerman's CD is a wonder of found sound. One single strand of abandoned Arizonian telephone wire is tapped into to generate an amazing array of discordance, frequencies, reverberation. Wind and wire. The desert is better with headphones. Highly recommended! [label info]

Kurbonsho -- "Vahan Songs" -- CD -- €12
2011 Chernaya Zemlya, CZ:a, (ltd. 700)
The disc contains unique ethnographic field recordings made by Andrey Komarov (Vishudha Kali), during an expedition to the Pamirs in 2004. One of the goals of this expedition was to study the musical traditions of the Pamir highlands. Here he discovered the most outstanding poet and musician, Kurbonsho. The village in which he lived is a wild place on Vakhania (Afghan gap) with no electricity and extremely difficult access. Although local residents claimed that he was unlikely to agree to sing, Andrey still managed to record his primordial folklore music, which is represented on this disc. Kurbonsho died in 2008. Beautiful lyrical melodies (sung in Devanagari) with smooth transitions and flowing vocals - the music is clear and unprepared for the European organic ear. Ltd x 700 copies in a 20-page A5 digibook. La Casa, Eric -- "Secousses Panoramiques" -- 3"CD -- €8
2006 Hibari Music, hibari-07

Lunde, Eric -- "Candyhole" -- CD -- €10

Lunde, Eric (aka Trait) -- "Inspirationals" -- CD -- €10
1988/2009 Industrial Recollections
Back in 1988 Arbeit Group label released obscure industrial-noise release by project called TRAIT. A-side of the tape includes several different arrangement for inspiration in battle. B-side included several of those arrangements combined together for temporary unified action. 45 minutes of most primitive analogue destruction, leaving no place for easylistening or relaxing moments. Even with the atmopheric and dark moment, sound is extremely decayed and coarse sound of tape loops, manipulation and electronics which transforms it to difficult industrial-noise. Years after the original release, personnel behind it has been officially declassified. Trait is one of the most vicious works of Eric Lunde, known for 80's masterpieces under his own name and legendary industrial group Boy Dirt Car. Releases on V2 archief, RRR, AWB, Powertech Industries. "Inspirationals" is carefully reflecting the original tape as accurately as possible. Material is transferred from original master tapes to CD by artist himself, leaving everything 100% as is. There is 2 long pieces (A and B side) with no mastering, no cleaning up, no boosting. Artwork is faithful to the original release, replicating the it as accurate as possible. This is the first release by Industrial Recollections label, aimed for re-issuing sold out pe/industrial/noise releases for fanatical audience. [press-release]

Lunde, Eric -- "Mimefistofele" -- CD -- €10
2011 TraitMediaWorks, tmw030
Are you familiar with opera? Then Boito's Mefistofele ought rank right up there, despite the sickening stench of an omnipresent g*d, but the devil has the game in this one and its worth listening to "son lo spirito che nega sempre tutto". Anyway. Eric Lunde has taken the first act of this beloved opera and given it the reduplication treatment. Layered and processed, it barely sounds like the original, which was the intent. Harsh, nearly criminal assault on this beloved masterpiece of evil, sin and redemption, except that now the devil comes out on top... [label info]

Marchoff, Marek X. & MJ Caroline Rider -- "Voxfields" -- CD -- €10
2011 Zoharum, IYHHH 005-02, (ltd. 444)
Marek Marchoff - the brain and the only permanent member behind DIFFERENT STATE project is a very creative man. He works a lot and the effects always amaze the listeners. Almost 20 years of experience in creating experimental and industrial sounds has left a stamp on his works. Without copying his own ideas, he is still searching, discovering new sounds and taking various initiatives. Together with MJ Caroline, he created his first field recording album. It's not a typical album for this kind. Marchoff treated field recordings as a palette of sounds by means of which he built a sonic horror story placed somewhere in Tilden fortress where rhythms are composed of footsteps, beats, reverberations of basements where only in the background life is throbbing and somewhere from the distance the moaning of war sirens can be heard. "Voxfields" is released as a fifth part of our ongoing IYHHH series. We are sure that it will be a stand-out position in this collection that serves a purpose of presenting lesser-known albums or side-projects. But, what seems to be obvious, the album is an excellent position in its own right and can compete with other recordings in this field and beyond. [press-release]

Meirino, Francisco -- "A While and Awhile" -- CD-R -- €8
2012 Observatoire, obs * 036, (ltd. 100)
This new solo album by Francisco Meirino might at first look like a fairly short 9 tracks ride but it immediately attracts attention and the need for concentration by alternating, with various degrees, intensity, dynamics and volume. This assemblage of endless changes with the obvious hissing sound of reel-to-reel motors, the brutal voltage discharges of dying equipments, brings warmth and focus on the other important aspect of this detailed audio work... the threat of an unknown sonic language. Recorded using computer, reel-to-reel tape recorders, analog synth, field recorder, various home-made electronics, piezo transducers, radio scanner and electro-magnetic sensors. [label info]

Mystified -- "Passing Through the Outer Gates" -- CD -- €10
2010 First Fallen Star, ffs005, (ltd. 500)
Through the end of all things is a new beginning found! The Eulogy Series challenges musicians to create the soundtrack to nothing less than their own death, transition, and afterlife, as they see it in their own mind and in accordance with their personal beliefs - a task found by many to be emotionally monumental and intensely difficult! Well-known for short and mid-length releases on innumerable record labels around the world, Thomas Park (Mystified) has met this challenge by creating a full-length album that is worlds apart from his previous releases in both maturity and complexity, and in doing so has opened a new chapter in his own history as a musician. Having collaborated in the past with artists such as Robin Storey (of Rapoon) and Nigel Ayers (of Nocturnal Emissions), and possessing DJ skills worthy of note in Spin Magazine (11/2000), there was no question as to whether or not the potential for such a personal album existed; only through what form it would be birthed! As his body dies and his soul embarks on a timeless journey through an increasingly strange series of gates toward a place of final rest, we find that Thomas` aural vision is crafted with not only spiritual transcendence of this physical world, but also with transcendence of the narrow genres typically used to classify musicians. Ambient and dark ambient soundscapes alike are deftly populated by neo-classical elements, occasionally with an experimental twist! There are no comparisons to other musicians or albums, as this album and the journey within are distinctly those of Mystified! Dare you join Thomas on his spiritual journey? Or do you fear to leave this world behind?.. Mystified`s "Passing Through the Outer Gates" is presented in an A5 digipak with silver foil-embossed lettering and a specially die-cut cover whose coffin-shaped hole reveals only a hint of the true album cover artwork underneath! Featuring David Demaret`s "Burning Souls" painting, with additional graphics and layout by Eclipse Media. Music mastered by Frederic Arbour for Cyclic Law Mastering. [press-release]

Orryelle Defenestrate-Bascule & The HermAphroditic ChAOrder of the SILVER DUSK -- "156=Musick=Babalon=Kaos" -- CD -- €10
2011 Zoharum, ZOHAR 019-2
Esoterick Ambient, Shamanic Ritual Musick. Orryelle Defenestrate-Bascule - the traveller, shaman, sound alchemist + 33 musicians (The HermAphroditic ChAOrder of the SILVER DUSK). 79 minutes of alchemic sound that will put you in a trance. Close to Psychic TV ('Themes' era), Hybryds, The Moon Lay Hidden Beneath a Cloud, Endvra, Exotoendo... The Silver Dusk's 156 = Musick Project is an experiment of Process: Magickal Musick was recorded by members of The HermAphroditic ChAOrder of the SILVER DUSK - usually in ritual context or with invocational intent - then posted on CD to other member/s in another country for them to add more layers to. This continued progressively until completion. The style of music ranges from neoclassical ambient orchestral multi-instrumental corroborations and layered electronic experimentations to simple primal ritual corroborees with sticks and bells and harmonious voices around a fire by the Hekate Tree. Dedicated to John Balance and Peter Christopherson with gratitude and inspiration... Standard edition in a digipak with a set of cards. [label info]

Oxyd -- "Liveforms" -- CD -- €10
2012 Aliens Production, AP 26 / Signifier, sig005, (ltd. 333)
You didn't have to wait very long for the first joint collaboration between record labels Aliens Production (Slovakia) and Signifier (USA). Oxyd follows up their 2009 release, Astral Border, with Liveforms, a rare recording of live performances that showcase this talented duo's ability to drift somewhere out in the darkest waters of ambient and IDM. Oxyd, a side project from the members of Disharmony (Tympanik Audio / Aliens Production), delivers dark tones and mysterious twists that balance seamlessly to create hypnotic sequences and atmospheric soundscapes that surge beyond the typical industrial voyage. Featuring several unreleased tracks along with songs selected to elicit a new emotion around every corner. [press-release]

Panic Bedroom -- "Beasts of the End Times" -- CD -- €10
2011 self-releaded, CC 001
"Beasts of the End Times" - first album of polish industrial/noise duo Panic Bedroom. Panic Bedroom was founded in 2008 in Wroclaw on Karol Ilow’s initiative. At the beginning he operates alone dealing with sound synthesis, composition as well as field-recording. In 2009, in the role of lead singer Szymon Borodziuk joins the project. Since then, Panic Bedroom acts as a duo. The music explored by Panic Bedroom are low, pulsating frequencies, mechanical loops, alarm sirens, unsetlling drones, ambient textures and the howl of machines. All that plus a large pinch of noise. Subjects that Panic Bedroom broaches are the collapse of Western civilizations, meltdown and reversal of their moral values??, human focus on consumption and above all, global domination and enslavement of humanity straight from Orwell books. Panic Bedroom warns against dark vision of the future, its transmission is the call for awakening for the dormant masses, to open their closed eyes. 'Beasts of the End Times' is the band's debut release. Apart from the two band members, sonic contributions were made by DVJ Tomasz Mniamos, known from S.A.D. and Acid TV, and Marcin Kepa, who added guitar parts to the mix. [press-release]

Rapoon -- "Disappeared Redux" -- CD -- €10
2012 Zoharum, ZOHAR 029-2
Zoharum welcomes Rapoon to its rooster. We are honoured to present the new album by the legendary avant-garde project. Robin Storey, the man behind the moniker, has been creating music incessantly for more than 3 decades and is responsible for inspiring legions of other artists with his music released together with Zoviet France and then with Rapoon, New Cult of the Sun Moon, Hand & Slim, and also under his own name. With almost 50 releases under his belt, Rapoon is a household name in the ambient world. 'Disappeared' is not entirely new album. It was first released in 2010 as a download and as an extremely limited CDR edition. Now it has been remixed and partly re-recorded especially for this Zoharum release totalling to 72 minutes (the original album was 7 minutes shorter). Hence the title, "Disappeared Redux"... In its author's words: "This album is a continuation of recurring themes that have been interwoven into the entire recorded output of rapoon. Oblique and transitory the little stories and spoken words form connections across time and space. This is about those who disappear in strange circumstances and those who just disappear. The passage of time and change. Ghosts from the past and ghosts from the future." [press-release]

RLW -- "The Pleasure Of Burning Down Churches" -- CD -- €10
2007 Black Rose Recordings, BRCD 07-1009
The title of the cd dates back to the mid 90s when I was travelling around Vietnam. One of the most impressive things there was meeting an American veteran soldier who had returned to the places of former glory. He was talking about the churches he bombed during the War, (high buildings are the best targets), with great enthusiasm and was extremely pleased to show us some of the ruins. When I decided to use some of the recordings I had made there for one of the pieces (# 2), I found "the pleasure of burning down churches" an appropriate title for this release. The 4 pieces were composed between April 2006 and January 2007. Some of the sounds came from my archives of unissued materials (especially from the mid 90's travel to Vietnam as heard in # 2), but most of the sounds were recorded in 2005/06. Thanks to Marc Behrens and Stephen Meixner for discussing details of the pieces and to Kouhei Matsunaga for taking part in one of the paper string actions as used on # 3. [RLW, January 2007]

Sala Delle Colonne -- "XX.A.D" -- CD -- €13
2012 Cold Meat Industry, cmi208
In the gray Italian province of Alessandria lives the multi-talented MEHMET R. FRUGIS, also known for his project MEKHATE - 35 GRAMS. In 2006, the project SALA DELLE COLONNE was born with an obscure CD on the American label, Autumn Wind Production. In 2007 / 2008, for this new album, XX A.D., Mehmet R. Frugis completely changed musical references, taking inspiration from the majestic elements of classical compositions by Wagner, Sibelius and Mahler. And, by collaborating with the "Orchestra Aurora", his artistic output shifted to a contemporary style that embraces and integrates electronic sounds and samples. The result is a masterpiece of Neoclassical Martial music. [press-release]

Szymczuk, Maciek & Slowtion -- "Ways" -- CD -- €10
2011 Zoharum, ZOHAR 024-2
The latest Maciek Szymczuk album was prepared together with a British artist hidden under the moniker Slowtion. 'Ways' is a musical journey into the depth of your own persona, the diary from spiritual journey in search of the answer on the meaning of the human existence where, among the complexities and blind alleys, one can find an element of sacrum, the contact with the Absolute. Musicwise, 'Ways' show slightly different traits of Maciek Szymczuk's work. It may have happened this way because of the collaborative nature of the project and Slowtion's involvement in it. Also, it may have been the character of Joanna's voice-delicate, ethereal that resembles Bristol sounds a bit. [press-release]

Whitehead, Chris -- "Gryphaea" -- CD -- €10
2012 Observatoire, obs * 032 cd, (ltd. 300)
An amazing new work from Chris Whitehead, Gryphaea is based on the geological features of England's North Yorkshire coastline. The cliffs around Whitby are rich in marine fossils, and during Jurassic times this area was on the fringes of the shallow, warm Tethys Ocean, which covered most of Europe. Field recordings, phonography and electroacoustic elements combine to form an impression of these relics from a distant age and their subtle meanings. Through quiet hints and fragments, consuming ripples and crashing pulses, through hydrophonic ocean sounds and the voices of people and machines, a deep prehistory is evoked. These five tracks display an atmospheric sense of composition coupled with respect for the scientific truth. [press-release]

Zenial -- "Connection Reset By Peer" -- CD -- €10
2012 Zoharum, ZOHAR 027-2
It's Zenial's first album in 6 years, and it shows his creativity in the context of live activity. It does not mean that 'Connection Reset by Peer' is a live album as such. Yes, the source material for the record was recorded live during sonic experiments and creating sound installations over the past few years. The album is not a compilation though-it's a well-weighed entity, thematically and sonically coherent. 'Connection Reset by Peer' is a result of interferences of environment sounds based to a large extent on electricity, radio feedback, electromagnetic field sounds emitted by current generators and elements of the so-called field recordings. Zero Centigrade -- "Umber" -- CD-R -- €7
2012 Observatoire, obs * и | music 035, (ltd. 110)
This record was made during 2011 in Italy. The album, product of the “impro duet” Tonino Taiuti and Vincenzo De Luce, can be called avant-blues. This mysterious work contains emotional parts. We can hear instrumental lines of acoustic and electric guitars, trumpet and electronic background sounds and effects. UMBER’s main features is its inclination to primitivism and its wigged out air. If this is the music, this is music at its most bare and essential form. [label info]

2011 Zoharum, ZOHAR 021-2
"Mnemosyne & The Structure Of Time" is a translation of the scenes that preceded the Earth’s decline in “Orbis Terrarum Requiem” into the sounds of iNsCissorS’ “Cinematic Ambient” where Mnemosyne, the ancient Hellenic Titan goddess of memory and remembrance and the inventress of language and words orchestrates the sequence of events and guides you throughout the complex cluster of the structure of time downwards to her lake in Hades where initiates used to drink in order to remember and bear memories along their journey through life... iNsCissorS’ third full-length album is a new journey through places beyond the Earth’s surface composed and performed by Vincent Andelmoth but with the also greatly important feature and additional composing and arrangements of Jason Andelmoth... Angel W. Black features giving her own enchanting touch with her astonishing voice either when lamenting as a queen that passed to silence or when invoking Hecate from Hades! Finally, as in every album the artwork is an inseparable part of the concept of iNsCissorS. This time the images cloaking the music are designed by the well known photographer/image maker John Santerineross (www.santerineross.com) who gave life to the image of Mnemosyne in his own unique way capturing the atmosphere of the album through his camera and translating it to another work of art! Inner Vision Laboratory -- "Future Chaos" -- CD -- €10
2011 Zoharum, IYHHH 004-2
Inspiration comes from various modern postmodern and futuristic art forms including sci-fi literature or films, minimalist and industrial underground music scene, amongst many other sources. The main such source of inspiration for 'Future Chaos' is today's ever - changing world. Wars, poverty, global economy in crisis, fossil fuels depleting more rapidly every year could put an end to the world as we know it in a snap. A sudden catastrophe could drive human kind away from its technological progress straight into dark and really volatile enviroment of the dark future and into the chaos embedded within it. Some years past the critical moment on planet earth humans begin to leave their isolated and scatterred enclaves to reconquer the desolate postapocalyptic landscapes. A world where ancient rituals and neoprimitivism spread over ruined remains of a reckless past. My work is an illustration of a world after a sudden collapse of humanity and its civilisation in during 21 st century. 'Future Chaos' is a dark ambient passage into landscapes of this world of tribal and postindustrial elements. [press-release]

Jerman, Jeph & Five Elements Music -- "Insecta" -- CD-R -- €8
2011 Still*Sleep, CDR19

Grasshoppers, cicadas, clumsy humble-bees, flies, wasps and others are recorded with love and accompanied with the humble rustle of grass, drone coming from remote roads and wind sweeps. A very summer and sultry work. [Abgurd]

Liles, Andrew & Menche, Daniel -- "The Progeny Of Flies" -- CD -- €13
2008 Beta-lactam Ring Records, mt206, (ltd. 500)
Ed. of 500 copies in a book bound CD case.. Kold Krush Groove, y’all. Literally! Individually Liles and Menche have torn the experimental world many new ones, but as a unit they achieve a critical mass so monumental that they deserve their own Hollywood-style canoodling name. That name: Linch-Me-Eels. The graceful ferocity that oozes out within the first few seconds is such that…well, let’s just say that if you called friends and told them you were on the moon, they would believe you. A vicious, celestial-cathedral rumble gapes its maw and spews forth into a sluggish river of electro-magma, reshaping landscapes once carved out by Cremaster Cycles and the gravitational forces of the planet Solaris. While Menche’s test-tones defying low-end slowly compresses the woofers into diamond earrings, an emerging theme for tack piano cautiously stabs at the din. And just before cowboy-robot-gone-mad Yul Brynner shows up to kill all humans, the piano slinks away to make room for the buzzing progeny of the flies, whose crescendo of wing-beats quietly, subtly rises and rises the swarm to Jupiter and beyond the infinite. After multiple listens a Xen(akis)–like state is realized and there should be a giant Star Fly-Child in your living room. Brutally cosmic!!! [press-release]

Ouroboros -- "Opus Tartari" -- CD -- €10
2011 Zoharum, ZOHAR 018-2
'Opus Tartari' is the latest album of Italian dark ambient project which - in its leader's own words - after years of esoteric and alchemist studies decided to transfer his own experiences into music. Ouroboros should be then treated as a medium used in search for its own philosophical stone. Compositions included on the album lead the listener into the world of antique and medieval times due to their tunes and the singing in Latin. Mystical, slightly sacral character of the tracks has become its leitmotif recognisible for the band. Marco Grosso known for his collaboration with many session musicians (with Claudio Dondo of Runes Order) asked a lot of vocalists (Nuna Luna - soprano voice, Sorath Isis, Aleph Zero, Malice) to participate in the recordings as well. This resulted in the creation of 'Opus Tartari' - an intriguing, emotional, full of unsettling beauty and esoterica journey. The album can be likened to early releases of Diamanda Galas, The Moon and the Nightspirit and The Moon Lay Hidden Beneath a Cloud. The album has been released in a 3-panel digipak. [press-release]

Theologian -- "The Further I Get From Your Star, The Less Light I Feel On My Face" -- CD -- €10
2010 Crucial Blast, CBR 87
The Further I Get From Your Star, The Less Light I Feel On My Face is the latest chapter from New York power electronics/synth-death demon Leech. This is the first full-length, widely available release from Leech's new incarnation as Theologian, which picks up where he left off with his long-running project Navicon Torture Technologies. Over the past decade, Navicon Torture Technologies blurred the edges of power electronics and dark industrial on albums like The Church Of Dead Girls (2002, Malignant), VTERVS (2008, NCC) and The Gospels Of The Gash (2009, Malignant) before ceasing operations in 2009. Now reconstituted as Theologian, Leech again explores the further realms of experience with a new form of blackened synth dread that combines many of the sounds that made up NTT's crushing electronic attack (Swedish death industrial, classic power electronics, harsh noise, powernoise) with a new level of heaviness and droneological power... Troum -- "Seeing-Ear Gods" -- CD -- €10
2011 Zoharum, ZOHAR 017-2
'Seeing-Ear Gods' is the second collaboration between Troum and Zoharum. The album in question is the re-release of the obscure CDR which saw the light of the day 5 years ago on Discorporeality Recordings label. Here it is repackaged (3-panel digipak) and gloriously remastered by Anders Peterson (from Ghost Sounds mastering studio) responsible for dusting off other Troum / Maeror Tri releases. 'Seeing-Ear Gods' is quite different a release from 'Autopoiesis / Nahtscato' released on Zoharum last year. It's not as multilayered or varied, but at the same time is much more minimalist and hence very hypnotic. It works more on the subconscious level. It demonstrates how to create a mindblowing atmosphere with very little sounds involved. Just one track, divided into 6 separate parts, but be assured that you will press the 'repeat' button a lot of times. [press-release]
