Corvuz - Invisible Landscapes

Systo Solar 2012
Hi everyone!

On this joyful spring day we are pleased to present you our new update!

First of all to be mentioned is the first CD in the series of ZHELEZOBETON Distribution Division dedicated to the promotion of releases put out by the authors themselves or through other labels. This is the debut album of CORVUZ from the city of Oryol, Russia, performing "classical Russian" kind of dark ambient. You will find this CD in the new arrivals to the catalogue.

In fact, this is the biggest update we ever had in the history of the mailorder! About 180 new releases are added, and abot 150 previously sold out items are back in stock. Among the rest we should mention new releases of such labels as underground Operator Produkzion and Radiodrone Records, black and white Monochrome Vision, new Russian label Alone At Last, US industrial giant Malignant Records / Black Plagve, Italian icy dreamers Glacial Movements, Czech EBM-electricians Monopolrecords, and also the new CD by Siberian old school industrial project Zinc Room and three new cassettes of the project Pustota, once again proving the emptiness of nature of sound, releases, and actually everything in this world.

It's of course great to sit at home and listen to music rotating artworks in your hands, but what can be better than live experimental music in the woods of the Karelian isthmus?! From May 4th to 9th in the Leningrad region will happen the traditional SYSTO SOLAR 2012 festival where we work on creating the Droning Glade - space designed for immersion in the nature of sound in all its unusual forms. This stage is for the music in all experimental styles: soundscapes / drone / dark ambient / noise / idm / sci-fi / lo-fi / lo-end, etc. Some more info (yet most of it in Russian language) is presented at the official website - http://spaceofjoy.ru/ru/music/#droningglade - and in our group at Vkontakte - http://vk.com/gudsysto2012. Welcome!

Bacause of working at the festival and taking rest from the internet, the mailorder will not function from May 3rd to 11th.

May you be happy,
M.M.

CD-R/CD

Ahad, Zsolt Sores -- "Ahad's Master's Garden III (2007 - 2009): The Harmonian Blues" -- 2 CD -- €10
2011 Fourth Dimension Records, FD2CD76 / AudioTONG, ATCD09.2011, (ltd. 500)
These two discs capture Budapest's prolific and versatile musician, Zsolt Sores, in a fully tranced-out fug that draws not only from his background in rock music but also his strong leanings towards the avant-garde and improvisation partly formed by being classically-trained yet never content to remain as such. In turn, we are treated to some near-mystical and transcendental journeys through a contemporary psychedelia at once recalling Taj Mahal Travellers and the spaceward-bound forays of early Pink Floyd and Can as well as Runzelstirn & Gurgelstock with their grizzled Dadaism and Lee Ranaldo's expansive and drone-bound guitar textures. Inspired by Fourier's Harmonian Opera and several quotations by Hakim Bey, Sores' has here created an album that resonates with depth of a nature rarely found these days. [press-release]

Arse -- "Discography" -- CD -- €10
2009 Lolita Slavinder Records
This Finnish band triumphed shortly during 1992-1993, followed in footsteps of Sore Throat, Seven Minutes of Nausea and most of all, early ANAL CUNT! Live assaults and one "studio demo" is compiled to one nearly 50 minute CD! Test the limits of noisecore chaos you can take! Absolute must! [label info]

Asbaar -- "Corona Veli Aurei" -- CD -- €10
2010 Black Drone, bdrl007
ASBAAR is a new dark ambient project of Marc Merinee (known for his martial industrial act ELDAR signed to Cold Meat Industry, as well as for his participation in Equimanthorn). "ASBAAR is a meeting with our ancestors who speak to us in our dreams, and teach us how to run our lives, everything that lies between the energies that move the world. To hear is to connect with our collective conscience, irrational consciousness that unites all living things together with all the energy that moves the universe." (Marc Merinee) "CORONA VELI AUREI" The Black Album is created under the influence of photographic collection of Manel O. Company, which was the key to finding the way to the creation of this album. Comes in 6-panel Digipak including 12-page booklet with photos by Manel O. Company and texts by Marc Merinee. [press-release]

Aspectee -- "Jour Cinq" -- CD -- €10
2011 Black Drone, bdrl012
Black Drone is proud to present the second full-length album of Aspectee following a debut CD Morben released through First Fallen Star in 2009. Aspectee is a project of German musician Michael Frenkel making electronic music since mid-90s, also known for his previous works as Evoke Scurvee. With "Jour Cinq" Aspectee presents a massive droning creation, dark and intense while transparent and organic at the same time. Over one hour of hypnotizing experience not to miss out... This is a pure art of drone, we can't recommend it more! [press-release]

"Lost Atlantis" embodies the ancestral myth of the well-known sunk land, an inheritage of all our subconscious wherever we come from. Ataraxia tried to capture the sounds of both the Mediterranean sea and the ocean, in a timeless suspension. [Equilibrium Music]

Atchley, Kenneth -- "Fountains" -- CD -- €10
2002 Auscultare Research, aus 016
With the right electronic tools and amount of ingenuity, you can turn the safest artifact into potential noise mayhem. Kenneth Atchley has reinvented the water fountain. Capturing the sound of water in perpetual motion, he enhances sonic details to the point of oversaturation. In his liner notes he explains: "This is sound not of waves, nor ripples on the surface; but on top of that: the foam, the embellishment." Indeed, what listeners hear is not the usual watery sounds used in electro-acoustic music. The fountain makes its own music, a shroud of millions of water particles hitting the surface, tiny individual sounds forming something not quite equal to the sum of its parts. Atchley uses all kinds of containers, pumps, and recording devices -- from field recording-type miking to contact microphones -- to capture the vibration of the "tub." Fountains presents three pieces of 20 minutes each. The artist doesn't merely illustrate his instruments, he builds dense noise pieces, heavy in intensity. They often lack subtlety in form, shifting abruptly from one setting to another (typical to harsh noise artists -- think of Merzbow or Bastard Noise playing in water), but this technique constantly destabilizes the listener, who has to refocus his or her listening. Some of the textures he achieves are simply amazing and, just to make sure listeners don't forget how they were obtained, he lets water speak for itself in numerous places. Harsh, strangely poetic, and one of a kind. [Franзois Couture, Allmusic]

Ax -- "Astronomy" -- CD -- €10
1997 Freek Records, FRR 027
Ax is the sometime-project of Anthony Di Franco, who appeared on early Skullflower albums. Mastered by Dennis Blackham. "Exploding star noise and electromagnetic overtones overloading your synapses."

The Being -- "Through Madness To Mercury" -- CD -- €10
2010 The Mercurius Collective, Tmc 05
The Being’s debut album deals with the concept of inner-transformation and personal growth on a spiritual level by combining the arts of philosophy & poetry, music & magic into one coherent whole. A musical style perhaps best described as neofolk / neocabaret - though not strictly bound to a genre as such - takes the listener on a journey through the realms of self-transformation with a strange, unworldly and experimental mixture of mood swings that intentionally shock the mind and purposefully disturb the mental balance. Digisleeve with 20-page booklet. [press-release]

Bianchi, Maurizio -- "Celtichants" -- CD -- €13
2012 Alone At Last, AAL[3], (ltd. 500)
Lost and found all of a sudden, this album is the exploration made with the chanting voices of unknown nature. Choral fragments were decomposed and restructured, arranged with the effects and atmospheric shifts, creating the mysterious soundtrack to the otherworldly ceremony. These echoing voices are going directly from the lost memory or the daydreams, nobody can tell you where they are from, where they are calling you. Limited edition of 500 copies in special packaging - custom made of textured paper with black/silver print, assembled by hand. Comes with the set of 3 photos of miocenic basalts made by Siegmar Fricke in Maspalomas (Gran Canaria Island). [label info]

Bianchi, Maurizio & Land Use -- "Neural Frequencies" -- 3"CD -- €7
2007 Steinklang Industries, SK-IN 08, (ltd. 500)
Spectral modulations refer artificial synthesis of psychophysical filters, while electro hypnotic segmentations unclose multiple external stimuli of pauperized dimensions. The neural degree is shading the higher method of frequencies, but the turgescent preceptive instruments autoregulate the recognizable discomfort. The normalization method is already remitted to the infected acquisition: it's the lacerating beginning of the epileptic end. [M.B.]

Bizarre Uproar -- "Viha & Kiima" -- CD -- €10
2011 Freak Animal Records / Filth And Violence
Since 1992 Bizarre Uproar remains one of the leading figures among Finnish noise. Their 2011 album is unleashed as LP/CD by Freak Animal and Filth & Violence. "Viha & Kiima" is culmination of the current style, showing the side of band that been seen on live assaults during recent years as well as on already classic "Musta Rotta" 7". 4 long tracks of amplifier torment captured in rehearsal bunker, combining the best elements of live-in-studio approach. Fierce and crude results with very natural flow of physical and concrete sound. Bizarre Uproar's style takes a good dose of most violent elements of power electronics and drenches it to loud rusty harsh noise. CD with f&v cd style soft clear poly-box with full color artwork by J.Siikala. [press-release]

Black Leather Jesus -- "Prove To Me That You're More Than Meat" -- CD -- €10
2007 Audio Dissection, AD03, (ltd. 300)
2007 recordings from this long standing Texas project, featuring the lineup of Richard Ramirez, Kevin Novak (TEF), Vance Osborne, Sean Matzus and Scott Houston. Over 50 minutes of sonic violence dealing with the usual gay S & M themes. [Self Abuse Records]

Black Leather Jesus -- "Torture Machinist" -- CD -- €10
1995/2009 Industrial Recollections, IR-BLJ1
Tape recorded originally back in 1994. Massive 5 piece line-up churning richly textured but extremely crude and brutal harsh noise in finest tradition of houston harsh noise scene. Freak Animal Records re-issued this as very limited CDR back in 2000, but since material simply is outstanding in all ways - in BLJ catalogue and harsh noise in general - it was obligatory to get material done on real CD. Now, 2009 Industrial Recollections release as CD, jewelbox, including all original artworks of tape! [press-release]

Blackhouse -- "We Will Fight Back!" -- CD -- €10
1988/2009 Klanggalerie, gg133, (ltd. 300)
The ultimate version of the ultimate Blackhouse album. Brian Ladd presents you WWFB as it was recorded and meant to be heard. Due to the time restrictions on vinyl, several tracks had to be taken off the album. Now, this classic record comes to you full-length, with the original intended running order and a booklet explaining more about the recording and some rarely seen band photographs. Tracks include "We will fight back", "Rock Rock", "Granite Grind" and "Totally Gone". An Industrial-rock masterpiece! [label info]

Blood Box -- "Funeral In An Empty Room" -- CD -- €12
2011 Power & Steel, PAS 29
Seven years after the highly acclaimed Iron Dream CD (Eibon) and 14 years after the CD debut, A World of Hurt (Malignant/Katyn), Blood Box finally returns with a new album, Funeral In An Empty Room. As one part of revered dark ambient project Yen Pox, Michael JV Hensley is certainly no stranger to creating epic and immersive soundscapes, and with Funeral In An Empty Room, he has yet again meticulously crafted another highly detailed, intensely atmospheric work. Awash in slow, dreamlike waves of morphing textures, and blissfully unfurling cosmic drift, this is nothing less than an aural vision down the hypnotic path to the unknown; serene yet gloomy, with multiple layers of swelling tones, subdued melodies, and ominous, spacey effects. Blood Ov Thee Christ -- "Master Control" -- CD -- €10
1988/2005 Segerhuva, SEGER 11
Most people tend to want to forget, we don’t. That is why we have chosen to re-release this killer tape. Master Control was originally released as an ultra-obscure tape back in 1988, and listening to it now, it is clear that it has stood the test of time, and sounds just as raw, visceral and bloodthirsty as it did back then. We are not re-releasing this because someone involved got famous doing folk music years later, no we do it simply because we think it deserves to be more than a rumour at the outer fringes of lunatic Norrland. This is how we remember music from when we were kids – dark, obsessive and frightening as hell. Master Control contains the original c-60 plus a 10 minute bonustrack recorded in 1988. [press-release]

The sound of BSBC is dark and heavy, violently bleak horror-noise: “a demon network of scraping nails.” [press-release]

Boy Dirt Car -- "Spoken Answer To A Silent Question" -- CD -- €10
2007 Aftermusic
2007 reunion recording. In one of the most unlikely reunions of recent years, seminal Milwaukee noise group Boy Dirt Car announces the release of its first new recordings since 1988. Spoken Answer To A Silent Question brings together several original members -- co-founder Darren Brown, Keith Brammer and Dan Kubinski (Die Kreuzen), T.S. Wahlen and Dave Szolwinski -- and, consistent with Boy Dirt Car's classic revolving-door lineup, brings in several newcomers, including longtime Milwaukee mainstays Peder Hedman, Karl Paloucek and Jeff Hamilton. For much of the 1980s, Milwaukee was home to Boy Dirt Car's brooding sound. Influenced as much by Wisconsin's brutal winters and the dark tales of its North Woods as by any of their avant garde contemporaries, the group forged a sound different from other so-called 'industrial' bands of the day. As one reviewer once put it, 'Boy Dirt Car creates a sound not like being in a car crash, but of being under one.' Just as it cadged its industrial instrumentation from scrapyards and roadsides, BDC culled its members from across Milwaukee's vibrant music scene of the time, building up an intense following and a reputation as one of the city's most potentially hazardous acts. At the same time, the group recorded numerous (now-legendary) cassettes and LPs which, while escaping the ears of Rolling Stone, garnered them coverage in The Wall Street Journal, and -- even more unlikely -- from late advice columnist Ann Landers. [press-release]

Brethren -- "Within Death You Will Be Free" -- CD -- €10
2003/2008 Audial Decimation Records, ADR005, (ltd. 250)

Bvdub -- "I Remember (Translations of ‘Morketid’)" -- CD -- €12
2011 Glacial Movements Records, GM0011, (ltd. 250)
“Alessandro Tedeschi, aka Netherworld, has become a dear friend of mine since his kind invitation to produce an album for Glacial Movements last year, and his vision, kindness, and honesty have been an inspiration. He had sent me a copy of his album ‘Morketid,’ and from the opening notes I was mesmerized – not in a typical way, as his music is far too subtle for that, but on a much deeper level, as the music brought a flood of memories surging forth that I had long thought lost. It took me back to those times when ambient music was so pure, and so true… so when he then asked if I would be interested in doing a translation of the album, I couldn’t have said yes any faster. I call them translations, as they are not remixes. I used his original work as a base, and it is indeed interwoven in the translations, but my translations serve more as my own narratives on the memories and feelings his original work evoked. The translations are about memories… memories of dreams lost, and never fulfilled… but also the beauty in knowing that dreams exist… as whether they come true or not, it’s in their pursuit that life means anything. The original album brought back all my memories of my time in the early rave scene, the dreams I (and everyone, really) had for the beautiful utopia that only existed in our minds, and which we were only able to reach but a few times – but also my current surroundings of China, where in a rapidly changing environment, I am constantly reminded of unrealized dreams – deserted buildings that stand as monuments of once-great visions, and echoes of so many voices once yearning to be heard, wanting only for the world to remember them for a moment. And so it has been a strange kind of full-circle experience, as I stand in this place with no connection to my former life, yet in it I realize that every ‘scene’ is the same – we all just want to be heard, by someone - and to be remembered.” [from the author]

Chrysakis, Thanos -- "Magma" -- CD -- €10
2011 Monochrome Vision, mv40, (ltd. 500)
Thanos Chrysakis’ output consists of composition, performance, and installation. He was born in 1971 in Athens, residing for the last 12 years in the UK. His work has appeared on various independent labels, and events in several countries while since 2007 he operates the Aural Terrains label. He composes for electronics, acoustic instruments and environmental sounds, focusing on the structural and aesthetic capacity of sonic matter. His works were selected at the international competition De musique et d'art sonore electroacoustiques de Bourges 2005 and in 2006 at the 7th international electroacoustic competition Musica Viva in Lisbon. His current performing projects are collaborations with Wade Matthews, James O’Sullivan, Dario Bernal-Villegas, and Jerry Wigens. "Magma" is nearly half hour long electroacoustic piece, recorded in 2011 and presenting one of the best compositions by the artist. For this work, he extensively uses electronic devices, acoustic sounds and field recordings. The music on this cd breaks the boundaries between experimental electronics, electroacoustic, glitch, microsound and ambient, as myriades of colliding sounds coalesce and interact in a minimal, abstract sonic dramaturgy. Corvuz -- "Invisible Landscapes" -- CD -- €10
2012 self-released / ZHELEZOBETON distribution, ZHBD-01, (ltd. 500)
The debut album of a musician from the city of Oryol, Russia, released with the support of ZHELEZOBETON label. "Invisible Landscapes" is dark ambient recorded with a typical Russian approach combining homage to native traditions, deeply melancholic contemplation and powerful thirst for the beyond. Dark red embers, twilight, wind sways over tree crowns, lost eyesight of the consciousness wandering in forest labyrinths and gradually dissolving in the infinite circle of life and death... Rich sound of Soviet analogue synthesizers, a bit of field recordings, voice samples and digital processing - this is the pallette used for creating this image. It feels that the music of Curvuz is inspired by the project Staruha Mha, a cover-version of its track rounds up the album. The album was mastered by Sergey (Uak-Kib), artwork performed by Sergey Ilchuk (Siyanie, ex-Vetvei & Vresnit Art). Digipak.

Crawling With Tarts -- "Sarajevo Center Metal Doors" -- CD -- €8
1995 Realization Recordings, RZD-019

They produced about 20 cassettes in 80-s and then switched to "surface noise operas" (operas composed out of field recordings, studio manipulations and acoustic improvation), three of which are presented on this CD.

Dark Ages -- "A Chronicle of the Plague" -- CD -- €10
2006 Supernal Music, FERLY039CD, (ltd. 1000)
DARK AGE's second album continues offering us minimalist Dark Ambient from the main member of DRUDKH and HATE FOREST, this time more melodic than before, and inspired on the horrors of the Middle Ages. Between the fall of the Western Roman emprie in A.D. 476 and the fall of Constantinople (capital of the Eastern Roman empire) in 1453, Europe was ravaged by plagues and superstition. Greek was largely forgotten, and with it much of the learned texts of antiquity. 'A Chronicle of the Plague' is a musical tale of the terror of 1349, which depopulated entire villages and decimated Europe's human population; the disease was not understood at the time, and therefore it was assumed to have been the wrathful punishment from the Judaeochristian Deity. Alas, prayers were of no avail... [press-release]

Das Synthetische Mischgewebe -- "Casual Praise Of Domestic Calamities" -- CD -- €10
2004 Hypnagogia, GIA02, (ltd. 500)
Das Synthetische Mischgewebe started in the early 80's in Berlin with electronical industrial / avant-garde associated cassette releases. All compositions by Guido Huebner, created between 1999 and 2004 in Caen, France and Berlin, Germany. Sections of track 6 recorded in the studio for electro acoustic music at the arts academy of Berlin. Field recordings for track 8 and 9 were carried out at the harbour of Hamburg, Germany, as well as at the shores of Lower Normandy and in the countryside around Caen, especially the bridges trespassing the canal between Caen and the sea. Ltd x 500 copies in a square DVD case. [Cold Spring]

DDV -- "A Sound Atlas Of Venereology" -- CD -- €10
1982/2011 Trash Ritual, trash054
Another re-issue on Trash Ritual by Danny DeVos, also known as DDV and one half of Club Moral. His 'Sound Atlas Of Venereology' dates from 1982. This is very much an underground product of its time: a booklet with pictures of veneric diseases, and its not always to relate them to the music (not the titles of the pieces: they speak volumes!), which is the sort of noise that was popular in the days: a simple synthesizer sound, piercing vocals (which are unmistakably DDV sneering vocal charm), cut-ups and manipulations of vinyl records. A great document of its time. [from FdW review, Vital Weekly]

Dead Man's Hill -- "Spirits" -- CD -- €10
2010 Steinklang Industries, SK 53
Over the last 7 years, DEAD MAN'S HILL became a well known and much appreciated artist in Ritual Ambient, Neoclassic and Bombastic Martial Music and with this new album, the band drags the listener into alternate realities and far away spheres. The lyrics are mainly dealing with travelling in these worlds. Musically the album goes further in the vein of Lakes of Sacrifice (2006) but a lot deeper-going and much more worked out, so you can say that "Spirits" is definitely the band's best album up to date. Dark and deep-dronning Ambient, mixed with strong and powerful Martial songs, varied with hypnotically mesmerizing Tribal parts. All in all the whole Album has a strong Death Industrial touch and even carries some Gregorian elements. Listen to this album, and let yourself take away to a intangible world, to far away shperes where things are just different to all You ever expected. "Spirits" includes a video from the track Road to Sweet Waters, made by Alex Hugin Wieser. 8 songs / 65 min. [press-release]

Recorded and assembled between 1999 and 2009, “Siege” is the audio-documentation of the activities of cultural terrorist multiple name entity known since the 80’s as DEATH PACT INTERNATIONAL - a monicker worn as a balaklava by several notorious noisemongers to undermine certainties and spread chaos through heavy electronics tracks, slogans and art-war. For this occasion sounds and words were collected by members of The Grey Wolves, Wertham, Con-Dom with the help of other anonymous collaborators. Power electronics / old school industrial not too dissimilar from compositions of the afore mentioned projects mixing for this occasion studio tracks along with semi-live tracks reworked in studio empowered by further sampling and multiple vocal aggression... Mastered at the Quadraro basement (Truceklan, Metal Carter, Noyz Narcos, Wertham, etc.) - it was well worth the wait of so many years. The CD comes in a de-lux digi-box including 9 front/back printed inserts and 1 four pages booklet all pressed on heavy glossy paper and is limited to 900 copies. [press-release]

Depressive Disorder -- "The Chronicle Of Fear" -- CD -- €10
2009 Monopolrecords, 011, (ltd. 200)
After the seven years of existence and four years after the release of their last studio album In Depth comes up the Czech electro-formation Depressive Disorder with a new album "The Chronicle Of Fear". The album, composed of the raw electronics, solid guitars, leads up to the dark, almost ambient atmosphere, accompanied by typical vocals. The Chronicle of Fear brings it all in the eleven album tracks. [label info]

Depressive Disorder -- "In Depth" -- CD -- €10
2006 Monopolrecords, 007, (ltd. 500)
Indeed, Czech Republic's most famous EBM/Electro act couldn't find any better name to describe their musically evolution since their debut "Ultima Ratio". This is an 'in depth' piece of quality Electro/Industrial music, pressed on a silver circle and hidden in a well designed digi-pack. Also the Czech label Monopolrecords marks with this new output their return after having released not lesser than six releases in 2005. DEPRESSIVE DISORDER did grow and could win a lot of more musically maturity. While the charismatic vocals provided by Patrik Lev still offers all paths between emotional and melodious up to raging and screaming, the music and so the synth play has reached a not expected complexity. Same I can say about the rhythm programming. This is not that stupid 4/4-on-the-floor beat, almost all tracks show some diversity on that term, but still featuring a tough slap-in-your-face attitude. DEPRESSIVE DISORDER play a fine and well worked out of Dark Electro with thick and ominous synth layers and a unique kind generally. They also now included some guitar riffs added into some tracks like 'Abyss', 'Underneath', 'TV-Freak' and 'Blind' - only to strengthen some arrangements and - of course - not to satisfy some Metal headbangers. 'Abyss' and 'Blind' get my vote for bringing on the most addictive melodious content, both can be named as favorites of an overall amazing release. This release is one of the huge amount which needs to get heard without doubt by the masses of the genre. You'll get also a video clip of the track 'TV-Freak' which surely doesn't fit with the tastes of the VIVA/MTV (de-)generation. Go out and purchase this masterpiece!!! [Marc Tater, Chain D.L.K.]

Detritivore -- "Pakt" -- CD -- €10
2010 Lyderhorn Records, LR-009, (ltd. 1000)
Alternating between light and heavy, while being simultaneously beautiful and ugly, the Norwegian duo Detritivore manages to mix these elements on their debut album, Pakt. Essentially a concept album depicting disillusionment with religion and subsequent descent into darkness, the album is a harrowing experience of not quite Drone, not quite Noise, and not quite Doom Metal, but a true amalgamation of the three. Pakt is produced by Joakim Jensen, mastered by James Plotkin, and features mesmerizing illustrations by Justin Bartlett. [label info]

Dilloway, Aaron -- "Bad Dreams" -- CD -- €10

Dilloway's got a grave problem! Tense ghost clatter and haunted Michigan sputter collapse helplessly into fever, exhaustion, depression. This is home-taping of unconscious dread and hopeless shudder. Originally released in a small edition on his own Hanson Records, Bad Dreams return for the Wolf Eyes / ex-Violent Ramp / Galen / Couch member. When Aaron wakes up, he'll wish he were dead... Blank 8 track tapes, metal scraping and looping, and tape players mic'd on the inside... [press-release]

Dim Arcana -- "Vox Populi" -- CD -- €10
2011 Black Drone, bdrl010
Dim Arcana was born in the a.d. MMVIII, from the intent to recall ancient atmospheres of death and pestilence, dreadful environments where the man of the medieval times lived. Influenced by the greatest names of the ambient scene (like Uruk-Hai, Raison D'etre, Equimanthorn) the duo presents a medieval dark ambient with great noise and drone influences, alternating orchestral passages of ethereal rhyming. Lavish breaths of past times serve as frames, where bells of churches and ancestral instruments bring you back in medieval Europe... This debut full length album follows the EP Yersinia also released by Black Drone. CD comes in beautifully designed 6-panel digipak and includes 12-page booklet with texts and illustrations. Proper follow up to their debut LP 'Solar Bridge', 'EMERALDS' takes the thick drone sound of that LP into an even more abstract and strange place. Emme Ya -- "Atavistic Dreams & Phallic Totems" -- CD -- €10
2011 Cold Spring, CSR127CD
40 minutes of dense astral emanations and magickal paradigms transmitted through the ritual mantras generated by Emme Ya. Emme Ya’s ‘Atavistic Dreams & Phallic Totems’ is based on the mysterious African Dogon tribe and their secret oral tradition. In the 1930s two anthropologists gained their trust enough to be told these remarkable secrets. The Dogon seemed to possess advanced astronomical knowledge beyond their means, without any instruments. They revealed that the star Sirius was orbited by the ‘smallest and heaviest of all stars’ and drew its elliptical orbit, which spans 50 years. This white dwarf (Sirius B) is so invisible that the first image was only obtained by scientists in 1970. But the Dogon also told of a third star in the system named Emme Ya (now Sirius C). This was only discovered in 1995 and only with the use of advanced infrared imaging. The Dogon say that their information was given to their ancestors through contact with beings from the star system of Sirius, calling these beings Nommos or ‘the monitors of the universe’. There are only gods who can walk along the rainbow, the staircase will be the chthonic image of Mercurius, encased in a vessel. Being mercury, it will dissolve gold, fading its solar essence. Oh, the brave wanderer! The very man, who defeated the tiger and overrode the double-headed steed, pick up the keys of Spargia, and let the crimson light of the Magnum Opus begin to gleam! The will of the one, who clenchs the Lapis, is superior, feeling the breath of a clean mud’s flesh. Francis, Richard & Russell, Bruce -- "Garage Music" -- CD -- €13
2012 Alone At Last, AAL[2], (ltd. 500)
Bruce Russell has an MA in Political Studies, and works as an information designer. He has previously worked in the field of archives management, during which time he ran the National Radio sound archive. As a sound artist Russell is known mainly for his involvement in New Zealand’s longest-running improvisational 'post-rock' group, the Dead C., although he also works in the field of radiophonic composition, and records as a solo artist and with the trio A Handful of Dust. He performs with electric guitar, electronic devices and analogue tapes. Bruce also runs the internationally respected record label Corpus Hermeticum. Richard Francis (b. 1977) is representing the younger generation of NZ musicians, working mainly with electronics and noise matters. This album is a collection of their collaborations in different modes. Three parts of "Garage" are their showcase of mail music exchange, the "Undead" piece is the justaposition of two solo sets from 2009, and "Live" is recorded during the concert at The Physics Room, Christchurch. Francis plays modular synthesizer and computer, and Russell uses guitar, tapes and clavioline (the old synthesizer like instrument invented in 1947). Limited edition of 500 copies in special packaging - custom made of textured paper, assembled by hand. Comes with two photos of modern buildings. [label info]

Gnomonclast -- "Gather Together" -- CD -- €13
2011 Old Europa Cafe, OECD145
This, the second album of a proposed trilogy, furthers the themes drawn from Tempus Null nearer to a conclusion. While remaining aggressively percussive, many orchestral movements and melodic constructions accompany the virulent proclamations of J1 StatiK (Luftwaffe) and N2 ItinitI (Valence). Also accompanying Gnomonclast for this release are a host of musicians from such bands as Art Abscons, Cult Of Youth, Awen, Stahlfaust, State Research Bureau, Giftstrauch, and Front Sonore. This album exemplifies its title, for never before have so many diverse artists gathered together to tell a coherent, yet complex narrative concerning time’s certain movement toward an end. Prior to time’s censure, Gnomonclast offers "Gather Together," an album that requires close scrutiny. [press-release]

Golem Gross / The Bastard Noise -- "Universe Of Dishonor" -- CD -- €10
2009 Housepig, HPIG-19
In 2002, GOLEM GROSS was an unknown "Skull Ally" in Brooklyn who displayed a strong sense of composition, gentle restraint & an arsenal of malfunctioning audio. "Universe of Dishonor" transports the listener to an intergalactic incubus wherein Abrupt Millipede Feeding and Stegosaurus Wars are apt titles. Abysmal canyons, absolutely blunt lyrical style & episodes of severly destructive battle make "Universe of Dishonor" a dynamic, possessed & grievous opus paying tribute to the colossal failures of man. Rather than 'just another CD' in the discography, "Universe of Dishonor" shines as a high point in a long career of dedication to premium audio display. [label info]

Hair Police -- "The Empty Quarter" -- CD -- €10
2007 Harbinger Sound, HARBINGER 056
Mad strangeness from this trio of psychedelic noise-icians out of Lexington, Kentucky… with spiritual and creative cross-pollination from the likes of Wolf Eyes, Prurient, and Burning Star Core. Mike Connelly (guitar, vocals, tape manipulation, noise), Robert Beatty (electronics), and Trevor Tremaine (drums, vocals, tape manipulation) create an ominous, searing, screeching, seething, maniacal, grimy, guttural, tortured sonic assault fraught with swelling oscillator tones, soaring rumble-sweeps… ill-gotten ecstatic wails, restrained respirations… a devolving radioactive bombardment of rip-squeak-squelch-disintegration beams… scanning a contracted and overwhelmed soulscape. The world does not end with a whimper, but a bang. And, this is certainly a soundtrack for the aftermath. [Roland Blunt, KFJC]

Since its premiere in early 1999, GX’s Untitled Title Belt has become a main sound source both on stage and in the studio. Just by looking at this belt, one would not necessarily be able to tell that this implement is a combination microphone, distortion-pedal, and noise generator. It was fashioned after the traditional championship wrestling belt. This CD contains realtime recordings of GX's Untitled Title Belt feeding back on itself. No multi-tracking or post-production was applied.

Herbst9 -- "Usumgal Kalamma" -- 2 CD -- €17
2011 Loki Foundation, LOKI 56
What began with the previous releases, "Buried Under Time and Sand" and "The Gods Are Small Birds..." comes now to the final chapter and climax, with an epic double album, Usumgal Kalamma: "The written word that has come down to us through the discovery of the ancient civilizations of Sumer and Akkad and the deciphering of their languages and writing systems speaks of flourishing city-states, their holy places, their great rulers, their deeds in peace and war, their gods and demons, their rituals, their tales of creation and much more." Usumgal Kalamma is a huge and rich soundwork, divided into two parts that transport the listener into the realms of the archaic world. It is an invitation to explore a mythic age in history whereby the inventions of these people are still connected with us today. Intense ritualistic and percussive drumming melt with deep atmospheric drones, invocations, otherwordly tones and various acoustic instruments such as gongs, bells and zither. This sonic prayer is Herbst9's trademark of a ritual infused dark ambient style and an essential document that combines historical background with sound art. Comes in a box with a 32-pages booklet. The Het -- "You Not Me" -- CD -- €10
2011 Monochrome Vision, MVTH, (ltd. 500)
A very strong personal work, with each track having its own concept and story of creation. Despite this, the album has a strong sound and a monolithic continuous-direction, which can be felt only after hearing it in full. Thoughtful, emotional, dark and mysterious neoclassical / ambient music with a black palette. After all, there is a law by which the viewer / listener perceives a black stage design as separate from themselves, the viewer, and a white / light as a continuation of it, the viewer's space. Archive sessions of two projects from the same artist. Psychedelic Power Electronics in vein of "Gromoglasnoe DA!" sometimes intersected with more rhythmic tracks, remotely resembling Genocide Organ, and squeaking / creaking dehumanized Electronic Noise Ambient. Hypsiphrone -- "And The Void Shall Pierce Their Eyes" -- CD -- €10
2011 Black Plagve, INFECT09, (ltd. 500)
Debut album from this one man project from Greece, and a new entry into the Black Plague roster, fitting right in with label mate’s Sewer Goddess in its ability to create innately evil and impure sounds, integrating elements of doom metal, black metal, and dark experimentalism into the pure industrial horror that constitutes the majority of this release. The result is nothing short of absolute and abject dread; 8 tracks spanning an hour worth of material… an auditory overload that’s completely immersive, and at times overwhelming, where heaving masses of percussive doom collide with shuddering machinery dirge, ghoulish and nightmarish ambience, torturous screams, and cinematic depravity, the sounds layered into a tangled and abstract tapestry of something completely epic and nearly majestic in its scale. Fans of Gnaw Their Tongues, Abruptum, and “Necrose Evangelicum” era BDN will do well to wallow in the oozing blackness and unbridled malevolence Hypsiphrone has created. Illusion Of Safety -- "Probe" -- CD -- €10
1992/2010 Perdition Plastics, PER 012, (ltd. 500)
This is the first re-issue of Illusion of Safety’s Probe since its only appearance in 1992. In a limited edition of 500 copies, Perdition Plastics is proud to reintroduce this notable work of contemporary composition. Veteran provocateurs, Illusion of Safety, examine an audio landscape found between youth and innocence, manufactured entertainment, and suburban complacency. Using a pastiche of field recordings and suggestively composed elements, Dan Burke and Jim O’Rourke strikingly capture ambivalence and their own personal interactions within this environment. Probe was one of several early, pinnacle works to foreshadow the unique and prolific audio fingerprint of renowned producer/player, Jim O’Rourke, when still a compositional student in Chicago. O'Rourke began working with Dan Burke's Illusion of Safety project in the early '90s, releasing three albums with the project. This release fits neatly into O’Rourke’s recent issuing of forgotten and initial recordings. As the constant center of Illusion of Safety since 1983, Dan Burke has consistently edited and evolved more than 20 CDs from ambience to electronica, from sound collage to post-industrial noise. The complexity and restraint found within Probe marked a compelling new direction for Burke and a great many others influenced by his music. Illusion of Safety has been released by such labels as Die Stadt, Experimedia, Silent, Soleilmoon, Staalplaat, Tesco, and Waystyx among others. Collaborations include Cheer-Accident, Thomas Demuzio, Kevin Drumm, Ben Vida, and others. Probe will be of interest to those who enjoy Hafler Trio, Throbbing Gristle, Luc Ferrari, etc. [press-release]

Incapacitants -- "Burning Orange" -- CD -- €10
2008 Pica Disk, PICA006
Incapacitants needs no introduction; the duo of Fumio Kosakai and T.Mikawa; veterans and originators of Japanese noise music; cult band number one for noise fanatics worldwide; a band whose infamous status as the best live noise act ever has continued to grow over the years because the duo almost never plays outside of Japan. In January 2007 Incapacitants performed live, for the second time in Europe in 25 years, at the All Ears festival in Oslo Norway for an overly enthusiastic audience (people from all around Europe had travelled to see their heroes). The band later described the two shows as highlights of their career. Burning Orange documents these concerts. The CD consists of two complete sets; one Incapacitants as a duo and on the second joined by finnish noise-connoisseur Tommi Keränen (Testicle Hazard) as a trio under the name of Fumio Tommiakawa (a take on Gomikawa Fumio; the trio of Pain Jerk and Incapacitants). The sound of Incapacitants is described in the liner notes of Burning Orange by Tommi Keränen as "an inspiring, pure, all-encompassing, ecstatic storm of sound that has a power of near-religious proportions – and that alone, without any unnecessary gimmicks". That celebratory ecstasy certainly comes across on Burning Orange, of which Kerдänen also handled the post-production under the supervision of Mikawa. [press-release]

L/A/B -- "Psychoacoustics" -- CD -- €10
2004 Ground Fault Recordings, GF032
Live improvisations on electronics and mechanics treated with scientifically approved methods; together with composed sections interpolated with sounds of science; illustrates the musical sounds of the human psyche. Along any sensory continuum the adaptation level is the level we are used to. As listeners adapt to greater amounts of L/A/B music, there is a gradual shift along the continuum toward greater pleasure. At one extreme is the beauty that is associated with a sense of lightness and balanced order. It does have a faintly decorative quality to it. At the other extreme we have the much darker form of beauty that we associate with profundity and truth. The distinction between these two extremes of beauty has less to do with the objects under consideration, whether a flower, or a piece of music, than it does with the attitude of the considerer of the object. The dominating mythology of our time is science. Scientific methods applied to the arts can be used to enhance the receptability of the listener. L/A/B helps the listeners to program their own brains and to develop their own sensitivities. [press-release]

A collaboration between Tuguska Label owner and the musician behind such projects as Odo (Drone Doom), A Perfect Friend (Post Rock), Pacta (Ambient) and the German musician Frank Rowenta who makes experimental music since early 80-s. Very pleasant, airy and summer album. Field recordings (voices, wind, rustles of nature) are carefully mixed with guitar tunes, synthesized abstract melodies and hypnotic drones. Perhaps this is subjective perception, but the compositions draw pictures close to Tarkovsky's movie "Mirror". [Abgurd]

Lethe -- "Catastrophe Point #5" -- CD -- €10
2009 Intransitive Recordings, INT034
Catastrophe Point #5 is the latest in Kuwayama Kiyoharu‘s signature series of compositions that explore the charged, mysterious atmosphere of disused industrial sites. For this album, Lethe turns his attention to an abandoned warehouse by a pier in his hometown of Nagoya, Japan, using objects discovered in situ to perform a ritual of sonic resurrection. He brings a dead space back to life, giving it a voice and allowing it to speak. Metal chains, sheet metal, broken machinery, and factory debris are bowed, struck, and dragged across the concrete floors of the massive hall, reverberating and responding as Kuwayama and his microphones scuttle across the desolate terrain. Growling cello and unstable horns underscore the torrents of percussive clatter. Catastrophe Point #5 is a haunting album of volatile, malevolent ambiance... Kiyoharu Kuwayama began working with sound in the late 1980s, using half-scale violin, cello, and found junk objects in the group Minotaure. In 1999, he and violinist Rina Kijima formed the improvisational acoustic duo Kuwayama-Kijima to bring their instruments outdoors and perform in environments with unique acoustic properties, notably underneath a highway overpass and in a construction site. Between 1999 and 2003, Kuwayama organized the five-day-long Lethe.Voice.Festival in an unused grain warehouse... Lethe‘s previous release on Intransitive was Tsurumai, a stellar collaborative CD with Dutch noise legends Kapotte Muziek. He has also appeared on albums with bassist Matt Heyner (Malkuth, Cold Bleak Heat, No-Neck Blues Band), Jonathan Coleclough, Hidekai Shimada (Agencement), Carter Thornton (Enos Slaughter, Izititiz), Kiyoshi Mizutani, and Campbell Kneale (Birchville Cat Motel)... For fans of Christoph Heemann, Surface of the Earth, The New Blockaders, Z’ev, or Organum. [press-release]

Loscil -- "Coast / Range / Arc" -- CD -- €12
2011 Glacial Movements Records, GM010
Loscil is a recording project of the Canadian composer Scott Morgan. His career in the ambient music genre began in 1999 with the debut self-produced work A New Demonstration of Thermodynamic Tendencies which drew the attention of American label Kranky. Working primarily with Kranky and Ghostly International, Loscil has released some wonderful works which led him to be defined by worldwide media as one of the most authoritative composers of electronic music of our times. One of Loscil’s main features is to write environmental weavings which revolve around a well-defined subject. For example, the subject of thermodynamic principles with Triple Point or the subaquatic work Submers, where every composition takes its name from that of a historic submarine. This aspect of the Canadian artist perfectly merges with the Glacial Movements theme and philosophy; that of glacial and isolationist ambient music... In fact, Coast / Range / Arc is centered around the coastal mountains of the Pacific Northwest, studded with glaciers, lakes, waterfalls, canyons and epic views. The majestic ranges form a striking mountain landscape. These tracks explore the timelessness of mountainous elevations; oxygen deprived and surrounded by boundless skies. Mountains are hardly static - in fact they are dynamic on a time scale beyond the human experience. They grow, buckle, twist, erupt and erode at an epic pace. The Coast / Range / Arc is filled with such mountains and valleys, their dynamics nearly imperceptible. They evoke awe and a connection to an imperceptible past. They are constantly changing, yet represent such a seemingly stoic fixture in our relatively short lives. [press-release]

Machinist Noise Assault -- "Self Help" -- CD -- €10
2010 Silken Tofu, stx.04, (ltd. 300)
'Self Help' is the first official album by Machinist Noise Assault, culminating after years of dabbling with different styles of drone, noise, and industrial since its inception in 1998. Lyrically, 'Self Help' is a scornful examination of various forms of self abuse/neglect, and severe internal struggle based around the concept of one being one's own worst enemy. Sonically, expect to hear densely layered power electronics, standing out from the usual 'Set it and forget it'-style of its peers with less focus being applied to outright abrasiveness, and more being put on texture, development, and atmospheric elements. Mastering by THOMAS GARRISON. 7" sized black cardboard package with silver print, packaged in transparent bag. [press-release]

Malachi / The Bastard Noise -- "The Immortals" -- CD -- €10
2009 Housepig, HPIG-021 / Hear More!, HMI06 / 200mg, 200MG010
This split marks a dedicated continuation of excellence in delivery and concept from milwaukee's malachi as well as a change in direction for the bastard noise. Malachi surrounds with two uncompromising orchestral compositions that are both stunning in thier appeal. The bastard noise line up is joined by a debut of l. Rauf and it delivers two altogether delicate compositions that seem an attempt at describing nature on a universal scale with the vast distances between objects only traversed by light itself; a glittering of long-since moribund stars from eons before it was seen by man.both units strive for the epic in their own manner. Manilapede -- "s/t" -- CD -- €10
2010 Turgid Animal, TA534
"Makes me feel like i've bored a hole into the center of the earth with my teeth!" says one friend close to this Starving Weirdo's alter-ego band. Self described as "Dune Rock" & coming from the deserts of Manila, California; this is a band very influenced by it's surroundings. Slow motion metalic riffs ring throughout the entire 50 minutes of the debut album, laying the founding for waves of rolling synth lines and sporadic clangings echoing in the distance, presumably a shamanic attempt at drums but too lost in a trance to muster any concrete tempo or rhythmn. Album of the year for me, what about you? [press-release]

Marutani, Kojo -- "Pataphysics" -- CD -- €10
2000 Alluvial Recordings, ALL002, (ltd. 500)
Our first release for 2000, this is from Japanese composer Koji Marutani, who also runs the Digital Narcis label. Here, he presents a group of recordings of wide variation. He continues his series of "Scenes" recordings which incorporate field and locational recordings with electronic elements. The first piece is inspired by the radical piano work of Eric Satie. Other pieces includes cool, flowing ambiance and cut up's of American, Japanese and European TV and radio broadcasts. There is also his attempt at adding a warm, human element to the often tired Electro- Blip sound. It's packaged in a perfect balance of austere lights and earthy tones in an edition of 500. McMarian -- "Marian Wyjechal (Give Noise A Chance)" -- 3 CD-R -- €10
2010 Impulsy Stetoskopu, 023, (ltd. 120)
Part of the "The Archive Of Polish Industrial Music" series. "McMARIAN was started as a studio project in 1986 by Marcin Bednarski and Piotr Kalinowski. They were occasionally assisted by OJCIEC WAHEHE (of WAHEHE), FRANZ DREADHUNTER (ex DÜPA) and PREZES (of ID). As much as it developed the art concepts of the group WAHEHE (of which Bednarski was a major member), it put forward a completely different aesthetic quality of music. While WAHEHE explored the industrial avant-garde of rock music, both ideologically and musically, McMARIAN dropped the rock tradition and its rebellious platform entirely. Instead, it focused on electronics and the new vistas and possibilities it opened, still fascinated with industrial music's primary ideas: antimusic and an unconventional use of synthesizers. Its main instruments were two analogue synthesizers designed by Kalinowski himself (one consisting of a sequencer, noise generator and a drum machine) and pre-recorded tapes of looped idiosyncratic electroacoustic textures. Their works relied on irregular rhythms of rough sound, often morphing into a sonic cacophony that overpowers snippets of conversations, radio and TV programmes or radio plays for children. This was complemented by an oneiric atmosphere, full of surreal contrasts and Dadaistic absurdities, accentuated by Kalinowski's collage artworks, which have never been published before and several of which are included on this release. Terminated in 1989, the project left very little output." Metal box with booklet.

Murayama, Seijiro / Eric La Casa -- "Supersedure" -- CD -- €10
2009 Hibari Music, hibari-16
Seijiro plays a snare drum (but in far-flung and microscopic ways, mostly unrecognisable) while Erik uses microphones and field recordings – though this won’t give much impression of what’s on the CD, which is in a category of its own – nothing like anything done with a laptop, nothing like acoustic improvising, nothing like electronic music, but rich and organic and often surprising. Unusual and interesting. In a small edition; folded card sleeve. [Rer Megacorp]

Musiikkivyory -- "Tulemme Sokeiksi" -- CD -- €10
2009 Ektro Records, EKTRO-059
Ektro Records is thrilled to release Tulemme sokeiksi (”We’re Becoming Blind”), a retrospective CD compiling material by Musiikkivyöry (”music avalanche”). In addition to being a curious chapter in the endless saga of the post-punk era, this DIY document is also one of the finer, more elusive threads of the global cassette-culture scene. Originally issued in 1981, Musiikkivyöry’s two tapes were the work of Mika Taanila, a 15-year-old who would grow up to become an internationally acclaimed filmmaker. This compilation features the key tracks from those micro-edition bedroom recordings. Musiikkivyöry’s output is typical of the early ’80s’ raw zeitgeist, but with a timeless, teen-anguish twist. Taanila heartily embraces punk’s total do-it-yourself ideal, yet his style is light years away from the conventional guitar groups of the day: Atonal riffs, home electronics, randomly cut-up radio sounds, noise, and primitive industrial weltschmertz blend into a rough, highly personalized whole. Nmperign / Jason Lescalleet -- "Love Me Two Times" -- 2 CD -- €10
2006 Intransitive Recordings, INT026
Intransitive Recordings is very proud to present Love Me Two Times, the highly anticipated double-CD epic by Jason Lescalleet (tapeloops) and nmperign (Bhob Rainey – soprano sax, and Greg Kelley – trumpet). The result of six years of live and studio collaboration, LM2X is by far the most ambitious and uncompromising statement yet by this formidable trio. The album begins as a more-or-less straight documentary-style recording of group improvisation, but don’t get too comfortable – over the course of the next two hours, the ground steadily shifts, the bottom drops out, and any expectations a listener may have had going in are thoroughly trampled. Join the group as they visit art galleries, rock clubs, living rooms, at least one church, and the kitchen of a famous chef, before finally putting a fist through an amplifier. Fans will find the usual ingredients here: crusty old reel-to-reel tape decks, cheap keyboards, amplified and acoustic horns – but rude tape splices, violent humor, and confusingly degraded fidelity push the music far from safe territory. The visceral drama of LM2X does not neatly spell out its intentions, nor does it signal exactly what it has up its sleeve. It exists in its own universe, demands repeat listens and to be taken on its own terms. [press-release]

No Name Desire -- "Wastelands" -- CD -- €10
2004 Monopolrecords, 002, (ltd. 1000)
The band No Name Desire was coming into being during the year 1998. Current crew was complemented in 2001. All the members of the band take part in composing the music. The concert setup is VeNa - keyboards, Neural I - drum pads and Were - vocal. Old school EBM appearence as well as back screen projection corresponding to their music characterize their shows. As for the sound, the band draws on old school EBM especially in the fast and marked rhythms, compact bass line and distorted vocal that NND enriches with elaborate melodic elements. The aim is not the simple machine-like rhythms characteristic for the beginnings of electronic music, but rather emotional dance tracks reflecting the feelings and mood of people on the brink of the age of cybernetics. Lyrics are clearly derived from the cyberpunk literature heritage that has by now become diffused in commercial movies and post-cyberpunk literature, but in the works of EBM bands it survived in its true form, describing the dark vision of a technocratic society governed by multinational corporations and agonized by never-ending internal conflicts. Radiation polluted deserts, cracked walls, desintegrating iron beams as well as shoreless wastelands of the human soul - their new album "Wastelands" contains all of this. [press-release]

Phillips, Dave & R.H.Y. Yau -- "Illusion Is A Natural Condition" -- CD -- €10
2005 Auscultare Research, aus 023, (ltd. 1000)
Dave Philips + R.H.Y. Yau present “Illusion is a natural condition", the long anticipated Phillips + Yau collaborations culled between 2000–2005. Dave Phillips began his musical career when he was 17, co-founding the hardcore extremists Fear of God in 1987. As Fear of God developed Phillips began to see that their faster, shorter, noisier approaches to grindcore were merely a springboard for more psychologically challenging and physically demanding artforms. Soon after Fear of God’s demise in 1989, he joined the actionist Schimpfluch-Gruppe which has followed the traditions of abjection and transgression as dictated by the Viennese Aktionists. Phillips has further developed these transgressions along with sociopolitical actionism in his solo efforts. R.H.Y. Yau is a curator and sound artist who has been active in the sonic arts since 1993. Yau’s sonic works are inspired by sound poetry, actionism, and the processes of musique concrete. But bored by the musique concrete’s academic cliques, Yau creates what he calls “action-concrete.” These organic synapses of voice, body, and raw materiality are then combined with raw electronics to sound experiences of both ultra-violence and absolute absurdity at its most base level. This release features ten lithographic reproductions of original drawings by Leif Elggren. [press-release]

Pjusk is Rune Sagevik and Jostein Dahl Gjelsvik from the west coast of Norway – both from small villages close to nature. This is where most of the music of Pjusk is made – framed by snowy peaks and the sound of cold streams. The album "Tele" (the Norwegian word describing frozen underground water) is a natural progression from the album "Sval" released on the US label 12k in 2010. Inspired by the arctic wilderness, Tele is a journey of snow, ice and cold. [press-release]

Plotkin, James -- "Kurtlanmak / Damascus" -- CD -- €10
2006 Utech Records, URCD001, (ltd. 1000)
James Plotkin began his musical career as the guitarist for metal band OLD with vocalist Alan Dubin. The two would cross paths again under the guise of Khanate. In the interim Plotkin would become involved in projects ranging from guitar bent soundscape and grind to free improvisation. His body of work spans format and label, recording for Avant, Hydra Head, Asphodel, Earache, Southern Lord and Archive among others. Whether writing, performing, or producing, his output has been invariably unique and extreme. Kurtlanmak/ Damascus is no exception. Recorded live in New York and Buenos Aires respectively the tracks show a side of James Plotkin rarely seen, that of the solo artist. Plotkin utilizes two distinct setups for each performance and channels the sound of acoustic instrumentation through the hum of electronic sorcery. Released on Utech Records [022] as Kurtlanmak in the fall of last year, the limited cdr was sold at dates on the Khanate "It's Cold When Birds Fall From the Sky" tour. The music on this edition has been remastered and the packaging expanded. A second, unreleased recording from Argentina is added to complete the disk. [press-release]

Hailing from Buffalo, a city located in the state of New York, PRAYING FOR OBLIVION is a one-man-project runs by Andrew SEAL, a musician now living in Europe. Using various electronic instruments & devices, effects and vocals, he creates noise tracks with strong industrial roots. If you still don't know P.F.O. just imagine the atmosphere of this big city of the North of America: abandoned factories and stores, tons of rusted metal, with parts of the roots falling down, with the wind going through these vast deserted spaces. And this is exactly how this album sounds. The whole release is a scream of anger and despair at the same time, full of abrasive sounds and industrial ambiences. A brillant album from one of the best Power-electronics act of today. Housed in slim DVD case with b&w printed cover. [Nuit Et Brouillard]

Reed, Lou -- "Metal Machine Music" -- CD -- €10
1975/2000 Buddha Records, 74465 99752 2
There is no album in rock & roll like Metal Machine Music. There may be no album that is more rock & roll than Metal Machine Music. Certainly no other rock album by an established star and issued on a major label has generated such mad love and ferocious loathing - sometimes in the same listener - continuously for twenty five years. Rather than using musical instruments or the human voice, Lou Reed chose to stack multiple combinations of reverberating electronic sound, creating a vast, industrial howl. No lyrics, no melodies, just pulsing white noise and pure feedback. The album's impact was monumental, simultaneously presaging punk rock, ambient and industrial music. Metal Machine Music stands as one of the most influential rock albums of all time, while continuing to sound as uncompromising as when you first yanked it off the stereo and ran screaming from the room. This 25th anniversary edition features a new essay by David Fricke, Lou Reed's original liner notes, and deluxe packaging. [press-release]

He then started using his own name with the release of Zona Ventille in 2001 by Elsie and Jack Recordings. While the name changed, the style of music did not. Christian Renou is still putting out very high quality music in the new French tradition. Fragments and Articulations is no exception. [label info]

Renou, Christian / The Bastard Noise -- "Brainstorming II" -- CD -- €10
2009 Housepig, HPIG-20
Christian Renou really should not need an introduction. The French master of detail has been cranking out releases under the name BRUME since the mid-1980's. On "Brainstorming II" THE BASTARD NOISE and Renou prove once again they are capable of creating some of the most haunting and progressive collaborations beheld. Renou brings unnerving rhythms + unsettling concrete sound; Wood fuses insect with cruel-tech; both exponentially more than the sum of their parts. "Brainstorming II" is startling in it's beauty, fascinating in it's discomfort, spacious and intense. Housepig is blessed to deliver sounds of such advanced design. [label info]

S.E.T.I. -- "Baikal" -- CD -- €12
2011 Power & Steel, PAS 31
The aural world of BAIKAL evokes a crystalline landscape full of huge and breathtaking images, guiding the listener to arcane places, lakes and steppes. This new output of Andrew Lagowski aka S.E.T.I. is the result of the examination with the idea of old and sunken crafts being hidden in lakes while surfacing through the water in abandoned areas where only few people would live and survive. Calm and smooth soundscapes and atmospheric synth waves loaded with digitized voices and textured layers of noises and samples. BAIKAL is another step further in S.E.T.I.'s history of deep sounding ambient music. An evolving, moving and skittering Masterpiece! [press-release]

Sabbath Assembly -- "Restored To One" -- CD -- €10
2010 The Ajna Offensive, Flame 58
Restored to One is a modern response to the musical activities of a cult known as The Process Church of the Final Judgment, who used music to spread their visions of Gnostic reconciliation in a time of cataclysmic change. Sabbath Assembly has re-charged the original hymns of The Process Church and worked them into moving renditions that unite the trinity of rock, psychedelic and gospel into one triumphant re-awakening. The Process Church was an intensely creative, apocalyptic shadow side to the flower-powered '60s and New Age '70s. The influential group opened Chapters in London, Europe and across the United States. Dressing in black cloaks and walking the streets with German Shepherds, they created their own intricately designed magazines, and promoted a controversial, quasi-Gnostic theology that reconciled Christ and Satan through deeper awareness and love. Funkadelic reproduced Process writings in two of its albums. The Process Church was accused of being part of a Satanic underground conspiracy by true crime pulps, most notably Ed Sanders’ The Family, which linked the Church to the Manson murders. The insider’s perspective of this secretive group and its true leadership recently emerged with Feral House's LOVE SEX FEAR DEATH: The Inside Story of The Process Church of the Final Judgment, written by former members including Timothy Wyllie, and edited by Adam Parfrey. Produced by Randall Dunn (Sunn O))), Earth, Boris, etc.). [press-release]

Sektor 304 -- "Subliminal Actions" -- CD -- €10
2011 Malignant Records, TUMORCD53
The follow-up to the highly acclaimed Soul Cleansing CD finds Portugals Sektor 304 expanding on all aspects of their debut, once again channeling the essence of the old school guardians (Test Dept, SPK, Crash Worship), while simultaneously exploring new, uncharted territory. Comparatively speaking, Subliminal Actions is a more complete and focused album, with an even better flow than Soul Cleansing and more attention paid to detail, unleashing a cacophonic whirlwind of buzz saw grind, loops, power tools, and scraping, junk metal debris, clashing head on with exertive tribal percussion, clanging oil barrel rhythms, and industrial clamor resonating over a sprawling, post- apocalyptic wasteland. Some tracks, such as the opener, “A Carving on Metallic Flesh”, heap on the scorching noise, while others, such as the resounding, rhythmic driven “By The Throat”, “A Vessel of Guilt”, or “Vultures” are delivered with factory-line precision, laced with grimy layers of bass-heavy dirge, bleak, reverbed squall, and distortion filled, atmospheric drone. Among the many highlights, is the albums closer, “A Prismatic Sun”, a 10 + minute epic excursion into a nightmarish world, populated by whispered vocals and uneasy drift that slowly rises and grows in intensity, climaxing into a blissfully dark and sweaty orgy of low slung bass, ominous, ceremonial drumming, and suffocating darkness... Subliminal Action not only compliments Soul Cleansing, but takes the Sektor 304 sound to new heights, delivering yet striking record sure to solidify their standing as one of premier, truly industrial acts in operation today... 10 tracks, totaling 63 minutes, in 6 panel digipak, mastered by James Plotkin. Sewer Goddess -- "Disciples Of Shit: Live Waste" -- CD -- €10
2011 Black Plagve, Infect08
Having sold out of last year’s With Dirt You Are One CD within a few months span, supreme, Boston based cultists Sewer Goddess return to Black Plagve with Disciples of Shit: Live Waste, a fetid and raw collection of live audio crimes committed over a two year period from 2009-2010. Anyone who has witnessed Sewer Goddess live will generally know what to expect here, which is a more structured take on the death industrial, squalor filled atmospheres they’re known for. A more traditional band format adds layers of distorted and skuzzy bass, crashing percussion, and discordant guitar and meets head on with terrifying, blood curdling screams and the requisite churning mass of post mortem, electronic dirge. 5 tracks, most previously unreleased, that represent Sewer Goddess in the most raw, unclean, and unpolished of states….as if you’d want them any other way! In 6 panel digipak, designed by Andre Coehlo (Sektor 304). [press-release]

SRMeixner -- "Ten Thousand Ways To Die" -- CD -- €10
2010 Segerhuva, SEGER 29, (ltd. 300)
Stephen Meixner (ex-Contrastate) has deepened his exploration of spaghetti western thematics on this album. The tracks herein take as their inspiration the ideas and themes behind the making of the films and the era in which they were made. While the Italo-western genre is often focused on violent dynamics, Meixner's music focuses on haunting and sparse atmospherics yet keeping with the film genre's tendency to always keep things interesting by throwing in both unexpected and unsettling elements. Field recordings, samples and digital manipulation makes up the core of the album, with a distinct, smoothly composed desert flavour. [press-release]

Stelzer, Howard -- "Bond Inlets" -- CD -- €10
2008 Intransitive Recordings, INT030
Ten years after his debut CD, Stone Blind (Intransitive, 1997), Howard Stelzer presents Bond Inlets, his first widely available solo cassette-tape composition. Stelzer, a Boston-based composer and sound artist, was never happy with his previous album and threw away most of the pressing as soon as it returned from the factory. He took the occasion of his label’s tenth anniversary to dissect the source sounds of that work and filter it through the lens of the interceding decade in order to build a piece that more accurately reflects what his intentions were then, and what his aesthetic is today. Bond Inlets is a subtly emotional work of foreground drone that beats its head against the plastic walls of cassette-tape technology, laying bare the physicality of the process of its creation. The dying motors of ancient cassette players, tape-saturated percussion, and blown-out condenser-mic wail are mixed with elements of live tape improvisations and surreptitious field recordings taken in Stelzer’s neighborhood to create deep chasms of no-fidelity murk and evocative hiss. There is an implacable melancholy to Bond Inlets, with fragments of distant melodies that surface briefly only to be subsumed again into the grime. [press-release]

Stormfеgel -- "Eldvakt" -- CD -- €10
2010 Steinklang Industries, SK 51
The new album of the swedish Martial cult-band is out on Steinklang now! Stormfågel are well known from their brilliant two albums on Cold Meat Industry, but the third album even tops the first albums. "Eldvakt" is a incredible mix of early Derniere Volonte and Rome with a strong touch of new Blood Axis. Pure Martial PowerPop at it's very best! Just listen to the mp3s below, you will be amazed! Stormfågel spread its wings for the first time in the autumn of 2004. The creator of Stormfågel, Andreas Neidhardt, acted in several Neofolk and Gothic bands since the early 90s. In February of 2005 Stormfågel released a 3-track demo named "Kinder der Vergangenheiten, Helden aus den grauen Zeiten" and was immediately signed by Swedish record label Cold Meat Industry. During the making of their debut album vocalist Éva Mag joined Stormfågel. In the autumn of 2005 "Den nalkande stormen" (cmi 149) saw the light of day. The reception of the album were overall positive and Andreas and Éva started immediately working on some new material. During this time an old friend to both Éva and Andreas joined Stormfågel; Mikael Bergström. In the spring of 2007 Stormfågel released their second album: "Ett berg av fasa" (cmi 171). This followed by two live performances. In Budapest and at that years WGT in Leipzig. At the Cold Meat Industry festival in Augsburg (17/11 2007) Stormfågel released a 4-track record called "Svenska visor" (Kultur & Politik 003). In december 2007 Éva Mag decided to leave Stormfågel. Stormfågel is and has always been about the love of nature, our history, the absence of God and the decline of mankind. "Ja må vara en wavelmakare men int en happkråka..." [press-release]

Stormloop -- "Snowbound*" -- CD -- €12
2011 Glacial Movements Records, GM0012, (ltd. 500)
Stormloop is Kev Spence from Leeds, England who has been making electronic and ambient recordings since 1999. Snowbound* is his first recording on a record label, and the ambience is in perfect harmony with the icy themes of the Roman Glacial Movements. Snowbound* is a collection of tracks that was recorded in late december 2009, deep snow had fallen that stayed for over two weeks. Composing usually late into the night, watching the heavy snowfalls was the inspiration for these tracks, and the feeling of been lost in some remote cabin, safe but warm, with good food and drink, staring out at the depths of winter snow that covers the land. These crystalline soundscapes, take us from the cold winter nights, then out towards the bleakness of space. Snowbound* is an authentic full-immersion into the cold, and you can really feel the snowflakes on your skin. [press-release]

Strup / MNL9 -- "That Very Time" -- CD-R -- €7
2011 Operator Produkzion, OPERPRODUKT62, (ltd. 87)
Though this one is a split album, it sound surprisingly homogenic. Old-School Industrial mixed with noise, created in the aesthetics of pre-Perestroika Soviet Union, lavishly stuffed with samples of Soviet broadcasts. The results sounds as if Throbbing Gristle, Coil and Test Dept. were some ultra-underground home-recording bands from Siberia (like legendary Grazhdanskaya Oborona). The disc also includes a dada "Antityaxt" written by Noumen. Regular edition in a sleeve. [label info]

Tabata Mitsuru -- "Mankind Spree" -- CD -- €10
2010 Fourth Dimension Records, FDCD75
Mankind Spree is another incredible solo album by Tabata Mitsuru (Acid Mothers Temple, Zeni Geva, etc.), which is every bit as good as one may expect from an artist who has the power and vision to soundtrack time folding in on itself whilst simultaneously pushing the psychedelic envelope into realms where melodies, static white crackle and overflowing rivers of electronics converge like the very points where sanity opens its welcoming hands to madness. Featuring several guests, including Acid Mothers Temple's synthesizer player, Higashi Hiroshi, Mankind Spree comprises seven cuts that cough 'n' splutter over angular rhythms, suck up noise as colourful and beautiful as a perfect rainbow, hit back with some melodic scree and never stray too far from Tabata's keen ear for those rather more avant-strained sensibilities. Similar to Finland's magnificent Circle before him, Tabata's relationship with Fourth Dimension commenced with the release of a now long out of print limited edition 7" single in 1996, 'Children of Woods'. It is good to have him back! [press-release]

2010 Silken Tofu, stx.13, (ltd. 300)
Soon you will die and your lives will have been as nothing is the new album by the UK-based psychedelic/drone/ambient project Temple Music. Stephen Robinson and Alan Trench (known from the dark folk project Orchis) skilfully combine a wide range of acoustic and electronic instruments, field recordings and drones with spoken word, rhythm and chaos, resulting into one long avant-garde soundscape. The vocals are both comforting and unsettling and contribute to an overall magical atmosphere. Introspective and spiritual as well as powerful and energetic, Soon you will die and your lives will have been as nothing will entice the ears and the soul. [press-release]

Terra Sancta -- "Sunken | Buried | Forgotten" -- CD EP -- €7
2011 Malignant Records, TUMORCD51, (ltd. 500)
A brand new CDEP from Terra Sancta, originally planned as part of the next full length release, but the tracks here are significantly different from the newer material being recorded as to warrant a separate release. Sunken|Buried|Forgotten should be seen as a sort of bridge between Terra Sancta's past and future recordings, the three tracks here (total time roughly 23 minutes) representing the heavy droning sound found on particular parts of Disintegration; swaths of roughly textured, post-industrial drift, propelled forth with a massive back weight into a crescendo of epic turbulence, leaving a wake of swirling cosmic debris in its path. Once again, Terra Sancta shows an innate ability to push the limits of what is traditionally considered dark ambient. 4 panel digipak. [press-release]

Terra Teratos –- "Meditations About Secret Of My Dark Destiny. Part Zero" -- CD-R -- €7
2008 B-Rush, B-17
"Meditations About Secret Of My Dark Destiny. Part Zero" is measured and dismal set of speechless tracks entitled like notes in a madman diary. Here is gloomy sound, sometimes analogue, deliberately padded out and imperfect. Here is apocalyptic minimalism, contemplation, monstrous tranquility rarely enlivened by major flashes, like a smile on madman's face before death. To be compared with "Dyatlov's Pass" by Velehentor, but these synth-noise collages contain much more music in terms of dark ambient. [Jul666]

Theodor Bastard -- "Remixed" -- CD -- €10
2011 Theo Records, THEO 002

The artists contributing their take on the collection of remixes include: Animals On Wheels, Up, Bustle And Out, State Of Bengal, Scanner, Flint Glass, Geomatic, Fedayi Pacha, Infinite Scale, Tracing Arcs, Neotropic, EU, Stillife, Altera Forma, Absent One. 6-panel digipak + 12-page booklet. Trostenec / Strup –- split -- CD-R -- €7
2012 Spasi i Sohrani Records
Split of two most outstanding Belarussian industrial projects inspired by modern political state and everyday life in their country. Strup performed three tracks of slow measured Old-School Industrial full of reverberated metallic clanks, meditative and sorrowful musical pieces and voice samples. Trostenec material is based on heavy electo-industrial rhythms with atmospheric sounds, forged in short (2-3 mins.) convincing compositions. Slim-DVD-box, b/w collage cover and an insert. [YAOP]

Trostenec / Strup / Yarn / Sirotek –- split -- CD-R -- €7
2012 Spasi i Sohrani Records
4-way split of two Russian and teo Belarussian projects. Trostenec: mournful Death Industrial with virtuoso atmospheric sound, filled with lots of concrete sounds. Strup: dramatic Old-School Industrial tapestry with almost symphonic progress. The best analogy that comes to mind is SAT Stoicizmo, but the likeness is not in music, but in it's complex structure. Yarn: Dark Ambient track with gurgling acid sounds. Sirotek: Harsh Noise suite in 3 parts with utterly indigestible aggressive sound. Complex handmade package: outer cover made of painted plaster cast with photo-inserts, padding made of dark red fabric, and inner b/w sleeve with infos. [YAOP]

Vice Wears Black Hose is the wall noise supergroup of Richard Ramirez (Black Leather Jesus) and Sam Mckinlay (The Rita, BT.HN) and what they deliver here is another heavy slab of slowly alternating wall noise. It’s a stasis that has been achieved through some kind of strife, like the artist who finally finds solace, not exactly in the way that he thought he would. [Existence Establishment]

Will Over Matter -- "Lust For Knowledge" -- CD -- €10
2011 Freak Animal Records
Freak Animal Records is proud to present new album of Will Over Matter. Band continues its path to new dimensions. Utterly unique approach bordering genius and utterly insane. Making choices that nobody else dares. Will Over Matter's take on esoteric-industrial noise abandons the cliche's of dark ambient/reverb drenched ritual muzak etc. It doesn't sound "retro", yet approach has more in common to M.B. and Musiikkivyöry for example, than contemporary noise. Wolf Eyes -- "Black Wing Over The Sand" -- CD -- €10
2007 iDEAL Recordings, iDEAL046CD / Kning Disk, KD017CD, (ltd. 2000)
Black Wing Over The Sand belongs to one of the band’s more accessible pieces of music, and is an excellent introduction to the dark cosmos of Wolf Eyes. With oscillating movements, Wolf Eyes conjure up short bursts of noise with screaming high pitched tones where a rhythmic deep and slow bass soon sets in, disappears, returns, increases pace, disappears and returns again. Electric guitar, echo effects and sweeping sounds creates powerfully nerved effects over the slow rhythm. [label info]

Strup presents live "iron" Old-School Industrial with marching rhythms, powerful vocals and lots of delay effect. DVD-box. B/w collage artwork by Strup. [YAOP]

Zinc Room -- "Shifting Soil" -- CD -- €10
2012 Evil Dead Productions, EDP 008
New album of a Russian project Zinc Room, which previously released several works on CD-Rs and one split-CD with another Siberian project Carved Image Of Emptiness. Unlike previous works, completely soaked in rusty distorted yell of bass buitar and metal percussion, here the things are less violent. Zinc Room's trademark sound is still here, but now it's become a part of more calm and dark scene created also with the use of synthesizers, recordings of soil, samples and mouth harp. Five unhurried ritual dark ambient composition with strong industrial spirit. Special guest on this album was t.b.Kein (Scratching Soil, Carved Image Of Emptiness, Prognostic Zero).

Convulsive guitar approach, stomp boxes abuse and overgained tube amps. Asley Facchin (UnaLuna, Simmetria Distorta) and Michele Scariot (nodolby) recorded four improvisations inspired by high energy of artists like Haino Keiji, Thurston Moore, Dead C and Borbetomagus. Guitars flow change itself second-by-second moving from ululating tornado of dissonance to abstract pentatonic riffage... the core of the works is to investigate catharsis of free improv at max volume. Pustota -- "Replacement" -- C-45 -- €8
2012 Biosonar^Lo-End, 016, (ltd. 7)
Technological field recordings. Recordings of mechanisms and technical objects working in highly overloaded mode, multiply re-recorded through Soviet tape-recorders and tapes of various brands. Rumble and crackle, clicks and rattling, absorbed by waves of hiss and drone. By conceptual non-intervention in the process of noise-making the many-sided field result was achieved, aside from thechnical interest it can also show the aesthetic and even psychedelic aspects, being a detached acoustic concept. While listening to this material you're not only wasting your precious time, but also getting aesthetic (and physiological - if you amplify it well on your stereo) pleasure, which is strengthened with additional options: ultra-limited edition and DIY fetish-artwork with postcards in cardboard box with absurd collage insert. [press-release]

Pustota -- "Stratification" -- 2 x C-40 -- €8
2012 Biosonar^Lo-End, 015, (ltd. 13)
Continuation of the series of highly conceptual recordings. Both cassettes are the result of multiple (dozens of times) cyclic re-recordings of five empty audio cassettes made in USSR, step by step distortion of upsound based on defects of tape and commutation, partly electrostatic effects and effect of electromagnetic interference amplified by a tube preamp inserted between the tape recorders. Cassette 1 presents high frequency hiss and rustle, cassette 2 - low frequency drone obtained by re-recording of cassette 1 through a rumple tape turned to reverse side. Conceptually the release is intended for simultaneous listening of both tapes on parallel magnetophones, but sequential order is also possible. Ultra-limited edition and DIY fetish-artwork in a cardboard box. [press-release]

Pustota -- "Vasilyevskiy Island Overload" -- C-45 -- €8
2012 Biosonar^Lo-End, 017, (ltd. 9)
Undulatory rumbling crunch of clipping overload, distorted drones and roraing buzzes. The concept of minimal participation in the process of sound derivation. Aesthetics of utterly useless pastime, equal to any other pastime, as much useless. The box will take some space on a shelf which is also definitely the advantage of this release. Ultra-limited edition and DIY fetish artwork in a cardboard box with a set of useless inserts. [press-release]

Strup –- "The All-Kindness and Half-Love" -- MC -- €5
2011 Depressive Illusions Records, cut 435, (ltd. 100)
Beautiful Power Electronics / Death Industrial album brewed on dense viscous rumble, multiple psychedelic sound effects, brutal roar instead of vocals and historical soundscapes. Worth mentioning is verbal contents which goes beyond the limits of "song lyrics" and belongs to some kind of visionary poetry. [YAOP]

Strup -- "Everybody Die Young" -- MC -- €5
2011 Depressive Illusions Records, cut 413, (ltd. 100)
A gorgeous album, true discovery-2010 for the post-Soviet noise scene! Lo-fi collage noise material built on multiple samples from Soviet records from 70-80-s, concrete & field recordings and talented author's poems read in a very expressive way (resembling Egor Letov...). The result is a haunting weirdly atmospheric work, a kind of caleidoscopic dream with cuts from Veprisuicida and unforgettable breakthroughs of the project Communism. Psychedelic "babyphone" for thirtysomething people. Cassette reissue of a cult album. B/w cover. [YAOP]

Strup -- "Shelter (Priyut)" -- MC -- €5
2011 Depressive Illusions Records, cut 414, (ltd. 100)
[Post]-Soviet Power Electronics, like lessons of "civil defense" ("grazhdanskaya oborona") during the times of the Cold War, where kids were taught how to quickly put on gas masks and get into a bomb shelter at the signal of air attack. Psychedelic like all Tarkovsky movies together, brutal like devices made by Soviet tank-tractor factories. Wild retrograde sound in vein of Throbbing Gristle of 70ies, archive samples, bass noise and feedbacks, detached depressive female and aggressive male voices, reading and shouting existential texts, inexpected intervention of guitar music in vein of Ildjarn. B/w cover + paper sheet with lyrics. [YAOP]

Strup / Baculum / Alisa-Yhtye / Obozdur -- split -- C-40 -- €5
2011 self-released
Surprisingly monolithic Harsh Noise split of four projects from Russia, Belarus and USA. B/w cover. [YAOP]

Aghiatrias -- "Ethos" -- CD -- €10
2006 Epidemie Records, EPR 054, (ltd. 500)
The fourth and as before thematic album of the Czech formation Aghiatrias, accomplishing its own concept of so-called integrated music that represents a confrontation in broad dimensions of contemporary classics, dark-ambient, noise and industrial. The central motif of this album is the refusal of broadly accepted materialistic view of the world and its future, demonstration of awareness of historical lapse of the human in relation to that what transcends him, well thought out attack against the "soul swallowers" supporting pathological mechanisms of hidden, nevertheless sophisticatedly planned process leading to the suppression of spirituality. The album is revocation and update of time-honored, in prism of today mistakenly as if mythical and therefore for many not existing combat of the good and the evil in the individual. Digipak. Andersson, Peter -- "Music For Film And Exhibition II" -- CD -- €13
2010 Old Europa Cafe, OECD 135
Like baking a sweet cake or cooking an indian dish you need good ingredients and spices to get the right mouthfeel and the splendid flavor of your desire. 'Music for Film and Exhibition II' is just like that: a levelled declitre of raison d'etre, a brimful tablespoon of Atomine Elektrine, a couple of teaspoons of Necrophorus and a little bit of this and little bit of that, mixed into a perfect blend of many tastes. Peter Andersson, well-known from projects like Raison d'etre, Stratvm Terror, Necrophorus and Atomine Elektrine, shows here broad spectrum of sonic atmospheres, like if all of his different music projects were combined into one. From ambient-drone-textures and electronic chill-out to concrete sounds to even pure atmopsheric piano tunes. 'Music for Film and Exhibition II' is the sequel of 'Music for Film and Exhibition' (Yantra Atmospheres, 2007). While the previous output contains collected works from different exhibition projects and movies spanning from 1999-2005, this sequel is focused on one single project; an exhibition. Peter Andersson has lately worked as a media producer at Swedish Air Force Museum and being involved with their new large permanent exhibiton about the Cold War. Within this project Peter has worked with sound design and movie production in particular. The sonic results are presented on 'Music for Film and Exhibition II'. Some of the tunes are used as soundtrack for exhibition movies while the main part are sonic atmospheres and soundscapes to create the ambience of the exhibition rooms. The music is presented here as stand alone productions, displaced from its original context. To fully experience the music in its environmental Raison d'etre there is no other way but to travel to the Swedish Air Force Museum. Until then, you may enjoy the music on its own. The CD comes in a six panel digipak covered with beautiful Sunset painting by italian artist Christian Montagna/FLOODSart. [press-release]

2011 Silentes Minimal Editions, sme 1038
Thick and spectral dark ambient, full of soft and flowing pads stratifications, involved in deep and penetrating low frequences coils, lightened by delicate and touching melodic inserts, broken by echoes of reverbering mettallic noises, clanging chains, circular mechanical movements, waves of unaudible hisses, distant and suffering human voices... Band Of Pain -- "Sacred Flesh (Original Movie Soundtrack)" -- CD -- €10
2000/2010 Cold Spring, CSR33CD, (ltd. 666)
On Friday 14th April 2000, the film SACRED FLESH finally premiered at the ABC Piccadilly cinema for a two week stint, before being shown at cinemas across the country. It was delayed for a while as the BBFC decided on whether to grant a certificate for screening, or to ban it altogether! Finally, with a few edits they gave it an 18 certificate. The soundtrack was written by BAND OF PAIN, creating a very dark, brooding atmosphere to compliment Nigel Wingroves' film. Originally with a 16-page booklet depicting explicit scenes from the film (generallt cute lesbian conventuals - M.M.), pressure from the distributors forced the artwork into a revised 4-page version. SACRED FLESH is dark journey into realms of mental anguish and repression; a very Black Ambient soundtrack. At last, BAND OF PAIN is working in the medium to which its most suited. An incredible new album with massive demand from both film and music distributors alike. 10 year anniversary edition of 666 copies! [label info]

Bladh, Martin -- "Dirge; The Peter Sotos Files" -- CD -- €10
2008 Freak Animal Records, FA-CD-042
Martin Bladh of IRM with samples & spoken word from author Peter Sotos. [label info] "While I was working on the Swedish translation of Peter's excellent book Selfish, Little: the Annotated Lesley Ann Downey, I found that I couldn't get enough of this unsafe, highly personal world, and got the ugly idea to make my own piece based upon it. Since I love the buyer's marked material I asked Peter for the permission to do a recording centered on his private universe. He agreed and sent me a load of sound- and video clips, which he'd collected and put into context. I guess it's fair to call this album a conceptual piece, but I want to point out that it is foremost my own personal take on Peter's work and he should not be held responsible for anything I've done. Big thanks to Peter who made this recording possible. Martin Bladh, Norrköping, June 2008."

Blood Box -- "The Iron Dream" -- CD -- €12
2004 Eibon Records, Blo047
Bringing dark ambient to a new dimension... Coming from the genius mind of Michael JV Hensley (YEN POX & HOLLOW EARTH), BLOOD BOX became a sort of CULT for the dark ambient freaks thanks to the previous cd "A world of hurt", whose monstrously deep droning ambient created an ideal soundtrack to the apocalypse. A million miles away from earth, in the empty vaults of space, where collapsing stars cry and solar winds blow, BLOOD BOX captures the anxiety of a moaning universe. The chants of a dying supernova, the sound of a multi-dimensional worm-hole, where gravitational gradients capture light and turn it into a formless singularity... To the end of night... [label info]

2008 No Fun Productions, NFP32
Further exploring the collaborative powers of Illusion Of Safety mastermind Dan Burke and prolific sound crafter Thomas Dimuzio, Upcoming Events is an unending spur of equal parts gorgeous and uncomfortably perplexing sound spread of 15 tracks. Crackles of electronic fire, tremolo-infused waves of sustained guitar, broken music boxes and found sounds among all other sorts of unfounded wails of gargantuan melancholy drone, Burke and Dimuzio's collaboration is a forceful collection of early industrial sound ruination combined with classic Krautrock ambiance of the Tangerine Dream/Cluster ilk reassuringly composed into something wholly modern and powerful. Catatonic Factum -- "s/t" -- CD-R -- €8
2008 Operator Produkzion, OPERPRODUKT45, (ltd. 45)
Painted in cold sullen colours of non-agressive Industrial, icy Space Ambient and sometimes even brutal Harsh Noise, this album is a documentary precise portrait of the civilization in the end of Kali-Yuga, the hell on Earth, the most horrible anti-utopia which became the reality. Gloomy reign of machines managing everything, zombie people dully doing their work in hope to damp their fear of themselves for at least an hour, cybersystems without masters, because everyone - from the almighty corporation heads to the last bums - are the slaves of the idiotic solidarity of weakness. Gmashes and rustles of the unknown aggregates, morse peeps, radio intercepts of office talks (which stink of depression and fear much more than any contemporary "suicide rock"). Even the appeal to the glorious pages of the national history is impregnated with pompous hollywood reek of mass-culture. A remarkable audio-film about our common concentration camp. Strongly recommended. 45 copies are packed in the pages and photos from the report of the US Mine Department of the Interior from 1973. Each copy is unique. [press-release]

Changes -- "Lament" -- CD -- €12
2010 Hau Ruck!, HR!94
From Changes' inception, R. N. Taylor and Nicholas Tesluk have woven bardic tales of gallantry, chivalry and of larger-than-life legendary and mythical heroes. They've sung of new love, love unrequited and love lost. They've written songs painting sonic imagery foretelling a dark apocalyptic future, which later came to pass while currently prophesying a society in the seminal stages of an even darker fate. With their new album, Lament, they turn their gaze inward, to their own personal apocalypses, stemming from their long marriages ending in dismal dissolution. They tell of their dark, oppressive inner-world that sought to drive them beyond the brink of despair. Only by being able to immerse themselves in their art and create works expressing these sorrows would they be able to maintain their sanity. Lament reaches out to all who've had their lives disrupted by modern societal partners going through mid-life crises, becoming antagonistic strangers to their families overnight. The song entitled "The Invisible Man" tells a tale based on H. G. Wells' novel with a personal twist. In their song "Emily", the historical figure of poetess Emily Dickinson comes to life. The "Mountains of Sorrow (Remix)", is an instrumental song enhanced by the deft arrangement, musicians and singers of Der Blutharsch with a voice-over by R. N. Taylor of his heart-rending lyric poetry. Also included, new versions of three of Changes' earlier works; "The Saddest Thing", "Sweet Eve" and "Memorabilia" as these songs merged well with the album's concept. Lament is sixty-four minutes in length with thirteen tracks. Comes in nice Digipak with a sixteen page liner booklet. [press-release]

Circular -- "Shaping the Unknown" -- CD -- €12
2006 Loki Foundation, loki 44
The debut album of Circular defines an opulent style of meditative ambient music and celebrates the pure sound engines of perfect analogue synthesizer music. Johannes Riedel created an elegant and stylish form of drone music to build ellipses in-between sculptures blowing through the triangular center. This aural paintings discover sacred landscapes of drifting loops, analogue synthesizers and the brilliant use of guitars to set up an unearthly visionary wall of sound. The method of Circular's music dispose a special principle where tracks build up slowly and take the period of concentration, of taking shape, followed by overwhelming massive soundworlds from outer states. Sounds are swirling around the cuboid and adhere at the cognition through unique scapes of the swelling and digressing resonance. [press release]

Dead Land -- "Harbingers..." -- CD-R -- €8
2009 Operator Produkzion, OPERPRODUKT36, (ltd. 36)
Death Ambient с with obscure raw industrial sound. This is the debute album of this project and it represents the research of the phenomenon of a harbinger-man, a harbinger of storm, war, chaos... it's divided into 3 parts: birth, where life meets death and youth with decrepitude; boyhood, where a man closes himself inside settling down in solitude; and finally the third stage - madness, where reality borders with dreams and where this man is born - a Harbinger... Among the influences the author mentions Oophoi, Klaus Wise, Staruha Mha, John Grzinich. Package: handmade sleeve with a slit and info-sticker, made of textured cardboard with fabric and spattered with ink + printed insert with photo and track-list. [press-release]

Dead Man's Hill -- "Dog Burial" -- CD -- €12
2007 Old Europa Cafe, OECD 092
7th full length album for Dead Man’s Hill! Far more violent and darker atmosphere than ever before. This entire album handles about the loss of nature, all the people who destroy it, knowing and unknowing what they’re doing. Further it handles also about nature making conspiracies with the Loa’s to let mankind disappear from the earth. The music sounds like a storm wiping away everything in the neighbourhood. Extremely dark classical death industrial with choirs, the voice of the Apocalypse telling people in their dreams how it all will evolve, magical and Black Metal atmospheres... For all lovers of "In Slaughter Natives"! Art-work presenting a series of magnificent Caravaggio paintings! [press-release]

Deutsch Nepal -- "Erosion" -- CD -- €10
1999/2009 Autarkeia, ACD 035
This probably the most depressing Deutsch Nepal album, earlier released as a limited edition by Staalplaat company, now has again become available to a wide audience. Genial project author Der General has made a remark sometime ago that during the recording of Erosion there persisted the feeling that this is the last work of Deutsch Nepal after which nothing will remain... perhaps only death. This almost came true as Deutsch Nepal went silent after the recording for nearly 10 years. Now the masterpiece of melancholy clad in an elegant digipack (the design was made by the author himself) and with an enhanced sound triumphantly opens the golden worlds to the audience again. The worlds where breathing becomes harder each moment and where you feel only a small useless toy. [press-release]

Deutsch Nepal -- "Tolerance" -- CD -- €10
1994/2009 Autarkeia, ACD 037
The genial album Tolerance is one more golden deja vu of the industrial culture, released by Staalplaat label long ago, sold out and desperately sought and hunted in auctions by collectors. The new release of the cult album enjoys the enhanced sound and the new package design from the author Lina Baby Doll. And this time it does not come out in limited edition like its predecessor. The new generations can get it without limitations. Those who do not know Lina Baby Doll’s masterpieces, should be informed that Tolerance is an artefact of the early stage of project’s Deutsch Nepal music. The period is characterised by ritual tribal rhythms, mesmerising loops and indeed suggestive psychedelic atmosphere. [press-release]

Dimuzio, Thomas -- "Sonicism" -- 2 CD -- €12
1997 RRRecords, RRR-CD-22
The name of Thomas Dimuzio may not be unfamiliar to anyone with an eye open for the more serious composing underground artists. I particular liked his LP 'Headlock' which came out years ago. Dimuzio plays around with a wide variety of sound sources, including things we would recognize as instruments, like acoustic guitar and clarinet but also a wide variety of field recordings. It blows me away totally. Great walls of sounds, slowly building to a high point, to be cut off extremely, only to be followed by soft, environmental recordings (like on disc 2, with the fourth track being rain, thunder and bees). If ever 'ambient' was something, this is it. This plays around with droning sounds and ambient alike. [Frans de Waard, Vital Weekly]

DSO is the musical offshot of mysterious Institut Drahomira, known for its cinematographic, literary, political and criminal activity, which nevertheless comes beyond our interest. This ensemble was formed in the mid 80's, but the name wasn't mentioned anywhere until the end 90's, when some works was published by labels like Vacuum and Flesh Eating Ants Records. The overall number of albums recorded since then, is near thirty! But most of them are still unreleased and waiting for the lucky moment to see the daylight, as the official website says. They are looking for interested labels, offering their material for a prominent release. One of the first voices around, that was Moscow based label Waystyx, recently interested in analogue soundings and old-school recording techniques quite common for the 80's/90's underground scene. "The Return of 120 Magicians" is an unique, really peculiar album, which can't be compared with anything else. It could be described as mysterious combination of collage recording technique and analogue electronica, the boiling mix of avantgarde, surrealism, nostalgia and grim humour. Musicwise, the structure of tracks is dispersed between several patterns and fragments, repeated sounds that are varied in details, they are swirling around and above you, creating hypnotizing and haunting atmosphere which will overwhelm you since the very beginning. Retro aesthetics, electronic permutations of analogue sources, reviving samples and percussive stringed sounds - all these components are doing the excellent job together, so we must say this one is one of the best albums of the year. [Dmitry Vasilyev, "Independent Electronic Music"]

Due Process -- "Combine I -- XVIII" -- CD -- €10
1995 RRRecords, RRR-CD-20
Ahh. Here's some serious art damage that careens from ambient industrial to the astringent squonks, bleeps and clamor of '60s avant-garde to the angst-ridden sonic shards and noisy electronic reflections of the post-industrial mess we find ourselves in now. Featuring Tom Dimuzio, Ron Lessard (the man behind RRRecords) and John Wiggins, Due Process knows how to crank it out. While they can create a terrific din, the music actually leans a bit in the ambient direction, with lower dynamics and muffled timbres, albeit with a raucous pandemonium of noise just beneath the surface. [Dean Suzuki, Option]

Egoproblem (Lasse Marhaug) -- "Exit Tape Kill" -- CD -- €10
1997/2010 Freak Animal Records
Year 1994 in Norway. Lasse Marhaug has yet to start working under his own name. Obscure short lived project just before that, titled Egoproblem releases one 20 minute tape and performs one live gigs. This CD collects those materials, presenting the most straight forward industrial/power electronics works of Lasse Marhaug. In total c. 40 minutes of simple but effective works full of hard tones and metal banging. Tape/Exit/Kill from original DAT tape, live recording with decayed and crude industrial-noise attack! Including liner notes by the artists. [label info]

Emeralds -- "Solar Bridge" -- CD -- €10
2008 Hanson Records, HN 183, (ltd. 1000)
HANSON RECORDS is proud to announce EMERALDS - SOLAR BRIDGE, the trio's first full-length album after numerous cassette and cd-r releases on such labels as American Tapes, Chondritic Sound, and the bands own imprints Wagon and Gneiss Things. The album opens with the side long 'MAGIC' where the band builds a quiet drone into an extreme thick sawblade of swirling noise as beautiful as it is menacing. The flip is yet another sidelong journey titled 'THE QUAKING MESS', a track that stabs your brain with fluttering sparks of synthesized needles before relaxing you into a Göttsching-esque dream state while slowly bringing you back to earth with an electronic wave of molten rumble. Fans of the smooth tones of 'New Age Of Earth' era Ash Ra Tempel and the buzzing thick drones of Throbbing Gristle's 'Heathen Earth' should take note, as EMERALDS may be their new source for electronic drugs. Folkstorm -- "Information Blitzkrieg" -- CD -- €10
1999/2000 Old Europa Cafe, OECD 028, 2nd. ed.
Folkstorm is the solo project of Mr. Kremator Nordvargr, mind of MZ.412! The sounds on this album are quiet different and not related to MZ.412, although this is heaviest power-electronics and old school industrial... ranging from real beating tracks to more noisy ones with lots of sampled voices! a masterpiece of new industrial muzak, no politics, no religion, no standard. The first 470 copies was sold during the pre-seals, second print available... [press-release]

Gelsomina -- "Nostalghia" -- CD -- €10
2004/2006 Cipher Productions, (sic 28) / Musically Incorrect Records, MIRCD2, (ltd. 500)
The name Gelsomina was encountered before, on a bunch of CDR compilations from Finnish Musically Incorrect Records, who also released 'Rautavaara'. The first ten tracks on 'Nostalgia' were originally released by Smell The Stench in 2004 as a cassette. Gelsomina is the nom de plume for Pekka PT, who is credited for 'noise' and noise is what we get. Loud obnoxious feedback and distortion, the full works are here. Unlike others in this field, Gelsomina has 'depth', has 'variation' and has 'skil' - three factors not always present in the work of the lesser imaginative noise makers. Even when Gelsomina walks the paths of noise that is now paved like a highway and no longer a 'find your way in the bush', he still does a pretty fine job, pretty much along the lines of a good Merzbow. One of the better noise makers I encountered recently. [Vital Weekly]

Generic -- "Torture" -- CD -- €10
2008 Fractured Spaces Records, FS0208CD, (ltd. 1000)
Genre: Creepily atmospheric dark ambient. For its second release, Fractured Spaces Records couldn't have chosen a better one: Generic's "Torture", a long and deeply unsettling journey into the beating black heart, and Antarctic iciness of the collective shattered psyche, of mankind. Created using 'foley tracks' and sound effects (used for both film and television), as well as the occasional guitars, bass, and found sounds, it all combines to produce a haunting, nerve-shredding, ghostly and schizophrenic soundtrack, guaranteed to simultaneously freeze the heart and mind, and induce cold sweat to bead the forehead and shivers to wrack the body. Six mid to long tracks of bleak mindscapes totalling just over 50 minutes and wrapped in beautiful full colour digipak with artwork by new German digital artist Thamus. Generic is Adam Sykes and is based in the United Kingdom's West Country. He also records as Ritual Summertime and ran the Iris Light label, releasing artists of the calibre of Aube, Band of Pain, Crackletone, Dense Vision Shrine, and Front 242. [press-release]

The result is a deep labyrinth of sounds with meditative percussions, ghostly vocal fragments and singings which melts with detailed and multi-layered tones of various traditional instruments. All this is constructed around a core of dark and ongoing floating drones creating an atmosphere of true archaic music which has been developed by Herbst9 to perfection. With this stunning collaboration the dark cavernous drones and ethnic-ritual instrumentation of Herbst9 melts with the complex and percussive sounds of industrial pionier and master of rhythmajik Z'EV. Ten tracks of deep spheres and blazing ruminant lightnings abducting you into golden constellations and swirling worlds full of aural effects and demonic resonance. Both projects worked with raw material of each other while the final mix was made by Herbst9. The result is a sombre and meditative soundtrack made with gongs, choral textures, deep vibrating strings and scraping effect-sounds reaching it's climax with outbursting tribalistic sequences and drummings. An impressive and gripping journey through bleak landscapes and abandoned places accompanied by a 24-pg booklet. [press-release]

Inade -- "The Crackling Of The Anonymous" -- CD -- €12
2001 Loki Foundation, LOKI 29
After 5 years since the last studio album Aldebaran, we can finally announce the release of a new full lenght work. With The Crackling Of The Anonymous, Inade move beyond all pre-conceived notions of sonic creativity. The plethora of puzzle pieces that interconnect in the expanding universe that Inade unwaveringly explores have grown amorphous, no longer defined by distinct outlines, melding as one whole, obscure entity. The expansion comes in many levels, incorporating the vast parameters of time, dimension and reality as viable participants in Inade's aural objective: to shine a light on the enigmatic unknown and give it a vague silhouette. The dark and hallucinatory masterwork that is The Crackling Of The Anonymous, is constructed via the never heard utterances of the void, while tapping into the psyche of the impossible. A stunning release that defies all logic because it creates its own! [press-release]

Inade -- "The Incarnation Of The Solar Architects" -- CD -- €12
2009 Loki Foundation, LOKI 50
There is a world that shadows our world, a world of mysterious design and unspoken secrets, of space that breathes and infinite echoes that never cease to cry. Mirrors that refract images into dark pools of cosmic nothingness. Inade explore these worlds on their latest masterpiece, The Incarnation of the Solar Architects, in which sound is utilized in a transformative manner, not only to focus on that which lies beyond and that which has never been seen, but to embrace the Darkness and let it wash over one's soul. The mythology that Inade has created touches that place beyond forever, yet now, through the insistence of that which lurks in the margins, a metamorphosis has transpired, in which the cosmos of self has awakened. If one believes that God is everywhere, so is the Darkness that came before Him. A Darkness thriving with anonymous ideals (the possibilities are endless... ) and devious intentions, resplendent with mystical creatures that shamble through antediluvian kingdoms constructed from polished metal, luxurious crystals, and unlimited dreams... though one would need new eyes to see them, and new ears to hear them. Inade provide the soundtrack--the frisson of unease is abundant, a churning, seething dread that veers into awe. It's up to the individual listener to listen intently, behind shuttered eyelids... to see and experience the true labyrinthine hierarchy of black splendor that awaits. [press-release]

Inade -- "Samadhi State" -- CD -- €12
2006/2008 Loki Foundation, LOKI 41
A Japanese edition of collected studio works from the last years, recorded during several sessions and rehearsals at the Light Channel. Remixed, re-constructed and re-edited in 2005. This release was accompaning the Spring Equinoxe concert in Tokyo and is now available outside of Japan as well. "Samadhi State" is illuminating the space of reality and the luminous arcs of dreams. Samadhi is a over-conscious experience that lies beyond waking, dreaming, and deep sleep. The realisation made in Samadhi is numinous realisation. A perfect condition in vigil, a condition of absolute consciousness. It is the final goal of everything and the highest form of self-possession, in the sense of collecting all the faculties of the constitution towards reaching union or quasi-union, long or short in time as the case may be, with the divine-spiritualЕ Life in the spirit is not fading. If the restrictions of the empirical being are exceeded, the universal life is intensified. The life becomes cosmical and even hypercosmical. The Samadhi State is neither guards nor dreams it is the fourth dimension, where the infinite eternity prevails. [press-release]

K2 -- "In the Monotonous Flowers" -- CD -- €10
2002 Ground Fault Recordings, GF022
The master of Junk Metal noise offers a completely different experiment with this Groundfault CD release. There is no outright sonic assault, no continuous crash of metal-on-metal within K2's In the Monotonous Flowers, (though the metal destroying K2 does make several appearances within this recording) this release showcases K2's approach to cut-ups and sound collage. This is a quieter (at times), more constructed look at sound using a variety of sources, from lo-fi to crisp and loud from effected music and found sound, to confused conversation and clamor. K2 shapes each piece by randomly bouncing from source to source, using panning, echo, and saturation to never let the listener's ear settle into a comfortable feeling for long if at all. KK Null -- "Galactic Tornado" -- CD -- €10
2008 Quasi Pop Records, QPOP CD051, (ltd. 500)
The album “Galactic Tornado” by Mr. Kazuyuki Kishino (KK NULL) presents the deep, dense & dynamic electronic music. It's unconditional, intuitive and highly emotional excellent audio-work. Combining synthetic sounds from various synthesizers and electronic machines with acoustic audio signals, the composer explores (from his own point of view) some artistic values of “psychedelic electronic sound” that were widly presented on space/electronic/kraut albums from 70s. Naturally, this CD could be recommended for listeners who prefer the contemporary experimental sound in its highest quality and for fans of “retro spacey” sound from the groups such as Popol Vuh, Cluster or even Tangerine Dream as well. Luxurious 6-panels digipack with silver lettering and spot varnishing feautures artwork with images done by Kazuyuki Kishino. [press-release]

Lopez, Francisco -- "Amarok" -- CD -- €12
2010 Glacial Movements Records, GM007
Francisco Lopez is known all over the world as one of the main figures of all time experimental music. He performed in hundreds lives, projects and sound-sets in 60 countries of 5 continents and his huge discography has been released by more than 200 labels all over the world. His musical universe moves from human-ear limits to the deepest abysses of sonorous power and it is mostly composed of field recordings caught along the wildest areas of Earth or between the sounds of industrial world... For “Amarok” composition two years of hard work have been employed using sounds and processed field recordings. It’s a unequalled conceptual soundscape in this artist’s huge discography and it perfectly joins to Glacial Movements aesthetics. After a few seconds from the track beginning we are dip into an arctic trip which lasts more than an hour and in which tangled weavings in a masterly fashion handled by the Spanish artist appear, develop and dissolve. Gusts of arctic wind, the Amarok’s wheezing breath (Amarok is the name of a gigantic wolf in Inuit mythology) and the sense of loss in the polar night are only some of the sensations that this cryogenic hallucinatory acustic is able to evoke. “Amarok is probably one of the more isolationist and spookiest work I’ve ever done” Francisco Lopez, march 2009. Machinefabriek -- "Vloed" -- CD -- €10
2010 Cold Spring, CSR138CD
'Vloed' is a collection of (slightly edited) live performances, recorded between 2006 and 2008 in Amsterdam and Den Haag. "All performances find Machinefabriek in fine form, offering up thick billows of warm guitar shimmer, fluttery staticky ambience, and at one point some uncharacteristically heavy super distorted metallic guitar, but here, it's not so much metal as simply a mighty drone, thick and throbbing and super intense. There are long stretches of near silence and super minimal high end drone, glimmering slow building crescendos, squalls of distorted choral buzz, warm whirring metallic reverberations, shimmery and dense black dronemusik, all the stuff we love about Machinefabriek" (Aquarius). Beautifully remastered with a 20-minute bonus track, 'Vloed' captures the immersive live experience of a Machinefabriek concert. Presented in a stunning matt digipak with modified artwork. Marchetti, Lionel & Capparos, Olivier + Higashi, Yoko -- "A Blue Book" -- CD -- €16
2011 Waystyx, WR68, (ltd. 294)
The compositions recorded by the musicians in various years show wide range of contemporary experimental music. Here one can find the eternal Marchetti's interest in "musique concrete", electroacoustics of French school, academic vanguard of Capparos... His piano parts, like slowly dispersing circles on water, interact perfectly with rustling radionoises, crystal vibrant ambient and voice of a small girl, creating fragile and elusive music filled with always changing images, pieces of phrases and charm of Christmas chorals. The music which can be called "intimate", as it's so close and pleasant. The title track "A Blue Book" is a symphony which can be created by almost anyone by twisting knobs of a radio receiver and travelling through fragments of transmissions catching pieces of phrases, melodies with long pauses on "empty" waves, listening to only hypnotic mysterious crackles and trying to understand who or what is sending these signals. For Capparos this becomes an analogue of human memory which randomly extracts from its bank fragments of recollections, echoes of sounds, flashes of vivid experiences and lingering tension. The three-part piece "Tenebrae" for string quartet, composed by Olivier in 2008, shows the other side of his creativity - this is academic music for conservatory halls, resembling (not only because of similarity of sound, but mostly because of the feeling of almost religious ecstasy able to capture the listener entirely) the works of such aknowledged masters as Arvo Part... Marchetti and Higashi join forces to work over only one piece "A Short Story" based on recording of human voice made in 1860. Abstract sounds which Lionel derives from the synthesizer neighbour with Yoko's voice, mild as if stroking your hair drone, noise and crackle of interference and that fragment of a 150-year old recording where woman sings a lullaby... Delicate, multi-faceted and very personal work. [maeror3.livejournal.com]

Menche, Daniel -- "The Face of Vehemence" -- CD -- €10
2002 Ground Fault Recordings, GF019
My influence and inspiration for "The Face of Vehemence" is the book "Sun and Steel" by Yukio Mishma. The CD title "Face of Vehemence" is basically what I see in Yukio Mishimas face; especially on the book cover. Almost all of his photos he has that "face of vehemence". When I finally read his book "Sun and Steel" it was like a "take the words out outa my mouth" experience but articulated absolutly perfectly in a manner I could never do with words. How he percieved "words" in relating to the flesh is how I percieve "sound" in relating to the flesh. Yukio Mishmas attitude towards art/flesh/death/spirit is highly inspiring towards my music. Menche, Daniel & Mizutani, Kiyoshi -- "Garden" -- CD -- €10
2003 Auscultare Research, aus 019
For this collaboration CD called "Garden" Daniel Menche and Kiyoshi Mizutani used an interesting concept. Menche took care of the low end of the frequencies, while Mizutani did the high end of the frequencies. Daniel Menche is well known for his low rumbling soundscapes, while Kiyoshi Mizutani usually operates in the mid-range of our hearing. Both artists use found or environmental sounds and manipulate these to create their music. "Garden" contains lots of sounds that sound like they have been recorded by Mr. Mizutani in a Japanese garden, chittering birdsounds or perhaps the sounds of insects that turns into a hissing drone. This chittering and hissing is accompanied by the unrecognisable low rumblings by Daniel Menche. This one track soundscape takes a bit more than an hour and starts quite gentle. Towards the end, however, it becomes more and more threatening. In all this is a very exciting and interesting release, which is less dark than Menche's usual output and a bit darker than Mizutani's releases and is both meditative and unnerving at the same time. Merzbow -- "Batztoutai With Material Gadgets" -- 2 CD -- €13
1986/2005 RRRecords, RRR-CD-06

Merzbow -- "Scene" -- CD -- €9
2005 Waystyx, WR11
Recorded in November 2004, this material is not remarkable for it's brutality, rather on the contraty, sometimes it reminds quite normal music. The album is filled with straight rhythmic moments and ambient diffusions, but of course Masami Akita couldn't do it without good noise flavouring even here.

Merzbow / Carlos Giffoni / Jim O'Rourke -- "Electric Dress" -- CD -- €10
2007 No Fun Productions, NFP-15
Electric Dress covers the full spectrum of sound color possibility, from totally brutal walls of destructive noise to beautiful minimal synthetic interplay, analog drone and shifting alien electronics. A total face melting collaboration recorded live in Tokyo using an array of analog synths and a variety of custom analog equipment, including Merzbow's classic home made spring/junk metal instrument. Warm, varied, and obsessive this is what industrial music should have been, the sound of infinite machines demolishing a planet and creating a new structure where live organisms have been eradicated. Edited and mastered by Jim for maximum sonic annihilation. [press-release]

MZ.412 -- "Burning The Temple Of God" -- CD -- €10
1996/2010 Cold Spring, CSR140CD
This is the ultimate statement in Swedish Black Industrial, summoning forth the act's controversial black metal side and recalling the Norwegian church burnings of the early 90s. Nightmare inducing ritual old school industrial, alongside raw black metal, this album has been hailed as one of the greatest albums in the genre by noise and black metal fans alike! It could actually be considered the first real crossover album between the genres. Remastered and extended version of the 1996 album with bonus tracks and alternate takes culled from the original masters. Housed in a matt laminate digipak with spot varnishing. [press-release]

MZ.412 -- "In Nomine Dei Nostri Satanas Luciferi Excelsi" -- CD -- €10
1995/2010 Cold Spring, CSR136CD
First of 5 albums in the MZ. 412 reissue series, with a new album planned for next year. 1995 bore witness to the resurrection of nefarious Swedish horde MZ. 412 (previously manifest as Maschinenzimmer 412) - Nordvargr, Drakh, Ulvtharm and Shaitan. This ground-breaking, genre-defining album saw the inventors of "Black Industrial" blur the boundaries between Black Metal, Ritual Industrial, Dark Ambient and Power Noise. "In Nomine..." captures the darkest sides of Satanism, death and ritual sacrifice. An enduring, blasphemous statement of True Swedish Black Industrial. This remastered version features two previously unreleased tracks, alternate versions and all new artwork. Housed in a matt digipak with spot varnishing. [press-release]

N.A.O.S. -- "The Final Harvest" -- CD -- €10
1995 Itsemuhra Arts, HR 003
NAOS is a one-man-project of Magus Wampyr Daoloth (George Zacharopoulos) of Necromantia. The debut album The Final Harvest was recorded in 1993 and released in 1995 through German label Itsemuhra Arts. The music is not Black Metal or any kind of metal, but Gothic/Darkwave. The vocals are just spoken words and the lyrics are about satanism and individualism. The atmosphere is a very dark one, the beats are mainly slow and there are some haunting keyboard melodies as well. Black as hell, even without a guitar! Some songs are too long in duration, so there is sometimes too much replication in one song. I don't know if this kind of music is something for metalheads, but I am sure, that even Black Metal fans need a silent hour once in a month. Then I would recommend NAOS! [Skariotis, Hellenic Metal]

Navia -- "There is a Deeper Abyss under Each Abyss" -- 5 CD-R -- €15
2003 Fight Muzik, FM19, (ltd. 88)

All the music is played live as a magic performance without any digital effects or any other technics. Metallic percussion, hand-made pipes and droning constructions, draught of catacombs, rustles, natural reverberation and wild vocals.

Once again entering the deranged mindset of the jilted lover-turned-sexual predator, NAVICON TORTURE TECHNOLOGIES is back with THE ARROW AND THE WOUND, delivering the most absolutely brutish levels of misogyny yet and creating an atmosphere of emotional depravity where lust is confused with longing and love is intermingled with delerium. Power noise at its highest and most uncomfortable levels. [press-release]

Negru Voda -- "Vald De Luxe" -- 3 CD -- €18
2011 Malignant Records, TUMORCD42
Originally begun as a side project to the new defunct Megaptera, the purpose of Negru Voda was to be a more personal and expressive solo outlet for death industrial veteran Peter Nystrom. Compared to the perhaps darker, more layered sound of Megaptera, Negru Voda is stripped down, unrefined, and to the point – old school, true to form, and primitive industrial music heavily influenced by pioneering electronic artists such as Test Dept, S.P.K., The Klinik, Cabaret Voltaire, Severed Heads, and the like. Primarily built upon a strong foundation of punishing and persistent rhythms and cold, analogue pulsations, these are colossal soundscapes, where harsh, factory corrosion is met with insidious waves of distorted, electro-shock blasts streaked with highly ominous and bleak atmospherics as fueled by pints of lager, drams of Islay single malt, alienization, media wastelands, and cold Scandinavian winters... With Vald de Luxe, Malignant presents a comprehensive 3CD overview of the complete Negru Voda sound, combining a slew of new, unpublished recordings, coupled with a collection of out of print, completely re-mastered works, including the full length Dark Territory CD (Old Europa Cafe, 1998), plus 3 bonus tracks, as well as the des Esseintes split 10” (Fin de Siecle, 2001) and the AVA: (dunk) picture 7” (Formosan, 2002). Also featured is the enlisted help of such notables as Magnus Sundstrom (des Esseintes, The Protagonist), Ulf Soderberg (Sephiroth), Kristoffer Oustand (V:28, K.N.O., Plague Machinery), and Christian Pallentin (P.A.L)... Few can stake claim to the immeasurable influence and legacy of Peter Nystrom, and with Vald de Luxe, it becomes immediately evident that authentic, old school Swedish industrial still reigns supreme. In 8 panel digipak, with exquisite design by Kristoffer Oustad and Marten Kellerman. [press-release]

2000 Cold Spring Records, CSR28CD, (ltd. 1000)
NOVATRON is the main project of ANTHONY DI FRANCO, who many of you will know from his previous projects - RAMLEH, SKULLFOWER and AX, and noise technician, KEVIN LASKA. This debut, exclusive to COLD SPRING, is a powerful journey into dark noise, slamming percussion, and subsonic bass rumbles. An excellent album, rich in variety and sonic textures. [label info]

Oophoi -- "An Aerial View" -- CD -- €12
2008 Glacial Movements Records, WSGM001, (ltd. 750)
"When I’ve been asked to describe the Ice Age with an uninterrupted drone, I knew I wanted to avoid the cliches of the genre: dark rumblings, massive low frequencies, cold atmospheres. I had to describe with sounds the white landscape, the blinding light reflected by the frozen oceans, the abyssal silence. I have imagined myself in flight over this Sleeping Earth, a solitary winged-being surrounded by winds, air, water and ice. This led me to compose an airy drone with minimal variations and delicate tones, an hommage to a pure, incontaminated and remote land." [from the author]

The Oratory of Divine Love -- "Purgatorio" -- CD -- €10
2006 Waystyx, WR29, (ltd. 225)
The name of The Oratory of Divine Love isn't probably widely known, but researches of experimental music of course know the man behind it - John D. Gore - by his underground label Cohort Records (which released among other interesting artists discs of Bad Sector and Troum) and main project 'kirchenkampf'. By this time The Oratory of Divine Love has only released one CD-R on Belgian label EE Tapes and here with the effort of Russian label Waystyx the second full-length was born. The project's concept reflects John's interest in Christianity and radionoise, all compositions are being recorded always live using only radio passed through effect-chains as the sound source. This CD presents one long track with deeply reverberated surreal atmosphere, sucking your attention and immersing in real trance. Within these reverberations sonic events constantly flow and change like a picture of a dream, processed to full unrecognizability fragments of ether neighbour with low frequency radio drones, smooth waves synchronize with brain activity and slow down rational perceprion towards irrational. It's worth to mention very stylish artwork done by Waystyx - double sleeve made of black-oil-sodden paper (what a smell!), golden serigraphy and embossed album title on the cover.

PBK -- "Under my Breath" -- CD -- €16
2009 Waystyx, WR35, (ltd. 500)
"Under my Breath" is the new ambient noise release by Phillip B. Klingler, aka PBK. Collaborating with some of the most brilliant experimental musicians from around the world, PBK has created a work of exceptional depth and complexity. "Under my Breath" is an abstract contemplation on post 9/11 paranoia in the U.S. Most of the album was created in 2004 during the height of the Bush administration crackdown on human rights via the Patriot Act. The resulting album reveals a new vernacular for dark ambient isolationist music and is an important key to understanding PBK's ambitions in the world of sound. Seeking expression through the use of drones, natural or man-made acoustic sounds, digital glitching and turntable noise, the effect is one of surrealistic juxtaposition, not jarring, but totally organic sounding, that can be listened to and savored in an intellectual way. The distinguished guests on this album are Nocturnal Emissions, Wolf Eyes, Brume, Aube, John Wiggins, Tore H. Boe, Artificial Memory Trace, Dale Lloyd and C. Reider. [press-release]. Packed in an unusual cardboard "mirror-sleeve".

Phelios -- "Astral Unity" -- CD -- €10
2010 Malignant Records, TUMOR CD 44
Following two CDs on Eternal Soul and a recent split LP on LOKI, Germany’s revered dark ambient project Phelios makes their first appearance for Malignant. With its swirling cosmic drones and sweeping, cinematic drift, the music of Phelios is breathtaking and hypnotic, often evoking moments of serenity and beauty, yet spiking them with deep cushions of ritualistic percussion and textural squalls that suggest something much more ominous and threatening looms on the vast horizon. Collectively, Astral Unity is thoughtful and concise – a vivid and richly detailed entity that’s alive and constantly evolving, channeling the universe while simultaneously exploring the inner regions of a more primordial earth. In 6 panel digipak, with gold foil stamping. [press-release]

Phragments -- "Earth Shall Not Cover Their Blood" -- CD -- €10
2008 Malignant Records, TUMOR CD37
You've seen it before. Certain bands or artists delivering their finest work with their first recording. Then, in futile attempts to capture some of the same magic, becoming formulaic and stale, rehashing ideas and never really achieving the same caliber of work. Others, expanding on the elements of their prior releases, and through a natural maturation process, get stronger with each release. That would certainly be the case with Phragments. With their third full length studio CD, this Slovakian duo have made remarkable strides not only in quality but in scope. Equipped with an enriched sonic palate, Earth Shall Not Cover Their Blood mixes forceful brass and dark orchestral strings with rolls of powerful tribal percussion, somber wind instrumentation, ominous atmospheres, industrial clangor, and a strong and commanding vocal presence, particularly on tracks like "Over Deadlands" and "The Kin of Cain". Cohesive, complete, and epic, this is a release that will open some eyes to new found authority of Phragments. Yours to discover. In 6 panel digipak. [press-release]

Post Scriptvm -- "Grey Eminence" -- CD -- €12
2010 Tesco Organisation, TESCO 079
A 4th full-length offering from these masters of existential necroindustrial. Grey Eminence is a meditation on the clandestine forces laboring tirelessly to prevent humanity from achieving its ultimate spiritual goals. Eight completely focused and meticulously executed compositions akin to an emotionally stirring haunted carousel ride through the vibrant, surreal and grotesque mental imagery, netherworld of paranoid illusions, mystic transmissions, secret rituals, somber and horrific visions of a civilization in decline. The lethargic torpors of ebbing and flowing analog pulsations and textures, augmented with obscure samples, acoustic string and percussion instruments alternate with violent hailstorms of rusted scrap metal, moans of apocalyptic machinery and serpentine invocations. Mastered by Andreas Wanhmann of Fir§t Law... Founded in New York City in 1999 Post Scriptvm creates bleak electronic music spanning a variety of post-industrial genres and described by the reviewers as concertedly dreamlike, mesmerizing, claustrophobic, and disturbing. Post Scriptvm's releases possess the emotional dynamics of a manic-depressive disorder. The compositions flow from eerie, hypnotizing death ambient structures to the visceral intensity of industrial noise, invoking surreal, Kafkaesque mental imagery as well as an overwhelming anguish of metaphysical horror. Post Scriptvm released material via various labels in the USA, Italy, France and Germany. The project is best known for their releases on Jerome Nougaillons (Propergol) label Hermetique and the most recent, critically acclaimed album "Raspad", out on Tesco Organization, as well as their well-received live performances at several industrial music festivals in USA and in Europe. Puissance -- "Let Us Lead" -- CD -- €12
1996/2005 Equilibrium Music, EQM 007
Originaly released on Cold Meat Industry in 1996, "Let Us Lead" stills stands as one of the most impressive and groundbreaking releases in the Industrial/Militaristic fusion that has become so popular recently. Carefuly elaborated overwhelming orchestrations brought to Puissance's Industrial structures a disturbing apocalyptic touch, impregnated with somber beauty and bitter, often polemic, spoken-word speeches. Announced for re-release on various occasions, "Let Us Lead" is finally made available again, with re-mastered sound and an additional bonus track, presented in matte-black deluxe digipak edition, with classy UV spot-varnish finishing [press-release].

R.Y.N. -- "Astral Death" -- CD -- €10
2008 Unrest Productions, UNPRCD02, (ltd. 500)
Finally the first real long-play album of this UK drone-duo presenting 6 long tracks of waving & slowly shifting massive drones, based on "guitar, bass, metal & effects". The sounds here are just flooding immensely, there's nothing "concrete" you can hold on to; the mind & body seem to be washed out slowly by these rustling, feedbacking & deeply reverberating overtune-waves. "Astral Death" is a journey into the pulsating, meandering heart of disintegration. Filed under: dark oceanic. [Drone Records]

Radio Kuolema -- "10050 Cielo Drive" -- CD -- €10
2005 Ars Benevola Matter, ABM20, (ltd. 545)
With this new release Radio Kuolema attempts with closed eyes a real documentary, where the tragic events linked to the Manson “family” offer the black humus on which the music ideally sticks the obsessions of homicide mysticism which marked out an enduring trail of blood in the american collective unconscious. “10050 Cielo Drive” is the sound, the image, the memory. In these atmospheres the innocence and the frenzy of a world already on the edge of the abyss find shelter: an abyss where the children stare silent at whole cities devoured by flames, while they are still holding tight long knives in their hands. Rasthof Dachau -- "Prison Poems" -- CD -- €10
2006 Steinklang Records, SK36
7 years went by since the last album from this Austrian Cold-Electronic project was released. "Prison Poems" is a conceptual work about the Irish civil-rights movement in the 70ies of the last century. The album deals about the fate of a handful young IRA volunteers, imprisoned for political affairs, but then simply sentenced as criminals. After a long hungerstrike, the young men died, forgotten from the rest of the world. Most songtexts on this album were written by one of these young men who died from hunger. He wrote these poems on toilet- and cigarette-paper with the refill of a biro-pen, hidden inside his body in the years before he died. The sound on this album varies from dark and cold songs a la GalaktHorroe to early SPK-like Heavy-Electronic tracks. All with hard or subliminal rhythms and psychic analogue frequencies. Reformed Faction -- "Until..." -- CD -- €10
2010 Greytone, grey002
"Until…" by Reformed Faction is a new set of recordings built around the ideas of abstract compositional instructions similar in meaning and intent to those used by Karlheinz Stockhausen in such works as “From the seven days”. Eager to create a diverse and ever changing catalogue of works Reformed Faction here embrace improvisation, a feature fundamental to all their recordings, with a different focus and sensibility allowing sounds to evolve slowly and sub-conciously across a unrestricted timescale. Reformed Faction are Robin Storey and Mark Spybey, both ex-members of zoviet*france and both with long established and productive solo careers as Rapoon and Dead Voices On Air respectively. RLW -- "Herzblutanteil (I.K.K. IV)" -- CD -- €17
2009 Waystyx, WR47, (ltd. 432)
Once upon a time, in far 1794 year, Christoph Schmid wrote the lyrics for Ihr Kinderlein Kommet, which was performed soon after in Thanhausen an der Mindel. He united it then with the melody, composed by contemporary composer Johann Abraham Peter Schulz. In the end of 2001, a few weeks before Christmas, I recorded my daughter Sonja (aged 5 then) singing some of her favourite xmas tunes, including I.K.K. When Jos Moers (owner of Meeuw Muzak label) was asking me to contribute to a series of xmas 7"s he is doing once every year, I used 2 of those recordings for 2003's yearly event: merry merry (mm 027 - I.K.K. release #1 in retrospect). Side one has Sonja's singing (Stille Nacht = silent night) unedited "live". Side 2 has a funny piece composed from a transformed Ihr Kinderlein Kommet. When the 7" was done i had the impression that the transformed sounds had a quality of their own, so i used them for further transformations and to compose a new piece of about 15 mins length: I.K.K. - Purpur - Scharlachrot. Following my course of collaborative works I invited some friends to take part in this adventure. The result, I.K.K. - Purpur (CD, Sirr 025), was released in 2006, including contributions from Dan Warburton, Andrew Deutsch, Chris Halliwell, then Strotter Inst., Stephen Vitiello, also Johannes Frisch and Bhob Rainey, I.K.K. #2). Two lengthy pieces by Domenico Sciajno and myself followed later that same year as Gelbe Tupfen (CD, Bowindo 07 - I.K.K. release #3; not to mention a version by Reto Mader on his CD Fireproof in 8 parts, Hinterzimmer 2007). But other projects needed their time, so it took until 2008 before I came back to the KInderlein. The distance made it easier to go back to the sources: an extract from the original recording and the meeuw version are presented here superimposed for your pleasure in the end of this release. And so, the starting point is set by C. Renou (Brume), who uses extracts from almost all the following pieces for a glorious introduction: Merry merry! Don't wish me a merry Christmas, I won't have one. [RLW]

RLW -- "Tonlose Lieder" -- CD -- €12
2004 PARA disc, PACD-013
After the recent re-issues of the old PD work, it's now time to fast forward in music history and take a closer look at the missing link of disbanding P16.D4 and the first solo works of RLW. Fast forward to 1990. This is the time when the old techniques of tape-splicing, cheap four track records and such like was replaced by cheap samplers and computer interfaces (midi to control sequences), being an option for everyone. Before this all settled down into RLW's first CD 'Acht' (1992), he experimented with a lot of ideas, using the newly acquired techniques. The abrassive side of P16.D4 became more subtle, more dynamic and at the same time it was also reduced in sound and approach. No less than twenty-two pieces from the sketchbook are to be found on this CD, and each of them is described in the booklet. Scratching records is for instance a main feature, like was done on the SLP project, but it involves also organ like sounds, sterile factory settings found inside the sampler and much more. In some cases we get the raw version of a piece that ended up on 'Acht', but the majority is unheard. Whereas on the later solo records by RLW it's hard to recognize the original input, we can hear on this CD him freely improvising around with instruments, sampling them etc. Of course not every fragment is great, but it would not be right to say that this album is only for those with a keen ear on history. It bears the collage-like style of P16.D4 with the latter RLW style, but in all its fragmented style it sounds, still after all these years, like a fresh album. Only to be compared, I think, with P16.D4's 'Tionchor' album. A collection of nice short pieces, that make more sense when heard they are grouped together. [FdW, Vital Weekly]

Rocchetti, Claudio -- "Every Live Is Problem Solving" -- CD -- €10
2011 Silentes Minimal Editions, sme 1147
A suggestive gallery of abstract images, confused fragments of life and real living experiences, sights of urban landscapes... Noisy and electronic interferences, mechanical machines movements, concrete noises, low frequences fluxes, hissing sounds, interferences, but also melodic acoustic guitar pieces, human voices and other field recordings... A brave, uncompromising and heterogeneous "decomposed" mosaic of avantgarde sound art beyond time, beyond any point of view and any geometric coordinates. [label info]

Sektor 304 -- "Soul Cleansing" -- CD -- €10
2009 Malignant Records, TUMOR CD43
Equipped with a frightening and impressive array of primitive instrumentation pulled from junkyards and scrap metal heaps, this Portuguese outfit has delivered an astounding formal debut – a heady mixture of truly old school industrial in the vein of Einsturzende Neubauten, Test Dept, and S.P.K., and the grinding, bass heavy dirge of vintage Swans and Godflesh. These are anthems to the past, but geared towards an apocalyptic and bleak future… a form of counter-culture using what is most evident in modern western society: the debris, the abandoned objects, the waste, the noise, and the interference... With a solid foundation of rusty, oil drenched percussion, Sektor 304 adds layer upon layer of squalling industrial clangor, hammering metallic noise, grimy atmospheres, heaving masses of haunted factory drones, and threatening tribal batter, with a strong and commanding vocal presence. The sound here is almost physical in nature – provocative, persistent, and demanding. No one is doing what Sektor 304 is doing right now. Anyone into TRUE industrial (and that includes not just the aformentioned old guard, but also things like Strom.ec, Militia, Negru Voda, and Knifeladder) really should not miss out. In 6 panel digipak, mastered by Steel Hook Audio. [press-release]

Shift -- "Bulk" -- CD -- €10
2009 Silken Tofu, stx.10 / Unrest Productions, UNPRCD05, (ltd. 350)
After several tape, cdr and vinyl-releases, ‘Bulk’ is the 2nd cd-release for Shift and a somewhat different sounding disc in shift’s discography, because of its harsh and monotonous approach. Some thoughts about the album: “This is the material that is suitable to feel with gut wrecking volume in live situation. cranium crushing!” – Pasi Markkula (Bizarre Uproar). “Slowest shifting sounds of fuzzy static rattle, monotonic synth droning and pulsing, with massive tracks of very little happening. It’s as monumental as the cover design, featuring a monstrous concrete center. Grey and still. Designed to certain rough elegance, but not pretty … When you sit down to investigate the layers of sound and subtle details of crackling fuzz distortion, you start to notice all kinds of hidden patterns behind the ‘wall’, and subtance becomes more audible than in something that’s mere pedal distortion with no additional information to consume.” – Mikko Aspa (Grunt / Freak Animal). Or as one Unrest employee described it: “Like planets burning down or the day ten million tons of filthy black shit rained down on the heads of a beaten species”. [press-release]

Sigillum S -- "23/20" -- CD -- €10
2007 Verba Corrige Productions, VCP009
"More than ever, fringe culture methods and cutting edge acoustic science mate for the generations of endless layers and bursts of sonic pleasure: voices and drones clans across plans and peaks, fishing for universal tremors and sensorial catastrophes. Iconic translations of lost symbols flow like pathogenic lava into temporal sequence and weather forecasts become performances for alien audiences." The 20th anniversary album from post-industrial noise alchemists SIGILLUM S, "23/20", features (together with the original line up of Eraldo Bernocchi, P.NG5361.Bandera and Luca Di Giorgio) sound contributions from long time collaborators and friends, such as Bill Laswell, Toshinori Kondo, Professor Shebab, SH Fernando / WordSound, Martino Nicoletti, Lorenzo Esposito Fornasari, ZU, Xabier Iriondo, Ephel Duath, Karyn Crisis and various members of the same band, Mark Solotroff, Thomas Fehlmann, Gudrun Gut, Andrea Marutti, Claudio Agostoni and many others. A reissue of Skullflower's acclaimed 1992 album IIIrd Gatekeeper, featuring the lineup of Matthew Bower (guitar), Stuart Dennison (drums and vocals), and Anthony DiFranco (bass). IIIrd Gatekeeper is an immensely heavy album that was originally released on HeadDirt, the label run by Justin Broadrick of Godflesh/Jesu/Final fame back in the early 90's, and featured Skullflower at their heaviest, grinding out slow, sludgy riffs and crushing, almost industrial rhythms amid a tempest of psychedelic guitar noise and dense sheets of feedback - easily the most crushing, rock-based music that Skullflower ever produced. IIIrd Gatekeeper served up a skulldozing dose of post-industrial dirge rock that sat comfortably next to Godflesh, Swans, and Ramleh in terms of dark, druggy, hypnotic lumbering heaviness. This is one of our favorite albums ever at Crucial Blast, and we are presenting this reissue with new liner notes, a new package design that retains all of the original artwork from the HeadDirt release, and a remastering job courtesy of Scott Hull at Visceral Sound. Skullflower -- "Orange Canyon Mind" -- CD -- €10
2005 Crucial Blast, CBR 45
The new full length from the legendary UK free/drone/psych outfit Skullflower, featuring some of the most searing, synapse scorching droneworks that Matthew Bower (the man behind Skullflower, as well as Sunroof! and The Hototogisu) has unleashed to date, in our humble opinion. Orange Canyon Mind is the follow up to 2002's awesome Exquisite Fucking Boredom (Tumult Records), and continues that albums utter mutation of stoned out riffs pulled taffy-like into eternity/oblivion and star-rupturing blasts of sonic white light. Over the 8 tracks/60 minute running time, Bower and cohorts build massive horizontal drones and melodic supernovas. Superb, beautiful, brain melting stuff. [press-release]

Splinterskin -- "Wayward Souls" -- CD -- €10
2009 Cold Spring Records, CSR114CD
Dark Acoustic / Woodland Folk. Splinterskin unveils his spell after years of solitude and hermetic isolation, in the form of a harsh, dark folk music. His tales are told using an old classical guitar accompanied by haunting vocals, violin, and soothing whispers cradled in the delicate atmospheres of autumn. A collection of tales blending life and death, entities and creatures, hidden wisdom, unknown places, pain and suffering, folklore, possession, insanity, nature and the dark world that surrounds. Yet there are no words to truly describe Splinterskin's message or music. [press-release]

SS (Sudan Strain) -- "HA PP Y ERA VEY" -- 3"CD-R -- €7
2005 Operator Produkzion, OPERPRODUKT04, (ltd. 157)
Nihilistic Power Electronics from SS (aka SudanStrain) - head of famous Abgurd label. Previously unreleased reworked archive material from 2002-2003 with obvious anti-christian and misanthropic taste. Powerful electronic noise attacks spiced with the samples from "Hellraiser" and reading the Bible backwards. The result is surprisingly conceptual and integral. Artwork based on exclusive collages by YAO. [label info]

Sudden Infant -- "Ear Wash" -- CD -- €10
2003 SSSM, sssm-104, (ltd. 500)
Absolutely deranged mixture of improvised noise, natural instruments (trombone and bass-guitar), cut-up technique, sampled voices and various abrupt sounds. Everything served under a hot sauce of crazy humour typical for this Swiss performance band.

Survival Unit -- "Thought-Trigger-Target" -- CD -- €10
2001/2009 Autarkeia, acd 040
Here is one more masterpiece of Swedish cultural terrorism supplemented with new material and re-released in the golden collection of cultural terrorism series. If compared with the most aggressive albums of Kristian Olsson’s gang Survival Unit, this one is perhaps more atmospheric than openly destructive. Yet, like all other Survival Unit’s diversions, it is pervaded by the black social despair, hate towards human civilisation and the lies it spreads about the reality. It also conveys the position of a person developed in the violent world, i.e. violence against violence for violence. Resistance to everything and anything. Life and its meaning in a nihilistic fight against the surrounding fake reality. This album is a gloomy insight into the future that awaits us all and a fine lesson showing us what stands at the end of the Scandinavian idyll. The album is released in a very elegant digipack with an embossed cover. [press-release]

Survival Unit -- "Tied Down For Survival" -- CD -- €10
2003/2009 Autarkeia, acd 038, (ltd. 500)
At the times of global crisis, the zombies of cultural terrorism strike again with the fire of new toxic power. Tied Down For Survival is a old/new blow from the Scandinavian cult project Survival Unit to the rotten cancer of Western civilisation and the second collection of rarities in the golden collection of cultural terrorism series. This is an exceptionally suggestive, psychedelic power electronics with deeply terrorising implications. Here you will listen to unreleased live records, passages from limited edition utan fana and the controversial conspiracy theory of Rolf-Peter Andersson, where Swedish monarch family, Indira Gandhi and Mikhail Gorbachev practice cannibalism. Survival Unit -- "Will To Zero" -- CD -- €10
2002/2009 Autarkeia, acd 039
Will To Zero is the third part in Survival Unit’s golden collection of cultural terrorism series, actually meant for crippling as many people as possible without a hope of recovery. Daresay, that all in this album serves for the attainment of this purpose. The duration of esp. aggressive and deranged tracks exceeds 15 mins. Very straightforward sound, often reminding the invasion of rats, crushes the minds of all calibres. Do you believe your nerves are strong enough to take this? Then read the title once again and then go buy medical insurance. Zero chances to withstand. But those who do, will surely require medicines for the rest of their lives. The release is presented in a fine digipack of three embossed sides. [press-release]

2008 Cold Spring, CSR92CD
The Sutcliffe Jügend filthy dirt-mess of an album that is Pigdaddy is now available on Cold Spring. Six stories of mind-fucking depravity. Pigdaddy contains some of the most fucked up, histrionic and downright bizarre vocals ever recorded. The music is created using the most basic sound sources. The overwhelming sense of moral decay makes this Sutcliffe Jügend's most original album yet. Pigdaddy is Beyond Perverse. Sexual transgression never sounded so dirty. Hear Pigdaddy and you will never feel clean again. Cover painting by Kevin Tomkins. [press-release]

Tho-So-Aa -- "Identify" -- CD -- €12
2010 Tesco Organisation, TESCO 081
We are proud to announce the long awaited ambient-masterpiece identify by Tho-So-Aa. After 7 years of development Tho-So-aa was finally ready to present this release. This is the german outfit most complex and dense album. Some of the tracks may show you with threatening collages and experimental loops, how close the difference between freedom and prison is. Other tracks are surrounded by melancholic soundscapes and dark bass-drones inspired by desperation and totally sadness. In the past years Lutz Rach spent working with sounds to create this thick layers and drones that have never surfaced in his music before. This is no longer pure dark ambient music, it is enriched by industrial sounds experimental use of classical instruments voice samples and an overall laying cry against isolation. The dark soundscapes expose a very cynical point of view on our sick society, it decribes the unknown pressure to identify with yourself! The wait was worth it, with this THO-SO-AA delivers his to date masterpiece. After 49 minutes, Identify lets you alone in your silly live, with the cognition: You are 75% dead. IDENTIFY NOW! Verhagen, Darrin -- "Black Frost" -- CD -- €10
2004 Dorobo, 020, (ltd. 500)
A second part of "black | mass" trilogy by Darrin Verhagen (Shinjuku Thief, E.P.A.). If "Black Ice" delivered the 'searing pain upon arrival' to the black|mass trilogy, "Black Frost" serves as something of a gently uncomfortable antidote. Bordered by lowercase, delicate electroacoustic, sinecore and glitch terrain, "Frost" presents material considered, precise yet modest in tone. [label info]

Vortex -- "Phanopoeia" -- CD -- €12
2008 Tesco Organisation, TESCO 074
The German ritual drone project Vortex is dedicated to the British art movement of Vorticism of the early Twentieth Century (1913-1920). Founded as an own vision of Futurism by Wyndham Lewis and expressed in the legendary magazine Blast (1914) Vorticism defined the artist as someone gaining creative power and inspiration out of the chaotic vortex of creative energy. The name was introduced by the Vorticist protagonist Ezra Pound who also coined the phrase 'phanopoeia': the idea of creating poetry for all senses. The music of Vortex pays audiovisual homage to the great Vorticist art. Psychedelic drones, ritual drums, processed sounds, glimpses of acoustic harmony, and original sound documents are blended to grant a holistic sensory experience. Vortex, the solo-project of a :Golgatha:-member, transcends the limits of dark ambient soundtracks on a quest for the unknown. Vortex is pure psychoactive energy. [press release]

Xiphoid Dementia -- "Might Is Blight" -- CD -- €10
2009 Existence Establishment, EE10, (ltd. 500)
Xiphoid Dementia is Egan Budd's noise project based in Boston, Massachusetts. Mr. Budd has been active in the noise underground since about 2002 and creates a powerful sort of ambient-noise music. His latest release is a numbered, limited edition CD titled "Might Is Blight" and therein begins a bleak journey through the possible end times of life as we know it, the ruination of Earth, and the death of illusion. This noise artist has in his artistic grasp the means of creating sound structures that are metaphors for such ideas even though to find those places requires certain lengths to be gone to... What Budd has accomplished here is impressive, not too many noise artists are attempting something so ambitious, a hybrid style of composing that incorporates modern classical avant garde, droning electronic noise and atmospheric ambience to create a strong, cinematic music... From the orchestral title track opener to the lilting, tossing, aptly titled 'Your City Crumbles' to the profoundly disturbing final composition, 'None Shall Inherit The Earth', every one of these soundscapes moves in fascinating ways, morphing from powerful Penderecki-style string sections that teeter on the brink of collapse, then break down giving way to noisier electronics, heavy (metallic) droning, or screeching, anguished vocals, each sound texture seemingly always moving in a constant state of flux... [Phillip Klingler, Heathen Harvest]

YAO 91404 D -- "LenShumZavod" -- CD -- €10
2009 Freak Animal Records, fa-cd-047
The newest album of YAO 91404 D makes deeply psychedelic, almost religious effect. Rich analogue Old School Industrial, tons of heavy basses tumble down into listener's mind, gramophone records roar and howl in antediluvian defective player speakers, brutally warped 7-inches overstrain in primeval harsh-noise, distorted sounds of railroads sound like proclamations from the Underworld... A meditative canvas somewhere between Soldnergeist and Veprisuicida. [YAOP]

YAO 91404 D -- "Pervomai" -- CD-R -- €12
2003 Fight Muzik, FM24, (ltd. 30)

Zoat-Aon -- "The Triplex Bestial" -- CD -- €10
2006 Aural Hypnox, [AH07], (ltd. 1000)
By the careful adjustment and manipulation of both modern and archaic mediums is created a highly dynamic work of aural alchemy depicting the trance and dream of a carnal totem standing between Heaven and Earth, where the unearthly sound of starlight's serpentine arteries winding together with the blackened branches above mingles with the oneiric hisses and crackles of necromantic phantoms and slithering roots below. A barbarous, sonic paradox suggesting the subtle arousal of the ancestry in flesh, a work both soothing and threatening to the intuitive mind. [press-release]
