Our today's update contains a lot of good news! Firstly, we have two new releases: a new album by the project Hypnoz from Moscow region and live recordings by St. Petersburg based project Kryptogen Rundfunk (detailed info comes below). Also, you can watch a short teaser for an upcoming collaboration album of Majdanek Waltz & Sal Solaris "Tenebrae" on youtube: http://youtu.be/OaTmUxICIXs. The CD will be released in cooperation with Shadowplay Records approximately in late May. Secondly, we take an active part in preparation of the experimental electronic stage "ElektroShalash" ("electro hovel") at the open air festival Systo Palty Togathering which will take place on May 6-11th in a secret place somewhere in the woods. During four days about 60 projects and DJs of various styles will perform there, on one stage combining the music from ethno, experimental techno and idm to ambient, drone, noise, breakcore, etc. (full list of performers comes below in events section). The gigs will be enforced by theatrical performances and VJ art during the nights. This event is truly gonna be a festival of forest psychedelic culture! Thirdly, like always, our distro catalogue has been updated with new releases by Lunar Abyss Deus Organum, Troum, Nick Soudnick, Ion & Sophus, Sistema Bezopasnosti, and new stuff from such labels as Aquarellist, Wintage Records & Tapes, .ANGLE.REC., Autarkeia, Zoharum, and much more! The last but not least is that we're having a vacation - from May 4th to 19th we will be away from the virtual space, but we'll read and answer all your emails as soon as we return. Have a good time, M.M. 26.04.2011 |
Hypnoz
CD-R (ltd. 150) |
"A Score for Iron Blues" is already the eighth full-length album of the project Hypnoz - a brainchild of Dmitry Zuboff (Zuboff Sex Shop, Circle Of Iron Tape, BRZB) coming from Moscow region. This music will primarily appeal to the fans of old school industrial - the raw and moderately rough sound of the album is based on the use of overdriven and otherwise processed bass guitar and voice samples. With the help of these simple means comrade Zuboff manages to create quite varied compositions which seemingly don't contain anything innovative but at the same time sound just the right way: through the album harsh dirty sludge joins rugged hypnotic loops and even mild melodic tunes creating a melancholic mood. One of the tracks features the specially recorded voice of Jim Thirlwell (Foetus).
Kryptogen Rundfunk
CD-R (ltd. 150) |
After several limited edition split and collaborative releases this is the first solo recording by Kryptogen Rundfunk since the release of his album "22.SZ" on Mechanoise Labs label back in 2004. The disk contains live recordings made during the "Noise vs Glamour" festival in 2005 in St. Petersburg and Moscow, later reworked in home studio.
In fact the same program was prepared for both shows so some fragments of the compositions intersect, but due to the live mixing of sampled layers of analogue and computer synthesis and use of such instruments as analogue synth "Rokton", radio receivers, voice and processing units, both tracks sound entirely different in the end. In both cases these are constantly moving psychoactive soundscapes spreading from soft pulsations and drones to sprightly noisy fragments spiced up with a couple of funny samples.
Accomplice Affair -- "Cienie" -- CD -- €10
2011 My Hands Music, CD003
This album is continuation of music ideas from previous "Samotny horyzont" album. The album contains more experimental guitar sounds and mysterious voices. Music from this album gets of listeners to solitary and darkness lands. This music is cold and darkness, profounds and emotionals. Two songs were recorded together with Marek Styczynski (The Magic Carpathians, Cyber Totem). He created sounds with an old experimental instruments (cytra, fidola). Over 50 minutes of music for fans who like experimental sounds! [label info]

Algol -- "Heaven Debris" -- CD-R -- €7
2011 Snowy Tension Pole, STP-005, (ltd. 100)
Earth has gone through periods of abrupt and catastrophic changes due to the impact of large celestial objects. A few of these impacts may have caused massive climate change and the extinction of large number of plants and animal species. It is important to be aware of the fact, that objects with diameters over 50 m strike the Earth approximately once every thousand years, producing explosions comparable to the one known to have detonated above Tunguska in 1908. Siberian impacts have shown that we are not detached from unexpected visit of guests from Outer Space. Asteroids over 1 km in diameter, that actually cross the Earth's orbital path, can be esimated as more than 1000. Through "Heaven Debris" we are contemplating a possibility of fatal impact. "The one which brings to Earth a new coil of evolution or deadly silence". "Heaven Debris" was created by using guitar and piano only, no synth were used on this record. [press-release]
Arkona -- "Acid Landscapes" -- CD -- €10
2011 Zoharum, ZOHAR IYHHH 003, (ltd. 444)
'Acid Landscapes' released by Zoharum is the first regular publication of the tracks from the series of the same title. It includes 4 privately released albums with songs recorded between 2002 and 2009. This album collects the most atmospheric pieces from this series. 'Acid Landscapes' is a psychedelic journey through the city at night. The music on this album simply refuses to be pigeonholed. A careful listener will find ambient textures, dub or illbient rhythmic structures, post-industrial atmosphere and even acid twist. Everything bathed in a specific sense of humour. It's more than 70 minutes of music that provokes and teases, yet fascinates... In Karol's own words: ”The idea for Acid Landscapes series came from looking through the old Arkona tracks I had in my archives. There were loads of them, since I have always been recording a lot and most of it was shelved as leftovers of low quality. After a closer look I thought that a significant part of it has artistic merit and coherent feel. That's how the idea for Acid Landscapes was born. Soon I realised that I have enough material for a couple of albums... The process of creation has remained unchanged for years. I use my tiny home studio. I have recently exchanged my archaic PC for a laptop with a 24-bit soundcard. However, only 3 years ago I was using a PC with a 16MB RAM memory. While composing Acid Landscapes I was using the following equipment-samplers: boss sp 202 and sp 303, roland mc 303, roland jupiter 4, farfisa, elektronika em 25, korg m-500, hohner psk 60 + a couple of effects and analogue filters. All external sounds were recorded using a condenser microphone which is built in boss sp 202... Currently I've been working on the next instalment being more of a tekno acid space dub part. Simple and spatial to the max”... This album will be a nice surprise for fans of Scorn, Psychic TV, Coil ('LSD' period), Techno Animal, Material. [press-release]
Astral Social Club -- "Neon Pibroch" -- CD -- €11
2007 Important Records, imprec155
Neon Pibroch is dedicated to the memory of Textile Records founder Benoit Sonnette. Astral Social Club is the current project of Neil Campbell, formerly of Vibracathedral Orchestra, Sunroof!, A Band and many more. Campbell has been active since the early 80s, and The Wire magazine has said that, along with his friends Richard Youngs and Matthew Bower, he "provided the map co-ordinates for much of what passed for a post-punk UK underground during most of the 80s and 90s"... Campbell's approach as Astral Social Club could be seen as both a continuation and a refutal of his work with Vibracathedral Orchestra - a continuation in that it continues the quest into the unknown stellar regions of improvised drone-based music, and a refutal in its espousal of most of the elemental organic rock modes that made that band so special. The focus here is more on alien electronics and overloaded loop disorientation, sometimes even working with sounds more readily associated with the far end of dance music to produce a truly vast 21st century psychedelic sound... Late last year, VHF Records released a compilation/mix CD drawn from the earlier string of self-released CDRs which showcased the diverse methods employed in Astral Social Club recordings. These encompass straight-ahead drumbox/synthesizer jamming, computer-processing, swirling loops, primitive vocal holler, noise catharsis, tranquil guitar shimmer and a busload of other angles. The live experience throws these methods up the air, cranks up the volume and adds a visceral, seething human presence before letting it fall all over the audience. Despite the excessive use of electronics and processing, the over-riding feeling is one of a raw, ecstatic communion with the music, a million miles from sterile "electronica"... Although largely a solo project, Astral Social Club collaborators have included Tirath Singh Nirmala, Richard Youngs and Arttu Partinen. [press-release]
Aube -- "Variable Ambit" -- CD -- €13
2011 Housepig, HPIG-16
B°tong -- "The Great Disintegrator" -- CD-R -- €7
2010 Snowy Tension Pole, STP-004, (ltd. 100)
Continuing the edition of our tape, we are pleased to introduce to you our artist - b°tong. Here is a musician issuing records and giving concerts all over the world. He is dealing with creating and alternative experimental electronic music. His work takes on various interesting forms, we will focus on his dark ambient side. A very technical album, titled 'The Great Disintegrator' which was created between 2008 and 2010. It will appeal not only to listeners of industrial music but also to those who like well-developed musical episodes. The general climate sucks the listener in from the very first second. What happens next, consequently confirms the first fascination. Beyond the borders and even further - into the void of all perception. This is such a strange journey that you do what the artist wants. You will use his items, but it will be interesting for you and you will see how much you will be satisfied. You will start to enhance yourself. [press-release]

Black To Comm -- "Rückwärts Backwards" -- CD -- €10
2006 Dekorder, Dekorder 014
Black to Comm is the sound project headed by March Richter, head of German label Dekorder. His debut album relies mostly on processed shellac and vinyl loops, field recordings and assorted instruments (gamelan, organs, guitars, pianos among others) to forge 8 tracks of surreal ambience and crackling grooves. The carefully constructed arrangements make this more than just a patchwork of random sounds and the pieces even have a somewhat bittersweet and emotional quality to them. Last but not least, the tracks linger just long enough to leave an impression without wearing out their welcome. [Mechanoise Labs]
Blood Of Thee Christ -- "Behind Thee Bars" -- CD -- €10
2010 Autarkeia, acd 061, (ltd. 300)
Harii does his time in prison, but the curse of blood ov thee christ reaches malice adepts even from the cellars of the repressive structures. Kristian Olsson has compiled the latest album Behind Thee Bars of the sound recording sessions, while Harii was still on the rampage in freedom, and so far it seems it may be the strongest album BOTC ever made. The tracks contain brutal vocals of both Harii and Kristian, very intense lo-fi noise, and morbid samples of trash films. Generally, this album reminds early works of SURVIVAL UNIT. Most probably because the sound in Blood Ov Thee Christ project is mainly managed by Kristian himself. One will find tracks recorded in the cult festival ICETODIRON 2007 TE, followed by a long break in concert activities of Autarkeia label. [press-release]
Brizbomb -- "SSREC#006" -- CD-R -- €7

2007 Auf Abwegen, AATP21, (ltd. 500)
Controlled Collapse -- "Injection" -- CD -- €7
2008 Soyuz Music / Dependent Records, mind 119
Young and undoubtedly talented Polish musician Wojciech Krol has always admired the godfathers of harsh EBM - Belgian band Suicide Commando. So no wonder that his debut album "Injection" (2007) is an explosive mixture of harsh electro (tracks "Liar", "Impact") and pure EBM ("Selfless", "Dreams"), which can go directly to club dancefloors. If you like brutal heavy sound of Agonoize, Hocico and Velvet Acid Christ, you will certainly like Controlled Collapse as well. Special surprise for the lovers of more mild techno-pop - one of the tracks ("Fulfillment") features Darrin Huss from Psyche on vocals. [label info] Russian licensed edition.

Czalczeskun -- "Samer'10" -- CD-R -- €3
2011 Smell The Stench
Weird crappy noise / ambient from Poland.
Deep Frozen Lands -- "Polar Day" -- CD-R -- €7
Desolation Productions
Deep Frozen Lands was formed in 2007 and plays dark/north ambient. The base of it's music goes back to my childhood spent in a small village of Gremikha in Murmansk region, located at the shore of the Batents Sea (picturesque nature of tundra, hills, polar nights, northern lights, blizzards...), and also his dreams and inner self. Northern ambient - because I grew on far north surrounded by severe but indescribably beautiful nature: tundra, hills, snowy white spaces, snowstorms and the most picturesque natural phenomenon - northern lights... Northern ambient is my outlet, this is a kind of tribute to that unforgettable moments of my life which are unlikely to return. [from the author]
Different State -- "Yield" -- CD -- €10
2011 Zoharum, ZOHAR 015-2 / Wyrm Records, WYRM 003-2
Zoharum & Wyrm Records present the newest album of Different State ‘Yield (Capicity of production)’. Release contains remastered versions of pieces which were published on the tape Yield in 1995 for the first time by I&E SPM and 2 bonus tracks from the Cardinal Mosaic. 15 years ago when this material appeared on our stage someone said: Americans have Ministry, Britons have Goldflesh and Poles have Different State. It’s the best what we can tell about this CD. These words say everything about the climate of this material. Yield is the most metal from all industrial, or the most industrial from metal productions of Different State. We will not have to convince the old fans but those who haven’t heard this CD yet but they like projects like J. Broadrick & co. will be delighted. Released in elegant, ‘mint’ 3-panel digipack. [press-release]
Dimeth Trip -- "Instructions From Konstantin Lopushansky" -- CD -- €10
2011 Autarkeia, acd 058 / Moontrix, MTXCD003, (ltd. 200)
This disc is a joint project of two independent labels Autarkeia and Moontrix. Geid and Dega, members of the industrial/ambient formation MALDUR ATAI, have recorded an album inspired by fatal post-apocalyptic films of the talented Russian director Konstantin Lopushansky. In their musical work, Geid and Dega build the atmosphere reminding of a horrible nightmare where the future can be glimpsed only in eerie fragments of the past. The new post-apocalyptic world is bizarre and hopeless, therefore, the surviving people dream to wake up. Sadly, the dream would not go away. That is a new reality with no existential meaning, an absolute dead-end that has destroyed the majority and made the surviving ones wish for death. The message of the album authors, like the films of the Russian director, is crystal clear: the dream is soon set to become the only prospect of the human civilisation. DIMETH TRIP's disc Instructions From Konstantin Lopushansky is a fine industrial/ambient album distinguished by its tough atmosphere and containing a number of samples from Konstantin Lopushansky’s films. Moreover, it is a clear warning that we have come to the limit. Once we step over the line, there is no way back. Master for the record was made by ambient genius Peter Andersson (RAISON D’ETRE). Dissecting Table -- "Early Studio Works 1986/87" -- CD -- €10
2008 Steinklang Industries, SK-IN 16, (ltd. 500)
Dissecting Table is one of the most influential Noise artists from the early Japanese Industrial years. The first Dissecting Table recordings are quite unique in the Japanese Industrial scene, as the band was working with very concrete rhythms and screaming voices and they even had dark and slow songs, which was completely untypical for this time and region. The only comparisons to early Dissecting Table recordings might be the legendary albums of GRIM and WHITE HOSPITAL. In early 2007 Steinklang released the double-CD "Ultra Materials 1986-1991", which included the first 7", the first LP, the first CD and early compilation tracks. "Early studio works 1986/87" finishes the last chapter of unreleased early Dissecting Table songs. The CD includes 6 earlier/original versions of songs, that were later released on the first 7" and on the first LP, as well as 5 completely unreleased tracks. 61 min. / 11 tracks. [press-release]

Nimbus is the debut full length; chock full of enough sinister beats and atmospheric noise-scapes to seriously mess up your face. By harnessing the power of hot wired mixers alongside countless other home made electronics, Dreamcatcher has no trouble carving out a distinct sound. Past releases on nautical almanac’s in house label 'Heresee' and 'Alien8 Recordings' have been met with praise for a reason. An interstellar combination of cosmic proportions... This is Dreamcatcher. Dusk Of Hope -- "Flexible Response " -- CD -- €10
2005 Hermetique, H-CD05, (ltd. 500)
Long-delayed CD album from this French ambient noise project whose previous material includes a tape released years ago on Slaughter and some compilation appearances, including tracks on our own "Like Music to Their Ears Vol 1". The artwork and sound both depict images of decay, ruins and of places still haunted by the ghosts of past and nameless conflicts. Tense and brooding at time, serene at others, but always executed with a purpose. Released on Propergol's home label, Hermetique. [Mechanoise Labs]
E.A.R.S. / Ego Death -- "s/t" -- 3"CD-R -- €3
2010 Deathforce Records, DF 053
Split of two projects from Greece. E.A.R.S. - calm atmospheric electronic with brutal metal micro-invasions on the first track, 2nd track is a strong dramatic ambient composition in several parts. Ego Death - overdrived noise a la "vent shaft in a milling shop".
Faryus & Vadim Bondarenko -- "Quiet Songs From Misty Places" -- CD -- €10
2011 Silentes, 201127
QSFMP is the 2nd album made in collaboration of 2 different musicians: "electronic wizard" Faryus and classical music player and composer, but sometimes "misty traveller" Vadim Bondarenko. These QUIET SONGS were composed in 2 steps: first liquid electronic atmospheres were created by Faryus, then the piano and the clarinet melodies were improvised and recorded by Vadim Bondarenko. Actually this album is an invitation to find some misty places in your dreams... Frail and delicate ambient atmospheres, clusters of rarefied piano notes lying on discreet drones, soft and evanescent clarinet riffs, suggesting and catching natural sounds... Light and ethereal pastel-coloured musical plots... Eight tracks, one hour of suspended and quiet sonic passages, flowing like discreet background, or to listen/see in a passionate mood, dreaming in silence, lying in gloom... Wonderful ambient stuff from these two Russian artists in the same vein of some of Harold Budd's works... Well known for their previous works on Russian FARIA Records, Faryus in the past has also crafted an album in collaboration with Robert Rich. [label info]
Fire In The Head -- "Icon" -- CD -- €10
2007 Autarkeia, acd 023
I/CON is an exploration of religion as a both a catalyst for mental illness born of the human condition and as a disease itself. These are the incessant and uncontrollable screams of a deified ego mired in its own fallacies, of the pious and the possessed, of hypocrisy and holocaust, of resurrection and insurrection, of suffocating paranoia and immaculate deception, a final descent into a mind consumed with lies left to putrefy since youth, a head first plummet into the burning depths of malignant neuroses where the borders between reality and aberration have been razed, a maelstrom of auditory hallucinations and recurring apocalyptic nightmares. The dark ambient interludes of previous F/I/T/H releases are absent from this release having been replaced by a highly hysterical hallucinatory component resulting from the use of human voices used as a key of the aspect of the source material. I/CON shunts pure psychosis through eleven tracks of densely layered power electronics / industrial / noise leaving no room to breathe. [press-release]

Girnu Giesmes -- "Bevardes Salos" -- CD -- €10
2008 Autarkeia, acd 029, (ltd. 500)
The tenth album Bevardes salos (Nameless Islands) by the Lithuanian post industrial pioneer Girnu Giesmes uniquely marks the jubilee of composing and is distinguished by its special maturity and professionalism. All tracks are indeed intricate, complex and original sound fabrics. Each frequency, sample or rhythmic we hear in them has been composed by the author himself without the use of any other source. Some tracks are in drone style, others in ambient, while the third contain dynamic, elemental rhythm. However, all tracks in the album have one common trait - they cannot be compared to anything else you heard before. Even the general mood of the album, although it is very close to human emotions, is practically indescribable in words. Most probably the title of Nameless Islands has been purposefully chosen for this musical journey, so that various listeners could explore and discover their unique vision emerging from the play of sounds. Grkzgl -- "Esque" -- 3"CD -- €8
2006 .Angle.Rec., .A.R.03.01., (ltd. 500)
First release of the .Angle.Records. label in the 3’’ mini-cd format! This format lends itself well to the implementation of a maximum of ideas within a minimum of space. Clocking it at under 20 minutes on the cd player, this release proposes a journey that is indeed short but full of variations. Here is an excellent introduction for this promising artist from Montreal. Grkzgl (pronouced ‘grak-siggle’), once known under various other names, comes from many horizons at the same time. Influenced by the post-industrial universe as well as the minimal or noisy avant-garde, Grkzgl strings 6 pieces together, which represent so many micro-adventures, interrelated and presented in an uninterrupted fashion, the whole forming an entity driven by multiple jolts. His ingredients? Spacious ambiences, cracklings originating from everywhere and nowhere, short-circuits, underlying hummings, psychoactive noise …one already feels, upon the first moments, the presence of each of the many sound components which will compose this mini-album. Except that in the very beginning, each one goes its own way …and very soon, the unison happens, all particles and corpuscles meet with each other and, in concert, all those elements lay the foundations, terribly structured and chaotic at the same time, of a universe that is whacked-out but full of a constant lucidity and direction. The various preferred sound sources of the artist are, of course, triturated and recycled in a peculiar way, resulting in organic abstractions that are carefully thought out, evocative, evolutionary and saturated. [haven] -- "Amity" -- CD -- €10
2010 Zoharum, ZOHAR 016-2
'Amity' is definitely the most accessible album in the discography of this project. After flirting with American Tympanic Audio, [haven] comes back to the Polish market. The fifth album of one of the most interesting projects on the Polish independent scene released on Zoharum - [haven]'s 'Amity'. The new album can be quite a challenge for the current [haven] fanbase. 'Amity' is a bold journey through different soundscapes. [haven] links different musical worlds: elements of ambient and post-industrial electronica soaking in the experimental sauce. Spiced up with oriental melodies and beautiful voice of Magda Glocka, it constitutes an attractive alternative for listeners from the outside of the independ music circle. [press-release]
Hollowing / Marspiter -- "Habashira" -- CD -- €10
2005 The Rectrix, TF12
Split release with 4 tracks from the Hollowing and 3 from Marspiter. The former move from cavernous noise ambient to aggressive tribal pieces, while Marspiter sticks to a subterranean form of neoclassical with a restrained and buried sound suitable for the epic movies of yore. A nice combination that covers a fair amount of sonic ground. [Mechanoise Labs]

Ion & Sophus -- "Transit Station" -- CD-R -- €7
2011 InterioRepertoR, Ir05, (ltd. 100)
New album by one of the projects of Sergey [S] (Exit In Grey, Sister Loolomie, Candyman & Evil Flowers, etc.) deals with the theme of railroad stations, so close to the heart of any Russian man. First long track (nearly 29 minuites) - samples of traffic controllers and recordings of rail station stmospheres interlaced in mild yet persistent substance, balancing between melody and drone, merging altogether into an unhurried ambiental soundscape. Second track features same kind of melody combined with wave-like celestial noise creating more active and cosmic feeling.
IRM -- "Red Album" -- CD -- €11
1999/2010 Autarkeia, acd 054, (ltd. 500)
To celebrate that a decade has passed since the release of the IRM "Red Album" LP, a CD reissue is now presented by Autarkeia. Martin Bladh and Erik Jarl had already known eachother for a few years when they began their mission as IRM in 1997. Fuelled by the rage of sonic power-houses like Whitehouse and Brighter Death Now, they recorded a demo tape that landed them a deal with Cold Meat Industry. Immediately upon its arrival, "The Red Album" was met by great enthusiasm as it breathed new life in a genre gone quite stagnant at the time. The sound displayed a unique amalgamation of Jarl's analogue bass-heavy eruptions, and Bladh's revelatory lyrics/vocals which were thematically more aligned with the apocalyptic preachings of Michael Gira and Nick Cave than the confrontationalism of William Bennett. Also the monochrome cover designs that IRM chose to work with stood in stark contrast to the cheap shock tactics that had infested the power electronics scene for so long. On subsequent landmark albums such as "Oedipus Dethroned" and "Virgin Mind" IRM honed their sound and dug deeper into the maze of the human psyche, while in parallell both Bladh and Jarl have explored new aestetic avenues with diverse solo projects. Now when looking back, it is perfectly clear that IRM have fulfilled and surpassed all the expectations that the release of "The Red Album" promised. More than ten years down the road, the adolescent debutants have become the revered minstrels of industrial gospel. [press-release]
It-Clings vs. Pneumatic Detach -- "The All Too Logical Descent Into Madness" -- CD -- €10
2007 Bugs Crawling Out Of People, bcp003
Spoken words by It-Clings with pounding beats provided by Pneumatich Detach (Hive Records). Not exactly the "hearing faint voices inside your head" kind either, this is more like inviting a spiteful cynic with a megaphone to rant away to his heart's content from the comfort of inside your cranium. From lucid observations to over-the-top diatribes, there's thankfully enough black humor in here to keep it from turning into a neurotic moan fest. You'll also find out more about a new creative use for a spoon. [Mechanoise Labs]
Jarl -- "Turbulence Colour" -- 2 CD -- €20
2008 Autarkeia, acd 030, (ltd. 500)
Turbulence Colour is the tenth album of talented Swedish composer Erik Jarl, containing two and a half hours of new, never released sound material in two CDs. In terms of music, Erik Jarl remains loyal to his original but dismal style. Very long, hypnotic tracks convey unbearable, depressing and morbid states of human psyche. Turbulence Colour is at the same time a journey into the grey matrix of anxiety where the listeners are masterfully taken through the sickly labyrinths of the author’s mind. The latest Erik Jarl’s release is the top class drone psychocollage packed into a very elegant package. [press-release]

Jarl -- "Vertigo Emission" -- CD -- €10
2009 Autarkeia, acd 045, (ltd. 200)
Vertigo Emission, the twelfth album of Erik Jarl, this Swedish genius of sound construction, is a logical continuation of his earlier works. The composer remains loyal to the style he propagates. Slow, very heavy and dismal sound waves grip the listeners and take them into the colourless, uncanny and morbid world. Like the previous ones, this album reminds a person who could earlier see the colours but became colour blind and in order to adapt to the new situation has to understand familiar yet irreversibly changed signs anew. The aesthetics of Erik Jarl's sonic decoration is like always very austere and merciless, however, it is marked by endless charm resulting from especially sensitive and subtle construction. Jarl -- "Vertigo Border" -- CD -- €10
2010 Autarkeia, acd 048, (ltd. 200)
Vertigo Border is the thirteenth album of the Swedish electronics favourite and the second volume of Vertigo trilogy. The magic number thirteen may imply that the album contains anything special… However, let us leave these considerations for the numerological masturbators. There is nothing more special in Vertigo Border than in the earlier Erik’s albums since he remains loyal to his credo to fuck the audience with his monotonic, depressing, icy and colour-blind sound waves, to throw a tie onto their necks and slowly strangle them out of this grinding, claustrophobic and cramped world. All Jarl's albums smack of enormous and refined weariness. This is already the thirteenth album and this is the thirteenth tomb on your little grave, this is the thirteenth swing of the spade with the soil onto your coffin. The coffin sealing you off with all your squeaks of madness from the outside. The coffin doomed to choke you out of your life. This is an existential coffin with existential suffocation caused by unbearable, morbid and monotonous reality embodied in the sounds of the album. This is the ice in which you are frozen and where, beholding the inexhaustibility of the infinity, you may neither move, nor speak or even wink. So, you are that mechanical toy paralysed by sadist existence. Jarl is a ghost monotonously repeating this to you, so do not expect anything hopeful from the thirteenth master's album. Nor from the fourteenth that is still to be composed. Nor from the fifteen either. Suffer because you are worth it! [press-release]
Jarl -- "Vertigo Rebirth" -- CD -- €10
2010 Autarkeia, acd 053, (ltd. 200)
Vertigo Rebirth is the fourteenth album of Swedish composer Erik Jarl and the third and last part of the Vertigo trilogy. It is difficult to say anything more about Jarl’s music on the whole. Like the earlier albums, this one generates particularly severe emotions that could be shortly defined as isolation, intoxication and especially negative, poisonous intuition. This impression is enhanced by the contrast. Erik opens the album with a track that has a construction uncharacteristic to his previous compositions. This composition contains quite strange rhythmics and is rather dynamic, which generates deceptive elation. But that’s only the first track of the album. The rest fling the audience back to the cold uncompromising space of drone, piercing and crushing all attempts to perceive the phenomenon of Jarl’s impasse. This is one more remarkable album for potential suicides. [press-release]

Kotra -- "Reset" -- CD -- €10
2008 Kvitnu, KVITNU 6
Reset serves up seventy minutes of scalpel-sharp electronic music from Ukraine-based Dmytro Fedorenko under the Kotra name. The Kvitnu head and one-time Nexsound co-producer (2003-07) likens his music to “ear needles” and the album's sixteen tracks are certainly invasive and uncompromising (though he's issued a dozen full-length albums and collaborations since establishing the Kotra name in 1998, Reset is his first solo release since 2004's Dissilient). Reset, which breaks up its longer pieces with five fragments, brutalizes the listener from the outset with “Rational Attack” and “Absent Response,” tracks whose machine-like precision and relentlessness exemplify the material's merciless tone. If there's a comparative point of reference for Kotra , it's Carsten Nicolai's Alva Noto whose material is also inhumanly cold yet rhythmically funky too. Kotra's “Vilna Struktura,” for example, merges high-pitched tonal cross-currents with pulsating throb in a way that suggests Alva Noto operating his gear in a particularly aggressive frame of mind. There's inarguably a sadomasochistic dimension to Kotra's music— the violent onslaught of grinding noise in “Solid Dissection” and “Fire Fractions” is so eardrum-piercing it's almost painful—but there's music to be heard in these eviscerations too, for those at least with dispositions strong enough to handle it. Low End Ensemble -- "s/t" -- CD-R -- €8
2009 .Angle.Rec., .A.R.05.07., (ltd. 125)
.ANGLE.REC. is proud to present the first production of Montreal’s own LOW END ENSEMBLE. Coming out from the ashes of multiple rock, progressive, blues and metal bands, Christian Lecompte joins forces with Simon Thibaudeau's oscillated and noiseful world. Witness the birth of Low End Ensemble. We promise no knobs to be left unturned, no feedback left unheard and rumble that would make an earthquake feel ashamed. Simon plays synths, effects, noise & bass Christian plays bass, feedback & moog. Simon also goes under the KVIK moniker, with releases on labels such as BRISE-CUL RECORDS or NAME RECORDS. The particularity of LOW END ENSEMBLE lies in the exchange of favours between the two sound creators of the project: due to his musician training as well as his experience and mastery in more conventional and ‘’written’’, styles, Christian embeds, in a certain structure, the dishevelled explorations of Simon Thibaudeau, while the latter, with his off-beat and noisy approach, incites Christian to let himself loose and somewhat break the mold of the rigidity and seriousness sometimes associated with more ‘’composed’’ music. From there, one could rightly qualify this first album as ‘’composed improv’’ or ‘’improvised compo’’...Treasures unfold over the 4 long tracks that compose this first official production …In the end, a disc that is more atmospheric than full-on noise. To be filed under organic psych/drone. [press-release]
Lunar Abyss Deus Organum -- "Uzor" -- CD -- €10
2011 Biosonar^Labyrint 23, (ltd. 323)
The third "real" CD by LADO combines tracks recorded in 2002-2004 and due to various circumstances initially spread over various compilations and EPs ("Heilige Feuer III", "Thalamus II", "Holy Mother Russia", "Listopad Vot On", "Brusnika"). Now the circle is closed and this CD represents the pieces almost in the same order as they were created. The album reflects a certain period of creativity and especially author's interest in proto-Eurasian cultures. The compositions are created from acoustic and electronic structures, drum and noise loops, voice samples, scientific & journalistic recordings and deep wave drones.
Makoto, Kawabata -- "The Tales Of The Dream Planet" -- CD -- €13
2009 Housepig, HPIG-15, (ltd. 500)
Maldur Atai -- "Checkpoint" -- CD -- €10
2010 Autarkeia, acd 047, (ltd. 300)
This is the first full album of industrial/ambient project Maldur Atai, titled Checkpoint. This dose of music of nearly one hour emanates strong and solid atmosphere that grows, develops and changes during each exquisitely constructed track. The notional indexes of the album touch upon a variety of religious aspects. Yet, they all are related to violence in religion and religion as an arcane or masked violator acting in informational reality. This album reveals religion as a system marketed and propagated by invisible conspirators. The system marked by powerful structure, network and techniques. It exists as a secret institute in the informational field of hallucinations, entices with its promises and attractive images, however, in reality opens horrible nightmares, marauds and kills. What is worst in this matrix is that it chooses children as its main target. The adults have been conditioned in their childhood so that they would sacrifice their children to the system later. Checkpoint is a filtration camp where the children's souls are met by elitist creatures of the arcane society wearing black mantles and hiding their faces. They lie, they enslave, they manipulate and they involve you in the vicious circle with almost no hope of retreat. Checkpoint is an abstract, universal and purified vision of Maldur Atai in which many will recognise their own very personal experiences and the symbols of the everyday secret war. [press-release]
Maldur Atai -- "Verger" -- CD -- €10
2011 Autarkeia, acd 060, (ltd. 300)
History is falsified. Facts are fiercely distorted, while the reasons for that are hidden with even more ferocity. A powerful network of a secret organisation creates phantasmagorical projection that has nothing to do with reality. Official explanations for the millions of people killed during the Second World War and the official causes of this war smack of absolute farce, while the political leaders have never existed in the first place. These were new generation 4D holograms. The actual war causes are concealed by a formidable conspiracy and lie in the pre-Buddhist epoch, the history of Maldur Atai puzzle. Although concealed so vigorously, the true causes of the Second World War and all other wars have been far from economic or political. They have to do with religion, the old Maldur Atai cult and the anticipated second Resurrection. According to the conspiracy, those building the falsified hologram of the world do everything to prevent the prophesy from happening and the ancient cult from returning as predicted. They do not want the truth to be disclosed. They seek the reference and the element containing the encoded signs of its Revelation. It is suspected that the main obstruction of time machines and projector of holograms is hidden in deep labyrinths under one of the small countries that has been responsible for the Crusades of the ancient times as well as all invasive wars. Indeed strange events took place on the threshold of the Second World War, the bloodiest war in human history. A secret leader has rallied all his agents and they have performed some kind of special ritual, the purpose of which is not known until today. A number of signs were seen and then the war raged with lethal outcomes. The truth remained hidden. What does the leader conceal from us? And, after all, who is he? What will his next ritual bring forth? The rebirth of Maldur Atai cult or the Third World War? MALDUR ATAI’s album Verger is exactly about all of this. [press-release]
Maldur Atai -- "Vermin" -- CD -- €10
2010 Autarkeia, acd 049, (ltd. 300)
Vermin is the second full album coming from the industrial/ambient project Maldur Atai. The subject-matter of this album is the arcane supernatural world that is sometimes accidentally opened by unawares people. They summon demons they cannot control later. Vermin is a contact with otherworldly powers with unpredictable aftermath, the word about which will spread for ages. It is an album testifying the outburst of aggression destroying safe existence. This is one of the gloomiest and most persuasive albums released recently. The atmosphere of the tracks varies greatly, yet they have one common impact: they make your hair rise. Languorous, ominous and full of longing sounds turn into devouring mentally disturbed elements. Rich sample library was used for the composition of the album. The layout of samples in the sonic fabric is not accidental. The place of each sample is meticulously chosen and well-thought, so the album seems incomposite and involving. Vermin is the invasion of powerful and especially malicious demons into the everyday life upon the accidental uttering of the forbidden mantra. Do not forget to make the circle in chalk, the vermin knock on you door. [press-release]
Microspora -- "s/t" -- CD-R -- €7
2011 Operator Produkzion, OPERPRODUKT73, (ltd. 83)
Operator Produkzion opens a series of releases by Microspora - most likely the least known project of the "Leningrad noise school". It's creator - Valery Rakcheev - belongs to a group of such artists as A. Lebedev-Frontov and K. Stoukaline, he's been active (in the fields of music, fine arts, philophonia, audiophilia, etc.) in the underground since late 70-s, but somehow hasn't released anything from his music until today, just making some copies of his albums for friends. This album is filled with old school power droning electronics, pulsating minimal noises and technogenic claustromanic rumble. Last track is a sort of experimental downtempo industrial with samples from German history of the second third of XX century. Handmade montage cover with the graphics of V. Rakcheev. [press-release]
The Moglass -- "Sparrow Juice" -- CD -- €10
2006 Nexsound, ns45
The group under the Moglass came into being in 1997, in Kharkiv / Ukraine. New records of the Moglass are spontaneous improvisations, mostly live records, which by no means always can be called free-noise because sometimes they are very gentle and melodic. Up to date they released 6 full-lengths and various compilation appearances, have collaborations and recordings with Tom Carter (Charalambides), Vanessa Arn (Primordial Undermind), Anla Courtis (Reynols), Andrey Kiritchenko, Kotra. Toured with Jackie O' Motherfucker, My Cat Is An Alien. [label info]
Molnija Aura -- "Utopian Suns" -- CD -- €10
2010 Topheth Prophet, TP020
Molnija Aura is an electronic ambient/glitch project of Davide Del Col and Andrea Marutti. "Utopian Suns" is their debut album under this project and is influenced by the theme of old satellites floating around our planet... Davide Del Col started his solo adventure as Ornament in 1999, with the death-industrial oriented "Strychninlovenectar". His second work entitled "Adorers", was released shortly after on Oktagon Records. In 2000 came the self-produced "Unicorn Lullaby" (...re-released later by Afe...), his most oniric and beautiful album, followed by the abysmal "Yzaniaveis" in 2002. Ornament's latest release entitled "Effortless" was made available in mp3 format. This work represented a return to the project's harsh roots. Davide Del Col is now involved in an electro-experimental project called Echran along with Fabio Volpi (a member of the Otolab collective). Their first album was released by Ebria Records and Smallvoices in 2005. He is also taking care of his cosmic-influenced electronic solo project called O Diabo De Vila Velha... Andrea Marutti began his experiments with music in the early '90s. He is better known for his Amon and Never Known projects. He had several releases on Eibon, Amplexus, Silentes, Drone, Taalem, etc. He is also responsible of many other projects dealing with different styles of electronic music: Lips Vago, Wolkspurz & Ramirez, Spiral, etc. Recently he also started recording and releasing music under his own name, in duo with Nimh as Hall of Mirrors and again in duo with Andrea Ferraris (Ur, Airchamber 3, etc.) as Sil Muir. During the years he has published on his label - Afe - countless releases of electronic / experimental music created by a lot of italian and international musicians. [press-release]

Nole Plastique -- "Escaperhead" -- CD -- €10
2008 Nexsound, nsp03
After having a succesful net-release by Russian band Nole Plastique "Sourire En Souriant [ns48]" and a great performance on Detali Zvuku festival in Kyiv / 2007, Nexsound is very happy to release their first full lenght CD called "Escaperhead". Nole Plastique was initially the project of Roman Kutnov, who lives in Kazan (Russia) and now it's Aleksei Belousov who joined the project in 2007. During the last few years since 2004, Nole Plastique has produced several releases that one could call "romantic noise". Nevertheless at the moment Nole Plastique is strongly attracted by songs and rather acoustic sound. Their music revealed softness of musical forms in an endless sound flow along the lines of the contemporary forms of psychedelic folk music. [label info]

Ojra & Kiritchenko -- "A Tangle Of Mokosha" -- CD -- €10
2010 Nexsound, nsp05 / The Lollipoppe Shoppe, LSCD 010
Nexsound and The Lollipoppe Shoppe present an ethnotronic collaboration of the neo-folk band Ojra and Andrey Kiritchenko. A Tangle Of Mokohsha is a 10 track album in which songs of pagan and Chiristian origins collected by Ojra in their ethnic expeditions through Eastern Ukraine infused on electronic music by Andrey Kiritchenko. These interpretations of authentic songs glister of versatile sonic palettes. Here one can distinguish ambient and electronic experiments, field-recordings of nature and bright sound of traditional instruments. This, without a doubt, vivid piece of work has ability to conduct the listeners imagination and to melt him/her down inside of the music. [label info]

Oorchach -- "Chtonikka" -- CD -- €10
2008 Autarkeia, acd 027, (ltd. 300)
Chtonikka is the second album of OORCHACH, Lithuanian post industrial project. Six new tracks are dedicated to the arcane world Chtonikka whose vision the author conveys through the gloomy industrial loops, coarse and dirty lo-fi sound. Powerful tribal rhythms provide the tracks with vehement dynamics, while the album as a whole smacks of strong archaic mood. [label info]

Ordo Templi Orientis -- "The Distances of Cold" -- CD -- €7
2010 Kasla Distribution, KASLA002CD
Unusual depressive work. The base of this music lies in Shoegaze / Postrock styles, but unlike the majority of these bands, OTO prefer not instrumental tracks, but traditional song structures. Vocals, atmosphere and some melodies resemble most bright girls-bands of indie stage, like Lush and Cat Power, but the musicians refer themselves to depressive black metal making the classification even more tangled (but don't be afraid - there's nothing from black metal here). Interesting atmosphere, quality sound, good English of the female vocalist. [YAOP]
Ouroboros -- "Opus Tartari" -- CD -- €10
2011 Zoharum, ZOHAR 018-2
'Opus Tartari' is the latest album of Italian dark ambient project which - in its leader's own words - after years of esoteric and alchemist studies decided to transfer his own experiences into music. Ouroboros should be then treated as a medium used in search for its own philosophical stone. Compositions included on the album lead the listener into the world of antique and medieval times due to their tunes and the singing in Latin. Mystical, slightly sacral character of the tracks has become its leitmotif recognisible for the band. Marco Grosso known for his collaboration with many session musicians (with Claudio Dondo of Runes Order) asked a lot of vocalists (Nuna Luna - soprano voice, Sorath Isis, Aleph Zero, Malice) to participate in the recordings as well. This resulted in the creation of 'Opus Tartari' - an intriguing, emotional, full of unsettling beauty and esoterica journey. The album can be likened to early releases of Diamanda Galas, The Moon and the Nightspirit and The Moon Lay Hidden Beneath a Cloud. The album has been released in a 3-panel digipak. [press-release]

Perlonex / Keith Rowe / Charlemagne Palestine -- "Tensions" -- 2 CD -- €13
2006 Nexsound, NS54
This double-CD documents the 5th anniversary concert of Perlonex who on this occasion invited Keith Rowe(AMM) and Charlemagne Palestine as guests in order to feature different aspects of their musical work in two distinct sets. All material is presented as played live and no editing or overdubs have been applied. Recorded at Podewil by Christian Malejka on September 11th 2004 Mixed by Ignaz Schick & Burkhard Beins at AudioCue Studio Berlin... While Perlonex normally don't perform with guests the collaboration with Ch. Palestine, this unusual confrontation has been continued and Palestine became a frequent & only guest of the group. After the first meeting documented on this double CD there were several concerts taking place in France, Switzerland & Austria. A recent evening in Vienna which was recorded & broadcasted by ORF radio station documents how intense & unusual the quality of this exchange became. An 80 minutes long stream of intense drones cutting against quotations of Gershwin's "It ain't necessarily so". [label info]
Rapoon -- "Media Studies" -- CD -- €12
2011 Aquarellist, aquarel 17-11, (ltd. 500)
New album is dedicated to the research of mass media’s manipulation of people’s minds. "These recordings include the voice of David Icke. They reflect on the role of the media in shaping and informing opinions (the war in Iraq for example showed the shameless use of the media by a government intent on war whatever the real facts were) and in furthering prejudices and persecution of those who have differing views and dare to express them. In 1991 Icke was "interviewed" on a well known prime time chat show with the sole purpose of public humiliation for "entertainment" value. There are many instances of the use of media for manipulation and propaganda and many have succumbed to the pressures when the media has been directed against them by malevolent forces (Dr David Kelly, UN weapons inspector in Iraq). The words of David Icke are used here in a benign and impartial way. Whatever your views about the thoughts of the man you have to admire his tenacity against the odds." [Robin Storey]

Soudnick, Nick -- "Depot of Genuis Delusions (Akhemusic Vol. 6)" -- CD -- €10
2011 Ultra, UCD 27, (ltd. 500)
New material by Nick Soudnick (ZGA, Vetrophonia, etc.) was recorded especially for the series of performances by Russian Engineering Theatre AKHE under the title of "Depot of Genuis Delusions". From the first seconds we hear powerful orchestral industrial - or is it industrialized classical music continuing the glorious futuristic traditions of Prokofiev? It take turns to multilayered musique concrete filled with manifold of gurglings and murmur of water, clanks, crashes and cuts of noise. Then the musical vortex intertwists even more dashingly: metallic rasps typical for ZGA, clip-clops and all-pervading bass strings, microsound fuss and sickly violin abstractions, mechanichal clockwork-like rhythmic sound constructions and soulful sounds of cello and accordion... Masterful work, full of completely different moods, in which despite all this variety one can distinctly feel the peculiar author's approach.
Stary Olsa -- "Heroic Epos. Songs of Knights and Gentry of the Great Lithuania" -- CD -- €11

Styczynski, Marek -- "Cybertotem Remix Project" -- CD-R -- €7
2009 World Flag Records, WFR 029
In 2007, after I had released a solo project entitled Cyber Totem, I announced an open project whose main assumption was granting uncommercial access to two basic sound environments from that record to other musicians. The two sound environments were studio preparations based on natural sound recordings such as the sounds of the Carpathian mofettas and acoustic instruments such as didjeridu and an American Indian musical toy from Oregon. It was on these sound environments that I based two compositions from the original album: Dolphin's Death and Cyber Totem. I suggested that this procedure be followed by other musicians, which was a kind of exercise in composition. In the years 2008 and 2009 various musicians were sending over their own versions/visions of the compositions and, as a result of a number of discussions, arrangements and modifications the final shape of this CD, which presents an overview of those works, was established. I decided to publish eleven pieces by eight artists: CENTRUM, HATI, RAMUNAS JARAS, TREPANG, DUBCORE, EMITER, WIDOTA, ACCOMPLICE AFFAIR". [from the author]
Technology of Silence -- "s/t" -- CD-R -- €7

The hero of the story is some city, a kind of hypertrophied Tchernobyl. After the catastrophe the city has become empty, only momeries remain from people living there. Radiation has mangled the bodies and minds of those who remained alive and ventured to stay there. The city appears in two images - as ruins of high technology civilization died from it's own hands, and as an accumulator of human memories, emotions and feelings. Troum -- "Mare Idiophonika" -- CD -- €12
2010 Tourette, tourette 019, (ltd. 500)
Mare Idiophonika ('The Self-Playing Ocean') is the new album by the German duo TROUM and contains the studio-version of the live programme Troum performed in 2007, with a new ending added later. Using bass, guitars, metal objects, voices and choirs and for the first time also singing-bowls and ‘dry’ beats Troum creates yet another magnificent journey into unknown dimensions. Its sounds are stunning and enchanting, leaving one in a state of bewilderment while exploring the world of the unconscious. With its compelling drones and haunting atmosphere Mare Idiophonika is a masterpiece of transcendental soundscapes. It is a mind-blowing dreamy and moving experience, reaching out towards the inner self and beyond. [Silken Tofu] American version.
Troum -- "Seeing-Ear Gods" -- CD -- €10
2011 Zoharum, ZOHAR 017-2
'Seeing-Ear Gods' is the second collaboration between Troum and Zoharum. The album in question is the re-release of the obscure CDR which saw the light of the day 5 years ago on Discorporeality Recordings label. Here it is repackaged (3-panel digipak) and gloriously remastered by Anders Peterson (from Ghost Sounds mastering studio) responsible for dusting off other Troum / Maeror Tri releases. 'Seeing-Ear Gods' is quite different a release from 'Autopoiesis / Nahtscato' released on Zoharum last year. It's not as multilayered or varied, but at the same time is much more minimalist and hence very hypnotic. It works more on the subconscious level. It demonstrates how to create a mindblowing atmosphere with very little sounds involved. Just one track, divided into 6 separate parts, but be assured that you will press the 'repeat' button a lot of times. [press-release]

Zavoloka / AGF -- "Nature Never Produces The Same Beat Twice" -- CD -- €10
2006 Nexsound, NS44
HANDMADE BIO BEATS this is a collaboration between ukrainian musician, producer and graphic designer ZAVOLOKA aka KATERYNA ZAVOLOKA and german vocalist, poet, musician and producer AGF aka ANTYE GREIE AGF contacted ZAVOLOKA in 2003 after hearing her tracks on the internet and they soon realized a passion for each others music and decided to work together. During several live collaborations, for instance in belgium and france, and some sound material exchanges they developed the concept of creating TECHNO LIKE TREES. Nature beats. The idea was to extract sounds from existing and form a variation of beats and vocal snippets to make powerful techno of nature which can be seen as identical and not similar as structure of plants and nature. Repeating of otherness and repeating of difference. Both artists can be seen as huge fans and admirers of nature and the inspiration evolved out of structure of forest leaves and berries translated into musical rhythm and moods. One technique they used to produce these irregular but repetitive patterns was setting up an old school metronome tik tak at xxx beat per minute and count in and start to battle the beat with drumming on self designed sound banks directly recording into powerful converters the structure of the pieces are woody, spicy, discontinuous, recurrent, flavor, like: grain, sappiness, chime, species, extraction and vitality... NATURE NEVER PRODUCES THE SAME BEAT TWICE contains 50 one minute compositions each dedicated to a certain plant. the tracks are split into 5 subgroups: trees / bushes / meadow / flowers / spices. The language the artists communicate in is english but both bring in their native tongue by naming plants and both are singing and speaking ukrainian as well as interpreting ukrainian traditional folk lyrics. The record was mainly recorded in AGF's studio in berlin kreuzberg in july 2005. Edited and crafted in kyiv, ukraine at ZAVOLOKA's studio and mastered and completed in berlin prenzlauer berg in vladislav delays studio the white room in autumn 2005. The material is strictly female touch and without comparison to existing sound on planet earth. The design, photos, ornaments and packing are made by ZAVOLOKA. [press-release]

15 Degrees Below Zero -- "Between Checks And Artillery, Between Work And Image" -- 10" -- €10
2007 .Angle.Rec., .A.R.10.03., (ltd. 500)
A trio from San Francisco composed of Daniel Blomquist, Mark Wilson and Michael Addison Mersereau, 15 DEGREES BELOW ZERO, with previous releases in CD or CDR format on the FORCE OF NATURE and CRUNCH POD labels, brings us their first production in vinyl format. It is comprised of 2 exclusive tracks, on 10’’ vinyl, released on the Montreal based label .ANGLE.REC., still fond of the vinyl disc. 2 tracks which suggest an even more brilliant and exploded future for this exploratory vehicle born on the ashes of the famous IMPERIAL FLORAL ASSAULT UNIT project. The trio’s most recent CD, ‘’Under A Morphine Sky’’, offered a well-balanced perspective between improvisation and composition, a sound alchemy that is realized without any pretension under a purple and…of course… morphined sky. Power-Electronics in symbiosis with Dark-ambient in symbiosis with Guitar-Noise in symbiosis with various layered and shifting acoustic and electronic elements …The result and the overall feel were stunning. This 10incher is the log ical follow-up to the madness. 2 face(t)s, 2 slices of life. A side, ‘’KRONOS’’, proposes us a guitar-based canvas with multiples effects and spacious microworlds, with an accelerating insanity and intensity, an 8-9 minute segment which flies like the wind. It can also be considered as an extrapolation on the last minutes of ‘’THE RETURNING’’, found on B Side; ‘’THE RETURNING’’ begins with an epic lo-fi martial/neoclassical/doom segment but rather soon, haunting post-rock/shoegaze guitar-based structures come to occupy the main stage, and the power electronics segment also turns up very quickly following that, the whole being accomplished with a constant mastery and concern for texture. It is chaotic, foggy buy damned melodic and moving …and it does not stop gaining in intensity. Towards the final segment, we have samples and then a melodic guitar-based motif with a healthy dose of echo, which reverberates while consuming itself, till the end … 15DBZ has crazy surprises in store for us. Discover why, now. Many ambiences and textures on this 10’’ remind us of the reasons why we got interested, in the first place, in various ‘’nocturnal’’ and/or ‘’subterranean’’ musical universes. The beauty of it all is that here, everything is presented in condensed fashion. 2 tracks which fly too fast despite their relative length. Another welcome add to the .ANGLE.REC. vinyl series. Hyena Hive -- "See Saw Sav Ann Ah!" -- 7" -- €8
2009 .Angle.Rec., .A.R.07.02., (ltd. 250)
The more it goes, the more our two hyenas, with their cathartic noisiance, are in demand in Montreal for live sets, namely performances with projections, or tracks presented in very particular contexts. The shockwaves concocted by the HYENA HIVE duo now accompany various short films of the Montreal underground, for example creations by KARL LEMIEUX and FREDERICK MAHEUX. However, HYENA HIVE’s sonic imprint was rarely captured on disc. Well, on the .ANGLE.REC. label, there was the extremely limited SERENGETI SERENDIPITY cdr, a testimony to the first phase in the evolution of HYENA HIVE. In their beginnings, they were delivering a very intense, rich and most honest noise-rock sound… but after that, percussions vanished to give way to a sound with a more power-electronics colour, whose presence is now well affirmed in HYENA HIVE’s audio universe. To document this phase, the flamboyant and demented SEE SAW SAV ANN AH! in 7inch format. Two tracks which do not let the listener rest, and by far, one of the most abrasive releases from the .ANGLE.REC. camp. Our two hyenas were in an outstanding shape that day… like always, we may add! This is in the image of all their most recent live performances! Lots of intensity to spare for fearless ears! [press-release]

Aere Aeternus -- "Humanity Needs No Funeral" -- CD -- €10
2008 Kaosthetik Konspiration, KSTK 006
The dominant atmosphere combines a sense of impending insanity with sexual deviancy and a large dollop of occultism, creating a dark and troubling misanthropic sojourn that is relatively unique. The final track is probably the most musical, as it is centred on a guitar arpeggio, but no such concessions to convention are present elsewhere on this deeply troubling disk. The accompanying video of "Invocation" shows a Satanic ritual in all its kitchsy glory. Recommended for those looking for something a darker than the usual entities. [Chronicles Of Chaos]
Atum -- "Legendy Miejskie" -- CD -- €11
2009 Beast Of Prey, bop 6.7
"Legendy miejskie / Urban Legends", the latest album by ATUM, has just arrived! "Urban Legends", arguably one of the strongest titles of the Beast of Prey label, is an extraordinary album, composed mostly of field recordings registered in Jaworzno, the home town of ATUM. It is an attempt at reconstructing the surroundings in order to distill something that eludes the every-day experience. Despite its private character, the message of the Legends is universal as well. Everyone of us passes dozens of places we think are "tamed", places seemingly devoid of meaning. Just a little effort is what it takes to dispel this illusion... Musically, the album is rather varied. It's a combination of field recordings, drones, whispers, and sounds of different acoustic instruments. The purpose is to reveal the oneiric dark side of the surrounding world. Guests such as Infamis (acoustic guitar), Tomasz K, Rafal Pach, and Piotr U (the author's friends from Jaworzno) contributed to the making of the album... Album released in colour digipack, full professional production. [press-release]

Aube -- "Ambera Planeta Wawar" -- CD -- €10
2007 Autarkeia, acd 025
AUBE Ambera Planeta Wawar goldenCD was the first bootleg issued by AUTARKEIA label. However, after the author Akifumi Nakajima apologised to us for his "negligence“, the misunderstandings between AUTARKEIA and Akifumi were cleared out. In the meantime after the author recognised the bootleg, AUBE Ambera Planeta Wawar goldenCD has acquired a new status. This publication has become an official release of the project, while its previous concept (that of a bootleg) became meaningless. The exclusive record by the Japanese genius is based on excellent psychedelic ambient and the collages of extreme, structural noise music. The release is sold in an elegant digipack, which is probably the first in AUBE history. [press-release]

Bocksholm -- "Rinna Leathercluster Liveaction 2008" -- CD -- €10
2009 Autarkeia, acd 044, (ltd. 500)
Lina Baby Doll [Deutsch Nepal] and Peter Andersson [Raison D’etre], two famous punks of the industrial scene, played the havoc again. In the beginning there was a very drunken gig that resulted in a very drunken album. Nevertheless, it is impossible to accuse the musicians of unprofessional recording or unusual state when recording. Since seas of beer are the most favourable condition for the records and gigs of these Swedish blokes, the concert in Malmo is simply perfect. In the meantime, well-mastered record does not leave any hints of non-studio work. Bearing in mind the reputation of these well-know masters of havoc, no wonder that this record is dominated by remarkable, powerful industrial rhythms, outbursts of psychedelic ambient, intoxicated, gargling vocals, sombre and dismal atmosphere transfused by alcoholic delirium, alcoholic despair and alcoholic hysteria that has only one culprit... No, no, it is not the alcohol, but this isolated, remote Swedish provincial town Bocksholm with its fauna and polluted nature that had such a heavy impact on the childhood of these alcohol addicts. If you are familiar with the work of Contagious Orgasm then this is similar in style to their previous work accept with a bit more “sheen” then normal and more variety in their samples. It also has quite a lighthearted feel and conjures up thoughts of a trip through the Japanese country-side, like an audio documentary or something. Overall very nice work and highly recommended, these guys are classic. [Blood Ties]
Contemplatron -- "Antarabhava / The Six Realms" -- CD -- €10
2005 Wrotycz Records, WRT 002, (ltd. 500)
The Sanskrit word "Antarabhava" means "the intermediate state" and in particular refers to the state between the death and the moment of the next birth. This is the sonic journey of the soul wandering through the nooks of another worlds. The second part describes the six realms which, according to the Buddhist tradition, symbolizes six destructive emotions: ignorance, hatred, enslaving desire, jealousy, pride and greed. Each track is dedicated to the different emotion and all of them sounds like tunes from the outer space. The cd comes in a cardboard sleeve and is limited to 500 copies. [press-release]
Contemplatron -- "Delog" -- CD -- €10
2008 Wrotycz Records, WRT 007
After a successful debut album Wrotycz Records is proud to announce the second release of this Polish dark ambient act. The DELOG experience is extraordinary, marvellous, even within the esoteric context of Tibetan Buddhism. The Tibetan word DELOG refers to one who has crossed the threshold of death and returned to tell about it. The person who is recognised as DELOG lays without any sign of breath, pulse or body warmth for many days. During that his or her mind journeys to other realms of experience: the pure display of enlightened mind as well as existence within samsaric delusion and ignorance. [press-release]

Delplanque, Mathias -- "Ma Chambre Quand Je N'Y Suis Pas (Montreal)" -- CD -- €10
2006 Mondes Elliptiques, .E.Q.05.02, (ltd. 500)
This is the stereo version of a sound installation presented at Montreal's Studio Cormier in December 2004. It is the second part of the "Ma chambre quand je n'y suis pas" series. The piece is based on the recording of 'silences', i.e. the recording of sound produced in spaces with no human presence. The sound of an 'empty' Studio Cormier was therefore used as the material for the production of this piece. The sound takes were done during the quietest moments of the day, by means of microphones placed strategically throughout the Studio by the artist. The sounds gathered were then amplified, and their frequencies, accentuated to the extreme. In the installation itself, the sound was broadcast in multi channel mode over 11 loudspeakers, including a subwoofer, in four Studio Cormier spaces ('Hall', 'Living room', 'Bedroom', 'Lab'). This installation closed Mathias Delplanque's Montreal residency at Studio Cormier from July to December 2004, as part of Les Inclassables program, proposed by the Association francaise d'action artistique (AFAA), in partnership with the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Quebec (CALQ) and the Office franco-quebecois pour la jeunesse (OFQJ)... The result of the experiment, as presented on this record, constitutes a genuine drone odyssey playing on fullness and emptiness, presence and absence, "speak" and "non-speak"... One long track full of subtle movement and enlivened with various underlying currents. A sheer delight... Mathias Delplanque is known, among others, for his releases under the LENA moniker on the Quartermass label. As THE MISSING ENSEMBLE, Mathias Delplanque, John Sellekaers and Daniel De Los Santos recorded the HIDDEN DOORS cd, released on MONDES ELLIPTIQUES (.E.Q.05.01.). [press-release]
Donis -- "Alexandreia" -- CD -- €10
2007 Autarkeia, acd 018, (ltd. 500)
Donatas Bielkauskas - the man having keen ear, primeval curiosity, solid musical education and exquisite taste, who has released into the world the musical project DONIS (tribute in Prussian) - expands the space of creative quests with every new album until it transgresses this single regular cultural medium - music related with the tradition of Lithuanian ethnos, which he is the expert of. This time the artist has embarked on a new challenging journey, that is, to compose music revealing the unknown spirit of antiquity. His efforts have resulted in Alexandreia album that serves as a deep, pure and dreamy manifest to the ancient times. Tranquil, transparent and persuasive ambient stream prevails in the tracks. The archaic winds of different nations tastefully add to it in some of the tracks. These include hornpipe, bagpipes, mesmerising rhythms of tabor and mystifying bells. Soft and velvety voice of vocalist Alwyda, who has created the key vein of the album, opens the idealised femininity of the antiquity and conveys emotionally-charged world vision of genius Konstantin Kavafi where the Mediterranean past and present, the East and the West, the Greeks and the barbarians meet in the catharsis of profound sadness and wisdom, where the fall of civilisation witnessed in the vanishing cultural heritage is revealed. The Greek poetry recited in an enchanting voice and the ambient melting the words with elemental force embrace the audience who do not even know the archaic language. Alexandreia album will not disappoint the lovers of Dead Can Dance, Kameras 48, Raison D’etre music, either. [press-release]

Fire In The Head -- "As The Nest Burns" -- CD -- €10
2005 Autarkeia, acd 009, (ltd. 400)
Fire In The Head is probably one of the garish artists of noise/power electronics, representing the famous school of the USA. The project's author Michael Page previously participated at live performances of the legendary Giovanni Balistrer's project SLOGUN, also closely linked to the livery of NY sound terrorists. As The Nest Burns is short, but highly hysterical, brutal and dark album of noise/power electronics stylistics. Michael Page masterly plays with amplitude of different tracks intension. Slackened, leaden, psychedelic sounds overgrow into the avalanche of terribly aggressive and hysterical noise, gradually flooding back as unusual and uncomfortable sound stream. As The Nest Burns is a sort of element of otherworld civilization, starting its sudden extension, transformation and smashing attack. There are many fragments of distorted vocal in this album, making the tracks especially threatful. This is a completely new, reformed attack of USA power electronics tradition against the normal and moral world. Do you know what happens as the nest burns??? Then the children burn!!! Flint Glass / Telepherique -- "Information Gigabyte" -- CD -- €10
2007 .Angle.Rec., .A.R.05.05., (ltd. 404)
Musically speaking, many artists from the industrial and post-industrial scenes have addressed the topic of future information shock, be it explicitly or implicitly; for example SPK, as early as 1979-1980…In 2006, it is still a hot topic, more than ever in fact. With a will to sonically explore the intricate and infinite mazes of information spun in the last few dozens years, and illustrate the tremendous changes which have been occurring during that period and which affect us all, TELEPHERIQUE’s Klaus Jochim and FLINT GLASS’ Gwenn Tremorin have joined forces for this collaborative album, which is indeed a concept album about information overload, the speed at which technological changes occur and the negative effects of this information overload on our psychological state. Both artists have sampled and gathered a great deal of sounds taken from computers or conferences on the topic, in a totally digital way from the FLINT GLASS perspective, and in an analogic/old-school fashion from the TELEPHERIQUE perspective. The idea was to confront the technological evolution with itself in the composition process, in a chronological way, by imagining the evolution from 1980 or so, up until now. You can then expect a pleasing and surprising ‘shock’ between FLINT GLASS’ trademark distorted idm-ish beats, intertwined with sinister and expansive atmospheres, and TELEPHERIQUE’s dirty soundscapes and machinesque old-school and sometimes or often lo-fi drifts for which they have been renowned since 1989. Let aural information flood you! [label info]

Girnu Giesmes -- "Tiems, Kas Budi Uz Slenkscio" -- CD -- €10
2006 Autarkeia, acd 014, (ltd. 500)
Laurynas Jukonis, the author of GIRNU GIESMES project and the pioneer of the Lithuanian post-industrial, has dedicated his ninth album "Tiems, kas budi uz slenkscio" (For Those Who Keep Vigil Beyond the Threshold) to the next element of the archaic worldview of the Lithuanians, that is, the mythological sagas. To be more precise, it is dedicated to the weird reality functioning in accordance with specific laws in sagas that has been deeply ingrained in human mind from time immemorial. The modern rationalism has not managed to destroy this system until our days. Probably the mythological reality with all its strange creatures can relatively be called the remnant of the evolved shamanism. This is arcane, but not necessarily unapproving worldview of the supernatural world as the dark powers. The latest GIRNU GIESMES album conveys exactly these features. Each track projects a fascinating interpretation of the archaic thinking system in music. Vivacious and a bit eerie music of "Tiems, kas budi uz slenkscio" album is difficult to define in terms of music style. Some tracks sound with mysterious psychedelic ambient, while the others reverberate with bizarre broken rhythms and loops. Yet, a strong and interesting mood is undoubtedly created by the rich and professionally compiled sound collages featured in the CD. [press-release]

Grundik + Slava -- "Frogs" -- CD -- €10
2005 Topheth Prophet, TP004
A really cool take on the experimental ambient genre, creating beautiful soundscapes using dark synth sweeps, found sounds, guitars and a bunch of other things. There are a few tracks where they go into completely different territory - especially the second track, which sounds like some aliens kidnapped a funk band - but mostly they stick to the really experimental ambient stuff. "Frogs" also features the talents of Chaos As Shelter, Igor Krutugolov and Victoria Hanna, the latter of which contributes vocals on half of the tracks, giving them a really weird feel, adding a somewhat playful side to the darker tracks [...] There are some more traditional middle eastern elements here and there, but mostly this disc keeps to its really nice experimental dark ambient textures with the previously mentioned Hanna's vocals popping in to add even more texture. There are always new sounds coming into the mix, it never gets boring. [industrial.org]

Ivan Samshit -- "Essential Shit" -- CD -- €10
2007 Quasi Pop Records, QPOP CD047, (ltd. 500)
The very first (and still remains the best) electro-pop Ukrainian group Ivan Samshit has recorded 12 (or even more) albums in period from 1987 to 1997, but very few of them was released on cassettes in Ukraine and Germany in 90th. “Essential Shit” is a compilation of the best tracks from these neglected recordings, that are available on CD for the first time ever! 19 tracks have been re-recorded directly from original pre-historyc master-cassettes and reel-tapes and carefully re-mastered using both modern digital and vintage analogue restoration equipment. In result, the sound of this CD is very similar to the tape sources — warm, deep, hissing and a bit raw in it's primal beauty. There are a lot of the well-known real “pop-hits” presented on CD and some more experimetal tracks as well. [press-release]

2005 .Angle.Rec., .A.R.05.03., (ltd. 500)
Coming from the speedcore/hardcore area of electronic music, Montreal's LCEDP now delves into the world of rhythm'n'noise. His first CD creation, De L'Utilité Des Convoyeurs, takes up where urban exploration leaves off, and strives to return all that decaying matterЕ to life. A vibrant life, a powerful cry of joy, sadness, anger and bliss altogether. The machines are operational again, and they have a lot to say. LCEDP listened to their message and translated it into his elegant yet stormy and abrasive musical style. The result, you hold in your hands. Noisy and punchy and ultra rhythmic, with a few more introspective and abstract momentsЕ 21 impressions transcoded by LCEDP + 1 additional impression revised by ORPHX. Grey sleeve with tone-on-tone embossed patterns and insert. [label info]
Lebensessenz -- "Die Letzten Momente Von Werther" -- CD-R -- €4
2010 Valgriind, VG 42, (ltd. 120)
The new work by this neoclassic project is dedicated to the novel of J.W.Goethe "Die Leiden des jungen Werther" (1774) which describes the German reality of XVIII century and the dramatic personal feelings of main character who ends up with suicide. This novel brought fame to Goethe, none of the books of that time were read that much by the contemporaries as this novel. The circulation of the novel cased an epidemy of following suicides in Europe, which was later called the Werther effect. This effect was so strong that some of the countries had to prohibit the distribution of the book. "..Zum Bleiben ich, zum Scheiden du, erkoren, Giingsit du voran - und hast nicht viel verloren.." Matter -- "Pinkly Lips" -- CD-R -- €9
2007 Observatoire, Observatoire 14, (ltd. 50)
Matter is a project of Russian musician Denis Shapovalov (Adriva, Sunchariot), in which he explores the possibilities of computer technologies. However he does it in the same way as in his main projects. The result is rather strange meeting of digital sound and raw primordial approach: monotonous noises, crackles, loops and complete obscurantism. An engaging release.
McKaras -- "Right To Stay Bestial!" -- CD -- €10
2008 Autarkeia, acd 032
The tracks of the album Right to Stay Bestial! have been recorded at least thirteen years ago. It travelled through the hands of lovers of dark electronics, among the Lithuanian underground people, in the form of a re-recorded CRD. Everyone admired depressing atmosphere, spite and sterile aggression of this disc. Today, the album author McKaras (McWAR) newly interpreted the old tracks, complemented them with a number of various samples and produced a new master. The results is an esp. fine, newly sounding album, the style of which can hardly be defined. Some may think it is hard techno, yet dancing is hardly possible to this rhythmic music. Gloomy atmosphere, aggressive rhythms, psychedelic loops will push the audience into heavy criminal and politically incorrect mood. The album is ideally suited for listening in the car driven towards criminal purposes. However, bear in mind the punishment, will you? Mckaras is to techno as Darkthrone is to black metal perhaps. Meelkop, Roel -- "5 (Zwischenfälle)" -- CD -- €13
2007 Auf Abwegen, AATP18, (ltd. 500)
5(zwischenfaelle) is the latest release by dutch electronic musician ROEL MELLKOP (also member of Kapotte Muziek, THU20 and GOEM). It is a special release in Meelkop’s catalogue because it is consist of five piece that were originally used in the context of sound installations running over a certain period of time in specific special surroundings. For 5 (zwischenfaelle) Meelkop has set himself the task to compress these soundscapes into five dense and still minimal audio pieces that could work outside the context of the original installations. 5 (zwischenfaelle) is focussed on single sound events and stark beautiful dynamic movements in a certain area of sound and does not have the bruitistic research-like feel of other solo works by Meelkop. 5 (zwischenfaelle) makes for concentrated unpolished ultra minimal listening with maximum effect. For all friends of Bernhard Gunter, Francisco Lopez, Joe Colley/Crawl Unit or Marc Behrens this is a definite work! [press-release]

The Missing Ensemble -- "Hidden Doors" -- CD -- €10
2006 Mondes Elliptiques, .E.Q.05.01., (ltd. 500)
Three sonic trajectories which tie and untie. Three creative entities to orchestrate the whole. John Sellekaers (Xingu Hill, Dead Hollywood Stars), Daniel De Los Santos (Tamarin) and Mathias Delplanque (Lena, Bidlo) open us the door to a universe whose maze conceals a multitude of other doors. Some are half-open, others are closed and many are, at first sight, invisible. As we explore further, we must let those secret doors some time to take shape, to reveal themselvesЕ and it will then be possible to fix our attention on various aspects of the sound labyrinth that is presented to us, to come and go while letting ourselves be carried by the waves and the modulations, which then become our exploratory vehicle and form one body with us in the journeyЕ Indeed, many doors are hidden, but they are awaiting to be discovered, probedЕ Behind them, fullness or emptinessЕ Here, John Sellekaers, Daniel De Los Santos and Mathias Delplanque have concocted a sound fabric which explores the tangents uniting or dissociating Сlowercase soundТ, drone and dark ambient. Where does each of those styles start, where does it end? No one could tell... Nevertheless, HIDDEN DOORS brings its share of answersЕ in a very personal way: lots of textures, palpable ambiences, subtle drifts. The whole is produced in an elegant and stylish fashion. Monstrare / Wilt -- "Graveflowers" -- CD -- €10
2004 .Angle.Rec., .A.R.05.02., (ltd. 500)
For the last few years, the enthusiasts have been enjoying the evolutionary sound creations of CORDELL KLIER (MONSTRARE) and JAMES KEELER (WILT). The first, very often, in his solo adventures, works in a register which one could hail as "dark glitch", or a close encounter of the third kind between modern technology and the abyss, as the second builds us somber sonic monoliths, raw blocks of black bruitist matter and dark lo-fi atmosphericsЕ It was no doubt that the collision, or fusion, between these two aesthetics tinged with psychotropism was going to give way to a genuine journey, a unique and peculiar epic, in the image of the respective projects of the two creators. There is a natural fit between these projects as both focus on dark mathematical projections. In this monumental production, MONSTRARE feeds us with new-school sonorities as WILT opts for old-school sounds, an it goes without saying that one used the source sound material of the other to crystallize his own visions, and vice versa. Side by side, the intemporal, uncompromising and often arrhythmic sonic fluids secreted here sometimes have a textured minimalistic feel, sometimes reflect a will of nuanced saturationЕ Here one will easily recognize the traditional ambient and subtle black noise WILT feel, just pushed to the utmost level, with MONSTRARE doing the dark-clicked drone he is renowned for, but in an especially demented way. Alternately, the listener finds himself wandering through the uneven meanders of subterranean cathedrals and flying over futurist cities radiant with an aura of strangely coloured neons. But there are a thousand and one other possible interpretations. Organic yet bleak, the music presented here symbolizes the passing of life into subharmonic spirituality. Now is your turn to make yourself your own interior movie while listening to this album! [press-release]
Naevus -- "Truffles of Love" -- CD -- €13
1999/2008 Old Europa Cafe, OECD 105
Inspired by seminal punk and new wave innovators (The Stooges, The Buzzcocks, Public Image Limited, The Birthday Party, Joy Division, Magazine, The Slits) Naevus was formed in London in 1998 by Lloyd James and Joanne Owen. Naevus’ playful self-released debut, "Truffles of Love" came out in 1999. Unavailable for several years, and much sought after by collectors, Naevus’ debut album is now reissued by Old Europa Cafe in newly re-mastered form, with significant sonic improvement on the original 1999 release. This re-issue also includes six bonus tracks dating from the same period. These tracks were previously only available on obscure compilations which were released in very limited quantities and are long-since deleted. The inclusion of this bonus material brings the running time of the CD to over 74 minutes and gives a complete picture of the early development of Naevus. The original artwork has been extensively overhauled and this edition is presented in digipak format and includes a 16 page booklet with lyrics to all tracks plus an essay on the band’s beginnings. Netherworld -- "Kall - The Abyss Where Dreams Fall" -- CD -- €10
2007 Mondes Elliptiques, .E.Q.05.03, (ltd. 441)
Always concerned with pushing even further its explorations on the side of "drone" drifts, angleREC adds to its parallel series, that is the MONDES ELLIPTIQUES label, a new release in the form of the first official CD production of Italian project NETHERWORLD. This CD has the rather evocative title of ''KALL - The Abyss Where Dreams Fall''. Alessandro Tedeschi's project previously gained a fair share of attention with CDR or mini-CDR releases on fine labels such as UMBRA, GEARS OF SAND, TAALEM/KOKESHIDISK! Alessandro also runs the GLACIAL MOVEMENTS label, which gave us, in 2006, the acclaimed CRYOSPHERE compilation. In a tradition that is anchored, at the same time, in avant-garde, ritual soundz and dark-ambient, with a typically Italian touch, NETHERWORLD gives a peculiarly and elegantly organic and palpable feel to sounds that, in the hands of others, would maybe fall flat ...and it is as if the sound universe conjured by the magic of NETHERWORLD was strangely how could one say? OCCUPIED. Each moment, each twist and turn of this sound adventure bears infinite richness and elasticity, at all times ...those are rather "busy" sound layers but each of the elements has sufficient breathing space and can differentiate itself from the other surrounding components. This antagonism represents one of NETHERWORLD's greatest strengths. Another noteworthy antagonism: this tendency to propose us ambiences that are excessively introspective, subdued, withdrawn into themselves, but which, at the same time, expand, subtly dilate to occupy an incommensurable space. Upon the first notes (or pulses??) of the opening track, "KALL", this infinite abyss, envelops us and our dreams sink, dissolve, reinvent themselves... The sound propositions found on "KALL" have enough movement and density to please the ones fond of depth in their music, but the overall 'purified' feel will please the most discerning purist. For the occasion, MONDES ELLIPTIQUES once again used the mastering talents of JOHN SELLEKAERS @ METARC and it is CHRISTIAN SALETTE who put his savoir-faire in our service for the design of the sleeve and images. Limited to 441 copies! Deluxe cardboard sleeve. [press-release]
Nos Royaumes -- "L'Antichambre" -- 7" -- €8
2004 .Angle.Rec., .A.R.07.01., (ltd. 222)
Before running aground onto the shores of a minimal, somber, muffled and textured electro with strains that are nevertheless poetically devastating, the creator behind the Montreal project Nos Royaumes flirted with the uneven terrains of rhythmic noise, pure noise, hard ebm and a zillion other sonic outlets, under various names. It is, however, with the founding of its current project that he proudly delivers us his first official release, which is the result of months, even years, of experimentation, discovery and refining. The enriched synthesis made by Nos Royaumes with his first 2-track 7 inch single, «L’antichambre», brings us to a crossing of the different roads the creator followed in his many experimentations and sonic discoveries in recent years, to a place where the demarcation line between old-school industrial, dark ambient, narrative paths not spelt out and recursive bruitism takes on blurred and original shades. Nos Royaumes demonstrates, with the two monumental tracks of his first release, that oppressing ambiences can easily go together with enveloping atmospheres. [press-release]
Objekt4 vs. Kenji Siratori -- "Mind Corpse" -- 3"CD-R -- €7
2007 Mask of the Slave Records, MS-013, (ltd. 100)
A great collaboration 3" between the Stockholm based Objekt4 & the Japanese cyberpunk writer Kenji Siratori. Objekt4 returned to Mask of the Slave Records with this great stuff, after several releases with other labels in the industrial/experimental scene. Kenji Siratori: a Japanese cyberpunk writer who is currently bombarding the internet with wave upon wave of highly experimental, uncompromising, progressive, intense prose. His is a writing style that not only breaks with tradition, it severs all cords, and can only really be compared to the kind of experimental writing techniques employed by the Surrealists, William Burroughs and Antonin Artaud. Embracing the image mayhem of the digital age, his relentless prose is nonsensical and extreme, avant-garde and confused, with precedence given to twisted imagery, pace and experimentation over linear narrative and character development. With unparalleled stylistic terrorism, he unleashes his literary attack. An unprovoked assault on the senses. Blood Electric (Creation Books) was acclaimed by David Bowie. [press-release]
oro!oro! -- "Ilgesio Rubikonai" -- CD -- €10
2007 Autarkeia, acd 016, (ltd. 500)
oro!oro! - what is it? Is it the whoop of wonder full of charm and childishness beholding the transparent golden autumnal miracles? Or, are these the agony grips burning the throat and opening the last moment brimming with unbearable longing? This psychedelic code of multiple meanings has something eternal and deeply overt. Laurynas Jukonis, the master of the Lithuanian post-industrial, opens a new sonic structure and aesthetics that transcend the framework of GIRNU GIESMES project. The new project oro!oro! and its first album ilgesio rubikonai (Rubicons of Nostalgia) are undoubtedly among the most advanced musical works of the Lithuanian author revealing the accuracy and the subtlety of painting of complex and deep human emotions with the help of electronic sound. Particularly lucid and melancholic music of the album ilgesio rubikonai (Rubicons of Nostalgia), which may be classified as extremely refined ambient, transfers the audience into the masterfully highlighted and poetic visions experienced by personalities searching for the meaning of existence when the autumn in closing in. The autumn is the transformation of the nature bringing in the processes of ageing, decline and, at the same time, maturity into the whole of existence. The album promises a lonely but adventurous journey into the sorrowful landscapes of nature, cities and soul. The electronic sound helps the author to materialize the sense of nostalgia and create an immortal hymn for the period of golden autumn and the personality contemplating it. The oro!oro! album ilgesio rubikonai (Rubicons of Nostalgia) is among the most beautiful and deep ambient pieces reflecting the extremely complex ratio of human emotions and the existence. This new sound of ambient can surely be titled philosophical ambient. [press-release]

oro!oro! -- "Prarastos Ziemos" -- CD -- €10
2007 Autarkeia, acd 019, (ltd. 500)
The pioneer of Lithuanian post industrial and the composer of Girnu Giesmes continues his experiments with sonic impact on human mood. After recording one of the most solid ambient albums "ilgesio rubikonai" (rubicons of nostalgia), dedicated to the complex relation of the seeking personality and autumn, Laurynas embarked on the investigation of winter phenomenon. It resulted in the new oro!oro! album prarastos "ziemos providing" the audience with a translucent, modest and refined ambient masterpiece conveying very precisely the deepest aspects of winter: limitless cleanliness, transparency, serenity and the recreation of existence. "prarastos ziemos" album embodies the natural ending of the nature’s cycle, its esoteric aura, while the motifs of looping music generate remarkably fresh and spacious feel that mesmerises, soothes and makes one dream. The music of the album is also special in that no electronic means were used for its recording. Ambient sounds are produced by harmonica, guitar and archaic zither, which lifts the sound quality of oro!oro! into the entirely new aesthetic level. [press-release]

Realgar -- "Auriloquio" -- CD -- €10
Autarkeia, ACD 041
Autarkeia label has been long seeking to release such album. Mainly investigating the world of aggression, fear and nightmares, the label has always been searching for a certain balance to avoid one-sidedness, withdrawal and repetition. And, finally, this is the first album absolutely falling out of the earlier specialisation of Autarkeia, yet equally attractive. Well-known Italian musicians Roberto and Claudia, previously partaking in the activities of Kirlian Kamera, Ataraxia, Lupercalia and Argine, have recorded a number of remarkable tracks, the atmosphere of which is probably best described by words very lucid, yearning and constructed in esp. high quality. In terms of style, this is rhythmic electronics enticing the audience with its variety of ethnic instruments and fabulous voice of Claudia. The album promises very convivial journey to the world of alchemy of the Middle Ages. By celebrating the past, it is also nostalgic for the strange world of the times gone and no longer reachable to us. [press-release]

Skinwell -- "Tunnels" -- CD -- €10
2008 .Angle.Rec., .A.R.05.06., (ltd. 333)
Doors cleverly concealed unexplored abandoned industrial sites.the angleREC and Mondes Elliptiques labels had the opportunity to work with many sound artists whose explorations are accompanied by a will to uncover on the field, in the abstract as well as in the concrete, different mysteries or secrets, or at least, to probe the enclave, the place they haunt. The SKINWELL project is no exception; its two protagonists, CHRISTIAN CORVELLEC and MARTIN DUMAIS, concoct music for TUNNELS, those places, where, at the end, one is beginnning to see the light, as the old proverb says, but in the present case, we do not really care; we can see the light in the distance, it also penetrates different interstices or fissures along the walls of the tunnels where we progress, but we prefer taking the time to pace the premises, to permeate ourselves with the sound echoes with which they fill our ears and head, and it should be mentioned that the ambiant-drone styling embraced by SKINWELL contains, like the music of some well-know artists of the genre (here we shall name CRANIOCLAST, TROUM or ZOVIET FRANCE with the unique goal of giving people a better idea as to where they are on the map of sonorities), a whole assortment of subtle electronic pulsations, concocted here by CHRISTIAN CORVELLEC, which always adequately support the sound fabrics woven by MARTIN DUMAIS, and which also are their starting point. One only has to imagine a minimal tech project gone the drone-ocean way Еpulsations are there, always, but tinged with a sonic fog that is heavy, damp and fluid at the same time and which always suggests, in the end, uncertain twists and turns in this crossing of tunnels. But who would complain? [press-release]

Stahlwerk 9 -- "Revolution of the Antichrist" -- CD -- €12
2007 Steinklang Industries, SK 43, (ltd. 666)
Stahlwerk 9's new Dark/Death Ambient album R.O.T.A. is more quiet and ritual than his recent works. R.O.T.A. can be compared to his earlier albums "Oradour" and "1905", but a lot more sacral. Deep, sumbliminal drummings, heavy organs and bells and ominously dronning soundscapes guide you to your private Aramgeddon. A blackest soundtrack for the end of the world... The artwork consists of a folder in 7"-size, holding 10 large inlays on heavy cardbord. All paintings on the folder and the inlays were drawn by the Russian painter Alexander Nemkovsky (http://nemkovsky.info), who already worked with Peter Anderson (Raison d'Etre). "With the approach of the Antichrist's authority comes the moment for mankind, of conscious man-godkind and satan-godkind, which have the task to abolish the authority of God and to give the maximum global power to man and devil." Stanislavsky, K. -- "End Of All Things" -- CD -- €10
2010 Zoharum, ZOHAR IYHHH 001, (ltd. 444)
Debut material of polish composer Krzysztof Stanislawski - the artist who says that he’s inspired by movie music. There’s no doubt that in his works we can hear the echo of: Clouser, Zimmer or Goldenthal. All orchestral sounds are mixed with industrial bits and grates which gives new quality. „End of All Things” could be it the same line with soundtracks of „Pi”, „Saw” or „Event Horizon” and there’s no exaggeration in it. Imagination of this musician and his own insight in illustrative music leads listener to new, different dimension of thriller. In his works you will find no exaggerated pathos and boredom. This album is full of emotions, passion, action, tempo changes, surprising atmosphere changes. We recommend this material to those who like classical soundtracks but also to everyone who like industrial music. [label info]

Sunchariot -- "Ritual Head / Right Sun" -- CD-R -- €9
2005 Observatory Records 001
Sunchariot was formed in Russian city of Rostov-on-Don from the black metal band with the same name. Now it plays raw and harsh industrial/ambient in vein of Misery or early Lunar Abyss Quartet. This CDR contains the recording of the live show made using voice, computer and trephined human skull with sensors.
Sunchariot -- "Ruina Atrasiab" -- CD-R -- €10
2007 Observatory Records, Observatory 07, (ltd. 10)
A short 25-min work divided on 2 tracks. All project's trademark features are here: slow stalk of rhythm exuding through the wall of obscure rough sound and unexpected melancholic guitar tune.
Survival Unit -- "Fentanyl Martyrs" -- 2 CD -- €20
2007 Autarkeia, acd 020
Survival Unit Fentanyl Martyrs 2-golden-CD box is the latest cultural terror attack coming from cultic non-compromising Swedish postmortem/power electronics project. This time an especially dreadful and relevant theme has been chosen for compromising the declared illusions of human civilisation. Both discs have been dedicated to Chechnya undergoing the total genocide, the total war where neither honour nor rules are acknowledged, except perhaps those of Marquis de Sade, who - bearing in mind the facts of this war - would have never imagined how far the fantasy of brutal people can advance in order to dominate, torture and control those resembling themselves [...] This time the album of the conceptual project Survival Unit - unlike the earlier albums contained in intentionally cheap, anarchistic DIJ aesthetics and packages - will be a posh release. A special 3-part digipack, 20-page booklet, 2 golden CDs and a special manually-made box will spit into the face of those mocking underground and the truth. Total dirt, horror, bloody audiovisual collages, non-compromising mockery of illusions: the TRUTH will be packed in special luxury. On the one hand, it is a real pity because this is the grand pre-funeral wake of the Survival Unit project. Yet, the legendary project leaving to Valhalla must be specially honoured. So, no wonder that the independent AUTARKEIA, which has previously buried Megaptera giant very solemnly, has been chosen for arranging the funeral. [label info]

Survival Unit -- "Thought-Trigger-Target" -- CD -- €10
2001/2009 Autarkeia, acd 040
Here is one more masterpiece of Swedish cultural terrorism supplemented with new material and re-released in the golden collection of cultural terrorism series. If compared with the most aggressive albums of Kristian Olsson’s gang Survival Unit, this one is perhaps more atmospheric than openly destructive. Yet, like all other Survival Unit’s diversions, it is pervaded by the black social despair, hate towards human civilisation and the lies it spreads about the reality. It also conveys the position of a person developed in the violent world, i.e. violence against violence for violence. Resistance to everything and anything. Life and its meaning in a nihilistic fight against the surrounding fake reality. This album is a gloomy insight into the future that awaits us all and a fine lesson showing us what stands at the end of the Scandinavian idyll. The album is released in a very elegant digipack with an embossed cover. [press-release]

Survival Unit -- "Tied Down For Survival" -- CD -- €10
2003/2009 Autarkeia, acd 038, (ltd. 500)
At the times of global crisis, the zombies of cultural terrorism strike again with the fire of new toxic power. Tied Down For Survival is a old/new blow from the Scandinavian cult project Survival Unit to the rotten cancer of Western civilisation and the second collection of rarities in the golden collection of cultural terrorism series. This is an exceptionally suggestive, psychedelic power electronics with deeply terrorising implications. Here you will listen to unreleased live records, passages from limited edition utan fana and the controversial conspiracy theory of Rolf-Peter Andersson, where Swedish monarch family, Indira Gandhi and Mikhail Gorbachev practice cannibalism. Survival Unit -- "Will To Zero" -- CD -- €10
2002/2009 Autarkeia, acd 039
Will To Zero is the third part in Survival Unit’s golden collection of cultural terrorism series, actually meant for crippling as many people as possible without a hope of recovery. Daresay, that all in this album serves for the attainment of this purpose. The duration of esp. aggressive and deranged tracks exceeds 15 mins. Very straightforward sound, often reminding the invasion of rats, crushes the minds of all calibres. Do you believe your nerves are strong enough to take this? Then read the title once again and then go buy medical insurance. Zero chances to withstand. But those who do, will surely require medicines for the rest of their lives. The release is presented in a fine digipack of three embossed sides. [press-release]

Svaixt -- "Virsme Versme" -- CD -- €10
2007 Autarkeia, acd 022, (ltd. 500)
Words swaixtix, svastika, svaiksti have a common root that in Sanskrit or Indo-European mother-tongue means to shine, to glow, light. Svaixt, coming from Laurynas Jukonis, the master of the Lithuanian post-industrial, is one more project revealing his sincere interest in the roots of the civilisation, the beginning of the archaic, multi-meaningful, solid and conflictless reality. Demo version of Svaixt album Virsme versme was released in 50 copies by the very author in CDR format and sold in a blink. The album for the second edition was complemented by new material placing new stress in its concept. Svaixt music consists of deep, pulsating and very transparent ambient building up mystic, arcane atmosphere. The value of the album lies in the absence of digital sound generating means in the recording. Virsme versme was recorded by playing the single brass percussion inducing meditation and providing the sound with a strong oriental zest. The cover of Svaixt Virsme versme contains the photo of the legendary marsh opening Ulos Akis located in the Lithuanian region Dzukija, whereas the CD is packed in the elegant digipack. [label info]

Tholen -- "Neuropol" -- CD -- €12
2010 Cyclic Law, 28th Cycle, (ltd. 1000)
After his acclaimed first album “Sternklang”, THOLEN now offers us his new album “Neuropol”. Neuropol is the name of a fictional city where bleak scenarios of a post-apocalyptic world are painted. A society divided in two distinct classes populates this contaminated place, a lethargic mass of working slaves on the surface trapped in vast industrial landscapes and the elite underground, who direct their doings while gaining power from rituals for the church of Miro. This is a time of imminent change and possible revolution, since the slaves gathered spiritual power for resistance. This album reveals the darkest corners of these subterranean temples, deadly industrial complexes and hostile slums, where those enslaved are in search of spiritual salvation from mass control and misery. A roadmap of the winding paths of the oppression of flesh and spirit. Come to learn about the beauty of impending decay. Come to Neuropol. The music follows in the foot steps of his previous album with deep, multilayered ambient passages of unworldly proportions. [press-release]

Tuhat Kuolemaa Sekunnissa -- "s/t" -- CD -- €10
2007 Anima Arctica, AUER-002, (ltd. 1000)
Noble & Honest Neo Folk Rooted firmly to the pagan grounds of Finland. These songs are made to rise higher than pines, and the brilliant melodies glitter like silvery lakes under the holy sun. Some of these tracks are surely to be sung along with tears in eyes by lonely listeners, and some out loud by like-minded minds affected by blessed beers and wicked wines. This record is mainly performed two acoustic guitars and bass guitar held by men with fierce fire in minds and souls, with voice - sometimes fragile like icicles, sometimes hard like the wind from the arctic ocean, but always in the language of their ancestors - and with occasional elements of other traditional instruments. Humble and traditional approach to composing leads to traditional, yet innovative song writing... a reverend nod is given to the direction classics of British isle's neo folk genre, which shake hands with archaic songs sung by Finnish tribes next to fireplaces in nightless night, in lightless winter of this cold, cold country. Wintersilence -- "Transmission Fields" -- 2 CD -- €14
2004 Weird Amplexus, WAX10
An impossible melting between rock and ambient with influences from many other musical styles and from Indian, Arabian and North-African culture. A surprising and ambitious trip from ambient to cosmic paths. This work has various influences, but all titles have something in common, they all seem to run after to an evocative attitude: all compositions could be referred to particular images and landscapes, and stimulate the listener's imagination to penetrate obscure dreams, at the edge between fear and tranquillity, where the soul feels unable to understand the substance of reality, and sometimes is got by a spiral of nightmares' fragments, over any rational rule.
