2010 Le Crepuscule Du Soir, LCDS033, (ltd. 50)

Aun -- "Black Pyramid" -- CD -- €12
2010 Cyclic Law, 29th Cycle, (ltd. 1000)
Continuing on the foundations laid with the acclaimed 2009 album Motorsleep, AUN are further blurring the line where earth and space intersect with the ominous floating monolith "Black Pyramid". Casting a new shadow, the seven tracks that make up Black Pyramid are loosely inspired by the worlds created by visionary french artist Enki Bilal. While still dealing in dark matter, the twisted guitar and electronics mutations find the duo at their most melodic, luminous and accessible yet, but in the world of AUN there is always a very fine line between light and darkness. AUN's singular psychedelic ambient drones laid on Black Pyramid definitely marks this release as some of their best work yet, and this says a lot about the sheer power of this new album given their prolific and highly praised discography. Baker, Aidan -- "Lost in the Rat Maze" -- CD -- €11
2011 ConSouling Sounds, SOUL0011, (ltd. 800)
Aidan Baker needs no introduction: this prolific Canadian classically trained multi-instrumentalist has generously contributed to the doom/drone/ambient genre. Nadja, Arc and Whisper Room are just a few of his manifestations. As a solo artist he also composed quite an impressive backcatalogue. Consouling Sounds is proud to add another release to that list, as we're quite confident this one will stand out in this discography. With Lost in the Rat Maze Aidan Baker produces an unconventional album - even to Baker-standards. Having been known for his extensive ambient soundscapes, Baker chose a different approach to his sound weaving - albeit true to the "Bakersound". In stead of a densely layered and broad sound palette, Baker has almost embraced a "postrockish" method of composing. More compact, pointed and clear progressions can be discovered, together with a diverse array of instruments, sounds and techniques. Expect the classic Aidan Baker elements: captivating, fascinating and repetitive mesmerizing sounds - but with a different twist to it. [press-release]
Band Of Pain -- "Sacred Flesh (Original Movie Soundtrack)" -- CD -- €10
2000/2010 Cold Spring, CSR33CD, (ltd. 666)
On Friday 14th April 2000, the film SACRED FLESH finally premiered at the ABC Piccadilly cinema for a two week stint, before being shown at cinemas across the country. It was delayed for a while as the BBFC decided on whether to grant a certificate for screening, or to ban it altogether! Finally, with a few edits they gave it an 18 certificate. The soundtrack was written by BAND OF PAIN, creating a very dark, brooding atmosphere to compliment Nigel Wingroves' film. Originally with a 16-page booklet depicting explicit scenes from the film (generallt cute lesbian conventuals - M.M.), pressure from the distributors forced the artwork into a revised 4-page version. SACRED FLESH is dark journey into realms of mental anguish and repression; a very Black Ambient soundtrack. At last, BAND OF PAIN is working in the medium to which its most suited. An incredible new album with massive demand from both film and music distributors alike. 10 year anniversary edition of 666 copies! [label info]

Bianchi, Maurizio / Appelbaum, Maor -- "Innervation" -- CD-R -- €9
2008 Afe Records, afe105lcd, (ltd. 300)
Industrial / Noise. Maurizio Bianchi is probably the most well-known and respected italian experimental composer; at the end of the 70s, at the peak of the Industrial scene, he released several tapes of noise music under the Sacher-Pelz and M.B. Symphony for a Genocide was his first vinyl record, soon followed by other cult albums such as Menses, Neuro Habitat, Regel, Mectpyo Bakterium, Das Testament, Endometrio, Carcinosi and The Plain Truth. In 1984, "Armaghedon" was announced as his last record. In 1998-2000 the whole M.B. vinyl catalogue was officially re-released on CD by Ees't Records. At the same time, after a 14 years of meditative pause, Maurizio Bianchi returned to create music. Plenty of solo albums and collaborations were released since then, showcasing Bianchi's different approaches at experimental music. Maor Appelbaum has been part of the Israel music scene for many years. He is involved in many experimental projects such as Sleepless, Vultures, I.W.R and Thy Mesmerized, as well as being the sole creator of Vectorscope, Lunisolar and Screening. His musical ventures expand to more metallic bands such as the doom infested Moonskin. He has done various musical collaborations with Maurizio Bianchi, Kenji Siratori, Clint Listing, The Hollowing and Tom Davidov. Coming after "Environmental Meditations" (Topheth Prophet, 2006) and "Electrostatic Deflection" (Silentes, 2007), "Innervation" is Maurizio Bianchi & Maor Appelbaum's third collaborative effort. The six tracks on the album have a strong impact, treating us with stabs of intense noise generated by analog synthesizers and effects... [label info]

Circus Joy -- "Laetitia" -- CD -- €12
2009 Old Europa Cafe, OECD 124 / Misty Circles, MCR72
Italian cult band in which play 2 former members of AIN SOPH as well as other well known musicians of the Roman underground. At the time of the last release by Circus Joy “Improvvisa Azione Paganini", noise was turned into pleasure and sex; in their new work, "Laetitia", there is no pleasure in noise without sorrow, and sorrow takes over... This CD is not only a sonic tribute to Pop-Art, as its cover clearly shows, or to the noise-psychedelic rock of Velvet Underground (one of the most influential bands for Circus Joy): it's a tribute to the recent and tragic departure of their friend and poet/singer, Letizia. "Laetitia" displays the two faces of Circus Joy: sensual, sick love ballads on one side and the crazy, electric, rides on the other. The record has been recorded between 2008 and 2009 at "Spectrelab" and "Trafalgar Studio Roma", except for the last track "An Eccentric Garden" which has been realised putting together the single parts each of members did on their own, at their own place, then sending them via the internet to the others... Circus Joy is a group of non-musicians, long time friends who come together to produce noise by experimenting and improvising with their instruments. Formed in 1984 by Corrado Mancini, the line-up tends to change from release to release, for this album the line-up was completed by Spectre, Mario F.O.B., ClauDEDI and Steve StrolI. A crazy post-industrial release. [press-release]

Cisfinitum -- "Nevmenosis" -- CD-R -- €9
2008 Afe Records, afe110lcd, (ltd. 150)
Dark Ambient / Experimental. Cisfinitum is a prominent post-industrial project from Moscow, Russia. It was started in the late 90s by composer and musician Eugene Voronovsky, and since then has drawn significant attention as one of the most uncommon and distinctive acts of the national experimental scene. Cisfinitum has a very specific emotional style lying within the boundaries of drone ambient and noise. Eugene Voronovsky has graduated from the Moscow State Conservatory as a professional violinist. In his music he uses classical instruments such as violin, piano and percussions, along with sounds traditionally considered "non-musical". All sources are subjected to processing, both Soviet analog tools and modern digital technologies are used. "Cisfinitum is the sound of eternity. I've always wanted to create the music of Russian cosmos, music capable of expressing information about Russia that is impossible to reveal by means of words. They call this 'drone' overseas, but I prefer to define it 'metaphysical ambient'", claims Eugene. "Nevmenosis" is a collection of tracks composed by Eugene Voronovsky between 2001 and 2007 which were remastered by Andrea Marutti of Afe Records on purpose of this release. Some of them ("Dissolutio", "Moscow 30", "Galene" and "Oskolok") already appeared on compilations published by Ewers Tonkunst, Monochrome Vision and EE Tapes. Artwork for the album is based on pictures taken by Russian photographer/artist Vespa_crabro and is a fine addition to the music... [label info]

There is no atonement here, nor redemption offered. Just cold, jarring currents of massively built power electronics and horror filled death industrial, full of clamoring factory debris, razor sharp sheets of sonic violence, and grisly metallic grind, rounded out with Garrison's trademark vocal devastation. False Mirror -- "Derelict World" -- CD -- €12
2010 Malignant Records, TumorCD47
"In the beginning it looked like an ordinary storm..." After three years of intense work, Dark Ambient disciple False Mirror returns with his third full-length journey, aptly entitled "Derelict World". With the timeless drones of his debut "Chronostatic Scenes" and the icy soundscapes on his highly acclaimed sophomore masterpiece "North" still resonating through space, solo artist Tobias Hornberger delivers "Derelict World", his most massive and epic undertaking so far. As its two brooding predecessors, also his third work of masterfully crafted Ambient has become a monumental alliance of dark drones, frostbitten soundscapes and warm vibrating tones from the deep bowels of the earth. Famous for his skilled use of field recordings from an extremely diversified range (some of the recordings stem from an old monastery, the medieval city of Ulm or the Arabian sea) and for his ability to cloak the superior forces of nature into menacing, yet beautifully devised sounds, "Derelict World" also offers a truly apocalyptic concept that blends perfectly with the dense wall of sound on this mysterious Ambient challenge: Nothing less than the end of humanity, brought upon this world by the relentless forces of nature forms the basis on which the resonating and thundering tracks develop into chimaeras of terrible momentum, ever-changing and ever-increasing their dramatic potential. Devised with sophisticated software he solely created for composing this album, False Mirror easily evokes elemental feelings like sublimity, fear or trepidation - culminating in an impending sense of doom that never leaves the listener and brings to life the destructive side of nature that surrounds us every day. From the sheer force of a tornado set loose to the beguiling calm within the eye of the storm, "Derelict World" is a 74 minute long sonic journey into a desolated, depopulated world. A 20 page booklet with a conceptually linked short story written by author and journalist Bjorn Springorum accompanies the release. The album is moreover equipped with a number of hidden messages that lead to a rewarding "Bonus World" on falsemirror.de. "...and the rest was silence." "...One of the best dark ambient releases in recent years". 9.5/10 Orkus Magazine. "The False Mirror album is one of the best CDs I've ever listened to!" M. Sturtzer, Phelios. [press-release]

First Human Ferro -- "Homo Shargey" -- CD -- €10
2011 New Nihilism, NN VII / Requiem Records, RP 33/2011 / Triangle, TR 046, (ltd. 500)
Alexander Shargey (also known as Yuriy Kondratyuk) is a representative of passionate enthusiastic inventors who put their lives at stake to accomplish the mission for the future good of the whole mankind. Shargey belongs to a cohort of scientists who were the first to foresee the space conquering. They were great yet mocked-at dreamers and had to fight against all odds twice as hard. Shargey is a "recognized" space theoretic of unique unconventional genius. The name of a self-made engineer since decades has become well up to par with famous scientists like Tsiolkovskiy, Tsander, Korolyov... Ukrainian First Human Ferro project led by Olegh Kolyada pays a long overdue tribute to its compatriot composing a well-crafted vintage dark ambient album with both poignant and mesmerizing layers of sidereal voyage... Homo Shargey was pre-mastered by Italian ambient magician Vestigial. The packaging consists of a luxurious A5-sized digipak with silver finish and gloss varmish, conceptually designed by Marcin Lojek at Ibsen Design. [press-release]

Folkstorm -- "The Culturecide Campaigns (Archive Series 5)" -- CD -- €13
2010 Old Europa Cafe, OECD 137
The series of the «Folkstorm» monster continues! The Culturecide Campaigns was released in 2000, only available for one month through MP3.com, during which time only 39 copies were sold. These more than ten years old recordings has now finally been restored, redesigned and remastered and features two bonus tracks. This album was recorded back to back with "Victory or death" and carries the same menacing feeling, but with a bit more structure and empahsis on pounding rythmic industrial noise. The Culturecide Campaigns was Folkstorms first attempt at infiltrating mainstream culture and also infiltrating the new and upcoming filesharing culture. Besides releasing this album only online it was also spread in secret over the Napster filesharing website. Mainstream "top ten album" downloads were manipulated and tracks were exchanged. That means that possibly thousands of people that were expecting to listen to Madonna or U2 ended up listening to this. So maybe this oscure gem actually has been more played than all of the Folkstorm albums, albeit in secrecy to an unaware audience?
If you want rough old-school industrial this is what you need! The campaign continues... [press-release]

Genetic Transmission -- "Spiral" -- CD-R -- €9
2008 Afe Records, afe113lcd, (ltd. 100)
Experimental / Industrial / Noise. Tomasz Twardawa is a living legend of the underground industrial scene in Poland. Since the mid eighties, he has taken part in pioneer projects as TKT, Godzilla and a few more, introducing noise and power industrial aesthetics into the numb, self-proclaimed 'avantgarde' crowd, stimulating its development with his uncompromised, radical approach. His main brain-child, Genetic Transmission, with numerous great releases under belt, proves that his flame still burns. After many albums on his own label Die Schöne Blumen Musik Werk, and more recently on Tochnit Aleph, Beast of Prey and War Office Propaganda, "Spiral" is his first release on Afe. Consisting of one long track - about 43 minutes - "Spiral" begins smoothly with a field-recording of wind blowing through a desert alley, but soon turns into a powerful industrial collage. Genetic Transmission has the ability to deform everyday sounds and submit them to his own laws, converting usual noises into a proper surrealistic and bruitiste language all of his own. Most of the sounds used in this composition are culled from recordings of different instruments, original acoustic installations - like sets of stone-sculptures, glass scoriae and metal agglomerates - and field recordings. Tomasz's equipment includes a wide spectrum of contact and dynamic microphones, old telephone headphones, vintage soviet devices and modern computer technology. "Spiral" is varied, claustrophobic and sharp. Nerve-wracking at times, with noises crawling up and down the invisible thread that unites them, the album has an oppressive and dense feeling from the beginning to the end... [label info]

Government Alpha -- "Impregnable Storm" -- CD-R -- €7
2009 New Nihilism, NN VI, (ltd. 250)
It's impossible to get a clue about Japanese noise phenomenon without mentioning Yasutoshi Yoshida, the man responsible for numerous extreme music gems such as Government Alpha, S.Isabela, Detroit Core etc. and surely the kingpin of the renowned Xerxes label... Govt. Alpha's mission started in 1992 as a natural conclusion to Yoshida's urge for expression through the art, deliberately in it's terminal form. While incorporating all that awesome elements of Japanese noise sound, Government Alpha suddenly developed its own trademark sound—abstract yet seductive framework of multilayered feedback, mangled distortion roars, wild editing and manic signal processing that takes an assault on your ears with no holds barred... Tokio's wildest, Government Alpha proves it again on Impregnable Storm, an album scheduled for NN so long ago... And worth to wait for, hands down! This is extremely brutal, loud and harsh. This is the passion. This is sexy. This is Government Alpha... Once again the packaging consists of an A2-sized, offset printed poster folded to form A5 sleeve housed in crystal celar plastic wrapper. Limited to 250 hand numbered copies, get yours just now. Gydja -- "Helchemy" -- CD-R -- €9
2008 Afe Records, afe116lcd, (ltd. 100)
Dark Ambient / Experimental. Abby Helasdottir has been creating music since 1995 under the name Gydja (an Old Norse word for "priestess"). Initially, the aim of the project was to create music that could be used for magickal and shamanic purposes. The current style of Gydja differs from the initial intentions of the project, with music of both a mundane and magickal nature being created. Among her releases we remember "Liber Babalon" (2001), "Cold Seed" (2002), "Rivers…" (2002), "Corpus Callosum" (Kolorform Records, 2004 - a collaboration between Gydja and Aidan Baker), "Ma-mo Rbad Gtong" (Chmafu Records, 2005 - a collaboration with Austrian musician Marufura Fufunjiru), "Umbilicus Maris" (Mystery Sea, 2007) and "Machina Mundi" (Gears of Sand, 2008). Consisting of two long tracks and clocking at about fifty minutes, "Helchemy" is Gydja's latest full-lenght work at the time of writing, and we're happiest to release it as part of the Afe catalogue. The album title is a portmanteau combining the name of Hela, Germanic goddess of the dead, and the art of alchemy. As such, it considers the way in which imagery associated with alchemy can be related to Hela, particularly the motif of a venomous black toad that is found in many alchemical tracts. Beginning with synthesized soft atmospheres, the opening "The Spirit of the Earth With Venom Intoxicate" gains an aquatic feeling in its first movement. Pads are paired with ring-modulated effects and then the music evolves into a more mysterious cauldron filled with ritual percussions and bells. A gentle melody - resembling a plucked guitar or another string instrument - emerges for a while in the middle section before disappearing in synth bubbles. A flute theme is briefly introduced and then reappears later as the track is constantly transformed until reaching its final stage... [label info]

Hudak, John -- "Miss Dove, Mr. Dove" -- CD-R -- €9
2008 Afe Records, afe102lcd, (ltd. 100)
Experimental / Avantgarde. John Hudak has been interested in sound and music from the age of four when he began to play a variety of instruments. At the University of Delaware (BA, English 1981) and Naropa Institute for the Arts (1979), he studied video, photography, creative writing and dance. He then began to create taped soundtracks for his solo performance-art/dance pieces that later developed into sound-only pieces. In recent years, he has concentrated solely on sound, particularly natural sounds. His work has been published by labels such as Alluvial Recordings, and/OAR, Korm Plastics, Aesova, Intransitive Recordings, Digital Narcis, Presto!? and many others. "Miss Dove, Mr. Dove" was especially created by John Hudak for a release on Afe. Here's a description of the album inception in his own words: "During the late spring of 2007, my family spent some time visiting relatives in the Czech Republic, in a small village outside of Prague called Pelhrimov. One morning there, I woke to the sound of many doves. The building we stayed in was directly across from another similar building, and the space between the two created a wide echo. The birds sat on the adjacent building, making their plaintive sounds, at the crack of dawn; their sound mixing with the sounds of people talking as they left for work, and the sounds of trucks idling while making their morning deliveries..." K11 -- "The Sacred Wood" -- CD -- €13
2010 Old Europa Cafe, OECD 141
K11 (aka Pietro Riparbelli) is a very good sound-sculptor continuing the long tradition of Italian Ambient Industrial artists... This special album was recorded at the enchanting park of Monsters of Bomarzo. The park of Monsters of Bomarzo was devised by the architect Pirro Ligorio (he completed the Cathedral of Saint Peter in Rome after the death of Michelangelo and built Villa d'Este in Tivoli) on commission of Prince Pier Francesco Orsini, called Vicino, only to vent the heart broken at the death of is wife Giulia Farnese. The park was born in 1552 as "Villa of Wonders" to be the only one of it's kind in the world. Incredible but true, the Park of Monsters remained in complete oblivion till 1954 and only few people was aware about all the fantastic treasures contained within the park for over 400 years! K11 was recording the soul of this park of Monsters and Wonders and after re-working the sounds he delivers us a trip between reality and dream. Psychadelic, ritual ambient music from an other space, from an other era, from an other land... [press-release]

K11 -- "Waiting For the Darkness" -- CD-R -- €9
2010 Afe Records, afe126lcd, (ltd. 100)
Experimental / Industrial / Noise. "K11 is a project that deals with the world of radio signals, the trans-communication and other invisible phenomena, to create a dimension where the only sound sources are signals from shortwave radio receivers. In this project I use only sounds coming from the atmosphere and from invisible places." Many music works created by Pietro Riparbelli were released by Radical Matters in Italy during the recent years. His "Voices From Thelema" was published by Aurora Borealis in the United Kingdom during early 2009. "Waiting For the Darkness" is K11's first release on Afe, here's a short introduction to the album written by the author: "Waiting For the Darkness" is the documentation of an action of instrumental transcommunication performed in a forest in 2007. It consists of a video, recorded during the last hours of the day and of five audio tracks composed with short wave radio signals recorded during the action itself. This work wishes to investigate the dimension of fear and continues the research of Pietro Riparbelli about Instrumental Transcommunication started off with the first action performed within the Abbey of Thelema and documented on the "Voices From Thelema" CD. "Waiting For the Darkness" was born as an audio-video installation which has been hosted by "PX Piombino Experimenta 04" international sound art festival in collaboration with Influx..." [label info]

KK Null / John Wiese -- "Mondo Paradoxa" -- CD -- €10
2009 Auf Abwegen, aatp26, (ltd. 500)
Constructed over the period of two years via mail collaboration this is a great and forceful collaboration between two artists that each have made a name for themselves with their unique approach to making sound. KKNULL is a master of feedback studies, working with looped scenarios to create dense and vital sound units. KKNULL has a long history as an experimental musician and is also the leading force behind proto-metal-group Zeni Geva and the dark-industrial project Absolut Null Punkt... John Wiese has recently collaborated with such acts as Wolf Eyes and Sunn O))) and is also a graphic designer in high demand. Usually he creates fragile but very erruptive lo-fi noise rumblings with an almost poetic touch. He has a musical past in the group Bastard Noise... Needless to say, both artists combine the best of both worlds in this crunching release! Comes in beautiful full cover digipak, designed by Government Alpha, typesetting by John Wiese. Lacus Somniorum -- "Tideshaper" -- CD -- €12
2008 Cyclic Law, 22nd Cycle, (ltd. 1000)
Splendid collaborative work between Gustaf Hildebrand and Amanda Votta, Lacus Somniorum emerged as a mutual desire to convey a suggestive concept of what lies hidden and unseen by the eyes of modern civilization--beneath the waves in murky chasms, or perhaps in places not anchored within our concept of reality. Airy flutes and choirs hover above sometimes distant, rumbling sound textures, hinting of corroded machinery and unseen presences but also emphasizing a sense of serenity and peace of mind. The underlying concept is not fear of the unknown, but rather of a hidden beauty within those places where none of us will ever venture. [press-release]

Lopez, Francisco -- "Amarok" -- CD -- €13
2010 Glacial Movements Records, GM007
Francisco Lopez is known all over the world as one of the main figures of all time experimental music. He performed in hundreds lives, projects and sound-sets in 60 countries of 5 continents and his huge discography has been released by more than 200 labels all over the world. His musical universe moves from human-ear limits to the deepest abysses of sonorous power and it is mostly composed of field recordings caught along the wildest areas of Earth or between the sounds of industrial world... For “Amarok” composition two years of hard work have been employed using sounds and processed field recordings. It’s a unequalled conceptual soundscape in this artist’s huge discography and it perfectly joins to Glacial Movements aesthetics. After a few seconds from the track beginning we are dip into an arctic trip which lasts more than an hour and in which tangled weavings in a masterly fashion handled by the Spanish artist appear, develop and dissolve. Gusts of arctic wind, the Amarok’s wheezing breath (Amarok is the name of a gigantic wolf in Inuit mythology) and the sense of loss in the polar night are only some of the sensations that this cryogenic hallucinatory acustic is able to evoke. “Amarok is probably one of the more isolationist and spookiest work I’ve ever done” Francisco Lopez, march 2009. Machinefabriek -- "Vloed" -- CD -- €10
2010 Cold Spring, CSR138CD
'Vloed' is a collection of (slightly edited) live performances, recorded between 2006 and 2008 in Amsterdam and Den Haag. "All performances find Machinefabriek in fine form, offering up thick billows of warm guitar shimmer, fluttery staticky ambience, and at one point some uncharacteristically heavy super distorted metallic guitar, but here, it's not so much metal as simply a mighty drone, thick and throbbing and super intense. There are long stretches of near silence and super minimal high end drone, glimmering slow building crescendos, squalls of distorted choral buzz, warm whirring metallic reverberations, shimmery and dense black dronemusik, all the stuff we love about Machinefabriek" (Aquarius). Beautifully remastered with a 20-minute bonus track, 'Vloed' captures the immersive live experience of a Machinefabriek concert. Presented in a stunning matt digipak with modified artwork. Marutti, Andrea & Fausto Balbo -- "Detrimental Dialogue" -- CD -- €10
2010 Afe Records, afe127cd / Boring Machines, bm023 / Fratto9 Under The Sky Records, fratto012
Experimental / Avantgarde. Andrea Marutti and Fausto Balbo have met in 2005 at Lab12 in Vigevano; both active in music making since more than fifteen years, their friendship has grown over the years on the fertile ground of the interest that they share about electronic experimentation and their wide and open-minded listening habits. "Detrimental Dialogue", their very first collaboration, deeply explores various types of analogue and digital synthesis (additive, subtractive, Physical Modeling, FM, Phase Distortion, Granular, etc.) and live electronics elements. Recorded together in the authors' studios and then worked out in seclusion between 2007 and 2009, the tracks on "Detrimental Dialogue" were subsequently redefined during a one-week long collective mixing session rigorously made with analogue equipment and precious outboard effects at Fausto Balbo's studio. The album presents four experimental electronic pieces whose exact classification eludes us since their musical contents are rich of the most disparate suggestions. In a formula full of its own natural-born personality, we find elements that recall prominent experimental forms - sometimes pseudo-abstract - rich of fragments, loops and "clusters" of sounds that bear a pronounced and exhibited synthetic matrix. "Atmospheric", dilated and generally quiet sequences are alternated with more structured, dramatic and progressive moments that shake the listeners and emotionally involve them with a more orthodox path, without giving way to conventional or stereotyped solutions... Marutti, Andrea & Tommaso Cosco -- "Turra" -- 3"CD-R -- €7
2008 Afe Records, afe120mcd
Ambient / Dark Ambient / Drone Music. "In the house where I live, a fire-place continually warms my own intimacy during wintertime, while my wife spreads sweet gastronomical scents of real mediterranean nature as I capture the flights and rests of the birds in the garden with my eyes. In silence I listen to the beating of time that scans each and every of my emotions for all the smallest particles and instants of my perceptions. When I have the chance I go to Archiaro, a countryplace where memory and becoming merge in a present full of inspired consciousness. Gratitude lives in my existence and it keeps me in touch with the pulses of silences that pour inside my body where I keep the "Knots" of R.D. Laing, the "Moses and Aaron" of Jean-Marie Straub, the sounds of Morton Feldman, the movements of turtles and a trove where I hope to give shelter to all God's creations." Meerkat -- "Kapnos" -- CD -- €10
2009 Afe Records, afe121cd / Grey Sparkle, GS CD 02 / Ctrl+Alt+Canc Records, ctrl666 / Nighthawks Tapes
Electroacoustic / Experimental / Ambient. In 2003 Maurizio Bianchi and Matteo Uggeri / Hue met through Afe Records; three years later Maurizio asked Matteo for a musical collaboration, which grew up quickly under the design of a long term project called "Between the Elements", a sort of music transposition of concepts that lies in the empty spaces between the natural elements, which are over-abused terms in the New Age music scene. Two albums were published in 2008: one about the concept of "clouds" ("Nefelodhis", by MB and the post-rock band Sparkle in Grey) and one about the concept of "desert" ("Erimos", by MB with Hue and Luca Bergero / Fhievel). One year later, the third chapter entitled "Kapnos" – Greek for "smoke" - is finally available. The industrial master contributes to back notes and concept, but keeps his hands far from the musical matter, leaving it to the expertise of ten of the most interesting experimental musicians of the Italian scene, united under the cryptic name of Meerkat. The Meerkat ensemble is formed by a group of musicians working in the field of experimental music, drones, microsounds and field recordings: Adriano Zanni / Punck, Matteo Uggeri / Hue, Luca Sigurta, Luca Bergero / Fhievel, Davide Valecchi / aal, Andrea Ferraris / Ics, Fabio Selvafiorita, Paolo Ippoliti (Logoplasm), Laura Lovreglio (Logoplasm) and Andrea Marutti / Amon / Never Known. The tracks on "Kapnos" present a surprising homogeneity in spite of the different attitudes of the artists, which mixed their experiences in each track creating new unforeseen connections, working in pairs or in threesome on each track... MZ.412 -- "Burning The Temple Of God" -- CD -- €10
1996/2010 Cold Spring, CSR140CD
This is the ultimate statement in Swedish Black Industrial, summoning forth the act's controversial black metal side and recalling the Norwegian church burnings of the early 90s. Nightmare inducing ritual old school industrial, alongside raw black metal, this album has been hailed as one of the greatest albums in the genre by noise and black metal fans alike! It could actually be considered the first real crossover album between the genres. This ground-breaking, genre-defining album saw the inventors of "Black Industrial" blur the boundaries between Black Metal, Ritual Industrial, Dark Ambient and Power Noise. "In Nomine..." captures the darkest sides of Satanism, death and ritual sacrifice. An enduring, blasphemous statement of True Swedish Black Industrial. This remastered version features two previously unreleased tracks, alternate versions and all new artwork. Housed in a matt digipak with spot varnishing. [press-release]

Netherworld -- "Over the Summit" -- CD -- €13
2011 Glacial Movements Records, GM009
Netherworld’s icy symphony is back as the moniker of Alessandro Tedeschi, Glacial Movements’s mind and arm. After having produced Morketid – acclaimed by critics all over the world as a precious gem of ambient music, and featured on key compilations such as The Wire Tapper 22 (“Aurora Borealis” blu ice mix, edited for The Wire), Zaum Vol.1 produced by the Ireland’s Psychonavigation, and also a split CD with the Canadian duo Nadja titled “Magma to Ice” (Fario Records). Throughout his own label, Netherworld has worked with internationally renowned artists such as Rapoon (ex Zoviet France), Lull (Mick Harris/Scorn), Francisco Lopez, Oophoi, and bvdub and has already planned new features with Thomas Koner, Loscil, Pjusk and emerging, new talent... In the sound of the Roman artists, fragments of classical music blend with field recordings of every kind, voices and found sounds are manipulated, sampled and remixed, converting them in new frames and timbres likely to evoke rest and silence typical of the extensive glacial vastnesses. 3 years after his first full length CD, Netherworld comes back with this new work titled “Over the Summit,” in which enclosed memories, feelings, and past experiences, deeply lived during the years and surrounded by an almost deafening silence, can be heard and felt circling vast mountains’ snowy peaks... The underlined aspect is the sensation of peacefulness or contemplation of an uncontaminated and silent nature, wrapped in the winter’s white blanket. For the six tracks composing “Over the Summit,” the sound emanated by the Aurora Borealis has been embraced and manipulated for a work of art, melting it with ethers of orchestral fragments escaped by the perennial layers of Permafrost. Nordvargr -- "Resignation 2" -- CD -- €12
2010 205 Recordings, 205REC-895, (ltd. 200)
Roughly one year after the mysterious debut release of Resignation ("1897") comes the second chapter, however this time under the Nordvargr banner (reason being is that the other half of Resignation, decided to leave the project in order to pursue new opportunities). Soundwise we have an album similar to the first album, though perhaps more structured and even more melancholy; cold, nostalgic sounding ambience mixed with somber and bleak orchestrations with a minimalistic syncopated "rhythm" (and I use that term loosely) hypnotically pulsating in the background. This is the sound of music left out in the Arctic cold for a century, only to be thawed and patched back to life by a master of his trade. Like the first one, this comes as quite recommended!! [Malignant Records]

2011 Rage In Eden, RAGE 78
I have a pleasure to support with the name of Rage in Eden a publication that discusses Polish province and a bit decadence. It is a short essay about the past and declining relationships between what is now and what has gone in the past. It is about broken relationships between friends who unexpectedly appear in our lives once more. We are connected by one thing – where we come from. You are more than welcome to listen to the album. 2010 Cyclic Law, 30th Cycle, (ltd. 1000)
Canada's Parhelion first full length album "Midnight Sun" is a collection of sonic reflections on the natural geography and harsh climate of the arctic terrain. Perhaps more so, it is also a meditation on the sacred quality of this mysterious land and man's relationship to it. Inspired both by the physical beauty as well as the mystic spirit which shrouds the northern landscapes, the album is the culmination of several years of studio experimentation and sound exploration. Blending guitar drones, icy synth pads and environmental sounds, "Midnight Sun" attempts to convey the solemn spirit of awe and reverence for the great white north through the use of sound and texture. Roma Amor -- "Femmina" -- CD -- €12
2009 Old Europa Cafe, OECD 122
Second album by this intriguing Italian Noir-Cabaret project. 10 songs that celebrate the feminine dark side in all its guises. Italian and dialect lyrics, mostly inspired by female figures of Mediterranean folklore, that deal with the most hidden, sombre, melancholic and romantic aspects of the feminine universe. The aged music of old Europa, with its tango, waltz and cabaret motives, is the soundtrack and the vocalist sounds like she’s putting a lot of wear and tear on her throat in order to render the mood of these combative, bad, scary, deep passionate women. Warm latin stuff for late night listening. [press-release]

Ruhlmann, Mathieu -- "As A Leaf Or A Stone" -- CD-R -- €9
2010 Afe Records, afe123lcd, (ltd. 100)
Electroacoustic / Experimental / Musique concrete. Mathieu Ruhlmann is a visual and sound artist. He first began composing soundworks to accompany his visual art based on found material. He has created works for various labels worldwide - including S'agita Recordings, Mystery Sea, Spekk, Unfathomless, Taalem and Gears of Sand - as well as contributed to several compilations. He has also produced sound installations and held performances throughout North America. He currently resides in Vancouver, British Columbia. Here's a description of "As a Leaf or a Stone" written by Will Long of Celer: "With every beginning, raw objects come into place, and within these objects are found the essence of meaning, and inspiration. "As a Leaf or a Stone", the new album by Mathieu Ruhlmann on Afe Records, is a thriving example of the individuality of natural materials, and the sculpture of character. Using an assemblage of instruments and raw objects, such as a coffee grinder, e-bow, denture cleaner, egg beater, ukelin, turkey baster, frying pan, shruti box (and many more), "As a Leaf or a Stone" stands as a work of creative ingenuity, finding beauty in the combination of raw materials that are characteristically regarded as mundane or lacking in spirit, and transforming them into a work that is both visually conjuring, and comfortingly familiar..." Sub Luna -- "Awake!" -- CD -- €12
2010 Cyclic Law, 1st Eclipse, (ltd. 1000)
Sub Luna is a Swedish duo formed by Mikael Lindblom (also a live collaborator for Karjalan Sissit) and Fredrik Sooberg. After four years of silence they return with their new album Awake! Their sound has definitely been refined and expands the framework established with their previous album, the double CD “"In The Shade of time". On this second album Sub Luna are merging the more traditional elements of the dark folk genre with influences from the world of pop and rock and thus avoid falling into trappings of the genre. Awake! Also symbolically marks the ending of one era and the beginning of another. These are songs of love and hate, nostalgia and progression, magic and loss... songs of protest from the age of nihilism. With a guest vocal appearance by Ann-Mari Thim (Arcana) and Mastering done by Peter Bjargo. Mesmerizing quality Folk Noir brought to you through Cyclic Law's new "Eclipse Series". [press-release]

Tholen -- "Neuropol" -- CD -- €12
2010 Cyclic Law, 28th Cycle, (ltd. 1000)
After his acclaimed first album “Sternklang”, THOLEN now offers us his new album “Neuropol”. Neuropol is the name of a fictional city where bleak scenarios of a post-apocalyptic world are painted. A society divided in two distinct classes populates this contaminated place, a lethargic mass of working slaves on the surface trapped in vast industrial landscapes and the elite underground, who direct their doings while gaining power from rituals for the church of Miro. This is a time of imminent change and possible revolution, since the slaves gathered spiritual power for resistance. This album reveals the darkest corners of these subterranean temples, deadly industrial complexes and hostile slums, where those enslaved are in search of spiritual salvation from mass control and misery. A roadmap of the winding paths of the oppression of flesh and spirit. Come to learn about the beauty of impending decay. Come to Neuropol. The music follows in the foot steps of his previous album with deep, multilayered ambient passages of unworldly proportions. [press-release]

Second collaborative effort between german sound manipulation pioneer Asmus Tietchens and american improv-drummer Jon Mueller. The CD features 8 tracks that run up to 53 minutes. Jon Mueller on the second collaboration: “The previous collaboration between Asmus and I involved me using only sounds derived from drum heads. For Acht Stuecke, I’ve used only Chinese gongs and cymbals, so a completely different range of sound occurs. The performance of the percussion material was from various non-mechanical techniques (striking, swinging gongs, extended techniques, etc.) to create a palette of mostly textural sound with a large frequency range that Asmus could work with.” And indeed, work he did! The completeness that is Acht Stuecke is of breathtaking beauty and simplicity and complexity at the same time. The album is definately more homogenous and ‘together’ than the first meeting of the two musicians. It emanates a warm and deep sound evolving out of total soundless blankness as it seems. Visions -- "Summoning The Void" -- CD -- €12
2010 Cyclic Law, 24th Cycle, (ltd. 1000)
Following in the foot steps of the acclaimed "Lapse" album released in 2005, "Summoning The Void" offers a deeper and more refined rendering of previously explored themes. This is unmistakably VISIONS, but a notch above in terms of spaciousness and musicality and there's an even more profound spirituality transpiring from these tracks. Passages that are more solemn and austere give way to ritualized motifs where voices from the void whisper words beyond words. And then, calm drifts bearing a more aerial and streamlined quality emerge, from which shards of light cut through the massive pitch-black backdrop where a bulging red sun awaits in the distance, endlessly and slowly consuming itself. Beyond that, nothingness. Void. This is the journey where Visions wants to lead us, a world and non-world of infinite proportions, a macrocosmic voyage through the hidden and intangible vastness of all...for we are stardust... Vranorod -- "s/t" -- CD -- €11
2010 Le Crepuscule Du Soir, LCDS026/3
Vranorod represents a reflection of a world through music. Therefore, Vranorod reflects nature in all forms- human, non-human and super-human. Vranorod approach to the theme from the point of view of a spiritualist captured in a world of materialism and that, naturally, must result with a strong melancholic touch to the music and lyrics themselves. This music is dedicated to those who search for wisdom in every single atom of this world and beyond. [press-release] Shoegaze with a touch of Black Metal.
Vrilnoise & Fear Konstruktor -- "Element Of Steel" -- CD-R -- €7
2010 R.O.N.F. Records, RNF-053
These Spanish and Russian projects have recorded 41 minutes of collaborative super-experimental work. Very dense sound, millions of elements and details, appearing and disappearing rhythms, ragged interference, soft processings of vocals buried deep in the mix. Great work with space and sound. Pink and fluffy Power Electronics - recommended. [Abgurd]
Wolfskin feat. Last Industrial Estate -- "Stonegates Of Silence" -- CD -- €12
2010 Malignant Records, TumorCD46
And so the journey formally ends for Wolfskin, 15 years from whence it began with the release of the Hidden Fortress cassette back in 1995. The essence of Wolfskin has transformed and mutated throughout the years, reaching on "The Stonegates of Silence" it's simpler form….one of desolation, solitude, insanity and death, the final frontiers of human existence. As he did with The Hidden Fortress: A Revisitation CD, Wolfskin once again pairs up with Anders Peterson of Objekt 4 fame, now operating under the name of Last Industrial Estate for the purposes of this recording. This is Wolfskin at its bleakest and most restrained, offering 5 tracks of enveloping ambience built around foggy, ambiguous textures and an endless flow of drifting isolationism, shapeless horrors, and oppressive subterranean heaviness. In the case of Stonegates, Wolfskin goes out not with a bang, but with a slow, evolutionary creep into the shadows, forever etched in the lexicon of dark ambient music. In 4 panel digipak. Combined, the discs offer well over two hours of colossal, mind bending atmospherics of the highest order, the sounds radiating outwards into a sprawling horizon of sulfur dark skies, then descending into a relentless maelstrom of shifting textures, treacherous reverberations, and endless, sinister drift... Packaged in a luxurious 8 panel DVDdigipak, with completely new design by Andre Coelho (Sektor 304), this is the perfect marriage of both music and packaging, and will further solidify Blood Music’s status as one of the all time classic dark ambient releases. Zewizz, John -- "2012" -- CD -- €13
2010 Old Europa Cafe, OECD 130
JOHN ZEWIZZ releases hiz first solo CD stepping out ov the SLEEPCHAMBER shadows after almost 30 years! Thru the eras ov Sexmagick, Fetish, Electronic Goth, The Barbitchuettes, Women Of The SS, and at least 6 other stages ov his own unique esoteric styles ov musick: “2012” starts out at the title track. A dance kick poly rhythm styled piece that abstractly question us if 2012 will be the end ov daze. Strangely, you will find the chorus hauntingly hard to evict. “IMMORTALITY" slinks along like an electric styled 'Gang Of Four' track with strangle stayed guitar leads and heavy bass beats. “BLACKSTRAP CORSET” iz a great fetish fun-house piece complete with clown house laughter, school teacher commands and a great heavy low pounding beat – The chorus is clever and sleazy... “INSOMNIA” iz a long piece that contains a steady bass pulse laced in all sorts ov exotik stereo electronix. With a theme ov suggested bestiality and no sleep the track iz nightmare like and bizarre, but still very interesting. Jaguar growls included. “OBSESSION” iz a whispered fetish command vocal styled strap beat track. The overlaid electornix are ghostly and unique. Az what haz made SLEEPCHAMBER so original exists here. Obviously Mr. Zewizz iz the main ingredient in the SLEEPCHAMBER formula. “SPY VS SPY” iz a trip in a dimensional layer ov dark and eerie rhythms that flow thru your veins az whispered vocals again penetrate the subconscious in a virus like degree. “HELLS ANGELS” iz a poly rhythm driven track with a heavy beat kick & Harley's racing through out. “EECIFORP?” iz proficiency backwards. Again the most abstract track on the CD suggesting 2012 being the end ov time. Ending the CD is a 12 1/2 minute dance re-mix ov the title track “2012”. But after the first 5 minutes it scratches into a surreal vocal style ov the opening track. [press-release]

V/A -- "Viva Negativa! A Tribute To The New Blockaders Vol. II Europe" -- 2 CD -- €15
2010 Auf Abwegen, aatp28
Viva Negativa! in a series of UK / European / US and Japanese artists’ tributes to the pioneering UK Noise group The New Blockaders. Vol. II Europe includes exclusive tracks by: Asmus Tietchens, Runzelstirn & Gurgelstock, Giancarlo Toniutti, Christian Renou, Jerome Noetinger, Alexei Borisov, Lasse Marhaug, Massimo, Cisfinitum, Sudden Infant, Kommissar Hjuler, Freiband, Achim Wollscheid, Mama Baer, Das Synthetische Mischgewebe, Dave Philips, Vortex Campaign, Vom Grill, Zbigniew Karkowski, Grunt, Pita, Treriksroset, Benzo, Eshak, RLW... The New Blockaders are a group who, more than any other, define the essence of true Noise music both in art and in act. Their influence on the current crop of popular crossover Noise artists such as Prurient and Wolf Eyes is immeasurable. Emerging at the beginning of the 1980s alongside the Industrial grind of Throbbing Gristle and the harsh, abrasive Power Electronics of Whitehouse, TNB stood out through a purity of vision. Their first record, 1982’s Changez Les Blockeurs, is noise in its most rudimentary form: metallic grating sounds and analogue feedback redefined what could be classified as music. Its abstract form and Dadaist construction challenged all that had appeared before. It’s anti-music approach presented a recording closer to the theory-driven work of Einsturzende Neubauten than their supposed contemporaries. They would appear rarely and when they did it would be in anonymity. The records would emerge even more infrequently with little information and in tiny runs. Collaborations in recent years with artists such as Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore and Merzbow have brough their anti-sound to a younger and diverse audience. The metal-bashing of K2, the awkwardness of Runzelstirn & Gurgelstock, the density of Macronympha and the abrasiveness of Merzbow all owe something to the anti-music of TNB. They can truly be credited as pioneers of Noise music as we know it today. [press-release]

Kyoto noise turntable trio BUSRATCH began in 1998 (and have disbanded after eleven years, making their debut vinyl release also their swan song), performing improvised music on eight turntables simultaneously. Later on, as a duo, KATSURA MORI and TAKAHIRO YAMAMOTO "play back" on turntables a variety of items including prepared records, cymbals, metal objects, and mouse pads, as well as constructing sound improvisationally by amplifying sounds made with the cartridge and arm. Plenty of abstract needle fingering, processing, repetition and extreme noise. Side one contains two elegant, contemporary avant-garde compositions, and on side two are ninety-nine locked grooves. They've performed with Christian Marclay, Otomo Yoshihide, Keiji Haino, Tetuzi Akiyama, Thomas Ankersmit, Utah Kawasaki, Bruno Meillier, Computer Soup, Olivia Block, Seth Nehil, and TV POW. The recorded output features standard instruments like guitars, keyboards, and drums as well as Irvings own electrified crutch mixed with sound collages of family tape recordings from his childhood and field recordings. Truly experimental music in the spirit of Swans, Whitehouse, Merzbow, and AC/DC. [Silber]

Deadwood -- "Ramblack" -- LP -- €15
2008 Cold Spring Records, CSR104LP, (ltd. 300)
“Ramblack" is the follow up to Deadwood's successful 2005 album "8 19" (CSR53CD). Over the past 3 years this Swedish artist has been toiling away, creating a new black ambient / death noise masterpiece and "Ramblack" is the result. Cloaked in a more raw and morbid sound then its predecessor, this album truly changes ones perspective of audial darkness. This analogue beast of an album layers the tonal prayers of demons and the distorted cries of angels, sickness and depravity. True Death Electronics. The soundtrack to your end. "Ramblack" features guest vocals from Norwegian Black Metal legend Maniac (Skitliv, ex-Mayhem), who’s vocal approach on the song 'Forakt' shows the full range of his capacity. Truly one of the most sick and twisted pieces of sonic art ever recorded. Enjoy the disease! [press-release]

Devillock -- "These Graves" -- LP -- €15
2006 Tone Filth, TF33, (ltd. 333)
DEVILLOCK is JUSTIN CHRIS MEYERS on organ, tapes and electronics. He also runs the Tone Filth label and also plays as PANTHER SKULL. He offers four tracks of densely layered sound, knitting all the sounds he can find together. Slowing down old reel to reel tapes on the title track provide another dark gesture in this music. Devillock doesn't play harsh noise as such, but he provides a pretty noise related drone sound. Minimal piercing sounds, mainly the lower region of the sound spectrum, making this quite a menacing affair. Noise as it's supposed to be: menacing, not by the harshness of it's sound, but by the content of what its sound has to offer. Despite it's title and bandname, I think it's a much more serious affair than the average noise attack. Great stuff. [FdW, Vital Weekly]

The second side entitled "Sutreworde" is a live performance by Dieter Muh, from 2003 in Leipzig, Germany, featuring pieces from The Call woven into the 23 minute set. [label info]

Disguises -- "Post-Mortem Depression" -- LP -- €15
2008, Wintage Records & Tapes, WRT-50, (ltd. 300)
"Post-Mortem Depression", the long awaited debut LP by Disguises, scum & splooge surfers of Toronto's noise/avant d.i.y. underground. A volcanic blast of rushing blood & damaged ear drums. "Post-Mortem Depression" was laid to tape at the Gas Station recording studio in late october 2007. Disguises spent a total of 2 days committing total "rock action" abuse live in the studio, scrapped off the floor by vibe captain Dale Morningstar. But before that these songs were hammered out live in front of an audience, almost a full year before recording "Post-Mortem Depression". Hundreds of strings shredded ..... piles of fried speakers ... hours upon hours of vhs tape ate for samples (Carpenter, Dr. Who, David Koresh, and classic Godzilla movies ... there all in here) a gonzo movie buffs auditory wet dreams cum to life. What remains is a 21st century punk rock record crafted by a band to difficult to pigeonhole in to one specific genre. "Post-Mortem Depression" seamlessly blurs the lines between avant/psych creep, free-jazz imrovisation, mechanized industrial groove, and total punk attack. An album made loud to be played loud .... with not one overdub, you fucking rubbahead. "Post-Mortem Depression" a modern rock record created by a band burning the heat of now. D-stroy! 2005/2010 Satanic Skinhead Propaganda, (ltd. 500)
Industrial Black Death chaos of unmatched heaviness, extremity and violence from Pete Helmkamp. Created by Helmkamp, Bill Taylor from ANGELCORPSE/IMMOLATION and Vhex in 2004, the band created some of the destructive and terrorizing sounds ever heard in underground Extreme Metal. After creating the sole release "Mechanized Misanthropy" in 2005 on cd, the group disbanded and faded into obscurity, until this lp. This release, also titled "Mechanized Misanthropy" features the tracks from the original cd, along with additional unreleased tracks, with a new track listing and order, completely different artwork, layout and design, and marks this release as the definitive FELDGRAU onslaught. Over 50 minutes of uncompromising, unforgiving elitist chaos....... This release is limited to 500 copies. Standard lp jacket, printed inner sleeve and black vinyl. [press-release]
Flatgret -- "Xxxxxx" -- 12" -- €15
2006 rundownsun, No.30
Long-awaited vinyl debut from Vancouver underground noise legend Flatgrey. Industrial noise. Harsh, industrial noise. Pure sound. Mechanical, electrical, valve and tube. Scrounged, rescued and resurrected. Filtered through obsession. Menacing roars of bass pushed along grinding mechanics, like millions of rows of pneumatic teeth. Heaving, gnashing. Compressor hiss, and blast furnace tongue. Incendiary atmosphere, superheated, and forced through junked magnets and shredded cones. A nameless exercise. 1-sided gold offset-printing on heavy black paper. One-sided 12" 33rpm vinyl record with silk-screened b-side. Housed in a crystal-clear, heavy polyvinyl sleeve. Featuring art and layout from the artist. [press-release]

The Fortieth Day -- "Syria: 638 AD" -- LP -- €18
2008 Diophantine Discs, n = 18, (ltd. 300)
Over the past two years The Fortieth Day has released numerous cassette releases and Diophantine Discs is proud to issue their first LP. "Syria: 630 AD" consists of two 17+ minute compositions of extremely dense, powerful, and brooding tracks, with some absolutely monstrous bass. Comprised of Mark Solotroff (Bloodyminded, Intrinsic Action, and the BloodLust! label) and Isidro Reyes (Bloodyminded), Chicago's The Fortieth Day creates a unique music that is dense and murky, lurking somewhere between the realms of noise, industrial, and ambient. Various recording sessions are processed, re-processed, and mixed together to create the final studio recordings. Live shows also incorporate live real-time video projections by Noise Crush. Previous works include a collaborative cassette with Sshe Retina Stimulants and releases on BloodLust!, ORCO, and Cipher. Pressed on white vinyl and housed in a silver-printed and laser-cut [die-cut] sleeve. Limited to 300 copies. [press-release]
Giffoni, Carlos / Keith Fullerton Whitman -- "Techno b/w 070207" -- LP -- €18
2009 No Fun Productions, NFP52, (ltd. 400)
Two very active modern electronic musicians who enjoy 20th century analog equipment deliver a document of mind expanding electronics with very different approaches. Giffoni's track 'Techno' is full of layered and perfectly synched synthetic rhythms matched with some very adhesive evolving sounds; Creating something that somehow ends up being a homage to both early techno and harsh Japanese electronics. Whitman's track is a beautiful exploration of synthetic tonality and space, like a sudden massage to several areas of the brain one by one but also all at once with a little spice of musique concrete. Both of these recordings share an expansive and psychedelic nature, as well as a nod to the past while moving into the future. Artwork by Maya Miller. [press-release]
Hirt, Erhard / Claus van Bebber -- "Tefiton" -- LP -- €15
2005 Anthropometrics, Anthro 01, (ltd. 300)
TEFITON features over 40 minutes of thickly layered and at places elegantly slick noise textures generated from electronics, feedback and turntable. TEFITON features Ulrich Krieger (Zeitkratzer, Sonic Youth collaborator) on saxophone on one track. The overall sound shifts between almost classical improv and abrasive moments more known from the field of noise music. A fresh and challenging release! [press-release]
Imminent / Synapscape -- "The Return Of The Incredible Three" -- 7" -- €12
2005 Ant-Zen, act183.3
Irukandji -- "Prey For Me I-V" -- LP + T-shirt -- €22
2007 RRRecords, RRR 200, (ltd. 241)
Irukandji is yet another project/alter-ego of the increasingly prolific Michael Page, the New England electronic noise demon whose Fire In The Head and Sky Burial projects have both already received alot of play around here. Nowhere as blissed out and droney as the Skullflower/Sunroof-esque distorto drone rock of his Sky Burial stuff, nor as fried and electrified as the anarcho power electronics of Fire In The Head, Irukandji is a totally violent entity spewing heavily layered electrical junknoise deathtronix, and Prey For Me is the projects first vinyl release, issued as part of RRRon's new 1-sided LP series. Prey For Me I-V is five tracks of crushing squealing synthesizer overdrive, mangled microphone scrape, and damaged grinding machine noise, sometimes reaching wall-noise levels of density a la Knurl or The Rita, and elsewhere skulking through subdued buzzsaw feedback and grisly death screams buried in the churning chaos. This stuff is alot more rhythmic than similiar-minded blastnoise artists, and there's a couple points on the record where Page creates these awesome lurching grooves of pulsating diseased distortion that f*cking rule. A heavy feast of city-nuking electronic armageddon. Released in a limited edition of 241 copies; the record repeats the same 5 tracks on the b-side. [Crucial Blast] First 29 copies come wrapped in a T-shirt in plain white jacket.
Jazzkammer / Opec -- "Split" -- 12" -- €15
2005 Reverse Recordings, rev-002, (ltd. 323)
Danish label Reverse Recordings have just released a Jazzkammer / Opec split LP. Our side is a 20 minute turntable freak-out, while Opec offer a more subtle but no less intense soundscape. 323 copies, silkscreened covers and a proper vinyl mastering by the good Rashad at D+M in Berlin. [Lasse Marhaug (Jazzkammer)]
Justice Yeldham And The Dynamic Ribbon Device -- "Birthdays" -- LP -- €18
2008 Anarchymoon Recordings, anok22 / Turgid Animal, TA345 / All Thumbs Press, ATP001, (ltd. 600)
Birthdays consists of two live sets by maverick amplified-glass player Justice Yeldham recorded during his & Keg's recent tour of Europe. If you've never heard of the guy you are in for a bloody treat. Using concert-grade piano contact mics, he amplifies a sheet of glass and plays it with his mouth and face, processing it with pedals attached to his belt, usually barefooted. The results are unworldly, and hearing it you would never imagine what created it, something only an Aussie could achieve. Like careening assaults of insect spaceships, he transports the listener to other worlds of sound, ending most often in a crash of the glass upon his head. He survives, bloody but alive, never worse for wear in the morning. Side A was captured in Marseille on the eve of Justice's 35th birthday while side B was recorded on Kegs birthday in Porto (for a preview listen at myspace.com/justiceyeldham). And to top off the birthday cheer Keg also did the cover illustration as a gift for Justice's Birthday. Mastered by the god-like Rasheed of Dubplates (Berlin), the record has been collaboratively released in an edition of 600 copies across the world by Anarchymoon Recordings (North America), Turgid Animal (Europe) & All Thumbs Press (Australia). Black vinyl, B-on-W labels, 2-sided printed insert in PVC sleeve. [press-release]

Stunning electro-acoustic compositions, shimmering electronics, and deep drones housed in a limited 1000 only Grey marbled vinyl LP. Jason Lescallet’s sound world occupies a space between noise, contemporary composition, and minimal electronics. He has released recordings on Cut, RRR, Brombron, and Intransitive and has collaborated with Joe Colley, John Hudak, Greg Kelley, Ron Lessard (as Due Process), and nmperign. [Sound Ohm]

Mutant Ape -- "Live And Proud" -- 7" -- €9
2009 Turgid Animal, TA385 / At War With False Noise, ATWAR059, (ltd. 150)
Great document of last summer from Mutant Ape. I played both these shows with him and they were two of the best shows I've seen Mr Proctor do...it's just total over-the-top, unpretentious NOISE. It's aggressive and in-yer-face; the haters can say whatever the fuck they want but Mutant Ape always delivers the good quite frankly. HARSH NOISE, NO BULLSHIT. Perfect! First side was recorded here at a great show we did with Bizarre Uproar and Gelsomina and the other from the great Distraction fest in Newcastle. [Al Mabon]

Italy's Vestigial presents an immense stream of pitch black ambience infused with dark tectonic upheavals and voice fragments that boil forth from a seething flood of magma before sinking back into the molten stew. The ancient sounds of the Earth as scorched by devastating waves of brooding Fire. [press release]

Phillips, Dave -- "They Live" -- LP -- €18
2009 RRRecords, (ltd. 500)
This is not a noise record, I guess the only description I can give is it's an anarchist actionist protest record - Side 1 sounds like Otto Muehl having his way with Herman Nitsche, side 2 sounds like Herman Nitsche having his way with Otto Muehl - the cover is plastered with swastikas front and back, sorry export to Germany is strictly verboten - this is not a nice record and I have a feeling a lot of people wont like it – f**k 'em, I think its excellent... Oh yeah, limited to 500 copies. [press release]

S.Q.E. -- "Wahid" -- 7" -- €9
2005 Drone Records, DR-73, (ltd. 300)
S.Q.E. is the solo-project of J.GRECO now residing in New York City, who has worked with URE THRALL, KRIS FORCE, ALAN TRENCH, and others and released three full albums so far, now pointing into a more ‘song-oriented’-direction than before ... The title of this EP WAHID means something like “independent” (also “alone” or “solo”) in arabic language. The title-track on Side A is build on powerful oriental percussion, mixed with mesmerizing floating flute, drone- and e-bow-guitar-sounds, forming layers of harmonic overlapping... EPITAPH 3, the B-side, is less rhythmically structured and creates enormous space with backwards-sounds from cymbals and voices, deep drones and synth-layers at the base... two deeply mesmerizing tracks.... Filed under: Oriental & Esoteric Drones. BLACK & WHITE MARBLE - VINYL. WHITE COVERS WITH WONDERFUL CALLIGRAPHED “WAHID”-SYMBOL. [press-release]
Sick Llama -- "Born Again To Die" -- LP -- €18
2004/2007 Hanson Records, HN 164, (ltd. 500)
Heath from Fag Tapes. One of his early cass numbers, that was originally on American Tapes. Broiling & rolling clunkers of moss atmosphere & snot noises. Usually when people say something sounds claustrophobic, they really mean that it sounds like some aggro dude with too many tattoos is popping his neck veins yelling into a tin can. The real claustrophobia is here- creepy, smaller than you might imagine, but kinda gummy. [Weirdo Records]

This picture disc is made extra special not only by the inclusion of “Who Will Deliver Us From Gold and Planets” by CURRENT 93 - an introductory collage destruct that was created at the request of Maniac and is dedicated to him, but also because the artwork that is used for the side containing this track is part of one of Tibet’s own paintings. Stadsgaard, Christian -- "The Source Of Disintegration" -- LP -- €18
2010 Posh Isolation, Posh Isolation_023, (ltd. 250)
All infrastructure, all foundations, have a crack, a breaking point, a dead end, a source of disintegration. This is the sound of collapse. Cold broken drone vanishing into stagnancy, sonic representations of the endless lifeless, the uncured, the cursed. An ocean of frequencies for the drowning, a meditation of endings. [label info]
Steinbrüchel -- "A\B\C\D" -- LP -- €17
2010 BineMusic, BINE 024VYR
Tho-So-Aa -- "Dying Reveal" -- 7" -- €9
2005 Drone Records, DR-76, (ltd. 300), 2nd edition
This German one-man project has impressed many with his very few dark-cold-ambient albums over the last years and we are now very proud to present the very first vinyl release! DYING REVEAL is a surprisingly enjoyable noisy EP including some mixing of voice-samples, from children and other voices, blended with distorted drony-synths, long-waving deep tone-pulsations and electronic bell-like sounds. Become embedded into a great nostalgic melody at the end of track B (The Undefined). A sombre, pulsating ambience with many repetitive audio patterns makes this EP an excellent soundtrack for a trip into the darkest realms. [label info]
Thorn Agram -- "Ar Dievu" -- 10" -- €13
2004 Ars Benevola Mater, ABM 06, (ltd. 497)
It's an outstanding release, subtle and insidious, demanding (and replaying) multiple listenings, a work dealing with war themes and epic remembrances. From the beginning to the very last breath, this disc exhibits glorious choral passages and powerful vocal effects. This blend of classicism and technology is quite unique, and drives the work beyond mere classification. Yet, there'se not a great deal of diversity, or contrast in quality, so isolating individual tracks would be rather unfair to the rest. Created from spiritual knowledge rather than pure technology, and impressively convincing. [press release]

Thorofon -- "1/11 Privat 7/16" -- 10" -- €22
2005 Achtung Baby!, AB 005
Synthetic disco appeared on United Europe ruins, noisy reverberations stinging ruthlessly, static elastic ritual rhythms of dead plants and factories, heart-breaking callous spheres and revelations of the distortion in the vacuum of colorless urbanistic landscapes, painful intrusions into the human soul's anatomy. Thorofon investigate cycles of a human flesh wandering through all circles of the civilized modern Dante's hell scrupulously. The optimistic tragedy. The Death dances in anatomic realities of the well-known theatre Grand Guignol aesthetics. Relax & Drop! ...If you think that knows everything about industrial music, forget it. We're sure that the new project is the unexpected revelation of this musical style. [label info]
Throat -- "Adult Situations" -- 7" -- €9
2010 Kult Of Nihilow, (ltd. 330)
This all-too-brief EP from Turku, Finland's Throat (released by Kult of Nihilow) throws down a mere two tracks/10 minutes of high-quality "noise rock". Driven largely by pulsing, lightly distorted basslines and crisp, natural percussion, the harsh shouts and mangled singing fight their way forth from the back of the mix amidst guitars that offer up everything from swirling layers of feedback, repetitious rhythmic churns, and weird bends, to the types of surging, angular riffing you'd expect from this particular niche. My knowledge of this style is not what I'd like it to be, so I'm not really sure what parallels I'd draw here (not that it's necessary), but the band seems to draw comparisons to 16, Unsane, and Fudge Tunnel more often than not. I'd lean harder on Unsane than anything else in that list, but… it probably doesn't really matter, right? The bottom line is that this is an awesome 7" and it certainly leaves me hungry for more, which is what any good EP should do! [Aversionline]
Thurnemans -- "Punishment As A Reward" -- 7" -- €9
1999 Entartete Musikk, EM 03, (ltd. 300)
Total Life -- "s/t" -- LP -- €13
2005/2007 Animal Disguise, ADR061LP, (ltd. 500)
Total Life is the solo project of Kevin Doria who is also a member of the atmospheric/noise/drone group, Growing. This is his debut release that we originally released as a limited edition cassette in 2005. This album displays an obsessive sense of composition and an absolute mastery of harnessing chaos to create a solid masterpiece. Heavy electronic washes, multiple layers of feedback and shifting harmonics create a powerful wall of sound that at first seems overtly harsh, but repeated listenings reveal a hidden beauty and natural soothing effect. Fans of Growing shouldn't be disappointed, but to make the comparisons to them would be much too easy. Total Life stands on its own, and walks its own path. [label info]

It doesn't have much in common with his old work, but it's good on it's own. Old bones still have young soul. I'm very pleased by Alex way to formulate horrible butchers, ball-breaking revolutionary sloguns. Here he confined himself to samples of revolutionary masses calling to fling off the old world for the new one, pierced by gamma-rays of future. My side of cassette contains exercises for that lousy plastic sounding processor Zoom 707II. Thanks to Valera who gave it to me to play. I don't know how it's for guitar, but it's quite good for noise, it gives dirty, muddy, farty sound. All contras for guitar players turn into pros for noisers. [Grigory Avrorin / Huren Aquarium]
Jah Excretion -- "s/t" -- C-20 -- €5

Harsh and heavy Jah? Kill'in in the name of? Could there really be such a thing, Yes and the artists name is Jah Excretion. Hailing from Tokyo, Japan, Jah creates thick green-weed harsh walls of resin noise. Side A opens with some field recorded whistleing before being lobatomized by some no-input mixing harshness. Side B kills it with some sci-fi/pysch dub before being obliterated in to a realm of damaged frequencies and sputtering coughs of sound. Cassette comes sprayed with red, greens and brown. Cover tribute to Miles Davis, "On The Corner" wrapped in a poly case. [label info]

2011 Biosonar^Lo-End 006, (ltd. 13)
Deep tape harsh ambient. Industrial loops put to the state of multi-level crunch and groan by multiple rerecording through magnetic tape. Recommended to crunch-rattle-cooperatives and private collectors. [label info]
Pustota -- "Excessed Levels" -- C-60 -- €8
2011 Biosonar^Lo-End 005, (ltd. 11)

Allseits -- "Hel" -- CD -- €12
2009 Cyclic Law, 23rd Cycle, (ltd. 1000)
ALLSEITS is the Solo project of the german instrumentalist Nina Kernicke known from her recent collaboration with German Drone pioneers Troum of which Nina has also been a recent live member of and her work under her other alias, ALLSIDES. The Album "Hel“ describes the way into the underworld, the listener is guided through various stages on the journey down to Hel, the Norse mythological term for hell and also for the goddess Hel who is said to keep watch over the underworld. The journey begins at the foot of Yggdrasil, the world tree, under which the entry to Hel is hidden. We then ride the river Gjöll, that flows along the human world before it runs down to Hel. Gjöll is spanned by the bridge Gjallarbrù which is guarded by Modgudr, a female giant, who decides who can pass the bridge. Leaving Gjallarbrù behind, the large dog Garm that sentinels the gate to Hel is waiting and at his side sits Fjalar, a rooster that will crow to signify the beginning of Ragnarok, the end of the world. After passing Fjalar Hel is finally reached. This allegoric tale is expressed diligently by Kernicke with the use of guitar, bass, drums and skillful sampling creating thick drony layers of deep and solemn emotions. Aquadorsa -- "Cloudlands" -- CD -- €13
2009 Glacial Movements Records, GM006
Aquadorsa is a new musical Italian ambient project formed by Enrico Coniglio and Oophoi. Their first work “Cloudlands” is a perfect mix of glitch, classical and orchestral glacial ambient soundscape. Enrico Coniglio is a guitar player and composer and his research has increasingly focused on the relationship between 'music' and 'landscape ', in an attempt to represent the contemporary crisis of the territory, the loss of nature and identity of places, and the unknown on the evolution of post-urban and post-industrial territory. He has collaborated with various artists, including: Nicola Alesini, Joachim Roedelius and Elisa Marzorati. He has produced some releases such as "AREAVIRUS - topofonie vol.1" (2007 Psychonavigation), "dyanMü (2008 Psychonavigation) and digital releases Sapientumsuperacquis on Touch Radio (Touch records) and Cro`nicaster (Cro`nica Electronica). Gianluigi Gasparetti better know as Oophoi started his own music experiments in 1995, trying to explore the shores of deep space-ambient. His live album "The spirals of time", released in 1997 by Amplexus, has been voted as one of the best ambient albums of all times. Symmetry perceived as some kind of balance and harmony. Symmetry between surrounding world and its "mirror reflection", which sticks in our minds. Symmetry of left and right side, day and night, birth and death. Symmetry of buildings, objects, bodies. biquitous symmetry. Brand new album of Cold Fusion reflets ist theme - dynamic, marching atmosphere from one side, melancholy and reverie from another. Combative Alignment -- "…And Outside Glows The Red Dawn" -- CD -- €10
2005 Malignant Records, TumorCD24, (ltd. 100)
After several releases, including full length vinyl releases on LOKI and their own label Avatar, and a 7" on Eternal Soul, the first full length CD from this powerful and visionary German project on US label Malignant now. Can perhaps be seen as Combative Alignments benchmark, offering 6 tracks that work as a virtual musical thoroughfare to a more dreamlike, illusory state. Deeply brooding atmospheres, where omniscient layers of drones and reverberating sound currents meet measured, ritual percussion as performed under the glowing, gloomy haze of a primordial sunrise. And Outside Glows the Red Dawn shines a dim light on a world of obscure origin, full of dark Germanic mysticism and unearthly sonic terrain. On a whole, this is a more focused, deeper, and fluid recording than you've heard before, yet triumphantly carrying on the tradition laid down by previous releases. [press-release]

Cria Cuervos -- "Vor Feuerschlünden" -- CD-R -- €9
2007 Afe Records, afe092lcd, (ltd. 100)
Electroacoustic / Experimental. Cria Cuervos is the music project of italian sound artist Eugenio Maggi. Influenced by surrealism, minimalism, Drone and Industrial music, Hard Core/Punk and Grind, his music has evolved from more noisy experiments and now sits somewhere in between darker ambience and electroacoustic. During the years he created several full-lenght solo works and also collaborated with artist such as Paul Bradley, Sparkle in Grey, Ninth Desert and Maurizio Bianchi. His music was released on many international labels: Immanence, Thisco, Mystery Sea, Taalem, Twenty Hertz and Dielectric Records. "Vor Feuerschlünden" (...German for "Before Throats of Fire"...) is Cria Cuervos's latest full-lenght offering and it probably is his best solo work to date. The album features two long tracks of electroacoustic / experimental nature, built using field recordings (...cicadas, gas, frogs, water...), self-programmed Theta waves, short waves and softwares. No synthesizers were used during the recording process. [label info]

De Farbiek -- "Quatro-Erogenic-Occupy Theme's Part II" -- CD-R -- €9
2004/2007 AFE Records, afe058lcd2, (ltd. 103), 2nd edition
Alien Therapy Music. The core members of De Fabriek created the main tracks for this album and provided tons of samples to Hue (...of Sparkle In Grey and Normality / Edge fame...) who integrated them with the music, created a few new tracks, reworked the lot adding more and more layers of his own sounds and did a magnificent mix which was later finalised for production by The Afeman himself. The main theme and inspiration for "Quatro-Erogenic-Occupy Theme's Part II" comes from close encounters, otherworldy lifeforms, contactism and the whole space/alien cover-up, myth or truth in general. The whole disc has obviously a space taste and showcases beautiful Kraut-Rock oriented ballads, weird voices and vocal oddities, mantrically mysterious acoustic instruments and percussions, space-guitars, old fashioned synthesizers and electronics... DL & EK -- "XIB" -- CD-R -- €7
2001 Soulworm Editions, Worm XII, (ltd. 200)
Formerly known as Dachaulustknaben and Einsatzkommandos, these two legends of German power electronic scene in early Nineties came out with a collaborational release, entitled 'XIB'. The title stands for their deathcamp concept - XIB was the number of the women's block in one of the nazi lagers. But neither DL nor EK did approach the subject alike so many other power electronics outfits. Their attention has turned out to the victims not mutilators. Later on, they have decided to leave this imaginery as nothing original anymore. Anyway, their recordings speak for themselves alone, as only 'alte-schule' power electronics can do. Extremely raw, grinding and obscure electronic assault that crushes your bones and boils your blood, still being soundscape rather than just noise for the sake of noise. This CDR is a re-release of long sold-out one on Bastet Recordings (re-mastered version of the '92 tape). [press-release]
Dronaement -- "Allein... Unter Menschen" -- CD-R -- €9
2004 AFE Records, afe051lcd, (ltd. 150)
Dronaement is active since 1997 and is the main musical project of Marcus Obst who lives in the South area of what once was East Germany. Marcus is also involved in the Das Rhythmische Ornament experimental drone-punk duo and runs a small label called Nauze [Muzick]... After a few amazing tape albums he joined the Drone Records serie with the "Wassermond" 7", which was based on a collaboration with Jim De Jong, followed soon by a split LP with The Infant Cycle (Jim De Jong again....). Since then he released some marvellous solo CD-R albums on Dachstuhl, Nauze [Muzick] and Mistery Sea that everyone with an even small interest in Drone / Experimental music should immediately put their hands on. An "analog drones meet muffled guitars" collaboration with french guitarist Rabbit's Sorrow (Sebastien Roux) was also released on CD by Le Cri De La Harpe. "Allein... Unter Menshen" is the fully remastered re-version of the tape originally released on Nauze [Muzick] back in 1999. The first long track entitled "Allein..." was recorded using an electric organ as the only sound source. It is a beautifully calm drone played on the G tone, which is the tone of the day, and is meant to induce a state of meditation into the listener. "...Unter Menschen" is another very long track, some kind of a floating collage constructed from hours of field recordings taken in a big railstation hall in Leipzig, Germany. The last track, "Abriss" is a short but beautiful exclusive addition to this CD-R re-release... Dronaement is clearly one of the most talented drone-based music project around and "Allein... Unter Menschen" is a nice rediscover of one of his earliest releases. [label info]

Ellende -- "Heroin" -- 3"CD-R -- €6
2004 AFE Records, afe50012, (ltd. 50)
"Heroin" starts as a sparse and pleasantly vibrating drone-based piece and slowly get crowded with pulsating and swirling elements. As the swirlings continue and percussive sounds are introduced, the music evolves into some kind of hazy and hypnotic dream populated by creatures speaking with backward/high-pitched voices. Approaching the end of the track, all these elements slowly fade away leaving room for otherworldly noises/effects and a sort of vocoderized voice. As usual, the concept for this releases is focused on a writing by Wim Bontjes, a deceased Ellende member. [label info]

First Human Ferro -- "Ferrari" -- CD-R -- €7
2002 Soulworm Editions, Worm XXVIII, (ltd. 250)
The industrial spirit is still alive, and for those in doubt here is the album that proves it. First Human Ferro proceed with radicalizing their sound, and compared to the their previous album on Soulworm this one is much more harsh and uncompromised. To lighten up the riot, crushing rthytms and straightforward noise bursts have been crafted – no bitching! Political, commited, yet unlike a pile of power electronics rednecks, intelligent libertarian message is an itegral part of the concept – not just an image. And it keeps them real, which is oh so rare nowadays. [press-release]
First Human Ferro -- "Metaballistik: The Voyeur And His Infra-Red Insekts" -- CD-R -- €7
2001 Soulworm Editions, Worm IX, (ltd. 100)
Coming from the area known of the infamous Chernobyl nuclear plant's disaster, the musicians behind first human ferro seem to be inspired by the tragedy and its aftermath that is to be seen all around them. A sound they create drowns in an eerie atmosphere of abandonment and decay. Cold, hollow ambiences based on a solid foundation of noisy electronics that bites your frail skin as unseen roentgens of radiation do. First human ferro becomes one of the most recognized industrial music outfits from Ukraine. 'Metaballistik...' is the second, and the best of their recordings to date, being released by several labels simultaneously, on various media formats. Of course, the Soulworm's version is a special one - as it contains additional tracks and exclusive artwork. [press-release]

Songtitles like "Yggdrasil 3000" and "Heliga Nord" round the album to a powerful conceptual work about Eurasian understanding of spirituality. [press-release]

H.E.R.R. -- "Fire and Glass: a Norwood Tragedy" -- mCD -- €8
2007 Cold Spring Records, CSR74EP
This brilliant new four-track EP from the Anglo-Dutch masters of Neoclassical music relates to the incredible story of the Crystal Palace, an architectural jewel in the heart of Victorian London and itself a tragic metaphor for the rise and fall of the British Empire. Recited alongside talented Dutch composer Michiel Spape's wonderful score, Troy Southgate - who was born and bred in the area - begins his tale with a beautiful description of the Palace in all its majestic glory, before moving on to a dramatic account which deals with its cataclysmic destruction in 1936 and, finally, a very moving and personal epilogue which elaborates upon the heartfelt sadness he feels for Upper Norwood's contemporary decline. Welcome to the Pleasuredome! [press-release]
In Meditarium -- "Les Fleurs Du Mal" -- CD-R -- €7
2002 Soulworm Editions, Worm XVII, (ltd. 300)
Another fine incarnation of the almighty Ukrainian artists of the First Human Ferro fame. In Meditarium has that easily recognisable sound, but makes a few steps deeper into dark atmospere of decadent joys of an alienated human being. Some ritualistic influnces are to be heard (say Archon Satani in the 'Virgin Birth' period), the rudimetary melodies fulfill the whole setting. The lyrics deal with consensual aspects of love and completion on the one hand, pain and serenity on the other. James Joyce's lines (taken form 'Giacomo Joyce') constitute the final comment and an invocative epitafium to this masterpiece... [press-release]

The Finnish pioneer is back from the degenerated and alcoholized Swedish ghetto of Eskilstuna. 3rd full lenght from Markus Pesonen who now dove deeper into total Melancholy, Anti socialism, Bitterness, Disintegration and Alcoholism. Filled with what has defined KARJALAN SISSIT's sound thus far: Bombastic outbursts of Neo classical arrangements entwined in traditional Finnish Humppa and deep industrial sonorities. The songs were this time fiercly enhanced with some added vocals giving the whole album a much more aggressive touch. Again produced by Peter Bjärgö at Erebus Odora, this new album definitely stands above it's predecessors. Edition of 1000 copies in A5 book. 2nd edition. [press-release]

Lull -- "Like a Slow River" -- CD -- €13
2008 Glacial Movements, GM004
After a long period of silence, Glacial Movements Records is glad to announce you the return of the most important representative of ambient isolationist music ever: the wonderful English artist Mick J. Harris aka LULL (Scorn, Painkiller, Napalm Death).Unquestionable genius of the last century's second half European music and point of reference about the rising isolationist aesthetics, being on the same wavelength as post-rock last scenaries... "Like a slow river" it's a work characterized by sharp and minimal atmospheres but also dark, cold and huge such as big bodies of ice which slowly move carried by an endless river. The five compositions of "Like a slow river" reach the high expectations of the previous works such as "Cold Summer", "Continue" and the "Murder Ballads" trilogy with Martin Bates. With no doubt, this is the coldest and darkest work ever composed by this pioneer of industrial-ambient music. You all will be led to the oblivion of your existence....the freezing darkness of these glacial night is going to come down on your bodies and minds....you'll fall in your deepest sleep with the far echo of glacial runnings....the way to eternity is in front of you.... Never Known -- "Once in a Lifetime" -- CD-R -- €9
1995/2007 Afe Records, afe014rcd
Never Known is the earliest music project of Andrea Marutti, best known as Amon and as Afe label owner. Andrea began his experiments with music in the early '90s using tapes and concrete elements. A few years later he also began to use synthesizers, samplers and other electronic devices, and founded the Lips Vago Digital Studio. Several releases of Ambient / Dark Ambient music were published by labels such as Eibon Records, Amplexus, Drone Records, Taalem, etc. on CD and other medias. Following "Dawn of an Era", "Once in a lifetime" was Never Known's second release. Recorded between August 1994 and August 1995, it was published by Murder Release as a C46 tape in September 1995. The tape was subsequently re-released on CD-R by Afe in March 1999. For this new edition, all tracks were remastered from the original tapes by the author in March 2007 at Lips Vago Digital Studio. The album consists of ten short ambient numbers mostly created with poor equipment which included several tape recorders, cheap microphones and objects. Basic synthesizers lines were subsequently added to some of the tracks. [label info]

New Risen Throne -- "Whispers of the Approaching Wastefulness" -- CD -- €12
2007 Cyclic Law, 18th Cycle
The latest offering and first for Cyclic Law of one of Italy's finest Black Ambient master. The main concept and transpiring feeling of this album and the title "Whispers of the approaching wastefulness" can best be described as the "steps" or "journey" leading to the acknowledgment of the approaching end of all things. "Whispers" represent doubts and thoughts about the prevalent decadence that is around and deep within us and "wastefulness" translates to the imminent, definitive end of all things, to oblivion... NEW RISEN THRONE's latest opus offers a bleak and sorrow filled soundtrack celebrating death with little hope for rebirth... This Enhanced CD features an exclusive bonus video clip of the unreleased track "Unknown (II)". [label info]

Ninth Desert -- "Different Trouble Experiences of Twilight" -- CD-R -- €9
2007 Afe Records, afe073lcd, (ltd. 100)
Ninth Desert is the latest solo project of Cyril Herry from France, also known before as Ashes To Ashes, Sechres Mound (a duo in collaboration with Toy Bizarre), Lecanora and Exotoendo. During the years his music has been released by many international labels including Athanor, Old Europa Cafe, Harmonie, Verato Project, Taalem / Kokeshidisk and Mystery Sea... As the title aptly suggests, the album was recorded using many different kinds of manipulated, stretched, treated and stripped down sound sources. All the tracks on "Different Trouble Experiences of Twilight" were created mostly at night during Summer 2005 ("Headscape", "Combinations From a Persistent Night" and "Somewhere Close to the Skin") and Summer 2006 ("Selective Memory" and "Red Mute"). They represent different mentalscapes where all elements are forced to coexist in the same time and space by a complex internal memory system. [label info]

Nocturne -- "Fleisch und Metall" -- CD -- €12
2007 Steinklang Industries, SKD 17, (ltd. 500)
"Fleisch und Metall" is a conceptual album, a soundtrack for an actionistic performance, done by the French Industrial / Noise act Nocturne. The performance took place in a old, ruined factory and the 20-page booklet shows impressions from this event, as well as several artistic fotos from industrial areas. "Fleisch und Metall" is a very organic and icecold album, sometimes reminding to early Werkbund, sometimes even to japanoise-like metall-orgies. All in all the album is very complexly structured and many changes in music and style don't let come up any boring moments. Nocturne also uses a lot of samples in French language and even more sirenes, saws, metal-hammerings and more machine sounds, what gives "Fleisch und Metall" the grade of a 100% pure Industrial album. An additional 11 minute video brings you a challenging hommage to industrial work and revolution, accompanied by an amazing Industrial soundtrack. [press release]

Northaunt -- "Horizons" -- CD -- €12
Cyclic Law, 16th Cycle
3rd full lenght album from Norway's most renowned Ambient Atmospheric act. HORIZONS is a collection of 7 long ambient landscapes, lonely sceneries on the verge of night, places we long for, places we have been, sanctuaries from mankind, devoid of human elements. This is desolation made audible, carefully constructed and layered with deep drones, melancholic tonalities and outdoor field recordings which makes this Northaunt's most haunting release so far. Includes a bonus Video file with an alternate version of the track "The Wilderness". [press release]

Old Monks' Saga -- "09.11.01: Illuvatar's Children Present Time" -- 3"CD-R -- €6
2002 Soulworm Editions, Worm XIX, (ltd. 44)
'During the whole history of human civilization, mankind has fought itself because of religion, ideologies or national differencies. This process has been expressed once more in September 11, 2001 as an apogeum of the conflict between America and the Muslim world. We're at a starting point for the end of civilization...' Unlike the former OMS recordings, the contents of the following disc is much harder. Bombastic orchestrations are collapsing into the decomposed mayhem of industrial sounds, multiplying the feeling of chaos, panic and uncertainty. [press-release]
Oophoi -- "An Aerial View" -- CD -- €13
2008 Glacial Movements Records, WSGM001, (ltd. 750)
"When I’ve been asked to describe the Ice Age with an uninterrupted drone, I knew I wanted to avoid the cliches of the genre: dark rumblings, massive low frequencies, cold atmospheres. I had to describe with sounds the white landscape, the blinding light reflected by the frozen oceans, the abyssal silence. I have imagined myself in flight over this Sleeping Earth, a solitary winged-being surrounded by winds, air, water and ice. This led me to compose an airy drone with minimal variations and delicate tones, an hommage to a pure, incontaminated and remote land." [from the author]

Phelios -- "Astral Unity" -- CD -- €12
2010 Malignant Records, TUMOR CD 44
Following two CDs on Eternal Soul and a recent split LP on LOKI, Germany’s revered dark ambient project Phelios makes their first appearance for Malignant. With its swirling cosmic drones and sweeping, cinematic drift, the music of Phelios is breathtaking and hypnotic, often evoking moments of serenity and beauty, yet spiking them with deep cushions of ritualistic percussion and textural squalls that suggest something much more ominous and threatening looms on the vast horizon. Collectively, Astral Unity is thoughtful and concise – a vivid and richly detailed entity that’s alive and constantly evolving, channeling the universe while simultaneously exploring the inner regions of a more primordial earth. In 6 panel digipak, with gold foil stamping. [press-release]
Pholde -- "Aperture of the Internal Surface" -- CD-R -- €9
2007 AFE Records, afe098lcd, (ltd. 100)
Dark Ambient / Sound Art / Experimental. Pholde is the dark ambient project of sound artist Alan Bloor who is also known for his extreme noise music project called Knurl. In the late '80s he began performing noise backgrounds at poetry readings in which he experimented with his bass guitar by placing metal objects on the strings to produce the sounds. Since that time, Bloor has delved heavily into experimentation with found objects as sound sources. While Knurl unleashes harsh noise performances and side-project Pyrox creates intense electronic drones, Pholde creates dark ambient soundscapes by the bowing and scraping of self-created metal sound-sculptures with hand files, smooth and threaded metal rods, angle iron and blocks of steel to produce atmospheric, haunting soundscapes. His music was released on many labels worldwide, including Alien8 Recordings, Gears of Sand, Mystery Sea, RRRecords, Taalem and Troniks. As usually happened with all previous Pholde's works, the two pieces on "Aperture of the Internal Structure" were produced and recorded by Alan in single sessions without any overdub, using only his sound-sculptures as source material aided by reverb and some equalization... Prurient -- "The Black Post Society" -- CD -- €10

"The Black Post Society" embraces and accepts the depression of not having anything left to hunt. The mask without a face to hold. The depression of the hunter after the deer is killed. It is better to be hungry than to have eaten. As fantasy shatters under the whip of reality, erotic malaise settles in the nest of the mind inverting this dormant fuel to rekindle the endless cycle of sexual chaos. Schmerz -- "Old School Misanthropy" -- CD-R -- €7
2007 New Nihilism, NN I, (ltd. 300)
Old School Misanthropy is a debut release by a new band formed out of three individuals running their notorious noise mongering projects as Leichenhalle, Mantichora and Sujoy. Schmerz unifies their sound–abrassive struggle in another form. Right form the start it has been pretty obvious that after several initial rehearsals and spontaneous live-without-audience recording sessions they will came up with nothing else than deliciously rough and grinding, industrialised power electronics noise mayhem with angry screamings and insane scansion of profound lyrics. Intentional use of limited variety of tools like analog synthesizers, mangled electronics, processed feedback, metal junk abuse and pissed off attitude has brought Schmerz back to simple, yet effective basics. Such approach is kind of hard to came across nowadays which makes this album a gem. Yes, this is a brutal stuff. And yes, you'll love this. [press-release]

Sinke Dus -- "Akrasia" -- CD -- €12
2007 Cyclic Law, 19th Cycle
Akrasia is an old question dealing with the weakness of the will. To behave "akratically" is when one acts against his better judgement, committing acts that are known to be wrong but yet still going through with the motion. Markus Lonebrink wanted to explore not so much the philosophical issues at hand, but rather the subjective experience of akrasia itself. To learn of the underlying motives of when one acts akratically. Certain events in the akratic process felt natural to him and it was those he tried to integrate into these soundscapes. There are no conclusions described in the music, but there might be a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel and perhaps the shadow of a hint of why we humans sometimes act as irrationally as we do. A shared quest to gain better knowledge of oneself through this self-revisionistic ambient journey filled with ethereally lush passages that give way to a truly visionary and immersive experience.
The album also features a special collaboration with Par Bostrom of KAMMARHEIT. In fold out gatefold cardboard sleeve. [press-release]

Stegm -- "Abstinence" -- CD-R -- €7
2002 Soulworm Editions, Worm XXI
Finally, we are glad to intruduce an album dealing with our long-live fetish interest. Adorable, BDSM oriented, voiceless power electronics radically executed by Ryan Bloomer (Flatline Construct). Tarkatak -- "Skärva" -- 7" -- €9
1998/2003 Drone Records, DR-34, (ltd. 300), 2nd edition
A North German drone-project that has since this EP developed to one of the main german atmospheric deep droners... Beautiful & dark transcendental noise. “First full-lenght E.P. of a quite unknown German project, which only appeared on 3 cassettes so far and on a split-7" with DEEP. TARKATAK uses synths and other electronic devices, the music is slow & dull, non-impulsive and dream-like. Very low rumblings, dark harmonies, some subliminal & dense backwards-effects, this is sensible "archaic music" which could be easily compared to old Zoviet France and the likes. Another Mind-Drone. If you're able to go INTO the sound, the sound will pulsate in YOU and have effects for a long time...” [original Drone Records press release] 300 copies on blue-white-red multicolour vinyl and beautifully designed fullcolour covers by Mario F.
Telepherique -- "Hörspiele" -- CD-R -- €9
2002 AFE Records, afe046lcd, (ltd. 266)
"Hörspiele" is essentially a mixture of Ambient and Concrete music, a remarkable work whose main inpiration comes from the sensibility of Hearing, the chance of dreaming, meditating and travelling by the means of well known noises that people hardly listen because they are always present in the so-called "everyday life". For once the background turns into foreground and gets all the attention it always deserved. [label info]

Telepherique + Bianchi, Maurizio -- "Zehn Tage (Touka)" -- CD -- €10
2004 AFE Records, afe059cd
Experimental. "Zehn Tage (Touka)" is a very special work born from the great friendship of two well-known estabilshed artists. The album concept is focused on the uselessness of time calculation compared to the precision of time itself. The disc title ("Ten Days", in english) refers and is dedicated to those forgotten days of History that were arbitrariously severed off in October 1582 during the Pope Gregorius XIII's Western Calendar Reformation. "Zehn Tage (Touka)" could be described best as a good mixture of Ambient and Concrete music: as in the best Afe record's tradition, it's not afraid of breaking down those genre boundaries, sliding further into psychedelic-tinged rhytmical territories. This is the very first collaboration in Maurizio Bianchi's rather long musical career and also the first Afe CD release... [label info]

Telepherique + Ultra Milkmaids -- "A-C Symbiose" -- CD-R -- €9

Following the successful 10" on Rendez Vous Radikal in 1998 and the "Nan Ticum Remixes" CD on Ignis Records earlier this year, Afe is honoured to introduce the third collaboration of Klaus Jochim and Yann Jaffiol. Patiently crafted using audio samples exchanged via mail, this work both explores and compares the untired possibilities still offered by analogic synthesis and the wide range of transformations that numeric systems can apply to sound using the latest computer technology. Telepherique does a good job on the analogic side while Ultra Milkmaids provides accurate digital treatments so that the analogue-computer symbiose is finally obtained with great effect for our listening pleasure. Temple Of Tiermes -- "Psychotropic Substances" -- CD-R -- €7
2003 Soulworm Editions, Worm XXXIV, (ltd. 333)
Being an incarnation of the Tiermes duo, Temple of Tiermes explores the sonic areas that are pretty close, from another angle though. Mind mangling, powerfull dark industrial ambience based upon acoustic and electronic preparations with almost shamanistic approach. While the bands members often dissapear in the woods to 'revitalize' among the fruits of mushroom, the eerie recordings they bring back are remarkable. Ritual – this should be a keyword when discussing Temple of Tiermes activities. The acompanying booklet presents photographic work by one of the bands members, and further visuals can be found in video presentation playable on the computer. Previously released on vinyl by Kaos Kontrol, the album became highly acclaimed and sold out soon after. Don't miss the secong chance as there could be no another chance given – it's a limited edition release again. [press-release]

Sternklang is the expression of the intimate encounter with the whole, the direct connection with the stars and the vast universe, the sense of complete union with all the overdimensional attributes of what sourrounds us. With THOLEN, Eisen, the man behind this project has given us an aurally materialized glimpse of his numerous stargazing evenings...where the soundscapes are revealed while the stars seemed to gather and sing out of their primordial and powerful environment. True Colour Of Blood -- "Awakened, To Never Sleep Again" -- CD-R -- €7

Raw and uneasy guitar drone ambient from States. "Guitar does not seem to be the perfect tool to create ambient sounds. But Eric Kesner proves it can work just perfect. Voice Of Eye -- "Emergence & Immersion" -- 2 CD -- €18
2009 Old Europa Cafe, OECD 123
In 2007 Voice of Eye ended their 12-year silence with 2 CD-R improvisation volumes: Emergence and Immersion. The works were released for their European tour in editions of only 100 each and sold out fast. Now those impossible-to-find, extremely limited releases are finally available on factory-pressed CD’s! Old Europa Cafe of Italy has re-released Emergence & Immersion in a fine 2-CD 4 page full-color digifolder, re- mastered with a new bonus track, “Peacock Symphony”, offering 2 and a half hours of music. Spontaneity and raw emotional expression punctuate and keen throughout. Although completely improvised, the music seems amazingly composed. One can intuit that the musical re-uniting of this duo created a vortex in the worlds. Wildness, beauty, humor, darkness, fear, horror, yearning, grief and vast spaciousness inhabit this mysterious lively music. Herein one finds some of the source material for their recent live shows: “Immersion”, “Dark Ritual”, “The Gates of Oblivion”, “Free”. A large array of instruments are used here including guitars, trombone, flutes, double-reeds, percussion, voices as well as Voice of Eye’s self-made instruments: Squawk Box, Bass-Thing, Jeemna, Thing and Thing-mini. Winquist Virtanen -- "Dead Last" -- CD-R -- €7
2002 Soulworm Editions, Worm XXXIII, (ltd. 100)
Bleak. The word might have been overused, but this new album from Swedens Winquist Virtanen entitled Dead Last is the very definition of that word. Some call it dark ambient, some call it isolationism and some call it the soundtrack of hopelessness, but regardless of which description you deem most fitting, this album is bound to send you looking for the razor blades and erase what little remains of your will to live. "Dead Last" follows in the steps of its predecessor "All Hope Is Gone" with it's combination of dark, slowly evolving drones and the cold reverberations of metal against metal, but takes it one step futher to an even colder, more desolate domain of absolute darkness. Through the course of its 50 minute duration it offers no escape, no relenting and no hope, only desperation, fear and hopelessness. [press-release]
Wolfskin -- "O Ajuntar das Sombras" -- CD -- €12
2008 Malignant Records, TUMOR CD22
Finally, after years of delay, O Ajuntar das Sombras by Wolfskin is finally unleashed. Initally intended to be a re-issue of 2001-s very limited The Gather of Shadows by the Setting Sun CDr (Ajna), it eventually evolved into a re-working of three tracks from that release, complimented by 7 newly recorded tracks. As the Wolfskin era comes to end, this release represents a glimpse into their past - a more organic, flowing ambient record than what you may find today, and perhaps the least conceptual of all their releases. That being said, it most certainly will go down as one of their more stunning, darker visions; a masterpiece of shadowy atmospheres and drifting currents, featuring multiple layers of archaic sounds, foggy, nebulous textures, and ritual invocations, perfectly combined to form a release of intense depth and complexity. Must certainly rank among the finest dark ambient records released in the history of Malignant. In elegant 4 panel digipak. [press-release]

V/A -- "Pere Lachaise" -- CD -- €12
2006 Steinklang Industries, SKD 19 / Divine Comedy, DC045, (ltd. 500)
A great compilation of dark and neoclassical music, dedicated to Père-Lachaise cemetery, which is one of the most romantic and mysterious places in this holy world. It's also an unmissable reference in gloomy and cinematic "tragical" culture. Together, Steinklang & Divine Comedy Records are producing a tribute to this worldwide and legendary atmospheric icon. This musical journey is depicted by four top bands (with two tracks each) from the new emerging Dark-Ambiant and Neo-Symphonic scene: HOROLOGIUM; PROJECT WINTER and ARTEFACTUM from Poland completed by FOUNDATION HOPE from the Netherlands. The mood is dark, menacing and epic at time with Horologium being the most martial act. "Paradise One" symbolises a passage from life to death surrounded by fading memories from different areas and destinies. The CD is packed in a beautiful book with full pages sepia pictures by Fabrice Billard, known for his previous pictures and illustrations for DCR releases and bands such as Sonne Hagal. Art and history beyond the graves. Père-Lachaise is a feeric and beautiful place. A place you'll need a whole existence to know "tous les coins et recoins". [press-release]
