Sister Loolomie is one of the offspring of [S]ergey (or just [S]), a musician from Moscow region, known for his projects Exit In Grey, Five Elements Music and some others, as well as for his labels Still*Sleep and Semperflorens. The musical style of [S] is notable for its delicate and gentle approach to sound, the keywords for its definition are: ambient / drone / experimental / electroacoustic. In Sister Loolomie [S] utilizes deliberate sonic "digitalizing" and at the same time manages to keep the warmth and cosiness of sound in his own way, resembling tape drone music.

[S]ergey uses guitar, electronics, radio and computer processing in creating his soundscapes, both abstract and sensuous at the same time. The compositions move calmly and slowly, sound loops draw in attention like spirals and dissolve it in their textures. Shivery signal waves and soft generated rasp form an aerial atmosphere, in which crackle the discharges of digital interference, and bright yet slightly melancholic melodies bring serenity and tender contemplative sadness.

The project i.m.m.u.r.e. is a part of St. Petersburg based musical foundation Forbidden Sounds Group and "The New Circle" is its first release on physical media. Before this the project successfully performed live several times and released a number of recordings on the net-label DNA Productions. The music of i.m.m.u.r.e. combines serious dark ambient, rhythmic electronics and psychedelic industrial in vein of English school a la Coil. It is full of gloomy melodies, light noises and sonic experiments, and is flavoured with morbid vocals narrating about infinite love to the dog and other schizophrenic joys of life. Part of the compositions from the album appeared to the author in his dreams. A nice soundtrack for an introspective pastime.

Muzyka Voln in cooperation with the Moscow label Monopoly Records and the Voronezh label Shadowplay Records presents the solo album of one of Cyclotimia members - Sphere Rex.

The word "ambient" came into the musical culture after the same-name solo album of Brian Eno, a member of the British art rock band Roxy Music. Legend has it that the musician was in the hospital and had nothing to do but to listen to the noises behind the window, and so he noticed a certain structure and musicality which he later started to imitate with the use of tapes and musical instruments.

Of course Eno wasn't the one who discovered this music style first, as before him the ideas of "background music" were developed by the French composer Erik Satie, and the concept of "the art of noises" was stated by the Italian futurist Luigi Russolo. However it was Eno who recorded in the 70s a series of albums with compositions which, so to say, laid the foundation of all contemporary ambient music in its boundless variety: from inelaborate "new age" to club "chill out" to harsh and experimental "dark/drone ambient".

Sphere Rex plays ambient in this uncommon for today traditional vein, combining minimalism and "background"-style of electronic music a la Brian Eno and piano improvisations based on proto-ambient ideas of Erik Satie. This music is able to calm down and lull to sleep like alpha-wave rhythms or paint weird images guided by the surreal titles of compositions in one's imagination. For the goals of complete authenticity only analogue devices were used in recordings, as well as tube preamps and compressors from 60s-70s.

IV. NEW ITEMS IN MAILORDER CATALOGUE

CD-R/CD

A Challenge Of Honour -- "No Way Out" -- CD -- €14
2008 Vrihaspati Recordings, VR013

Alisa-Yhtye -- "s/t" -- CD-R -- €9
2009 Triangle Records, [TR042], (ltd. 100)
Grigory Avrorin makes noise since 1997. He started in a band TALONOV NET, and after it's breakup continued to improve his skills in heir band TEA MAN WITH TEA GUM. Later there were such projects as SOVIET SEX MACHINES, MONOPOLKA and some more. In the last years Avrorin paid more attention to his solo work. His noise researches are presented to the audience under various titles, the most known of them are GRA, FREDRIKSON, CHELOVEK V SHTANAH, FON-BARON, DOKTOR KINCHEV, NOISE WENDY, ALISA-YHTYE, HUREN AQUARIUM, VIOLINIST IN ASSHOLE, G. Avrorin. Most of his works have their own recognisable sound, namely dirty, disharmonic and aurally disgusting. ALISA-YHTYE is not an exception and represents junk industrial mixed with scrap noise. Nevertheless it sounds very noble and traditional, the listener immediately feels the atmosphere of late 80-s - early 90-s. Sluggish hardly heard noise is interlaced with metal gritting and percussion. Feedback whistles quietly, and G. Avrorin leisurely emits another cloud of cigarrete smoke. Noble old school industrial noise. [press-release]

Der Blutharsch -- "Flying High!" -- CD -- €15
2009 WKN, WKN34
"Flying High!" with this psychedellic combat cry one of the most excentric and innovative projects from Austria / Vienna is returning. On their ninth studio album Der Blutharsch continues travelling in the direction they took back in 2005, when the former guru of martial industrial/military pop, Albin Julius, and his band, rocketed towards the deep space of psychedelia. One of the most controversial bands of the last decade staked its claim anew, totally breaking with old images, cliches and tunes. Starting already on the last album The Philosopher's Stone the turning to the walls of guitars and repetitive chants was already to recognize. Flying High turns this to a programmatic climax. If you start thinking on Sunn O))), Guru Guru, Amon Düül, Tangerine Dream or Godspeed You! Black Emperor you are not to far away, but still inherent is the big part of apocalyptic feeling which you are already used to. Highly influenced by the amercican West Coast Sound of the late sixties with a small dosis of that what some people use to call Krautrock. The tracks are slightly developing into eachother, ambient parts followed by ecstatic deathrock songs and then they glide into a wall of sound. The guestparts on the vocal side is full of well know artists: besides Bain Wolfkind and Albin Julius or Gianni Serusi, you discover 1980s legend Patrick Leagas who himself celebrates the title song in his typical distinctive manner. Flying High is a dark record, it mixes eros and deathwish, productivity with desctructivity. Since the release of, "When Did Wonderland End?", Der Blutharsch have mutated into a psychedelic rock monster; their motto, "into new territories!", symbolic for this mutation, a battle fought not by marching but by flying, 'Flying high!'. Flying high! is a weird trip for blown minds through the dark worlds of today's society, passing love, hate and lust during its journey into the center of the sun! The CD comes in a stunning foilblocked, painted with glowing in the dark ink, digipack, covered up in a need designed folder. [press-release]

Nord'n'Commander -- "Maps Of The Shadow' Travelling" -- CD -- €9
2008 Casus Belli Musica, CBM 001CD, (ltd. 1000)
Many ancient philosophers taught that our world was only a shade and a shape in respect of the Real World. But thirst for this Perfect World requires permanent development of attention exactly to ... a shadow. Just as a bridge to the Superior the NORD'N'COMMANDER members realize the word "shadow" and offer us their maps, their plan of What Veritable Intention prefers. The album "Maps Of The Shadow' Travelling" (2003) has taken over from the album "Heavenly Barrow" (2002) some stylistic features. Cold, "gothic" vocals and keyboards in combination with "industrial" guitars and drums are also present here. But there is something that makes this album related to "Sacred Spear Aftersounds" (2001) too: namely, interest in archaic Indo-European harmonies. So the style of the album may be called approximately as "gothic / folk / electro". Curiosity for a Shadow, which the NORD'N'COMMANDER members have displayed, is expressed in the fact that musical and poetical images, metaphors and symbols are flowing freely and easily. The symbols are being transfused out of serious philosophical constructions into human (sometimes over-human) psychological praxis and even mental moods. It's just an atlas of shadows sui generis. But remember that Shades and the Superior are joined. Listen to them!.. [press-release]

Rapoon -- "Dark Rivers" -- CD -- €13
2009 Lens Records, LENS0102
Dark Rivers is the sonic exploration and reflection of a particular stretch of landscape in the north of England. This is the home of Rapoon’s Robin Storey and it is an essential part of who he is. "Dark Rivers is about a particular area in the North of England which stretches from the Solway Firth into the wastelands of the Northumbrian borders. This area is steeped in history and mystery. In particular, I have focused on the development of Britain's Cold War intercontinental ballistic missile weaponry in the late forties and fifties and which later became the center for Britain's space efforts. The idea that these top secret research bases were sited here is one of interest in itself. The area is historically renowned for its outlaws and geographical and political marginalism. Geographically, this is where the Roman Empire stopped and long before that this is an area that has the highest count of pre-historic rock glyphs anywhere in the world. Many of the place names reflect the ancient cultural beliefs and superstitions - Black Fell, Black Beck, etc. Even today the place is wild and remote and old superstitions live on. The conflict of the ancient superstitions and the cold war paranoia is essentially what this is about. The older superstitions swallowing whole the newer age which came and went on the same dark, brooding hills. I was lucky enough to be born and grow up here and the darkness of the place is embedded deeply inside me." [press-release]

2009 Vetvei, V07, (ltd. 484)
Mighty archaic dark ambient woven by two Russian projects with field recordings, voices and acoustic instruments. A very powerful work in this genre. "Vetvei label presented its first CD release, a collaboration of two congenial projects dedicated to the Symbols of Creative Roration. A retrospective journey by the bird through smells of melting herb songs and contemplations of the mysteries of Life. They are flowed away by Water, from the Ice to the boundless lakes dancing in mosses. Following to the Forge of Earth, walking the dense forests, winds and marshes, meeting the Heart Guardians. All the cycles of nature follow each other, Fire goes to Water and Earth goes to Heaven. Cosmos swaddle the birds flying toward dawn. All invocations in the name of Life. Many praising voices of people and animals merged into a rhythm that glorify the Natural Order, eternal and endless. Field recorgings, woodwinds, strings, percussions and drums, voices, tape noises and electronics was used in this work. They're all merged into a single timeless canvas. Spirit of every living thing awakening runs through it. An atmosphere of Ritual crossed with cosmic primordial Drone Ambient. One of the important parts of this release is design - 7"EP 6-panel cardboard envelope covered with the signs of Vetvei. Standing in awe of Majesty and experience of true Beauty. V/A -- "Thalamus III" -- 2 CD-R -- €10
2009 kultFRONT, KF-XII, (ltd. 222)
KultFRONT has dipped its hands into the musical bins of the post-industrial past, and drew out of there the unreleased recordings or the projects participated in THALAMUS III fest. Four years have passed since that time. The creative direction of many musicians has changed beyond recognition, and that's why we feel enthusiastic to 'remember' and understand something which is already past and yet unknown... The 'deja vu release' THALAMUS III is a kind of mirror in which one can see himself through the prism of 10 compositions. This set for the soul is just as stylistically varied as any other compilation from KultFRONT. Presented music ranges from pacificating ambient to totally sizzling noise. The release is split in 2 parts, each represented by same set of musicians. After the first musical cascade you're suggested to have a sort of "sonic flashback". Like in any other situation, this comeback to the traversed orbit may be even more fascinating than the debut travel... Let's remind that THALAMUS III fest featured: Alexei Borisov, Bardoseneticcube, DMT, Neizvestnost', Ganzer, 1g0g & Anna Zhurko, Govorit Radio Kosmos. The compilation consists of compositions going in the same order as it happened on stage... To the material rarities lovers and those who attended the festival we recommend to buy the first 50 copies of this small edition. There you will find the original posters of the fest THALAMUS III. To keep the deja vu state these discs also contain important 'wastepaper' with post-festival feelings of it's creators. [press-release]

V/A -- "Govnoise" -- MC -- €6

The main thing about this cassette is that it was duplicated with maximum record level from a scratchy CDR, as a result some of participants sound worse, and others better than it was on the master. The cassette contains 2 tracks of Alisa-Yhtye, cut-up noises from Samomma Masomma (the author made noise for the first and last time in his life, completely acoustic noises of mobile phone scratched against surfaces), 8-bit mini-album from Red Pillow (Krasnaya Podushka) - everything is mixed without any order with lots of attendant audio-junk, and the tape ends with the material from Wolfvomit, a project of S. Hanolainen (Maaaa) with crusters from Petrozavodsk - shitty distorted metal. [YAOP]

Genocide Organ -- "Live in Japan 2003/2007" -- DVD/CD -- €19
2009 Tesco Organisation, TESCO 077 / Teito Sound Company, TEITO-010
Japan has been a wasteland for German "industrial" and/or "power electronics" bands for many years, but in 2003, Genocide Organ entered the motherland of noise. Invited by Teito and MSBR, Genocide Organ played two remarkable shows in Tokyo. The first in a typical noise/hardcore club called 20000V, and the second at a small theatre called Die Pratze. Because of the two different locations and atmospheres, G.O. prepared two completely different sets. While the material at 20000V featured tracks from what was, at the time, the forthcoming album "In-Konflikt," plus a selection of powerful, well-known tracks, the setlist at Die Pratze featured more "calm" and unreleased tracks integrated into a theatrical-type performance. Both gigs represent the repertoire of Genocide Organ, which makes this band more than just a phenomenon of one genre. The two shows are presented here on DVD in their entirety, edited from three different camera angles by Frank Merten of SWT, known for the visuals of Herbst9 and Land:Fire. The DVD is professionally mastered and features a fully animated menu. In 2007, Genocide Organ returned to Tokyo for two more shows, both hosted at 20000V, and again, each show had a different setlist. The audio CD in this collection features a selection of the best tracks from both evenings. Many had never been released or played live before, while some "old favorites" appear here in completely different versions. The quality of the recording is amazing, and you will feel the full power of these two gigs. [press-release]

Allerseelen -- "Abenteuerliches Herz" -- CD -- €14
Aorta, AORCD07
"Abenteuerliches Herz is a great album. Raw, powerful and complex. It is very exciting to see someone take the neo-folk music genre and completely redefine and broaden its scope. To see an artist infuse this genre with so many diverse musical approaches and infuse it with Mediterranean flavor has been a very unique and enjoyable experience. Allerseelen’s Abenteuerliches Herz truly stands out as an original and innovative release. I highly recommend this album to everyone. The music is very approachable and seductive. Faeries coming from many different music scenes will find both something familiar and something new in this music. All of the songs lyrical content is poetically esoteric and open to interpretation. The music is also good just for the experience. If you love innovative music that is redefining limits and boundaries you have to get Abenteuerliches Herz!" [Malahki Thorn, Heathen Harvest]

Allerseelen -- "Archaische Arbeiten" -- 2 LP -- €20
2003 Ahnstern, Ahnstern 1, (ltd. 600)

Allerseelen -- "Edelweiss" -- CD -- €13
Aorta, AORCD11
This outstanding collection of newer musical works of the Austrian artist ALLERSEELEN is a co-production of AHNSTERN and Allerseelen's own label AORTA. the 74 minute CD in luxurious 6-side digipack contains a selection of the best ALLERSEELEN songs, many of them for the first time on CD. also some unreleased Industrial-Folk hymns will give pleasure to the listener's ears. at a bigger part of the songs, ALLERSEELEN was supportet by guest-musicians: Demian (O PARADIS), Rosa (CIRCE), Gaya (HAGSHADOW), JOSEF and Herr Percht (STURMPERCHT) help to give this album a very special touch. [label info]

Allerseelen -- "Flamme" -- CD -- €14
2003 Aorta, AORCD10
"Apocalyptic folklore magnetico pop.. The music on these two records is warm and sensual with apocalyptic pop, folklore magic and flamenco magnetico. Fine catchy melodies, infectious groovy rhythms, a lot of joie de vivre ambiance, lovely strings and a varied musical menu. Accessible and original at the same time. There are no weak moments. Some of my favourite songs are the sing-along 'Sonne golthi-ade (Josef)', the intimate classical songs 'Ob auch mein Herz so funkelt' and the almost Latin 'Sturmlied'. On the album even a DAF cover is present: 'Als wars das letzte Mal '.?"Flamme" sparks with the lovely choral 'Kamerad', the cheerful 'Lowin', the irrestible dancehit 'Goldener Lebenswein', the mysterious 'Knistern'... With this record the temperatures are rising again..." [funprox.com]

Allerseelen -- "Hallstatt" -- CD -- €14
2007 Aorta, AORCD12
The Allerseelen CD Hallstatt contains thirteen brand-new apocalyptic and passionate songs about love and death. This release - musically situated somewhere in a terra incognita between folklore, krautrock, metal and industrial music - is inspired by the beautiful Upper Austrian village Hallstatt which belongs to the world cultural heritage due to its amazing tomb findings of the Hallstatt culture and the unique ossuary with the painted skulls. The songs have lyrics and vocals by Gerhard Petak and R.N. Taylor from Changes. [label info]

Allerseelen -- "Neuschwabenland" -- CD -- €14
Aorta, AORCD05
"It is not only the packaging that possesses the texture of ice. A shimmering world of subterranean glacial caverns. One's consciousness is mesmerised by siren-like strings and metallic chimes, that glisten like frozen stalactites in this palace of ice. Sophisticated upbeat numbers veering toward pop territory in terms of its melody and construction, gelid love-songs. The addition of string and brass sections imbues the whole with a sense of subdued tension which acts as the perfect vehicle for Kadmon's pondering, poetic lyrics. Backdrobs of pulsating bass, sweeping reverberations. Wonderfully expressive violins provide a respite from the cold. As always with Allerseelen, one is left feeling enthused and invigorated by a brilliant listening experience. With concepts and music of this quality, Kadmons looks set to remain at the forefront of cutting-edge sounds for years to come." [Judas Kiss zine]

Allerseelen -- "Stirb und Werde" -- CD -- €14
Aorta, AORCD04
"An Allerseelen CD is an event. A ritual. I have never been disappointed. I have never heard an Allerseelen piece that sounded weak, poorly done, or uncared for. Allerseelen represent a standard of excellence that is almost unheard of in the world today. Stirb und Werde is no exception. It refers to the journey of death and rebirth. The artwork is taken from photographs of the sanctuary Externsteine in Westphalia. The music follows a progression, beginning softly, and almost tentatively, like the first rays of sunlight on the horizon; and, like the sun, a few minutes after this CD has begun to arise, it becomes almost overwhelmingly brilliant. Stirb und Werde is a masterpiece of the Twentieth Century, and a sentinel of the Golden Age that must surely follow this modern world of darkness." [starvox.net]

Allerseelen -- "Venezia" -- CD -- €14
Aorta, AORCD06
Dedicated to Mediterranean culture and music, this album was inspired by the beautiful city of Venice, Italy. The albums music moves between powerful and rhythmic oriented tracks to soundtrack-type grooves, encompassing the decadent, inspired, hypnotic and surreal. Based on R.M.Rilke and inspired by Nietzsche and E.Pound. Lounge and downtempo industrial. [label info]

Anthesteria -- "I Killed" -- 3"CD-R -- €13
2004 self-released, (ltd. 90)
This mini-release contains one audio-track and its video version. Deeply emotional depressive blend of neoclassics and dark ambient. Video is taken from the documentary made in female prison. Disc is packed in cardboard sleeve with photo, a piece of aromatized cloth and child's face used as a number.

Arditi -- "Marching on to Victory" -- CD -- €14
2007 Equilibrium Music, EQM015
The original release of "Marching on to Victory" dates back to 2003, with a small pressing of 1000 copies on the obscure Swedish label Svartvintras. The legacy that one half of the project brought from his work with Puissance was fairly evident, yet the focus on his work as Arditi was not so much beautifuly orchestrated narrations of the apocalypse, but far grimmer depictions of the past centuries world conflicts. Field recordings and blurry speeches were incorporated into Arditi's compositions, adding a rather disturbing tone to the predominant military snare-drums, obscure symphonic arrangements and hypnotic soundscapes. The suffocating combination between martial classical arrangements and somber atmospheres would set Arditi's debut album as one of the bleakest releases on the Militaristic Neo-Classical movement that was starting to flourish at the time. "Marching on to Victory" is now made available again, in a deluxe Digipak release featuring 2 bonus tracks. [press release]

Asmorod -- "Hysope" -- CD -- €14
Steinklang Industries, SKD 12
A fascinating introspective deep ambient work that distinguished itself from the mass of uniformized dark ambient releases. Niiko (now the only member of Asmorod) used the word Hysope (French word for Hyssop) as a symbolism of spiritual purification. In ancient times, Hyssop was used for the cleansing of lepers (Leprosy may represent sin... but lepers were not necessarily sinful) and used for cleaning sacred places. It is alluded to in the Scriptures: 'Purge me with Hyssop, and I shall be clean' (Purify me from my sins, and i will be clean; wash me, and i will be whiter than snow. Psalms 51:7). Two tracks from that album feature choirs by eLL from Sui Generis Umbra. [press release]

Atrium Carceri -- "Cellblock" -- CD -- €13
2003 Cold Meat Industry, cmi125
With Atrium Carceri, composer Simon Heath releases his debut Cold Meat album with a theme from deep within isolated prison walls, haunted chambers and the cerebral cortex. With Cellblock, Simon Heath takes us on a journey through what darkwave should have been, filled with details and complex mixing techniques... With a classical music background and as a member in Za Frumi (Waerloga Records), Simon decided to make something new of the darkwave genre he always listened to in younger years, thus the project Atrium Carceri was born. Part of the idea behind it was to reinvent the genre of darkwave and inject it with intellect and atmosphere and remove the monotonous feeling... With the debut album, Atrium Carceri position themselves somewhere inbetween the exuberant sounds of CMI labelmate Sephiroth, and the subterranean rumblings of Loki Foundation stalwarts Inade and Predominance. Atrium Carceri -- "Kapnobatai" -- CD -- €13
2005 Cold Meat Industry, cmi148
Beyond the malignant jail cells and narrow asylum walls, our hidden tormentors laugh at us from a world of smoke and mirrors. Kapnobatai, the third installment from Atrium Carceri, ventures further still into the wretched world beyond the place we so resignedly inhabit, and into the sublimely unkown. Shattered yet enlightened we are thrust forcefully through the illusion of our making, to the ancient sprawling city that is the one true testament to human achievment. The visions of the Kapnobatai (those who walk in smoke) are seen, heard and felt in this genderbending and exquisitely detailed black ambient album from philosopher/visionaire/composer/artist Simon Heath. This is a place of ancient machines, rusty walls and whispered sighs. With lavish attention to detail this profound composition of the mind wrests the listener away from the mundane, perchance never to return. [press-release]

Atrium Carceri -- "Ptahil" -- CD -- €13
2007 Cold Meat Industry, cmi168
The fourth album from composer Simon Heath (Sweden) ventures beyond the vestiges of your mortality, granting a fleeting glance at the world beyond the veil. As ever, Simon has reinvented the genre as well as himself with a unique ambience created from his ever-increasingly complex and obscure techniques of mental dissolution and musical innovation. Atrium Carceri emerges from the vapours with yet another stunning release entitled Ptahil (fetahil). The obsidian citadel stands stoic, its forceful gaze forever over streets running rampant with the councils bidders, while the citadel of glass attracts the mindless reincarnates grasping at anything physical while their memories slowly burn away in the womb of their eternal home. The comforts of quiet lives forever washed away by a miasmic tidal wave of necrotic flesh, sagging, protean forms and the chill of the grave. This is a place where steel rusts and is forgotten, where flesh and the fleeting forms it inhabits are forever changed. Ptahil sees all, and forgets naught. Let your mind be stripped to the pulpy, undulating core with this darkened voyage into domains both dreadful and serenely beautiful. [press-release]

Atrium Carceri -- "Seishinbyouin" -- CD -- €13
2004 Cold Meat Industry, cmi133
Seishinbyouin is the second album from Atrium Carceri, and drags the listener on a violent journey through haunted mental asylums, ripe with the cries of the lost and the damned. Rotting jailcells, past insanity and the crumbling domes of the other side are a few of the many eerily twisted images that this evocative music compels. There is a constant dark majesty that forcefully propels the message of inevitability: The colorful illusion people spend most of their lives in is fragile as a rose petal, and just as easily shattered in Seishinbyouin. With brilliant use of the full spectrum of dystopia, this will surely leave no one unscathed. The album is filled with dark ambient soundscapes, haunting symphonic intensities and engulfing atmospheres that let you get inside the twisted psyche of the total other. One can but wonder at the twisted mind of the tortured soul that made this vision spring to ghastly unlife. [press-release]

Atrium Carceri -- "Souyuan" -- CD -- €13
2008 Cold Meat Industry, cmi189
3 years in the making, Atrium Carceri is back with another visceral masterpiece entitled Souyuan. After careful psychological observeration of test listeners, Simon Heath has done it again - renewing the genre through careful planning and painstaking attention to each fragment and detail, however minute. With fresh atmospheres, and a depth previously unfathomable, Souyuan will amaze initiates and pundits alike with its complexity and pureness of form. Never before has the artists innermost recesses been so sublimely conveyed to any medium... Simon, born in 1977, started producing when he early on played around with his Amiga and a microphone. In the years that have followed, Simon got involved in numerous projects and developed his knowledge and skills. During the process and through the years, he has been part of writing 16 albums and additionally many other tracks on compilations and other albums, released under various names, touching a broad range of ambient, dub, IDM, psy, folk, medieval, classical and black ambient. Simon is known for having reached a very high level both in story telling and production technique... Atrium Carceri has been praised by music critics and embraced by a cult audience for its depth of atmosphere. As described by one reviewer, "Heath creates a world where time collapses, where the ancient world of conjured spirits, the physical limitations of being all too human, and the infinite outreach of potential futuretech, all coexist." Bardoseneticcube -- "Necklace" -- CD -- €14
Athanor, ATNR 012
Originally released as a CDR on Black Dead Rabbit limited to 100 copies, this was considered by us as one of the most important "dark ambiant" recording we have heard since Lustmord's The Place Where the Black Stars Hangs that we decided to release it as a proper remastered CD. The sound is not the usual dark ambiant type of keyboards too often heard but real innovative and captivating soundscapes with pulsating spiral of sound like if it was a Solar winds soundtrack. In itself it goes beyond dark ambiant and this is one of our favorite Athanor release since the begining of the label! [label info]

Brighter Death Now -- "May All Be Dead" -- CD -- €14
1999 Cold Meat Industry, CMI.67
May All Be Dead sets a new standard for cultural terrorism, as well as marking a new milestone in the Industrial history. It is not a follow-up to any previous album, as the concept for this album arised already in 1996. The music has been in a state of deconstruction ever since, and the album was realized in an atmosphere of Violence, Anarchy, Chaos and Love. Cover is designed as a tribute to the erector of Brighter Death Now, Roger Karmanik's teen-idols CRASS. [label info]

Desiderii Marginis -- "Deadbeat" -- CD -- €13
2001 Cold Meat Industry, CMI.86
Mjölby: hick town, epicentre of Swedish counter-culture, a power-plant transmitting anti-art currents over the national grid. Home of the legendary deathseekers Brighter Death Now, of the infamous scatologist Raison d'Etre, and not least of the decadence afficionado Desiderii Marginis. 'Deadbeat' is Desiderii Marginis' magnum opus, a bewitching tale from a midwintery Sweden veiled in darkness, firmly maintaining their ranking among the upper crust of the Mjölby avantgarde. Listening to Desiderii Marginis is like travelling in time, back to the days when you first discovered CMI and instantly became enchanted. By watching and learning from old mages like Raison d'etre and Morthound, Johan Levin has aggregated different styles, but eventually the music is still distinguished by his highly personal touch. Close your eyes, and find yourself moved to desolate windswept forests - where mist lingers around leafless branches, moonbeams just barely break through, and distant howls both entice and frighten. These are emotions so familiar and so novel at the same time, evoked by classic CMI material that both looks back and points forward. [label info]

Desiderii Marginis -- "Seven Sorrows" -- CD -- €13
2007 Cold Meat Industry, cmi173, (ltd. 2000)
Seven Sorrows is the sixth album by the renowned swedish dark-ambient project Desiderii Marginis, and a most eagerly awaited follower to the highly acclaimed album of 2005, That Which Is Tragic And Timeless. With the material on Seven Sorrows Johan Levin, the mind behind Desiderii Marginis, has dug deeper than ever before within the creative depths and so ventures even further into the darklands of dispair and solitude, deeper into the vibrant shadows of the human mind. Since the very debute in 1993, Desiderii Marginis has, with every new offering, refined and reinvented the trademark sound, and this release is no exception to the rule. Strummed guitars and dulcimers blend seamlessly with soaring strings, raging drones, the sound of twisted metal and spoken word. Diverse sources, yet tamed to an intriguing and alluring whole that slowly spin it’s web around the helpless listener and drags them into the vortex of dreamlike darkness. First 2000 copies in a 6-panel digipak, artwork photos taken by the exceptional photographer Birthe Klementowski. [press-release]

Desiderii Marginis -- "Songs over Ruins" -- CD -- €13
1997/2001 Cold Meat Industry, CMI.56, 2nd ed.
The tune of a little bell overlaid by strange voices seemingly far away. Melodic atmospheric ambient sounds, one piece with straight rythms, the other very slow and quiet like musical description of a tree without its leaves, haveing cold and waiting for spring that never comes... [label info]

Desiderii Marginis -- "Strife" -- CD -- €13
2004 Cold Meat Industry, cmi131
’Strife’ is, as the name implies, a sort of reflection over the rather pityful human desire to engage in all kinds of conflict. Everywhere and always. There is admittedly a healthy aspect of conflict or competition – the clash of ideas, ideologies, opinions and the like. But often strife takes the form of mere pointless destruction for no purpose. That particular lack of meaning is what this album is all about. ’War is a continuation of politics’ von Clausewitz wrote in the 1830’s. But if there’s no political visions to realize, no higher goal to pursue, no new beginning, no rebirth, then what? Guns go silent only to discover that nothing has really been accomplished. Old structures of injustice remain, recent conflicts are added to old ones. Does this sound depressing? I think it is. The music on this album is not intended to sound like the blazing guns of a world at war. It is what it is simply because these kind of thoughts went through my head as the music was made. I have had no ambition to address any particular issue, I’m definitely not trying to promote, or badmouth, any political or ideological points of view. Politics are firmly rooted in the present. Strife itself is eternal. The music is, as always, a strictly personal way to deal with and express the ever present madness of man. Nothing changes, everything is new... [label info]

Foundation Hope -- "Tunes for the Wounded" -- CD -- €14
2008 Cold Meat Industry, cmi177
‘Tunes for the wounded’ can be considered a lament. It is a defamatory accusation to the world and it’s suffering. Foundation hope lodges complaints through gritty ambient-industrial structures, broken sounds and despairing moods. Always without losing touch with the beautiful and melodic. Always with that tiny bright spark of hope, overshadowed by doubt and cynicism. This successor to ‘The faded reveries’ is a little more harsh. Incorporated are distorted guitar drones, tape-decks, broken strings and noisy outbursts. Firmly rooted in reality, this is tears dropping slowly, a herd crawling through mud and blood, and a call to a redeemer who isn’t there. [label info]

Genocide Organ -- "Remember" -- 2 CD -- €18
1997/2007 Tesco Organisation, TESCO 067
The 10th birthday of "Remember" sees the re-release, containing an extra of 50 minutes live material. Total Time: 139min.! Kriminaaliset Metsanhaltijat -- "s/t" -- MC -- €6

Kriminaaliset Metsanhaltijat -- "Finlandia" -- MC -- €6
2008 Triangle, TR-35, (ltd. 50)
The only recording of this project made in a professional studio. This recording was made for one of the leading post-industrial labels, but by common agreement the material was not released. Ten years later the band decided to publish some of the materials from that record-session. In 2007 it was remastered, mainly the vocal parts. Here are used the field recordings, settled in Southern Finland and Mourmansk region of Russia, analogue syths, drum-machine and sound-processing units. Exceptionally warm sound. Musically it differs a lot from the other works of this project and presents industrial power ambient with influences from SPK from industrial and Inade from ambient. Hypnotic bursts of industrial rumbles, sythesizer ambient buzz, live concrete sounds and mysterious vocals. [press-release]

Mortart -- "This World So Beauteful As Formerly" -- CD-R -- €8
Imbecil Records 010
"Although Russian projects didn't manage to go down in history of 'indusrial culture', they confidently take their niche in post-industrial existence. In this relation Mortart is obviously the one who consolidates the foundation of modern industrialism; sounding from total obscurity he is one of the few whose truth and honesty is without doubt. His debut album "World Downfall" caught the attention with its dark beauty and interesting studio moments, for example for this recording was invited Marina Kurasova, the leader of Rostov's division of National-Bolshevist Party. Nowadays Mortart has about a dozen of releases on his own label Imbecil Records, and the project found its trademark sound... As far as we already can speak about 'influences' and 'inspiration sources' in 'post-industrial culture', first of all we have to mention the visible facts of 'where his legs grow from': obviously early BDN, then MEGAPTERA, MZ.412 and ARCHON SATANI. Hence the style of the project can be described as morose blend of death industrial and dark ambient. Main stimulant images-themes are also comparable to mentioned bands: misanthropy, Death as the only aim, anti-christianity (but not Satanism!!!), sexual violence, dissection, serial killers. Nevertheless one can feel Mortart's 'south-Russian' accent: compositions sound especially unhurry and criminal aura of the city he lives in adds subconscious spite and doom..." This new chapter "Crossing the withered Regions" is the journey thru wasted "regions" of our inner self, withered by our doubts, thoughts and fear about the end. This is the soundtrack to the world we live and experience at the very present. This is utterly dark! and there is certainly no sun in the horizon. Slit your wrists and float away... The CD is an enhanced CD with a special video-track and comes in a 6-panel digipak. [press-release]

Raison d'Etre -- "Metamorphyses" -- CD -- €13
2006 Cold Meat Industry, cmi158
Transformation is the key to the psyche. Breath and feeling intertwined is the given links for the search of inner wisdom and to unlock the hidden inside us. _Metamorphyses_ is a journey into the deep inner; a drama of the sublime and trancendental transformation of the psyche through a katabasis ritual of six transitional stages into a final completion. _Metamorphyses_ is a key to the psyche. Hypnotic, introspective and yet more difficult. As the seventh fullenght album from raison d_etre _Metamorphyses_ is in many aspects different from previous works by Peter Andersson. The organic flow and the use of drones has been extended creating a varied output of both calm/meditative and harsh/intense sound structures. The transformation in sound is also present in the feelings; demanding, tempting and deceptive are only a few elements that characterize the ordeal the listener has to withstand. [press-release]

ROME -- "Flowers From Exile" -- CD -- €14
2009 [Trisol] Music Group GmbH, TRI 362 CD
Into the heart… With ‘Flowers from Exile’, the Luxembourgish folk formation ROME surpass their work to date, which already includes three full-length albums in just a few years. Just as early releases were apocalyptic and aggressive in nature, the expressionistically-tinged CD ‘Masse Mensch Material’ (2008) could be said to have a revealed inner vision. ROME’s universe was expanded by proud resignation and sweet melancholy... The latest album, ‘Flowers from Exile’ (2009) goes a step further in this direction. Similar to the early albums of the legendary songwriter Leonard Cohen, stories from the (inner) exile are told here with fatalistic gestures and dark timbre; of the longing for a lost homeland, of loneliness and eternal travels, but also of unexpected friends far away and the actual homeland in your own heart. Songs such as ‘The Secret Sons of Europe’ or ‘To Die Among Strangers’ (which was previously released as a CD single) form a song cycle full of metaphors for estrangement – the poetry of longing. Highly detailed arrangements use the sound of the flamenco guitar as well as mysterious samples, pulsating beats and sad melodies. In ROME’s songs there lives a stoic sense of the melodramatic. As well as Cohen, one must look to icons such as Tom Waits and late Johnny Cash in order to be able to describe the lyrics and voice of Jerome Reuter... ‘Flowers from Exile’ is just as much an emotional as a critical work. The personally stamped album of a modern singer-songwriter which tells of journeys both within and without. Jerome Reuter’s moving vocals and Patrick Damiani’s complex musical arrangements leave the musical roots of folk far behind and send these ‘flowers from exile’ to all listeners who are willing and capable of feeling the dignity, the hope and the pride behind the lyrics and who are prepared to recognise themselves in those restless spirits whom the twelve part song cycle conjures up. Into the heart… [press-release]

Seelenthron -- "Wege" -- CD -- €14
2007 Heimatfolk, HF 01
After their outstanding debut-album "Heimkehr" and the CD-single "Steingeworden", finally appears now the second fulltime-album of the two former DIES NATALIS protagonists Norbert Strahl and Alex Meier. "Wege" is a classical Neo-Folk album in best tradition. Some songs mirror a sad, sometimes even gloomy picture of the world inside and outside of ourselves, other songs are just filigree Folk-balads, as beautiful and dreamy as one could imagine. Nevertheless all nine songs always stand strong and powerful, showing a path to the listener, never to turn back and never to lose his courage. Martial rhythms drum stirringly to neoclassical compositions, united with impassionate piano- and guitarplaying and electronic sounds. The challenging lyrics on "Wege" deal with the stages in one's life, our path through time and the questions for the meaning and the purpose of life. 9 tracks / 40 Min. [press-release]

Svarrogh -- "Balkan Renaissance" -- CD -- €14
2007 Ahnstern, Ahnstern24, (ltd. 500)
The Bulgarian Black Folklore ensemble Svarrogh of Dimo Dimov has recorded another masterpiece of Ritual Folk music. "Balkan Renaissance" is already the 4th Svarrogh album under the banner of the God of the Sun. This mystic sound-journey drags you along to the ancient heart of the Balkan mountains, its caves, rivers, villages and people with their deep mythological roots. Svarrogh's sound is absolutely unique, not only because of the beautiful mandoline-playing and the bagpipes, mixed with droning synths, which envocate the return of the Sun. Svarrogh creates a musical look through a grey window to discover the dark past of Bulgaria's 19th century and its Renaissance, after years of Osman opression. On "Balkan Renaissance" you can listen to original passages of famous Bulgarian poets and artists like Dora Gabe, Elisaveta Bagryan, Elin Pelin, Dimitar Talev or the amazing poems of Ivan Vazov. On this album, Dimo Dimov also pays a tribute to the genious music of Allerseelen with the song "Kamerad". And as a special feature, the CD will also contain a so called Martenitsi. Martenitsa is a Bulgarian heathen/pagan tradition related to March 1, which has its origin in the establishment of the Bulgarian state in 681 AD. Mart is the Bulgarian word for "March". According to Bulgarian folklore, the month March marks the beginning of springtime. Therefore, the first day of March is a traditional holiday associated with sending off the winter and welcoming the spring. Key-figures in these ancient traditional rites are the Kukeri, the demons who banish winter and invite spring and fertility. The Kukeri are the Balkan counterpart to the Austrian and south Bavarian Perchten. This album is full of traditional-, pagan- and ritual Folk music, Neo-Classical songs, Martial drummings and it has even some Industrial moments. [press release]

Toy reed streams, mutilated vocals and groovy loops of animal noise are some of the colours used to create the whirling mess that is the lonely song of Tomutonttu. It is like a confusing detail of the Kemialliset Ystävät freedom flow, a microcosmos of strange sound creatures and dirt flying around in the stereo space and interacting with a logic all of their own. On "333" the band plays a large variety of acoustic instruments, like several different guitars, bass, violins, flutes, drums, didgeridoo,... as well as a few beautiful electronic arrangements. Werkraum -- "Early Love Music" -- CD -- €14
2008 Ahnstern, Ahnstern23
14 progressive & traditional, psychedelic & medieval folk songs and chants of Early Love. 14 dreamy memories of the merry blue days from Early Times. Together with friends of the groups CHANGES, LADY MORPHIA and STURMPERCHT. "Early Love Music" is not just a Folk album. "Early Love Music" is a quantum leap for the new Folk generation of the third millennium and an enhanced assortment of early and new Folk-styles. Progressive- and Psychedelic Folksongs mix up and alternate with British and German traditionals in the vein of early Donovan (HMS), Spirogyra, Shirley Collins, Mellow Candle, Ougenweide,... just to name a few. Some songs even have a songwriter-like character, as if they were played somewhen in the mid 60ies in a dark Britanny forest by a suicidal Jackson C.Frank or Shawn Phillips. The complex arrangements and large variety of instruments even remind to The Incredible String Band and some early Acid-Folk bands. As a dot on the i, "Early Love Music" brings 2 coverversions of Donovan's ingenious fairytale "Jabberwocky" and Steeleye Span's traditional-hit "The Blacksmith". With "Song for Erik" Nicholas and Axel have created the sadest song ever sung, filling every father's eyes with a lake of tears. "Early Love Music" comes in a highest-quality 6-side-digipack with 16-page lyric-booklet. [label info]
