CD-R/CD

1g0g -- "Cover Me From Any Evil" -- CD-R -- €6
2008 New Orthodox Line, NoL+CD-R01, (ltd. 150)
Apocalyptic breath noise. 1g0g alias Gosha Solnzev – the composer of electronic music. His compositions often created from stylistically disparate musical elements are defined by specific composition of music space and by density of sound stream. The voices of turning machines, church singing or piping, drops of rain knocking against the metal roof, dog's barking, tree's whisper, howl of the wind, organ accords and any other sounds are changing in his hands enormously and serve as real-time source material for creating of giant acoustical constructions of very fanciful forms. [press-release]

Aa1 -- "Live at Electroline" -- CD-R -- €6
2007 Dars Records, DR10CD

Music is created in the course of a concert, live, from prerecorded soundbites and generated sounds. This CD is a recording of an improvised a concert at the first South Ural electronic music festival Electroline (Russia) in 2005. It's a 50-minute mix of sound-collaging, electroacoustics, ambient, and minimal noise. [label info]

Abandoned Child -- "Ascension" -- CD-R -- €7
2004 Deserted Factory, DF011
Ascension is the latest and most developed abandoned child release to date. The first of the disc's two sonic tapestries is a trip into the back roads and desolate plains of America. Here we find dark ambience meeting with bayou-esque guitars, radio static, noise, and real answering machine messages. The listener is taken on the path of one of the abducted, as seen through the eyes of a drifter. Haunting keyboards then float out into the main Trip of this epic, a 20+ minute hallucinogenic journey for pyschonauts and experimental pilots alike. At times rumbling from the far reaches of space, at others the skittering of millions of beetles in a sewer drain, Ascension twists and turns through 7 visions of godhead, flotin' through the ocean, and the city's filthy underground. If you like your music on the bizarre, transcendent, tripped out side: this is for you. Abandoned Child is the creation of the desolate one, also of recant. This is the first Abandoned Child release for Deserted Factory records. This release comes in beautiful full color artwork and professional jewel case packaging. [press-release]

Alio Die & Martina Galvagni -- "Eleusian Lullaby" -- CD -- €14
2008 Projekt, PRO00208
Eleusian Lullaby is a sensual ethereal-ambient collaboration between Italian soundsculptor Stefano Musso (aka Alio Die) and Italian singer Martina Galvagni. It is the third release in Projekt's series of Alio Die's vocal collaborations following 2001's Apsaras (with Amelia Cuni) and 2005's Mei-Jyu (with Jack or Jive). Eleusian Lullaby blends the natural, warm and earthy ambient compositions of Alio Die with the elegant, neo-classical voice of Martina, merging notes and silence into an expanded dreamscape. This is lullaby music like an aural caress from darkness into the light. The combination of the vocal melodies with the abstract qualities of the loops and instruments creates a suspended near-dream space, intimate and sensual at the same time. [label info]

Amon / Nimh -- "Sator" -- CD -- €12

SATOR is a granitic and majestic work, a musical journey through time and history that throws the listeners into the most remote abysses of Earth. Massive magmatic sounds mixed with the technologic and synthetic vibrations of oscillating sinewaves & with frosty isolationist timbres programmed through fluxes of information written in binary code… In digisleeve. ARC -- "Arkhangelsk" -- CD -- €11
2008 Epidemie Records, EPR 064, (ltd. 600)
ARC is a Canadian trio (Aidan Baker - guitars, flutes, tapeloops, Richard Baker - drumkit, percussion, & Christopher Kukiel - percussion) playing tribal guitar drone ambient with psychedelic and post – rock elements and very hypnotic sound. Their brand new album Arkhangelsk brings 4 compositions in 67 minutes and comes in nice 6 panels digisleeve and is limited on 600 copies. Arkhangelsk was recorded in Toronto, Canada in December 2007 in two separate sessions. The first consisted of improvisational performances on drumset and guitar and the second consisted of layering percussion, electronics, and woodwind tracks on those original drum/guitar tracks. Both sessions were done in real-time in single takes with a minimum of post-production editing or manipulation in an effort to capture the spontaneity of the performances. As such, Arkhangelsk maintains the typical ARC sound while simultaneously exploring more adventurous poly-rhythms and textures, combining influence/inspiration from such artists as Flyer Saucer Attack, The Boredoms, Tribes of Neurot, and Rapoon. Aube -- "Ambera Planeta Wawar" -- CD -- €11
2007 Autarkeia, acd 025
AUBE Ambera Planeta Wawar goldenCD was the first bootleg issued by AUTARKEIA label. However, after the author Akifumi Nakajima apologised to us for his "negligence“, the misunderstandings between AUTARKEIA and Akifumi were cleared out. In the meantime after the author recognised the bootleg, AUBE Ambera Planeta Wawar goldenCD has acquired a new status. This publication has become an official release of the project, while its previous concept (that of a bootleg) became meaningless. The exclusive record by the Japanese genius is based on excellent psychedelic ambient and the collages of extreme, structural noise music. The release is sold in an elegant digipack, which is probably the first in AUBE history. [press-release]

Bleiburg -- "Way Of Crosses" -- CD -- €11
2007 The Eastern Front, Front 009
Though only people themselves create History, they always prefer to re-write it afterwards, being horrified and embarrassed by what they have committed. But sometimes we must make bold to face the truth and to acknowledge the fact that we are guilty of what we made and that we are guilty towards History. And we must carry our own cross and pass our own way and once reach the Golgotha of our own conscience. 14 outstanding compositions of one of most enigmatic artists of German neo folk/industrial scene. 14 songs presented on this album were recorded in various years, composed in various styles and sung in various languages. Just truth stays invariable. "...The concepts of all the releases have a basic principle: history. It is important to read between the lines of global and personal history and not to believe all we read, hear, feel, see or are taught..." - from Cold Spring interview with Bleiburg. The Circular Ruins live from the Atmostreams web broadcast of June 2004. An alchemical mix of rhythms, ambience, and leads. The Circular Ruins -- "Empathy Test" -- CD -- €12
2003 Databloem, DBCD 005
Subtle ambient and groove-ambient innovations. This work is elegant and well done, and the artist knows just how much color and shading to use. Cuni, Amelia -- "Sings Dhrupad" -- CD -- €12
1998 Hic Sunt Leones, HSL 014
Master of dhrupad traditional indian chant present an exceptional performance live in Bombay. On this recording, Amelia Cuni presents two ragas, both of which, according to the time-theory of Indian music, are prescribed for early morning performance, and are associated with a devotional mood. They form a part of Amelia's single most brilliant concert appearance in India, which catapulted her into celebrity status. Ms. Cuni is recognised today as the finest non-Indian exponent of vocal music in the mideaval Dhrupad style, and probably the only significant Dhrupad vocalist amongst women anywhere. Ms. Cuni's achievement is exceptional because of her command over all the departments of the art form -- the grammar of the Raga melodic structures, the rhythmic disciplines, sensitivity to the literary content of the poetic form, and the distinctive technique of voice production with its demands on breath-control, lung-power, and tonal precision... D-Darkradioinduztrie -- "Appunti di Dolore Metropolitani" -- CD-R -- €7
2006 Deserted Factory, DF029, (ltd. 100)
This Italian (i guess?) artist is not familiar to me from before, despite the fact that he (?) seems to be making music with an experienced touch. Appunti di Dolore Metropolitani is music that could be best described as industrial compositions. The sound world is rough and distorted, but at the same time very musical, even melodic. On one side this reminds me of Bad Sector, but something in the cold and concrete feel is closer to Wilt. Opening track Paure che affiorano dalle tenebre.. fails to create any other impression than of the kind of sad droning soundscape that has already been heard enough times. The second track Note fra macchine meretrici.. manages to turn my head around completely with its beautiful melodies. The impression is something like very beautiful classical music was being played with an industrial music sound palette. This gives it the same charm that many russian industrial artists have (this should not be mixed with the kind of cliche melancholia represented by CMI at its worst). Unfortunately the record fails to bring another track of the same beauty, although it often comes close - especially on the ending track Canti delle madri e nuove battaglie industriali.. A promising name, worth getting to know especially for fans of genuinely emotional soundscapes a la Reutoff. [John Bjorkman / Kuolleen Musiikin Yhdistys]

D/O -- "Oneiric Traces" -- CD -- €18
2008 Projekt, PRO00208

DJ GOLUBb -- "Generation Of Bastards" -- CD -- €11
2008 Tesla, nT02
Great debut CD from a promising Russian newcomer. D.J. GOLUBb isn't a DJ as it would may seems - the name just means "Destroying Justice Dove" and he writes and plays his own music, being one of the favorite live acts on the Russian dark dancefloor. Many of this album tracks such as "Reason", "Beat Of God" or "ListenTi" are already well-established club hits here and the crowd is always active when they are playing. Musically it's a mix between dark electro patterns, trancey loops and catchy poppy melodies layered into thick danceable basslines and sometimes noisy straight beats. "Generation Of Bastards" could be a good break in-between listening to more harsh and dark noisy stuff - it gives some rest to the ears with its clear sound, still keeping the power and mood of true violent distorted beatz artifacts. And, sure, it's a good chance for a brutal noise lover to involve his tender girlfriend into his favorite music :) [press-release]

Donis -- "Alexandreia" -- CD -- €11
2007 Autarkeia, acd 018, (ltd. 500)
Donatas Bielkauskas - the man having keen ear, primeval curiosity, solid musical education and exquisite taste, who has released into the world the musical project DONIS (tribute in Prussian) - expands the space of creative quests with every new album until it transgresses this single regular cultural medium - music related with the tradition of Lithuanian ethnos, which he is the expert of. This time the artist has embarked on a new challenging journey, that is, to compose music revealing the unknown spirit of antiquity. His efforts have resulted in Alexandreia album that serves as a deep, pure and dreamy manifest to the ancient times. Tranquil, transparent and persuasive ambient stream prevails in the tracks. The archaic winds of different nations tastefully add to it in some of the tracks. These include hornpipe, bagpipes, mesmerising rhythms of tabor and mystifying bells. Soft and velvety voice of vocalist Alwyda, who has created the key vein of the album, opens the idealised femininity of the antiquity and conveys emotionally-charged world vision of genius Konstantin Kavafi where the Mediterranean past and present, the East and the West, the Greeks and the barbarians meet in the catharsis of profound sadness and wisdom, where the fall of civilisation witnessed in the vanishing cultural heritage is revealed. The Greek poetry recited in an enchanting voice and the ambient melting the words with elemental force embrace the audience who do not even know the archaic language. Alexandreia album will not disappoint the lovers of Dead Can Dance, Kameras 48, Raison D’etre music, either. [press-release]

2002 Ars Morta Universum, (ltd. 1000)
2002 album from the Slovakian Industrial / Noise legends, headed by Norg (VO.I.D.). Einleitungszeit -- "Die Infektion Der Geburt" -- CD -- €11
2008 Hirnlarm Laboratorium, Hirnlarm 09
The new Einleitungszeit album named „DIE INFEKTION DER GEBURT“ consists of 10 tracks with overall length of 68 minutes. This album frames very vivid material operating with industrial amplitudes of pulse noise and subliminal vibrations of thundering “hallucinatory ambient”. With its dramatically contrast structures and experimental sound work, the compositions on this album may rather evocate the sense of an avant-garde classical music piece. In contrast to their prior work, this Einleitungszeit album is specific with colourful sound texture and psychoactive atmosphere of “clinical leitmotiv”. As this is so far the most complex Einleitungszeit work, the album will be distributed in black-silver digipack. [press-release]

Einleitungszeit -- "Human Scrap: AnAtomic Prayer" -- CD -- €11
2004 Ars Morta Universum
Pounding, suffocating, looped noise rhythms. In my opinion probably the strongest release Einleitungszeit have ever committed to CD! 'Human Scrap' includes a very nice multimedia presentation containing a live photo library, lyrics, an interview in English / Slovakian and a video. Comes in handmade metal/board packaging bolted together, making this a fine release to get your hands on! [Cold Spring description]

Eyeless In Gaza -- "Summer Salt & Subway Sun" -- CD -- €12
2006 A-Scale Recordings, a-scale 033
The album neatly encapsulates two key aspects of the music Eyeless in Gaza are presently creating – offering a balance of atmos/acoustic material and sprawling, rhythmic/semi-improvised spidery electric pieces. This has resulted in a heady blend of song based material juxtaposed with a distinctive brand of kaleidoscopic, “cityscaping” filmic musics. Perhaps unsurprisingly, it is the latter, primarily instrumental pieces which gleefully reflect the band’s recent activity in cinema – in Patrice Chereau’s controversial Intimacy, and Jim Jarmusch collaborator Glen McQuaid’s poetic, sub Hammer short, The Resurrection Apprentice. After the plaudits attributed to the 25th Anniversary release of No Noise compilation (“They were one of the great bands that emerged (from the) post punk (period)” – Alan McGee) Eyeless In Gaza continue to display a characteristic “fierce independence” of style and attitude – with the release of Summer Salt & Subway Sun, issued via the band’s own A-Scale label...." Fire In The Head -- "Screams for the Mute" -- CD-R -- €7
2005 Deserted Factory, DF028, (ltd. 200)
To get some more information on an artist, it's always good to look at their website. And when it comes to Fire in the Head, we see an indication for what we are about to hear when we look at the links-section: Guilty Connector, Slogun, Sickness, Control, Skullflower/Ramleh, Grey Wolves/Open Wound & Survival Unit. Fire in the Head can be labelled harsh noise, a type of music definitly not for the weak. For as far as I know, most artists in the genre are from America and Asia, but in Europe it's also being produced more and more. The genre is a little bit less 'constructed' as power electronics, but what it lacks in structure is made up for in agression. Provided you can handle the sounds, you can play this album on repeat. Every time you notice new layers and new depth within the tracks and after a few rounds, the beaty really reveals itself. 'Watch And Burn' is a great droney track, while 'Playing God' and 'Floodgate' are way more opressive in nature ('Floodgate' actually hurts a bit). The masterpiece on this album is the final track 'Through Jaded Eyes'. It's a beautifully created noisescape with a melancholic feel. The CD isn't really accessible for a larger audience, but it is definitly worth buying for noise-addicts and maybe also people who want to try out something without beats, but with a lot of power. Gioventu' Suicida Studentesca -- "Lovely Happy Italy" -- CD-R -- €7
Deserted Factory, DF040, (ltd. 150)
What we have here is really good heavy electronics. Slow, quite minimalist, highly controlled. Already on the opening track, Man gave name to all animals it is obvious that this is high-level stuff: a grinding machine background, on top of it some pulsating notes and unclear, saturated vocals. Fine breaks and subtle build-up. And on occasion, some sampled pop low-key in the mix, too. The stylishly haunting Happy Italy continues on the same tightly steered course, building unto a screaming somewhere on the border between annoying and clever. The third track moves into a softer phase, almost to noise ambient, but the level of quality does not sink, nor does the overall mood change. There's still restrained screams, banging and other small things that make the main sound layer come alive. At the three-minute point the song suddenly lights up, with Inade-like melodic waves and female speech being added. This goes on a couple of minutes, after which there's a return to the earlier ambient-like style. The final track, I hate Everything, in turn starts as a combination of muted noise and an almost new-agey melody wave, and then increases the noise's emphasis in the mix. Lovely Happy Italy is a very successful short album, on which slow heavy electronics combine with beautiful noise-originating melodies. In addition to being good by itself, it also provides a very nice change from more purist noise and PE albums. A highly recommended purchase. [Jiituomas / Kuolleen Musiikin Yhdistys]

Goghal -- "Locations" -- CD-R -- €8
2008 B-Rush, [B-08], (ltd.40)
This release of Belgian Goghal has strange history. Initially it has sent on the edition of half an hour power-electronics but when I began to do circulation, it has suddenly told that does not want that people thought that Goghal should sound so, and has sent the new tracks which are being in the field of harsh noise. A severe sound. Registration: in a plastic envelope color insert, the information is written by hand on the form of payment for the electric power. Ltd 40 copies. [press-release]

Harvest Rain -- "Songs From Evening" -- CD-R -- €8
2005 War Office Propaganda, WOP 09, (ltd. 200)
Harvest Rain is unique within the neofolk genre as they strive to create neofolk branded in part by their own southern American experience. Harvest Rain creates music inspired by autumn, wind, rain, yard fires, corn fields, falling leaves, and the Carolina swamps. These influences and the land that births them have gifted the band with a very unique sound that should resonate especially well with those North Americans amongst us who have relied upon Europe for so long to supply us with our neofolk fix."Songs from Evening" was originally recorded and released by Haunted Showers Music in 1998 as "Evening and Devotion". Excellent soundtrack for rainy days, cold and windy, as the leaves fly away through the fog. As dark as luminous, a must have for dark-folk lovers! [press-release]

2006 Deserted Factory, DF030 / Vomitcore Music-029, (ltd. 100)
Complex and varied ambient-noise from USA. Despite the porn-oriented title, typical for American harsh-noise projects, music here is completely different. Trip-like atmosphere of analogue origin with elements of some concrete music, some harsh, and some temporal and unstable enlightening. Four schizophrenic, surprising and above all feelingly constructed psychedelic soundscapes lasting from 10 to 28 minutes.

Jägerblut -- "1896-1906" -- CD -- €16
2007 UMB Kollektif, UMB 005, (ltd. 700)
After 10 Years of existence, the group around Anton Knilpert (Thorofon / The Musick Wreckers), featuing Genevieve Pasquier, Giuseppe Tonal and Tikki Nagual (Tonal Y Nagual) sealeaseding their fist longplayer after the successful split 7" with Sturmpercht. The work of Jägerblut (eng: Hunter's Blood) can best be described as listening to a musical narrative, told in several parts forming a larger story of another time and place. A bavarian fiction infused with pagan and christian mysticism. Drawing heavily from rural lore, legends of blood-covered martyrs and the inevitabilty of nature, the musicians try to find their roots within the context of modernity. The music itself ranges from whimsical folk to ritualistic versions of the local styles, not to forget the non too subtle moments of industrial sounds. Daring to see the comical in the tragedy and always wandering between sadness and exultation, the experience of Jägerblut is that of the world being full of dark poetry. A unique masterpiece and a MUST for all Waldteufel and Sturmpercht fans! [label info]

Jahrtal -- "Lichtbuch" -- CD -- €13
2007 Ahnstern, Ahnstern30
After the CD-single "Zwei Lieder" now follows the first album by the Austrian Psychedelic-Folk artist Jahrtal. The man behind Jahrtal is Ewald Spiss, a artist from Tyrol, who might be known by some of you from the early days of Industrial music (early 80ies). Lichtbuch is a true treasure of Psychedelic Folk Music, a unique collection of traditional folksongs from the Alps, musical versions of poems by Joseph von Eichendorff, traditionals from England and Scotland in german translation and even a traditional Tibetan prayer. Lichtbuch is a absolute authentic Folk album with great heart and pure soul. The songs and balads on Lichtbuch have mainly a sad-optimistic mood, they shall delight the listener, as well as touch him thoughtfully. Jahrtal is non-academic, honest music, which delivers the message of affection and momentaryness, of cause and effect. A wide and balanced instrumentation gives the album a unique touch. Besides a guitar, which the artist reconstructed himself to a Sitar (Gzitar), Jahrtal uses acoustic guitars, electric guitars, lute, banjo, dulcimer, gzitar, harpzither, psalter, flute, duduk, schalm, violin, organ and bird's voices. The main influences of Jahrtal are in the end-60ies and early 70ies with bands like Witthuser & Westrupp, Spirogyra and C.O.B., but a comparison to the most beautiful balads of Current 93 is inevitable as well. 12 tracks / 75 Min. Jarl -- "Breaking Point Syndrome" -- CD -- €11
2007 Autarkeia, acd 021
Breaking Point-Syndrome is the ninth album of Erik Jarl, Swedish industrial genius. Just like his previous albums, this one radiates the remarkably icy, mercilessly depressing and languorous as well as claustrophobic mood. To reach the effect, Erik simply generates unique industrial sound. His each accord smacks of unexplainable anxiety, the feeling of degenerate future, drug-induced reality, poisoning and exceptionally technocratic character. Jarl music can be qualified as psychedelic industrial/drone, while the album Breaking Point Syndrome is an excellent example of the Scandinavian mastership in creating esp. persuasive and visionary sonic landscape. Jarl -- "Wound Profile" -- CD -- €11
2007 Autarkeia, acd 024, (ltd. 500)
The album Wound Profile by Erik Jarl, the genius of Swedish electronics, previously released in a cassette, has now, after some processing of the record, come out as a CD in a very elegant digipack. The album consists of two record sessions: one of them (6 tracks) was recorded by Erik in 1999, while the other (one track) was recorded 18 months later. Those closely following the music of the Scandinavian master may recognise the early sound of Erik’s compositions in Wound Profile album that at certain points even remind the first IRM records. Clear-cut, abnormal, psychedelic rhythmics, its distorted, massive repetitions, analogous loops of synthetic sound generate the emotions of anxiety, morbidity and degeneration. Unlike Erik’s later music marked for its abstract structure and closer to drone style, the album Wound Profile can be characterised by emotional straightforwardness and brutality. [press-release]

Kirlian Camera -- "Coroner's Sun" -- CD -- €13
2006/2007 [Trisol], TRI 310 CD
KIRLIAN CAMERA's "Coroner's Sun" impressively proves what happens if you tade an already most accomplished band to new limits. Completely unperturbed, the band continues to follow their blazed trail with "Coroner's Sun". The new work combines KIRLIAN CAMERA's typical electro sound with dark poly-hymns which give Elena's voice more doom for development than the preceding album. KIRLIAN CAMERA have come back to their roots - with more vitality than ever: rhythm, structure and effects of each and every song are absolutely perfect. High-resolution soundscapes, halls that seem to be endless and high-tech samples which are both classical and ingenious. Angelo Bergamini's vast imagination slowly - though with a steady hand carries us away into an ocean of melancholy with mystic and mysterious songs that reach beyond the borders of electronic music. [label info]

Kirlian Camera -- "Invisible Front. 2005" -- CD -- €13
2005/2007 [Trisol], TRI 306 CD
Re-Release of the studio album of the year 2005. A tragic odyssey of 11 incredible songs permeated by a sense of loss, as beautiful KIRLIAN CAMERA have never produced before; despite some highly appreciated masterpieces of their past. It looks as though the band's latest hard period had condensed in a desperate lust and need to communicate, which has never been so luminous and aimed at its own unique vision. The enormous relief given to both Elena's stunning voice and talent in composing has been rewarded by an incomparable result, made even more intense by Angelo's anticipated "return to the male vocal parts. A record filled with a dreadfully incorporeal atmosphere, a somewhat statuesque, incomprehensible alienation, or estrangement, settle very closely to the borders of places impossible to describe ... - places that Elena, Angelo and their various collaborators (amongst them Jarboe from THE SWANS and Lloyd James from NAEVUS) seem to know very well. Ghostly and seemngly "magic" signals are appearing everywhere in a transfigured and nearly frozen scenery, almost as if Ridley Scott's "ALIEN" got wrapped in an additional cloak of sensation, dread, but also of a tragic beauty, indeed. These signals or echoes are coming from an unknown zone in which a spacecraft haunted by hallucinating spectres seems to be silently travelling on forever. KIRLIAN CAMERA have chosen a voluntary distance towards the typically conceited trends of the music-scene, an attitude that gave birth to a breath-taking new album, that will leave the inclined listeners speechless with admiration. Combinin "future avant-garde" with classical pop-arrangements, this amazing album will blast the confines of the genre of mere electronic music, sending a shiver own everybody's spine. The distilled power of all the hit-singles KIRLIAN CAMERA have ever created in their long career has been magnified on this album !!!=Is something like this really possible after so many falsely acclaimed - as fa= too often "empty" - electronic releases all around?!? It really looks so, at last... [label info]

Koude -- "Since..." -- CD-R -- €8
2008 Operator Produkzion, OPERPRODUKT20, (ltd. 46)
Second album of this Russia project oriented towards classical "live" drone ambient. Kreutzfeldt, Danny -- "Counterperipheral" -- CD -- €12
2004 Databloem, DBCD 007

Kreuzweg Ost -- "Iron Avantgarde" -- CD -- €9
2000/2001 Napalm Records / Irond Ltd., IROND CD 01-32
KREUZWEG OST is a new project of Silenius (SUMMONING, former VERBANNTEN KINDER EVAS, ex-ABIGOR) and Martin Schirenc (HOLLENTHON, MUDBREED, former PUNGENT STENCH). Musically KREUZWEG OST can be associated with modern avantguard and rgythmic industrial, taking the listener away in a blustery sound tornado. Thematically KREUZWEG OST reflects the chronology of rise and fall of the 3rd Reich during WWII. Original samples are taken from propaganda materials of both germans and allies, and being layered on the rhythm they create uneasy stormy atmosphere, oftenly sounding quite sarcastic. Here you'll also find pieces of Russian and German songs and soundtracks from the movies of war years. Sounds of "Katyusha" volleys and artillery are used instead of drum-machines - and the cacophony of war turns into a certain musical work. [label info]

Respect. Only 12 copies in leatherette containing sleeve with the info + disk with sticker. [press-release]

Members of the american project A Machine Called Orgasm seem to be hard fans of this kind of stuff, and they have made a whole album from processed sounds of his movies. Hot powerful harsh pornoise, quite original and interesting. 7" b/w cover with screenshots from the films. [YAOP description]

Megaptera -- "Extended Chaos" -- 2 CD -- €16
2006 Autarkeia, acd 015, (ltd. 500)
MEGAPTERA's back again with yet another release to celebrate the 15 years anniversary. The new release is titled EXTENDED CHAOS and consits of two old releases, Near Death and Beautiful Chaos. Near Death is Megapteras first official release way back in 1991. It was released as a 7-track cassette on the CMI-sidelabel Sound Source. It's the first release with Peter Nystrom as an official member of the band. Near Death is also the ONLY release with all three members! Using drummachine, various synthezisers, movies, TV, radio and microphone they created a totally analog and dirty death theme. On this CD, 3 bonus tracks are added from the same period. Get prepared for old school! The second disc is a re-release of the 1998 4-track MCD Beautiful Chaos, that was released by Fever Pitch Music, USA. This time it's extended to 10 tracks. Extra material is the two classic tracks Shadowland and Sodom from the Death Odors-compilation and the two tracks from the In the Buchers Backyard-compilation. And as the top of the cake, the CD ends with a bombastic remix of the acopolyptic Final Day, signed The Protagonist, and a 9 min extended version of Shadowland, remixed by Peter Nystrom and Magnus Sundstrom. The sound of Beautiful Chaos is structured and heavy "end of the world-theme" using sampled sounds, mixed in a computer program. Both discs are mastered by the genious of Magnus Sundstrom. O Paradis -- "Cuando El Tiempo Sopla" -- CD -- €14
2007 Punch Productions, PP022
When the time blows (Cuando el Tiempo Sopla), some of them lower the head with the absent look, but we will take advantage of it to get up and to be pushed towards the salvation. The words cannot help you because they are only stones in the space without gravity, and in the darkness of the closed eyes, with the attentive ears, we can listen as our slept cities they speaks in dreams. Don't ask the devil for heaven, because he also is frightened... and Love only is a handful of sand more than we will stop to fall down in the tomb of time? But you do not grieve, there is something that will never die in us, that the breath of time cannot remove. Look for it with me in the new album from "O Paradis". Really there are neither angels nor demons that whisper to the ears, it'is only the sound of the wind, the same breath of time that erase our fingerprints in the paradise. Comes with an amazing booklet with 16 full colored pages! [press-release]

Off The Sky returns with a fascinating set of experimental ambiances, acoustic and glitchy rhythmic excusions. 2005 Databloem, DBCD 013
Jason Corder, recording as off the sky, has released an album that expertly blends the warm textural melodicism of flowing ambient music with the beats, clicks, pops, and effects from the glitch and laptop subgenres. The composite result is an album which brims with imaginative sophistication, a multi-hued affair that rewards the listener as layer after layer of smooth beauty intermixed with computer-controlled rhythms is revealed slowly and deliciously. Olhon -- "Underwater Passage" -- CD -- €12
2008 Eibon Records, Ohl075
Field-recordings maestros OLHON are back with a new stunning album. "Underwater passage" is based upon underwater recordings taken in 2006 by Zairo (WHERE), then treated by Massimo Magrini (of BAD SECTOR fame). These recordings were taken using special sensing microphones attached to an abandoned telephone cable running on the sea bottom at -40 m.; they were then processed with particular demodulating treatments, resulting in a complex and rich ambiental monument. Strange clicks, impulses, a load of movements. Definitely far from the usual concept of dark ambient = low-rumbling drones only, "Underwater passage" shimmers with cutting mid/high frequencies bursts. A very challenging listening, trust me. Cd comes in white-trayed, UV-varnished digipack. [press-release]

Oorchach -- "Prisimerkti" -- CD -- €11
2007 Autarkeia, acd 017, (ltd. 500)
Oorchach is not an empty ornate word or a meaningless concept coined to single out the musical project. The Northern nations of Siberia use the term “Oorchach” to define a very specific archaic artefact of the household. This is an iron ring that used to be ringed to the new-born domestic animals to prevent them from sucking their mother’s milk. It is a powerful archaic symbol embodying the encounter with the remorseless reality in early childhood. Oorchach is a strong event of pre-historic worlds brought to us by the archaic primeval nations that upheld and confessed shamanism, the pro-religions of all religions. The signs and sounds of these shamanic cultures extinguished in times immemorial are revived in the new ritual ambient/industrial project of Oorchach composed by Lithuanian artist PoPo. Monotonic powerful loops, tribal rhythms, coarse sound quality, and music composing method remind the aesthetics of old school industrial/ambient and generate strong, archaic atmosphere, the vitality of shamanic rituals and the intoxicating trance of primeval eternal nature. oro!oro! -- "Ilgesio Rubikonai" -- CD -- €11
2007 Autarkeia, acd 016, (ltd. 500)
oro!oro! - what is it? Is it the whoop of wonder full of charm and childishness beholding the transparent golden autumnal miracles? Or, are these the agony grips burning the throat and opening the last moment brimming with unbearable longing? This psychedelic code of multiple meanings has something eternal and deeply overt. Laurynas Jukonis, the master of the Lithuanian post-industrial, opens a new sonic structure and aesthetics that transcend the framework of GIRNU GIESMES project. The new project oro!oro! and its first album ilgesio rubikonai (Rubicons of Nostalgia) are undoubtedly among the most advanced musical works of the Lithuanian author revealing the accuracy and the subtlety of painting of complex and deep human emotions with the help of electronic sound. Particularly lucid and melancholic music of the album ilgesio rubikonai (Rubicons of Nostalgia), which may be classified as extremely refined ambient, transfers the audience into the masterfully highlighted and poetic visions experienced by personalities searching for the meaning of existence when the autumn in closing in. The autumn is the transformation of the nature bringing in the processes of ageing, decline and, at the same time, maturity into the whole of existence. The album promises a lonely but adventurous journey into the sorrowful landscapes of nature, cities and soul. The electronic sound helps the author to materialize the sense of nostalgia and create an immortal hymn for the period of golden autumn and the personality contemplating it. The oro!oro! album ilgesio rubikonai (Rubicons of Nostalgia) is among the most beautiful and deep ambient pieces reflecting the extremely complex ratio of human emotions and the existence. This new sound of ambient can surely be titled philosophical ambient. [press-release]

oro!oro! -- "Prarastos Ziemos" -- CD -- €11
2007 Autarkeia, acd 019, (ltd. 500)
The pioneer of Lithuanian post industrial and the composer of Girnu Giesmes continues his experiments with sonic impact on human mood. After recording one of the most solid ambient albums "ilgesio rubikonai" (rubicons of nostalgia), dedicated to the complex relation of the seeking personality and autumn, Laurynas embarked on the investigation of winter phenomenon. It resulted in the new oro!oro! album prarastos "ziemos providing" the audience with a translucent, modest and refined ambient masterpiece conveying very precisely the deepest aspects of winter: limitless cleanliness, transparency, serenity and the recreation of existence. "prarastos ziemos" album embodies the natural ending of the nature’s cycle, its esoteric aura, while the motifs of looping music generate remarkably fresh and spacious feel that mesmerises, soothes and makes one dream. The music of the album is also special in that no electronic means were used for its recording. Ambient sounds are produced by harmonica, guitar and archaic zither, which lifts the sound quality of oro!oro! into the entirely new aesthetic level. [press-release]

Rapoon -- "The Library Of The Dead" -- CD -- €11
2008 Ewers Tonkunst, HHE 018 CD, (ltd. 500)
The second CD from Robin Storey on Ewers Tonkunst after the "Mental Traveller" collaboration with Cisfinitum released in 2006. This time Russian artist is also involved and it is a folk singer Tatyana "Toloka" Stepchenko who has also took part in one track on the above mentioned album. Tatyana kindly recorded some songs for Rapoon a capella and allowed him to pull apart, re-arrange, cut-up and re-sample her voice into the sounds and arrangements on this album. The result is a very delicate and enlightened work which is a kind of sonic travel to the clean and vast Russian north spaces to find some ancient and ancestral recollections, made using typical Rapoon sound tools, great and unique voice of Toloka and some very fresh and clear ambient tunes. The release is limited to 500 copies and comes in a stylish digisleeve. [press-release]

Recant -- "Spirochete Fever" -- CD-R -- €7
2006 Deserted Factory, DF035, (ltd. 100)
The avant-gardistic 'Spirochete Fever' has way more influences from Throbbing Gristle in comparison to Abandoned Child's 'Ascension' [Abandoned Child is a side-project of Recant], but as with 'Ascension', there are also a lot of influences audible from Cindytalk (check for example the vocals on 'Beautiful Hands') and other oldschool guitar noise bands. The result is a very strong hypnotic work, mesmerizing vocals, soundscapish guitars ... Sometimes I even thought of the Braindead Monkeys in their most fragile and subsance abused moments (during the track 'Happy Flavor' for example). Twenty-three tracks this album counts with titles like 'The intestinal subway', 'Disco days are over' and 'Oryctolagus Cuniculus'. Can you say LSD?... [Bauke / Gothtronic review]

Reutoff -- "Deprivatio" -- CD -- €11
2008 Ewers Tonkunst, HHE 017 CD
The first full-length solo CD in five years from the most internationally well-known Russian industrial project after their 2003 "Gute Nacht Berlin" on Albin Julius HauRuck! label. "Deprivatio" is a sad story of a person surrender to the enemy environment, it's about idle struggle with time and fatigue, about constant passions withering and vitality deprivation. Being maybe the most hopeless and sad work of the band, this album is paradoxically is their most rhythmic and dynamic - there're more noisy drum loops and electro sounds here than martial drum patterns and old school noise, but their unique deep and profound melodic main themes are still remain as the basement for the brilliant new tracks of despair and downfall. The ascetic b&w artwork was done by Murad Ibatullin known for the recent "Iznutri" compilation. The release comes as a jewel box with 6 panel booklet. [press-release]

Ritual Front -- "Strahlungen" -- CD -- €13
2008 Der Angriff, Nr. 33, (ltd. 500)
After more than two years of work, the most promising Russian dark folk act is returned with their new album. "Strahlungen" is much more matured, professional and carefully produced than the debut CD "Lightnings Over Crimson Hill", and at the same time it hasn't lost neither its energy nor its honesty and sincerity. Seven tracks about the difficult questions of honor and pride, choice and liability, death and rebirth sang in Russian will be more than transparent to the worldwide audience since those challenges don't know the national borders. The release comes in a very special silver embossed cardboard package reminding of vinyl cover with an inner sleeve, there is also 32 pages full color booklet inside with lyrics in Russian and German (the German translations done by Gerhard Hallstatt from Allerseelen) and limited to 500 copies. Sangre Cavallum -- "Veleno De Teixo" -- CD -- €13
2007 Ahnstern, Ahnstern28
The northern Portuguese Sangre Cavallum return with a new and outstanding folk album. It is titled “Veleno de Teixo” meaning Yew Poison and it is a collection of tributes to women and to the cult of mother-goddess in pre-Christian era. "Veleno de Teixo" contains a brand-new set of 16 powerful songs between pagan folk and power-psych atmospheres. Inspired by the music and ethnography of their homeland Callaecia/northern Portugal. It is laboriously produced, capturing the revolutionary minds of these musicians. Among many traditional instruments they play the hurdy-gurdy, bagpipes, flutes, folkloric guitars, war-drums and many times these acoustic instruments are transformed with heavy distortions and meet the psychedelic bass and vintage guitars. It also features the new singer Emanuel Melo da Cunha on a fine debut. "Veleno de Teixo" is a step forward in their wonderful path and a pleasing example of how tradition is a living thing when folklore meets folk rock or dark industrial music. Includes great artwork and a 16 page booklet with psych-photo art and beautiful texts. 63 min. / 16 tracks. [press-release]

Seelenthron -- "Wege" -- CD -- €13
2007 Heimatfolk, HF 01
After their outstanding debut-album "Heimkehr" and the CD-single "Steingeworden", finally appears now the second fulltime-album of the two former DIES NATALIS protagonists Norbert Strahl and Alex Meier. "Wege" is a classical Neo-Folk album in best tradition. Some songs mirror a sad, sometimes even gloomy picture of the world inside and outside of ourselves, other songs are just filigree Folk-balads, as beautiful and dreamy as one could imagine. Nevertheless all nine songs always stand strong and powerful, showing a path to the listener, never to turn back and never to lose his courage. Martial rhythms drum stirringly to neoclassical compositions, united with impassionate piano- and guitarplaying and electronic sounds. The challenging lyrics on "Wege" deal with the stages in one's life, our path through time and the questions for the meaning and the purpose of life. 9 tracks / 40 Min. [press-release]

SGNL_FLTR -- "Chrono" -- CD -- €12
2006 Databloem, DBCD 015
SGNL_FLTR, Danny Kreuzfeldt's minimal techno project, finally comes with a new album as the follow up to SGNL-FLTR's great debut album Vebra. Chrono even goes a step beyond Vebra. The rhythms can be called minimal, but then enriched with soundscapes, clicks + noises. For those who find minimal too boring and prefer more adventurous rhythmic excursions Danny is a hero. [label info]

SGNL_FLTR -- "Vebra" -- CD -- €12

Spielerei -- "Publix" -- CD -- €12
2005 Databloem, DBCD 014
There are times when just by listening to the first few notes you instantly know that you are in for a treat. I do not know how is does, but it works for me every time. I hope this is also true for you as the opening track entitled Tradition is a magnificent slice of electronic music. Surely there is no way that this standard can be maintained. The following track features gentle ambiences and moody bass notes that are carefully assembled into a haunting main theme composed using lots of differing sounds and sequences that continues to maintain the fascination. I think that Delight certainly lives up to its title and on reflection is even better than the opener. Area starts as being very low-fi with muffled sequences that are almost on the point of annoyance but slowly the quality appears to improve and rich Tangerine Dream style sequences emerge that are bound to please many. Technical quality is restored on the following track that again provides classic melodic electronic ambiences that persuade the mind to relinquish the mental pressure and all anguish is banished. Relaxation is the only thought to be encouraged when listening and thoroughly enjoying Renovation. This excellent release finishes in true ambient style with the appropriately titled Restplace, which describes the evocative piece precisely. Dennis Knopper has a major flair, which thankfully he shares with those who choose to listen to this truly exquisite music. [Modern Dance]

Stokes, Saul -- "Radiate" -- CD -- €12
2003 Databloem, DBCD 006

It also offers newcomers their best glimpse at the two modes of Stokes's work , willful improvisation and chilled ambient-techno. [label info]

Survival Unit -- "Fentanyl Martyrs" -- 2 CD -- €16
2007 Autarkeia, acd 020
Survival Unit Fentanyl Martyrs 2-golden-CD box is the latest cultural terror attack coming from cultic non-compromising Swedish postmortem/power electronics project. This time an especially dreadful and relevant theme has been chosen for compromising the declared illusions of human civilisation. Both discs have been dedicated to Chechnya undergoing the total genocide, the total war where neither honour nor rules are acknowledged, except perhaps those of Marquis de Sade, who - bearing in mind the facts of this war - would have never imagined how far the fantasy of brutal people can advance in order to dominate, torture and control those resembling themselves [...] This time the album of the conceptual project Survival Unit - unlike the earlier albums contained in intentionally cheap, anarchistic DIJ aesthetics and packages - will be a posh release. A special 3-part digipack, 20-page booklet, 2 golden CDs and a special manually-made box will spit into the face of those mocking underground and the truth. Total dirt, horror, bloody audiovisual collages, non-compromising mockery of illusions: the TRUTH will be packed in special luxury. On the one hand, it is a real pity because this is the grand pre-funeral wake of the Survival Unit project. Yet, the legendary project leaving to Valhalla must be specially honoured. So, no wonder that the independent AUTARKEIA, which has previously buried Megaptera giant very solemnly, has been chosen for arranging the funeral. [label info]

Svaixt -- "Virsme Versme" -- CD -- €11
2007 Autarkeia, acd 022, (ltd. 500)
Words swaixtix, svastika, svaiksti have a common root that in Sanskrit or Indo-European mother-tongue means to shine, to glow, light. Svaixt, coming from Laurynas Jukonis, the master of the Lithuanian post-industrial, is one more project revealing his sincere interest in the roots of the civilisation, the beginning of the archaic, multi-meaningful, solid and conflictless reality. Demo version of Svaixt album Virsme versme was released in 50 copies by the very author in CDR format and sold in a blink. The album for the second edition was complemented by new material placing new stress in its concept. Svaixt music consists of deep, pulsating and very transparent ambient building up mystic, arcane atmosphere. The value of the album lies in the absence of digital sound generating means in the recording. Virsme versme was recorded by playing the single brass percussion inducing meditation and providing the sound with a strong oriental zest. The cover of Svaixt Virsme versme contains the photo of the legendary marsh opening Ulos Akis located in the Lithuanian region Dzukija, whereas the CD is packed in the elegant digipack. [label info]

Svarrogh (feat. Allerseelen & Sangre Cavallum) -- "Temple of the Sun" -- mCD -- €11
2007 Ahnstern, Ahnstern27
Welcome to Svarrogh's "Temple of the sun". Bells and whispers are droning through empty places, through empty cities. Black Forests, silver skies, and deep blue seas drown grey, abandoned vastness into a flow of lightened wine and honey. "Temple of the Sun" is a decadent and transcendental journey with mandoline, tamboura, mighty synths, bulgarian folklore, deep balcan voices and european ambient as well as blizzard guitars and several elements from the black metal past of Svarrogh. This mini album is a macrocosmic european theme - although still mainly bulgarian and balcan - a gathering of pagan culture with fragments from modern world. Wine and honey will flow through grey streets, through cities of glass, weeping giants cry out in sorrow - welcome to Svarrogh's temple of decadence! This mini-Album also features some extraordinary guest vocals: Gerhard (Allerseelen - Aut), Valerio (Symbiosis - Ita), Juris (Beverina - Lv), B. Ardo & Rangel (Sangre Cavallum - Por). All these artists participate in their own native languages. [press-release]

Synapscape -- "Now" -- CD -- €13
2007 Ant-Zen, act 217
With their sixth full length album Synapscape (T. Kniep and P. Munch) continue and evolve what they started twelve years ago: powerful and versatile explorations in sound, rhythm and ambience. Tthis release is unmistakably synapscape - distorted polyrhythmic beats meet atonal synth tones, Kniep's strange lyrics (coupled with his haunting alienated voice that is offset with various effects), and constant rhythmic changes (while the metric speed is kept). However, there is a readiness for experiments - thus they avoid turning a trademark into a corset. Synapscape's open mindedness to the electronic art combined with their ability to integrate characteristics of breakbeat, electronica and experimental music results (as usual) in a fascinating, unique sonic exploration. The possibilities are infinite as their producing was, is, and will be. This is where they are now - another landmark in contemporary industrial music. [press-release]

T.D. Black Sun -- "Territory of Absence" -- CD-R -- €6
2007 Dars Records, DR11CD
T.D Black Sun in the album the Territory of Absence achieves practically impossible - connects in one track elements of styles from almost opposed directions of music: drone, dark ambient and Zubacheva Elena and Marushkina Tatyana female classical opera singing. Beautiful female voices, songs literally words, and in them suddenly appear oppressive notes, buzz, elements almost a hardcore. It is very unusual release for label Dars records. We hope that you estimate this on good a strange sound alloy, will understand the loneliness penetrating the given cloth from 8 tracks. Make one step towards, step into this Territory of Absence, Territory of full absence of a cliche and classical representations about what music can be. [label info]

Thorofon -- "Final Movement / Bloodheat" -- CD -- €15
2002/2007 Klanggalerie, gg94, (ltd. 500)
A milestone in Thorofon's back catalogue, 'Final Movement' was released on the band's own UMB label in 2002. A very limited version of the album had a 10" included which is also present on this CD re-issue. And in addition, we have thrown in a previously unreleased track so the playing time is extended to nearly 80 minutes. Thorofon are a German-based duo consisting of Genevieve Pasquier (who also records as a solo artist) and Anton Knilpert. Although their sound is very unique, their roots lie in classic 80's Industrial - 'Final Movement' starts where SPK stopped in the mid Eighties. 'Bloodheat' is more your Cabaret Voltaire or Portion Control. A killer album first time on CD. [press-release]

Vava Kitora (Sachiko & Yama-Akago) -- "Prithivi Mandragoire" -- CD-R -- €7
Deserted Factory, DF022, (ltd. 200)
Japanese Vava Kitora consists of members Sachiko and Yama-akago. I am used to hearing noise, or basically anything electronic, experimental or extreme coming from Japan. Vava Kitora, however, is something completely different and very interesting, falling outside any established genres. Medieval woodcuts and mandrake roots seem to be the theme here, and it is very interesting to hear two Japanese women interpreting European cultural history. Musically this could be described as some kind of minimalist ethereal experimentalism. Faint female voices are in the main role, harmonic at first, but growing ever more dissonant and eerie as the album progresses, culminating in a very I.Corax-like spectral flow at the end. Chimes, bells and strings are used sparingly. All in this is an extremely original piece, which reminds partially of Caul, partially of electroacoustic experimentalism, yet is a completely personal thing (also distinctly Japanese). However, in Prithivi Mandragorie the down sides of minimalism also come out: the sound is very thin and clinical, and the sound scale concentrating too much into the high end strengthens this impression. If one can get over the thin sound Prithivi Mandragorie is a successfull personal concept to say the least, and worth heating for those who are looking for something innovative and beautiful. Moljebka Pvlse -- "lode lvx" -- 7" -- €7
2008 Drone Records, DR-91, (ltd. 300)
For some years now Stockholm based artist MATHIAS JOSEFSON has delighted the drone scene with his highly minimal excursions into drone territory. From harsh noise to soft & gentle ambience the aim is to reach a basic level of sound conscience. In doing so the "human mind" and the "sound mind" interact to build a symbiotic entity. MOLJEBKA PVLSE is Josefson’s sound art project where he often collaborates with KARIN JACOBSON. The two pieces "lode" and "lvx" are great examples of breathing drone structures which seem to be derived from real string or wind instruments. Harmonic & mysterious, dense & aspiring.... this is indeed music like a lode of illuminations... Filed under: BREATHING DRONES. BLACK VINYL, BLACK SILKSCREENED BLACK COVER, WITH EXTRA EMBOSSED WHITE INLAY. [press-release]

Noise Dreams Machina -- "In / Out" -- 7" -- €7

NOISE DREAMS MACHINA is the project of Spanish artist OSCAR MARTIN. Now living & studying in Berlin & Barcelona, he is currently exploring the possibilities of homemade software with free tools for sound deconstrucion and realtime performance. IN & OUT is his first vinyl release and uses a wide range of environmental recordings which are processed digitally in more "electro-acoustic" ways. This leads to a balance between "Drone" and "Electro-Acoustic" where the acoustic potential of conventional reality is enlarged via digital processing. In his own words: "It brings attention to the peripheral zones of the sound phenomenon". Through intense mutation & deconstruction of acoustic materials a new or previously hidden meaning can be revealed for the blind spot of our perception. Filed under: ADVANCED ELECTRO-ACOUSTIC DRONES. MILKY VINYL, WHITE COVER WITH BLACK SILK-SCREENED PRINT. [press-release]

Alio Die -- "Il Tempo Magico di Saturnia Pavonia" -- CD -- €12

The sense of MAGIC inside the performing was invited and respected during rites of composition ,and as usual it has guides of the creative process. Then spirits of life comes ,inside a sensitive and creative SPACE, attitude is purified that which is deeply desired the focus of the soul, quiet and almost transparent is the mind. Alio Die -- "Khen Introduce Silence" -- CD -- €12
2003 Hic Sunt Leones, HSL 025
Taking basic improvisations only from sounds produced by Khen (mouth-organ from Thailand/Laos) and processed by different controls like filters, pan and multi-effects, Stefano Musso looks for a vibrational enviroment that is like a special point of view, where time changes his meaning and sometimes becomes absolutely relative, finding a place for contemplation, like being in the clouds and breathing with the sound of the spheres. Observe the circular harmony of seasons in his never ending flow, it speaks like old poetry that is familiar to the soul. [press-release]

Alio Die -- "Password for Entheogenic Experience" -- CD -- €12
1998 Hic Sunt Leones, HSL 015
A never ending drone of intense meditative music, with treated acoustic sounds and loops. Alio Die explore somewhere else places finding a sound support for psychoactive journeys. A long, beautiful track (64 min.) of floating ambient music from this popular Italian electronic artist. [press release]

Alio Die & Johnson, James -- "Cube 7 - Sospensione D'Estate" -- CD -- €12
2007 Hic Sunt Leones, HSL 041
CUBE music is designed to blur the architectural spaces that we occupy during our waking hours of the day. Whether it be an office cubical, a personal listening space or subtly defined spaces within an architectural enviroment. CUBE music is music at the edge of perception, music meant to expand interior space. Listening at a volume slightly above the natural sound in the space that this work is being played. [label info]

Alio Die & Zeit -- "Sunja" -- CD -- €12
Hic Sunt Leones, HSL 023
"Magic has blown its precious spores in the air. A human rite, humble and quiet, has evoked a red hot globe that gently illuminates the path toward the borders of Sunja, the dream place where all vibrations start. Sometimes the light comes down from the sky, clear like a crystal. Sometimes it climbs slowly from the earth's depths, but it's always comforting. Crossing the thresholds of Sunja is like landing on an uncontaminated island, furrow its white sea-shores lapped by tepid foamy waters, been inebriated with wide floral smells and saltiness in secret places of the inland and in caves dug from time, gain the top of the plateau from which it is possible to see beyond... Sunja is creative strength enclosed in two long tracks of incredible intensity, rich in levels of knowledge, pure enchantment and beauty. The deep sound has an extraordinary symbolic and evocative power and it has arrived to a supreme purification owing to millenial percolations across the rock. Music shines, beholds, resounds at the bottom of ourselves, lives and spreads out. We realize, in listening, that a light warmth closes in upon us, everything loses its own original sense, the gates open... the road is beaten! Basic acoustic recordings were improvised during a warm night in late summer 2002 at Lunae studio,Tuscany. Edited and mixed in spring 2003 at Temple studio, Milano. Stefano Musso: zither, samples and loops, buzzer, fields recordings. Tommaso Cimo: khen (mouth-organ), accordion, attles, bird calls, bells. All the CDs come in a special artwork numbered compositions with collages and handmade prints." [label info]

Aube -- "Reworks Nimh Vol. 1" -- CD -- €11
2007 Silentes, SME0611
Another must have work by audio decomposition-genius and sound-sculptor AUBE. Ethnic-electronic sound sources (as with "The Missing Tapes" by NIMH) transfigured and remodeled into completely new sonic lifeforms with state-of-the-art audio processing algorithms. Residual fragments of the original sound-sources occasionally appear in the mix like aquatic fauna swimming to the surface for a brief second. A magnum opus in four movements. Intensely facinating work by the unparalleled master of experimental sound design. AUBE is peerless. A minimal mosaic of sound that takes the listener on a slow-motion expedition into the very fabric of tone. A ocean of sound-grains for the listened to swim in. Spoken language doesn't (yet) contain words that properly describe these sounds... an absolute must have for the experimental music devotee. [press-release]

Baker, Aidan -- "The Sea Swells a Bit..." -- CD -- €11
2006 A Silent Place, ASP006
The sound of this new Aidan Baker's album is comparable to the best (obscure) psychedelic post-rock releases including great droning, hypnotic and honeiric atmospheres. Spontaneously composed by Aidan, who plays guitar (electric & acoustic), bass, tapeloops, drum machine and percussion in his droning 'fashion soup'. The result is the three long and beautiful tracks that constructs this album. His guitar treatments and amazing looping work get more and more marvellous, as the droning increasing percussions take the listener to a peaceful state of mind. The sound rises all around as the stream floods to the seaside, giving refuge to emotions through numbing clouds of murmuring electric voices. Aidan's performances high standards and his instantly recognizable style are here well confirmed, adding to the excellent level of his discography! [label info]

Bestia Centauri -- "Teratogenesis" -- CD -- €12
2007 Eibon Records / Afe Records, bes073 / afe093cd
Avantgarde / Experimental. Bestia Centauri is a solo electronic music project begun in 1999. "Teratogenesis" is its fourth release after "Ubbo-Sathla" (Somnambulant Corpse Recordings, 2002), "The Antideluvian Earth" (Afe, 2003) and "The Self Immolation Rite" (Somnambulant Corpse Recordings, 2004). The aim of Bestia Centauri is to create sonic landscapes that convey a sense of the numinous, the horrific, and the extra-human. Its sounds have much in common with those of electroacoustic music, but the compositional structures generally display a much greater sense of flow. With the new release, "Teratogenesis" (...an Eibon / Afe co-production...), Bestia Centauri defies once and for all the persistent mischaracterizations of its sound as belonging to the "Dark Ambient ghetto". Electroacoustic and computer music elements come brazenly to the foreground, and contribute even more so to the flow of "crawling chaos" that has always characterized and inspired Bestia Centauri’s compositions. The genesis and development of a monstrosity is the theme of this new work, which charts a course from mutated unicellular sonic DNA to the resultant life-form that reaches "from the jaws of the dragon, from the depths of the abyss"... Blood Axis -- "Blot: Sacrifice in Sweden" -- CD -- €13
Cold Meat Industry, CMI X
In November 1997, Blood Axis was invited to fly to Sweden and present a special live performance for the Cold Meat Industry 10th Anniversary Feast. The show was recorded on digital multi-track directly from the mixing board, and the resulting tapes were brought back to USA and re-mixed and re-processed by Blood Axis temselves for an exceptional result: a crystalline and intense summoning of everything from haunting heathen mantras to electronic aggression, traditional European melodies to crushing bombastic anthems. Brighter Death Now -- "Disobey" -- DualDisc (CD + DVD) -- €22
2005 Cold Meat Industry, cmi139
"Disobey" may just be the ultimate release of Brighter Death Now, 2 live-shows presented as a DualDisc, both recorded in Rostock 1997 (CD) and 2003 (DVD) respectively. Brighter Death Now leaves no-one untouched with brutal and destructive industrial sounds, dealing with sinister topics such as death, childabuse and confusing love as a trademark. BDN has the past few years also become one of the more chaotic, charismatic and unpredictable live-acts in the industrial scene. With a charming sense of black humour BDN changes shape from a little rascal to a moral-majority hag dressed up for sunday commandment... something which actually happened during the show in Rostock 2003. Featuring for this special occasion; Roger Karmanik and Lina B Doll (Deutsch Nepal), two beautiful iron ladies ready to manhandle you! [label info]

Brighter Death Now -- "Kamikaze Kabaret" -- CD -- €13
2005 Cold Meat Industry, cmi151
BDN's steady mainman Roger Karmanik never goes out of style! A new punishing fullength CD packed with 8 churning traditional kneecapwrenching tracks, get down with it or bow in shame... Following the last album "1890" from 2001, this new work is more in the vein of 1998's "May all be dead": meaning slight punk mode ON. Diverse, hallucinatory, monotone and HEAVY with that sweet characteristic doom-laden and depressive touch. Simple and effective; just right for your pulsating private parts. [label info]

Circumjecta -- "Ulchi Hop" -- CD-R -- €6
Dars Records, DR08CD
Shadows of the ancient Ulchs on the heated asphalt roads of the megalopolis pursued by Andrey Zots. The Ulch people inhabiting the lands along the lower reaches of the Amur river are known for their unusual and beautiful legend about the last shaman of the tribe who refused to unveil the ancient secrets when he was dying because the spirits did not name his successor to him. If the shaman line had not broken in such a tragic way and the Ulchs could have somehow mastered the Nord Modular programming or learned to use Reaktor, their music would have definitely resembled Circumjecta, an album by young musician Andrey Zots. Andrey’s album is not another ethno pop music in the line or folklore tunes set up with a plain rhythm. Circumjecta music is an immersion, a thin undistinguishable line between a dream and reality, shaman breath of the megalopolis, of all invisible and unheard hidden in its depths. Following the Circumjecta music we all choose our own ways. Conceptualizing his works Andrey does not assign any definite forms to his music, but rather softly outlines the boundaries, letting the listeners plunge into fantasies, imagination, and create together with the author while the music is still on. Just listen…Your world is not everything. There is a totally different one out there, and it is the world of Circumjecta. [press-release]

Derniere Volonte -- "Devant Le Miroir" -- CD -- €13

The new album by the French masters of erotic military pop, more gloomy than ever before. [label info]

Derniere Volonte -- "Obéir et Mourir" -- 2 CD -- €26
Nuit Et Broulliard, NB.CD.06
Re-issue of the mythical double tape-boxset released by La Nouvelle Alliance in 1998 in a limited and numbered edition of 120 copies (L.N.A. 01). Only 90 were finally edited that time. All original material was entirely remastered and seven unreleased tracks from the same recording sessions were added for a tolal length of about 140 mns/28 tracks. Unlike to the recent releases of this French one-man project "Obéir et Mourir" includes neither any singing nor pop-influences. The sound here is a great blending of dark ambient soundscapes, militaristic percussion samples and tape-voices taken from World War II' documentaries. Powerful anthems march in front of melodic tracks and oppressive atmospheres reflecting perfectly the climate of the 30's and of the 40's made of fury, pain and tears… "Obéir et mourir" is nothing but an audio and visual illustration of these dark days... The two CDs come in cardboard cover with a 14 postcard-set, housed in a deluxe dark green boxset with embossed front-picture and bronze printings. [press-release]

Desiderii Marginis -- "Deadbeat" -- CD -- €13
2001 Cold Meat Industry, CMI.86
Mjölby: hick town, epicentre of Swedish counter-culture, a power-plant transmitting anti-art currents over the national grid. Home of the legendary deathseekers Brighter Death Now, of the infamous scatologist Raison d'Etre, and not least of the decadence afficionado Desiderii Marginis. 'Deadbeat' is Desiderii Marginis' magnum opus, a bewitching tale from a midwintery Sweden veiled in darkness, firmly maintaining their ranking among the upper crust of the Mjölby avantgarde. Listening to Desiderii Marginis is like travelling in time, back to the days when you first discovered CMI and instantly became enchanted. By watching and learning from old mages like Raison d'etre and Morthound, Johan Levin has aggregated different styles, but eventually the music is still distinguished by his highly personal touch. Close your eyes, and find yourself moved to desolate windswept forests - where mist lingers around leafless branches, moonbeams just barely break through, and distant howls both entice and frighten. These are emotions so familiar and so novel at the same time, evoked by classic CMI material that both looks back and points forward. [label info]

Desiderii Marginis -- "Seven Sorrows" -- CD -- €13
2007 Cold Meat Industry, cmi173
Seven Sorrows is the sixth album by the renowned swedish dark-ambient project Desiderii Marginis, and a most eagerly awaited follower to the highly acclaimed album of 2005, That Which Is Tragic And Timeless. With the material on Seven Sorrows Johan Levin, the mind behind Desiderii Marginis, has dug deeper than ever before within the creative depths and so ventures even further into the darklands of dispair and solitude, deeper into the vibrant shadows of the human mind. Since the very debute in 1993, Desiderii Marginis has, with every new offering, refined and reinvented the trademark sound, and this release is no exception to the rule. Strummed guitars and dulcimers blend seamlessly with soaring strings, raging drones, the sound of twisted metal and spoken word. Diverse sources, yet tamed to an intriguing and alluring whole that slowly spin it’s web around the helpless listener and drags them into the vortex of dreamlike darkness. First 2000 copies in a 6-panel digipak, artwork photos taken by the exceptional photographer Birthe Klementowski. [press-release]

Deutsch Nepal -- "Erotikon" -- CD -- €13

On Erotikon Deutsch Nepal blooms in full decadence. Dark seductive psychodelic industrial songs - it is retro all the way back to the Nico influences, it's addictive in every sexual way - and it leaves you with a complete new experience and a sensational taste of bodily fluids. Lubrication saves! [label info]

Girnu Giesmes -- "Rupus Miltai" -- CD -- €11
2005 Autarkeia, acd 011, (ltd. 299)
Rupus miltai presently counted as the eighth album of Lithuanian post-industrial music pioneer Girnu Giesmes. The begetter of this Project Laurynas Jukonis used to mark all his albums by some most archaic and original elements of Lithuanian culture, such as the glee, rhymed recitations in ancient Lithuanian language, some ornament on the cover. They reflect the coherence between the author and archaic worldview, genetics of ancestors, moreover - they perfectly adopt the ancient code for enriching the collective future thinking. The newest album entitled with the ancient relic, genuine and dearly fine Lithuanian euphemism - Rupus Miltai - which is not translatable into other languages, perhaps even not explicable to foreigners, but naturally acceptable by everyone of Lithuanian descent as some higher element of communication, open to selected ethnos. The author of this Project chose this relic of sublime reality as the guiding point to surreal, psychedelic trip into different, more universal reality where the ocean of associations and infinite possibility of interpretation rise. The web of senses generated by the album Rupus Miltai throws the listener along the emotional draughts as if the whirlwind carrying the small butterfly. A stream of transparent ambient suddenly grows into the hysterical ritual dance of shamans, leading to the labyrinth of feelings hiding the fearful obscurity. As the battle falls, the light descends, and the vanishing mind erases every thought and sense. Rupus Miltai is a peculiar, psychedelic album talking of .... With various eclectic post-industrial accents twinkling in it, with unique style aesthetics unrolling and blazing in unconventional loops of dark and hypnotic ambient and frozen industrial pulse. Girnu Giesmes -- "Tiems, Kas Budi Uz Slenkscio" -- CD -- €11
2006 Autarkeia, acd 014, (ltd. 500)
Laurynas Jukonis, the author of GIRNU GIESMES project and the pioneer of the Lithuanian post-industrial, has dedicated his ninth album "Tiems, kas budi uz slenkscio" (For Those Who Keep Vigil Beyond the Threshold) to the next element of the archaic worldview of the Lithuanians, that is, the mythological sagas. To be more precise, it is dedicated to the weird reality functioning in accordance with specific laws in sagas that has been deeply ingrained in human mind from time immemorial. The modern rationalism has not managed to destroy this system until our days. Probably the mythological reality with all its strange creatures can relatively be called the remnant of the evolved shamanism. This is arcane, but not necessarily unapproving worldview of the supernatural world as the dark powers. The latest GIRNU GIESMES album conveys exactly these features. Each track projects a fascinating interpretation of the archaic thinking system in music. Vivacious and a bit eerie music of "Tiems, kas budi uz slenkscio" album is difficult to define in terms of music style. Some tracks sound with mysterious psychedelic ambient, while the others reverberate with bizarre broken rhythms and loops. Yet, a strong and interesting mood is undoubtedly created by the rich and professionally compiled sound collages featured in the CD. [press-release]

The Hafler Trio -- "An Utterance of the Supreme Ventriloquist" -- CD -- €15
2005 Soleilmoon Recordings, SOL 134 CD, (ltd. 1000)
“An Utterance of the Supreme Ventriloquist” was originally issued by Soleilmoon in 1996 in a hand-numbered edition of 451 clear vinyl Lps. Now, nine years later, it’s being released for the first time on compact disc. “Utterance” consists of two 21-minute pieces, “Placing the Seed” and “Seeding the Place”. It’s psychedelic head-trip that reaches a similar plane of consciousness occupied by Nurse With Wound. The material has been completely remastered for maximum digital appreciation, and is presented in a deluxe embossed folder with lavishly printed inserts, all wrapped in semi-transparent paper, very much in the style of the recent reissues of “The Sea Org” and “Mastery of Money”. This compact disc edition is strictly limited to 1000 copies. [press-release]

Harvest Rain -- "Blood Hymns" -- CD -- €11
2006 OPN, OPN CD 05
These Midnight Sessions began within the Winter Solstice and the recordings continued during the 12 Nights of Yule in 2002. 'Blood Hymns' is a personal soundtrack to the search for Thule/Hyperborea. The Spirit's journey back to the lost homeland. A "musical diary" of the blood answering the Pull of Magnetic North's Most Northerly Midnight. Where one finds the 13th Hour. These Midnight Sessions began after 'A Frost Comes with the Wind' and should be considered the follow-up to that album. The largest line-up for a Harvest Rain album yet. Special preparations and work with the Chilean artist Juan Almarza Anwandter of Der Arbeiter without whom this album would not be. 'Blood Hymns' is for all those on the Path of A-MOR. Expect simply the best with this new collection of heathen folk music anthems... [press-release]

Hitti, Enten -- "Giant Clowns Of The Solar World" -- CD -- €12
1996 Aqua, A9601, (ltd. 1000)
A rare sort of ambient work, 'Giant Clowns Of The Solar World' sounds more like an orchestra of voices, instruments and song. Crave a new Mandible Chatter, IAM Umbrella or Voice Of Eye disc? Well, here's a great experience that will grab your imagination. You can almost see people dancing odd steps in some oak grove for a crowd. But there are the drifting, cloudy moments too. The ambient drones ornamented with the sparse instrument: guitar, violin, female voice like an angel, a piano ghost. Very orchestral, inspiring, an orchard of sound... And for you artwork freaks, this one's really nice. It is a six panel, large-sized fold-out display book on heavy artpaper, full-color printing of surreal images and landscapes. Lots of text but most of it in Italian. [Manifold Records description]

Hum -- "Ether Rider" -- 7" -- €7
2004 Drone Records, DR-70, (ltd. 300)
Drone Records is proud to present HUM, another newcomer from the growing russian experimental scene, who had out before a few most promising self-released CDrs on his own label. HUM (originally a reduction from “hum-an”) sees his work as a representation of emptiness and sound, derived from tantric tradition. The basic intention is the “restoration of mythological time”. This release, being dedicated to “magic flight”, enlights on the first track with full vibrating “cosmic” drones, sounding like a swarm of low-pitched insects. The second piece CRUCIBLE is more loop-structured & noisy, with low-fi mechanized rumblings, filled with organic substances... two fantastic sound-samples that show the ability of drone-sound to lead your inner mind into the center of nothingness. Filed under: magic-flight drones. BLACK VINYL. MINIMAL DESIGNED WHITE COVERS WITH B/W PHOTO. [press-release]

In Slaughter Natives -- "Sacrosancts Bleed" -- CD -- €13
1992 Cold Meat Industry, CMI.16
Sacrosancts Bleed is incredibly heavy orchestral electronic with Rosemary's Baby at the centre of the steaming chaos. Machine rhythms batter the cathedral as profanities hurl themselves at the altar. Heavy guitars, screams, backward cries, distortion. "Fifth Skin" is the most amazing of songs - a looped sample of some kind of sharp male cry; slow lunging guitars; that gruesome voice... Kahn, Jason / Möslang, Norbert / Müller, Günter / Aube -- "Signal to Noise Vol. 5" -- CD -- €11
2007 For 4 Ears, CD 1867
Jason Kahn: analog synthesizer, percussion. Norbert Möslang: cracked everyday_electronics. Günter Müller: ipod, percussion, electronics. Aube: laptop, electronics. The members of the MKM-trio went to the Buru Studios in Kyoto to record with Akifumi Nakajima aka AUBE, one of the pioneers and great masters of electronic music in Japan. This CD festures four improvisations of almost symbiotic interaction, ranging from high energy free-for-alls and noisy beats to the quiet drift of extended ambiences. An absolute must for AUBE fans! Lustmord -- "Metavoid" -- CD -- €13
Nextera, ERA 2008-2
Originally released in 2001 and being out of print for some years this is the seventh Lustmord release, and the first since 1994's "The Place Where The Black Stars Hang". "Metavoid" presents the logical development of that unmistakable Lustmord sound, and pushes further into new depths which raised global interest in Lustmord's originality as the musician and sound engineer. "The human mind is, and will forever remain, incapable of comprehending the many depths and layers that encompass the universe within which we live. We construct ever changing theoretical and semiotic perspectives in an attempt to map and decode the unknown, but meaning remains incomprehensible. Through endless corridors of silence and dread, deeper than vacuum, beyond infinity and the realm of measurement, ideographic patterns do not emerge. Our role is insignificant, and is futile at best. The sum of knowledge is nothingness. Outside the narrow confines of our intellect, larger forces are at play, and some things may best remain unknown." [label info]

Lustmord -- "Purifying Fire" -- CD -- €13
2000 Soleilmoon, Sol 98 CD

Maeror Tri -- "Meditamentum" -- CD -- €12
2005 Manifold Records, mancd044
Re-edition of the CD previously published by German label Holonom in 1994. This was the 2nd full-length of Maeror Tri after "Multiple Personality Disorder". It contains retrospective compilation of cassette tracks dated 1989-1992. "This compilation is probably the more ambient of any Maeror Tri compilation, going for more textural guitar and drift than the rumbling, backwards-chord sound. Comes in an amazing brown artboard case and embroidered cloth sleeve, four-page booklet inside inspired by rough layouts of cassette-years past gives plenty of text to absorb with the sounds. Amazing sounds demand amazing packages and we wanted to make sure this would be a treasure for all who were ever interested in Maeror Tri." [label info]

Nordvargr & BSE vs. Kenji Siratori -- "Hypergenome 666" -- 2 CD -- €27
2006 Old Europa Cafe, OECD 088
This will be for sure the more surprising release for 2006 in the ambient-dark-industrial field ! This 2 great scandiniavian dark-industrial projects leaded by MZ.412 members are here making an excursion in KENJI SIRATORI acid world made of encrusted blood & samen, made by all the information in the universe plus several bits from other dimensions ! KENJI is surely a madman, but if you scan his hallucinatory textual mashups in the right frame of mind, they all begin to make sense !!! Kenji gave birth to a virulent amalgam of modern technology & illnes like a mix of Tetsuo the Iron Man & a modern version of William Burrougs cut-ups ! & his "Blood Electric" book was aclaimed by DAVID BOWIE ! On the 2 albums NORDVARGR & BSE are creating best dark ambients, for which both projects are very well reknown, to support Kenji vocals frames ! Japanese words disgorged by Kenji Siratori are here strongly entwined in the chaotic calmness of BSE's audio universe & in the deepest sounds born in the surgery of Nordavrgr's Villa Bohult .... All songs are based upon the spoken prose by the uncompromising Japanese writer, creating a new fascinating depth in the musical experience ! The CD's come with an 80 pages exclusive book by Kenji Siratori, the whole inside a very special box. [press-release]

Nosesoul -- "Ethik Blues / Winterbirds Helped the Passengers" -- CD + DVD -- €18
2007 Silentes, 200719
A fascinating album of ambient music that straddles the worlds of comfortable quiet sounds (that continually morph and expand)... and darker more introspective tones (that arouse a more turbulant and mysterious character). Atmospherics for nightfall. Large enveloping soundscapes that completely overtake the senses. Similar in many ways to the unmistakable style of OPIUM. Evocative drone-core infused with subtle vocal elements. "ETHIK BLUES" is the soundtrack of the DVD "WINTERBIRDS HELPED THE PASSENGERS" (a truly wonderful movie by FRANCESCO PALADINO). One hour of pure sonic-bliss to completely loose oneself in. An amazing milestone for ambient/isolationistic music lovers, and definitely not to be missed by fans of this genera. [label info]

Nothing -- "Silence Came Back In, Filling Jagged Spaces" -- CD -- €12
2004 Eibon Records, Nth046
A disharmonic journey through the mid-world spheres. Fragments of corrupted melodies melt with post-nuclear tribal rhythms. Quiet semi-silences turn into crystal-clear ambiences, then suddently leave space to bursts of noise. Shamanic-like chants evolve into caressing violins, then fall into pits of ultra-droning dark ambient. ...S.U.R.R.E.A.L... ..G.H.O.S.T.L.Y... In clear-trayed jewel box. [label info]

Olhon -- "Sinkhole" -- CD -- €12
2006 Eibon Records, Olh062
A cooperative effort of Massimo Magrini (mastermind of the genious BAD SECTOR) and Zairo (of the ultra-obscure dark ambient travellers WHERE). "Sinkhole" was composed using original field recordings taken (mainly underwater) in the "Pozzo del Merro", the world's deepest sinkhole. The result is an extremely organic, almost "breathing" dark ambient journey. Very challenging, that's for sure..... Nobody knows what lies in the abyss. Just sit down and listen to the sound of the earth's depths. [press-release]

Opium -- "Algorithms" -- CD -- €12
2007 Silentes, 200615
A stunning new offering by Opium. Classically elegant and extremely refined ambient music. Multi-dimensional sounds that are warm and enveloping. An emotional travelogue, starting dramatically, then taking the listener down a slower path, comfortably easing you into a long and fascinating sonic trip, where the sounds grow wide and large, and finally crumble inward, then regenerate, returning for another phase. A new sonic alchemy, and an entirely new world of soothing sounds for the adventurous listener to visit. [press-release]

Raison d'Être -- "The Empty Hollow Unfolds" -- CD -- €13
2000 Cold Meat Industry, CMI.78
This is a grim travelogue from the land where the sun never rises; grievous keyboard overlayed by factory noises and the trademark chanting monks turns this into some of the most unsettling listening since of Lustmord's 'Paradise Disowned'. [label info]

Raison d'Etre -- "In Sadness, Silence and Solitude" -- CD -- €13
Cold Meat Industry, cmi157
Mammoth stone walls stretching high into the unknown, dank cellars stewn with bones and ashes. A chill in the lonely night wind disturbed by the utterance of arcane phrases. This is music guaranteed to at least bring about thoughts of mysticism, if it doesn't produce mystical states outright. This defines the term hauntingly beautiful. The long deleted 'In Sadness, Silence an Solitude', the fourth fullength album of Raison d'etre and first released in 1997, is yet another astonishing piece of dark ambiental chants mixed with industrial elements and deep droones. Now, 'In Sadness, Silence an Solitude' has carefully been re-mastered for maximun fidelity. In addition, the original artwork has splendidly been re-worked and recent live versions of two original album tracks has been added to extend the already great experience with more than 16 minutes. This album is dark yet ultimately beautiful to the point of being indescribable, which one must hear to fully comprehend. [label info]

Raison d'Être -- "Requiem For Abandoned Souls" -- CD -- €13
2005 Cold Meat Industry, cmi128
One of the persons in the extended CMI family that doesn't need a particulary long introduction is Peter Andersson. His Raison d'Etre was one of the first acts to be featured on CMI, and over the last ten years he has kept refining their signature sound over an extensive discography. Three years since the previous album, the new offering 'Requiem for Abandoned Souls' is a kind of climax, a career peak that all previous albums have pointed up to, where the music sets a perfect backdrop for the theme as spelled out by the album title. The key to understanding Andersson's vision for this album lies in the track titles; read separately, or taken together as a poem. The toll of a church bell escorts the listener on an existential voyage through the world according to Raison d'Etre, a bleak place populated by shadowy souls abandoned of all hope. But don't let that scare you away, because this remarkably beautiful collection of songs is a true remedy in this age of chaos; when the outside withers away, the inside fills with emptiness, and there's nothing left to believe in. Stahlwerk 9 -- "Revolution of the Antichrist" -- CD -- €13
2007 Steinklang Industries, SK 43, (ltd. 666)
Stahlwerk 9's new Dark/Death Ambient album R.O.T.A. is more quiet and ritual than his recent works. R.O.T.A. can be compared to his earlier albums "Oradour" and "1905", but a lot more sacral. Deep, sumbliminal drummings, heavy organs and bells and ominously dronning soundscapes guide you to your private Aramgeddon. A blackest soundtrack for the end of the world... The artwork consists of a folder in 7"-size, holding 10 large inlays on heavy cardbord. All paintings on the folder and the inlays were drawn by the Russian painter Alexander Nemkovsky (http://nemkovsky.info), who already worked with Peter Anderson (Raison d'Etre). "With the approach of the Antichrist's authority comes the moment for mankind, of conscious man-godkind and satan-godkind, which have the task to abolish the authority of God and to give the maximum global power to man and devil." (Lev Tikhomirov, "Religious-philosophical Bases of a History"). [press release]
